Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Step By Step (Tues WeTV & Gaga) ep 10 of 12 - I’m finding the time frames confusing. Still, a lovely crying kiss + a very high drama-lllama gay confession. Kitchen counter make out, my fav! The actor who plays Jeng kisses at MaxTul levels, which is to say = like a man who has actually done it before with genuine desire and is capable of portraying that on screen. (What makes MaxTul kings is that they BOTH do this.) Pat caught up, thank goodness. Also P’Jeng!!!! P’JENG!!! I love how intimate phi is when it’s been all khun prior. This is the Thai version of hyung slinging. Errotic linguistics, my fav. And ALL the work drama and homophobia fall out when you sleep with the boss. I really enjoy that the angst concerning their relationship has to do with the fact that this is an office romance. Lastly? I love Chot so much. Everyone needs a gay auntie. Also Bruce is SO DAMN GOOD. (I mean we knew he would be from Lovely Writer, but this... chef’s kiss.) 

La Pluie (Sat iQIYI) ep 10 of 12 - There are enough meta-analysis on this one for me not to have to weigh in. Suffice it to say that I like what it’s trying to do, and I certainly appreciate the levels of consent and so forth but I’m not sure I actually like it as much now that we are swimming in high concept. Too much lying. I’m not sure I want my BL to make me think this hard. Also poly, boys = final answer. (Anyone else getting Color Rush flashbacks?) 

Be My Favorite (Fri YouTube) ep 6 of 12 - I love Max now and forever, and I made some very bad puns in the Trash watch here. Otherwise I’m not super invested. 

Dinosaur Love (Thai Sun iQIYI) ep 1 of 10 eps - from Ultimate Troop (The Yearbook people) so I shouldn’t watch this as it airs, after Remember Me? I swore never again. But there’s so little on right now, I’m falling on the pulp sword...  My initial thoughts? It’s an En of Love installment? What is going on? Why all this opening with the sides in a bar? Are we framing? Just move on to the 2 boys kissing! Don’t try to be clever, for fucks sake. Okay, good, the pulp has begun. I like soft wet-blanket Rak and his sad love life. I’m not wild about how aggressive Dino is plus insta-SINGING but I DO LIKE THAT HE’S OUT and knows what he wants which is refreshing. It’s trope filled nonsense (crash into me, instalove, sing feelings, floppy drunk, he’s in engineering, fast and bi-curious) also Dino used ter at first (how forward!) then he went to gu/mueng after rejection, while Rak uses khun & phi/pom. Love this for them. Despite my justified reservations with this production team imma stay watching. I need something on Sundays. * 

Luminous Solution (Sat Gaga) ep 6fin - That’s it? Bullsheiit. No seriously. That’s my review. 3/10 I DON'T KNOW WHAT I JUST WATCHED AND NEITHER DOES IT AND I’M MAD ABOUT IT.

* I got to say, you have only yourselves to blame for Dinosaur Love’s ranking. Once upon a time, I lived happily in ignorance of the Thai film industry. And then you all kept asking me extremely intelligent questions about it. And because I am a nosy little shit, I had to figure out what was going on. And now a BL like this, which ordinarily I would just love unconditionally, is a really scary place for me, because I know too much about the production house. The evils of too much information are all true. Remain happily in ignorance, I advise you, especially where BL is concerned. 

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Love Tractor (Korea Weds iQIYI) eps 7-8fin - Yechan is such a frank character it confuses all who meet him, also a truly terrible flirt. This is such a puppy/cat relationship. It was cute but it went too far into cringe for a KBL (for me). I don’t think Kdramas are good at farce (sorry), better if they stick with more subtle humor. It was a sweet ending tho, not too cheesy. Nice kiss for KBL but pretty rather than sexy. Full review below.

Tokyo in April is... AKA Shigatsu no Tokyo wa (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 3 of 8 - Oh, it’s GREAT. Damn it. There is a lot of subtext and things not being said. This is going to be one of those shows where it’s endlessly frustrating that they don’t just talk to each other. The crying first time was gut-wrenching. Ren is complicated & scarred & closed off. Kazuma is earnest & empathetic & thinks he’s unworthy - so will take whatever crumbs are handed to him. They are both giving parts of themselves away in a desperate attempt to shape themselves to the expectations they have of each other. These 2 are gonna fuck each other up while they fuck and fuck with our hearts. Japan is giving us the Bed Friends that Thailand can never even imagine. There is absolutely no guarantee this will end happily (it’s from the Eternal Yesterday people) but it is guaranteed to be painful and beautiful along the way. Oh Japan, must you? I guess you must. 

Stupid Genius (Vietnam Fri YouTube) ep 4 of 6 - I’m mostly confused by the catfishing & tarot side plots. But the mains sure act like bfs. To the point of our tiny jock idiot getting gay panicked by how much bfs they are. Surprise kiss! For everyone, it turns out. Yes I laughed. What? It was pat but also… FUNNY.

Tie The Knot (Pinoy YouTube) ep 3 of 8 - The main couple is adorable, but I’m not wild about the gay bashing blackmail side story. Still, it’s the best we’ve had from the Philippines in a while so I am keeping my fingers crossed. 

Vian the series (Vietnam YouTube ) ep 9 of 12 - Seriously? Bah Vinh = chemistry with EVERYONE. 

Naked Dinner AKA Zenra Meshi (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 12fin - So Souta just disappears off to Singapore and doesn’t say anything to his boyfriend about it? And then comes back with the perfect plan and life for both of them? Oh Japan, must you? Review below.

House of Stars (Thai Mon iQIYI) 12 eps - I bounced at ep 3. Will binge if told it is worth it at end.

Stay (Pinoy YouTube) 7 eps - It’s mostly English & set in LA (shudder) so I’m not bothering.

Ever After (Pinoy YouTube) 12 eps - Spies reported that it's a real mess and not a hot one.

BL Express reviewed The Egoest. Oh boy am I never going to watch that. 

One in a Hundred - Gaga dropped all 12 episodes (c.10 min ea) at once. This is a 2020 Chinese show. It’s not BL. And it has a laugh track. I watched the first & final eps and won’t bother with the rest. DNF

I finally watched the 2022 thing I should have. 

To Sir, With Love - REVIEW

This is a true lakorn with scenery chewing performances from an ensemble cast focused on family obligation and past sins, especially from the mother characters. It is a Thai tellenovella + Gone With the Wind but gay. That said? I loved it: A glorious central brother relationship (the best, made me cry), het romances, class divide + gay *gasp* main romance, the camp of it all! It’s like it was invented by drag queens. Arranged marriage, rebellion, cut sleeves, dramatic death with curses and regrets, beautiful if inaccurate costumes, secrets unraveling, cover ups, sparkle murder, sex herbs, coils within coils including snakes and death by glitter (is anything gayer on this earth?). It’s a WILD ride. It’s not BL. It’s not a romance, it’s a family drama Thorn Birds style but it does end happy for our gay boys. Like Manner of Death I’m struggling to rate something on a BL scale when it patently isn’t a BL. I think I have to give it exactly what I gave that show, 7/10 

I loved it, but not as a BL.

Zenra Meshi - REVIEW

AKA Naked Dinner 

I have to be honest, I didn’t really like much about this show. The central premise was too odd and the main character too clumsy & slow on the uptake. I like the food, but there have been food-set BLs before that failed to meet expectations. Too many of them. This one joined that throng. Good ending tho. 7/10 

RECOMMENDED WITH RESERVATIONS

Love Tractor - REVIEW

Most of this country-set BL had me feral for the beautiful broken city boy and his hot young farmer. Hyung romance, puppy/cat pairing, open frankness meets jaded reserve, language play, water hose frolicking, only one bed, all my favorite tropes. This show was basically a light-weight Restart After Come Back Home and I’m not even slightly mad about that. 

But (and you knew there was a “but” coming) something about the cringe of the final 2 eps and the impermanence of the ending (both of which highlight the fact that ultimately these 2 are I’ll-suited: too different & too far apart) left me with the feeling that they probably won’t last as a couple. However, in this case, rare for me, I forgive it this finale for my love of the rest. 

I did dither a lot though, it’s not an 8 but not a 9 either. Better than Love Mate (8/10) not as good as The New Employee (9/10) but in the end I’m value adding up for the premise and the cast, giving it a 9/10. 

RECOMMENDED 

(Gotta say, because this is rare for me, that this had a great OST. Not the credit music but the refrain, Rainbow.)

7/3 Be Mine SuperStar (Thai Mon Viki) 12 eps - JaFirst whipping boy/spoiled prince, obsession, celebrity/mundane. Third-year film student Punn (Ja) gets an internship on the set of a drama. He’s come to learn, but "what lights his passion even more than the work" is leading man Achi, Thailand's sweetheart. Adapted from the novel “The Superstar and the Puppy on Set” (พี่พระเอกกับเด็ก��มาในกอง) by Orpheus, cast includes Benjamin Brasier (2moons2), Bosston Suphadach (UWMA), Jo Kavinpat (War of Y), Kokliang (TharnType). Directed by David Bigander (Bite Me) which makes me nervous. Maybe he'll do better with an adaptation?

7/6 Minato's Laundromat Season 2 AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry Season 2 (Japan Thu ????) 12 eps - The story is a continuation of Minato & Shin's love story, and it picks up 10 years after the events of season 1 but the characters don't seemed to have grown at all. Very Japan of you, Japan.

7/7 Stay By My Side (Taiwan Fri Gaga) 10 eps -  Gu Bu-Xia has the ability to hear ghosts, except when he is around his new roommate Jiang Chi. So he starts to find ways to approach Jiang Chi. But is it  the ghosts or Jiang Chi’s charm?

7/8 Low Frequency (Thai Sat YouTube?) 8 eps - ghost boyfriend, celebrity/mundane - Mon's life as a spirit-seeing interior decorator is full of headaches. On good days, he helps settle problems for his relative, who is a star manager. But then he gets involved with the spirit of Thames, a famous young actor who is in a coma.

7/9 Hidden Agenda (Thai Sun GMMTV YouTube) 12 eps - JoonDunk are back. Zo, a college freshman whose never been in love, decides to change it by making the college’s star Nita as his gf. He approaches Joke, Nita’s ex, for dating advice. What he fails to realize is that Joke has had his eyes on him for a long time and uses this opportunity to approach Zo. TMS 2.0.

7/15 Laws of Attraction (Thai Sat ????)  Stars the pair from To Sir With Love and with the same production team, cryptic description, but it seems to be Manner of Death esk.

7/19 Wedding Plan (Thai Wed YouTube & iQIYI)  - It's Mame and she's coming for our GL. She's such a misogynist IMAGINE what we will get with a GL? It's going to be absolute carnage. To crane your neck as you drive by the car wreck or not... that is the question. Me? I'm wallowing in the guts.

7/20 Jun & Jun (Korea Thu Viki) - From 2022 (TutorYim rumored to cameo) this office romance features 2, yes 2! Bls. Seme looks aggressive, we in classic yaoi territory. There is an idol involved. Past failed flirts. I am very excited about this one.

sgu writers were so so foul for not giving us any more major rush/young moments after twin destinies. like that was such a huge Moment for them and their relationship and instead of building off of that we only got “good morning” in one of the eps. come onnnn.

anyways, one of the most fascinating things about rush/young is definitely just how physical they get with one another. they tussle a lot! and it’s always hands on! so my thesis is once their relationship really establishes and settles down (however much it can, although I do believe they can forge a real unbreakable bond or whatever) they just gonna channel those impulses into different areas aka fucking each other nasty adsfgjghjk. that’ll do them a lot of good. like seriously physical side of relationship, not just sex but non-sexual intimacy too, should come easy to them bc they already know each other intimately (but in a very violent context ofc).

my perhaps hottest take is that young needs to get topped by rush, at least once in a while. that would be very therapeutic…..ahem

yeah, yEAH, we needed more than just a 'good morning', I get that the show cannot be just two people show, but I really wish we had more of development there with these two. Guess that's what supposed to happen in s3, I mean everything was leading to that, but we will never know since it was cancelled, and I'm now forever pissed off about it.

young absolutely needs to be topped by rush, god, just think about it, rush who always tries to have control but usually loses it, he can't hold it, he always tries to get it and fails, and young who also tries to have control over everything, but actually does not want it? he is more like needing control over things because that's the only way he can pretend to have it all together, but honestly I think he would gladly give the control to smb else, if he trusted them enough. so young giving control over himself to rush intimately would be definitely therapeutic. I mean, that would be a catharsis of their relationship.

Im gonna be thinking about it now, just imagining what could lead them to that, and how they would act in the process and the aftermath of it all.

not sure they would handle it well though, I mean, that's young and rush, but they can do better, so here's hope lmao

So I finished Mob Psycho 100 the other day!! X3

Ngl, I didn’t care for this anime all that much, don’t get me wrong, it’s great!! Just def not in my tops! X3 Tho I will admit I enjoyed it better then I expected to, cuz in the beginning I was still struggling to watch it a bit, it was just okay! X,D But once s1 started to kick off, that’s when I started to enjoy it more!! I enjoyed s1 and 2, tho s3 was eh tbh, the ending was nice, but like, I find s3 wasn’t that great! X,3 The story was weak and bland imo!

Anyways!

Sorry if I upset any Mob lovers!! I love the characters and it was funny, but just the story itself was my issue! XD

Anyways, as for my fav character, mmmmm gosh that’s tough!! I really love Mob, Reigen, The Body Improvent Club, and Teru! X,D They’re all great, but currently in rewatching the series, and I gotta say, I think I lean more towards Reigen, cuz like despite being a conartist, he still helps his clients in some way! He actually earns his money, just may not be in the way the people expect! But hey, they can’t complain when he technically does help them in the end! X3 I adore him, and gosh his dub VA truly is amazing, I mean I knew he was amazing thx to Taiju, but geez seriously he’s phenomenal!! XD Stinken wish he could teach me a few things!!

X3 Cuz it would’ve felt so unsatisfying when we didn’t get anything from her end, cuz it always felt one sided, aside from maybe one ep! But even then, still felt one sided to me! X3 Plus they haven’t interacted in years according to Mob! So im glad that didn’t happen! X,D Mob deserves someone better imo! And Tsubomi ain’t it!

Oh and one more complaint, going back to s3!!! THEY CHANGED THE DUB VAs FOR MOB AND THE TELEPATH PREZ!! Like EXCUSE ME?! X,3 That got me so upset, cuz that voice made Mob, Mob!! So the change really upset me!! Like I could get kinda use to her change cuz she ain’t as apparent, even tho it did upset me cuz I love the va of her character in the first two seasons! But MOB?! Why him?! Why my boy?! It just ruined s3 more for me! X,3 While I appreciate the VA trying to keep it close to the original, it just wasn’t the same! It was very upsetting! X,3

Ep 3 p2

Mary's hunting trauma mentioned a bit more in depth but not yet addressed and her immediately sacrificing herself to Buri Baba to get Carrie and Ford are sooo very ... The Dean of it all vibes. As is Ford's words about Carrie and how it was on his watch. Mary and Ford talking was just chef's kiss tbh. As well as the fact that Mary struggles with her sense of self aka not knowing who she is if she's not of service aka hunting. And of course the Indiana Jones of it all is pure Dean too.

In other news, the "my folks made sure the house was super monster-proof" line from Mary has me losing my shit. How many times have we had this issue in SPN of there not being a possibility for hunters to have a main base (bunker doesn't count here, its clearly a special case) but here we have a well known hunting family able to have a well protected house so they don't disrupt every part of their childs life. And while I agree that post hell gate open(s2 fin) more threats were present, thay still does not excuse SPN!John from his bullshit.

I do love the hexbag mention tho, since we see that constantlt used in spn as both harmful and helpful, hell i think the 1st uses on spn are actually protection aka Missouri using it in Home to get rid of the poltergeist and Bella wanting a very old one from Gordon to keep herself safe from hell hounds in Fresh Blood. The use of it here is much closer resembling to its use in Home tho.

Carlos and Ada are the chaos twins in spnwin I've decided, but they are actually competent as opposed to Cas and Sam who tend to break shit (mostly themselves, sometimes the world). Carlos constantly being creeped out by Ada or Lana's darker vibes only to then absolutely admire and praise them is one of my fav things! The fact that Carlos' fighting style is capable but always as flashy as possible is a great bit of characterization. Ada constantly being just this side off of really fucking dark is also absolutely a great piece of character work. I still wish we'd have used the demons in plants thing in spn, but Crowley in rat was close.

Then we have the mention of Lata's father in the context of having told her the story of Buri Baba which... foreshadowing tbh. *special note* john just needs to learn to shut tf up sometimes, he has a bad habit of saying the stupidest thing possible *brought to you here by "contact your folks" hours*

Betty is hereeee!! In professional capacity mostly, but goddamn, John proposed when they were fucking 16 ish?? What was he thinking?! And what happened then, cuz it's heavily implied there was a fight between them. I've questions ok?? I will say John just jumping in no thoughts to the consequences of his decisions is perfectly in character tho.

Lata having to call home hurtttttsss. Hurts sooo bad knowing what actually happened, what her trauma is and how it affected her. God she's so strong to have done that. John doesn't even know how much he asked of her there, he can't. I will say tho, I very much love Lata and John's friendship, they balance each other out really well, he pushes just enough to get her past her freeze response but not so far it breaks her boundaries. And lata calms him down enough for him to actually stop and think before doing things. Love it! But I also love how John has almost that same effect on Mary that Lata has for him? Whereas Mary allows him the freedom to act and the tools to make the right choice before acting or at least give him the information he needs for that. All these characters interact so wonderfully and affect each other with every second of every scene and it's so clear.

In other news, I loooove the monster design, once more, because it's seriously fucked! And i love that!! Aaaaand we get Roxyyy properly for the 1st time!!!

Also really love seeing the actual effects of the day on the group, Ada taking out her trauma on the demon by plucking the leaves for having possessed her and Lata trying to shake herself out of her thoughts about her family and the shit thay comes with that while staring at the phone, John burning the sack, likely thinking about having almost lost Mary and Mary going to see a movie and trying to slowly start doing things for herself. Carlos sadly doesn't really have any lesson learnt here, but they are very much keeping a eye out on Ada, having noticed she's going through shit.

God, finally, these kids are just absolutely fantastic. Carrie ripping Bernice up and Ford just snapping the hair clip are such absolutely based decisions and just instant, no thoughts, just do it vibes. They're the best.

HAIKYUU!! yeah i love that anime (bokuto was one of my first anime crushes) and those episodes are so nostalgic to me ૮꒰˶ᵕ ༝ᵕ˶꒱ა (i'm actually remembering that scene where the principal's wig flew off and istg i laughed so hard. people were staring at me but idc)

I was in the middle of watching season 4 and I never got to finish it (i was actually looking forward to the miya twins) but yeah hq boys are so precious ଘ꒰੭˶• ༝ •˶꒱੭

TOKYO REVENGERS!! I liked the anime; since the eps are still in the making, I decided to read the manga and the last thing I remember is the fight between Terano south and Brahman? (if that's the name of the gang) i actually wrote for sanzu and hanma (hanma was probably the most likes i've gotten in the entirety of writing but eh whatevs) as well as the tokrev boys hcs. My fav character has to be Shiba Hakkai (he's baby and sweet. pun intended if you know the manga), Mitsuya (that man is a blessing. srsly.) and i really like the bonten symbols there have been days where i wanna get that tattooed but nvm. Lowkey though I am impressed with Kisaki Tetta. Like that man is so smart. *speechless*

One piece!! Zoro tho. Man ate and left no crumbs. I was actually thinking abt starting it this week (istg i always get interrupted when I'm watching anime)

As always its that time of the year I pretend to be an anime connoisseur and leave my review on this seasons anime so take it with a grain of salt asdfgh from the one I enjoyed the least to the most.

Wave!!: Surfing Yappe!! (TV)

You are seeing currently the only probably best thing about Wave asdfghj Tanaka bby I am SO sorry you got stuck here,,,,, Its bad because I had so many expectations for Wave but it just...... isn’t very good? The characters feel 2 dimensional, animation is veeeery average and the plot is all over the place? Dont even get me started on the Shou situation plot device that they just brushed over and went on with and,,,,,big sigh

Urasekai Picnic

To be honest is not very fair to compare this one to the rest as ive only watched the first 2 eps but ill catch up eventually asdfghj its not bad just that the plot didnt capture me as much as I hoped but the two main characters cutiess the plot just confuses me asdfgh but I don't have much to say about it

Yakusoku no Neverland 2nd Season

The main girl I cant remember the name of sucks and main dude is very normal asdfgh the plot is basically “Want people to like you? change everything about yourself and become a normie robot!!!” ASDFGHJ Like its so over the top and cringe at times it becomes very confusing but hey I am not caught up either so I may change opinions (x doubt tho)

2.43: Seiin Koukou Danshi Volley-bu

From this point onwards I basically like everything. 2.43 Started suuuuper strong for me, definitely thought it would be one of my favs this season but as the eps went by I just.... kinda lost interest asdfgh? Like its not bad, but its a sort of mix between Stars Align and Haikyuu where I would have loved a more character based story with dark subplots like Stars Align but got the parts I always criticize about Haikyuu were there was a point I didn't really knew any of the characters? ASDFGH like the enemy team is super cool and Love their designs but if you ask me to tell you anything about them I already forgot rip. Its still cute and the animation is cool but yeah it kind of disappointed me in the end a bit ;w;

Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season

AOT Is so sexci because it keeps on hurting me and I come back every-time for it ASDFGHJ Not much to say that hasn't been said, characters are super interesting, plot is a bit confusing at times for me to follow but amazing and I just :))) could go on about certain characters :))))) but I wont :))))

Wonder Egg Priority

Wonder egg priority is very talked about right now so I wont get too much into it other than definitely give it a watch if you like the more philosophical and “makes you reflect on your life choices” sort of anime ASDFGHJ the visuals are stunning and the characters very well build, although I am very confused at times I am still enjoying it tons ^^ Trigger warning however for some heavy topics I recommend checking the warnings before watching it <3

Kemono Jihen

I LOVE THEM OKaY? asdfghjk Kemono Jihen gives me the found family topes and I eat them all right up, I love the characters , their designs, the plot, everything. To be fair tho, I did enjoy the manga more than the anime but maybe its a pacing thing? idk but I definitely recommend 100% taking on the manga and maybe after watch the anime but I am enjoying it tons!!

Kai Byoui Ramune

This one may come as a surprise lol?? Like I haven't seen a single soul talk about Ramune but like??? I am actually enjoying it a lot?? and look forward every week for the ep? asdfghj Like yes I will be the first to admit the animation isn't really the beeeeest out there but the plot is funny while also being serious, the characters are quirky and interesting to keep the flow going and I am liking the undertone heavy messages? the soundtrack also slaps imo and yeah I would definitely say to watch the first ep and if you like that sort of dynamic take it up on the rest!

I★Chu: Halfway Through the Idol

Okay I will be the first one to admit this is just me being trash for the idol shows but like?? its my list so I get to decide which found family I am screaming about next ASDFGHJ. As an avid A3 stan this gave me serious vibes of my boys (plus they were made form the same company so like not very surprised there loll) and like I think the characters are cute with adorable relationships and cute songs and its just a lighthearted show I sit down every Wednesday and smile through the 25 minutes so yes I Chu deserves a high spot and yes I recommend it even if it has like a 6.3 on myanimelist sksksks

Dr. Stone: Stone Wars

Look at Gen!!!! enough reasons to watch dr stone!!!! ASDFGH but in all seriousness I....... love them okAy? The plot is amazing and the characters are super entertaining (hiiii Ukyo Gen Senku and Chrome muak) and although it may seem a bit slower paced than first season the arc is gonna get better and better and the finale is gonna be great if they stick to the manga. Only sad that I dont get to see my pirate fuckboy but we better be getting a third season

Okaaaaay this is also me being a bitch for sports anime but like, again, are we surprised?? ASDFGHJ It may be my love for Hayato speaking but ive absolutely loves Skate Leading Stars, I love the group, the main characters, the ships, the routines and its so pretty and they are in love and like the competition and asdfgh its gOoD OKaY??? Watch it if anything for Hayato 👉🏻 👈🏻 My bastard bitch I love the gremlin.

Beastars 2nd Season

I think we are all sleeping on Beastars brushing it off as a furry show. I don’t speak enough about it and I am not one to go about poetic cinemaness on main but beastars is a very poetic cinema show and yall sleeping on it. Coming from someone who was uncomfortable at first with the whole animal relationships part at first, just know beastars is so much more than that, it has a complicated plot with critics about the society within the show with amazing characters, great soundtrack and animation plus banger plot. Pina, Jack, Juno and Legoshi best characters and every week I look forward for the next eps so I hope yall go give it some love.

SK8 The Infinity

If it wasnt clear from my spam every Saturday that I am absolutely in love with this show I dont know what to tell you ASDFGHJ. Sk8 has an amazing range of characters I find fascinating, specially Reki, very much so everything Reki asdfgh but yeah!! Its super entertaining with an interesting plot and its definetely becoming one of my favorite animes because the amount of times ive rewatched the episodes to cope is kind of embarrassing lmaooo, definetely give it a try although I understand its not for everyone but like,,,,, do it for Reki? 🤧👉🏻👈🏻

Fans will complain that their fav character hasn’t shown up yet and that their headcanons during the hiatus isn’t actually canon.

But in all seriousness, since they had S3 cut into 3 specials, chances r that S2B will start off with soft, pleasant eps but rev up to a season finale beginning a war to stop the Day of Unity/dealing the it’s aftermath.

Luz will probably b a bit worried about going home tho’ since that’ll mean leaving her (awesome) girlfriend Amity forever, which Amity’ll probably pick up that something’s wrong.

Hunter will try to please Belos more but starts seeing things Luz’s way

Since Willow didn’t have an Ep in S2A, she’d more than likely get one or two in 2B (hopefully something with the head of the Plant Coven).

Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

My School President (Fri YT) ep 12fin - Them openly dating and flirting with each other (finally) while keeping it “secret” was hilarious. No surprise they got outed tho. The whole “coming out homophobic teacher” sequence was very extra but suited this show. And ending with prom could not be more YA. Plus smiley kisses! 

CONCLUSION?

GMMTV gave us a classic high school set Thai BL with tropes like messy boys singing their feelings that was Love Sick for the modern age with all the gentle sweetness and pining ache, but none of the dated damaging tropes or issues.  Yes, we’ve seen it all before, but this is me: I ADORE this shit. Who let my BL be this wholesome and funny? This show was fantastic, it’s only flaw was the singing (and that’s my baggage). My favorite GMMTV offering to date. 9/10 (could go as high as 9.5 on my more forgiving days) 

Bed Friend (Sat YT, GaGa & iQIYI uncut) ep 2 of 8 - I’m ending my week with this one these days. I feel like this is an EXCELLENT life decision. King’s pining is WBL levels of EPIC. Uea’s ma may be the worst ma in Thai BL (and that’s some stiff competition.) Ah getting tested together, such a right of passage. I like King a lot, his attitude, life philosophy, the way he looks an Uea, everything. This show is GREAT.

Moonlight Chicken (Weds YT) eps 5-6 of 8 - The break up btw Wen & Alan was really hard to watch, both actors are so good. Speaking of good actors, where did GeminiFourth come from? Seriously? I love these characters almost as a much as TinnGun. Heart’s parents are EVIL. Told ya they’d kiss as this couple bf TinnGun. Back of head wrap ‘Kiss’ tho, haven’t seen one of those from Thailand in ages. Old school. And then Khaotung just broadsides us with PAIN. This is such an aces show, but it is A LOT. 

Never Let Me Go (Tues YT) ep 11 of 12 - More cute BF intercut with agony. Holy role reversal dad butler! Otherwise a somewhat lackluster ep 11 of DOOM as dooms go, but I’m okay with that. 

Chains of Heart (Sat iQIYI) 1-2 of 10 - This is a suspense thriller about smugglers, amnesia, and lost love. Haii is good (and gorgeous) in the lead but the story is choppy, disjoined, and confusing. May be intentional, bad writing, or the captions being particularly bad (or all 3). It’s an interesting and different start. Not good but interesting. It reminds me a little of Manner of Death only with better action sequences. But I’m not sold on it because MoD had MaxTul, and this... does not. Ep 2 did not improve matters. When Ken & Lue flirt it’s fine and the Thai food bits were fun. (Kao Soi is one of my fav northern dishes, I’m sad he didn’t get to finish it.) At the funeral, why are they all texting when it can be traced and they could just be talking to each other? Honestly, everybody behaves like an idiot in this show. So I guess this is a revenge narrative? I’m so confused. They pretty tho, so I’ll keep watching because I am weak, but if you can wait, I think this is one that’s gonna be better as a binge. 

Our Winter (Thai & Korea YT & TikTok under ThaiMiniSeries) eps 1-7 of 14 - TutorYim microseries, told in vertical (TikTok) shorts. (Thanks to the BL spies for reporting in.) Cute Trope snippits but Korean is HARD to understand with a Thai accent. I’m not watching it with Eng subs and I’m not wild about this style short form but still - cute. Funny how they styled TutorYim so that they look slightly Korean - wardrobe and makeup wizardry. 

Hit Bite Love (Sat YT) ep 6 fin - Degrassi Junior BL concludes in a very soap opera way, with new characters and new/extra drama. Trigger warning on the original trigger. The investigating cop was super hot tho. Can we give him a BL? Also I liked the final scene makeup tons. But honestly what a total mess. I don’t know what i just watched and neither does it. 3/10 (sorry babies)  

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

HIStory 5: Love in the Future (Taiwan Weds Viki) ep 9 of 10 (or 17&18 of 20) - Kind of a filler ep and lackluster for a penultimate DOOM installment. But the HIStory franchise gets this way sometimes. 

Jack o’Frost (Japan GaGa) ep 2 of 6 - I’m finding it a bit dull.

My Beautiful Man 2 (Viki & Gaga) - Because there are only 4 eps, I’m waiting to binge this.

Boyband ep 2 of 10 - Stopped airing on YouTube, and only available in Thailand & Japan. Not sure if they’re working a distribution deal or just fucking with us. 

Destiny Seeker (Tues WeTV ) 10 eps - it’s not on any WeTV I can get ahold of. Bad Buddy the pulp rebirth meets Japanese handsome host club action. FairyGodBLer came through for me, but I’m collecting to binge just in case. It’s my new policy with the grey stuff. 

Cafe In Love (Thai) 10 eps on Ch3+ - Thai pulp, about trying to save a coffee shop. Same as above. 

Gossip

Thailand’s famous gay pink milk comes to Oakland, CA, USA. This amuses me greatly. And yes, next time I’m in the area, I’ll probably try to hunt it down.  (What is Pink Milk?) 

Kim Ji Woong is doing fine on Produce 101 5 Boys Planet. I agree with the pundits that he’ll likely make it through. (Yes, I think he’s a better actor than idol, and yes, we will mostly lose him from BL if he goes all in with whatever group results from this.) But does that matter when Peak Time is also airing? No, because Peak Time is MUCH better and more interesting show and it has Karam (Happy Ending Romance) fucking KILLING IT. You all know I love Leo’s voice but clearly VIXX-euphoria distracted me, because I had no idea Karam was such a stable vocalist. He’s insane and it’s fun to watch a 2nd gen fucking SERVE it up (have you ANY idea how hard Mirotic is to do LIVE?).

Viki has acquired the airing rights to Advance Bravely. We can’t expect it to be much altered, but at least it will be legally available, and one hopes the subs will improve.

Viki added The Eighth Sense to their upcoming KBL roster, new one to me. “A university romance about the confusion often felt by college youth regarding life and love.” 

KBL A Shoulder to Cry On AKA Comfort the Boy coming to Viki, March 13. (MUCH anticipated by me, this is a high school set hurt/comfort delayed by OMGEA X scandal.) This will be the first BL to star idols from the same group! Fingers crossed it’s good because this is a group that definitely needs BL’s support.

My top 5 are: 5- Jane (I hate her as a person, but I really like her character, minus that pathetic s3 ending. Bitch broke my heart) 4- Omid and Christa (they are a true married couple and can share the slot <3) 3- Carley (yes, my 3rd fav is a character who had only a handful of scenes, but in my defense she stole them. The radio thing? Keeping Lee's secret and not being judgy? Not taking Lilly's shit? What a woman) 2- Clem (my little girl. I love her sm. She's almost my fav.) 1- Lee (He def has the coolest arc out of everyone. He is a honestly good person who did a very shitty thing, and now he's tasked with symbolically keeping humanity from becoming monsters. 10/10)

My bottom 5 are: 5- David (Yall know messed up family relationships are my shit, but I can't with this dude. He gave me no reason to be invested except for "we're siblings". As an older sister, I can't with him.) 4- Carver (????????? He was such a strange villain that was so easily dealt with. Also he gave an 11 year old the "We're not so different" talk so I can't take him seriously) 3- Nick (They really didn't try with him at all. EVERYONE has a sad backstory in these games, writers) 2- Bonnie (She's supposed to be the kind, soft one, but that goes out of the window. At first it was fun to see her rationalizing, but she made me so upset in ep 5) 1- Arvo (I hate this character with such a burning passion. He isn't even a character, he is just there to make me upset and sad and let Kenny be an asshole)

Gosh dang tho seriously!! This anime is a masterpiece!! At least to me it was! XD It’s just sooo gosh dang good!!!!

I’m seriously gonna miss it a ton!! I was withholding the last ep, cuz I wasn’t ready to finish it! Plus I was scared of all the other possibilities of character deaths! XD Thankfully it ended satisfying enough! X3 So I’m happy! Cuz I was wandering how on earth they were gonna finish with just 3 more eps, with so much!! But they did well!! So that’s a relief!!

Celty is still my fav overall, but dang this show has a lot of good characters!! Majority of them are so good!!!!

Even Izaya to an extent!! I was so conflicted at one point cuz I was so worried someone was gonna die!! Like I was settling for at least Izaya, cuz it would hurt me more if it were Shizuo!! I mean I like Izaya, but I also don’t like him!! XD So if one were to die, I rathered him! XD

Geez this show brought me on an emotional and conflicting rollercoaster! XD Especially this season! Sticken Mikado kept creeping me out, and scaring me! THAT BOY NEEDS A GOOD SMACK UPSIDE THE HEAD!! Someone screw his head back on, my gosh!!! (No offense to Celty! XD) I love him, but geez he needs therapy! Honestly, they all do! XD

Anyway, the fact Shinra broke through the controll of the main Sika, THE MAIN ONE GUYS!!! All cuz of his love and will for Celty, I just-

-did. did tucker really just say esperanto was a dead language only spoken as a secret code between geeks. google says around 100,000 people actively speak it. oh my god...it being an auxiliary language doesn't mean its 'just for geeks to speak in code' ...it helps bridge gaps between people who don't have a language in common...

-danny really isn't pulling punches when it comes to fighting the ghost-cop possessed people huh. like he SLAMMED KWAN INTO THE CONCRETE SO HARD. (I just want more people to watch my fav yugioh, man)

-at this point, Danny's ghost enemies are a lot like, I dunno, batman's rouge gallery is the first thing that comes to mind. they all have their own gimmick and unique designs, but most of them are easy to beat after learning the Moral Lesson. I still get excited when any of them show up again, though. 18 is another valerie episode!!!! :D skulker really said you two will get along if I have to handcuff you together <3 and the gym teacher really said, youre married now, have a flour baby! ngl, I'm not really watching this show for the shipping stuff (which I am very scared to look at the fandom for after I finish this watch through- I feel like there's probably discourse/arguing about ships...) but. I'm gonna put my opinion out there. valerie/danny > sam/danny. maybe I just really love the enemies to lovers trope. And the secret identity stuff adds Extra Flavor.

He was just taking an opportunity to get that $$ which I respect

-Danny being more understanding of Valerie's situation in the end (helping her at her job, too, and trying to keep that a secret for her!!!) And seeing them work together this ep, and also her letting phantom get her out of the ghost zone...was very sweet. LOVE that. more valerie eps pls

-'my family has controlled ghosts with this for generations!' WAIT. WAIT FREAKSHOW /ISNT/ A GHOST? I didn't expect that...he's just a fucked up guy controlling ghosts? anyway watching danny shoot at police cars and rob banks while mind controlled. its like, the most stereotypical 'bad' things lmao. (tbh an evil ghost circus troupe is a sick concept)

Alright so I can’t stop thinking of RVB Zero and how much potential it has so I wanna rework it a bit to work better.

So first I’m gonna talk about the new characters and what I’d change before breaking down the individual episodes for critique and suggested rewrites. At this point, I’ve only seen up to episode 4, Encounter. So spoilers till that ep. 

West - Honestly great! He doesn’t have a ton of character, but what he has is solid. He works very well as the gruff, no-nonsense leader who’s a tiny bit of a dad.

Raymond - Also great! He’s the most classic RVB character, as he’s an underdog who’s not the best at fighting, but has a lot of heart. My fav new character, right next to Tiny.

One - I want to change her to 2nd in command and drop the whole “can’t work within a team” thing. Keep the confidence and slight rudeness, but drop all the lines referencing anti-teamwork. It hasn’t factored into the story so far, One has been successfully working as part of the team for all the episodes. This would make her dynamic with Axel more interesting, being in a higher position of power. Especially considering how her healthy relationship with her dad contrasts with East and West’s relationship. This would reinforce the tension with East, since One now has an actual position of power over her. Also, she should have the exact same powers as Zero, but maybe less powerful. This would help foreshadow that reveal, and help us understand how the enhancements work. While One is a bit of a shit, and thinks she knows best, she’s willing to take the fall when her ideas fail or get them in trouble.

Axel - Imma be honest: totally forgot he was One’s adopted dad until I rewatched the episodes prepping for this. You could drop it totally, as it gets a bit redundant with West and East’s relationship, but I think there’s more fun in working with it. Also, if One’s 2nd in command and Axel isn’t insecure about it at all? Instantly makes him a more likable guy. I also think he parallels to Wash very well (bit of a kid at heart, weapons guy, team dad, emotional heart) so we’re gonna expand on that too.

East - Her and One’s relationship is the driving force of conflict within the strike team. With the changes made to One, East can stay pretty much unchanged. Before they were too similar. Now, with One being abrasive but willing to work together, and East being more reserved and distant, they’re great foils for each other. Also she parallels early Carolina, which I love (speed is her ability, prefers working alone, competitive as hell, dad runs team)

Villains: On characterization, they’re all good! Villains are allowed to be a bit more shallow, and they all seem to have understandable motives for what they’re doing: Zero wants revenge and power, Phase wants revenge especially against West, and Diesel just seems like he’s having fun. I do want to change Zero’s power tho, with Phase already having a teleport with a cool gimmick, and Diesel having a strength/tank ability, Zero should have a unique ability. Maybe gravity because of the sword? It would allow him some cool movement tricks while still being visually distinct from Diesel and Phase’s abilities. Or something inspired by his “ghost” line from Duo.

EP 1: Viper

The Good: The introduction to the villains and their abilities was amazing. I love Phase’s knife and it’s honestly one of the coolest things I’ve seen in the show. And the intro to the Strike team? Hilarious. Great character work. You can tell that One and Axel are close, that Raymond is hesitant and new, East and One have a very competitive relationship, and West is the tough love dad.

The Bad: Don’t violate the 180 camera rule. The intro fight scene was cool, but the camera moved way too much and made it hard to keep track of everything happening. And with the new, shiny art style we need a bit more time to absorb what’s happening since the detail level went up. Also y’all healed Wash’s brain damage with a throwaway line, and then immediately fridged him? Not cool. I mean, if you wanted to show how tough the villains are, you already had them beat up Carolina.

Story Changes: - Zero gets name dropped this ep so we get a scene next ep where Axel recognizes his name. - Either replace Wash with a high ranking soldier and completely scrub him from the episode, or give a different reason why he can’t help, maybe exactly Carolina’s reason of “you’re recovering”. I’m not committing to totally removing Wash bc in Recovery Carolina’s line of “That I-that we thought was a medium risk asset” hints that Wash knew exactly what they were carrying and I’m excited to see where they take that. - Mainly I want scenes of Wash talking to Axel and expanding on his characterization as they are both Nice Boys Who Have Been Through It. - I also think a scene after we meet Strike where Axel asks Raymond “You like riding with East?” and Ray goes “You two stuck me with her on purpose!” and One goes “Yup!” all cheerfully. Just reinforce those team dynamics and friendships before it goes to shit!

EP 2: Recovery

The Good: The garage scene was perfect. Tiny is amazing, love her so much! And Axel got such great characterization during this ep. What a dork. West and Raymond also work super well together, their interactions are great.

The Bad:You know it’s a problem when the villains have a better dynamic than the heroes. The scene where Carolina explains all the strike member’s abilities and personalities? Bad. Also a little OOC for her. And redundant, since we also get Raymond asking West about East, and Axel’s explanation of the girls to Carolina.

Story Changes: - Have Axel, the emotional heart, waiting outside the recovery room for Carolina. Honestly, this isn’t that big, but I think it’d suit his character. - Carolina’s exposition is changed to solely history and abilities, no commenting on their personalities. Maybe East gets a little “has shown difficulty in working with others” but that’s it. The physical acting for these scenes really shines through, so let it stand alone. Even watching without sound, you can pick up that West is a no-nonsense leader, that Axel isn’t a flashy fighter but gets the job done, that East is fairly young and doesn’t take fighting seriously, and that One is willing to leave others behind if she thinks she can do it better. - For Carolina’s convo with One this ep about her “not willing to work on a team” either swap One with East or change it to “you need to listen to your team more. Don’t assume that you immediately now what’s best” - At the end of training, when Axel says “the guards were priority #1″ One should say “I knew you could handle it.” and Axel could respond with “Well, it’d be nice if you let me know that.” to show that One can work well as 2nd in command, but needs to communicate and stop assuming things. -Also should change Axel’s warning line about her enhancements to “Don’t push yourself. Remember what happened last time?” to enforce that this is a habit, and that while he cares about her, he’s not trying to boss her around as much. -Don’t reveal that East is West’s daughter until Raymond and West talk. That way, there’s a bit more emotional weight, and Ray’s line of “I was digging through the team files” makes more sense if Carolina doesn’t drop that info in the previous scene. - When Axel talks about the experiments East went through, he should mention that he was there for some of them. Dropping more foreshadowing for the Axel/Zero reveal! - Carolina drops Zero’s name in their convo, and we get a shot of Axel’s hand tightening on his weapon, showing the audience that the name means something to him, but we don’t know why.

EP 3: Duo

The Good: First 3rd of the ep? Really good. I love One being rude to Carolina, and then gaining a grudging respect. West and Raymond are, again, the best dynamic. How? I honestly have no idea. The car looks so stupid in the funniest way, I hate it but I love it. Also god yes Axel and Zero’s relationship is so wholesome and could be the best thing in this season. One’s warning call to the facility? The funniest shit. And Zero’s dialogue is hella cliched, but it works bc he’s obv such a dramatic bitch.

The Bad: HOLY HELL THE DIALOGUE. First, One and East’s fight? garbage. Very forced. Super hard to believe these two are real people. Carolina and West literally repeat the exact same line, less than 5 seconds apart. The dishwasher joke West makes does NOT at all work, it’s too tonally dissonant.

Story Changes: - Obv. need to change One and East’s convo. End it with “Without your power, you wouldn’t even be on this team!” East should storm off or almost attack One, requiring Axel to diffuse. - It’d also be really nice to get a line where One acknowledges that she went too far with that, but puts off apologizing to East. It’d be a nod that she’s good at reflecting and assessing, but too proud to actually take her words back. - I’d like to make Raymond more panicked when they find Wash. It’d help sell that he’s in bad shape and add more weight to “He’s got a heartbeat!” - Maybe re-work Phase and Zero’s conversation a bit. The dialogue is definitely not this season’s strong suit. - Pull Carolina’s “I’m just trying to help, East.” since it’s more impactful for East to storm off immediately and West says the line a couple seconds later. And change East’s dialogue to “You may be my CO, but don’t try to be my dad. Not after what you’ve done.” Or something similar. - For the dishwasher gag in the meeting, either pull it or double down. It’d work so much better if someone asks “Are you serious about this? Aren’t there more important things to discuss?” and West just deadpans. “This is of the upmost importance. If we can’t keep this base clean, how can we be expected to do anything else?!” and then Carolina clears her throat super loud and West goes “...Right. Rookie? Take it from here.” - Rework the “Carolina stay behind” dialogue. Even just a “Carolina. You’re still recovering. If you get hurt again, it’ll just be longer till you can take these bastards down. Keep an eye on Wash, will you?” I just couldn’t get behind the wording of “we need you here. With wash” It sounds like every cliched “woman must stay behind while the manly men save everyone!” Might be personal preference but just ew. - Add a scene where One notices Axel being a bit off (bc he’s worried about Zero being a part of the bad guy team) and she asks if he’s okay. He brushes her off, says its nothing. She goes “alright, i trust you.” - Maybe make the flashback a bit more apparent? There was a moment in the middle where I questioned whether or not it was a flashback. Again, could be a me problem.

EP 4: Encounter

The Good: The fight scenes continue to be absolute standouts. The varied environments, the movement, the dynamics on point. Wish we could’ve saw a bit more from Axel, but as is the scene worked well. The framing of the ep was good too, cutting between the mission and the fallout. And Ray, resident coward, immediately squaring up without a thought after West got injured? *chef’s kiss*. THAT is good character development. THAT is an amazing way to establish their relationship without telling us outright. Go feral, my boy! And Tiny and Raymond’s convo was so cute. I love how, despite what he says, Ray is there for his team and always willing to help. Carolina and One’s convo was also pretty decent. It got a bit long and over-explainy on Carolina’s end, but there were some pretty good moments.

The Bad: The fight after the mission failure was SO over-acted. Too much motion, to many camera angles. It changed what should have been tense arguments to hilarious melodrama. This has been a consistent problem, but it REALLY affects this scene in particular. And the second Axel enters the scene it just immediately goes downhill.

Story Changes: - Add a line from West in the beginning scene like “I’ll cut them off!” to explain why he isn’t in the car too. This also means it’s not as out-of-nowhere when West shows up to trash the car. - One should call out Axel instead of East. If she’s his daughter, she should be able to tell when he’s acting off. And she would have an easier time connecting the dots between Axel and Zero. - Instead of “I trusted you.” One should say “You lied to me.” 1) He’s her dad. One lie isn’t gonna break her total trust. 2) This would imply it’s the first time he’s lied to her, adding more weight to the whole situation 3) It’s way more accusatory and less cliched (if only a bit) - Add in a “One, wait!” bc I am a sucker for it and we could hear the guilt in his voice, rather than the weird scene where the girls make him spin around by bumping into him. - It’d also be nice if Ray stayed back for a bit before leaving, so we got a bit of his feelings on the matter. I mean, obviously he cares a lot about West, but does he blame Axel for not being there to help? It’d be nice to know!

TL;DR The best parts of the episodes are the fight scenes, and when they focus on the fun team dynamics. The worst parts are dialogue (mostly the serious bits) and over-animating, as this takes away from the drama.

I don’t mind the cheesy villains, but that may not be the case for everyone.

The best part of RVB has always been the rag-tag found family dynamics. While the fight scenes are cool, they have always been supplemental to the real meat of the show. The writers are trying something new with the whole “actual family” but you have got to focus on and develop these relationships if you want fans to care.

Mostly, I see a lot of potential in these characters, but there are GLARING issues in this season that are holding them back.

What have I been doing with my life (2020)

Wrap up of all the dramas I remember watching this year, roughly in order of when I watched them and how much I liked them - totally subjective and not based on quality or anything else. There were LOTS of dramas I meant to watch (Hikaru no Go, Bad kids, Romance of Tiger and Rose) but didn’t get to. This list includes Cdramas, Kdramas and KO One (Zhongji) series which is kinda it’s own thing. Last time I just listed them but this time I’m indulging in a little commentary - titles in bold i might even watch again.

fave cdrama from 2020: Love is Sweet (really? who wrote this? it’s not wuxia?? I hate rom-coms!! wth???) ok, ok, tied with Ancient Detective (phew, that’s more like it.)

fave cdrama I watched this year: Nirvana in Fire (2015)

Ever night (2018) why did no one tell me to watch this before? holy crap real wuxia. the plot, world-building, setting, characters, production were all fabulous. tbh the weakest part was the end (a common lament of mine). secondary characters were all my faves, next to the scenery. cfy was ok, but not amazing so ....that’s how I feel about that.

Nirvana in Fire (2015) glad I didn’t watch this until now because basically all i can think of when I watch a drama is...why the f* can’t this be even half as good as NiF? seriously, now that I know they can make good dramas, it makes the bad ones seem even worse. A classic, you don’t need my recommendation on this one.

The Ghost Bride (2020) based on a YA novel. Super good (tho I didn’t read the novel). I even recommended it to non-drama watching friends because it’s short and on Netflix.

Ancient Detective (2020) I just really really enjoyed this, ok? best friends squad with a little romance. plot rips off English country house mystery format but then has a twist at the end. bonus himbo. sad it likely won’t get a S2 because it ended on a cliffhanger.

Mystic pop-up bar (2020) I laughed, I cried. Fav kdrama this year tho I didn’t watch many, including most ppls’ favorites.

Love is sweet (2020) brainless, tooth-rotting fluff. exactly what i needed in this nuclear tire fire of a year. silly. bai lu and gao hanyu were great. lyx is my emotional support actor (but you knew that already.)

Joy of Life (2019) finished it in January I’m allowing myself to stick it on the 2020 list because it’s so good.

KO One (2005) and KO One Re-act (2013): KO One is my comfort food show now - watched it for the third time due to Reasons. Silly, stupid humor with heart.The theme song is my ring tone. Re-act has been the most enjoyable of the Zhongji series sequels for me. (Fun fact: lyx acted in one of the Zhongji series “Ultimate Ranger.” I WISH I could find a place to watch it.)

Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty (2020) - enjoyable. found family is my jam. great food pr0n, needless killing off of a certain character I will not name

Kingdom S2 (2020): cromulent sequel, annoyingly short season

Wu Xin the monster killer (2015) - a sleeper. I really enjoyed this, looking forward to watching the sequels. Elvis Han and Ian Wang were great, but all the actors were good, plot moved briskly, had lots of humor and action, music was less annoying than most dramas (for me)

Fighter of the Destiny (2017) - not done with this yet but this is the kind of fluffy xianxia I like - again, best friends squad with less emphasis on the sappy romance. Gao Hanyu is adorable. Lu Han is...pretty good?? (downside: Janice Wu’s character is kinda annoying)

Handsome Siblings (2020) - they...did not look at all alike. was that supposed to be funny? supporting characters were A+

The Uncanny Counter (on air) (2020) - amount of emotional gut punches per episode borders on viewer abuse. blatant tearjerker.

Legend of Fei (2020) - so far not compelling (up to ep 12) but i’ll eventually finish it because wyb’s character is fun and i like the supporting characters

Tale of the nine-tailed (2020) - though it seemed up my alley I forced myself to watch it. secondary characters were way better than the leads

The Devil Punisher (on air) (2020) cheap and cheesy, but more fun than Uncanny Counter. Don’t @ me

KO One Re-member (2016) No Jiro, but at least we got Wes back - too bad his character was nowhere near as fun as Huang Zhong in KO 3guo.

KO One Re-turn (2012) Dragged a lot.

And the Winner is Love (2020) - you know how much I love lyx but this is on the bottom of the list because after watching the whole thing I got really really depressed. like really. depressed. it wasn’t just that the drama was a complete let down (it was) idk. i’m always going to associate it with losing that last little bit of my will to give a crap about anything.

Winter Begonia (2020) - abandoned after 3 eps. I just wasn’t in the mood for this, though I like jing ju. may try again another time

The Wolf (2020) - abandoned after 3 eps. if you’ve read this far down I’ll let you in on a secret - Darren Wang looks terrible in a wig.

Haha It’s actually a very hard question, cause with Akakuro it happened very gradually. Cause I usually don’t like ship ship anything until I see the whole picture, cause I’m very picky and need lots of different “points” to ship something. But I have the moment when I’m like “oh I’m into this” (like Rinharu fence scene) and then it grows grows and there’s a moment when I go “well, that seals it, 100% my otp” (like ep 12). So I was completely sure with Akakuro the moment Kuroko brought him back and Oreshi said "maybe it’s all because of Kuroko” and Bokushi made a surprised face haha like “oh shit”.

I was intrigued from the moment Murasakibara said that “Akashi created Kuroko”, I was like “ohoho well, this should be interesting”. They also built up the Akashi’s appearence so freaking good, I was so excited. But also it was mainly all Kuroko related. Like Aomine trying to hurt Kuroko during the game by this:

(now when I’m rewatching and know what it means for Kuroko I’m like “no, bitch you didn’t haha)

The “Kuroko is defferent moment”, etc.

And I was like “OKKAAAY WHO THE FUCK IS AKASHI?”

It just got weirder after with stuff like the whole GOM silently waiting for Akashi and Kuroko leaving 10 minutes before the game, just cause Akashi texted him that they need to talk lmao. 

The moment I decided “I’m into it” was Teiko flashbacks of course, they easily had the most interesting dynamic in the GOM, and it was basically all about them. It was also very funny seeing Kuroko like this, cause like if you can maybe explain Akashi’s staring at him during their fisrt meet as him “observing” him as a player, why Kuroko stared at him for 10 minutes I have no idea lol

Then he just kept staring haha:

(now after knowing about his life motto “one encounter can change your life” and him reading light novels, I think maybe he thought he has found his prince xD)

Then the fact that Akashi appeared and gave him what he wanted at the moment when Kuroko was losing all the hope and crying was very telling, I think. Seeing him glow and smile and jump when he finally got into the team certainly melted my heart. 

(later the manga “it’s all because of you” scene really killed me tho, cause I never expected Kuroko to say such speech, and Akashi being like “no, baby it’s you” T_T).

Another huge point for me was all the moments where Kuroko was trying to help Akashi as much as he could, when everybody started headbutting:

cause he was the only one worried about his well being after they dropped the whole GOM team on him:

I was really sad that he wasn’t there, when Murasakibara brought Akashi to the edge (while Kuroko was trying to put Aomine’s brains in place), and he came back already to Bokushi, who already weren’t on the side of bringing anyone together, cause “fuck these bitches” lol. It was kinda funny, cause everything was okay at first, but then Kuroko was like.. excuse me?

It’s actually sad tho, cause they ready tried so hard to make this sinking boat stay afloat :(

It was the moment when he started crying during their... usual evening together (?), that I knew that losing Akashi was the most painful to Kuroko, cause he clearly thought that they’re gonna get through this together.

Bokushi still watching over Kuroko every second, while he didn’t give a fuck about anyone else made me realize that Kuroko is definitely special for him. The obviously jealous scene with Ogiwara was hilarious tbh. I can’t believe he went “And who are you to Tetsuya exactly?” and then “You’re gonna lose of course, but still good luck to ya.” lmao I legit thought he might kill him and bury the body:

The only person who can make Kuroko’s heart break into pieces of course turned out Akashi:

The only person who can bring Akashi back turned out of course Kuroko.

Akashi’s uniform staying Teiko colors and him searching for “another Kuroko” was pretty sad, but became borderline heartbreaking, after his Winter Cup interview tbh (I’m forever yelling about this, cause I never thought it would be officially confirmed ever, so I was running around being like see, see, he confessed to his face!).

Kuroko going absolutely nuts after he found out that Akashi found a “replacement for him” was just incredible. I mean, I seriously never saw him like that. 

Same for Akashi trying to make him jealous and literally wantching Kuroko’s reaction to this on the field. 

Kuroko stumbling and missing the ball when Oreshi comes back, cuts him off and calls him “Kuroko” is probably my favorite. He was so flirting, look at this cat:

I was long gone after that. Kuroko’s face while seeing Akashi holding out his hand to him is just the cutest. 

I also love the black background like the whole world faded classics, that never happened after other GOM matches, same as Kuroko catching his hand in both of his. 

But well, we all have favorites, right Kuroko? haha

After the birthday ova I was a puddle of goo. Firstly, Murasakibara not wanting to go to Kuroko’s birthday and Akashi calling him and creating a friendly match, just so Kuroko had the whole gang together was very sweet of him, but Kuroko being completely smitten was the whole new level of cuteness.

So it was more of a process, than one moment, I think, but I definitely put my eyes on them since the flashbacks. 

But after all the additional stuff that I’ve read after watching, they just became my top favs :) Cause I mean, they’re really incredible.

Tbh, I’m also a sucker for the love stories, when some character have two sides like yin and yang and both of them are “weak” when it comes to one person. Same goes for “only you can bringing him back from the “dark side”” stuff.

I’m glad you started Free!, I remember you said it was good, tell me who’s your fav and who u ship <3 Well, yeah, I wasn’t dissing anyone, I had legit arguments and was just expressing my opinion, but all I got back was “your taste is trash”, “I couldn’t read the whole thing”, “Haru is a cardboard”, “Free! is stupid” which are of course a very valid points... if you’re 5 haha So don’t worry, I find it funny actually.
