also AM I STUPID???? i always thought greg's "are you okay"s at tom came from a place of non-reaction/ not really knowing how to respond the same way people don't know how to react when their friend suddenly starts crying. to me tom exposes his vulnerability, his soft emotional underbelly to greg, but greg doesn't reciprocate--or at least, greg is forced to be 'vulnerable' around tom because he is Below tom in the hierarchy and tom imposes control on him, but he's never particularly vulnerable or displays emotions reserved for tom, around tom, the same way tom displays emotions reserved for greg around greg. in fact i'd say greg has never been a particulary emotional character at all, the most emotion i recall him displaying are probably the attack child scene and "i just turned down a quarter million and now im going to jail because of this fucking guy!", instances where his own safety was endangered. to say that "are you okay?" is on par with any other moment where tom had his defenses down around greg the way he never is around anybody else. well it is laughable

tldr tomgreg is not reciprocated at least nowhere near on an equal scale. when greg asks tom "are you okay?", he's more likely asking: "am i okay?"
