It was weird.

Ever since joining the team last season, Mapi had been a constant in your everyday life, and one day to the next, she was gone. She didn’t die, duh, but she was injured. And while a lot of people on the team injured themselves or sometimes just had to sit out – never Mapi.

She had taken you under her wing as soon as she saw you, but her plan of making you her accomplice didn’t work, as you were much too introverted to embarrass yourself in public like she intended to do.

Ingrid had always just scoffed at her girlfriend whenever she had sent you on a wild goose chase for something completely made up, while Maria would laugh at you. The Norwegian was always quick to solve the mysteries, pressing soft kisses on your forehead whenever you got annoyed, ignoring her girlfriend until she stopped.

While everyone on the team was great friends, even a family, the relationship between you and Mapi was just different and everybody knew that – which is also why everybody could see just how much it affected you that your favorite defender wasn’t there. Especially when you were in the starting eleven.

Ingrid had religiously been updating her girlfriend, reassuring her that you were in fact totally fine and not freaking out. But you weren’t fine.

The girls tried to help where they could – Lucy and Keira had picked you up from home, Pina sat next to you on the bus (Patri and Ona behind you, making for a very funny ride), Jana and Bruna had made you a new playlist that you were all listening to and Alexia did what she did best – she observed and helped when needed.

In the changing room, most things took their natural course as every girl had their slightly different routine and needs before a game.

You were so incredibly nervous. Making the starting eleven was big, especially for a club like Barcelona, but the team for the day was quite experienced, calming you down just a little. Esme looked just as nervous as you, she was a striker alongside you, making for a very young frontline.

Aitana saw you brushing your hair again and again and again, just to do absolutely nothing with it, just patting your own head in a calming manner. After three minutes she took pity – remembering that your older sister figure wasn’t there.

“No need to rip out hair Cari. Let me do it.”

The entire team had affectionally started to call you Cari in your first season – it was short for cariño, and you loved it.

As still as humanly possible you sat in your cubby, letting the ballon d'or winner do her thing, sometimes handing her a brush, a ponytail holder, or a bobby pin.

“I can’t do it like Maria, so I did something else. Do you like it, Cari?” She indeed had done a different hairstyle, but it was still braided out of your face and it looked cute.

“It’s perfect Tana, thank you!” The brunette couldn’t help but smile, seeing you come to life just a little more after such a simple action from her. In thanks you kissed her cheek, squeaking when Sandra poked you into your side, making all three of you laugh.

“Let me help you with your shirt.” The goalkeeper didn’t even wait for an answer, helping you tuck your shirt inside of the shorts – just like Mapi would do for you. “Thank you!”

Now you felt much more prepared and ready to take on FC Rosengård.

Walking in, instead of a mascot's hands you were holding Lucy’s who smiled at you so brightly that you couldn’t be sad anymore. “You’ll do her proud kid – don’t worry.”

The Brit had indeed been right. Mapi had been close to tears sitting next to Frido in the stands, as you scored an amazing goal in the second half, dedicating it to her, as you sprinted over to where they sat, pressing a kiss to your palm, and practically throwing it at her.

esmee and isabel are a very unexpected duo lol

when esmee first arrived, isabel was so excited because she was like ingrid in the way that her spanish was not very good. she decided that it would be her job to teach her spanish but often had to get ingrid to help because isabel's english wasn't perfect either (they speak in a weird combination of english, spanish and norwegian at home that nobody except the three of them can really comprehend - there's been some catalan in there as well now since isabel started school)

she likes to use esmee as a climbing frame because she's the only one who won't just melt and cuddle her. it means that whenever they're standing around on a pitch talking, isabel will stat climbing up esmee, refusing any help until she's happy on her shoulders.

now when ingrid and mapi mention going out together, isabel will be keen for it to happen because it means esmee will be looking after her which usually means they'll just drive around barcelona for ages blasting songs that they can sing along to and then stopping to get food and eating it on the beach. then they'll go home and watch a movie which is when isabel will fall asleep, usually on esmee's lap. esmee falls asleep soon after and that is how ingrid and mapi find them when they return.

on her first day of school, isabel met her best friend who happened to be dutch. she was very keen for esmee and her friend to meet and orchestrated the whole thing. she wasn't happy when it happened though because they started speaking in dutch and isabel couldn't understand. esmee thought it was funny until isabel's friend left and she was still upset. to fix it, esmee picked her up and cuddled her and told her that she would always be her favourite five year old no matter what. She didn't put her down until isabel was begging to let her feet touch the floor again.

Hullo, dropping by to my norwegian mutual bcus I'm in need of some expertise; I'm planning on changing one of my characters from japanese to norwegian once I get to his revamp (tryna lessen the excessive manga inspiration with my characters lol) and I am in need for suggestions for good male norwegian names for him. I gathered up some options, but wanted to ask you for ideas too :D

He's a countryside himbo who loves to cook, fish, likes penguins and would love to see them in nature someday, and carves wooden animals and paints them. Also his bf is a japanese witchboy from alternate world (Konjou, tho he goes by Clover now due to story reasons. Idk if you remember my Thorn Boy, im talking about his BF Jinchou lol)

He's basically the 'Just Some Guy' of this story, where majority of others are some mythical beings. I always felt that was his true calling over the overdramatic stuff his old story has lol

So yeah, any suggestions would be helpful if you got any!

Omg I'm so passionate about names you have no idea, this is so exciting! When it comes to Norwegian guy names a safe bet will always be a biblical name (think David, Simon, Thomas, Jonas, Daniel, Isaac, Jacob etc.), It's a guarantee that it'll be a believable "just some guy" name, but it also doesn't stand out that much as specifically Norwegian lol.

When it comes to the actual norse names (and norwegian forms of latin or greek names for that matter) there's a fine line between grandpa, 18th century priest, and what a normal dude in his 20s would be called. I think the line differs a bit from person to person, but usually the modern forms of the mythological names work well! Like Odin, Brage, Brede, Sindre, Trym, Sigmund and Sigurd are names of the top of my head stand out a bit, but would also fit a "just some guy" type as well haha. Tor is an old guy name in my head tho, not that it wouldn't work but I'd like to point out how weird it is that Odin isn't an old guy name? I know like three people my age named Odin (one of them had a friend named Ravn of all things). Loke is a horse name. Don't pick Loke.

Other than that we have Håvard, Øyvind/Eivind, and Espen (Espen Askeladd is the main character in pretty much every Norwegian fairytale btw, he's the guy who's not really special or anything but he comes out on top due to his wits and smarts so that's a pretty good one imo). I could obviously just continue with every name ever from here, but honestly I think it'll work no matter what you land on in the end!

I'm a bit patriotic rn cause yknow, 17. May and all lol, but I think the ones I've listed are pretty good, I'd especially say the more norse ones fit very well if the character's an outdoorsy type. That being said, Emil is a great name! The perfect "just some guy" name, I'd totally understand if you choose it cause it's a really great one that only the smartest and coolest people pick😌

iceland is finally in high school. his growth is coming in fits n spurts and hes passable as a high schooler now (the babyface kept working against him) which is soooo awesome. its the early 1800s. he gets a high class education at a 3~5 year boarding school for proper young men near copenhagen. only the best for denmarks favorite stepson. iceland is a booksmart kind of kid hes always been destined for academia. but unfortunately hes a shortking fish out of water that gets moderately bullied. but i think hes good with cold words to fire back so earns enough respect to not get wedgied or anything stupid. he also would go insane in a fistfight given the opportunity. but yes he isnt really there to make bougie connections w danish kids, this is about him and having this experience thats so trendy and cool right now, all the other young guys at his house aspire to do what he's doing. education is so cool and hes not very concerned about much else. he doesn't write to norway anymore. norway hasn't written to him much either. denmark reeeeally wants him to come to his home for christmas holidays and whatnot but he insists on going Home-home on his breaks. sorry denmark he doesn't enjoy family gatherings he wants to be alone ....

(they dont know anything) and ice is like ugh fine but im only drinking a little bit. he is of age to drink low percentage alcohol, no shots or anything. and they have fun and talk. nor is only good at talking when hes not sober and ice knows this. they talk ab a lot of nothing at all and it heals ices soul about 4%.

they drink after work more often. they only get that chance a couple times a year, usually with other people around. iceland is getting more comfortable with this, but hes still not around so often. hes far away and values his privacy and is still newly independent. he doesn't want to be or feel back under anyone's wing. he misses denmarks typical family christmas (now hosted every other year at swedens house) for a few years claiming to be overworked, needing the rest, and disliking travel around the holidays. those years are when den and nor show up on his doorstep on new years day breaking plates and shit. and they bring him leftover christmas cookies and presents. nations dont do xmas/bday presents every year to me, because thats way too much to think about when ur immortal and years go by quickkk ... but ice always gets presents because hes the youngest and they cant help themselves

Final thoughts: Not at all like Young Royals. Some themes overlap but what can you do when you're talking about celebrities in the social media era. I suggest giving it a watch. Stargirl 1.10 “Brainwave Jr.” is out now on DCU and I’m here to talk about it.

If you’ll remember from last week, we ended on the cliffhanger of Barbara walking in on Pat, Courtney, & the Staff, and now she’s going to have to learn the whole thing. From Promo it looks like a lot of drama is surrounding that, which is awesome. We can also see Courtney & Henry together in the thumbnail for today, which is probably going to be them having a bit of a spat with the rest of the JSA. I personally love drama episodes, and we know a lot more is happening than just drama, so I’m really excited to see what they have in store for us tonight.

The opening crawl is set to Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, which makes this the second time the song has shown up in the DCU shows (now here, and Hank & Dawn sang it back in Titans season 2). I wonder if someone in charge has a thing for the song or what. But following that up, we get to see Pat & Barbara meet! How cute!! We got the story back in episode 1 but now we get to actually see it. They both get a banana split but there’s only banana so they share it, that’s so fucking cute. The one het coupe I support. And then move into them telling Barbara and Courtney is out here like “oh that’s a broom” like seriously? Really Court? I love how Barbara is taking no shit during this conversation. Barbara “get outta here with that Starman is your dad bullshit” Whitmore, iconic. OH SHIT AND BARBARA FUCKING KICKS PAT OUT OMG! I am living for this omfg.

About two scenes later, Henry Sr mentions Jordan by name in his dreams, which really feels like conformation that Jordan did it to me. Then Jordan fucking shows up at the hospital like a bitch! What the hell man, just go die already. And now we see that there’s well over 3,300 of those VHS tapes Henry Sr was making, how obnoxious was that to move? “Merri the girl of 1,000 gimmicks,” was Henry’s mom a superhero??? MERRI’S BROTHER WAS STARMAN!?!? EXCUSE ME?!?!?!?! Hold on, I need a minute. Well, I’d say this is Henry’s motivation to try and work with the JSA.

This little scene with Pat & Mike is really sad. Mike is such a good kid, I love him. 

The Staff comes to see Courtney in her room, how cute. And then fucking dips off to the Garage by itself, and is clearly holding a grudge against Jordan, that’s awesome. The Staff is such a fun character. And then it comes to the hospital to fight Jordan & Henry Sr by itself! ICONIC!! Oop, now it’s frozen. Fuck. Anyway, the more Jordan talks, the more he sounds like a crazy Colonizer. And is Henry Jr only cowering from Jordan, or is he also cowering from his dad? 

The drama with the Whitmore family continues, Barb wants to move them both out of Blue Valley. And here comes Henry to fill in Courtney on the drama, and showcasing a new ability in the process. And thus kick-starting Henry’s involvement in the JSA and the team’s first real mission, only 10 episodes in! 

OMFG shit must be serious, Barbara emailed Sam (who comic fans know is a real piece of shit). And then later, when Jordan and his parents show up, and Barbara records what they say in Norwegian? Amazing. It seems she’s at least going to give Pat & Court the benefit of the doubt after seemingly doing some research on Starman. And further on, Sam has actually emailed her back! Are we gonna meet Sam Kurtis??

I don’t wanna talk to much about this lunch scene because there’s a lot of opinions. Yo & Rick are totally valid in their thoughts and feelings, but also, like, there’s bigger shit to worry about kids.

I do appreciate Henry Jr fighting back against Henry Sr. He, at least, is not cool with the whole supervillain killer thing, which is good. I am once again talking about how cool the CG is for Court’s staff. And Henry Jr is straight up going to sacrifice himself for the Starsquad??? Maybe we don’t hate him. If they can handle his redemption properly, I may be able to support it in the future. As long as this isn’t all of the redemption arc. 

WAIT HENRY SR KILLED HIS WIFE?!?! EXCUSE ME?!?!?! And now he’s threatening to kill his own son, real supervillain material. I’m glad Henry Jr is making the right choice though. And to see all of the Starsquad fighting so hard to help him, and Henry really apologizing for what he did to Yolanda. I’m glad it wasn’t a last minute “i love you” because that would be so unearned.

But at the same time, I want death to have consequences (unless it’s one of my loves, obviously, I’m fine with being a hypocrite for that). 

I have so many thoughts, I’m really not sure where exactly to begin (beyond what I’ve already been saying), but that’s all things we can address later.
