Howdy, hope your week has been kind.
A Wednesday prompt: Alec's first birthday since he and Magnus got together. Preferably not super focused on immortality (angst or not)
Thanks! 💛
angst with a happy ending! no immortality angst because obviously Alec is going to be immortal at some point. i only write immortal husbands, though how they get Alec immortal can sometimes be left open to interpretation.
thank you! it has been a busy week with a couple unexpected dust storms that kicked allergies off and my asthma into gear so i spent like 18 hours yesterday in that 'i am medicated and semi-aware of the world but not really' stage and snapped out of it mostly in time to write today so i'm happy! i hope you are having a good week!

Alec sighs in relief as he finally gets to the loft and when he enters, he hisses as the scent and presence of other nephilim and people hit him.
Magnus is standing there, splendid and magnificent and with a soft smile on his face… and he’s surrounded by Alec’s family and more shadowhunters and warlocks and even Maia.
“Nope.” Is all Alec says and he turns and walks out of the room, leaving to go for the rooftop stairs that had better still be warded to keep out pests. Because Alec is not in the mood for a party, surprise or otherwise and if anyone thinks he’s going to give in, they have another thing coming to them.
“Alec!” Izzy calls behind him, running to catch up and her strong, elegant and painted fingers catch on his elbow. “Hermano, it’s your birthday. Come on, we’re all here to celebrate.”
“And yet, I don’t want to.” Is all Alec says and he pushes her hand off and steps into the staircase, pleased when the door seals behind him.
He shrugs off his weapons as he climbs and leaves his boots and jacket on the bench near the roof door. He’s not sure what’s going on below, but he doesn’t care.
Alec’s made it clear that he doesn’t want a party, that he wanted to spend his first birthday with Magnus just the two of them. Especially when this week has been one exhaustion after the other and yet apparently, once again everyone else’s opinion matters more than his.
“Alexander—” Magnus says, when he opens the roof door less than ten minutes later.
“Are they gone?” Alec asks, interrupting him coolly and refusing to turn to look at Magnus.
“Yes, of course darling. If I’d realized how much you’d dislike it, I wouldn’t have listened to Izzy and Jace.”
“So why did you?” Alec bites out, because he can’t help himself. “I told you what I wanted and what I didn’t want, Magnus. So why did you even bother asking me if you were just going to ignore me? Why are Izzy and Jace’s opinions more important than my own? Especially when it comes to me?” Alec scoffs, “Izzy told me I owed it to myself and you to have a party the other day. I laughed at her, because you and I had already agreed to just take a day to ourselves. Now I realize it was her way of telling me to buck up and accept it, to just deal with the party.”
“Alec,” Magnus offers, and Alec just sighs and steps further into the garden and away from Magnus.
“I’m guessing the plans we actually made got canceled?” He asks and he can’t help that he’s being so terse. This is the first birthday he’s actually been looking forward to for ages and it’s once again ruined by his family. The same way it is every year.
“Darling, I’m so sorry. I didn’t even consider how it might feel for you, Isabelle and Jace were so sure this would be what you wanted.”
“So, you cancelled them. Because Izzy convinced you she knew best. Which I don’t understand how she managed that, because you know how I feel about her ignoring what I want.”
“I know how much you love your family.” Magnus says, almost helplessly and Alec is getting really sick of his love for people being the reason why nothing he says matters.
“So? What does loving them have to do with always have to be punished for that love? I can’t have anything I enjoy? I don’t get to make choices? It’s all picked for me based on that love.” Alec sighs, “I was looking forward to tonight, for once. Now I just want to sleep and hope this day never comes again, the same way I’ve felt the last decade and a half.”
Magnus makes an involuntary noise and Alec ignores it, “I wanted to have this day, just with you. So I could enjoy it for once and now—” Alec sighs. “I think I’m going to take a walk, Magnus. I’ll be back later.”
Arms wrap around his waist before he can even think of heading to the edge of the roof and jumping off and then Alec is being bodily picked up and tossed through a portal.
“Magnus!” He yelps as he lands in sand, because this isn’t something he expected from his boyfriend. Magnus is normally great about giving him space when needed, a little too great sometimes.
“Yes, yes. You need to take a walk.” Magnus tells him, utterly sincere and his golden eyes calm and patient and filled with remorse. “This Isle is uncharted and undocumented to all but a few in the Spiral Labryinth, you can walk as much as you want for as far as you want. Around the whole Isle if you need to, there are no demons here to watch out for.” Magnus reaches out and then lets his hands fall with a soft, sad sigh.
“I got too swept up in the idea of showing you off, of proving how well we’re working together. Despite what we’ve talked about, it never occurred to me that Isabelle would be so inconsiderate as to…” Magnus pauses and sighs, “ah. In hindsight, that is something I should have realized sooner. I suppose I let my own hubris get to me, Alexander. Which isn’t an excuse, but I am sorry beloved. I never meant to corner you, especially not in our home.”
“Is it?” Alec asks quietly, because Magnus has never said or offered and Alec isn’t brave enough to go for it, not yet.
“Is it what?”
“Our home?”
“Of course, sayang.” And Magnus looks heartbroken, “have I never told you?” He asks, as if it’s unimaginable and when Alec shakes his head, Magnus reaches up his hands before he pauses. Unwilling to touch without permission when Alec is this upset.
Alec leans into the hold and sighs as Magnus’ warm hands cup his face and then he’s pulled so that they can both press their foreheads against each other.
“Walk with me?” Alec whispers, “I can’t talk. Not yet, but you can. If you want. Tell me about the plants and animals here? What kind of experiments you’ve done? Something just us, please?”
“Oh, darling. The stories I’m about to tell you.” Magnus promises him gently and his eyes crinkle like little gold moons when Alec takes Magnus’ hand.
This isn’t how he wanted it.
But this is what he wanted.
Magnus and he without any pressure of the future, just enjoying each other and learning more… after all.
It’s still new.

gonna be real, i get uncomfortable in the fics where izzy and jace pressure alec to do things he doesn't want to do and then he does them and meets magnus or makes magnus happy and alec's like 'wow yes i'm so glad my boundaries were ignored and my opinion mocked and it was totally worth being made intensely uncomfortable because i met magnus'.
and like, mood to meeting magnus but not mood to 'hey we know better than you because you're an introvert and a repressed queer so you need to listen to us because we know best' because i've had that vibe directed at me and it's so gross. and it's used in canon show too and never called out as manipulative and ick.
sorry to ramble on a fic fill and i don't think people should stop writing fics like that if they want them, i just tend to avoid them especially because it's a canon show trait that i hate and write out of my fics.

The Price We Pay - A UFO Fic
[Freeman learns the consequences of his actions]
[Inspired by episode “A Question of Priorities"]
This is by no means finished, but I wanted to share it with my fellow UFO fans. Thanks!
Alec Freeman’s footfalls echoed down the bright corridor as he rounded the corner of S.H.A.D.O.’s central command hub. He’d forgotten a bit of paperwork at Keith Ford’s desk and meant to pick it up before finally heading home. The past sixteen hours had been particularly grueling after a string of UFOs managed to sneak past the interceptors, enter the atmosphere, and evade Sky One long enough to give everyone ulcers. With the day finally behind him he was eager to crawl between the sheets and expected to be asleep before his head touched the pillow.
Ford, ever a neat man, kept his station clean and Freeman found the survey maps immediately. He glanced at them disinterestedly, barely registering words as he touched a cigarette to his lips for the long walk to his car. Just once, he thought, I’d like to get out of here at a reasonable hour. Tucking the maps under his arm, he fished a lighter from his pocket and took a drag as the cigarette caught. As he turned to leave he noticed a sliver of light under Ed Straker’s office door. Odd, he thought, taking another pull from the cigarette. I’d assumed he’d left already.
The unmistakable smell of alcohol hit him as the doors opened at his approach; Freeman paused at the entry, trying to make sense of the scene before him.
Straker was seated, slumped over a mess of dossiers that spilled from his desk onto the floor, clutching a half empty glass in a white-knuckle grip. He apparently had heard the door open and sat up straight in alarm, jerking his head around to see Freeman lingering in the doorway. A look of panic passed behind his cool stare and settled into mild wariness.
“Easy,” Freeman began as he walked into the room, “it’s only me.”
Straker acknowledged him with a nod but otherwise said nothing. All their interactions over the past few days had been constrained, and despite Straker’s brusque assurances to the contrary, Freeman had a gut feeling he didn’t have the whole story. Seeing Straker partake in alcohol did little to alleviate his concerns, on the contrary it amplified them; the man made a point never to touch the stuff.
He glanced at the glass again and frowned. “All right, who died?”
Straker stared hard at the wall opposite him, unblinking. His fingers tensed around the glass.
“John,” he managed quietly. “John died.”
Freeman froze. John?
“The transport didn’t make it in time. It carried antibiotics...”
“Antibiotics?”
Freeman suddenly recalled the way Straker’s face paled upon hearing the transport had been used to find the downed UFO. He swallowed back sour bile rising in his throat as realization set in. He'd made the decision to divert the transport, they were his orders, on his call. His fault.
“For God’s sake, Ed, why didn’t you tell me that transport carried medication for your son? Had I known I never would have ordered it to change course!”
Freeman ran his free hand through his hair as he desperately paced the office, cigarette dangling forgotten in his other. He turned to pin Straker with a desperate, pleading look.
“You should have told me!”
“To what end, Alec? What could I have done? We can’t afford to waste any opportunity, any chance, to learn more about these alien invaders.”
“But your son—”
“You know as well as I do, the responsibility of this job! The sacrifices we agreed to when joining S.H.A.D.O.!”
A heavy fist slammed on the desk, startling them both. Freeman dropped his eyes to the floor and sighed. He rolled the cigarette between his thumb and finger, watching the ash fall onto the tile floor. Normally he would never have been so inconsiderate, but courtesy was the furthest thing from his mind.
“How can I perform my duties if I don’t know what’s going on?” he asked quietly.
#Gerry Anderson’s ufo#Alec freeman#ed straker#again this is not anywhere near finished but it’s been sitting in my drafts#and that episode was too good not to work with#enjoy :)

i don’t need your help ~ jace herondale;shadowhunters
word count: 2524
request?: yes!
“Alec Lightwood or Jace Herondale (either one works) smut? If you're comfortable with writing for shadowhunters, ofc <3″
description: after a run in with a demon that almost turns bad, a fight between her and one of her fellow shadowhunters turns into something so much more
pairing: jace herondale x female!reader
warnings: swearing, mentions of violence, smut
masterlist (one, two)
Izzy helped me limp into the Institute, my body feeling run down and exhausted already. She laid me down on a bed and it took me a moment to register that it was my own bed. I was aching all over, but I tried to keep a brave face. At least, I thought I was keeping a brave face. For all I knew I was sobbing like a baby.
“I’ll get my stele,” she told me. “Just...just stay awake, okay?”
I tried to respond but it came out as a pained moan instead. Izzy quickly raced from my room to her own. I could hear her in the distance furiously looking for here stele. I tried to stay awake but my eyes were starting to grow heavy and my head was lulling back against the pillow under me. The thought of drifting off into unconsciousness felt like the best idea I had ever had in that moment.
I heard someone at the door and thought it was Izzy coming back. When I looked up, I saw it was Jace standing in my doorway. His face was pale and he was staring at me in horror. I could only imagine how awful I looked.
“(Y/N),” he breathed. He quickly raced to my side and pulled his stele out. “What the hell happened to you?”
“She had a run in with a demon while she was alone,” Izzy responded, appearing at Jace’s side. “I got there just in time. Can you help me draw healing ruins? She’s going to need a few.”
“I’m way ahead of you.”
The slight burn of Jace’s stele touching my arm caused me to let out a yelp of pain. He looked at me with sympathy as he continued to draw the healing Rune. Izzy moved to my other side and started drawing a Rune there too. It hurt as they were drawing them, but I felt a numbness wash over my body as the Rune started to take effect.
Jace started to stroke my hair after drawing another ruin on me. He looked down at me, his face full of concern. “Rest while the ruins do their work, (Y/N).”
Getting Jace’s permission to finally rest felt like a blessing, and within seconds I was passed out.
~~~~~~
I wasn’t sure how long I was out. When I woke up again, my head still felt heavy and my vision was spinning a little. I tried to lift my head to look around, but it felt like someone had poured nails into my head and shaken it. I groaned and laid back down again, raising my hand to put it on my forehead. I realized then that the pain had completely left my body, except for the headache I had, and I felt good as new again.
“How long have I been out?” I asked, turning my head to see who had stayed with me while I was unconscious. I knew either Jace or Izzy had. They weren’t going to leave me when I was in such rough condition.
Through the slight darkness of my room, I could make out the figure sitting down as Jace. I was slightly shocked to see that Jace was the one who had stayed. Despite his caring and concerned nature when Izzy had first brought me home, the two of us weren’t exactly close. We didn’t hate each other or anything, but we were constantly fighting and he irritated the hell out of me. I didn’t think his kindness would extend to staying with me while I was unconscious.
“A few hours,” he responded. “It’s 2am now, you got back around 8 or 9pm I think.”
I groaned. “I definitely feel like I’ve been out for five or six hours.”
“What were you thinking?” Jace questioned, rising from his seat. “Facing a demon alone? You were lucky that Izzy had known where you were or else you definitely wouldn’t have been feeling as good as you do now.”
“Thanks for that, Captain Obvious,” I muttered. “For your information, I didn’t go out with the intentions of facing a demon alone. I was just out and I got cornered by a demon that knew I was a Shadowhunter. I wasn’t expecting it and it got the jump on me.”
“You shouldn’t have gone out on your own at all. You know the dangers of being caught are high, especially when you can be spotted at any time by a demon.”
I braced myself as I sat up, the pounding feeling in my head intensifying for just a moment, before slowly numbing again.
“I can’t stay cooped up here forever, Jace,” I retorted. “I’m more than capable of taking care of myself.”
“Obviously you’re not or else you wouldn’t have been on death’s doorstep when you got back here.”
“I was not on death’s doorstep. Izzy found me in time, but even if she hadn’t I would’ve been fine.”
“You didn’t look fine.”
I groaned and rolled my eyes. “Listen Jace, I appreciate this...concern you have for me, but I’m fine. I don’t need this lecture, I don’t need anyone’s help, especially not yours. You’ve made it very clear that you don’t actually like me all that much, so you don’t need to continue this caring act, or the lecture. I’m fine and I can take care of myself.”
The tension hung in the air. I expected Jace to walk away and to finally leave me alone. You can imagine my shock when he approached me suddenly, putting one hand behind my head and pulling me in for a kiss.
I was shocked. I didn’t know how to respond to it. I thought for a second that Jace had gone insane, that maybe some Downworlder had scrambled his brain or something. There was no way in Hell that Jace Herondale would willingly kiss me. I was just a torn in his side, and he was one in mine.
But something just felt right about the kiss. His rough hands were gentle as one cupped the back of my neck while the other was wrapped around my waist. He pulled me forward to the edge of the bed, nudging my legs open so he could stand between them. My hands were gripping the t-shirt he was wearing, taking in every last bit of him that I could.
I felt myself laying back on my bed against, Jace’s hand still under my head. He moved with me, hovering over me as our lips moved perfectly in sync with one another. His other hand slipped under my shirt, softly trailing up my side until he reached my bra. We broke away from the kiss just long enough for Jace to pull my shirt over my head and unhook my bra in one swift motion.
He looked down at me, his beautiful different colored eyes soft but full of lust. He gently ran his fingers over my cheek before pressing his lips against mine once more, then moving to start kissing cheek, my jaw, my neck. His lips hovered a moment over the fresh Runes that he and Izzy had drawn on my skin. When he pressed a kiss against them, it almost felt like he was soothing the slight burn that was still there. He continued to gently brush his lips over the white scars left behind from other Runes that had been drawn on my skin for years.
My head fell back against the pillow underneath me as Jace’s lips continued to kiss down my chest and stomach, stopping just above the hem of my jeans. He looked up at me, waiting for permission. When I nodded, he made quick work of pulling my jeans and panties off at one time. He pressed another light kiss just above m aching core before diving in with his tongue.
I gasped at the pleasurable feeling. Of course, being a Shadowhunter doesn’t mean you never have sex. Quite the opposite, really. All four of us in the Institution were no strangers to sex. But this...this was a feeling of pleasure beyond what I had ever experienced before. I blamed the fact that I had only ever had sex with Mundane men before now.
I ran a hand through Jace’s hair and grabbed hold of it. The action caused him to moan against me, the vibrations running through my body.
He lifted his head for air, replacing his tongue with his fingers as he lightly played with my clit.
“I can’t describe how long I’ve been waiting for this,” he said, placing gentle kisses against my stomach again.
“You have a weird way of sh - oh - owing it,” I said, trying to tease him through the pleasure he was giving me.
He smiled in response and moved his hand away. I whimpered from the lack of contact, an action I wasn’t too proud of afterwards but in the moment I could care less.
Jace kissed my lips again, the taste of my arousal on his lips and tongue. It turned me on even more and I just wanted to have him inside of me.
I pushed him down onto the bed and climbed onto his lap, straddling him. He looked impressed by my action. I ran my hands down his still clothed chest, reaching the bottom of his shirt.
“I hardly think it’s far that you’re still dressed while I’m completely naked,” I said.
“Well, we can fix that,” he responded.
I made quick work of taking his clothes off, discarding them somewhere on the floor with my own. When I pulled his boxers down, I audibly gasped at his length. He chuckled at my reaction. “Surprised?”
“Surprised that my fantasies were true,” I responded.
Jace raised an eyebrow at me. “You’ve fantasized about me?”
I took him in my hand and started to slowly stroke him. A breathy gasp escaped from his mouth as he fell completely helpless to my touch.
“It’s hard not to sometimes,” I admitted. “When you’re walking around here in your tight clothes, or with no shirt on. You’re so confident and cocky, it’s hard not to imagine what you’d be like in bed.”
“You finally have the real me here,” he said. “Why not make those fantasies a reality?”
He didn’t have to asked twice.
I spit onto the head of his dick, using my hand to spread it all over him before lining him up with my entrance. The moment his tip slipped inside of me, we both moaned in pleasure and relief. So much built up tension between us, sexual and otherwise, finally being released.
I slowly sat myself down on him, taking in every inch. His hands found their way to my hips, his fingers digging in so harshly that I was sure I’d have bruises there. Once I had adjusted to his size, he started rocking my hips against him, the friction starting to build between us.
I placed my hands on his chest, trying to steady myself as I took over rocking my hips. He looked into my eyes, his mouth partially open as moans and whimpers escaped from his lips. Even with these small movements he was hitting a spot inside of me that I had never felt before. I was almost sure I’d orgasm within seconds.
Jace sat up then, wrapping one arm around my waist while planting the other one on the bed behind him. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders, holding on tightly as he began to thrust up into me. The motions were rougher and faster, hitting that spot inside of me with a force I hadn’t felt before. I buried my head in Jace’s shoulder, trying to muffle my moans as I remembered there were two other people living in the Institution.
“Does that feel good?” he asked.
“Fuck Jace,” I moaned. “That feels so fucking good. I might...I might...”
“What are you gonna do, princess?”
Fuck! And a pet name, too? I was putty in his hands.
I couldn’t even finish my sentence. My climax built up quick and hit me before I was even ready for it. I moaned Jace’s name against his shoulder as I felt myself clenching around him, a warm sensation running through my body.
“Fuck,” he breathed, his thrusts becoming sloppier. “I’m gonna cum.”
“Cum in me,” I whispered. “Please, Jace.”
He threw his head back and groaned as I felt him finish inside of me. I gasped at the feeling, which was almost enough to make me orgasm again.
Jace fell backwards onto the bed, taking me with him. I giggled as I settled against his chest, still wrapped around his softening member. I could stay like that for hours if Jace wanted to.
“Maybe I should get attacked by demons more often,” I mumbled to myself.
Jace tensed under me. “I would much rather if you didn’t.”
I moved my head to look up at him, raising an eyebrow. “Relax, I was only joking. I meant what I said earlier, Jace, I can handle demons on my own.”
He relaxed again, starting to trace his fingers up and down my back. “I know you can. I shouldn’t have overreacted earlier. I’m sorry.”
Normally I’d make some quip about him apologizing, but some things were starting to add up in my head. “You were always hounding me and shit because you were worried for me.”
It wasn’t a question, but Jace responded anyways. “Yeah. I...I just never wanted you to get hurt.”
“Jace, I’m a Shadowhunter just like you. I’ve faced numerous Downworlders before, both by myself and with you guys. I can take care of myself, you don’t have to worry about me.”
“I’m well aware of that. I’ve always been impressed with your fighting skills. It’s just...I care for you in a way that I’ve never cared for someone before. I always worry when you’re out with Izzy or Alec or anyone who isn’t me because I’m afraid of the day that...maybe you don’t come back. When I saw you earlier today...I was so terrified that I was actually going to lose you.”
I propped myself up a bit to take Jace’s face in my hands. “I appreciate how much you care, but you have to have faith in me, Jace. This is the first time I’ve seriously been injured while fighting a Downworlder, and I promise you it’ll be the last time too.”
Jace nodded. I smiled a little and leaned down to kiss him again. I finally decided to untangle myself from him, although I felt empty without him inside of me. I laid down next to him, feeling sleepy from our earlier activities.
My eyes were starting to close when Jace said, “Hey (Y/N).”
“Yeah?”
“Maybe we should close the door next time we decide to have sex.”
My eyes popped open to see that my bedroom door was wide open. I hadn’t noticed that earlier, what with being...“preoccupied” and all. I groaned and buried my face in Jace’s chest as he laughed.
shadowhunters fic recs (part 1)
these are all going to be malec fic recs, sorry if that’s not what you’re looking for. also, i might have enough for a part 2? i don’t know, we’ll just have to see, i suppose. edit: nope, sorry, i don’t think there’ll be a part 2 anytime soon. the starred ones are my personal favorites. everything is complete unless stated otherwise.
alec lightwood / magnus bane (malec) fic recs
*Closed Doors Don't Lie by RedOrchid (~93k)
When the summoning of the Memory Demon reveals that it's not only Clary's memories that have been meddled with, Alec finds himself being pushed off the path set out for him and onto a different one.
this one was really good! there’s past alec / jace, and i think there are a few scenes of them getting together (i could be wrong, it’s been a while), but they are very brief.
Stone Can Be Broken by lawsofchaos (~4k)
[There’s a deep weariness in Alec’s eyes when he finally looks up to meet Catarina’s gaze. Magnus, on the other hand, turns away to glare at the wall behind Alec’s head, the line of the warlock’s shoulders as razor-sharp as the war paint masquerading as eyeliner on his face.
Alec takes a deep inhale, pushing back the hurt and tilting his chin up ever so slightly in quiet resignation as he breathes out slowly.
“In order for true love’s kiss to break the curse,” and here Alec’s voice is carefully even against the incipient tightening of his throat, “is the love required to be mutual?”]
this is like post break-up and it has a hopeful ending, but it was really heartbreaking for me.
a cold night for good deeds by theprophetlemonade (~510k)
[“There’s this thing that you do,” Alec murmurs. “This power you have that makes you look indestructible.”
“You know that’s not true,” says Magnus.
“I do,” replies Alec, “But even then … there are times when I’m not so sure.”]
1992, New York, a city hanging on to politically-tinged Cold War feelings. Alec Lightwood is a Corporate - a superhero for hire - jostling with a secret identity, holding on to a sense of a normal life, and the fact vigilantes keep turning up murdered in the gutters with no explanation.
Things can only get worse when Magnus - an investigative journalist - starts peeling back Alec’s carefully-crafted mask … and then there’s the mysterious vigilante with the power to move things with his mind who keeps turning up wherever Alec goes - Alec just can’t cut a break.
A neonoir slow-burn superheroes AU about identity, truth, and falling in love without knowing someone’s real name (ft. everyone has superpowers because I couldn’t help myself).
this is the longest fic i’ve ever read. like, with most fics, normally i’d just stop at 200k max, because i literally just can’t read more than that sometimes. but this one was absolutely brilliant. the writing was fantastic, and there was a lot of attention to detail. there’s purple prose too, i get that it’s not everyone’s thing, but it somehow fits so well. it’s also very slow burn, you’ve got to be down for a long ride.
*Best Laid Plans by SuperficialPeasant (~131k)
When a High Warlock looking to end his celibacy streak meets a Shadowhunter after no-baggage thrills, the two make a deal: anytime, anywhere, no strings attached.
it’s a canon rewrite, essentially. the malec relationship starts pre-canon and it changes so much. one of the tags is “63794102 things change when you put Clary Fray in a holding cell” and that’s literally what made me click on the fic. as you can probably tell from that tag, there’s a bit of clary bashing (very little though). also i love this characterization of alec. he’s so much more confidant and there is way less gay panicking with him and magnus. there’s a fair amount of well-written smut too.
I am your secret and you are mine by xxDreamy (~14k)
Magnus and Alec are leading actors in one of the most popular shows on TV. They met seven years ago on the set and became friends right away. They have been dating for four years by now and no one knows about this. As much as they want to share their relationship with the world, it doesn't seem so easy to do it so they just keep hiding. Until one day they don't have to anymore.
Aka Celebrity AU where they are shamelessly flirting with each other on every occasion and no one pays attention to it because it's how they've been for last seven years.
secret relationship, and modern au with malec as costars. very well done.
On Ice by Carmenlire (~3.5k) (series is ~25k)
[He crouches down until he can meet the man's eyes from where he’s staring down at the floor, expression blank.
“You were a dead man as soon as my customer was pronounced DOA on the fucking sidewalk," Alec says softly. "You don’t come onto my turf and try to screw me and my customers because do you know what happens if you do?”
The man swallows painfully but Alec doesn't give him a chance to finish before he continues, "You don't live to tell the tale."]
Or, Mafia AU
mafia/mob boss alec and magnus of rival gangs. i live for bamf dubious morality alec. it’s a part of a six part incomplete series with mostly oneshots.
One step ahead by apathyinreverie (~103k)
What if Alec and Magnus had already met during that Pandemonium scene in the very first episode?
Or, how things might have gone if Magnus and Alec had just had a few extra days to get to know each other, before Valentine’s schemes, Clary’s various crusades, Lightwood family history revelations and Clave-Downworld politics made everything more difficult for them than it really needed to be.
It truly might have made all the difference in the world.
yeah, another fix-it where malec meets pre-canon.
Alec’s not sure how to process that Max, his five-month old baby, is apparently a dimension hopping private investigator 140 years in the future. Magnus has a much easier time dealing with it.
[“Sorry,” says Max, blinking rapidly. He doesn’t look away from Alec. He looks – Alec doesn’t know how to describe the expression on Max’s face. “It’s just... it’s been a long time since I saw you, Dad.”]
alec and magnus have a bond. it's probably going to be telepathic.
“I like a challenge Darling”
Word Count: 5,366 Demetri x reader Oneshot Warnings: Fluff, reader being paddled, NSFW
Marcus and Demetri had a different relationship as Master and Personal Bodyguard when compared to Aro and the Twins and Caius and Felix. Marcus would quite often converse with the tracker when it was just the two of them in his private study, exchanging views of the books they have read, sharing stories from their human lives etc. This is how he came to know that Demetri had become lonely over the years as he had yet to find his mate, unlike his friend Felix who found his mate Mia a few decades back. Marcus had told him to have faith and that when the time is right, he would meet his mate and they would spend an eternity together.
So when Demetri finally met Y/N courtesy of Esme Cullen, although it was totally by accident that the two met, Marcus was happy for him and welcomed Y/N into the family with open arms. He liked her as she was respectful to him and his brothers and being human, she was curious about a lot of things including their world, their laws and this was something Marcus found endearing about her and would give her as much of his time as possible when Demetri was away so she wouldn’t become bored or restless. Even Caius liked her and he hated humans. Marcus surmised this was because of her interest in their laws and how they came to power and she understood that the vampire world and the human world were better off under their rule than that of their predecessors.
Marcus was in his private study working at his desk, Demetri being his personal bodyguard was in the room sitting on the sofa reading. Marcus didn’t see the point of him standing at the back of the office when he could be comfortable on the sofa reading or planning for missions. Sometimes Marcus would hide in his office just to escape the throne room and the bickering of his brothers, he always bought Demetri with him which the tracker appreciated. This was one of those occasions.
They had been in Marcus’ study for about an hour when he surprised Demetri with a request, one that related to Y/N. “Demetri, would you bring Y/N to my office please as I have a proposition for her?” Demetri’s eyebrows rose, a look of shock flashed across his and he knew Marcus saw it “Do not worry my boy, it’s nothing untoward. I promise” Marcus reassured him “Of course Master. When would you like to see her?” He asked “As soon as possible” Marcus replied “I’ll go get her now then. She’s in the garden” “Very well. Thank you Demetri.” Demetri bowed his head and left the room making his way out to the South facing garden where Y/N was reading by the fountain.
“Hello mi amore” He said softly as he approached her, not wanting to spook her “Demetri” She replied with a smile, one that showed she was happy to see him “Have you been let off early?” She asked, a hopeful look crossed her face “No, sorry. I’m here to escort you Marcus’ study as he would like to talk to you” He replied “Oh. Is it bad? Have I done something wrong?” “Not that I am aware off. Maybe he has become bored of my company and wishes for yours instead” He chuckled “We both know that’s a lie. He’d never get bored of talking to you, you have too much in common. I’ll admit he does seem to like my company or should I say he likes to keep me company when you are away on missions” She replied as she slipped her hand in his, their fingers interlacing with one another. Demetri loved how warm she felt against his skin.
“Good afternoon Y/N” Marcus greeted her with a smile as she entered his study, Demetri right behind her “Afternoon Marcus, I trust you are well” She replied with a smile of her own “I am thank you and hope you are too” He gestured for them to sit on the sofa “I’m well too, thank you for asking” She sat beside Demetri and placed her hand in his, Marcus noticed and smiled, seeing the strong bond between them despite the short time they had been together.
“So you may be wondering why I asked to see you?” Y/N nodded and smiled “Well, Gianna is out sick for the week and I was hoping you might fill in for her. I know the two of you get along well and you have helped her out on occasion, when you’ve needed a change of scenery for example” Y/N looked at Demetri and he just smiled back at her “It’s your decision cara mia” She looked back at Marcus and smiled “I’d love too. Be nice to do something different for a week and at least I know I’ll be safe as everyone knows I’m Dem’s mate” She chuckled, Marcus and Demetri doing the same “That’s very true my dear.” Y/N was in for an interesting week and she didn’t even know it.
Later that night Marcus informed Aro and Caius that Y/N was covering reception for the remainder of the week in Gianna’s absence. They were pleased to hear this as the lower guard Louis, who had covered that day did not do a very good job. Caius had threatened to rip his hand off just because he could.
The following morning Demetri escorted Y/N down to reception and ensured she had everything she needed to complete the day’s work “Thank you for helping out mi amore” He said softly and placed a kiss to her temple “It’s no bother really. I’ve helped Gianna before and it’ll be nice to be out of our room and see somewhere other than the library for a few days” She replied “I’ll come by and see you at lunchtime” He kissed her lips before leaving and heading to the throne room for guard duty. “Please gods let this week pass without incident for my beloved” Demetri muttered low, praying to his gods.
The first two days on reception went by without any problems or incidents, something everyone was pleased with. Day three however, there was a small problem when Heidi bought the ‘tour’ group in. Two of the tourists started bickering and Heidi was busy sorting out the disruption and therefore didn’t hear one young lady ask Y/N where the bathroom was “I don’t know why they call it morning sickness when it lasts all day” She said to Y/N as they walked to the female bathroom. Heidi did a final headcount and noticed she was one person short “Y/N I seem to have lost someone” She whispered “She’s in the bathroom being sick. She’s pregnant” Y/N replied and Heidi’s face paled “Wait five minutes, then please escort her out the castle. Make some excuse for me otherwise I’m in big trouble” “Leave it with me Heidi. I had no intention of letting her re-join the ‘tour’ as it would’ve gotten you into trouble” Y/N said with a smile “You are a star Y/N, truly” Heidi gave her a grateful smile “I owe you one” She called over her shoulder and continued on her way with the tour group to the throne room. Y/N was pleased as the young lady got to keep her life and Heidi didn’t get into trouble for bringing a pregnant lady on the tour.
Day six of Y/N covering reception for Gianna was more eventful than anyone could have imagined. Demetri and Felix were in the training room with the lower and transitory guards carrying out the regular training session. Jane, Alec and Santiago were on duty in the throne room with the Kings. Y/N heard a commotion and got up from the front desk to look and saw some of the transitory guards fighting at the entrance to the castle, humans were beginning to pay attention which worried Y/N, especially as it was sunny outside.
Y/N made her way to the throne room and knocked on the door once and they opened from the inside “Sorry to interrupt but…” “Y/N you know you aren’t meant to interrupt” Aro cut her off “Yes Aro, and I apologise but some of the guards are fighting at the castle entrance and humans are gathering to watch and it’s sunny outside” She replied quickly, hoping she wouldn’t be punished as Gianna’s predecessors were. “Santiago, Josh please go and deal with the guards at the entrance. Y/N you can return to reception” Aro said with a smile “Thank you Aro” She smiled and bowed her head before leaving the throne room quickly.
“Y/N needs to be punished” Caius says to his brothers “Really brother? Do you really think it’s necessary?” Aro asked “She did interrupt despite knowing she shouldn’t” Caius replied “She came to warn us of a possible exposure threat and she did knock first” Marcus defended her actions “Still rules are rules brother. If Gianna had interrupted instead of Y/N we would’ve punished her. We cannot play favourites just because she’s Demetri’s mate even if she is helping out this week” Caius reasons “Ok then. I’ll take care of her punishment” Marcus says as he gets up from his throne “You? You’re going to punish her?” Caius asked smirking “Yes, Demetri is my bodyguard and Y/N is his mate. Therefore, I will handle this situation” He replied and left the throne room.
“Demetri won’t be happy” Alec muttered low to Jane so only she could hear “My shift has finished so I’ll go tell him. He’ll want to know about Y/N” Jane whispered back.
Marcus went to reception to see Y/N “Hello, my dear. I need you to come with me please” “Of course Marcus, am I in trouble?” She replied “I’ll explain soon enough” He said and held his arm out for her to take. He led her to one of the guest rooms in the South Wing. Once inside he closes the door and explains the situation they are now in. “Caius has asked that you be punished for the interruption” Marcus started softly “But I knocked first and I thought you’d want to know about a possible exposure risk, especially as it involves your guards” She replied “I know my dear and I pointed that out to him but he was adamant a punishment was needed. I told my brothers I would deal with your punishment as Demetri is my bodyguard and you are his mate” “O-ok. Thank you. Does Demetri know?” She asked “Jane has finished her shift and I’m sure she’ll inform him of what has occurred” He replied and she nodded.
“Please can make your way over to the bed?” Marcus asked and she did as he asked. She stood at the end of the bed and felt Marcus come to stand beside her. “Please lean over the bed with your arms out” She did as she was instructed and felt his cold hands wrap something silky around her wrists “I’m tying you to the bed so you don’t move during the punishment you’re going to receive” He said low as he reached over her and gently placed a silk scarf into her mouth and secured it at the back of her head “This is to muffle your cries. Although, I ask that you don’t resist or cry out as Demetri is likely to hear and the punishment will start over if it’s interrupted for anything but an emergency. Also, you must keep your eyes closed throughout. Understand?” “Yes Marcus” Her reply coming out muffled.
There was a knock at the door “I won’t be a minute” He told her and opened the door to see Demetri, a confused and slightly angry Demetri. He stepped into the corridor and shut the door. “Calm yourself, my dear boy. No real harm is to become her” He advised “Jane told me what happened and whilst I agree she shouldn’t have disturbed you, she only did it to save us from being exposed by our guards” Demetri replied, worry clear in his ruby eyes “I know that and that is why I decided on her punishment and not Caius…” “What is her punishment?” Demetri interrupted “She is to be paddled 40 times” Marcus replied “What? Why?” “Well I heard Y/N talking with Gianna recently about certain things and well Gianna’s been spanked by an ex in the past for ‘misbehaving’” Marcus replied and Demetri’s mouth fell open a little “So you thought Y/N should be paddled for interrupting you?” “Yes, I do. Unless you’d prefer I take a leaf out of Caius’ book?” Demetri shook his head and Marcus smiled “Here” Marcus says and hands Demetri the small black paddle “You want me to do it?” He asked surprised “If you’d rather me do it…” He trailed off and held his hand out “No, no I’ll do it” Demetri replied and went to enter the room, only Marcus stopped him “She thinks I am going to hand out the punishment and I didn’t correct her. Also, I never said you had to hit her hard, just that it has to be 40 times” Demetri nodded in understanding “Thank you master” He bowed his head “Of course my boy. Do you really think I would harm her or order you to do so” Demetri shook his head “Exactly, once you’re done take her to your room and spend the afternoon together.” Marcus turned and walked away.
Demetri entered the room and locked the door, he turned and saw Y/N bent over the end of the bed and secured in place by silk scarfs; he felt himself harden a little ‘No, this is punishment not pleasure’ he tells himself as he makes his way over to the bed. He doesn’t say anything just lifts her dress up to her waist so her lacy covered ass is on display ‘Gods this isn’t fair. She’s wearing the blue set I love’ he thought to himself. He counts to three mentally before bringing the paddle into contact with her ass softly.
‘Is that a practice one?’ Y/N thought to herself as the paddle hit her ass softly; the answer came to her rather quickly when the next few paddles to her ass were just as soft ‘Marcus must be being gentle cause I’m human and Dem’s mate’ she thought to herself as the paddle continues to hit her softly. ‘twenty-five’ Demetri counts in his head. ‘wonder what Dem will think when he finds out Marcus paddled my ass’ her thoughts going to her mate and his reaction. Demetri continues to hit her softly as his minds wonders too ‘I think next time I spank her it’ll be a little harder and with my hand, just to see what effect it has on her in a different setting.’ Y/N feels confused as this doesn’t seem like a punishment Caius would approve of but she wasn’t going to complain. ‘forty’ Demetri places the paddle on the bed and unties her wrists and places a kiss to each one; a soft gasp escapes her lips and he smirks “It’s just me darling” He says low in her ear as he removes the scarf from her mouth “Dem” She breathed and he helped her up and held her to him “I’m here” He kisses the top of the head “Did you…” “Marcus let me carry out your punishment” He cut her off “I’m sorry. I only…” “Don’t worry about it. Marcus and I have spoken and agreed your actions were for the right reasons, this was just to satisfy Caius’ request.”
He took her hand in his and they made their back to their shared room, once inside he locked the door “How are you feeling?” “I’m ok but next time the dumbass guards risk exposure, I’m going to ignore it” She replies and he nods as he pulls her into him capturing her lips in a passionate kiss. He pulls away his eyes locked on hers, his burning in his need for her. He kisses her roughly, his hands moving to her ass and he gives it a squeeze before lifting her up, her legs wrapping around his waist. “Good girl” He says low and she gives him a sultry smile.
He placed her gently on the bed, one hand running up her thigh coming to rest on her lace covered hip. He kissed along her jawline making his way to her ear and nipped it gently, before placing a kiss below and leaving a trail of kisses down her neck, his hand stroking her through her lace covered panties “Hey, I’m not that easy Dem, take your time…play me like a violin” She says low in his ear and he growls before replying “Play your cards right and I may snap your G string” He gave a wink and continued to kiss and nip at her skin.
He pulled away long enough to remove her dress and his shirt and trousers before capturing her lips with his. She bit his lip and he opened his mouth allowing her to slip her tongue inside, their tongues moving against each other as soft moans fill the room.
“You’re lucky I love this blue lace set you’re wearing or I’d be ripping it to shreds” He says as removes her bra and panties before settling himself between her thighs, his mouth closing around her clit and sucking harshly, flicking the bud with his tongue. Soft gasps fill the air and she feels his fingers dance against her skin, he growls as the scent of her arousal fills his nose, the sound vibrating against her clit, her arousal building and a soft whimper leaves her lips.
He moves up the bed, placing one hand to her cheek and kisses her lips softly as he enters her slowly, stilling for a moment “So warm and wet just for me” He pulls out of her a little before re-entering her slowly “Ahh Dem” He moves in and out of her over and over filling her deeply with every thrust; hitting that sweet spot and she met him thrust for thrust “Ahh Y/N” He breathed against her skin, she felt his mouth on her breast, kissing and sucking her skin leaving a mark. He continued to move within her as he took a nipple into his mouth sucking it and flicking it with his tongue. Her fingers carded through his hair and she gave it a tug; a growl escaped him before he gently nipped her breast.
He could feel his release was near but held off as he was determined for her to finish first, he needed to claim her, finally mark her as his. He kissed her neck and then sank his fangs into her skin, a light gasp left her lips as she felt him bite her. Her orgasm hit her at that moment, her eyes closing and stars flittered behind her eyelids. He continued to drink her blood, drawing out her orgasm as he released himself deep inside her. He pulled his teeth away from her neck, licking the wound closed; leaving a bite mark on her skin that would show everyone that she belonged to him.
Y/N could feel that Demetri was still hard inside her despite him climaxing moments ago “Dem, you’re still hard” She said low “It’s a vampire thing, we can go for multiple rounds without tiring” He replied and winked at her “So, there’ll be a round two then?” She asked before biting her bottom lip and looking at him through her lashes. “Definitely sweetheart” He replied as he began thrusting in and out of her again “I could stay here and make love to you all day” He said looking into her eyes and gave her a quick kiss “I do have the afternoon off…” He trailed off and let his hand slowly move down her body, his fingers lightly brushing her folds. “As fun as that sounds, I’m human and I don’t think I could keep up with you” She replied low “I like a challenge darling. Let’s see how many rounds you can keep up with me for. Mmm?” He asked, his eyes darkened by lust, before capturing her lips with his, both of them moaning into the kiss.
“Ok, but we have to try different positions. Switch it up a little” She replied, taking her bottom lip between her teeth, she felt him twitch inside her “Deal. Where would you like round two?” “On the bed but I’m on top” He smiled and rolled them over “Do with me as you will” He smiled at her, she smiled back before lifting nearly all the way off of him only to sink back down on him hard “Cazzo” He breathed out and she chuckled “That good huh?” She lifted off of him again “You had a great teacher” He smirked at her as she lowered herself back down on him, his hands going to her hips “Uh uh. You gave me control sweetheart” She circled her hips over his and he growled, his hands moving to grip the bedsheets “Good boy” She praised low and he chuckled. She leant forward to kiss him as she grinded against him and felt him hit a new spot inside her, she repeated this action as she left a trail of open-mouthed kisses along his jaw and down his neck. “Ah Y/N.” She continued to move her hips over his and he felt her teeth graze his skin where his neck meets his shoulder before she sucked on the skin there eliciting a purr from him. He was smiling as he watched her rise and lower herself on his hardened length, her hips grinding against his to get the friction she needs as she nears her orgasm, “I’m so close” He breathed out “Me too” She smiled and sped up her movements, her release followed shortly after; her hips continuing to move over his and she feels him twitch inside her, his cold seed filling her once more. His eyes were closed tight as he came, his mouth open; a soft gasp escaping his lips as his grip on the sheets tightened. “Gods, you’re amazing” He praises her and sits up to hold her close, pressing a kiss to her temple “Like you said, I had a great teacher” She whispered and he smiled against her skin.
“Round three” He breathed against her ear “Your choice” She replied and he thought for a moment “Any chance of a blow job…whilst I think of our next position?” He asked “Only if you say please…Mr Volturi” He growled and thrusted up into her “Dem” She cried out “Any chance of a blow job please?” “Of course Mr Volturi” She climbed off him and moved over to sofa “Coming then?” She beckoned him with a wave of her fingers. He went to sit on the sofa when she placed her hand on his stomach “You stay standing” She sat down on the sofa and wasted no time in taking him into her mouth; his head fell back instantly, loving the way her warm mouth felt around his cock “Oh gods” Her hands moved to his ass and gave it a squeeze as she took him further into her mouth, the tip of his cock hitting the back of her throat. She moaned around his cock; one of his hands moved to the back of her head, his fingers grabbing a hand full of hair. She ran her tongue along the underside of his cock, swirling it around the tip, licking up some of the pre-cum that had leaked out. He growled low as he felt a warm hand cup his balls, massaging them and he tugged on her hair and thrusted his hips forward ensuring he hit the back of her throat and she moaned around him. She hollowed her cheeks as she continued to suck him off and massaging his balls “Such a good girl” He praised her as she run her teeth along him and he twitched inside her mouth. He tugged on her hair and she stopped moving her head up and down his cock, allowing him to fuck her mouth, he moved his hips forward a few times ensuring he hit the back of her throat each time. He felt her tap his thigh and he stopped moving his hips, giving control back to her. She sucked and licked his cock a few more times before she ran her teeth over his length again and he emptied himself down the back of her throat, her swallowing everything he gave her. She licked him clean before pulling away and looking up at him. He knelt down before her and kissed her, tasting himself on her tongue. “I love you Y/N” “I love you too. Next position then?”
He took her hand and led her to his desk and bent her over it; and he entered her easily from behind, one hand wrapping around her throat applying a little pressure “If you don’t like this or you want to me stop, let me know” She nodded in response as the pressure on her throat increased a little. He thrusted in and out her setting a fast and rough pace “Demi” She breathed out and he leant over her burying his head in the crook of her neck, slipping inside her deeper as he continues to thrust inside her, his other hand moving down to play with her clit as he applies a little more pressure to her throat “You’re doing beautifully mi amore” He felt her walls flutter around him and he sped up his pace, edging them closer to their releases; the warmth of her release coaxing his own to follow. He released his hold on her throat and placed a kiss to her neck as he pulled out of her, she turned to face him smiling. One hand going to the back of his head and she pulled down for a passionate kiss.
“Round four is your choice darling” “Well, Mr Volturi before round four I’d like you to get on your knees and return the favour. Please” He smiled wide “Anything for you.” Demetri sat her on his desk and lowered himself to his knees in front of her and buried his head between her thighs, inhaled slightly taking in the scent of her arousal and growled low. He looked up at her to see her looking down at him, his ruby eyes had darkened further due to his continued arousal. He gently lifted one leg over his shoulder before lowering his head and sucking on her clit, flicking the bundle of nerves with his tongue. She leaned back slightly and gripped the edge of his desk as he placed a hand on her stomach keeping her in place before he gently pushed her other leg away from him, giving him better access to where she needed him most. He continuing to suck and flick her clit with his tongue, her soft moans being the only sound in the room. He smiled against her knowing he was the only one who could elicit that reaction from her. He moved his head lower and she felt his tongue enter her, she gasped and one of her hands moved to his head and she threaded her fingers through his hair before tugging on the strands, eliciting a growl from him. She felt his growl vibrate against her “Dem” She breathed out, he growled again and she felt a knot form inside her; she tried moving her hips to get the friction she craved but his hand still held her in place. He withdrew his tongue from inside her and closed his mouth back around her clit, sucking harsher than before; his tongue flicking her bud. She felt him slip two fingers inside her, curling and uncurling them so they brushed her inner walls a few times. He uncurled his fingers and moved them deeper inside her, hitting her sweet spot; his fingers and tongue working together to bring her to climax. “Ahh…Dem” She breathed out as she came hard, her eyelids half closed. He withdrew his fingers and put them into his mouth “Mmm. I love the taste of you baby” He smiled looking up at her through his lashes “I love you Demi” “I love you too.”
He stood up and surprised her when he lifted her over his shoulder and made his way to their walk-in closet and set her down on her feet before he pinned her against the wall. He captured her lips with his in a heated kiss and nipped at her bottom lip and she whimpered allowing him to slip his tongue inside her mouth and dominate the kiss. He lifted her up into his arms, her legs wrapping around his waist and she could feel his cold hard length pressing against her entrance and with one slow thrust he entered her easily “Fuck…baby” He growled in her ear, he didn’t give her time to adjust to him, he just began to thrust in and out of her at a steady pace; her legs closed tighter around his waist and she grinded against him; he slid in deeper hitting that sweet spot inside “Oh yes” She cried out, her nails scratching lightly across his back and he growled and thrusted up into her harder. He kissed and sucked his way up and down her neck, nibbling her earlobe and she felt him smile against her neck with each moan of pleasure he coaxed from her. His thrusts sped up chasing his release as he felt her walls flutter around his cock; he bit her neck for the second time that afternoon and took a few gulps of her blood and she screamed out in pleasure as her orgasm hit her hard, stars dancing behind her eyes. The warmth of her release pulled him over the edge and he emptied himself inside her; continuing to move inside her with slow, long stokes as they rode out their highs together. He licked the wound closed and kissed his bite mark, he captured her lips in a slow sensuous kiss, she opened her mouth to him and he slipped his tongue inside, their togues moving in sync with one another.
“I love how you feel inside me” She whispered when he pulled back to allow her to breathe “I love how warm you feel wrapped around me” He replied before kissing her again. He walked backwards to the loveseat in the corner and sat down with her still in his arms, staying buried inside her for a little longer. He wrapped his arms around her holding her to his chest as she wrapped hers around him. She buried her head into his neck as he laid his on her shoulder, both enjoying their after-sex cuddle.
Y/N was totally exhausted once Demetri had finally finished making love to her and he noticed her heartrate and breathing had slowed. She was supersensitive now and knew she was likely to be a little sore in the morning but didn’t mind as she had enjoyed every minute of being with her mate.
He carried her to the bathroom and set her down on the counter and run a sink full of water using some of her favourite bubble bath and washed her gently with a warm cloth. He then cleaned himself up before carrying her over to their bed, placing her gently beneath the duvet. He crawled in beside her and pulled her into his arms once again and held her as she fell asleep, breathing in her scent. He smiled to himself as he thought about the sexy afternoon they had just spent together, impressed that she had kept up with him for six rounds of amazing sex. ‘my amazing little human’ he thought and tightened his hold her, placing a kiss to her hair “I love you darling” He whispered and closed his eyes, resting beside his mate.
Writing thoughts - uh September apparently
I haven’t rambled about my writing in ages here. I don’t remember when I stopped doing the monthly update, probably when I had nothing interesting to say.
It sure has been a weird year productivity-wise (and otherwise too). I feel like I’ve been in a fog since... I can’t even remember when at this point. I actually didn’t write or draw anything for a couple months this summer, I just didn’t have any creativity left in me I guess, and no real hyperfixation to keep me doing. I wanted to write some original projects, but that didn’t happen.
Then I fell into a new fandom (The Witcher) and I’m currently milking that hyperfixation for all it’s worth because it’s allowed me to go back to writing and drawing. I really appreciate being in a fandom where there’s a lot of engagement and most of it isn’t minors, it’s been a while.
As always I’m mostly just sorting out my own thoughts here, but if you want to know what’s coming up in terms of fics, this is the part you want to read: WIP headcount.
- Holding Angels (Shadowhunters): technically it’s not a WIP because it’s finished, but I’ll start posting it really soon. It has 10 chapter, it’s heavy Alec angst with politics, Nephilim religion, angels, BAMF Magnus & Izzy.
- Singer Street (original): ...I opened the file today. For the first time in two months. I need to readjust my mind to thinking about something else than the new hyperfixation, but I’ll get there.
- Eyes on the Horizon (original, sort of): I reread all of it a while ago and decided I needed to finish the first draft before reworking the plot completely, but I’m not sure that’s the best course of action anymore. I need to figure out what story I’m trying to tell exactly.
- left you behind just standing there (Witcher): currently 11k and growing. It’s a season 2 canon divergence where an adult Ciri goes seeking Jaskier, who disappeared in Oxenfurt six years ago. She finds him running an inn with a powerless Yennefer, raising a little girl and still haunted by the torture he went through at the hands of Rience.
- untitled mute!Jaskier AU (Witcher): 13k and growing. Essentially follows the show, but Jaskier never got his voice back after the djinn.
- untitled sequel to remember me I sing (Witcher): I’m trying to keep it to a decent length (aka under 5k) but we’ll see. Mostly Jaskier whump with platonic Geraskefer.
I finally posted the epilogue to our hands clasped so tight (RNM). I’m honestly a bit disappointed by the reception but hey, I’m not even in the fandom anymore, I don’t know why I’m complaining. Anyway it was a story that meant a lot of me for a show that really doesn’t anymore, and I’m really glad it’s complete.
I’m at the stage of the hyperfixation where I’m getting 50 ideas per day, which isn’t conductive to doing anything else (including work) but at least I’m having fun. I’d missed that.
I Don’t Want to Say I (I Want to Say We)
( @shadowhunterbingo square: Arranged Marriage) (Read on AO3)
“What do you mean we don’t count?” Alec demands, voice rising to a near shout. Andrew keeps his expression as professionally neutral as possible at the outburst. It’s a closed meeting, and outside of the two Council members who requested it, the only person besides Alec is Andrew. This isn’t uncommon for them - Alec often brings someone else to meetings that could just as easily be entirely private, if only so he has a friendly face in his corner when dealing with some of the more antagonistic Council members. Andrew has been that ‘someone else’ for quite a few meetings that Izzy or Jace couldn’t make it to.
“Your marriage is hardly a sacrifice made in good faith,” Blackridge points out. “The warlocks feel the same. With how quickly - and willingly - Bane left with you for Alicante, they aren’t positive he won’t side more with you than his own people. He’s done it before. And so have you for him.”
“Everyone knows your allegiance is more to each other than each other’s people,” Lydia Branwell reluctantly adds. Andrew can tell that she doesn’t want to be here, and probably is only because the Council thought the news coming from her might soften the blow, given her history and connection with Alec. “Both sides want a newly arranged marriage to seal the agreement. Something purely symbolic.”
Andrew watches Alec silently struggle to keep his expression impassive, but he knows Alec well enough to catch the way his hands clench into fists at his side, nails digging into his palms as he considers the orders he’s being given. Andrew is impressed to hear Alec’s voice is almost even when he finally speaks.
“I can’t ask anyone to do that,” Alec says finally, shaking his head.
“You won’t be asking them, you’ll be ordering them. This isn’t a debate, Lightwood,” Blackridge tells him, with a smirk. “Trust me, I doubt Rey is any happier about being on the other end of this.”
Andrew, who’s remained otherwise silent this entire meeting, can’t help but react now. His eyes widen for a moment in surprise, gaze flicking from Alec to Blackridge in an immediate shift of interest. “Lo-- Mr. Rey is choosing the warlock?”
Blackridge laughs. “No, Mr. Rey is the warlock. The warlock council from the Spiral Labyrinth is likely informing him as we speak.”
Andrew’s blood turns cold. Lorenzo. Lorenzo is the other end of the arranged marriage.
A lot of thoughts go through Andrew’s head at that moment, but he can’t say any of them because no one knows about the relationship he’s had with Lorenzo for the past six months. A relationship Andrew almost could’ve pretended wasn’t that big of a deal if it wasn’t for the violent churn in his stomach at the thought of seeing Lorenzo with anyone else, or the sinking weight in his chest at the idea of losing him now, even if it was over something entirely out of their control.
No, that somehow only makes it worse.
“If you can’t do it, someone else will do it for you,” Blackridge adds to Alec, entirely unaware of the internal crisis Andrew’s having, suddenly realizing that Alec being in control of this situation is the only way Andrew has a chance of coming out of this with his heart intact.
“He can do it,” Andrew says suddenly, drawing three sets of surprised eyes in his direction.
“Andrew, I can’t-”
“You can do it,” Andrew repeats pointedly, hoping his tone and the pleading look in his eyes are enough to convey to Alec that he’s not just spouting generic ‘you got this, buddy!’ reassurances.
Alec looks him over curiously, but Andrew doesn’t risk being more insistent than he already was, not wanting to look suspicious.
“Alright. I’ll choose someone,” Alec agrees slowly. Andrew feels his shoulders sag in visible relief.
“You have three days, Lightwood. Or we’re stepping in,” Blackridge says, and a minute later he and Lydia are gone from the room.
Once they’re definitely alone again, Alec turns to Andrew.
“You gonna tell me what that was about?” Alec asks him.
Andrew hesitates. What is his plan? To stall in the hopes of Lorenzo refusing on his end? To make sure he can at least get a say in who is about to step in and ruin the best thing that’s happened to him in years? Or to be bold enough to put himself in a position he isn’t sure he’s ready for, in a declaration he is equally unsure Lorenzo will appreciate, or even agree to?
“I volunteer,” Andrew says before he can change his mind.
“You what?” Alec nearly chokes on the words.
“I volunteer. I’ll marry Lorenzo,” Andrew repeats.
“No. You don’t deserve that - no one deserves this,” Alec shakes his head. “I didn’t walk out of my own political marriage just to force one on someone else.”
“You aren’t forcing me. It’s fine, Alec. I’ll do it.” Andrew, Raziel help him, still can’t bring himself to admit why. He isn’t sure if it’s to protect Lorenzo and honor their agreement to not let anyone find out about their secret relationship, or because he’s afraid that admitting it wouldn’t be a true ‘sacrifice’ would force Alec to choose someone else. No matter the reason, he hesitates, guarding the truth even now.
Alec looks him over closely.
“You keep calling him Lorenzo,” Alec observes cautiously. “Are the two of you…?”
“Quite close already, Sir. Yes,” Andrew confirms without saying the word boyfriend. He knows he can trust Alec, but he also knows that Alec is bound, to a certain extent, to following orders. The less he knows the more plausible deniability he has later if questioned on his choice.
If he chooses Andrew at all.
“I see,” Alec’s expression softens.
“I can’t let it be anyone else. Please, Alec, let me do this,” Andrew says, openly pleading now.
“I still don’t like it. Give me those three days to see what I can do. But if it has to be someone… you’re certain you want it to be you?”
Andrew nods. “Yes.”
Alec sighs. “Alright. Thank you, Andrew.”
It isn’t until they’re both back at the Institute and Andrew receives a ‘We need to talk’ text from Lorenzo that a thought occurs to him for the first time:
What if Lorenzo doesn’t want to marry him?
They’re dating, sure, and Andrew would like to think that there’s something there between them… but dating and marriage are two very different things. What if Lorenzo would prefer someone else? What if he liked Andrew for now but had no intention of keeping him around forever? They’re doing fine now, but what if this offer is too much? What if this breaks them?
Andrew is a mess of nerves the rest of the day, barely able to fill out basic reports without his mind wandering until his shift is finally over and he immediately makes his way to Lorenzo’s. He walks, hoping the fresh air will calm him and clear his head, but it does neither.
The anxiety must be written all over his face, because the moment he steps through the door Lorenzo takes one look at him and says, “You already know.”
Andrew nods.
“It’s ridiculous!” Lorenzo exclaims. “Do you know they had the audacity to tell me it wasn’t even a sacrifice for me!? ‘What’s a couple of decades?’, they said! As if-” he words break off then, surprisingly emotional. “As if losing the time I’d have with you wouldn’t be a sacrifice.”
Lorenzo thought he was losing him. Of course he did, Andrew realizes. Because he expects that the Shadowhunter chosen would be forced into it, the same as him. And maybe if anyone other than Alec were in charge, that would be the case.
“You don’t have to lose me, Ren,” Andrew starts, but Lorenzo cuts him off before he can finish.
“Damn right I don’t, because I’m not doing it. They can find another High Warlock if they have to.”
“Well,” Andrew says. “That would make the fact that I volunteered to be the Shadowhunter in the arrangement a bit awkward, then.”
Lorenzo, who’d been pacing back and forth in his barely contained frustration and anger, stops dead in his tracks. “What?”
“I was with Alec when they told him what was happening, and I… I volunteered. I couldn’t exactly stand there and listen to them discuss my boyfriend marrying someone else.”
“Andrew, I…” Lorenzo starts, but his words trail off. The silence that follows while Lorenzo processes the new information puts Andrew back on edge.
“If you don’t want to, that’s… well, I suppose it isn’t fine, but I’ll understand,” Andrew’s voice is quiet but at least it fills the silence. “We hadn’t really discussed our future that far before.”
“I don’t want you to marry me out of obligation,” Lorenzo points out.
“I’m not. For me, at least, it’s… well, if things kept going well that was always the endgame, wasn’t it? We’re just accelerating the timeline.”
Andrew can feel his heartbeat in his chest, the pulse points in his neck and wrists seeming to quicken with every passing second that he waits for Lorenzo to say something, anything, about whether or not he wants to marry him.
“You would really want to marry a warlock?” Lorenzo asks him, and the hint of disbelief behind the words guts Andrew. Lorenzo puts on a front so often that sometimes even he forgets how vulnerable his boyfriend can actually be.
“I would really want to marry you, Lorenzo,” Andrew corrects, taking a step toward Lorenzo to reach out his hands. He doesn’t take Lorenzo’s, however. Not yet. Andrew stops halfway to his boyfriend and waits.
For a moment he’s afraid Lorenzo isn’t going to move, but then he’s closing the space between them, ignoring Andrew’s outstretched hands to wrap his arms around Andrew’s waist and pull him flush against his body, lips meeting in a deep, emotional kiss.
When they finally part for air Andrew looks into Lorenzo’s eyes to see the faint shimmer of unshed tears there before he blinks them away, smiling.
“Is that a yes?” Andrew asks, not wanting to leave anything up to assumptions at this point.
“Yes,” Lorenzo confirms, nodding. “I want to marry you, too.”
Andrew beams. “This isn’t exactly how I imagined proposing. I don’t even have a ring,” he laughs.
Lorenzo smirks. “I could do something about that,” he says coyly. There’s a wave of golden yellow magic, and then two beautiful golden bands rest in his open palm.
“Of course you would have engagement bands just sitting around for anyone,” Andrew laughs.
“Not just anyone,” Lorenzo admits.
Oh. “Oh, Ren…”
“You weren’t the only one hoping maybe someday…” Lorenzo’s words trail off as he looks up at Andrew with a soft smile. “I just didn’t expect to need them so soon.”
With any last lingering doubts or hesitations gone from his mind, it’s Andrew who closes the space between them this time, knowing they’re going to be just fine.
To The Test | ao3.
That was one good thing about having a difficult teenage son. Magnus knew that Raphael would put any of his romantic partners right to the test, even if Magnus wished he wouldn't.
This is my ‘Single Parent’ square for @shadowhunterbingo.
Being a single father of two, Magnus found that it was surprisingly not the toddler that turned Magnus’ potential romantic partners away. There were of course those Magnus would go on a stray date with before finding out they didn’t like kids but Magnus didn’t want those people in his life anyway. It was the other pool of romantic partners, the ones that didn’t hate kids or the fact that Magnus had them, that Magnus had trouble with but again, it was not because of his chubby faced rambunctious toddler.
It was because of his teenager. His troubled, grumpy teenager who was exceptionally jealous whenever Magnus would start spending time with someone else but would not admit it. See, apparently some people found it odd that Magnus had adopted a fourteen year old when he’d only been twenty five himself and those few who were willing to give his unconventional family a chance ended up running away the moment that they actually met Raphael and Raphael did everything that he could to chase them away.
It was intimidating to meet your partner's kids. Magnus understood the anxiety but he especially understood it when it came to meeting Raphael because as much as Magnus loved his son, he went out of his way to make the experience as dreadful as possible.
Magnus had hardly been able to date anyone since adopting his kids. Now, Magnus wasn’t really complaining. He loved his kids and he understood that Raphael was scared of him leaving. He was scared of him getting close to anyone else and deciding that he’d rather be there instead of with their family, as if that would ever happen.
It’s why Magnus had gone so long without dating anyone. When he’d first adopted Raphael, he’d wanted to focus on his son anyway. The adoption process had not been smooth sailing for them and after they’d finally settled in a place where they felt like a real family together, Magnus had agreed to foster Max, who’d only been a few days old when he showed up on Magnus’ door step. Fostering turned into adopting and after a few years, that slow process was finally over and Magnus had his two sons and nothing else to worry about.
Except dating. Magnus hadn’t had much time for dating when Max was a baby either and now… well, now Magnus was more than a little deprived and he was finally at a point where he knew Raphael, beyond his fears and anxiety, understood that Magnus loved him even if he went out one night to go on a date.
That didn’t quite mean that Raphael was thrilled when Magnus continued to go out on dates with one man, who he then intended to introduce to his children. Going out to have fun was one thing but inviting a new person into their lives, someone that Raphael was threatened by, was completely different.
Needless to say, the first time Magnus invited Alec over for dinner, he was a little nervous about how it would go. Raphael was already not thrilled about someone coming over, someone who Magnus clearly had deemed important enough to be brought over in general. Magnus hadn’t liked someone that much in a very long time and the weight of that alone he could tell already had Raphael on edge, which didn’t set the night up to go well.
It didn’t help that Alec himself was already nervous to meet Magnus’ kids. Magnus assured Alec that Max would love him but Max loved everyone. Max loved meeting new people, regardless of who they were. The same could not be said about Magnus’ teenager but if they could get through the dinner without Raphael deciding he absolutely hated Alec, Magnus would consider it a success. They’d work on Raphael liking Alec later. Tolerating was the first step and if they could get there, Magnus could sleep easy at night knowing that Alec and his child might someday get along.
Though, Raphael had already seemed to form an opinion on Alec even before he stepped foot in their house. Raphael had asked how old Alec was and frowned when Magnus had informed him that Alec was a couple of years younger than him. Raphael asked if Alec had kids and then frowned even harder when Magnus said no.
“So, why does he want to date an older man with kids?” Raphael had snapped finally, a question that Magnus didn’t really have an answer for. Most weren’t willing to go on a date with Magnus, after they learned he had kids, especially people who were younger than him. Young people were normally looking for fun, not someone already tied down with children, especially an older child who they had to work harder to get along with than they would a baby.
“Alec likes kids,” Magnus had responded finally but Raphael didn’t seem too pleased with that answer.
“So, why doesn’t he go get his own before he tries to date someone?” Raphael had quipped back. When Magnus stammered to respond, his expression shifted into an unamused smirk, “See, he obviously doesn’t like kids that much. He likes you.”
“He likes me and he likes kids, otherwise he wouldn’t like me that much, would he?” Magnus responded.
“Unless he thinks he can just ignore us until he gets you in bed.”
Magnus held back a sigh and then, he looked up at his son mildly. “He doesn’t think he can do that. He’s coming to meet you because I like him and because you and your brother are the most important part of my life. If he thought he could ignore you, he wouldn’t have agreed to come over for dinner.”
At that, Raphael pressed his lips but didn’t say anything more. Magnus could tell he hadn’t quite convinced his son of Alec’s intentions but Magnus didn’t imagine he would no matter what he said.
“You don’t have to like him,” Magnus said at last. “-but I’d appreciate it if you tried not to be rude.”
Raphael’s gaze tightened into a small glare but he said nothing.
“I think you’ll like him, if you give him a chance,” Magnus continued.
Raphael stared at him for another moment before he rolled his eyes and rose to his feet. “We’ll see,” he murmured before he was walking down the hallway to disappear into his room. Max instantly bounded out of his own room as he saw Raphael pass, chasing Raphael to see what his brother was doing.
Magnus sighed and pulled out his phone to send Alec yet another text about how good of a kid Raphael was and how he probably wouldn’t like Alec but it wasn’t Alec’s fault. After he sent it, Magnus sighed and threw his head back.
He didn’t understand how Alec was still willing to come over.
.
Magnus thought cooking would be a bit too much for their first dinner together. There was no need to put more on the table that could go horribly wrong tonight. Magnus decided to order take out instead. That way, Magnus didn’t have to cook and Alec didn’t have to come over and cook. Magnus would already have the food on the way. Alec would come over. They’d do introductions. The food would get there. They’d all eat together and depending on how horrible the evening went, Alec would say his goodbyes and leave, so Magnus could then send him a rambled text about how sorry he was and how he knew he wasn’t exactly an easy person to be dating.
He might do some damage control with Raphael as well and hopefully reassure him that he was an irreplaceable part of Magnus’ life and that even if he was dating someone, that didn’t mean he was leaving Raphael behind.
Then, maybe someday they’d try dinner again or maybe, Magnus would just continue to see Alec outside of the house, never introducing him to his kids again and hoping that Alec never wanted them to deepen their relationship in any way that would involve Alec becoming a big enough part of his life to have to meet his children for a second time.
One option seemed far easier than the other but Magnus didn’t know many people who would be okay not being involved with Magnus’ home life at all. Alec swore up and down that he’d be patient and he understood Magnus’ son was going to have issues with his presence but Magnus didn’t think Alec really understood how strong willed Raphael could be.
Most didn’t, until they met him. Magnus wondered if it was too late to cancel the dinner all together and then, he decided that it was.
.
Magnus had reservations about the entire dinner and that was before Alec showed up late. Now, it wasn’t exactly Alec’s fault. There had been a car accident on the highway and Alec had been stuck in traffic for nearly an hour. Alec felt horrible about it, if the countless text messages he sent Magnus were anything to go by but that also didn’t mean Raphael was that understanding about the whole thing.
With the food already growing cold on the table, Raphael had settled for staring at Magnus, his unamused expression saying everything his words didn’t need to. Then, when he didn’t seem happy with simply glaring and he’d finally spoken. “He seems really dedicated,” Raphael commented mildly.
Magnus held back the eye roll. “It’s not his fault. He can’t control the traffic.”
“Or he’s just busy with something else and he lied,” Raphael snapped back instantly.
“He’s not lying. He’s in traffic and he’s doing his best to get here,” Magnus insisted.
“Max is going to starve to death before he makes it.”
At that, Magnus did roll his eyes. “Max ate dinosaur chicken nuggets not even two hours ago. I don’t think he’s quite famished yet.”
Raphael fell silent for a moment before quietly speaking, suddenly sounding deeply offended, “I didn’t get dinosaur chicken nuggets.”
“You were asleep,” Magnus explained instantly, before his son could go on about how neglectful he was as a father for not asking if he wanted food when his brother ate. “Maybe, if you slept at a reasonable time and woke up in the morning with us, I could offer you dinosaur chicken nuggets with your brother.”
Raphael scoffed. “Why? If I stayed up later last night I’d still be asleep and I wouldn’t have to sit here and wait for your boyfriend to finally decide to show up.”
“He’s not my boyfriend,” Magnus murmured, pulling out his phone to see another text from Alec, informing him that he was finally turning off the highway.
“Oh, so you introduce us to every man you meet?”
Magnus shoved his phone back into his pocket and looked up to Raphael yet again. “He’s not my boyfriend until you like him,” he said before he could really think through that sentence. It was true. He wouldn’t date someone his son didn’t like but that didn’t quite mean Magnus had to inform him of that.
“Then you’ll never date someone again,” Raphael informed him.
Magnus left out a soft sigh. “We’ll see,” he said, echoing Raphael’s bleak words from before.
.
Alec finally arrived twenty minutes later. When Magnus opened the door, Alec appeared on the other side, out of breath and clearly having sprinted from his car all the way up the steps to Magnus’ loft.
“I’m sorry,” Alec rushed out instantly.
Magnus waved him off, ushering him inside instead. “It’s fine,” Magnus murmured, hoping Alec would leave his apologies at the door before Raphael could hear them and latch onto the weakness. “Come in.”
Magnus closed the door behind Alec, reaching to take his jacket as Alec shrugged it off. Alec turned to look at him as Magnus hung it up. For a moment, they stared at each other, a frantic air hovering between them in a way that had never happened before. Normally when they both met, things were easy between them. Magnus relaxed in Alec’s presence like they were meant to be together but here, Magnus met Alec’s wide eyes with an equally unnerved look of his own.
Magnus wanted this to go well. Alec wanted this to go well and yet, Magnus knew it would not and he was trying to be okay with that. Raphael was going to resist anyone Magnus brought into their lives. It had nothing to do with Alec himself and they’d already had that conversation before Alec had come.
But they both wanted it to go well anyway, even though it wouldn’t. Magnus wished he had managed to be more okay with that fact.
“Let’s go sit,” Magnus said finally.
Alec nodded and turned to follow Magnus as Magnus led him into the dinning room, where Max was happily babbling to Raphael as Raphael sat with his arms crossed. He’d been smiling a second before they walked in. Magnus could tell by the way his face changed. He’d been happily talking to Max but now, his face hardened. He sat stone faced as he watched them both walk in.
Magnus gestured to Alec. From the corner of his eye, Magnus saw Alec raise a hand to wave to them both. “This is Alec,” Magnus said, as if Raphael hadn’t heard Alec’s name a million times by now. Raphael knew who Alec was. That’s why he was glaring in his direction.
“Hi,” Alec rushed out. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Raphael-” Alec’s eyes darted over to Max, who was staring with wide eyed interest at the new stranger. “-and that must be Max.”
Magnus could hear that Alec was nervous. That wasn’t great and when Raphael heard it, his expression only tightened and became a touch angrier. He didn’t seem to appreciate Alec taking an interest in his brother. Raphael had always been protective. “Hi,” Raphael managed to ground out finally.
Magnus shot him a grateful smile. Saying hello was a good first step. “Sit, Alec-” Magnus said as he gestured to the table.
Magnus sat next to Max and Alec came to sit next to Magnus, thankfully leaving the seat next to Raphael empty. Magnus was pretty sure Raphael would have tried to stab Alec with his fork if he dared to sit next to him.
“The food looks good,” Alec said politely as Magnus reached for the dishes and started to plate some for Max and then himself.
“It was better a half an hour ago when it was warm,” Raphael murmured as he reached for the dish in Magnus’ hands.
Alec paled slightly. “I know, it probably was. I got stuck in traffic-”
Raphael cut Alec off before he could go on with his explanation. “I heard.”
Magnus reached for the plate again before he handed it to Alec. Alec seemed thankful to take it and have something to do with his hands.
“Alec’s here now,” Magnus said, smiling tightly across at his son. “That’s all that matters.”
Raphael said nothing to that and he stayed silent as Magnus and Alec started talking about Max and his drawings on the refrigerator. Max babbled happily as he reached for his noodles with his bare hands, chomping as he managed to get one into his hand. Every few minutes, Magnus or Raphael would stick their fork out and offer Max a bite of their own noodles, to make sure he was actually eating and not just playing with the food in his dish.
Raphael seemed more than happy to face away from Alec, focusing on his brother as if he failed to look over to Alec once during the meal, he would just vanish. That was better than being openly antagonistic, so Magnus would take the pointed silence without comment. If Raphael would let them have a few meals where Raphael ignored Alec, at least that was something. Maybe someday, Raphael would look at him and talk but Magnus didn’t want to get too far ahead of himself. The silence was enough for now and it remained for nearly the entire meal.
Magnus tried to engage Raphael a couple of times. He asked Raphael about an essay he was working on for school, prompting him to explain what it was about. When Raphael didn’t, Magnus explained instead.
Almost forty five minutes later, they were done eating and Max was covered in his food. Magnus thought it was good for Max to explore food by himself but that also meant that every single meal ended with his son looking like a disaster.
Magnus rose to his feet, reaching to pull his gooey child into his arms. “I’m going to go clean him up. I’ll be right back. Raphael, could you help clean up a little?”
Raphael nodded simply. He’d always been so polite about doing chores. Once when Max was merely a baby, Magnus had woken up to Raphael almost done cleaning the entire house. Raphael had brushed off Magnus’ thanks as if it was no big deal but Magnus knew it had been. Magnus loved his son. He was such a good kid. Magnus just wished other people could see that as easily as Magnus did.
Magnus left Raphael and Alec in the kitchen as he went to wash Max. He assumed that they’d pick up the dishes and sit in silence until Magnus returned but when Magnus did return twenty minutes later, he heard Alec and Raphael speaking. More specifically, he heard Raphael speaking.
Magnus paused in the hallway, holding Max a little closer as he listened. His toddler was uncharacteristically silent, as if he wanted to let Magnus listen too.
“He doesn’t date a lot of people,” Raphael was saying. “He just stays home with us and if he’s dating you, he must like you quite a lot but Magnus is stupid. He just trusts people and if you don’t actually care about him, then you leave and you don’t call him again. He doesn’t deserve to get strung along.”
There was a still moment in which no one spoke and Magnus did not dare to breathe. Then, Alec said, “Raphael, I really really care about your father. I like him a lot and I’m not going to hurt him. I’m here because I like him so much that I want you and your brother to like me too.”
“Just don’t hurt him,” Raphael repeated. “And we’re fine.”
“I won’t,” Alec promised.
Magnus stood in the hallway for a few more moments until Max started babbling. Magnus straightened up and then, he walked into the kitchen.
“Oh, look at how clean,” Magnus said, as if he hadn’t heard the conversation that had just happened. Magnus moved and pressed a kiss to Raphael’s head, something that made the teenager scrunch his face up and turn away, grimacing. Magnus kissed Raphael’s head sparingly because of that very reason but today, he couldn’t help but indulge himself. “Thank you,” he called as Raphael promptly fled the room, rolling his eyes in response.
Max squirmed as Raphael retreated. Magnus placed his toddler on the ground and he fled the room too, running after his brother as quickly as his little legs would carry him. Magnus met Alec’s eyes and smiled softly. “It went well,” he said.
Alec laughed and he sounded immensely relieved. He nodded. “Yeah. It went better than I expected. I don’t think... Raphael hated me?” He asked, looking anxious for reassurance that Raphael hadn’t informed Magnus that he absolutely despised Alec.
“No, he didn’t,” Magnus assured. Magnus thought about telling Alec that he’d heard what Raphael said but Alec didn’t tell him, so Magnus didn’t mention it. He wasn’t supposed to have heard it. It was a private moment between Alec and his son and Magnus would let them have it. Magnus liked that Alec didn’t tell him too. He liked that Alec didn’t tell him exactly what Raphael said the moment Raphael fled the room.
A lot of people would have but it took someone that respected Raphael to not say anything. Magnus needed someone that respected his children and he needed someone that was willing to put in the effort to get along with them, even when it was not easy.
That was one good thing about having Raphael. He would put Magnus’ partners to the test right away. There was no waiting for their true colors to come out. If they couldn’t handle Raphael from the beginning, then Magnus knew it wasn’t meant to be.
“Thank you, Alec.” Magnus murmured. “For coming and-” Magnus waved his hands vaguely. For trying with him. For caring so much. “For everything.”
Alec nodded. “Of course, Magnus.” Alec swayed towards him, asking hesitantly, “Could I-”
Magnus moved forward instantly, pressing his lips into Alec’s own. It was a blissful moment that Magnus was thankful to have, until Magnus heard Raphael’s voice from the doorway.
“Gross,” he snapped.
Max at his side burst into laughter, probably not understanding what his brother was referring to but finding it all very funny anyway. Max adored Raphael and anything he had to say was the funniest thing Max had ever heard.
Magnus pulled away from Alec, sighing softly.
They said their goodbyes shortly after and then, Alec left. Magnus wanted him to stay but they’d agreed on dinner alone and Magnus didn’t want to push whatever tentative agreement Raphael had made with Alec by asking him to stay. He’d come over again soon and maybe then, he could stay a little longer.
Magnus was surprised when that night Raphael asked when his boyfriend was coming back. Magnus informed Raphael that he wasn’t sure before he stopped and really thought about what Raphael had said. “I told you he wouldn’t be my boyfriend unless you liked him,” Magnus said after a long moment of silence.
Raphael did not respond but that let Magnus know what he needed to know anyway. Raphael had remembered what Magnus said and he’d said what he did on purpose.
Alec had gotten Raphael’s seal of approval, at least for now. One slight slip up and Magnus knew that Alec would lose it but Magnus didn’t think Alec would slip up. If he did, Magnus was sure his teenager was going to have a lot to say about it but for now, Raphael liked him.
That was so much more than Magnus had hoped for.
Summary: ‘This is Cerberus Falls,’ Magnus explains, a fond ache in his chest as his boyfriend’s eyes go wide in wonder. ‘One of the tallest waterfalls on the continent.’ He twists a hand, conjuring a grey basketball. ‘Hold this out with both hands, and drop it straight down.’ Magnus shows Alec a mundane kind of magic, and reveals a little about his past.
~oOo~
‘Babe,’ Alec asks as the portal closes, ‘where exactly are we?’
Magnus smiles, and pulls his parka a little closer about him. ‘British Columbia, Canada,’ he says, stepping forward and adjusting Alec’s scarf, too. ‘You’re still fairly new to portal travel, so I didn’t want to take you too far. It can be a little disorienting the first few times.’ Alec gives a teasing half-smile, the one that still gives rise to butterflies in Magnus’ stomach, even though it’s been months since he saw it for the first time at the Institute party. ‘”Not too far”,’ he quotes. ‘Sure. What’s a few thousand miles?’ Magnus feels himself flush, and his expression must be the last straw because Alec gives in to bright, happy laughter, shaking his head and declaring, ‘I love you. Alright. So. B.C.. What did you want to show me?’
Magnus regains a little of his composure, linking their gloved hands and leading Alec over to the edge of the precipice they’re standing on. ‘This is Cerberus Falls,’ he explains, a fond ache in his chest as his boyfriend’s eyes go wide in wonder. ‘One of the tallest waterfalls on the continent.’ ‘It’s beautiful,’ Alec says wonderingly. ‘How high up are we?’ ‘Over fifteen hundred feet.’ Alec’s eyes snap to him, and Magnus takes the opportunity to twist a hand, conjuring a grey basketball – hopefully, it’ll be less conspicuous than the usual orange. ‘Hold this out with both hands, and drop it straight down.’
Alec steps back from the edge in clear surprise, before his expression takes on its familiar teasing glint. ‘Is this what you do with immortality?’ he asks. ‘Go around committing acts of mild vandalism in natural beauty spots?’ Magnus rolls his eyes, but can’t stop the smile on his own face. ‘Stop sassing me and drop the ball, sweetheart.’
Alec’s face doesn’t quite lose the sass – not that Magnus minds, per se. Alexander has a wonderful ability to seemingly always laugh with someone, not at them – but he does take the ball, lean over the edge again, and drop it. Magnus joins him to watch it fall, getting caught in a few crosswinds and shifting course slightly before it disappears, the barest white splash of water marking its touchdown far below. ‘Okay, that was pretty cool,’ Alec says.
Magnus pulls him back from the edge again, and resummons the now-wet basketball, smirking a little as Alec blinks; it’s really not been all that long since Magnus’ confession, and Alec’s fascination with the most basic parts of this new, magical world continue to be delightful. ‘All right,’ Magnus says, ‘now watch this.’ And he drops the ball again, this time adding a heavy amount of backspin.
As Magnus expected, it soars away from the cliff.
He beams as he looks over at Alec’s stunned expression. ‘Surprised?’ ‘You could say that,’ Alec says faintly, still looking at the ball – watching how it splashes down a long way out from the cliff, compared to before. ‘Did you – ‘ He gestures wildly with one hand in a way that clearly means magic. Magnus laughs. ‘No, I didn’t – ‘ he imitates the movement exaggeratedly, receiving a fond glare in return as Alec finally looks back up at him. ‘It’s purely physics, and it was actually discovered by a Mundane. Spin affects fluid currents around a moving object.’
‘…Okay,’ Alec says. He takes a seat on the nearest rock, tugging at Magnus’ hand to come and join him. ‘Don’t’ get me wrong, babe, it’s a cool physics lesson all by itself. But I’m guessing there’s something more to it?’ Magnus sits down, marveling idly at the man beside him. He’s not used to being so well-known, not with how distant he’d grown from Catarina and Ragnor until their recent reconnection. ‘There is,’ he confirms. ‘Another reason. I brought you here to show it to you because it’s my namesake.’ He glances over at Alec. ‘It’s called the Magnus effect.’ ‘Oh,’ Alec says, a small undercurrent of excitement in his otherwise casual voice. ‘That’s amazing. Can I ask why you chose it?’
And this is the reason he brought Alec here, for gods’ sakes; but that doesn’t stop the visceral tremble of anxiety Magnus feels at the question.
He takes a slow, deep breath. ‘I’ve mentioned before, how I was… different, in the past,’ he says carefully, looking out over the rocky landscape, not ready to meet Alec’s eyes again just yet. ‘Well, there came a time – in the early 1800s or so – where I began to… realize, I suppose.’ He swallows hard. ‘I won’t inflict the details on you right now, but essentially? I realized that the people I’d been associating with, the way I was moving through the world… it was more than just selfish, and it wasn’t necessary for survival anymore; hadn’t been for most of the time I’d been telling myself that, if I’m honest with myself.’ Suddenly, even the mountains feel bizarrely judgemental in their gaze, and so Magnus looks down at his feet instead. ‘And once I’d come to terms with all of that, I wanted to be different,’ he continues quietly. ‘I wandered for a long time, and I fixed what I could, and I made myself different. And I wanted nothing to do with my old life, my old identity – because I didn’t want to be that person anymore.’
He smiles, despite himself. ‘And, well. I suppose I was a little pretentious back then. Because I heard about the very beginnings of this new discovery, and I thought… that’s what I need. A new trajectory.’ He exhales as steadily as he can. ‘So, I started calling myself Magnus Bane, as a promise to myself and to the world in general. A promise to be better – to do better. To turn away from destruction, and be a force for good. And it’s a promise I’ve tried to keep ever since.’
His explanation finished, he sits there quietly, awaiting judgement.
There’s movement to his right, and then Alec is crouching in front of him, interrupting his eyeline. ‘Thank you for telling me,’ he says softly – and there’s no ire, no disgust in his gaze, just sincerity; affection, even. ‘You know that it’s a promise you live up to, right? Whatever happened in the past, I’ve only ever known you to be kind. To help people.’ He smiles softly. ‘You did it, angel. You’re keeping your promise. I see it every day.’ Magnus laughs, and it’s a wet, strained thing, but there’s genuine relief behind it. ‘Thank you,’ he murmurs, and he knows that it’s barely audible over the waterfall, but Alec nods. ‘It’s a work in progress, of course – I suppose we all are. But I’m going to keep trying.’ Alec just nods again, holding Magnus’ gaze and squeezing his hands comfortingly.
A few long minutes later, he pulls Magnus to his feet. ‘Do you want to – re-summon the ball?’ he asks, mischief starting to dance in his eyes once more. ‘I’ll bet you ten Canadian dollars I can get it to spin out further than you.’ And Magnus chuckles, louder and more decisive as he lets the shame wash away again, lets his lover lead him forwards once more. ‘You’re on.’
Meet the Bakugos
Pairing: Katsuki Bakugo x Fem reader
Word Count: 3.1k
Summary: Y/n convinces Katsuki to take her to meet his parents and Katsuki isn’t quite sure how to handle it
Bakugo knocked on your dorm room door impatiently. His fingertips sparked as his palms began to sweat from his nervousness. “Well don’t you look all doll up,” he smirked, taking in your red and black flowery dress that landed mid-thigh. Seeing you in a dress was a rare occasion for him. It was a nice difference, not that he could get himself to admit that to you. At least not yet.
“Shut your damn mouth Katsuki,” you rolled your eyes before walking back into your room. Bakugou took it upon himself to walk inside the room, closing the door behind him.
“When’d you get that,” he asked as he plopped down in your desk chair. “Been holding back on me?” He busied his mind by tidying the already clean desk, shifting your knick-knacks a little. His hands settled for fidgeting with the stress ball lying on your desk.
“Asked Momo to make it for me.” You slipped on some shoes. “Well, technically Ururaka asked her for me after she found out what we’re doing today. She asked her to make this too,” you informed him before tossing him a red short-sleeved button up top. “They thought it’d be cute for us to match.”
“You told them?! Damn blabbering woman! Why’d the hell did they need to know?” Katsuki set the ball down to examine the shirt, scoffing quietly.
“Cause they’re my friends and I wanted them to know we’re dating! Plus I’m gonna meet your parents, that’s kinda a big thing dummy. Now cool it and put the shirt on bakubitch.” You walked over to him and playfully shoved him only to have him catch your hand.
“Not gonna happen… baku’s bitch,” he laughed cockily, pressing a quick kiss to your newly formed fist. He laid the shirt across your desk as he stood up.
“I hate you, idiot,” you huffed, sending him your best pouty face. You watched as the resolve in his fiery eyes slowly dissolved, giving in to your wish. With an annoyed grumble, he began to strip off his shirt, grabbing the shirt from the back and over his head. Your eyes feasted upon the ripples of his muscles. Sure, you’d seen them countless times at this point, but he was always a sight to behold.
“Happy now,” Katsuki asked sarcastically, his fingers working on the final button of the shirt. He tried to maintain his look of annoyance, but your shy smile made it hard to do anything but smile back. “You’re a real pain in the ass.”
“Guess that’s why we get along.”
You walked with a distance between the two of you as you made your way out of the dorms. Never mind the fact that the whole class of 1-A probably already knew you had been dating Katsuki for nearly two months. Honestly, they probably thought you two had been dating longer than you actually have. There was always that energy between the pair of you, but nothing ever happened- not in front of others anyways. That was just how you and Bakugou did things. Training together and the occasional movie night cuddles were the extent of your PDA on campus. Katsuki kept most things private, determined to savor every moment with you without having to share. You were his and his alone. His hand found its way into yours the moment you stepped foot out of the UA gates.
You leaned over, gently pressing your lips to his soft skin. You could feel his already sun-heated cheeks grow slightly warmer under your lips. You couldn’t help yourself. The way his skin glowed under the golden light made him look like a god. Yet here he was, all yours. “Oi, cut that out.”
“I couldn’t help it,” you giggled, doing it again. “You just look really cute.” You teased your fingers through his hair, trying to push straggling stands out of his face. “My cute little sparky porcupine, love you.” Once again you pressed your lips to his cheek before giving him a quick peck on the lips.
“You keep this up and we’re going back to the dorm,” Katsuki snarled, dropping your hand. It quickly made itself a new home, wrapping around your waist, tugging you closer to him. There was little space left between you, barely enough for a cup. His thumb traced along the curve of your waist teasingly slow. His crimson eyes burned into yours as he rested his forehead on yours, cockily waiting for you to challenge him. It was a part of you that he loved seeing the most. Watching you stand up to him despite always being so quiet. He’d be lying if he said it didn’t turn him on a little.
“Like I’d let you. I won the bet fair and square,” you huffed. “And if you don’t, believe me, I’ll happily kick your ass again,” you smirked, poking your finger into his chest.
It was a little game you two liked to play to up the stakes of training. Whenever you’d spar there had to be something to fight for. It was typically just something like the winner gets to be the little spoon later. Yesterday’s sparring match’s stake was a little different though. How you got on the subject of meeting each other’s parents you didn’t really know. Either way, Bakugou had proposed that the loser has to take the other to dinner with their parents. He thought he could easily win, but you proved him otherwise. Twice.
“Come on, we don’t want to be late.”
“I wouldn’t mind,” Katsuki mumbled, rubbing his nose against yours. “We could go back and cuddle.”
“Do you really not want me to meet your parents that bad?”
“It’s not that, it’s just- my mom can be kind of a hardass. You’d be the first one to meet her-.”
“I thought I was your only girlfriend so far?”
“You are, idiot. I meant out of everyone… well except Deku. But, you’d be the first friend, and girlfriend, that I’ve introduced to her and my dad.”
You cupped his cheek in your hand before kissing him softly. “It’s okay to be nervous, I am too. I promise I’ll be on my best behavior. Besides, we’ve taken on villains before, she can’t be as bad,” you tried to cheer him up, only to earn a half-amused scoff. “I’ll manage suki, for all you know me and your parents could become better friends than you and I.” You pulled away from him just enough so he could take in all of your brilliant smile.
“Please stop,” Katsuki grimaced at the thought. “You belong to this Bakugo and I don’t feel like sharing.” He could see the smart alec reply already forming, just waiting to jump off of the tip of your tongue. He pressed his lips against yours in a quick attempt to keep you quiet. “Come on, the food’s gonna get cold.” Taking your hand in his, he led you to his home.
The walk was shorter than you thought. Between Katsuki’s heat and the warmth from the hidden sun you felt like you were wrapped in a blanket fresh out a dryer. You lost the number of times one of you would break the link between your hands to wipe the claminess off of your palms.
“Wow,” you gaped at his home, stopping at the gate to admire the architecture. “Its-.”
“It’s alright,” Katsuki shrugged it off. He stood there awkwardly with you, giving you time to do what you wanted before continuing towards the door.
You brought his hand to your lips despite the sparks flying. “Relax Suki, we’ve handled worse.” You fixed the stray stand, pushing them back together. You chuckled softly as you turned your attention to his shirt, “So much for tough guy Bakugo.” You gently fixed the fold of his collar, allowing your hands to follow the curve of his shoulders back down to his hand. “It’s cute.”
“Where is that kid,” Mitsuki barked as she opened the door, causing you to let out a squeal in surprise. “Oh. I was getting worried something might’ve happened to you two,” she continued in a more gentle voice. She forced herself to ignore Katsuki’s eyeroll.
“Mom meet my girlfriend, Y/n.” His grumbling did nothing to deter the butterflies going bezerk in your stomach.
“It’s so nice to finally meet you.” Mitsuki stepped aside, making room for you and Katuski to walk inside. “When he brought you up I thought he was making it up. Not that I didn’t think he could find a girl.”
You quickly cut off Katsuki, who was growing more irritated by the second. “I know what you mean, but he’s all bark and a little bite.” You nudged him with your elbow, “but between you and me he’s a big softie.” Katsuki clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth to refrain from saying anything.
Mitsuki smiled softly at your comment, “Is he now? Can’t say I’ve heard that from many people.” She looked back and forth between you two momentarily. It was a sight to see, Katsuki standing in front of her with nothing short of a sweetheart. “I’m going to check on the food, Katsuki why don’t you show her around.”
“Didn’t realize I was giving home tours,” he muttered in annoyance, rolling his eyes as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.
“Stop your bitchin’,” you fussed at him quietly, forgetting Mitsuki was there for a minute.
“The hell did you say?!”
“You heard me sparky.” You turned back to Mitsuki with a smile, “Need any help in the kitchen, Mrs. Bakugo? I’d- we’d be glad to help out.” Ignoring Katsuki’s mumbled ‘like hell we would’, you continued to smile softly.
Mitsuki laughed under her breath, shaking her head. “That’s alright, I’m sure Masaru and I can manage. And please call me Mitsuki.”
You watched as she walked into the kitchen, waiting for her to disappear before you slapped Katsuki’s arm. “Would it kill you to not be an ass. I know they’re probably used to it, but still.” You hung onto his shoulder as you stood on your toes, “Please Suki.”
“Being cute will only get your ass so far.” He gently held onto your hips, steadying you as he searched your begging eyes. His eyes fell to your lips and back up to your own. “Come on then short stack, let’s get the grand tour over with.”
You followed closely behind him as he showed you around his childhood home. “Aww look at baby Katsuki’s room,” you squealed, squeezing past him into the room. “It’s so neat, like out of a magazine. Oh my goodness! Look at that AllMight stuffie.” You hurried over to his shelf, holding the plush in your hands.
Sure, you knew your boyfriend’s favorite hero was AllMight. It’s just you never pictured him as much of a stuffed toy fan. At least not until your eyes landed on a familiar toy of yours that had gone missing. Sitting on his bed was a little green triceratops, resting dead center. Excitement quickly filled your eyes.
“It’s the only place you wouldn’t find it,” Katsuki shrugged, walking over and picking the toy up. Kirishima had stolen it from your room during a baku squad movie night months ago and passed it onto Bakugo. It was a game of keep away that was only supposed to last a few days. He had every intention of giving it back, but when he realized it smelled like you it seemed nearly impossible. He had even spent a couple of nights with it tucked under his arm as he slept, not that he’d tell you.
You watched as he absentmindedly played with the horn of the dinosaur with a loving smile on your face. You faked a cough to cover a quick, “softie.”
“Katsuki, Y/n, food is ready,” Masaru called, saving you from Katsuki’s wrath.
“Coming,” Katsuki snapped back. He turned to you with a mischievous smirk, “come here, princess.” He stalked towards you like a lion after a gazelle, his eyes piercing through you.
You looked down at his sparking hand and back up to his eyes with a nervous laugh. “Don’t you dare.” You inched backwards, waiting on him to make a move. “Stop it,” you chuckled, holding your hands out in defense. A few quick steps made by him left you running to the entrance of the kitchen giggling like a child. “Smells delicious.” You scurried over to the chair across from Mitsuki, plopping down as Katsuki walked into the room. You shot him a victorious grin before beginning to make your plate.
“Thank you,” Katsuki said politely as he sat next to you, pulling his seat closer. He lowered his hand under the table, careful not to draw any attention to himself. With one smooth movement he activated his quirk, popping you on your butt and causing you to squeal.
“You dickhead,” you exclaimed, completely forgetting about Katsuki’s parents. “I swear if you messed up my dress I’ll kick your…,” you trailed off, finally remembering you were around his parents. “I’ll kick your butt. Sorry.” You smiled apologetically at Mitsuki before stuffing your mouth with food to keep from saying anything else.
Katsuki’s hearty laugh filled the room and if it weren’t for your embarrassment you probably would’ve joined him. You wanted to wipe the smug grin off of his face and get back at him.
“Your outfits are cute,” Masaru chimed in. Katsuki’s laughter quickly died down, replaced with an annoyed look. “I assume it was your idea,” he continued in a questioning tone.
“Of course it was her idea,” Katsuki spat, “why would I want to do something this stupid.”
“I ask myself that about you everyday,” you said snidely. “Also do I need to bring up-.”
“Damn it, shut up!” He proceeded to stuff his mouth, his chewing somehow as loud as if he were chewing into a microphone. His red eyes grew darker with irritation, yet he kept his mouth closed.
The rest of the conversations consisted of the usual questions, typically answered by you. How long have you known each other? When you started dating? How’s school? Not that you could hear the conversation fully thanks to Katsuki chewing angrily. Sure he put on an irritated facade, but you could tell his father’s comment brought more embarrassment than anything else. And dealing with being embarrassed was not one of his strong suits. Every now and then you’d try to cheer him up with a quick rub on the back or by nudging his leg, it barely worked.
“So, uh, how serious would you say it’s getting? Have you two…?” Masaru trailed off, assuming everyone at the table knew where the question was going.
“What the hell?! The hell ya askin’ that for,” Katsuki quickly exploded, raising from his seat and nearly knocking his chair over. You reached over and steadied the chair, your eyes focused on your now angry boyfriend.
“Katsu, please sit back down,” you asked him quietly. You slid your hand into his, giving it a loving squeeze.
Mitsuki shifted, clearly trying to hold her tongue. “Actually, how about we go to the living room.” Her voice was calm and smooth, almost a little intimidating. “I’m sure the boys can handle cleaning the kitchen.” She rose from the chair after sending Katsuki a hardened look. You nodded and followed behind, kissing Katsuki on the cheek before walking into the living room.
You sat on the couch, the cushion sinking a little beneath you, as Mitsuki walked over to a shelf. “I was worried he’d never find someone to cut down some of that ego of his.” You weren’t quite sure if she was talking to you or just aloud. “Everyone seems to be too scared or too amazed by him to say anything,” she continued as she pulled out a book. “Can’t say I blame them with his smarts and quirk.” She strolled over and sat beside you, handing you the book.
The picture of little Katsuki from what you assumed was pre-k on the cover immediately caught your attention. You smiled softly, your heart melting at the sight of his huge smile. “He is pretty amazing,” you admitted. “His quirk, intellect, heck even his personality is amazing. He’s not so intimidating once you take the time to know him. And don’t even get me started about his work ethic.” You knew you were speaking, but it didn’t feel like you. Your heart poured itself out as your mind focused on the pictures in the scrapbook. “He’s gonna be an awesome hero one day, after me of course. But he knows I’ll kick his ass any time of the day, pardon my language.”
Mitsuki’s giggle loosened your nerves you hadn’t even realized you still had. She watched you with admiration in her eyes, “I’m glad you feel that way and I’m glad he has you. He’s happy with you and I can see why.” You looked up at her, already hearing Katsuki’s teasing and grumbles about this later. “Masaru and I want to know you’re always welcome here.”
Before you could stop yourself you had flung your arms around her, taking her by surprise. As you were about to pull away you could feel her enveloping you in her warm embrace.
Katsuki walked into the room with a dumbfounded expression on his face. His eyes shifted back and forth between you and his mother, taking in the scene before him. He obnoxiously cleared his throat, “It’s getting late, we should head back before curfew.”
You reluctantly released Mitsuki and stood up, smoothing out your dress and handing her the scrapbook. “Thank you for dinner, it was delicious.” Katsuki trailed behind you as you made your way out the door, muttering his thanks and byes.
He walked quietly beside you for a while, holding you close to help provide you whatever heat the setting sun lacked. “Think it’s safe to say your parents like me,” you broke the silence only to receive an eyeroll.
“Too bad, I don’t plan on sharing you often.”
“Okay Mr. Grumpy Pants,” you rolled your eyes dramatically. “Not my fault the Bakugos seem to like me so much. I just have that effect on everyone.”
Katsuki let out a sound that was a mix between a scoff and a chuckle. “Hope you feel this happy when I do the same to your parents next weekend.” You slapped his chest with a laugh. “You’re not the only parent charmer, I can get them to like me more than you do.”
“Not possible, idiot. I don’t just like you, I kind of, maybe, sort of love you.” You could feel Katsuki’s chest rumble with laughter at your confession before he stopped in front of you. His muscular frame towered over you.
“I guess I might love you too,” he teased, making your cheeks flush. “How ‘bout we hurry back to the dorms so I can show you how much.”
“Lead the way.”
As promised here are some fragments from my two UFO fics. They’re not finished by any means, and I’m long overdue for a rewatch, but I hope you enjoy them all the same. Thanks! @someawkwardprose
The Price We Pay - A UFO Fic
[Freeman learns the consequences of his actions]
[Inspired by episode “A Question of Priorities"]
Alec Freeman‘s footfalls echoed down the bright corridor as he rounded the corner of S.H.A.D.O.’s central command hub. He’d forgotten a bit of paperwork at Keith Ford’s desk and meant to pick it up before finally heading home. The past sixteen hours had been particularly grueling after a string of UFOs managed to sneak past the interceptors, enter the atmosphere, and evade Sky One long enough to give everyone ulcers. With the day finally behind him he was eager to crawl between the sheets and expected to be asleep before his head touched the pillow.
Ford, ever a neat man, kept his station clean and Freeman found the survey maps immediately. He glanced at them disinterestedly, barely registering words as he touched a cigarette to his lips for the long walk to his car. Just once, he thought, I’d like to get out of here at a reasonable hour. Tucking the maps under his arm, he fished a lighter from his pocket and took a drag as the cigarette caught. As he turned to leave he noticed a sliver of light under Ed Straker’s office door. Odd, he thought, taking another pull from the cigarette. I’d assumed he’d left already.
The unmistakable smell of alcohol hit him as the doors opened at his approach; Freeman paused at the entry, trying to make sense of the scene before him.
Straker was seated, slumped over a mess of dossiers that spilled from his desk onto the floor, clutching a half empty glass in a white-knuckle grip. He apparently had heard the door open and sat up straight in alarm, jerking his head around to see Freeman lingering in the doorway. A look of panic passed behind his cool stare and settled into mild wariness.
“Easy,” Freeman began as he walked into the room, “it’s only me.”
Straker acknowledged him with a nod but otherwise said nothing. All their interactions over the past few days had been constrained, and despite Straker’s brusque assurances to the contrary, Freeman had a gut feeling he didn’t have the whole story. Seeing Straker partake in alcohol did little to alleviate his concerns, on the contrary it amplified them; the man made a point never to touch the stuff.
He glanced at the glass again and frowned. “All right, who died?”
Straker stared hard at the wall opposite him, unblinking. His fingers tensed around the glass.
“John,” he managed quietly. “John died.”
Freeman froze. John?
“The transport didn’t make it in time. It carried antibiotics...”
“Antibiotics?”
Freeman suddenly recalled the way Straker’s face paled upon hearing the transport had been used to find the downed UFO. He swallowed back sour bile rising in his throat as realization set in. He'd made the decision to divert the transport, they were his orders, on his call.
His fault.
“For God’s sake, Ed, why didn’t you tell me that transport carried medication for your son? Had I known I never would have ordered it to change course!”
Freeman ran his free hand through his hair as he desperately paced the office, cigarette dangling forgotten in his other. He turned to pin Straker with a desperate, pleading look.
“You should have told me!”
“To what end, Alec? What could I have done? We can’t afford to waste any opportunity, any chance, to learn more about these alien invaders.”
“But your son—”
Straker’s fists slammed the desk surface, upsetting the glass and sending a flurry of pages fluttering to the office floor. His eyes widened, equally started by the sudden outburst as his colleague. Freeman stopped pacing.
“You know as well as I do, the responsibility of this job! The sacrifices we agreed to when joining S.H.A.D.O.!”
Freeman dropped his eyes to the floor and sighed. He rolled the cigarette between his thumb and finger, watching the ash fall onto the tile. Normally he would never have been so inconsiderate, but courtesy was furthest from his mind.
“How can I perform my duties if I don’t know what’s going on?”
Domestic Strife - A UFO Fic
[Straker has second thoughts about his marriage]
[Inspired by episode Confetti Check A-O.K.”]
⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅
Alec Freeman picked up a pair of glasses and gestured toward the bar.
“Shall we?”
Ed Straker leaned back into his new chair and propped his feet on the desk's corner, blowing out a puff of smoke while giving Freeman a side-long glance. The older man raised his brows expectantly, waiting for an answer. Straker shook his head and smiled around his cigar.
"Well if you won't, I will."
“You know, Alec, I had a feeling you’d put that machine through its paces. I just didn’t expect you to do so so quickly. It's been operational for a grand total of ten minutes now.”
He took another pull from his cigar.
“Must be some kind of record,” he added through a haze of smoke.
Freeman flashed him a smile and pressed the button marked WHISKY.
Straker took another drag from his cigar and looked around his new office. At the moment its furnishing were sparse; besides the office bar, conference table, and video screens there wasn't much else. He had a few maps and diagrams he planned to put up, and had asked some of the boys to install a working model of the Earth's orbit, complete with its own rotating Moon, along the far wall.
"It's coming along nicely," Freeman said, sipping from his glass. He pointed at the expansive wall behind the conference table. "Any plans for that bit of space there?"
"Not at the moment. At any rate I've asked that the walls be painted, get rid of this industrial Spartan gloom.”
"Speaking of paint, how's the house coming along? Been there a few months, I'm sure Mary's got it looking like a home by now."
⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅
(Straker is stuck doing paperwork. Freeman walks in with a bouquet of flowers and sets them on Ed’s desk. Straker’s like ??? “I’d thank you Alex but what’s the occasion?” They’re for Mary” “I asked Miss Ealand to have them delivered. You mentioned her birthday was today/it is her birthday, isn’t it?” Straker just blanches. Freeman tells him to take credit for the flowers, chalking his forgetfulness to stress/them being newlyweds.)
"They're for Mary. I asked Miss Ealand to have them delivered," he said, setting them on Straker's desk. "You mentioned her birthday was today. It is her birthday, isn't it?"
Straker stared at the flowers, cool blue stare growing cooler by the second. Freeman took a little card from the bouquet and quietly folded it before placing it in his pocket.
"Tell her they're from you.”
Straker hardly smiled anymore. He was starting to develop fine lines at the corner of his mouth and eyes, aging him prematurely. At times like this his platinum hair looked white.
“I owe you, Alec.”
⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅
“I don’t think I’m cut out for this marriage business, Alec.”
“Nonsense. What’s marriage compared to global security?”
Freeman’s eyes flicked over to his friend with guarded emotion.
“Well, you love her, don’t you?”
“Of course, Alec, don’t get me wrong. I love Mary very much.” He paused, staring into space. “Sometimes I just wonder if she deserves to be with someone who won’t keep secrets.”
Intimacy Prompts #20: a hand written note for rydenko.
from this list
on AO3 here
Thank you so much for this one! Sorry it took so long - I had an idea, but I got side tracked by other things! :) Enjoy, my friend! And thank you for asking about them!
Setting: Andromeda Galaxy
~~~
It all begins as a joke.
Once his status as Pathfinder is officially recognized, the Initiative administrators cannot act fast enough to guarantee they have Kaidan Alenko on their side. As the Nexus slowly opens, finally coming out of hibernation, the administrators agree they need to do something. So, they give him an apartment.
Scott has his father’s quarters back on the Hyperion, most of the others have their own quarters or stay on the Tempest, but all Kaidan has available to him is a cryo-pod, one that’s no longer useful now that he’s awake. He doesn’t ask for anything, doesn’t even drop a hint. Tann reminds him of others back in the Milky Way, even acts similarly, but he’s a crafty one, too. In a move that is supposed to look as if the Initiative cares about their Pathfinders, they assign their lone Pathfinder an apartment. Whether or not they actually do care about him and the role is beside the point.
Kaidan, who detests being used as a political pawn but recognizes he can do nothing about it, hates it on sight.
Okay, so maybe hate is too strong of a word. It isn’t the orchard back in the BC Interior, that’s for damned sure, and it’s a far cry from shared barracks during his Alliance years. He has a room on the Tempest, so it he has some choice about where he can stay. But this… this tiny cubicle that they are calling an apartment? Four walls, open spacing, barely any room to turn around without bumping into something? There is absolutely nothing homey about it. Home, is something he’s still searching for.
That lasts about three weeks, until the day Scott drops by when Kaidan isn’t there and instead of messaging him to meet up elsewhere, leaves a handwritten note slipped beneath his door. Kaidan almost misses it when he gets back after his meeting with Tann, Addison, and Kesh. Just a small slip of paper – where had Scott found actual paper? – written in black ink. A hint of white on an otherwise light-colored floor which is barely discernable. Something about it catches the corner of his eye, though.
K – Stopped by to see you. Catch you later. Scott
Kaidan reads it twice, just in case he’s having hallucinations thanks to the burgeoning migraine before setting it on the corner of his desk, thinking to send a reply via omni-tool. But the meetings with Tann and the others are taking their toll, and even with SAM’s assistance, the pain is such he forgets until the next morning, at which point he decides to just head on over to the Hyperion instead.
Of course, Scott isn’t there.
Scott – Was in the area and thought I’d save you a trip. Better luck next time, right? Catch you on the Tempest. K
The Tempest is scheduled out the next morning and, as typically happens aboard the ship with last minute things to do and distractions of all kinds, neither he nor Scott thinks to mention the messages to the other; almost an ‘out of sight, out of mind,’ sort of thing. End of story.
Except, it isn’t.
The weeks pass, more notes appear at the apartment and on the Tempest or Hyperion. Small ones. Silly ones. Eventually, Scott starts leaving small sketches of different people on them – quick things, some cute, some ridiculous, but always they leave Kaidan smiling.
A caricature of Tann speaking with Addison and Kesh mimicking him behind his back even as Tann’s head is blown up twice the size of the others.
A small cartoon of Suvi in the galley, laser focused as she points to different Heleus rocks and explains their different tastes to a very confused looking Drack while Lexi stands in the doorway scolding her.
A stick figure sketch of Kallo and the several of the Tempest at various stages of the ship’s development.
Kaidan cannot hide his amusement at a more realistic looking sketch of Cora and Liam as they lean against one another in the back seat of the Nomad, fast asleep. He remembers the incident clearly, from their last visit to Elaaden. Even as he stares at the sketch, he swears he can hear their soft snores echoing in his ears as he tacks it to the wall over his desk next to the others.
Not to be outdone, Kaidan starts leaving quotes in his messages to Scott; from books, movies, and other inspirational sources he’s come across. He’s been collecting them for years, long before he ever left for BAaT. Most are saved on his omni-tool, but he has two small, leatherbound journals filled with the most meaningful ones he’s come across. They are about the only thing he was able to bring with him from home when he joined the Initiative.

Fear profits a man nothing.(4)
With each successive note between them, Kaidan learns a little bit more about Scott. But the whole situation changes drastically after their adventures on the archon’s ship. On the way back to the Nexus and after Lexi has cleared him, Kaidan does something he hasn’t done in centuries, if ever…
~~~~
The buzzer to his Nexus apartment sounds, but Kaidan doesn’t bother to answer it. It’s Scott, and the man has his own key. The buzzer, he supposes, is Scott’s polite way to warn him that he’s arrived. The fact that Scott uses does it now of all times tells Kaidan something more; Scott is pissed.
Well, I probably deserve it after what happened.
He’s tempted to not answer, to see if Scott leaves a note, but decides not to risk it. Opening the door, he steps to the side to allow the younger man in. Scott remains silent, though his body language screams in a way that Kaidan easily recognizes. Taut, tense, his lips tightened in a thin line, the way he won’t look directly at Kaidan… It’s one side of a conversation Kaidan’s been on many times, albeit hundreds of years before and in a different galaxy.
“Do you have any idea what you just did?” Scott demands, blue eyes sharp and snapping with anger. “Any idea what could have happened back on the archon’s ship if SAM hadn’t been able to resuscitate you? You-you could have died back there!”
Opting to let the younger man get it out in one fell swoop, Kaidan bides his time. Well, except for one point of clarification. “I did die.”
Scott growls in the back of his throat. An honest to goodness growl. Kaidan can’t help the small smirk that twists at his lips as a result. When Scott steps forward, invading his personal space, Kaidan does something he usually doesn’t do; he goads him. “What? It’s the truth, isn’t it?”
“Not helping the situation!”
Kaidan isn’t certain if he should be worried that SAM is, so far, remaining silent in his head. “I needed to get us out of there,” he argues instead. “How else was I going to –?”
“You? Why did it have to be you? Why is it always you?” Scott tosses his hands in the air and turns away, frustration building until his biotic corona flickers around him. Still grumbling to himself, he turns back, glaring at Kaidan. “What the hell am I going to do if I lose you like that?”
Kaidan sucks in a breath, recognizing the pain. Sure, things between them have improved since their arrival in Andromeda – no place to go but up, right? – but this…? This is a reinforcement of what he’s hoped for ever since accepting Alec Ryder’s offer.
Or am I reading too much into this?
On their private channel, SAM replies, “You are not, Kaidan.”
Scott still prowls around the room as Kaidan asks, “Can you come over here for a minute?”
“Why? So you can die on me a third time?”
Petulance is not a good look for Scott, and Kaidan has to bite back a laugh; as much as he wants to set it free, it would do more harm than good just now. “I want to show you something.”
Scott grumbles some more, even as Kaidan heads on over, but eventually he follows. When he arrives, Kaidan hands him the letter. “Read this.”
The blue-eyed glare returns, heavy with suspicion. “What is it?”
“Just read. Please.”
Scott waits another moment, two, then drops his gaze and starts reading. For several minutes, Kaidan waits patiently, watching. The letter isn’t long, but Scott is taking his time reading it, but Kaidan knows when Scott reaches the end because the younger man’s spine stiffens, his shoulders roll back, and his head snaps up as he darts a quick look up at Kaidan. “Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.(5)”
When Scott says nothing else, Kaidan prods, “So, what do you think?”
Scott is quiet for a minute. It’s difficult to read his reaction because he keeps his back to Kaidan the entire time, slightly hunched in the shoulders, utterly quiet. “Do you mean it?” he asks, voice soft as if having trouble pushing it out.
“I always try to say what I mean, Scott.”
The younger man turns around, his face a surprisingly neutral mask. Considering how difficult that has been for him in the past, Kaidan is impressed. “So, you’re saying you consider yourself the luckiest man on Earth or, in this case I guess, the Nexus, because you survived?”
Ah, so that’s the problem. Reaching over, Kaidan settles a hand on Scott’s cheek. Scott leans into it, then apparently thinks better of it or at the very least realizes what he’s doing and pulls back. But that’s okay. Kaidan now has a far better sense of what he is working with. Running his thumb along the corner of Scott’s lips, he says quietly, “I am the luckiest man in Andromeda because you are here with me.”
Tension immediately flows out of Scott and he visibly sags a bit. “And you really mean that? Because look, I get that my Dad talked you into all of this without checking with me first, and –”
Kaidan slides his thumb over the top of Scott’s lips to silence him. “I really mean that. This has nothing to do with your dad, but everything to do with you….”
Writers Month Day 3: Magic
Shadowhunters. Magnus and Lorenzo
Magnus and Lorenzo discuss magic and magical taboos over drinks.
.
Lorenzo’s voice is slightly slurred when he leans over, elbows on his knees, and asks, “How do you do it?”
And fine, Magnus isn’t exactly sober himself but even sober Magnus wouldn’t be able to make sense of Lorenzo’s ravings. “Do what? I’ve done a lot of fantastic things in my life. Pick one.” He leans back, toasting to empty air. Satisfaction coils deep in his gut as a muscle in Lorenzo’s face spasms.
“Your magic. The blue and the red. I’ve never seen a warlock whose magic is more than one color.”
Suddenly, being tipsy isn’t nearly enough. Magnus needs to be drunk for this. He keeps his smile in place with an effort of will. “Perhaps I just naturally go both ways. Some of us have more fun than others Lorenzo.”
Lorenzo’s answering scoff threatens to spill his drink onto the plush carpet of the sitting room. The opulent style isn’t to Magnus’ taste but it suits his former rival. Imposing and arrogant at first glance, but surprisingly comfortable after prolonged contact. Or perhaps it’s like a garbage dump where you eventually get used to the smell. He’s not sure yet but at least Lorenzo’s liquor is the good stuff so he’s willing to be magnanimous and reserve judgement until he sobers up.
“Spare me your sexual exploits, Bane. I’d like to have some semblance of an appetite when I meet Andrew for dinner later.”
“Oh, Andrew is it? I didn’t even know dear Underhill had a first name.”
“Don’t be ridiculous.”
Magnus taps a finger on his chin. “What was it you once said to me? Something about the disgrace of dating a Shadowhunter? If I was a lesser man I might have a few choice words to say.”
Lorenzo raises an eyebrow but irritatingly enough, doesn’t take the bait. “You’re avoiding the question,” he muses as he takes a considering sip of his drink. When he puts the glass back onto its coaster with a soft clink, Magnus still hasn’t said a word. With sigh, Lorenzo shakes his head. “Very well, keep your secrets.”
“I don’t owe you an answer.”
Lorenzo inclines his head. “True, but…” The words trail off. For the first time, Lorenzo looks uncomfortable. He puts up his hands in a gesture of surrender and it’s so unlike him Magnus almost drops his own drink. “My apologies. The questions was a mere curiosity. You don’t have to answer if you prefer otherwise.”
Funny to think that just a few short months ago Lorenzo was bursting into his home and throwing accusations of corrupting ley lines in his face. Never in all his years did Magnus think they’d get to the point of a civil conversation, let alone whatever this is.
They aren’t friends.
Not with all their bad blood. The taunts, the threats, the attacks against each other still cast too large a shadow for anything more than occasional camaraderie and the exchange of ideas about potential threats to the city. Lorenzo still occasionally keeps a hand free in his presence, as if Magnus is going to summon his father into this plane of existence at any moment. He may think he’s being subtle, and perhaps he is to most warlocks. But to a warlock trained in combat magic, his readiness is obvious.
Magnus himself has mostly forgiven Lorenzo for blacklisting him in the wake of losing his magic. Mostly. His forgiveness waxes and wanes depending on his mood but he’s in a fine state tonight and despite Lorenzo’s very personal question about his magic, this get-together has been one of their better evenings.
He rises from the settee, pretending to study one of the hideous portraits of Lorenzo that line the walls. He doesn’t owe Lorenzo an answer but the whiskey always makes him more included to discuss magic. And the fact still remains that Lorenzo walked into the demonic equivalent of hell for Magnus. For Alec. For both of them.
Perhaps in a few centuries they’ll have a shot at real friendship.
Tomorrow, Magnus will blame the liquor for why he admitted the truth. It’s an easier lie than admitting that he perhaps misses the company of other warlocks. Ragnor is gone. Elias, too. Dot is on the run. Catarina is wonderful but even she can’t singlehandedly be everything to Magnus on her own.
He keeps his back to Lorenzo as he explains. “I put emotion in my spells. That’s why the color changes.”
Lorenzo’s gasp is poorly hidden and Magnus amuses himself in the growing silence by imagining the scandalized look that must be scrawled on Lorenzo’s face. He keeps his back turned and his magic ready. It’s both a test and a challenge.
Surprisingly enough, Lorenzo passes on both counts. “It’s probably for the best that I did not know that about you when I first came to New York.” Try as he might, Lorenzo can’t entirely hide the shake in his voice.
Magnus swirls his drink around in his glass and finally turns to face him. And winks, for good measure. “As if you could’ve hated me any more than you already did.”
“That kind of casting is dangerous! It’s—” Lorenzo cuts himself off, slumping back in his seat. “You don’t need me to tell you that, I’m aware.” It’s not acceptance but it’s not the outright denunciation Magnus had expected, either.
Perhaps one day he’ll tell Lorenzo the full story. About how he didn’t know how dangerous the technique was when he began using magic, at first because he had no one to teach him and later because the teacher he did have was his father.
His father, who took him in when he was only a child and taught him what it meant to be a warlock. Asmodeus had encouraged Magnus to throw his feelings into the fire of his magic. He’d encouraged the rage and the disappointment and the bitter grief over being rejected by the only family he ever knew.
It was only when Magnus turned his back on his father and struck his own path that he realized the teachings of his childhood were not how others practiced. They used words and techniques and drawing upon their own innate power. Magnus used that too, and then lit a match to the gasoline of his magic by pouring his emotions over the mass of power in his hands. Calming blue and livid red.
He’s tried to change but the technique is ingrained into his very bones.
Luckily, his type of casting is so rare that no one has ever guessed the true meaning behind the changing colors of his magic. Like Lorezno, they assume it’s some lost art rather than one of their greatest taboos.
The fact that Lorenzo isn’t judging him or threatening to expose him to the council means he might one day earn the right to hear the full story. Or maybe it means he’s too drunk to care. Either way, Magnus counts it as a win and he has a couple centuries, by his estimate, to figure out the rest.
In the meantime, he shrugs a shoulder and throws back the rest of his drink. “Yes, I’m aware,” he says, once the burn in his throat subsides.
Lorenzo pours him another and that’s the end of it.
Vacation on Isle Esme
Word Count: 6,989 Demetri x OC Part 7. Warning; Fluff, NSFW
“What’s going on with Ally?” Felix asked over Carlisle’s shoulder “I don’t know Felix, Demetri can’t wake her” Carlisle replies “I’ll get the plane ready and go and bring them home” Felix replies leaving the room “Demetri, Felix is coming out to Rio to bring you both home” Carlisle advises him “I know you’re worried but you need to stay calm, as long as Ally’s breathing she’ll be ok. Gently lay her on her side on the bed and pack your things because as soon Felix arrives you need to be ready to leave, ok?” Carlisle continues “O-Ok. T-Thank you Carlisle” Demetri replies low.
Ally woke up in Demetri’s arms “D-Demi” “Oh Ally” He breathed “Don’t ever scare me like that again” He kissed her forehead holding her closer to him “I-I’m sorry. I’d been sick…and… felt a bit lightheaded…and…and… I’m guessing I passed out” She replied softly “I came back and found you on the bathroom floor…I-I couldn’t wake you” He said low “I’m sorry” “You’re awake, safe and in my arms, that’s all I care about for now. Felix will be here soon and Carlisle is waiting for us back at the castle” He says quietly as she snuggles into him “I love you Dem” “I love you too.”
“Demetri, Ally” Felix calls out when he arrives “In here” Demetri calls out; Felix enters the bedroom and sees them both lying on the bed, Ally’s eyes closed “Is…Is she ok?” Felix asks voice shaky “Yea, she came round a few hours ago. She’s sleeping now though” Felix nods “I can’t begin to tell you how scared I was Fe, when I came back and found her…” Demetri trailed off looking into the bathroom “I can imagine D…Come on let’s get you both home, Carlisle’s waiting for you” Demetri nods and carries Ally out of the house as Felix grabs the suitcases.
Once back in the castle Carlisle comes to Demetri and Ally’s room to check on her “How are you feeling Ally?” He asks “Nauseous, a little light-headed again” Ally answered quietly “Ok, let’s have a look at you” Carlisle adds but before he can Ally runs into the bathroom and throws up what little food she ate for breakfast. “Carlisle is-is she going to ok?” Demetri asks concern clearly shown on his face “I can’t lose her” “Yes Demetri. She’ll be just fine as long as she takes my advice and you support her 100%” Carlisle replies “Of course I’ll support her. Why wouldn’t I?” Demetri says as he walks into the bathroom; putting her hair into a low ponytail before sitting down beside her rubbing her back gently. “Ally, I know what’s wrong with you” Carlisle says standing in the bathroom doorway “W-What is it?” She asks low not looking up “You’re pregnant Ally” Carlisle replies “Pr-pregnant? But th-that’s not…Oh my god…” Ally struggles to string a reply together before throwing up again. She looks over at Demetri; a look of surprise clearly shown in on his face. “How?” Demetri asks “Well now Demetri at your age I would have thought you knew how babies were made” Carlisle said smirking; Ally choked back a laugh “I know that Carlisle, I meant how could I let this happen? Aro told us how after seeing Edward’s and Renesmee’s thoughts that Bella died just after she gave birth…” Ally put her hand on his arm “I should have remembered that. I should been more careful with you mi amore” He turned her to face him and looked into her eyes “Forgive me. Please” He begged low “There is nothing to forgive my love. I get to have a baby with you, my husband, the man I love” She cups his face in her hands and places a kiss to his lips.
“All that matters now is that Ally follows my advice” Carlisle says “Of course Carlisle. Will you be staying until the baby arrives?” “Yes. I’ll be your doctor through this. I know what to expect this time around. You will need to drink blood daily as the baby requires it and it’ll help keep you healthy through the pregnancy. I will perform a caesarean when it’s time to deliver the baby. We just need to work out roughly how far along you are” Carlisle replies “She needs to drink blood? But she’s human Carlisle” Demetri asks thinking he may have heard wrong “Yes Demetri. We figured that out a little late with Bella I’m afraid” “Ok. When do I need to start drinking blood Carlisle?” She asked “As soon as possible” He replied.
There was a knock on the door “Hi baby girl. How are you feeling?” Renee asks as she wraps her arms around Ally “I’m ok mom” She replied “Do you know why you passed out whilst you were away?” “Yes mom. It turns out I’m pregnant” Ally responds “W-what? How is that possible?” Renee asks shocked “It turns out that male vampires are able to father children with human females. We only found this out last year when Bella got pregnant” Carlisle replies “Wait. Bella’s a mom too? Why wasn’t I told?” “Because Bella’s a vampire now and humans aren’t allowed to know about us” Carlisle replies “Bella only has Charlie in her life because of her friend Jake” He adds “I need you mom” Ally tightens her hold around Renee “I’m here baby girl” Renee says holding Ally closer stroking her hair “Are you happy about the news?” “Yes mom. We are” “Then congratulations to you both” Renee says smiling reaching out to Demetri who steps forward wrapping one arm around Ally and the other around Renee “Thank you Renee” He says low.
Once Carlisle and Renee leave, Ally goes to the closet to change and places her hand on her stomach “I-I have a baby bump” She says low, Demetri having followed her into the closet now notices the slight swelling of Ally’s stomach and wrapped him arms around her from behind resting his hands on her bump “How-how did I not notice before?” “We were otherwise engaged Demi” She says chuckling lightly, she feels him smile against her neck “You look so beautiful darling” He spoke softly in her ear before placing a kiss to her temple “I love you cara and I’m right here with you” Ally smiled and turned in his arms “I love you too Dem”
The following day Carlisle comes to check on Ally bringing her some blood bags, Esme coming with him. Alice and Jasper come by shortly afterwards “Congratulations you two” Alice says grinning wide, gently hugging Ally then Demetri. “You know you’re going to have to stop sending human/vampire couples to Isle Esme for their honeymoon, right mom? Because we’re currently two for two. There’s obviously ‘something’ about that place” Jasper says laughing; Esme smiles but doesn’t answer him as Carlisle and Demetri choke back a laugh “Yea, mom and Marcus are not allowed to go to Isle Esme together whilst she’s still human” Ally says pointing at Carlisle and Esme; both of them nodding at her smiling.
The following morning Demetri, Ally and Felix are watching TV and Demetri is making sure Ally drinks the cup of blood Carlisle bought by as she’s snuggled up beside him. “Hi sweetie, just me. Thought we could catch up” Jane said as she entered the room. “Sounds good” Ally replies “So what happened with you and Felix after we left for Rio? I mean you two were dancing all evening together” Ally asks curiously. “Felix walked me back to me room at the end of the night and kissed me goodnight. It wasn’t entirely unpleasant” Jane replies with a little smile “Aww. That’s so sweet” Ally says smiling at Jane and Felix. “That goodnight kiss became two…which then led to something more intimate” Felix said smiling; Jane looked at her hands, if she was human she’d be blushing “See Dem I told you there was something between them” Ally says nudging Demetri’s arm “Just because they spent the night together it doesn’t mean they’re actually together though” He says eyeing Felix who just smirks at him “He held me in his arms afterwards, like how Demetri holds you when you sleep” Jane says quietly “Aww so does this mean…” Ally started but stopped when Felix wrapped his arms around Jane and she snuggled into his side “Told you” Ally whispers low in Demetri’s ear; Demetri smiles “Wonder what Alec thinks about the two of you” He muses “I think it’s funny that Jane still pain drops his ass despite them being intimate with one another” Alec answers smiling, entering the room.
“How’s Ally doing?” Felix asked as he entered Demetri’s room a few nights later “She’s doing ok. Carlisle said she’s handling the pregnancy better than Bella did, but I think that’s due to Carlisle knowing what to expect this time around. I mean Ally has been drinking blood since we got back whereas apparently it took them about a week before they realised that Bella needed to drink blood to get her through it” “Well that’s good at least. You’re lucky Carlisle extended his stay with us” Felix replied “Yea, I don’t think it was luck, I think it was Alice” Demetri said smiling looking down Ally asleep in his arms “You think she knew?” “Yes Fe, I think at some point whilst we were away, she had a vision and told Carlisle. He called me just after I found her passed out; asked me if she was ok. He seemed too calm and wasn’t surprised by her symptoms, in fact he had a supply of blood bags ready and waiting for her” “Never thought of it like that before, either way it’s a good thing they’re here” Felix added, Demetri nodded.
Demetri, Felix and Alec had to go on a mission to deal with a few rogues in Spain and were gone for two days; so Ally decided to use some of this time to google baby names; writing down some ideas to discuss with Demetri when he got back.
The night he returns home Demetri and Alyssa sit and discuss baby names in front of the fire “We need to have a think about baby names” Demetri said looking at Ally. “I’m already ahead of you. I had a think about baby names whilst you were away and decided that I’d like to honour your Greek heritage; so I googled Greek names and for a girl I wrote down my three favourite; Catalina – it means chaste / pure, Olena – means torch of light and Sirena – meaning enchantress. My favourite three for a boy are; Galen – it means calm / peaceful, Nikolaos – means victor of people and Xander – means defender of man. What do you think?” She asks holding his hands in hers “Wow! You have given it some thought and it means a lot to me that you want to honour my Greek heritage. I quite like Catalina for a girl and Galen for a boy” Demetri responded smiling “We really are made for each other” Demetri looks at her eyebrow raised “Those were my favourite names from the list too. Did you have any ideas?” “No, that’s why I thought we could discuss baby names, but we have our favourites now.” Demetri replied smiling. “Ok then but for now it’s Baby Volturi” Ally said placing a hand on her baby bump; one of Demetri’s hands doing the same.
Later that night Demetri held Ally in his arms as she slept ‘I can’t believe I’m going to be a dad’ he thought to himself smiling. Ally was woken up by the baby moving about “Oh” She said rolling over feeling the baby kick “Give me your hand Demi” She says placing his hand on her belly “What are you…” He was cut off when he felt the baby kick his hand; Ally looked over to see shock then happiness wash over his face. The baby kicked again “Not sure he’s a fan of your cold hands” She laughed “Or maybe he’s just saying hi to daddy, isn’t that right little one?” Demetri says to her belly and the baby kicks again “See daddy was right” He sounded a bit smug; he then proceeded to talk to the baby quietly whilst Ally went back to sleep, telling the baby all about how he met mommy, how he’s looking forward to meeting him and how he will love and protect them both forever.
Ally woke up to find Demetri on his laptop beside her in bed “Morning mi amore. Sleep well?” “Morning Demi. Mmm once the baby stopped kicking” She replied “What are up to?” “Looking online at cribs, never realised there were so many to choose from, but I like this one. It’s light brown in colour so it will go well in the nursery. It’s easy to assemble and turns into bed when they’re old enough to need one” He replies “That sounds great Demi” “Glad you like it as it arrives the day after tomorrow”
They turned the empty room opposite theirs into a nursery for the baby; everyone lending a hand to get everything ready for the baby’s arrival. The walls were painted cream and Esme and Ally painted a jungle themed mural on one wall complete with tigers. Alice and Jasper bought a pair of big stuffed elephants that sat in a corner near some brightly coloured building blocks “We couldn’t decide between the blue or beige elephant so we bought both” Alice said smiling “Of course you did” Ally replied smiling. Demetri assembled the crib and the chest of drawers on his own refusing any help but he let Felix put the shelves up when Felix declared it was his ‘duty’ as uncle to help get the room prepared.
Renee and Ally celebrated Christmas with Marcus and Demetri by watching Christmas movies together whilst Renee and Ally ate a small Christmas dinner, although Ally had to drink a glass of blood afterwards in order to satisfy the baby’s need “Sorry mom, this must seem weird to you” Ally said low apologising to Renee “Don’t apologise. I get it the baby needs blood; he is half vampire after all. I’m just looking forward to meeting the little one” Renee replies smiling “I think it’s time we exchanged presents” Marcus said handing Renee two beautifully wrapped presents; the first one being a deep blue knee length short sleeve dress, the second being a first edition copy of her favourite book ‘Pride and Prejudice’ “Thank you Marcus, the dress is gorgeous and I love the book” She kisses his lips “This is for you. I hope you like it” Renee said handing him his gift; a copy of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ “It’s perfect mi amore” Marcus said giving Renee a kiss “I noticed your copy was looking a bit battered and I wasn’t sure what else to get you” She replied smiling. Demetri handed Ally a beautifully wrapped box and inside was mosaic photo frame with the word ‘Family’ across the top “I thought we could put pictures of us and the baby in it. I hear humans do that sort of thing” He said looking at Ally with a big grin “We do and it’s a great idea, thank you” She kissed his lips and gave him a hug before passing him his gift; ‘First Time Parent’ parenting book “Figured it would help you and Felix out whilst I’m going through my transformation” She said smiling wide; Renee and Marcus trying not to laugh “I love it thank you. I must confess I bought a parenting book myself a few days ago” He responded wrapping his arms around her “I have no idea how to take care of a baby so I’m hoping your mom helps too” He added looking at Renee “Of course I’ll help that’s what Nanas are for” She replied smiling and snuggled into Marcus’ side.
Everyone gathered on the castle roof to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks that were being let off around the city “Happy New Year mi amore” Demetri whispered in Ally’s Ear “Happy New Year to you too” She leant up placing a kiss to his lips.
January 6th – Baby Volturi’s arrival.
Carlisle and Jasper had turned one of the guest rooms into a make-shift hospital room ready for Ally’s caesarean. That morning Demetri was fussing over Ally “How are you? Do you need anything? How’s the baby?” “Demi calm down, I’m fine; the baby’s fine, the only thing I need is you. Come and sit with me…I need a hug” She replied patting the space beside her on the sofa; he sat beside her and gently held her burying his nose in her hair letting her scent calm him. A few hours later Demetri and Ally made their way to the room Carlisle had set up for them; he and Renee were waiting for them “How are you today Ally?” Carlisle asked as Demetri helped her get comfortable on the bed “I’m ok thanks, just a little nervous” She answered low “You’ll be ok, I promise. You’ve handled your pregnancy a lot better than Bella handled hers, but then I knew what to expect this time” He said reassuringly “I’ll be here with you the entire time amore” Demetri says softly stroking her hair and placing a kiss to her forehead. Renee was acting as the nurse as Demetri didn’t want any other vampires in the room with them due to the blood. “Dem you can wait outside if you need to; please don’t make yourself uncomfortable” Ally squeezes his hand a little “Ally I’m fine and there is nowhere else I would rather be right now” Demetri kisses the back of her hand his eyes closed; his forehead resting gently against hers, Renee watching them with a big smile on her face ‘He truly does love and adore her’ she thinks to herself. The silence in the room is broken with the soft cries of a baby “Congratulations it’s a healthy baby girl” Carlisle says handing the baby to Demetri.
Demetri looked down at his newborn daughter in his arms and the first thing he noticed was her blue eyes…his blue eyes; the blue eyes he lost when he became immortal. He fell in love for the second time in his long life “Hello little one, I’m your daddy and I love you so very much. I will protect you and your mommy forever” He placed a kiss to her forehead and breathed in her scent then looking up at his mate he smiled “Thank you. You’ve given me something I never thought I’d have in this life, a family. I think I love you more now than ever Ally” He leant down capturing her lips in a soft kiss “I didn’t do it on my own handsome; she’s fifty percent you, so thank you to you too.” She said smiling before kissing him “I love you so much Demi”
“Sorry to interrupt the lovely moment but I think there’s another one” Carlisle says looking at Demetri. Demetri's eyes widen in shock. “Santo cazzo…” He breathed, the swear word slipping out effortlessly. Carlisle's eyebrows raised, but he didn't say anything. "There's…there's two..?? You're telling me I have two children..?" Demetri added, an awed smile appearing on his face as he exchanged a glance with Ally. She looked just as blindsided as he felt in that moment. He couldn’t believe it; he had been blessed with not just one, but two beautiful children, to help carry on his bloodline.
“Let me hold her Dem” Ally asked and he passed her their daughter to hold. Carlisle then handed Demetri his newborn son; who had Ally’s chocolate brown eyes. Demetri looked down at his son and fell in love for the third time in his long life “Hello son, I’m your daddy and I love you so very much” He held him close; his eyes filling with venom “I’ll protect you forever too” Demetri placed a kiss to his head; breathing in his scent “He’s perfect. They’re both perfect. Thank you Ally, mi amore.” He kissed her lips softly “He’s fifty percent you too Demi” Ally chuckled.
Carlisle stitched Ally up leaving her with a neat scar and administered some morphine for the pain. “Thank you Carlisle. I really appreciate everything you have done for us” Demetri said shaking his hand “You’re very welcome. I’m glad things worked out for you both” Carlisle replied smiling.
There’s a knock at the door “Only us” Esme says and she and Marcus enter the room “Hi Ally, how are you?” Esme asks “I’m ok thanks to Carlisle, mom and Demi” She replies “Would you like to meet our grandchildren Marcus?” Renee asks “I would love…wait…grandchildren?” He asks surprised “Yes master; Ally and I have son and a daughter” Demetri replies, smiling proudly “Congratulations my dear boy” Marcus smiled wide shaking his hand “And you Ally my dear are most amazing. Congratulations” He kisses her forehead “Thank you Marcus” Ally says smiling. Marcus moves to stand by Renee who is now holding their granddaughter; Demetri sits beside Ally as he passes their son to her. “Have you decided on their names?” Esme asked curious “Well we had a boy’s name and a girl’s name picked out ready as we didn’t know what we were having, so I suppose we can use both names now. Demetri would you like to tell them?” Ally asked smiling; Demetri nodded and smiled back “I’d like to introduce you all to our son Galen Volturi and our daughter Catalina Volturi” “Beautiful names and Greek if I’m not mistaken” Esme replies “Thank you. Ally wanted to honour my Greek heritage so she googled Greek baby names” Demetri replied smiling “I love the names you’ve chosen” Renee adds smiling.
Carlisle carried Ally carefully back to her and Demetri’s shared room so Demetri could turn her whilst Renee and Esme cleaned and dressed the twins, staying in the guest room with them whilst Demetri and Ally spent a little bit of time together before he changed her “I’ll be in the hallway if you need me Demetri” Carlisle said “Thank you.”
Demetri climbed on the bed carefully beside Ally and wrapped his arm around her “I just want to hold you once more before I turn you. I’m going to miss hearing your heartbeat when I hold you and when you sleep bedside me. I’m also going to miss your warmth. I love you so much Ally.” “I love you too” Ally responds; he unwraps his arm from her and positions himself so he is hovering above her, leaning down he kisses her neck, venom collecting in his mouth before biting her; letting his venom flow through her system, he then licks the wound to close it. “I’ll see you in a few days mi amore” He kisses her lips and rests his forehead against hers “I love you.”
Esme and Renee bring the twins to Demetri’s room and place them in the crib together “I’m going to have to get another crib as soon as possible, now there’s two babies” Demetri said “In fact we’re going to have a second set of everything” He continued “It was definitely a surprise when Carlisle said there was a second baby” Renee added “Would you like us to change Ally into something different?” Esme asks “Yes, if you wouldn’t mind. There’s a green sleeveless dress hanging up in her closet” Demetri replies. Renee and Esme change Ally into the dress and brush her hair out before leaving and going back to their rooms “I’ll be back a little later to help with the twins” Renee says as she gets ready to leave “Thank you Renee, I’d appreciate that” He replies.
Just as Renee and Esme leave Felix comes to see Demetri “”Hey Fe come meet my beautiful children” He said pride evident in his voice “Children as in plural?” Felix sounded shocked; Demetri chuckled “Yes Fe, Ally had twins. I have a son and a daughter and they’re gorgeous… perfect, like their mom” “Congratulations D. Our little human really is amazing” Felix replied looking at Ally and smiling “She not our little human any more Fe. She’s going through her transformation” “She’s still amazing and looks so peaceful D” “Carlisle gave her some morphine after her caesarean so that’s helping with the initial part of the transformation” Demetri smiled lovingly at Ally.
Meanwhile Ally is going through her transformation; ‘I felt Demi kiss my neck before he bit me letting his venom enter my system…the initial pain...wow! I know that mom and Esme changed me into a clean dress following my caesarean. It feels like my body is on fire; every nerve ending burns with his venom. I can feel my blood being replaced with venom; Demi’s venom. This is too much…I-I can’t do this.’ “I love you cara mia” She hears Demetri’s voice. ‘I can do this; I must do this… for Demi; for Galen and…Catalina.’ She not tries writhe too much despite the pain she is in; knowing that Demetri would feel bad enough, as he is the reason she is in this much pain.
On the second day of Ally’s transformation Demetri and Felix were holding the twins whilst watching The Hunger Games when they noticed Ally’s heartbeat slowing down “I know Bella completed her transformation in two days but I didn’t expect Ally to do the same” Demetri said looking over his shoulder “Carlisle did say that is was possible and let’s face it the fact they were both prepared for their change probably helps speed up the process for them” Felix says nodding in her direction. They decide to take the twins to Renee’s room “Can you watch them for me please? I think Ally’s going to wake up today and I’d like to take her hunting before she sees them again” Demetri asks “Of course I can, just come and find us when you’re ready” Renee responds smiling “Hello little ones, ready to spend the day with Nana and Grandpa?” The twins cooed in response.
Demetri returned to his and Ally’s shared room and stood at the balcony doors looking out over the garden; waiting for Ally to wake up as her heart beat had slowed right down now so he knew it would be soon. Ally’s heart stopped beating; the room now completely silent and Demetri looked over his shoulder to see her open her now red eyes. She could see everything more clearly; her eyes scanning the room and they fell on Demetri and she smiled wide, getting off the bed and running into his arms hugging him close “Oomph. You’re a lot stronger than I am now amore. It’s your turn not to break me” Demetri said into her ear “Sorry Demi” She pulled back a little and he took her in; eyes looking her up and down “Stunning baby” He ran his fingers through her hair that was now longer, brighter and fuller than before. He leans down and kisses her lips; his hands cupping her face “I love you Demi” She kisses him “I love you too” “How are the twins?” She asks “They’re amazing cara mia and so gorgeous” He smiles wide “Can I see them?” “I want to take you hunting first. Come on” He takes her hand in his and they make their way out of the castle, luckily it’s a cloudy day so they don’t have to worry about being exposed.
They leave Volterra to go hunting; Ally noticing every little thing as they run together including how fast Demetri is. He stops running and turns to catch her in his arms; Ally coming to a stop in his embrace. “Close your eyes and listen, tell me what you can hear” She closed her eyes and focused on listening to her surroundings. “I can hear faint chatter of people below; birds in the trees, traffic in the distance. It’s amazing Dem” “You’ve focused really well cara. Come with me and I’ll show you how to hunt. Stay close”
Ten minutes later they’re standing on the roof a building looking down at an alleyway that was about 5 minute walk from a bar. “Keep your eyes on those two” Demetri said pointing to a couple of drunks leaving the bar and making their way towards the alleyway; he took her hand in his “Jump with me cara” They landed silently in the alleyway below; Ally caught the scent of the couple and squeezed Demetri’s hand tightly “It’s ok cara. I’ve got you” She nods and brings her other hand to her throat feeling the burn “Not long now amore, just do as I do” He kisses her temple and releases her hand as the two men enter the alley and make their way towards them; once they are near enough she hears Dem say “Now amore” She watches as he grabs the man and sinks his teeth into his neck, the other goes to run but Ally is quicker and grabs him around the throat holding him to her chest and bites down on his neck, the warm blood flowing down her throat easing the burn. When she had drained the human she released him and he fell to the ground “Well done amore” Demetri says smiling and kisses her “Are you still thirsty?” “Thank you babe and just a little” She kisses him back “Let’s dispose of these two and then we’ll find you someone else.” Demetri snaps their necks and throws the couple into the nearby river and watches as the bodies wash away. “Come on cara” He takes her hand in his and they make their way towards another part of the city where they ‘share’ a human before disposing of them “You were amazing cara. You were fast, efficient and they were very clean kills for a newborn. I’m so proud of you” He wraps his arm around her, pulling her to his chest and kisses her “I learnt from the best” She kissed him back “Let’s go home” She laced her fingers with his and they made their way back to the castle.
They arrive back at the castle to find Felix and the twins waiting for them “How did our little newborn do?” Felix asks “She did great. She was fast, efficient and very clean for a newborn” Demetri replies his face and voice full of pride “Well done sweetie” Jane says smiling “Yes well done Ally. I must say you seem very calm for a newborn” Alec sounded impressed “Hopefully Aro will be just as pleased with you after the next tour” Felix adds; Demetri continues to look down at her with adoration, feeling proud of his mate “You think they’ll let me join the next ‘tour’?” She asks “Yes, especially once they hear how well you did on your first hunt” Felix replied.
Demetri and Ally make their way back to their room stopping by Marcus and Renee’s room to collect the twins “You look amazing my dear” Marcus says smiling at Ally “Thank you Marcus…or is it master now?” She replied “Marcus will do my dear” He smiled at her; Renee stayed seated on the sofa waiting for Ally to approach her “Hi mom” Ally sat beside her and carefully wrapped her arms around her “Hi baby girl” Renee replies hugging her back “Thank you for helping Demi with the twins” “No need to thank me that’s what Nanas are for. I’m looking forward to watching them grow up and spending forever with you all” “Me too mom” Ally replies smiling. “I’m impressed with her self-control Demetri, I must confess I was little worried how she’d be around Renee” Marcus said too low for Ally and Renee to hear “Thank you master. She also did amazingly well on her first hunt; she was fast, efficient and they were clean kills” He added smiling; Marcus chuckled and Demetri looked at him with an eyebrow raised “I think you’d be proud of Ally no matter what she was like as a newborn. I mean she could kill the postman tomorrow and you still be smiling and telling us all how proud of her you are” Demetri laughed too “You’re right master, I would be proud either way, but you know I’d cover for her, take responsibility for her” He said looking at Marcus “And that my dear boy is why we are allowing her to stay with us during her newborn phase. We know that you would take care of any ‘slip ups’ before they became an issue and so would Felix, Jane and Alec. She is also a new mom and we couldn’t separate her from you and the babies” Marcus replies “I’m guessing it also helps that Ally is now your step-daughter?” Demetri asks “It does. Your loyalty, your position as an elite guard and you being my personal bodyguard also went in her favour” Marcus added smiling “I have always thought of you as a son and now you are officially my son-in-law. We have a family to protect now” Marcus placed a hand on Demetri’s shoulder and nodded to the seating area where Ally and Renee were holding Galen and Catalina “Thank you master, that means a lot coming from you” Demetri responded “You can call me Marcus when we are not ‘working’ Demetri” “Ok, that’s going to take a little getting used to master…I mean Marcus” Demetri said smiling.
Once back in their room Demetri sat on the sofa beside Ally holding their daughter in his arms “I don’t care how quickly my little girl grows up; she’s not dating till she’s like 30, and even then if I don’t like him he’s gone” He said to Ally who was holding their son in her arms. “Now Dem, come on. You remember what it was like when my sister disapproved of you…of us” She replied “Yes I do. You stayed with me anyway. Hell you even left home at 17 and married me… gave me two beautiful children” He replied smirking but that smirk faded quickly when he realised what he just said “Annnnnd…there it is” Ally replied smirking and snuggled up to him “Oh Sshh you” He said pouting, kissing her hair.
Once they put the twins to bed they cuddled up on the sofa and watched a film together “Just for the record though I don’t regret anything and I am proud to be your wife and the mother of your children” “Glad to hear it mi amore as I am proud to be your husband and the father of your children in return”
Ally’s hand made its way down Demetri’s stomach fingertips brushing over his crotch and down his thigh then back up to his crotch cupping him and squeezing gently; he growled low “You like that?” She purred and repeated her action before climbing onto his lap straddling him, placing her hands on his cheeks she captured him in a passionate kiss; she bit his lip gently as she grinded against his hardening cock, his lips parting allowing her to deepen the kiss tongues dancing together. ‘He tastes better than I remember’ she thought to herself and started to unbutton his shirt her hands moving over his chest nails lightly scratching him; a light growl left him and he reached over and ripped off the dress she was wearing “Hey! I liked that dress” “I’ll buy you two new ones cara” He said smiling before getting off the sofa and laying her down on the rug in front of the fireplace; removing his trousers, boxers and her lace panties before settling himself between her legs. She wrapped her legs around him then rolled them over so she was on top and removed her bra “I’ll be gentle with you. I promise” She smiled and winked at him “You’d better” He winked back.
“Remember the last time we were in this position with you on top?” He asks smiling; she smiled back at him, and if she had still been human, she would've blushed for sure. "Oh, I remember..." She answered, gazing down at him. He smirked, his eyes taking in all of his mate's glorious beauty. "God, look at you, Ally..." He breathed, in awe. She bit back another smile, and he laughed softly. "What? Say it, amore." He coaxed gently. She gestured at him lovingly. "Me? Look at YOU, Dem... You're beautiful... I mean…" She said, quickly becoming a little flustered. He laughed again, taking her hands in his. "No, it's okay; I know what you meant..." He reassured her. "Come here, amore..." He added, his red eyes darkening slightly. Ally let a sharp little gasp escape her as she finally, finally lowered herself down onto her mate. Oh, sweet heavens alive, did he feel amazing...! She let out a soft groan at the same time Demetri did, as every last little part of her was now completely claimed by him. "Jesus, Ally..." Demetri said in a ragged, breathless whisper. "I know, Dem... I know…" She answered, moving her hips against his. As she looked down into those dark ruby eyes of his, he gave her a sudden knowing little smile. "What?" She asked, her own crimson irises sparkling with humour. "Just... We're the same temperature now, baby." He remarked, smirking up at her. Ally's eyes widened as she realized he was right: what was once ice, and cold and somewhat foreign to her before, was now warmth, and heat and just... Home. Comfortable, perfect, made for her in every way and shape, possible.
She bit her lip as she looked down at him. He gazed back up at her, his complete love and awe of her newfound immortal soul reflected in his eyes. "Yes, we are... it's perfect. You’re perfect..." She murmured, leaning down to kiss him. He kissed her back with fervour, urgency, a heat that he'd had to hold back on a little bit, when she was still human. But now that Ally was immortal, well... all bets were off. As his tongue intertwined with hers, he let out a shaky breath, her name escaping his lips in a soft moan. She kissed him harder in response, at the same time moving her hips forward on him so he entered her a little bit deeper than before. The new angle caused a groan to escape both of them; the sensations and heightened awareness was all too much, but in the most delicious way. Her head fell back, eyes closed and lips parted slightly as she continued to move her hips over his; his hands trailing up her sides and taking her breasts in his hands squeezing lightly “Ahh” She breathed her hands resting on his chest; her entire body alight from the lightest of touches, he gently thrusted up into her hitting a new spot inside her that had her crying out his name “Demi” He thrusted up into her again as she grinded against him; letting out a hiss as her walls clenched around him, Ally quickened her pace as she chased her release “That’s it baby….” He encouraged feeling his release was close too. Demetri moved one hand down her body until he reached her clit pinching and circling the bundle of nerves and watched in awe as she experienced her first orgasm as a newborn. Ally felt Demetri pull her over the edge and into the abyss; her entire body tingling from head to toe “Oh…God…Yes!” She cried out; Demetri’s release followed “Oh…Ally…”
He sat up still inside her holding her close as he thrusted up into her; riding out their orgasms together. She wrapped her arms around him kissing his neck teeth grazing over his skin before she bit down on his neck and he let out a cry of ecstasy feeling her venom tingle against his neck “You’re mine” She purred in his ear; pride filling him to know she had marked him, claimed him as hers, the way he had marked her, claimed her as his when she was still human. “I thought my first time with you as a human was amazing…but god that was…” “I know baby” He kissed her softly holding her closer to him.
He laid her down on the rug and pulling almost all the way out of her; he ran his hand up her thigh holding her leg to his side as he re-entered her filling her fully, deeply, completely being at one with her. He roughly thrusted into her capturing her lips with his muffling her cry; her nails scratching up his back as he continued to take her roughly, growling into her ear “Sweet Jesus…Ally!” Him enjoying being able to be with his mate intimately without the fear of hurting her “I’m never going to get enough of you baby” He left a trail of open-mouthed kisses along her neck, his teeth grazing her skin “How is that different to when I was human Demi?” She chuckled; he growled in response and thrusted a little rougher that time; a breathless moan leaving their lips as they came together, their orgasms washing over them entirely.
He pulled the blanket down off the sofa and placed it over them as he held her in his arms “This is the part where you would normally fall asleep” He said low “I can always pretend to sleep…if you’d like” She replied winking at him “Don’t you dare amore. I’m only holding you to be a gentleman Ally” He winked at her “I plan to take you again…seeing as you no longer need to sleep” She gasped slightly as he re-entered her “I was hoping you’d take me again” She purred in his ear.
In A World Like That Ch. 3
Magnus and Alec have been pushed into their TWI roles by a meddling demon who feeds on their happiness. It puts them in a deep sleep and the only way to get out there is to find each other in TWI and fall in love. If they can do that, they will automatically fall out of the magical slumber the demon has placed them under. Otherwise, they fall into an eternal sleep. It’s upto Malec to find their way back to each other. It is set after the TWI episode in the show, so they have met each other once already. Here is the masterlist. My AO3: malecplusotherthings
A/N: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY WRITING PARTNER AND ONE OF THE BEST PEOPLE I HAVE MET ON THIS @thatwinchestergirl67. EVERYBODY GO AND SPAM HER WITH BIRTHDAY WISHES.
Warnings: swearing, TWI characters, angst obviously, some fluff, slight show divergence, suggestive dialogue
Magnus could not stop thinking about the incidents that had occurred at the Institute the night before. He woke up, hoping it had all just been a bad dream. Upon realising that he had in fact frozen and run out on what was probably his only shot with Alexander, he buried his face in his pillow and let out a muffled scream. Great fucking job, Magnus. Trying his best to ignore his thoughts about the piercing blue eyes that he was falling for, he lifted himself off his bed and attempted to get dressed for the day. He set aside a large pot of coffee and began to make himself breakfast. He was thankful that it was a Sunday because he definitely did not have the mental capacity to be at work with Alexander on his mind. Well, he will probably never want to see you again so at least you can’t make a fool out of yourself in front of him twice. Magnus’ attention was soon diverted from his thoughts and his food when his phone began to ring.
“Cat, I know you want me to get coffee with your friends but today is my only day off and I’d much rather stay in.” Magnus complained over the phone.
“Well, I’m not Cat, but I would absolutely love to go grab a coffee with you.” Oh, no. Magnus knew that voice. It was Alec’s.
“Oh um hi, Alexander. I was expecting a call from a friend. I’m sorry.” Magnus heard Alec chuckle on the other end.
“It’s alright, Mags.” Mags? “I just wanted a chance to talk to you.”
“Oh. You wanna come over later today? I can text you my address.” Magnus said without thinking. He had no idea where this confidence was coming from, but after last night, he was thankful.
“Sounds perfect. I will see you then, sweetheart.” Magnus could most definitely see Alec smirking behind the phone. Did I just invite this man on a date? In a state of extreme panic, he called Catarina, hoping she would pick up. As soon as she did, he screamed.
“Magnus, what have you done now?”
“Alexander.”
“I’m sorry?”
“I mean I didn’t do Alexander….but I may have accidentally asked him out.”
“How do you accidentally ask somebody out? No, wait. I changed my mind. I don’t wanna know.” Cat sighed. “Look, if you’re having second thoughts, just tell him. I’m sure he’ll understand.”
“That’s the thing. I need your help to prepare for the date, not to cancel it.” He could hear Catarina’s voice perk up.
“I may not fully approve of Alec, but I have been waiting to hear you say those words for a very long time. I will be right over.”
Catarina came by almost instantly and made a bee-line for Magnus’ closet. After much deliberation, she pulled out a pair of dark purple pants that Magnus didn’t even know he had and a simple lilac sweater. Catarina had paired them together so effortlessly as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. But to her credit, the outfit she had put together was, in fact, better than possibly anything Magnus had ever worn before. Maybe he should dress like this more often.
“Now for your hair.” Catarina said, putting some sort of gel on his head. Magnus could have sworn that he saw some glitter in there. After what felt like hours, Magnus’ look was complete. He had to admit that he looked better than he ever had before. He smiled, looking at himself in the mirror. He gave Catarina a quick hug.
“Just don’t do anything I wouldn’t do, Magnus.” She warned as she left. Magnus looked over to his watch. Alec would be here any minute. Magnus swiftly hid all the trash under his bed and cleared the dining table. He rushed to the door as he heard the bell go off. You don’t waste any time, do you, Alexander? As Magnus opened the door, he was greeted by a smiling Alec. He was dressed in a comfortable black hoodie and black jeans. In his hands were takeout containers. Magnus couldn’t understand what it was but this casual outfit made him look more handsome than any of his branded clothes ever could. Magnus smiled a little to himself. Alec made his way over to the dining table and set down the food.
“You look really nice, Magnus. Were you going somewhere?” Oh no, this isn’t really a date, is it?
“Uh, yeah.” He could have sworn he saw Alec’s face fell. Did he want me to dress up for him? Magnus quickly dismissed the thought.
“Magnus, look, I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have flirted with you like that. Clearly, it’s not something you are into. It’s just that I’ve never felt this way about anyone. I know I have a reputation of being some sort of a heartbreaker but you, Magnus, have unlocked something in me. Something so new but so fucking exciting.” Magnus stood their speechless, unsure of what he should say. He grabbed a chair and sat opposite Alexander.
“You know I had a plan for my life. I thought I knew what I was doing. But then you came along and threw me off. You confuse me, Alexander. It’s not that I don’t like you flirting with me. It’s just that I’m not sure I’m ready for it. I’m...I’m sorry, Alexander.” Magnus regretted saying those words but between all his work, he certainly didn’t have time for a relationship. And Alec didn’t deserve that. Alec deserved to be with somebody who could make time for him. Somebody who could make him happy.
“I don’t expect you to feel what I feel. I know you’re confused. So am I. But I just want you to know that I will be here if you ever need me.” Alec got up and dusted his hoodie. “Have a good day, Magnus.”
***
Alec woke up early the next morning but stayed in his bed, thinking about the events that had occurred the night before. He could help but feel guilty for putting Magnus on the spot like that. He sighed as he sat straight up and pulled out a piece of paper from the table at the side of his bed. On that paper, in neat and elegant cursive, was the name Magnus Bane. Under that was a phone number, which Alec assumed was Magnus’. Magnus had dropped this behind himself when he rushed out of the Institute the night before. Alec took a deep breath to calm his nerves, picked up the phone and dialed the number. Normally, Alec never felt nervous about calling somebody. Or guilty about flirting with them. He always believed that if somebody didn’t want him, that was their fault. But Magnus had changed all of that. His intense golden eyes made Alec feel so many different things all at once. As he sat daydreaming about those cat-like orbs, he almost didn’t notice when Magnus had picked up the phone.
“Cat, I know you want me to get coffee with your friends but today is my only day off and I’d much rather stay in.” Magnus said before Alec even had the chance to open his mouth.
“Well, I’m not Cat, but I would absolutely love to go grab a coffee with you.” Alec smiled like a thirteen year old school-girl, knowing Magnus won’t be able to see him.
“Oh um hi, Alexander. I was expecting a call from a friend. I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright, Mags. I just wanted a chance to talk to you.” And also I fucking miss you.
“Oh. You wanna come over later today? I can text you my address.” That caught Alec off guard. He wasn’t expecting Magnus to be forward.
“Sounds perfect. I will see you then, sweetheart.” He replied, trying not to let the excitement in his voice betray his feelings. He lifted himself off the bed and headed to get himself some breakfast and get dressed for the day.
When Alec came out of the shower, he was dressed in an extremely casual outfit - black hoodie and jeans. His hair was a wet sloppy mess, constantly falling in his face.
“You know you should lock your door.” A voice came from behind Alec, causing him to jump. He turned to find his best friend, Simon, grinning at him.
“What the fuck, Si? You can’t just barge into my room like that. I could’ve been...indecent.” Alec said, trying to find the right choice of words.
“I would have been okay with that.”
“Simon! You are committed to my little sister. Why do I need to keep reminding you of that?”
“Not my fault you Lightwoods are so painfully beautiful all the time. Also, Magnus texted you. Said to come over in like an hour.” Simon said, waving Alec’s phone in his face. Alec lunged forward to grab it out of Simon’s hands.
“Don’t touch my things.” He mumbled as he made his way out the door.
Before Alec made his way to Magnus’ he stopped over at a sushi bar. He figured both him and Magnus could use some lunch while they were there. It’s still not a date, Alec. He picked up the food and went over to Magnus’ place. As he climbed the stairs that led to the apartment, he realised that he was still in his hoodie and jeans, not having had the time to change into something with a bit more of a flair. Using the front camera on his phone, he fixed his hair as best he could. He steadied himself and rang the bell.
When Magnus opened the door, Alec’s jaw dropped to the floor. He was dressed in a beautiful purple themed outfit, with glitter in his hair. Alec had never seen Magnus dressed in such a manner. While he absolutely enjoyed a dorky Magnus in his big black glasses, this was certainly a welcome change.
“You look really nice, Magnus. Were you going somewhere?” Alec asked as he set the food down on Magnus’ table.
“Uh, yeah.” Alec’s face fell. But why are you upset, Alec? You knew this wasn’t a date.
“Magnus, look, I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have flirted with you like that. Clearly, it’s not something you are into. It’s just that I’ve never felt this way about anyone. I know I have a reputation of being some sort of a heartbreaker but you, Magnus, have unlocked something in me. Something so new but so fucking exciting.” Alec blurted out, instinctively. The silence he received made him even more anxious. He tried to search Magnus’ face for some kind of response.
“You know I had a plan for my life. I thought I knew what I was doing. But then you came along and threw me off. You confuse me, Alexander. It’s not that I don’t like you flirting with me. It’s just that I’m not sure I’m ready for it. I’m...I’m sorry, Alexander.” Why the fuck does this hurt so much? Alec tried to suppress his feelings. He tried to fight the pain that seemed to have settled in his chest. Alec cared about Magnus. Perhaps more than he would care to admit. He wanted Magnus to be happy. He knew better than to try to coerce Magnus into something he didn’t want.
“I don’t expect you to feel what I feel. I know you’re confused. So am I. But I just want you to know that I will be here if you ever need me. Have a good day, Magnus.”
