Why do you think so many fanon versions of dick grayson are just straight up villains or the weakest screw ups imaginable?

Because the original author of the tropes either

A.) Didn't see how him being manipulative was for the greater good,

or

B.) did not see past his facade, lmao

And then the reason why those versions of him are so popular is because a lot of Batfam Fanfic writers don't interract with the source material, or TV shows/movies (which is fair, there's a lot of content to sift through), so then when they go to write Dick Grayson, they write the version of him that they've read, or seen, which is often different from who he really is in Canon.

I honestly can't blame them, though, because I definitely base my Dick Grayson off of a mix of the animated show Young Justice Dick with a bit of 90's Dick thrown in there because I'm more used to YJ Dick.
