my mom has histamine reactions to mosquito bites and this has passed down to her children Of course. when we were very young we all had terrible reactions, and I still do; I am not afraid to say my worst fear Is mosquitos it is so bad. I don't have the reaction with all types of bug bites and it's not always exactly the same when I do—sometimes they look really big, and sometimes they get really hot, and usually they disappear for almost 24 hours after I first get them only to then come back with a horrible vengeance. around two days in they get real bad and I start getting the phantom bug bites; if it's near my elbow, all the way down to my hand and almost up to my shoulder itches concentrated in various places like absolute hell, and I can't tell where the bite is without looking.

if I have more than one near each other sometimes the itching eclipses any other sensation I can have and the main things I feel from the whole sector, unless I directly touch something on purpose, is the itch and also some sort of tingling. after the first day I avoid anything touching the actual bites basically at all costs. nothing makes it go away; I can't tell if diphenhydramine really helps, but I use it religiously anyways in case it does anything at all. if I get more than two my usual gambit is to cancel all my plans and knock out on allergy pills for like three days.

anyways yesterday flynn was talking about how he doesn't really get the reactions anymore and I was like damn that's sick but also wild! and he was like yeah when I have bites sometimes they itch and then I scratch them and then they don't really itch anymore. and at the time obviously I was like damn that's actually insane but I have been thinking about it since then and I literally cannot imagine what that would be like or that it's really even possible. it's so mind boggling to me this post doesn't even have a point besides to say oh my god is that really a real thing I genuinely cannot fathom it

DCXDP crossover where Danny ends up adopted by the bats for one reason or another, and they all know about his ghost powers/vigilantism but not the extent of it.

So one day they're all out patrolling Gotham, and one of Danny's rogues comes out, specifically one that's screaming about wearing his pelt on his wall. The bats go into protect mode obvs and scoop up Danny to try and shield him from this evil green glowy guy, only for Danny to flail around like a feral cat.

He's in Batman's arms like; "put me down, PUt mE dOwn, PUT ME DOWN, PUT ME DOWN!!"

and he bolts out of his arms to go and fight this guy and they are both absolutely feral! Biting and scratching and wailing, and just a whole bunch of freaky paranormal shit. To the bats this is the most desperate and destructive looking fight they've ever seen and they have no clue how to help. To Danny? The complete opposite.

In Danny's POV the whole interaction was completely friendly!

Skulker: Come out here, Phantom ! Come fight me so I can use your organs to build my throne !

Danny's vision: hey ghost boy 🥺🩷 let's go play outside 🥺🥺 plleeaaaseeee my mom said I can be out till the streetlights go off 🥺🥺

Danny: B you need to put me down !! Now !! I gotta go please ! Please !! You don't- you have to-- stop!! You don't understand, put me down!!"

Danny's vision: dad I wanna play too 🥺🥺 I'll be good I promise 🥺

The bats are obviously freaking out. They can't touch this guy and Danny is fighting for his afterlife ! Why can't they do anything ! Why are they so useless ??

After the fight Danny soups Skulker and descends back down to the bats. To them he looks beat. He looks scared. He's shaking now that he's back in B's arms, his eyes are droopy with exhaustion, but his pupils are still blown wide. They're all practically sick over him.

Meanwhile Danny is coming down from the equivalent of a sugar high or ghost zoomies. All that adrenaline is still coursing through his body making him shake, and the ghost fight after not facing a formidable opponent in a while, plus not having access to pure ecto like he had in Amity has left him sleepy.

He falls asleep in Batman's arms, making the bats think he passed out. When he detransforms in his sleep ? Oh, he must practically be dying again rn.

He wakes up in medbay confused. He just had the most fun he had in months. Why the fuck is he here ???

like the entire premise is that erik (the phantom in the book) grew up shunned and was literally a subject of a human zoo all because he was born disfigured. and he was outcast to the point where he had to live in the shadows and not show his face so everyone either thought he was a ghost or a monster. but he's just HUMAN and he craves human connection and a muse and he just wants to be LOVEDDDDD and christine was the only person who saw him but even then half of that was pity. and like fine if you include the sequel love never dies she does truly love him but just from the book/musical she leaves for something better and it's SO SAD

but yeah i've been sitting on this... i could write a fic but i've also had a vision of drawing them in this scene specifically (wanted to do one for good omens too but never got around to finishing it)

I feel like there’s a comparison between P4G adachi and p5r maruki actually. Specifically their social links/confidants contrasted with their villain arcs and how that plays into (or contradicts) the characterization of the wild cards

Yeah if he hadn't intervened they probably would have broken up on pretty favorable terms. But they did a (usually) responsible thing and tried couples counseling first. Because yeah they did want to be happy in their relationship and they were trying to make it work. So... Maruki helped. He helped them achieve what they wanted, helped make them happy. But the point of Royal in particular is that pain is a part of life too.

Oh yeah. There is definitely a meaningful correlation. I think that's what makes The villains particularly interesting.

Adachis manipulative nature supplements Persona 4's narrative about the truth... Is his social link about grooming Yu to think like he does? Manipulating his empathy in order to assist the blanket of doubt he's cast upon himself with his bumbling facade- culminating in rejecting the painful truth to Coddle a man who has cultivated unearned sympathy..? Isn't that the antithesis of what Persona 4 is about?

Maruki's manipulation of reality to emphasize happiness and comfort at the cost of freedom and growth is directly in contrast to persona 5s overall theme of "freedom" (although I think the theme of the game is a little more nuanced than that, I'm not quite awake enough to really think too hard about it rn lmaoo) like he means well. He means so well. But he's just a man. Is it right for one person in power to make a decision on what makes people happy? Or is it an abuse of power and a violation of human nature no matter how well-meaning it is? Even the bad end where Ren accepts the deal with yaldy makes commentary on this: The phantom thieves are not above this train of thought too... Right? (Something something the irony of a akechi expressing the sentiment yet doing what he did)

Streamer Phantom who grinds on Stardew Valley and proceeds to drop trauma hints during character conversations. His chat goes wild every time he says 'Yeah, my parents used to do that a lot, lol' or when 'Y'know my sister says I'm therapy bait. Don't know what that means, she's just sooo weird sometimes' Or something of that sort. So, yes, what I’m trying to say is that no, Batman does not adopt him. Instead a bunch of strangers on the internet try to raise a ghost child and tell him that his parents were kinda trash through Twitch lingo such as ‘not poggers’ and ‘f’’s in the chat, expanded by the use of custom made Phantom stickers, one with ‘Booooo!’ is used frequently for this.  And then there’s Streamer Danny Fenton who plays Kingdom Hearts. Chat loves it when he quits in rage due to the mechanics or when he just points to the characters in the game in a ‘are u seeing this shit rn?’ way. One day, he says this: “I got permission from my parents for streaming of course, I just don’t think they remember that I am.”. This leads to more and more Danny venting. Which lead to some revelations from his community, specifically from those who watch both Phantom and Fenton.

This, of course, leads chat, a bunch of strangers who knows from where to believe that, oh no, Phantom and Danny are brothers. There were other ludicrous theories such as them both being the same person, which made little sense since they both had different hair colors and clothing styles. Of course, they both streamed at different times, they both probably share the same streaming device because of their parents. And don’t you see how helpless Danny looks every time he talks about Phantom, something must be going on. This invites chat to investigate about Amity Park and to their horror realize that the Fentons chase their son for sport.

i have SO MANY THOUGHTS ON

1. the fact he's trying to get the kids to trust him

2. the fact that he went to BEN first of all people

starting with no. 1, i think he wants something. he so CLEARLY wants something. i don't TRUST THIS MAN he may be HOT but he is UP TO SMTH!!! what i don't know is what he wants from the kids. getting them on his side and trusting him feels like a way of getting more information out of them, and what could he possibly be digging for if not more information on the phantom realm?

Alex was asking Ashlyn about the fact that they all asked for ASL books at the same time and thus must have some way of communicating. i think they must know it has to do with the phantom realm (though they don't know that it's an entire separate dimension i think) and Maverick wants to know more about how they're communicating. with the promise that he will protect them from the rest of the government, which i think might just entail "keeping you for ourselves"

and how does he get the kids to trust them? making himself seem like a good option, and separating himself from "those who put them here." the government. the bad part of the government. and how does he do that?

well that's where we come to no. 2

they have cameras. they can watch the kids and how they're acting. in fact, they've been watching the kids for a while now. if i were to pick anyone to try and talk to to get on my side having observed them from a distance, maybe id pick Taylor or Logan. the others are stubborn or unpredictable in their own ways.

So why Ben?

Maverick is trying to draw several comparisons in Ben's mind, especially with using language like the above and like this:

The government =/ Maverick and his people

He's trying to get into Ben's mind and say "Hey. We want the same thing you want: to get rid of this place." The way he calls them a bunch of pigs ALMOST makes me hesitate on thinking he's being insincere, but on the other hand would that phrasing not resonate with a jaded teenage boy who's been in trouble before?

Maverick went to Ben because he saw a way in through Ben. Even though Ben is violent and stubborn (right now. and towards the staff), he recognizes that he can use Ben's past as a way of leveraging himself to a higher status in Ben's mind. Besides, if he can get one of the more stubborn kids to crack first, he's got a much easier way in with the others.

Furthermore, this will lead to more observation. He must know the kids are communicating somehow, he just doesn't know how exactly yet. This part isn't Ben specific, but by talking to one of them, he then gives himself the opportunity to watch the rest more closely for any mention of things he's said to Ben. Evidence that they have some way of talking. A way of figuring out how they're doing so.

Maverick is using Ben's past to manipulate him into trusting him.

I need you to know just . how close to tears I am . I just reread your Azul meeting his Yutu and I am. IM CRYING. THE “Your daddy’s here” IS TAKING ME OUT AND SHOOTING ME DEAD . IM GENUINELY TEARING UP. I think I’ve read every part so far twice over, barring the Yuu specific ones cause they Hurt Me. Speaking of hurt, Deuce!Yutu and Riddle!Yutu hurt me so so bad . All of the Yutus do, but they’re the ones that just came to mind rn and it’s so so sad. Especially Riddle! Yutu because he hates his dad :( Idek why I might’ve blocked out why LMAO,,, I love all the Heartslabyul characters and their kids it makes me cry. Especially Trey. I would love to see Jamil!Yutu and how Jamil reacts to his child feeling guilt for something he never did, was never responsible for, and again has to suffer through because of the family theirs has been forced to serve. I think he’d be so mad, so so mad this boy has grown up thinking he’s the biggest blight of his father’s life, the cause of his death, when in reality he’s probably someone Original Timeline! Jamil would have cherished.

The way I write the phantoms they posses the instincts of their former selves but the individual lacks the input you might associate with consciousness. I'll get more into it in the second half of Rook's post... but there is a degree of awareness of their actions.
