Ichiro

months have passed since the last time ichiro saw you back at chuohku, and he still had a heavy heart each and every time he thought about what had happened

as much as he hated your decision, as much as it hurt him, at the end of the day, it was what you had chosen (even if it didn’t seem like you were you in the moment), and ichiro couldn’t do much about that

he thought that he had moved on after months of pondering and healing. ichiro had foolishly thought that if you were to show up at his doorstep the very next day, after having disappeared and lost contact with him, then all those old feelings wouldn’t resurface

but he was dead wrong

when he found you at odd jobs yamada, avoiding his gaze as to hide the fact that you were quite nervous about this confrontation, ichiro was shocked to say the least

all the love he held for you, the emotions that he thought he had buried and gotten rid of, came back in a split second

he felt an urge to run up to and embrace you, thankful that you were safe and seemingly better. the blank and emotionless stare that was pretty unnerving had left your eyes, all the emotion and humanity returning to them

yet, at the same time, ichiro was hesitant to approach you

the last time he did so, he had gotten hurt, and quite frankly, ichiro wasn’t sure if he would be able to deal with that all over again

plus, you had betrayed him, and that was something he couldn’t find it in himself to forgive. once trust was broken, it was difficult to rebuild

however, the moment you apologized and explained everything, from the hypnosis to the hostility, ichiro threw that thinking all away and immediately forgave you

honestly, he couldn’t help but feel guilty for thinking that you, of all people, would leave him. the two of you deeply loved and cared for one another, of course it wouldn’t be so easy for you to simply up and leave or even like you to act so cold

ichiro is so overwhelmed about, well, everything. not only were his emotions getting the best of him-from his feelings of guilt and anger at what had happened to you to those of relief and love for seeing you again-but the sudden info dump was simply too much

and with everything piling up and with finally getting to embrace you once more, the two of you, needless to say, began to tear up a bit

for the next few months or so, he may be a bit overprotective though he wouldn’t necessarily realize it unless you point it out. ichiro simply didn’t want such an incident to happen again

after all that happened, ichiro was relieved that you were finally by his side again

even after you had left, he never gave up on looking for you and trying to bring you back, no matter how difficult or impossible it seemed to be at times

he refused to believe that you had left him. surely there must’ve been some sort of outside influence, especially since he didn’t like the dead look that he saw

everything was pointing to the fact that you were being controlled, but he really had no way of knowing that concretely

samatoki knew that it was going to be difficult to find you now that you worked for chuohku, but well, life wasn’t fair so it was to be expected

he certainly didn’t think it’d be that easy, however, not expecting it when you showed up to his hideout out of the blue one day, looking the same as before save for the blank gaze

when samatoki saw you standing in the doorway to his room, too nervous to step in or say a word considering what had just happened, he didn’t hesitate to rush to you and immediately embrace you, taking in your scent and warmth

even if this was nothing more than a dream, samatoki didn’t care in the slightest. for now, you were here, right in front of him, and he’d relish in your touch before you were gone again

honestly, he doesn’t even really care for your explanation right in that instant, simply more than content with the fact that you were finally in his arms again

and for a few moments or so, he didn’t let you talk. all that mattered was that you were back, and if this did turn out to be a dream, then samatoki wanted to take in your scent and warmth before you were gone

of course, you did eventually explain everything to him, from how you got hypnotized to how you were ordered to leave him, though towards the end you couldn’t help but omit a few tiny details given how he looked like he was about to burst with anger

seeing you standing in front of him, safe and very much alive, samatoki felt relieved and happy, overwhelmingly so. there was no longer that tense atmosphere around you that he had felt beforehand, and this time, he could tell that it was you that was standing in front of him now

but he also felt rage, at both himself and chuohku

at chuohku for, well, hypnotizing you as well as separating you both, but also at himself for being so weak and incompetent

seriously, how could samatoki live with himself knowing that he hadn’t been able to save both you and nemu. you had to break out of the hypnosis by yourself and find him again, not the other way around

regardless, for now, samatoki wouldn’t let you go

definitely got quite overprotective for a while after, practically never leaving your side, even if you were simply going out for a few small chores

he had already lost you once, and he certainly wasn’t about to go through it again

you knew that he had good intentions, and you were thankful that he did care, but it did get a bit much at times

needless to say, however, you were happy to have reunited with him, and so was he

Sasara

the entire thing had hit him pretty hard to say the least

i can see sasara begin to ruminate and perhaps even blame himself on not noticing how you were beginning to feel about the your guys’ relationship

it seemed like no matter what he did, sasara was simply not good at people and anything pertaining to relationships; and that realization hurt him to say the least. not only had he lost the person that he loved with all his heart, but now he was all alone

even though he moved on, sasara still longed for your presence. he often found himself wishing that you did, in fact, come back one day, and you guys would resume your relationship as if nothing ever happened

he had no idea that he was not only a comedian, but also some sort of genie (he kids, but it’s strange that he got his wish not even a few days after the fact)

a knock on the door during the late afternoon could’ve meant anything, but he certainly wasn’t expecting to see you, though it was a pleasant surprise nonetheless

he’s quick to open the door and accept you in, despite the fact that you had left without a trace a few months prior. sasara was sure that you had your reasons, even if they didn’t make much sense to him right then and there

he still held a lot of love for you, so as long as you did apologize and explain why you did it, then sasara thought that he’d be able to forgive you

at first, sasara stays quiet, not really knowing what to say in such a strange turn of events. sure he’s thought of this scenario hundreds, if not thousands, of times before, but now that it was reality, he pretty much froze up

breaking the awkward tension between you two, you apologized for everything that happened, explaining how you were hypnotized by chuohku one day and had no choice but to comply

and with that explanation, sasara began to connect the dots as to why you had acted so strangely back then and why you seemed much more distant and emotionless. you hadn’t been in control of your actions, and as such, it wasn’t actually you that had left him

honestly, he does feel a bit guilty for not realizing it sooner and for thinking that you actually did feel that way, but sasara brushes that feeling off for now and simply embraces you

right now, all that mattered was the fact that you had returned safe and sound, no longer hypnotized and under the control of someone else

of course, he couldn’t help but get angry at chuohku for having done such a thing, but sasara also knew that there wasn’t much he could do about that aspect of it all. they were simply much stronger and larger than sasara, so it’d be a waste of energy to go after them

instead, it’d be much better if he focused on you and only you right now, wanting to try his best to comfort and calm you down. you were no doubt a bit shaken up by what had occurred, and he was the only one that could make you feel better right in this moment

for the next few weeks or so, you’ll find sasara to be a bit more clingy than usual, always texting you and asking if you were alright or needed anything

the entire incident made him realize that he really wasn’t that perceptive of others and how they felt, so sasara wanted you to feel nothing but the utmost comfort and joy. he wanted to show you simply how much he loved and valued you

his efforts were really sweet to say the least, and you were happy to finally be back

Jiro gives hugs the most when he’s trying to reassure someone. He’s not the best at giving advice and stuff like that, so he’ll do his best to tell you that he’s got your back by holding you close. He’ll let you cry on his shoulder if you need to, and he refuses to let go until you’re feeling alright.

Saburo will be too shy to initiate contact most of the time but he doesn’t mind it with his friends. When he’s looking for comfort he’ll very gently tug on your sleeve with an anxious look, and he’ll settle down once you’ve brought him into your arms. He forgets all too easily that he loves being held by someone he trusts.

Samatoki will give little bits of physical affection that seem mundane at first, but he gets close enough that you can tell it’s his way of showing that he cares. The most common will be his hand on your arm or shoulder as he asks how your day’s been, maybe working up to a hug. From that, and the sweet smile on his face as he does it, it becomes clear that he’s more than genuine.

Jyuto doesn’t think there’s a huge barrier between what levels of affection you should show whether it’s a platonic or romantic relationship, only because he thinks both are equally important. And he’ll respect your boundaries because he has his own. When you’re excited about something he’ll ruffle your hair to show support, and in return he loves gentle strokes to his hair (the bunny loves being pet, what can I say?).

Riou loves having one arm over your shoulder as you’re lying down, admiring the sky. Whether you’re looking at clouds floating by or the twinkling stars, Riou could lose hours staring at them with you by his side. His hugs are so warm that it’s easy to get sleepy in his arms. Seeing you feel safe around him is all that Riou could ask for.

Ramuda is the clingiest hugger ever, in the best way possible. It’s kind of scary how easy it is for him to tell when something’s amiss, and he’ll be attached to you until whatever was bothering you has gone away. It feels more intimate for him to hold someone’s hand than much else, so he’ll save it for super special occasions.

Gentaro is fonder of casual affection than anything else. Whenever the two of you are hanging out he won’t mind if you lean on his shoulder as he reads, and vice versa. It’s like a little reminder that you’ve got his back when he needs it. Likes the occasional pat on the shoulder (and on the head too but he’d never say it).

Dice needs physical affection a lot more than he lets on, but it’s not as if he tries to hide it. When you’re hanging around with him and he’s in the mood for a cuddle he’ll whine and sigh dramatically until you get the hint. It turns into a habit, Dice asking for a hug without him actually saying it. And it’s only because he’s too embarrassed to admit it. One thing he can rely on is that your arms will always be open to welcome him, whatever state he’s in.

Jakurai has the softest hugs in the world. It starts with him placing his hand on your back to ask for permission, and when he gets it he puts his other hand on the back of your head, bringing you to his body with as much caution as if you were made of glass. But there is a strange strength to his embrace. It feels like if anyone tried to pry his arms open they wouldn’t budge at all.

Hifumi will, of course, act differently depending on which side of him you’re interacting with. But if you’re close with him he’ll be happy to cuddle you no matter which Hifumi it is, because after all, they are the same person. If you’re alright with it, he likes flirting with you platonically (you get me?) to make you smile. But he can’t take it. Being told compliments as you hug him make him weak.

Doppo loves bedtime snuggles. Just being able to forget about the world outside of the bed is one of his favourite feelings, especially with the warmth of a loved one. Even just knowing someone cares about his well-being enough to want to be there with him as he falls asleep is enough to warm his heart. Waking up next to them and being free to drift in and out of sleep in the warmth is something he’ll secretly cherish forever.

Kuko (canonically I think) isn’t fond of being around too many people, so his affections come out when you’re hanging out alone, and even then it’ll take a while for his sappy side to come out. Standing shoulder to shoulder enough affection for him at the start, but over time he finds himself realising how much he just wants to snooze and cuddle next to you.

Jyushi needs hugs so much. When he’s nervous, before a live show, after practice, you name it and Jyushi wants a hug. Most hugs will be you hugging him as he’s hugging Amanda. Letting you get so close to Amanda is a whole honour in itself! If he’s not up for a hug and needs his space, before you can get to him he’ll bonk you on the nose with Amanda’s squishy snout.

Hitoya will only let you be affectionate in private. Out in the world he’s more stoic than soft, but in the comfort of his or your home he’s game for anything. He loves kicking back with you, making some food and drinks and chatting about whatever. That alone is intimate for him, but your embrace would make him even happier with your relationship.

Sasara will opt for fleeting touches, like a quick hand squeeze or a hug that’s over before you know it. He’ll make you just want to wrap him up in your arms and not let him skip away with that annoyingly cute grin of his. If you do he’ll say that it’s too much for him (jokingly of course), but the reality is that he gets embarrassed. If you tease him about it then there’s no telling what might happen.

Rosho makes sure the affection is equal between you. You hug him, he hugs back, you compliment him, and he compliments you back. Even if he blushes the whole time. His favourite way of showing affection is definitely through words. Hearing that his jokes amuse you make him blush up to his ears, and he’d have no idea how much he loves being complimented on his appearance.

Rei isn’t a hugely sentimental guy, so it’d take some convincing that you’re trying to be affectionate towards him. There’d be a lot of trial and error, finding out what works for the two of you. Saying “You did good today.” or “It’s nice to see you here!” will be the tipping point. Actually getting to admit that he likes your company is the hard part.

Otome is cautious of opening up to someone, but with enough mutual love and trust it’ll come through. There’s a mine of affection sitting inside her, with glimpses coming through every now and then. Stroking her hand while she’s talking about something she’s invested in shows her you care, while also letting her have her space.

Ichijuku takes a while to warm up to a lot of physical affection, but she wants to! She appreciates how much you’d pay attention to when she gets a little antsy and needs some alone time. The pay-off would be worth it though as she’d start to surprise you with greeting hugs, and maybe even a light-hearted kiss on the cheek to show how thankful she is to have you in her life.

Nemu loves little hugs and squeezes throughout the day, making sure to get one in before and after work. Knowing she has someone warm to hug when she gets home makes all the hard work worth it. Some people that were translating the new drama tracks had a bit that like made me full stop. And it was Jiro talking about how he couldn’t just take a soda because Ichiro said to always pay for things. And that’s so sad. Like, he cannot believe anyone to just give to him out of the kindness of their hearts. No, not that he doesn’t believe people are kind but he cannot stand the thought of being in someone’s debt, even if they do not feel that way about it. 

Part of me believes that’s Rei’s doing as if you notice, everyone owes him favors. Never the other way around. It makes sense for a con man. And while Ichiro isn’t like that, it is his old man and sometimes they’ll give advice like that. And sometimes you take it up even if it’s not always true or if you don’t fully care for this person later on. And part of me believes that is Rei’s doing in that Ichiro has too much pride in not wanting to be like his father that he refused anything from the old man. I believe that Rei might’ve tried to give the boys money through Ichiro and Ichiro refused it. Possibly because he didn’t want to give Rei any leg up of feeling that he ‘owed’ him for any part of raising Jiro and Saburo. 

I have two different but not necessarily conflicting thoughts about Ichiro’s childhood and adolescence and the whole loneliness thing. Considering that the Yamada brothers lived in an orphanage in the TDD manga, Rei chose to not stay in the boys’ lives...for some reason (I foolishly keep hoping there’s a good reason). And neither of his brothers would remember it but Ichiro would. He would remember being left by his own father. And I assume--hope--that Ichiro had some pleasant memories of who his parents were. Yet at the same time, it hurts because he’s lost one parent and the other parent fucking dumped him. The only consolation is that Ichiro might know why Rei left but that still doesn’t take away that this is a kid that had his parents leave his life when he knew what it was like to have them. A loved and lost deal.

He has no foundation for himself yet he found himself having to be a foundation for someone else. Possibly because that’s all he had left. And he went about it as best as he could. Did he make some foolish decisions? Absolutely. But who doesn’t make foolish decisions? It’s just usually--ideally--you have someone there to bail you out or cushion the fall when you’re young because you’re young and don’t know better. And I kind of feel that’s why he had gotten so close to Samatoki in TDD days. 

Yeah they have a lot similarities but Samatoki also had a couple more years and a bit more of steady hand in caring for him because of him being yakuza. I have little doubt Ichiro at some point saw Samatoki as what it’s like to be a man. And this was a man that not only helped bail him out of his own mistake but also sought for him to be better. Like yeah, Samatoki constantly called him a brat but he also was the first to call for Ichiro when they were up to their TDD shenanigans. And Ichiro found Samatoki as someone to turn to when he felt he didn’t know what to do. When he was hurt from Kuko leaving, guess where he went?

So, unsurprisingly, it absolutely devastated Ichiro for this person he looked up to and even dared to rely on to endanger those he loved. Like this is someone Ichiro felt he didn’t have to be this strong person for and Samatoki went and almost got his brothers taken from him. Even if he could rationalize it after the fact, it does not cushion the blow that gave to Ichiro. Which is why their beef continued on Ichiro’s side despite him knowing and understanding that Samatoki had stakes in their fight too! 

He trusted him! And even though he let himself lean on Samatoki and let himself be himself around him...it still came out like this. At that point, who could he trust? He couldn’t trust those that gave him life. He couldn’t trust a fellow delinquent and friend. He couldn’t trust the person that he admired. And while he didn’t grow cold, Ichiro became wary and I don’t really blame him. In a way, I feel it just made him want to become the man that he longed to be there for him. Which makes him a fairly kind person, sure, but also one that cannot turn to others. 

Especially he cannot turn to his brothers nor let him know of his own problems. Because, to him, they just need someone to be a foundation for their growth. Growth unimpeded by the same things that stopped him. And while sure, it’s very obvious that Jiro and Saburo hung onto Ichiro...he very much was doing the same with them. Like those two are his world.

And while I like (and consider writing) angst about the boys not taking the revelations of before and during the 2nd DRB well, I’m glad it shook out fairly alright. Because I’m not sure if Ichiro could take it going very wrong. Because it’s just another loss on his heart that he didn’t expect and didn’t want. He’s been hurt by family before so in theory it should hurt less. But to me it would destroy him because his brothers are his world. Like sure, we joke about his weebness but it, his business, his rapping and his brothers are all Ichiro really got going on for him. 

He gave up having an adolescence to be a provider for them. He chose to bear the secrets of their family and their weights because he didn’t want to unfairly burden his brothers. He took their disdain and put up with an asshat because he didn’t want to make them sad. I have to find where it was mentioned but I believe Ichiro has never even thought much of his future??? Like he’s focused on keeping afloat he hasn’t thought about what’s next for just him. What’s left for him when they don’t need him anymore? 

I highly doubt that either would just drop Ichiro. Any shit that goes down, they’re still siblings and still care. Don’t get me wrong. But they will eventually grow up. Like Jiro’s shown to do immensely right now. And Ichiro IS proud. But still...

Day 19 Bonus: Buster Bros!!! vs Dotsutaire Honpo

I’m gonna start with the music this time because just writing like one of the story/character bit...was taking a while. So in terms of music...I have to give it over to the Buster Bros. With their individual albums, it just got so much better for the Buster Bros as they’re becoming more distinct with their personality in their sound. Like Break the Wall is one of my top solos and y’all just unfortunate that Saburo used like one of the classical pieces I thought fucking slapped even before he messed with it. And I’m so happy for them. 

DH has a bit of a disadvantage of being a new group and thus having less to compare. But so far....eh. I think DH is very hit or miss for me. Like Matenrou, they have such differing talents and subject matters that it either turns into a strange symphony or some mishmash that just makes it eh. Which is generally my feeling with their group songs as I really love Ah, Osaka Dreaming Night but I am not impressed with Wara Osaka. And I am okay with their solo songs but to be fair to them, a lot of the songs I prefer for the already established group was their second solo, not the first, which is their introductory ones. 

As for Joy for Struggle, yeah, Buster Bros took that for me. DH I get is supposed to be more carefree than a lot of the other teams that are a bit more serious but I think that attitude really bit them in the ass for this battle. And BB did not have time to be playing around. I thought Saburo had more confidence this time and let that truly nasty attitude leave some spikes behind. Saburo really was like ‘How many times we gotta teach you this lesson, old man?!’ Jiro actually had some good retorts! I’m so sorry, I love him I swear but he had so much to grow in terms of coming with bite and it’s starting to show! The chihuahua vs tiger comparison! And while I do appreciate that Rosho and Sasara stay true in their manzai act...it really just didn’t land for me in the battle and Jiro and Saburo were quick to gnaw at it. 

And then...there’s the verse against Ichiro. I won’t say they stick with me as well as War War War but quite frankly Ichiro vs Sasara and later Rei are more of a battle of ideals. And to me, Ichiro poured more into his than those two. Because Rei’s were just belittling the boys because they’re younger and like they went down some wrong path. Both Saburo and Ichiro weren’t having any of that. Like who the fuck are you to step in and tell us off? At least MTC were more of like ‘come back when you’re more polished.’ And with Sasara, I think Ichiro delivered the line that is my entire thing with this battle: ‘Floaty words like that won’t sting us at all.’ I feel like DH lacked enough bite against BB and it shows. The only real bite back is from Rei and even he doesn’t seem to have that much that actually phased BB in my opinion. 

In terms of story/character wise...it’s really hard to make a decision. Because for all the teams, it’s really a matter of the dynamics against the others. And DH have it so stacked for them just because of Rei. Sure, I may not like him but he is very interesting in terms of being a vehicle for developments to happen. He seems to know a lot of things and people so he becomes such a presence that could tempt so many things into happening. Like if it was DH vs FP, he knows the fuck about Ramuda! He fucking made him! And I have little doubt it was him on the phone with Ramuda in Catch Us If You Can drama track. And at the end of the previous DRB...at least what sticks out in my mind and I may have to double check but I think he mentioned some interest in Ramuda after telling about how the true hypnosis mic being used would’ve shot Chuuoku in the foot. Also added to that, Rei likely knows Gentaro. For what reason? We don’t quite know but it can be assumed it’s because he’s doing something for Gentaro. Either looking into Ramuda since the ‘legal’ way wasn’t reaping anything or if Gentaro is hiding something, then Rei might be helping him hide it. Also also, Rei is one of the few rappers that know who Dice is! He and Otome were talking about their kids! That’s HUGE since Dice hasn’t told anyone about this aspect of his life. Rei alone would make such a juggernaut for FP.

I honestly can’t think of anything for DH vs BAT, sorry. They don’t seem to have any history besides Kuko and Sasara both being in MCD for a time...but I don’t recall that time really being elaborated on soooooo yeah.

If it were DH vs MTC, that’s more of a dynamic between Sasara and Samatoki. Which I think would be the time to figure things out between them. Because Samatoki was left with why and never got an answer. And seeing him again, Sasara can’t run away. He can try but pretty sure that Samatoki could outrun him. It also would be a time of like Sasara’s dynamic between the two men that have been his partners, Samatoki and Rosho. The people that were close to Sasara and whom he feels the most towards. I honestly can’t think of much else besides that but I’m sure KR will find a way to have the guys piss each other off. I’m just here for SamaSasa and SasaRo shenanigans. (I guess we could see if Rio does know Rei since in theory he SHOULD know who he is since it sounds like the hypmic was in development when Rio was serving and he tested some aspect of it).

I think DH vs MTR would be kinda funny. Like for some reason I think that Sasara and Rosho would get really fucking mad at how Hifumi and Doppo just naturally have that manzai energy by virtue of being best friends and roommates. I have personal experience of people being like ‘this IS a show’ of just watching and listening to me and my best friend and roommate just going back and forth. I feel like it’d just be so damn funny if it was over something not as serious I guess? But then that’d all be ruined because I feel like Rei would either expose to Hifumi and Doppo of Jakurai’s cooperation with Chuuoku, which while they don’t have any personal reason to really hate Chuuoku, wouldn’t feel comfortable with it either. Or. OR, my god, let him expose Jakurai’s assassin past, something he seems to feel nothing but shame for and also ruining his perfect image. Because Rei just seems like he’d be willing to do that. 

So yeah, a lot of drama that could happen because of frickin’ Rei and some loose ends to deal with from Sasara. By comparison, BB has some things but they wouldn’t be as dire as DH’s. Like with BB vs BAT, this could be the chance for Ichiro to get his answers from Kuko. He never got an answer either. He was left with heartbreak and never given the why. And Kuko either has rationalized or will be in for a rude awakening having to go head on with Ichiro. Because they were close. Kuko had to care about Ichiro in some capacity to willingly help some group he knew was sketch and didn’t like. Why did that change? He had to have meditated on this at some point! Meanwhile, I really hope that Jiro and Jyushi and Kuko can get along if the reconciliation with Ichiro doesn’t happen! They’d be such an eclectic group but would be so much trouble too! (And please let Jiro and Jyushi play together. Ever since someone wrote about it, it lives in my head rent free) I really am hoping for it. All the while, Hitoya is like ‘shit, now I gotta adopt MORE kids. Why are there so many of these little shits running around without supervision???’ 

I can’t think of much for BB vs FP since I just don’t see their circles running that close and it just didn’t feel like Ichiro was close to Ramuda even back with TDD. Most I can think of is Jiro, who is also pretty thoughtless, saying the wrong thing to Gentaro and it’s The Rivalry 2.0. But overall can’t think of anything too specific. 

It’d hurt me if it was BB vs MTR. Because for some reason I see that most of MTR treat the BB like their little siblings and in Jakurai’s case, it’s like going to go fight his kids (I will go down on the hill of occasional dadkurai shenanigans!). And while Saburo and Jiro have and still do make fun of Doppo, I think he also has their respect because he looks out for them in a different way but still same energy as Ichiro does. Probably because he is an older brother. I don’t really think any of the guys can say anything to bother Hifumi and it’s more of Hifumi being fucking thoughtless and saying the wrong thing. I feel like he’d piss off Saburo somehow. And with Jakurai and Ichiro...it’s a ‘nothing personal, just business’ although I think Jakurai would be proud of Ichiro either way.

And then there’s just rematch energy if it’s BB vs MTC. Honestly? The real thing I would love to see from if this happened is for Jiro and Saburo to have a reevaluation of MTC. Because the main reason they were so aggressive and hostile towards them is because of Ichiro’s grudge with Samatoki. They just took it as ‘if they’re Ichi-nii’s enemy, they’re our enemy.’ But since they’re taking this step of coming on their own, they also need to think about if they can still dislike these guys because Ichiro’s beef isn’t theirs. I mean, Jiro probably still doesn’t like Jyuto because he’s a delinquent and fuck cops y’know sorta rebelliousness. And I don’t think Saburo particularly dislikes Rio and vice versa. The thing with Ichiro and Samatoki is honestly secondary to this. And I feel would be the time for Samatoki to let go since he KNOWS now that it wasn’t Ichiro that got Nemu to leave but Ramuda but it’s a matter of if his pride would allow him. And Ichiro would have to realize that while he lost their fight...he won in the end since he’s the one that kept his brothers while Samatoki lost Nemu. He’s gotta feel for him and understand why Samatoki was/is mad at him. (Also long shot but if they could talk about how Samatoki also exacerbated his hesitance to trust others, that’d be greeeeaaattttt).

So yeah, I’ve thought about how these dynamics and things and you’d think weighing them all would make this choice easy. And it is. In a way. Because for me, I’d choose Buster Bros. I do like Sasara a lot and Rosho I think is fine but their third really sours for me. I know some can keep that bias aside and look, I did talk about what all he can do...but he alone can’t carry the sound for the team. Story, sure, but not the music. While I really would like some of the threads that Rei brings...it’s not completely impossible for him to still be around if any of the other teams do advance. I mean, they’re all the only men stuck in Chuuoku for the time of the DRB and having to pass each other while going to their own rooms or box seating. He has ways. So yeah, if I had voted on DH vs BB, this is what I would’ve gone with.

I published part of this rant in Twitter some days ago after this month’s BTB’s chapter summary was available and I’m... yeah... (spoilers ahead)

Don’t get me wrong, I like hpmi, and I have been expecting more past lore details as time goes on as many of you, but I cannot lie to myself in saying “I like what they are doing on this”, or “I’m satisfied with it”, because I’m clearly not.

I know there's an obvious "foregone conclusion" in all of this... but still I don't like how the overall plot is built towards that, which is the present.

And I’m like “there’s much more potential here and there... but this is all going very straightforward to a very expected route”.

Kinda wishing Ramuda was more rebellious, tbh. That the whole thing of TDD being was half "well, ofc that's the plan (becoming perfect soldiers for CW... maybe? to take the whole country?) I'm following" and half "but I want to burn those witches because 'reasons'" was what was going on.

That's the thing with my lack of full satisfaction on how it has been building up to its "foregone conclusion". Also, I wish there were more bonding time between the guys shown would be good to BELIEVE they miss those old days instead of "leaving it to you ;)" (and a drama track showing those “good days” is not enough as canon goes.. .especially because, if canon goes by, they were together for less than a year).

...and yes, perhaps I'm salty because my potential what ifs sound more interesting than what official canon is offering.

Because in some way, it all feels “sort of obvious or expectable to happen”. I don’t like that it has been hinted or suggested that Ichiro and Samatoki fought because brainwashing reasons to “convince” (definitely not on free will, either, I assure you) Nemu to ally/get into POW/CW. I mean, I get it - it’s called “Hypnosis Mic” for a reason, but brainwashing being the main reason these two fought... when they went through that ALREADY with Sasara and Kukou seems... you know? Repetitive. As if it was the ONLY solution for POW’s problems.... I am hopeful POW aren’t pretty repetitive in their plans, lol. 

And I get it, these two are more juvenile than Jakurai and Ramuda, where it seems even more on a personal level because I’m sensing there’ gonna be whole betrayal in trusting a person you ended up respecting as some sort of teacher and friend once Jakurai finds out that Ramuda is someone he didn’t know he was (well, technically not REALLY him, anyways, because clones).

And, tbh, I guess I still want something like that go towards the other two. Like, there could be different ideals or way of taking things, especially in how they are taking the whole country in regards on how to destroy the base of the problems a.k.a. CW. 

I have elaborated on a couple of ideas where that could be sorta neat and have potential (like, CW trapping them in a situation they couldn’t get out by usual means, so differences start to play out and they cannot think as a team) - but, lmao, these are fan theories at the end of the day.  

If Nemu turns out to be the main reason/source of their problems, and if she was the ONLY one brainwashed in the equation, I suppose I could buy that. Both of them can be pretty overprotective towards their younger siblings in pretty irrational ways if confronted by smth related to them. And I do THINK in a way... if Nemu told Samataoki that Ichiro is the one that convinced her to ally POW, WELL, I am pretty sure he would completely trust her word (with anger, but regardless) over his relationship with Ichiro, you know? 

That being said, I suppose Ichiro respects Samatoki in a way that he didn’t with other adult figures in his life (with exception of Jakurai... but let’s be honest - canon doesn’t show that much in the past~) because not only all his paternal figures suuuuucked (starting from his biological dad), but because he is an older brother himself, so he could look at him the same way he want his little brothers to look at him.

If Samatoki starts acting way off, with all his anger... I GUESS the first person he is gonna take issues with is Ichiro, for obvious reasons. Because, to him “he did an unforgivable thing that may have hurt him way deep to destroy all respect and trust he had on him” (”why did he convince Nemu to do what she did?” But Ichiro is going to deny it all (or maybe Samatoki wouldn’t let him know, I mean, it’s also possible). Or maybe he is going to bottle it up... (also highly possible) until he explodes onto him... and that could deeply hurt Ichiro in more ways than one, because... to him that figure he looked up didn’t turn up to be the person he thought him to be. Just like every other figure adult he knew before him (no offense, Jakurai).

I’m hopeful brainwashing is not included in this whole equation, but from how things are looking (I mean, Ichiro talked about it with Sasara in their short reuinon in the BB B.T 2nd B Drama track - we don’t know real details about it, because, lol, ofc we don’t, the only thing we know is from Samatoki’s -or morel ike Ramuda’s “side” in the FP’s Drama Track), I’m prepared for the expected to happen.

Shirai Yusuke is the voice actor of Shibuya’s cute idol Amemura Ramuda. How did he perform the cuteness unique to the bubbly Ramuda, or his intriguing duality? We’ll be asking him about all that!

——How do you feel about the current boom of popularity?

“Until the release, I was still unsure about how well the hip-hop genre would be received, but now that I know a lot of people are listening to it, I’m delighted. I never imagined it would have such a sudden upsurge in popularity.”  

——During the nico-nama live stream the other day, you probably directly felt the reaction of the audiences.

“The enthusiasm was just incredible. I felt like we were all enjoying something new together.”  

——How did it feel to actually rap freestyle?

“I took up the challenge just like that, but freestyling was difficult (laughs). You have to get your words in rhythm, and keep going at it while rhyming nicely; I really felt the importance of wit, vocabularies, etc. However, it was something that I don’t usually do, so it was refreshing and felt good. If there’s another chance, I want to practice a bit more and take the challenge again no matter what!”

——So in hindsight, how did you feel when you heard about the project of Hypnosis Mic?

“Since I always sing songs of rappers I like at karaoke, a rap project seemed interesting to me. Actually, I auditioned for other characters instead of Ramuda. But then after that, they sent me an offer that said, “please be Amemura Ramuda.” There I saw Ramuda for the first time and was a bit shocked, like, “this cute boy... me?” So I had to go up to my manager and confirm with them if the role of this character was really offered to me (laughs).”

——Ramuda's visual is really cute like a girl (laughs).

“They directed me to make him bubbly and sly like he knows how cute he is.. However, even though his appearance is this cute, he’s still a grown man who’s 24 years old, so it has to be within reasons, as I was told. So I did my best to show as much slyness  as I can. I I have never played any characters look as androgynous as he does, and I think this is my first time playing a main character whose voice is this high-pitched.

——So you really focused on showing the cuteness and slyness while you’re performing as him.

“That’s right. Ramuda himself is also “clever, and understands how others see him [according to the character profiles],” meaning that he makes himself look cute; his slyness probably comes from him trying to act cute. So I thought that if that’s the case, I could pull it off, too. Therefore, when I voice Ramuda, I try to make sure I show a little of that forced cuteness.”

—— In the drama tracks of Fling Posse VS Matenrou, weren’t there parts when you had to also portray his other side?

“When I first voiced Ramuda, I didn’t know about his duality, so I didn’t act with the thought in mind that he had another side. Therefore, I was also shocked by that side of Ramuda!”

——Now that you have performed as him so far, what do you think Ramuda is like?

“He’s just full of mysteries. We still don’t know about his past, and just like how Gentaro was saying in the drama track, Ramuda is "too spotless" and it feels almost like it's all made up. In Fling Posse VS Matenrou, I played “Dark Ramuda.” ...that’s how I called his other side (laughs). Since I don’t know whether that was his true self or his acting, I am looking forward to how it will turn out. What’s more, since he also has connections with Kadenokouji Ichijiku-san (who is a high-ranking official of Chuo-ku), I think he’s going to be the key character of the plot. I am also looking forward to the story’s development.”

——It was really shocking that he was in communication with Ichijiku-san; as his voice actor, how did you feel about this?

“I had so much fun. Finally, I could talk in a comfortable tone (laughs)! Though I had also wondered if I should keep a little bit of his usual cute vibes, I intentionally changed [my voice] to the extent that it sounded like a different person. When people told me how shocked they were to find out about that Ramuda, it made me grin thinking, “I know right” (laughs).

——So what kind of team do you think Fling posse of Shibuya Division is?

“Fling posse started off with Ramuda forcing Gentaro and Dice to join, but taking that into consideration, they’re getting along pretty well. They have bright, pop-like vibes to them. However in the drama tracks of Fling Posse VS Matenrou, Gentaro was also suspicious of Ramuda, so they were both probing into each other and things were turning a bit sour… And then amongst them there is Dice who’s the only one not caring about anything (laughs). That’s why I think thanks to Dice, the team can maintain its balance. His lightheartedness really helps; I think he’s a great guy. Gentaro is a serial liar, Ramuda is full of mysteries, and maybe that’s how Dice’s straightforwardness stands out so much. Even though Dice loves gambling to death, he’s in general a sensible person. For example, he stood up for Gentaro when Hifumi dissed his clothes. When you see how much he treasures his friends, you can really tell that they’re ‘posse’. I am glad to see that their relationships have improved a lot compared to when they first started.”

——What do you think about the relationship between Ramuda and Dice?

“It feels a bit superficial. But since Dice trusts Ramuda, the exchange between the two is generally pleasant.”

——What about Gentaro then?

“Even though he likes saying “it’s a lie,” I think there has to be some truth in there. Anything could be a lie or a truth; it’s fun to ponder on it. Actually, I wonder if Ramuda already saw through what Gentaro was thinking; as I mentioned just now, in this CD’s drama track both Ramuda and Gentaro were figuring each other out. But Ramuda didn’t really let him know much more than what he revealed. However, there are also quite a few mysteries regarding Gentaro. For instance, he was angered by Hifumi’s comment on his vintage outfit, he seems to have all sorts of secrets. Not just Ramuda and Gentaro, everyone seems to have their own past. I really want to know about them soon.”

——What do you think is the strength of all three of them as Shibuya Division?

“Although they seem to have nothing in common, surprisingly they get along. I think their charm lies in their youthful, pop vibes, as well as their positivity.”

——As your opponents in Battle Battle Battle, what kind of team do you think Shinjuku Division is?

“Contrary to Shibuya’s youthfulness, Shinjuku are adults, and they are a team of mature appeal. However, they also surprisingly get along, which is nice. Jakurai-san seems like a loner at first,  and yet he goes fishing with Hifumi. Doppo and Hifumi were friends since they were very little, but I didn’t expect that they’re living together. They’re so close with each other.”

ーー In Jakurai and Ramuda's duet, it has awfully thrilling feelings when you listened to it, is there anything you were conscious of when you perform?

“I try to be offensive and snappy towards Jakurai at full power. Therefore, I exaggerate my expressions, and put extra effort in delivering the taunts. Honestly, I had fun doing that (laughs). They were in a team together in the past, but curiously he seems fine with Ichiro and Samatoki; it was only with Jakurai that he has this antagonism. Ikebukuro and Yokohama, or Ichiro and Samatoki are also hostile towards each other; I really want to know what happened between them.”

——We were only given some intriguing keywords. Like how Samatoki calls Ichiro a “hypocrite”, and that Jakurai mentioned that Rumuda had “done something inhuman”.

“Oh well, what inhuman things have you done, Ramuda…(laughs)”

——For the next part, I would like to know more about the songs. To start with, please tell us was there anything you were particular about or paid attention to while you were recording your solo song Drops?

“Since it’s a solo song, it is the most Ramuda-style song ever. When I recorded the very first drama track, I did the highest voice I could to show Ramuda’s cuteness, so at the song recording I was worried like, “do I have to rap in that tone all the way…!?” (laughs) However, once I found out that the song only had rapping at important parts [and the rest was singing], I remember feeling a bit more relieved (laughs). It’s a stylish and cool song, I like it.”

——While rapping with a cute impression is good, I think the faint, sexy undertone of a 24-year-old man in there was brilliant.

“I'm glad you say so! At the beginning of Ramuda's rap, the feeling of him acting all cute and charged up really was intense, and the pyon pyon part really hit the limit. I sang it like I'd exhausted all my brain cells (laughs). I tried to sing it at karaoke once, but my heart broke in the middle of it (laughs). I had wondered if I would be able to sing this live. Ah, but when this interview gets published, the live will have already taken place! I think it'd be nice if I can sing it well (laughs). However, my feelings of wanting to sing it in front of everyone are strong, so I think it'd be nice if I could sing it happily. Also, Gentaro’s VA, Saito Soma told me that he thinks the lyrics at the chorus -  "if you want to pick it up, do it" are superb! I was like, "ehh, is that so~" (laughs). Other people also told me the same thing, so I thought, "I guess it is~!”

——How about your division song, Shibuya Marble Texture - PCCS- then?

“This song is stylish, isn’t it! When I listened to it for the first time, I was surprised that this type of style can exist in the project, too. So far, all the songs have had either a fast tempo or they have loud and offensive moods to them. A rap with a relaxing tune was really refreshing. Although, Ramuda's voice was high as always (laughs). I think the song suits the evenings, so I listened to it on the way home from work. Because this song is the most recently recorded, I noticed some improvements in my skill after singing a lot of songs before it. At first I was really struggling, but it became more and more enjoyable as I went. Comparing it to the first time and the stage live... It's a bit embarrassing to say (laughs). Anyway, in contrast to the peaceful feeling of this song, the plot twist in the drama track is so...! There is this lyrics verse, "Shouldn't the world be more interesting?" rapped by Ramuda which makes you wonder which the true one is; the Ramuda of those lyrics or the one from the drama part. I think everyone ponders about that.

Since you can feel the bonds of those three in the lyrics "Side by side we watch the sunset", it would be nice if their bond pictured here [in the lyrics] is not a lie. It leaves a lot to the imagination.”

——On Ramuda and Gentaro's part, Dice who shouted their names was impressive, but on the contrary, when Dice got his, Ramuda was all-out with his, "Di~ce!", it was really cute.

“I put my everything in that ‘Dice’ (laughs). That part was originally not included in the song demo, but since Dice's VA, Nozuyama, shouted Ramuda and Gentaro's names, Ramuda decided to do it too when recording, because it’s not in character for Gentaro to do it. Speaking of which, Doppo's VA, Itou Kento, said he always listened to this song during the morning commute and that made me happy. It does get you in the mood if you listen to it when you are traveling!”

——Well then, how about Shibuya and Shinjuku's battle song, BATTLE BATTLE BATTLE?

“I'd say it was a real battle, like up until now, they never attacked each other, I think. In the song, there was a line, “Quit draggin’ someone’s past up to the surface over and over”. In that you could see a glimpse of the “Dark Ramuda”. Since the song was distributed before the CD release, if you listened to the song before the drama track, I think you would have been surprised like, "who was that just now?!" (laughs)

Still, I recorded that part separately, so I wondered how everyone would react when they have heard it. That too made me grin a bit while recording (laughs). Then during the verse which said, “without a promise, I won’t forgive that scenario”, he was already back to the usual Ramuda. But there was still a bit of the manly charm and his dark side left in there while I sang it; so when you listen to it, by all means please pay attention to that part.”

ーーHow was it when you heard the finished song together with rest of two members?

“I like how this song gave off the feeling of passing on a baton to each other while battling, but Gentaro's part was too tricky! I mean, it's difficult even if you were told that you can sing it, it’s just impossible (laughs). I really like that, while dodging Hifumi's diss, he provoked the other side with his last line, "A howling imbecile wouldn’t understand that, though, would he?"; I have been looping it in my head all this time. Also, with Dice going against Doppo, the salaryman, I like the feeling of how he struck a great blow with his last one phrase "I ain’t some collared pet.”

——Ramuda's taunting phrase "I’m disa~ppointed" was also good.

“If you were told something like that, you'd certainly get irritated (laughs). I can see Jakurai’s annoyed expression in my head (laughs).”

——Then, please tell us if you have a favorite character and a character you are interested in.

“It's (Iruma) Juto from Yokohama. Even if he is a policeman, he has this shady feeling, and I think how his manner in speaking holds hidden meanings is also nice. In the drama track, it is said that he even questioned Doppo in the past, but I feel like he changed a lot from his old days. Hifumi's duality is also interesting and how even if he is afraid of women, he works as host.”

——Do you have any favorite song aside from Ramuda's?

“Of course it's Ore Ga Ichiro from Kimura Subaru who plays as Ichiro. How he wrote the lyrics by himself is amazing, and the tune is just right. I thought that this guy is totally a rapper and that it was shown clearly.”

——It will be fun if a The Dirty Dawg song were to be made someday, with Ichiro and the legendary team The Dirty Dawg together.”

“Certainly, that possibility is also there! If the songs increase, there could be various combinations even outside the divisions, and perhaps there would be a rap for Dark Ramuda, too.”

——Hypnosis Mic held a Champagne Tower with everyone (the collab drink with karaoke shop), everyone in the cast gave off the impression that they were enjoying their work.

“That champagne tower party was totally private, and yet everyone gathered to that extent, I think that was amazing. Contents of Hypnosis Mic had been exciting so far and I think that it's really pleasing for a lot of people to accept it because we are having a lot of fun too. After all we got to listen to Hayami Show-san’s rap, right?”

——Right. How did listening to Hayami's rap feel like?

“Really cool! Because Hayami is Jakurai, I thought that as Ramuda I should do my best not to lose.”

——Thank you. Lastly, please give a message to your fans.

“By the time this interview gets published, I think we will have already finished the 2nd Live successfully and that the 3rd Live will be decided in November, too. It's unusual to conduct a live in such a short time span, but I think next time we can have fun with more people, so I'd be happy if you could come and play. I don't know how the story will progress according to the battle results, but I am also looking forward to see how Ramuda will get involved. I also want to work hard to improve my rapping skills, so I'd be happy if you can keep supporting Hypnosis Mic in the future.”

The Dirty Dawg: Build-A-Bear

Regrets ever agreeing to going on this date, but then when he sees your face light up at the aspect of going to a Build-a-Bear workshop, he suddenly has no regrets, though he has to look like he doesn’t want to be there because he’s a toughie like that

Picking the stuffed animal: believe it or not, he get’s kind of involved. The kind of really annoying involved

“Idiot. Don’t get that one, the seam looks loose.”

“Those eyes are too creepy.”

“Why would you choose a bunny at a build-a-bear workshop.”

“Don’t get white, it’s going to get dirty.”

You don’t get annoyed though, even if some people are wondering why a Yakuza boss is in such a place, you find it cute that he’s trying to act all tough when in reality he’s kind of invested

Ultimately, you end up choosing the classic teddy bear, just because Samatoki said that it’s cute and that its the entire point of going to build a bear is to make a bear

For choosing clothes: this part takes even longer than the bear choosing part because Samatoki looks like he’s actually shopping and doesn’t let you get the pink sparkly ones because… I mean… he won’t be caught dead buying that for you

You decide though that he gets no say in it and you choose a white polo and black pants and rubber shoes

And a leather jacket

He realises it’s his clothes after like, fifteen minutes

You say that it’s because you want to be with Samatoki AKA Mr Ha Ko on The Microphone even if he’s not there with you

Samatoki really tries hard not to blush and is just calling you dumb repeatedly

For Accessories

You get a microphone. Enough said. You almost get the sunglasses but Mr Ha Ko said no even if he looked like he was thinking about it. Maybe next time.

You pick lavender, well there’s no exact reason, but it might be Jakurai’s shampoo, though you never actually know because with hair as great as his, he probably uses a shit ton of great shampoo

For the Heart Ceremony

Now, Jakurai being 30 something and you being of the same age-ish, there is no way the two of you were going to do it

However, there are some small kids there that know Jakurai (and you by default) and look really really hopeful that you’re going to do it

So your mom and dad instincts come out and you both enlist the help of your kids

The employee does the usual heart ceremony, and you and Jakurai really enthusiastically do it with the kids because you’re motivated to make them laugh as the ceremony gets sillier and sillier

You see the genuine joy in Jakurai’s face when he’s helping people and you get a little emotional because wow he’s such a great guy

You’re both careful with your toys and you know, you’re still gushing over Jakurai being a wonderful doctor and he’s good with kids (I mean he has two big kids, so how different would actual kids be)

Could also work as Ichiro x Reader if you like. It's okay if you don't care about my fic! I just wanted to finally write down some of my fantasies before I feel like not to. This part mostly serves as a little backstory and a character introduction. And of course I had to include Kuko who wasn't in the original draft. But I love him to the Sun and back now so, he's here. Sorry if it's sloppy, I'm still sick plus I can't proof read even if my life depended on it. *shrug* I have a handful of other x OC stories I'd like to write. My top one definitely being Jiro x my OC as I'm actually quite proud of their little love story. Top two would have to go to Samatoki as I made that story kinda spicy. "Ah, I gotta go. TDD's got a meeting today." Ichiro stood up from his sitting spot with a clank of a soda bottle that's been lying next to him. He fixed his appearance by brushing off the dust and dirt settled on his clothes. He also tightened the bandana wrapped around his right arm before waving goodbye to the other two currently splattered on the ground under a wall full of graffiti. The art, mostly consisted of random characters and symbols, except for the big, bold lettered name in the middle reading 'Naughty Busters'. It was meant to show other groups whose favorite spot this was. No one quite dared to steal it.

"Sure bro. Just make sure to return home before the Sun goes down." The redhead's words made Ichiro roll his eyes. The monk then laughed his signature laugh into the soda bottle that he's had in his mouth at the time. The other person sitting by the wall, a girl their age with caramel eyes and rose blonde mid length hair, only waved back at the young Yamada without saying a word. Ichiro could tell that her movement was somehow sloppier than usual, less energetic. He unfortunately didn't have time to listen to her possible worries. Although it wasn't the first time this week that he's seen her like this. Right after the dark haired teen left the hang out spot Kuko bumped the girl right into her ribs using his elbow. She winced in pain and covered the spot on her rib cage with her hands. Her now furrowed caramel eyes landed on the boy to her right who's trashed another bottle of soda.

"Not my fault you're dressed like that."

Kuko's comment was meant to point the fact that she was wearing a typical sailor uniform that didn't really cover her stomach and her lower rib cage. The girl clicked her tongue and brought her knees closer to her chest to somehow cover her lower torso, while hooking her arms under her knees.

"Still doesn't explain why you had to assault me." She could assault him back just as well if not for the fact that her mood was as sour as an umeboshi right now.

"You got somethin' on your mind, don't ya?" The girl cursed Kuko's demon ability to see right into people's souls. Not that she didn't need someone to vent off to, but the redhead was the worst idea at the moment. Due to many reasons she'd rather he not know.

"Maybe not somethin' but rather...someone~?"

"WHAT ELSE DO YOU KNOW ASSHOLE?!"

That's it, she couldn't take it any longer. One more tease from the devil and she'd make the worst decision in her life yet.

"Chill Chihaya! I haven't said shit yet! Damn."

The blonde puffed out her cheeks, trying to calm her sudden nerves while Kuko kept on slapping her back slightly. She swatted his hand away soon after and took a deep breath. Her eyes were suddenly on the monk peering into his insides and sending a shiver down his spine.

"You haven't told him, have you?" That was indeed the most important question right now. Chihaya could easily kill Kuko if it turned out that he's told Ichiro about his interesting discovery.

"I don't know, have I? I talk a lot of shit, ya know?"

"Kukoooo..."

"I didn't, okay? Why don't you trust me woman?"

"You just said that you talk a lot of shit. Monk my ass."

Even though her heart was all over the place and her nerves haven't calmed down one bit, Chihaya felt a sudden ease. She knew Kuko wouldn't give out her secret like that. He may be an ass, but he's a loyal friend. Without consulting her first and making sure that his assumptions are right, he wouldn't even dare squeak a word about her crush to Ichiro.

"We both know that even if I told him he'd be too dumb to understand. I actually once asked him what would he say if you liked him. Guess what that dumb dumb said?"

"I like her too, she's a great friend?"

Kuko's yellow eyes widened before closing due to his extensive laugh. Chihaya started poking him with her elbow just like he did before until he stopped his circus idiot moment. While he was wiping the tears that left his eyes Chihaya stood up and got ready to leave being completely exhausted from the conversation. She dusted off her skirt turning her behind away from her friend.

"Doesn't matter as I'm leaving the day after tomorrow."

Kuko swiftly moved up too and trashed the rest of the bottles. His eyebrows rose before he realized what the girl meant.

"Ah, right. You getting taken by that woman, huh?"

"Good thing I'm at least leaving the orphanage."

Even though she's said that, there was only a drop of truth to her words. As much as she hated the place since birth, she loved the kids in there. It wasn't their fault they ended up in that dump. There were two kids that she loved more than anything. Those two who she's considered her little brothers ever since they arrived. She's seen their ups and downs, their successes and failures. Even though she'd be leaving the place next year anyway, she wanted to spend more time with them. Cherish it before they grow too old to be treated like kids. Although she knew they'd never grow too old to be called her little brothers. Kuko looked at her as she softly smiled with a worry in his eyes. He knew it better than anyone that it wasn't good to keep your emotions in. He's always been expressing his own ones no matter what others thought of him. He's been using his emotions in his raps and from the start it has shown that those were a great way to express himself to people, to show all of your being to others. So seeing his friend block all of her feelings because of his other friend made his eyebrow twitch and his blood boil. What a great thing to be in the middle of it all. Not that he could do anything about it. Chihaya's feelings were her own. There was no place for him to meddle in them. No place to tell her how she should act or what she should do.

"I'm going back. I only have one day to say what I want to say and do what I want to do." The girl fixed the upper part of her uniform and brushed her hair back with her hand getting ready to leave as soon as she heard some kind of goodbye from Kuko, knowing that he has nothing else to say to her.

"Make sure the dumb dumb comes back home."

Chihaya waved the back of her hand at Kuko and made her way to that hated by her building. She didn't even look back as her head was getting filled with tons of ideas on how she could spend the next day. Most of the options included Ichiro so she quickly made up her mind. The main part of tomorrow's activities are going to be with him, no matter if her heart jumps out of her chest or not.

When she arrived back at the orphanage, it was getting dark already. As she opened the door her eyes were assaulted with the warm and bright light coming from the main area. She didn't take off her shoes and went straight for the backyard knowing who she's going to meet there. Some kids welcomed her back as if she was their own sister, hugging her before she could say that she wants to go meet someone. All of them were understanding, nodding their heads cutely and obediently. She knew why they were acting like that. The news of her leaving in less than 48 hours made its way around in this corrupt place. She also knew why some kids that would usually tackle her as soon as she got back were quiet today. They were so sad as if they were grieving, as if she's bound to die that day. After taking care of the children and promising them spending time together to play or study, Chihaya slid open the door leading to the backyard and closed it right behind her with a bang. The only person that could be outside at this hour was indeed there. She smiled to herself, actually forcing the smile for the time being not to scare the boy in front of her.

"You're gonna need even stronger glasses if you keep on playing soccer at this time."

The sound of a soccer ball died down as the boy quickly ran up to Chihaya leaving the round entertainment behind.

"I'm gonna be fine nee-san!"

The girl reached her hand up and ruffled the boy's dark hair, making his eyes close on their own. She suddenly remembered the time when she had to bend over to do that. Now the same boy was taller than her. Her fake forced smile changed into a genuine one as she saw his own lips curved upwards. Though as she remembered the real reason she came out here, her features got a little bit more serious. Her hand stopped the nice head massage and a pair of eyes opened up. The boy realized that there was a sudden change in his big sister's emotion and his heterochromic eyes focused completely on her.

"Can we talk for a bit Jiro?"

He somehow knew that it was going to be a serious conversation this time. Not the usual one they always have where he talks about unimportant things and Chihaya pesters him to study more. The mood around her was different this time. He thought that maybe it was because she had to leave. Leave him and his brothers behind. Jiro knew very well how much she treasured the three of them. The feeling being obviously mutual on the brothers' side.

Chihaya sat on a nearby swing, Jiro following her movements and sitting on the other swing sideways to somehow see her face through the darkness. Her caramel eyes shined thanks to the appearing moon as she grabbed onto the ropes to keep her hands occupied during a stressful for her talk.

"I'm going to tell you something about your brother."

She's finished the talk rather quickly surprised at herself for not taking forever with it. She took a glance at Jiro's hands, which were now holding the swing bench rather forcefully, his head hung low, his teeth biting his lip. He wasn't mad though, that much she could tell.

"Why didn't he tell us himself...?"

Chihaya opened her mouth waiting for some words to come out. But none would come out without her forcing them to. She inhaled and exhaled sharply turning her head at the second oldest Yamada.

"Some of his jobs...weren't exactly fantastic. He's said that he hates them many times. He didn't want you guys to be influenced."

"But! But...if he were to tell us to come with him in a few months...we'd just say no to him. We were both ready to completely cut him off! I was ready to label him the same as d-!!"

Before Jiro could finish his thought, Chihaya abruptly stopped him by putting her hand on his cheek and forcing his head upwards. Her thumb drew soft circles, sometimes going over the mole under his eye. The boy only gripped the swing harder and shut his eyes tightly. When she told him to breathe, he did so. Soft breaths were now the only thing heard in the dimly lit garden. The only source of light coming from the windows of the orphanage and one weak street light nearby. Chihaya couldn't possibly read Jiro's expression well. Not in that environment. Calming him down was the best idea.

"I'm not gonna tell Saa-chan as I told you. Even if he's smart enough to understand, I don't want to put extra pressure on him before I leave."

She then extracted her hand and looked at the boy next to her. His already opened eyes now holding a sad glimmer in them. But he understood why she wouldn't want to talk to Saburo about it. He knew that his younger brother probably saw Chihaya as an older sister even stronger than any other kid in the orphanage did. He knew they had a special bond as she was holding Saburo in her arms since he was only two years old. The youngest Yamada definitely thought of her strongly as a sister. He was already devastated when he heard that she's leaving. There was no need to push his twelve year old mind to its mental limit.

"Will you talk with him after my leave?"

Jiro nodded his head excessively making the older sister let out a soft chuckle. Her caramel eyes sparkling as she looked up at the stars. Her idea for tomorrow was finished at this point. She knew exactly where she wanted to go with Ichiro. The only obstacle now being the fact that she had to ask him, see if he even has time to hang out with her. Or rather, go on a date as she's made it up in her imagination. Although she knew full well that it's going to be just a hang out for the boy. As long as he comes, she'd be fine with just that.

he certainly did pick up the semblance long before, though it was a bit more of intuition than anything, and ichiro never did take that thought of his too seriously

he couldn’t help but pick up on the small details, such as how you always seemed to talk highly of the doc and certainly were the closest with him when compared with the other members

but, again, ichiro didn’t think much of it. he simply thought that you and jakurai just got along well, more so than the others. perhaps the two of you even hung out often outside of the group. honestly, he was happy to see both his girlfriend and one of his close friends get along

so when it’s first brought up that jakurai had actually taken you in, presumably, after you’ve been orphaned, he’s initially quite surprised to see that you guys were actually related (well, not by blood)

ichiro actually finds out when he brings up meeting your family since you guys were together for a while by then. you had met his brothers (who loved you a lot and saw you as an older sister might i add) once the three of them had made amends, and he was excited at the prospect of meeting yours

draws a blank when you tell him that he already had given that he didn’t know or actively talk to many people. but when he says jakurai offhandedly, not really expecting it to be the answer, ichiro practically does a double-take when you nod

“seriously?! man, i never realized”

he may have had his suspicions that both you and him were closer than ichiro realized, but a parental relationship never was something that crossed his mind. now that it was mentioned, however, he was able to draw on the parallels, ones he had missed beforehand

at the same time, ichiro is definitely interested to learn more, specifically how jakurai had found you, when he did, etc. he thought it was all so compelling and listened to the story rather intently

(and, honestly, he felt relieved to know that you were in such good hands. ichiro trusted jakurai quite a lot after all)

despite that, ichiro also knew that you were your own person and weren’t tied to jakurai in any way, shape, or form; so it never was a fact he brought up often, though he certainly did think that it was neat

at times though, he seems to forget it, and each time it’s brought up such as when you were describing what jakurai had made for dinner last night, ichiro is always taken aback each time before remembering that the two of you had this conversation before

well, he was a bit forgetful back then i like to think, though in an endearing sense

Samatoki

the thought of both you and jakurai being related or even being friends, really anything that’d require you guys being close, never did cross his mind, not in the slightest

i mean, what reason did samatoki have to believe that his girlfriend and teammate were somehow related? there never was anything that would hint at that, at least, in his eyes

samatoki , admittedly, had missed all the little details, such as your high regards of jakurai or how he was the one you talked about the most when the dirty dawg was brought up. he didn’t think much of it, perhaps finding it a bit strange at times but never anything he pointed out

if anything, samatoki just thought that you were also a fan of his or were simply acquaintances, nothing really that big. you guys just so happened to get along really

so when he first learns of it, when you so casually mention that jakurai was your adopted father during a conversation about family, honestly, samatoki sorta just blanks and goes “huh??”

it was something that seemed so out of the blue, so random even, but that’s only because he never did connect two-and-two together. never in his wildest dreams did samatoki think that perhaps his girlfriend knew and was related to someone on his team, especially not when the two of you didn’t even meet through jakurai

but then he recalls back to all the moments where it should’ve been at least a little obvious. all the times he had caught you alongside jakurai, and how jakurai, in particular, seemed to be rather fond and soft towards you

man, he really was so blind to it, samatoki couldn’t help but think

but it was also something that, after the fact, he brushed aside, not really thinking much of it. sure, it was quite neat to know that you two were related in some way, and it did peak his curiosity so he may ask for the story, if you were fine with that; but overall, it’s not something he was entirely bothered by

lowkey feel like he’d try and reassure jakurai that, even if he was a member of the yakuza, he’d take good care of you even though jakurai had no doubts at all. samatoki could be somewhat old-fashioned at times just like that

samatoki is a huge family man, as we know, so i’m sure he’d be happy to also know that you had the doc as your dad since he wanted you to have nothing but support and love coming from your home life, especially considering your past and all (assuming that he took you up when you were orphaned)

honestly, he also loves teasing you about it at times, smirking and saying stuff like how he’ll snitch on you to your dad if you ever did anything that was dangerous or so inconsequential, such as forgetting to take out the trash, or even just to fluster you

samatoki loved to see how flustered you got, thinking that you looked rather adorable, though it was all in good humor

black tea; what do they look for in a person?

Ichiro looks for someone that's kind and compassionate, a must have really. He absolutely can't stand people who look down upon others or simply ignore them in their time of need; that was something he considered to be too cruel. To Ichiro, it was important that one treated others well and with the utmost respect regardless of who they were, etc. He wanted someone sympathetic, but also someone who was quite just and also wanted to change the world for the better. In short, Ichiro looked for someone that cared for others and wanted nothing but the best for them. Also, they absolutely had to get along with his brothers and care for them to a certain extent. Jiro and Saburo meant the world to Ichiro, the two most important beings in hos life. They were his brothers, his family, and he wouldn't hesitate to put them above all else, so it was a must that his partner got along with and liked them. But other than that, as long as there was a spark, Ichiro didn't mind much about their qualities or attributes (though it surely would be nice if they shared the same interests as him).

When it came to the pursuit of a deeper, more meaningful relationship, Ichiro was a very respectful person and took it rather slow. He wanted to get to know you more and firstly befriend you before going further. Ichiro most likely goes about courting by taking you out on small 'dates,' though more often than not they're just ways the two of you can talk and be open with one another about what you both want. Ichiro is honestly pretty clear about his feelings and expectations and whatnot, able to communicate them very well, and he expects you to do the same as well. Since he's serious about his intentions, hence the courting, Ichiro believes it's best to be honest with one another rather than waste time on a relationship you guys might not be too sure on. So everything's clear from that start, and from then on, he eases into the relationship, not wanting to go too fast which may startle you, but also a bit too impatient on going too slow. As such, it starts off with small gestures, such as bringing you flowers or simply hanging out as 'friends,' nothing inherently romantic. It then moves on to actual dates and progresses into more serious territory, and honestly, it does feel like a natural progression in a way.

russian caravan tea; how experienced are they with relationships?

Considering his younger years (not that he isn't still young) which consisted of having to work frequently in order to provide for and take care of his brothers, it's safe to say that Ichiro has little to no experience with romantic relationships. There may have been a few people he may have been interested in back in school, but he never did pursue them given his circumstances. As such, Ichiro didn't know much about relationships and their stages and etiquette. It was all a mystery to him. So when it came to his first romantic relationship, Ichiro was, of course, a tad nervous, unsure of how to act or how fast or slow he should go with taking into account the 'stages' of one. But honestly, Ichiro simply goes with his gut and treats it like any other relationship of his, though with a bit more added depth and affection. He's always asking if it was alright to kiss you or hold your hand, making sure that everything he does with you is fine, and he has pretty clear communication. Ichiro would always be asking for feedback as well, saying that you should tell him if there was anything you wanted him to say or do. He may be nervous at times and perhps somewhat uptight, but that's only because it was an entirely new experience for him! Overall, however, Ichiro was pretty much a natural and took it step-by-step.

It comes as no surprise that the short tempered Samatoki is quite easy to get jealous, perhaps even at the tiniest things. It's not that he didn't trust you - he most certainly did - but rather he didn't trust those around you. Maybe it's only because he worked in a dangerous field, one where you never could take anyone's words or trust them to the full extent, so Samatoki had a tendency of being wary of anyone that even dared to sneak a glance in your direction.

Jealously would be written all over his face honestly, though it'd be shown as more like anger than anything; therefore, you're always able to tell when Samatoki got jealous, especially since he pretty much tells you do. When he did feel that pit in his stomach, whether it was because he didn't like the way that one person was staring at you or because you were giving something too much attention when you were with him, Samatoki always did act on it. By that, I mean that he goes up to you and either wraps an arm around your waist or shoulders, or he roughly yet passionately kisses you. Either way, Samatoki is (loudly) proclaiming that he's yours and your his, and honestly, he wouldn't hesitate to fight anyone that was still pushing it even after the fact. He may seem a bit aggressive, but Samatoki certainly is slightly pouty afterwards even if he rejected that notion. You do more than make it up to him, however.

Courtship for Samatoki was a bit strange in that, rather than getting to know each other slowly, once he's certain that he genuinely is interested in you and wants to pursue a deep relationship, then he sorta just jumps right into it. After all, Samatoki can be quite stubborn, meaning that when he's serious about something, he stays serious, and he does make sure to reaffirm that throughout the entire courtship process. He's really not the type to take things extremely slow or do things the formal way, but that in and of itself had a certain charm to it. Samatoki loves to spend a lot of alone time with you, and that's mainly how the two of you grow close. He is still very intimate and, at times, touchy in a sense, but only if you were fine with that of course. Samatoki simply loves physical affection, or so I like to assume, meaning that throughout the process, he's always close by your side. Home-cooked dinner dates were also a thing from time-to-time because, as I've said, Samatoki loves it whenever it was just him and you. Besides, he's a rather decent or above average cook, or so he likes to say about himself, so Samatoki would cook you a meal perhaps. He's not that much of a romantic, so he doesn't do a lot of gestures such as bringing flowers or a candle-lit dinner. But even then, Samatoki has his own way of showing affection and getting closer to you.

russian caravan tea; how experienced are they with relationships?

Samatoki is actually pretty experienced when it came to romantic relationships, at least to an extent. He's been in a few here and there, most of them back during either his school days or in the tdd era, when he was a bit younger. He doesn't pursue a relationship much these days, but only because he currently has a lot on his plate, with his occupation, the drb, and the situation with Nemu and all. But it's not that he's not looking for one, just that he wasn't actively trying. When Samatoki does get into a relationship, his first one in a few years, it's clearly shown that he's experienced and knows exactly what to look for and do. All his kisses, while a bit rough, are very much not sloppy in the slightest. You can tell that he knows what he's doing, especially when it comes to making you happy. Having an experienced partner did have its perks. He's not too nervous when it comes to affection as well, something that, if this was a new thing for you, was sure to take you by surprise. Samatoki isn't one to take it slow after all, and he does use his experience to his advantage at times, thinking back to what was pleasurable to his past partners and trying it out on you, if that was something you wanted. Honestly, he seemed pretty well versed when it came to relationships, even if he wasn't one to follow the stages or etiquette by the book.

Second-in-Commands and Identity (2/6)

Continuing on this series of the second stringers and how they tend to center on their identity and usually the changing of oneself in order to achieve what they want. Part I, is over Jiro and this one will be over Jyuto.

I will give a brief disclaimer with Jyuto as some of his info I actually had to get from other fans and the wiki since his backstory doesn't seem to come up explicitly in his solos nor the MTC drama tracks (I assume it's another guide book thing). So I'm basing off what I was able to pull up. Anywaaaaayyyyyyy.

Jyuto's change we don't see unfold in the present and unlikely to see it change at current. For him, he decided that he NEEDED to become a corrupt cop in order to get what he wanted. It was the action that seemed to get him the most headway towards make a drug-free division. It's given him control over others in his office to stay in line or turn from his own machinations. It's given him contacts that are otherwise unusable for a cop. It's been how he intimidates and coaxes what he needs from others. I can't see it being a change he particularly regrets. But this change had to start from somewhere.

I consider ARB a non-canon way to get canon information (I'm aware it is an alternate timeline but it is still a source for information about these guys). And it seems like Jyuto was not in Yokohama originally when he started his descent (Edit: I had to go back and it said explicitly Yokohama Police Department where he started but even Jyuto remarks how he doesn't really have jurisdiction in another division nor would really be out that way unless it was something related to his Yokohama activity. Sooooo, it is a little flub that I'm not sure how to reconcile at this moment and will continue on as if I didn't see those words for the upcoming stuff below).

He seemed to have started his path...maybe a little before coming to Yokohama. I would think he was originally a patrolman in Shinjuku but some time during his time there, he was already up to his scheming was as in because of him using Doppo to help him catch a pervert (in ARB). But even just going with canon stuff, it can be guessed that he was in Shinjuku since if he's seen Doppo around and/or been the one to interrogate him, he had to have been in that ward for work since Doppo lives and works in Shinjuku. Which would make sense for his inspiration to change. Shinjuku seems to be a dangerous district, mainly because of Kabuki-cho, with illicit activities and yakuza also being there (although it looks like efforts have made to have it change in the real location). Is it really a stretch to think of him having caught wind of some of his fellow officers accepting bribes? Especially when his own mentor had gone under radar as an addict? It just that he didn't get his big break until TDD era because of Samatoki and Ichiro.

Coming back from this very long way as to the how he was able to...Jyuto I would assume to have been a person on the straight and narrow but not having so deep of tunnel-vision to pass up opportunity. From 'Case File of a Corrupt Cop' event, Jyuto shows a strong sense of duty and does genuinely believe that his job is supposed to protect citizens from both threats from others and themselves. And he's not so strict that he would put the law above the welfare of citizens. For him, the ends justify the means.

I would like to think he had a faith in the system to make things right but after seeing how corruption can take even someone he trusted and cared for...was it really just a matter of when or how rather than 'if?' And if it was bound to happen one way or another, Jyuto rather be standing on top.

He has thrown all his chips onto this identity he's crafted for himself. That's how the other characters and we the audience know him: the corrupt cop. It's all he has. And as 'A Dream...For Good or Evil' would point, Jyuto would be damned before he loses that. Although this DRB seems like it may test Jyuto's dedication to who he's become vs his loyalty to the causes he's signed himself to (namely MTC).

Because the one place that Jyuto has consistently fumbled with is when it comes to Chuuoku. He was quick to try to quell Samatoki in the 1st DRB and attempt to smooth things over with Kadenkoji. He hesitated and backed down when Nemu put her authority over him despite Samatoki very much being close to being arrested in 'All in the Same Boat.' And he even could not muster a way out with his charisma nor any sort of deal when he was dismissed because of Chuuoku standing before him.

I wonder if it is a split in his identity of is he corrupt or is he a cop that he seems to be on his way to dealing with. Does it really take the dark side to really push what he wants? (Aka teaming up with Samatoki and Rio). Or does he just have to be good and kowtow the right times to get closer to his goals? (aka just rolling with Chuuoku's orders). If anyone could direct what Honobono had discussed with Jyuto to see if that might further cement that since it sounded like she either was mocking him or propositioning him?

Also I apologize if there was a little bit of jarring switch from me. Somehow...because of my luck...in the course of a few seconds, I had some paragraphs cut and then ones underneath it copied twice? So I had go back and re-sort what I wrote...Which I'm a bit bummed because I feel I'm missing such an importantly worded sentence and can't remember it.
