Prompt 12: “It hurts. My tummy hurts,” • Erling Haaland

“It hurts. My tummy hurts,” Your child whined holding their stomach and just overall looking so ill and in pain. They had been quieter than usual and not as playful so something was clearly wrong with them and now it was clear what, they were ill. It was only your child and Erling home right now since you were out running some errands so he was going to have to deal with all of this alone which he can do. He can deal with your child's illness alone and not get ill himself. He cannot risk getting ill right now.

Erling’s usual stoic face that he uses for the media dropped considerably and a soft smile came over his face. He does have emotions, he is not a robot. The amount of people that actually think Erling is actually like that is unbelievable but he’s honestly one of the softest people in the world especially when either you or your child is involved. He is protective and hates when anybody talks bad about either of you but other than that he is really soft and your child absolutely adores him and so do you, to be honest.

“I’m sorry but we have no medicine. I’ll tell mummy to pick some up whilst she’s out. How about we go and watch some Disney movies?” Erling asked hoping that would take their mind off of their poorly stomach for at least a little bit of time. At least until you come back from your errands with the medicine in hand which he doesn't know how long that will be. Your child nodded their head but only a little bit and Erling scooped them up into his arms and brought them straight to the sofa and set them down carefully. He doesn’t want to jostle them too much especially if they have an uneasy stomach.

“I’ll get a drink for you. Can you pick us something to watch?” Erling quietly asked not wanting to make too much noise. Once again he got another small nod before walking into the kitchen to grab two bottles and fill them both up with water knowing that is the best and easiest thing for them to drink plus putting it in a bottle means there is less of a chance of them spilling it. They can lay down and still drink without it falling or spilling. Once the drink was made he quickly grabbed his phone and sent you a short and direct message asking if you could bring home some children’s medicine on your way home but also not to worry because he has the whole situation under control. He knew that you would worry and then hurry home so he didn’t want to make you worry however he needs to make sure that you pick up the medicine too.

Once you replied with an ‘okay and are they okay?’ Erling answered knowing that you would worry if he didn’t before grabbing the two bottles filled with water and going back to your child to hopefully make them feel that little bit better and calmer. Lying down behind them he grabbed the blanket and wrapped them up tightly before picking them up and bringing them closer to him as he settled down to watch the Disney movie with your child waiting for you to come back with the medicine. He was hoping it wouldn’t be long because he hated seeing your child in pain which they clearly were now and he couldn’t help them. All he could do was comfort them the best that he could. Hopefully, Disney films and some cuddles will be enough for now.

A few hours later you finally came home from doing all of your errands with the medicine securely in your hands ready to give it straight to your child as soon as you get through that door. It was eerily quiet when you opened the door, a bit too quiet for it to be your house yet it was. If you listened closely you could hear the sounds from the tv but that were playing in the background. From the music you could instantly tell that it was a Disney movie, nothing else really gets played in your house at the moment. Following the music, you made your way to the living room and the sight that could make anyone melt. Both of them were fast asleep, your child cuddling against Erling’s chest with the blanket covering them both. Light snores could be heard as you got closer to them. You were in two minds about whether or not to wake them up since they needed the medicine but they seemed calm for the time being. They could wait a bit longer for the medicine mostly because they look peaceful for a bit and it’s an adorable sight seeing both your child and Erling asleep cuddling on the sofa. Their tummy may be hurting and Erling may have had no medicine to help them feel better but he doesn’t need that. His presence is enough.
