Halloween coming up?
Remember that all humans, young or old, are different.
Some kids–like some with autism, won't yell "trick or treat" and some don't speak because of other reasons.
A kid doesn't yell "trick or treat"? Don't be a dick. Give the kid some candy.
If you were a kid and for some reason couldn't/wouldn't verbally communicate enough to say those words, you'd still want candy and still be sad and confused on why you'd be denied the candy that the "normal" kids around you were being given.
Kids want to enjoy their Halloween as much as possible. If a kid can't say "trick or treat", that doesn't mean you should give everyone else candy and tell them "no". They're just kids trying their best to have as much fun as everyone else but having struggles. You don't need to fully understand it, you just have to do something like...I dunno...give them the candy and say "happy Halloween"?
