#but oh we're never gonna mention any of this again

Seeing the Maddie gif just reminded of all the wasted potential and storylines they could have had with Tommy and the bucktommy relationship. Because let's face it, for all of the mains it's the same storyline over and over again - we're not learning anything new about them. But then here we have a character who we sort of already know, who they've teased us with a bit of his history and it was like finally! A chance for something new! We could have learned more about his family, maybe see how Buck reacts meeting his father and then having to deal with his homophobic reaction to him, the man he loves and their relationship. He clearly sounded like he didn't have a lot of close friends/family/support outside of Buck - we could have explored that, have Buck be there for his man and show him how, you have me and the 118. We never got to see the whole "dating a fellow first responder and the challenges that come with that" - we've seen Buck in the hospital so many times, it would have been interesting to see Tommy in that hospital bed and Buck having to deal with the one being by the bedside for once, worrying about someone he loves, maybe making him fully appreciate everything his family had gone through in the past when HE was the one injured (like all the effort Maddie went into to look after him). We could have had Tommy and Eddie bonding over war stories - was Tommy discharged due to DADT? If so, we could have had conversations with Karen, who also was affected by that. Hell, if they were gonna do the stupid "he was engaged to Abby for two years" story, have Chim and Hen be like, dude, you were working with us all that time, how did we not KNOW (that story still makes no sense - he never mentioned her name to them? Because if he did, surely it would have clicked when they met her in S1 "oh, you're Tommy's Abby". But Tim acknowledged he retconned their relationship from an ex-boyfriend to ex-fiances so he clearly doesn't care.)
But most of all, despite being together for SIX MONTHS, we never saw Tommy and Maddie interact. Maddie was clearly excited for Buck ("tell me about the hot pilot"), she's married to Tommy's old friend, there was the perfect opportunity to see them start to bond over family dinner or something. We've never seen Maddie really click with any of Buck's LI's before, so it would have been nice to see Buck's whole world start to come together. And it could have led to family orientated stories for Buck for once - we always assume he wants kids because he says he loves kids and we see that with Chris, Jee etc. There could have been discussions for the first time about Buck's future - does he see himself getting married, having kids (and ugh, so annoyed that the first time Buck mentions the possibility of getting married is 30 seconds before his heart is crushed).
And that's not even going into the small things I wanted to see on-screen. I knew we were never gonna get anything too intimate - 911 is a bit prudish, they don't really do sex scenes, especially not since the first season, and hell, all their other main couples barely kiss as it is. But things like holding hands as they're walking down the street, talking about their day while making dinner together, waking up in bed together - small little domestic things that show how their relationship is developing. SHOW it developing. (Because while the snippets they showed of their relationship showed that they were growing more comfortable as a couple, a lot of that development happened off screen.)
This was the first time in a long time, maybe ever, that we saw Buck truly happy (that man was GLOWING, even covered in boils). For the first time, we could have seen his story GROW, instead of doing the same lather, rinse, repeat that has happened in all his relationships (Buck falls for someone, goes too hard too fast, they abandon him, he doesn't bother fighting for the relationship). We could have finally had a sprinkling of new storylines (Tommy wasn't a main, we obviously weren't going to get a hell of a lot, but if Karen can have her own stories/backstories, so could he). All that down the drain for what, Buck 1.0 again? Him jumping back on that hamster wheel of "find new love interest, it goes nowhere, he's single again". It's boring, and this show is on its 8th season - not only has this been played out for too long, who knows how much longer the show is gonna last. If it only goes until say season 10, that would have been two and a half seasons worth of seeing Buck be able to grow, get the love he always wanted (hell, maybe even get engaged, finish the series with a wedding implying he gets his happily ever after). Buck is only one member of an ensemble cast - they can't focus on him every episode, so two years is plenty of time to draw out only a handful of fresh stories. After 8 season, keeping him perpetually single for this long only works if he's always been played as like Joey off Friends - someone who is happy playing the dating game, not looking to go anywhere. Except Buck has been shown to be looking for love all this time - he doesn't want that single life (he doesnt want to "explore" Tim - screwing random men and women isnt going to help him find that love he's always wanted, especially when he already had it). But instead, they take it away from him AGAIN, and now they're back to square one. Sigh.
There’s so much i agree with here! They’ve tried to cram soooo many storylines into each episode that there’s no room to breathe. Everything feels stunted and half-assed. Tim said they didn’t want to ignore everything that happened at the end of 7, wanted to pick it back up, but they spent these first few episodes either destroying the storylines they built on, or ending them so abruptly it doesn’t feel satisfying. Nothing feels connected anymore. In early seasons you’d have them all working together on certain major storylines, but I’d doesn’t really feel like that happens now outside of calls. And the calls are so quick (besides the damn plane) that you don’t really connect with that either.
It would have been nice to see tommy and buck develop more, nice to see him involved with the group instead of just Eddie, nice to see them keep their word and try to make this love interest different from the rest. They did none of that.

Part 2
(Part 1: Paul attacking Ruth over a TV appearance, Jim's prudent gambling, Paul and Linda being awful houseguests)
“It’s not working out with you” - Sleeves to the elbow, only skirts and short hair.
(This is an 11 minute long bit and has little to do with Paul directly, so I transcribed only a small part of it. But I find it so interesting how that crazy family worked.)
‘Mike and I’ve been having a talk. It’s not working out with you.’ … I said ‘What do you mean?’ - ‘You are too quick for me. [...] I’m gonna talk to Paul and he’ll buy you a house, or a shop, or a little business.’ [...] The night he said it’s not working, I said ‘What things?’. He said: ‘Well you go around with bare arms and I’ve seen Mr. Jack, the gardener, [...] looking at you bare arms. And this thing with the long hair and the ponytail, it’s just not respectable. [...] And I had promised my first husband, who loved my long hair [...], he always said to me: ‘Promise me, you’ll never get your hair cut off.’ And in an attempt to save my marriage [...] I went to the hairdressers and said: ‘Chop the lot off!’. [...] And went back to Jim’s. He said [...] ‘I called Auntie Ginnie and asked her how to handle this. [...] She reckons we should go over there, have afternoon tea with her and talk this thing through.’. I thought, what the fuck does it have to do with your sister? [...] So I was subjected then to go over to auntie Ginnie’s for afternoon tea with Jim and for her to say ‘Now, you know, is that side of your marriage alright?’ She wants to know about sex again. [...] Just so unbelievable, Geoffrey, it was like in a nightmare. And we came home that evening and Jim said ‘So what are we having to eat then?’. And I cooked steak in the oven, I made rice pudding, and we sat down and watched television and it was never mentioned again!
Musings on generosity
It seemed to be a game with Paul and Linda. They would do things for people and then sit back and watch them fuck it up by themselves. [...] The rush head-long into these things and then when people flounder and fuck up, ‘Oh, well. Shit happens. Nevermind’. Buy Jim a big house, gibe him all the money in the world. Then take it away. And then give him allowance that you know he will have to struggle on to pay the bloody heating bills. [...] I had just recollected that Auntie Millie, Jim’s sister Millie, who was a real pal to Paul and Michael. When their mother died, she spent every single Monday and lot’s of other days besides taking care of them. In her final years, she became infirm and wasn't able to live alone any longer. She finished her days in a nursing home. And I was told by a close member of the family that Paul was very good. He payed half of the bill. Auntie Millie gave entire old age pension as her portion. They took her pension in its entirety and Paul payed the rest of the bill. Now wasn’t that generous of him. I could only think, why didn’t he pay her entire bill and let Auntie Millie keep her few pounds a week, her independence, so that she could buy toiletries and books and nuts for her grandchildren, chocolate for her grandchildren, when they visited. That half to me was just so strange.
Adult type compliment
At this stage I was probably around 13 years old and I was about the same size as I am now. I got out of the bathtub. I had a towel around me. A towel on my head and a towel around me and I got out of the bathroom. And I was walking around to the left … back into my bedroom. Paul was coming out of their room. … And he said ‘My, my, my. Look at you. You’re getting to be a big girl, you’re growing up, aren’t you?’ He patted me on the rump. And Linda heard him and there was just world war three. … I didn’t hear the exact words, but she had heard him paying me an adult type compliment, noticing the fact that I wasn’t little toothless, six-year-old Ruth anymore. …
#audio part 2 of 3#imagine being married and then your husband talks to his son and wants to break up#but then you have to talk to his sister about sex#cut your hair and make sure your sleeves are long enough#but oh we're never gonna mention any of this again#ruth and angie mccartney

Tin Wedding (Spencer Reid x ExWife!Reader)
------------------
Author Masterlist | Event Masterlist
------------------
Pairing: Spencer Reid x ExWife!Reader.
Summary: You've become friends with Penelope Garcia over the past year, and after much insistence from her, you agreed to visit her at her office one day. What you didn't expect was to run into your ex-husband there. And surely you didn't expect that he - Spencer Reid - is Penelope's coworker.
Word Count: 7.2k (please, stop me!)
Warnings: Yes. I set this one as +16. Mention of Reader being drunk. Curses and some strong words. Mention of sex - oral (m&f). Nothing detailed. IDFK anything about the US marriage and divorce system.
A/N: 2nd Fic for the "We are not gonna make it" writing challenge I was hosting during October with my sis @babymetaldoll. I'm so sorry for the delay, but life has crushed me these past weeks.
---------------
The ding of the elevator signals you are already on the sixth floor. The doors open, and the first thing you see are people going and coming. It's the bustling of a lively office at noon. But this is not just any office; this is the FBI headquarters in Quantico. You never thought you would be in a place like this in your life, but here you are after your friend Penelope convinced you to visit her at work after insisting for weeks.
BAU - Behavioural Analysis Unit reads the glass doors in front of you. This is the place. Looking at the scattered desks on the open floor, you look for a clue that leads you to Penelope.
People walk past you without paying much attention. Maybe you should ask for help. But before you can decide to do so, a voice behind your back breaks you out of your thoughts.
"Can I help you?"
You know that voice. You're sure of that. But wait. It can't be—not after years of not hearing it.
You slowly turn around just to confirm that your suspicions are correct. Standing in front of you is a curious Spencer Reid, who pales when he sees your face. He remembers you, too.
"Oh God, Spencer?"
A stupid question with an obvious answer, but that doesn't take away the surprise of coming face to face with someone you never thought you'd see again in your life.
"(Y/N)? Wow..."
Time has passed, you tell yourself. Spencer looks more grown up. His hair is a little shorter, and he doesn't look so skinny anymore; it even seems there's some muscle under the white shirt he sports. Some stubble adorns his face, and dark circles can be seen under his eyes. But his beautiful eyes are the same as you remember them from when you first met in Pasadena.
"What are you doing here?" You ask, still shocked. Spencer's expression seems pretty much the same as yours.
"Uh. Well, I work here," he explains after clearing his throat.
A Caltech's genius working with the FBI? You wouldn't have expected it. But then again, you didn't expect to cross paths with him after all this time. "And what are you doing here?"
Good point. Why did you come? Oh, yes. Penelope Garcia.
"I'm here to see a friend," you mumble. Spencer's confused look changes to what? Disappointment? Of course, you're not there for him. It's stupid ever to think that, considering you haven't talked since the day you said goodbye and parted ways in that tiny apartment you shared in Pasadena.
And then an awkward silence. What are the chances that after so long, you were going to meet Spencer? And if you're wondering how long, we're talking about ten years when you were both pursuing your degrees at Caltech. In your case, it was the first one because Spencer was already in his third PhD when you met.
Before you can say something else, the one and only Penelope Garcia burst into the room, looking for you.
"There you are! Why didn't you call me when you got here?"
Totally unbeknown to the tense silence, she steps in front of you and hugs you. You can feel Spencer's confused look on you. "I'm glad you made it! We have so much to talk about."
"Garcia is your friend?" Spencer asks, gaze on you, and it's when you realize how weird the situation is. Penelope turns to him, an eyebrow furrowed.
"Of course, I'm her friend. And she came to see me," Garcia scoffs until she realizes something. "Wait a minute. For what reason would you ask that?"
Spencer clears his throat. He doesn't know what your opinion is about people knowing that fact.
"We know each other," you explain to her before asking. "How do you know Spencer?"
"No way! What a coincidence!" Garcia chirps. The exclamation raises the interest of the people entering the bullpen. Some of them approach to where you all are. "Reid? We work together!"
What were the chances of something like that happening to you, you wondered, as Spencer continued to stare at you, his eyes never leaving yours.
"What's happening here, baby girl?" A toned man asks Garcia, who can't contain her excitement.
"Oh, you wouldn't believe it," she announces as two women join the conversation.
Garcia briefly explains to the audience who you are and that she just found out that you both know Spencer, too. After the first impression, she proceeds to introduce you to those there: Derek, JJ, and Emily. From the corner of your eye, you can see Spencer downcasting his look at their curious glances at him.
"So you guys know each other?" JJ asks.
You both nod at the same time as Spencer mutters, "Caltech."
"Ah, fellow grads," JJ assumes. And in part, she is right. Indeed, you met while you were starting your master's degree and subsequent doctorate in the same area as Spencer.
"Kind of," you admit, seeing Spencer's cheeks flush and feeling yours burn too. The guy who was presented as Derek Morgan has a smirk plastered on his face.
"College sweethearts?" Morgan asks in a teasing tone. And he is kind of right, too. You lock eyes with Spencer, and you can't tell if he did or wants to say to his colleagues what you really were at that time. But before you both can even think of saying anything, Garcia's eyes widen in recognition.
"No! Wait a minute! Did you go to college together? You said the other day that you-" she starts connecting information, and you start to freak out internally. Before you can stop her, Garcia blurts. "Oh! Spencer is your ex-husband? You have to be kidding me!"
Shit. How did she figure it out so quickly? Sure, it might be your fault for sharing details about your college love life with her on a night filled with alcohol, but how could you have known she was already acquainted with him? You were careful not to mention any names or specifics, yet here you are.
"Wait, what?" Morgan's smirk turns to jaw slack in astonishment. There is no difference between JJ's and Emily's reactions. Spencer's face is flushed, and so is yours.
"Someone is going to say anything?" Emily asks, bouncing her eyes between you and Spencer.
"Uh, well—" you start, giving Spencer an apologetic look, who returns you an awkward tight-lip smile.
"Yeah. We were married," he confirms.
"When we were at college," you add.
You can feel the heaviness in the air and the mid-surprised, mid-incredulous looks from the people around you. Morgan is the first to break the silence.
"Damn it, pretty boy. What a story you had hidden from us," he says, patting Spencer's shoulder. JJ - the quietest one until now - senses how uncomfortable you and Spencer are with all the attention.
"Guys, why don't we give them a minute?"
After a moment of consideration, Emily seconds the motion. "Yeah, Morgan, would you help me with something?"
"Su- sure," Morgan agrees, still confused but following Emily nonetheless.
"But—" Penelope is still trying to understand the whole situation and has many questions she wants to ask.
"Come on, Garcia. I'm sure (Y/N) will find you when she is ready," JJ encourages, looking at you. That's when you get out of your daze and nod.
"Yes. Yeah. I'll text you, Penelope."
And just like that, the same way people surrounded you just seconds ago, now it's just you, Spencer, and an awkward silence.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know you worked here. I didn't know you were Penelope's coworker, and—" you start to apologize.
"No. Don't. It's not your fault," Spencer rushes to speak.
"I shouldn't have told her about - about," you trail off.
"About you having an ex-husband?" Spencer supplies, and you shyly nod.
"Believe me, it's not a thing I tell everyone I meet, but Penelope, well, she-" you try to find the right words. Spencer nods in understanding.
"Yeah, she can be pretty convincing when she wants to know something."
Another halo of silence passes between you until it's Spencer who breaks it this time.
"So, how have you been? I mean, it's been a while." You nod, still uncomfortable with the situation but just as curious as you assume Spencer is.
"Yeah, it's been a while," you confirm. "Good, all good on my end. Working and living. What about you?"
"Me? Good. Working here at the BAU."
"Cool."
Cool? What does that mean?
A sharp 'Reid' is heard from behind you both, making you turn to the source. A well-dressed man with a serious gaze is looking at Spencer from an office threshold. "Can you come, please?" the man adds. Spencer nods quickly. "Sure. I'll be there in a second, Hotch." The answer seems to satisfy the man, so he nods and returns inside.
Spencer turns to you again. "Uh. I - uh-" he stutters, motioning where the man called Hotch was a second ago.
"Yeah. I have to go, too." You have to, actually, but you don't think you can face Penelope or anyone else right now, for that matter. "It was nice to see you." As you are about to run away subtly, Spencer calls your name. Stopping in your tracks, you turn, and your eyes make contact with his again.
"Would you - uh. Would you like to grab a coffee with me sometime?"
It catches you off guard, but you only assume he's being polite. You think you should return the gesture.
"Sure. Why not," you say, giving him a little smile. "Now I have to go. Bye, Spencer."
And with that, you resume your escape to the elevator.
----------
From the moment he saw you at the BAU, Spencer has never been the same. He never imagined he would see you again, especially under those circumstances. Spencer was so astonished he wasn't even able to start a decent conversation or even ask for your number after inviting you to a coffee.
Also distressed about the interrogation he knew his colleagues would subject to him, Spencer wanders through the BAU halls as if he were not in the present. And, in fact, he is not. After seeing you, he has only been able to think about you and the years you both spent in Pasadena.
A smile tugs the corners of his mouth every time one of those memories comes to him.
"Okay, pretty boy, spill," Derek prompts when he sees Spencer in the kitchen two days after your encounter.
"Uh? What are you talking about?" he turns, confused, to see Derek looking at him with a frown and arms over his chest.
"Come on! You know what I'm talking about. About the pretty lady, Garcia's friend, who happens to be your ex-wife?"
Spencer huffs through his nostrils.
"I already told you. We met in college, and we were together until we graduated," Spencer says nonchalantly as if it's normal. He tries, at least. Morgan scoffs at his attempt.
"Reid. You married her. You just can't tell me you 'were together' as you're talking about any other relationship. She was important; what happened?"
Morgan remembers well a few years ago when Spencer told him about a great love he had while at Caltech and how, from time to time, those memories would come to plague his head. It wasn't hard for Morgan to connect the dots and assume you were the person Spencer was referring to.
Spencer sighs thoughtfully. "We ended it by mutual agreement. We both knew our career paths were going to be incompatible, and we both had so many dreams to fulfill. Our greatest act of love was letting each other go. At least that's how I saw it for a long time."
"But you regretted it at some point," Morgan adds, and Spencer nods. "Why didn't you try to find her then?"
"I didn't want to be selfish. What if she already had her life going perfectly, and I was just going to show like a kicked puppy? It wasn't fair for her."
"Man, I get it, but what about now? You found each other again. Can it be a kind of sign or something." Spencer glances at Derek with an incredulous look.
"Are you listening to yourself? You sound like Garcia," Spencer grumbles, making Derek laugh.
"Yeah. Definitely, it's something my baby girl would say. But, truly speaking, Reid, why not take a chance?"
Spencer huffs in frustration. "I - I don't know anything about her in these years! I didn't even ask for her number that day. I was frozen on the spot!"
"And that will stop you?"
A satisfactory smirk appears on Derek's face when Spencer stays silent, contemplating his options.
---------
Not wanting to talk about the encounter with anyone, you write to Penelope, apologizing for having to leave suddenly that day. She responds everything is fine and doesn't even ask you why, to which you are tremendously grateful.
But as the days pass by, you know you have to talk to her at some point, so you invite her to come over one afternoon.
You have been thinking a lot and rationalizing everything that happened. Of course, there was always a possibility of crossing paths with Spencer someday, but turning it into reality is different. So you conclude all your nerves were out of the shock of something unprovable happening, not because seeing Spencer after ten years made you fall off your balance.
With that in mind, you were ready to talk to Penelope.
Once she gets to your apartment, you first apologize for leaving that day and explain how you got frozen after the unexpected encounter. Garcia tells you not to worry and even says she is sorry for telling everyone about her discovery without any filter.
"It's just- I was so impressed. I couldn't help it!" she explains, and you nod in understanding.
"It's okay. I guess no one expected something like that."
"Right? But I have to ask. How did Spencer Reid become your husband? I mean, you told me about your ex-husband and all, but I'm sorry, I can't picture Spencer even talking to a girl without stuttering, less asking for marriage, and then divorcing? It's beyond me."
It catches your attention how she talks about him. Although you met Spencer when you both were very young, knowing how shy he was, over time, you managed to beat his barrier and meet a wonderful man full of charisma and not so sheepish after all. Has he never shown that side to anyone else in all these years?
"Why so much interest in my marriage? It's been a decade," you ask Penelope, and her scoff sounds a mix of obvious and disbelief.
"Honey, it's unbelievable Doctor Loving Reid has kept THAT information to himself for so long. So now that it is out, it does pick my full interest. Spill. What happened?"
You shrug your shoulder. "It's like I said the first time I told you. We were young, a whole life ahead. Neither he nor I wanted to cut each other's wings."
"But you loved each other!" Penelope complains with an adorable pout. You have known this woman for what? Less than a year? And she seems brokenhearted about something that happened to you and Spencer ten years ago. She's right, though. You and Spencer were mad in love. Unlike what people have believed for years, your marriage was not a result of a wild night of alcohol and passion in Pasadena. You were both quite sober when you went to court that day. Both even had written down the vows you professed in front of the judge- yours on a piece of paper and Spencer in his brain, of course.
"If it's any consolation, the year we were married, we were very happy," you tell her, fondly remembering that time. Garcia rolls her eyes.
"Well, exactly that's what I mean, miss. If you were so happy, why end it like that?"
The only answer you can think of is 'it's complicated,' but that will surely increase her curiosity.
"We wanted the best for each other, even if it meant being apart. As good rational beings, we weighed our options, and the sensible thing to do was to end it."
Putting it in that way, Penelope can believe it. Having known Spencer for years, she knows for a fact his big brain is capable of analyzing every probability of every possible outcome. What seems incredible to her is how feelings - how love - can be rationalized like this.
A ding from your phone pauses your talk with Penelope. You glance at the device and see a text from an unknown caller.
'Hi. I'm Spencer. I stupidly didn't ask you for your number, so after cursing myself for the past few days, I had to find it out. Don't get mad, please. I would really like to grab a coffee with you if you are up to it. If you don't want to, I understand. And if you don't want me to contact you again, just say the words, and I'll stop. But I really hope you say yes. SR.'
Okay. This is unexpected. Indeed, you remember not having exchanged numbers with Spencer, and you didn't give it much thought either, assuming his invitation had been out of pure kindness. But here you are, reading the message and feeling an emotion you can't describe. Nostalgia, maybe?
You narrow your eyes to Garcia, who immediately suspects who sent you a text.
"Before you ask, I didn't give him your number!" she defends as you breathe a deep sigh.
"He's asking me out for coffee," you tell Garcia, and she can't help but squeal.
"Will you say yes?"
"I don't know. Is it a good idea to get back in touch after all these years?" you muse more for yourself than her.
"Honey, only you know what's best for you, but if you ask me, I remember you telling me after you both split up, you were left with a lot of 'what ifs' in your head, and some of them are still floating around. Maybe this could help clear them up once and for all."
Penelope has a point. But now, you have a dilemma in the form of a coffee invitation.
---------
It's just a coffee. Don't overthink it.
You have been telling yourself that for a while as you walk to the coffee shop where you agreed to meet Spencer today.
He is just being nice.
Sure, after ten years of no contact, this sudden encounter in the FBI - with all his colleagues there - maybe pressured him to invite you to grab a coffee.
Still lost in your thoughts, you don't realize you are already there. After taking a deep breath, you step inside and look around. You spot him in a booth in the corner, back to you. A smile tugs at your lips, remembering all the coffee dates you both had back then. It was your thing. Hours and hours talking about everything and anything until the owner asked you to leave because they needed to close.
"Hey," you greet, making Spencer look up to you.
"Hi," he returns, a smile plastered on his face. "Thanks for accepting my invitation," he gestures for you to sit.
"Sure. Why I wouldn't?" After taking off your coat, you sit in front of him in the booth.
"Yeah. I mean, we haven't talked in ten years. And then we see each other at my work, and- well, it's kind of weird, I guess?"
Weird is an understatement, you think.
"You are right. Kind of it is."
You notice there are two coffee cups on the table. Spencer follows your line of sight.
"Uh- I had ordered already," he points to the coffee in front of you. "I don't know if you have changed your order, though."
"Thanks," you mumble appreciatively. "I haven't changed it, actually."
"Great!"
You try to gauge his expression. Is he nervous? Anxious? Because you are.
"Spencer, if you are uncomfortable, we can just go home. There is no—" You can't finish the sentence before Spencer cuts you off.
"No. No, I'm not. Please, don't think that."
"Okay," you concede. "I won't. But you need to be honest with me, okay?"
"Of course," Spencer agrees.
"You felt obligated to invite me here after what happened?" You bluntly ask, and Spencer's eyes widen.
"What? No, of course not," Spencer immediately denies. "I really wanted to see you. It's just that-" he hesitates. You tilt your head, waiting for him to continue. "I just didn't know if it was right, you know? I mean, we never reach out, and then it happens. We never agreed-" he trails off. And you know exactly what he's talking about.
Back then, when you decided to go separate ways, Spencer asked you what would happen if you met again in the future, and you shook your head, saying it probably wouldn't happen. So yes, you never talked about the possibility, and Spencer understood he should never contact you, and so did you.
"I know. We didn't," you recognize, regret slipping in your voice. "I guess I didn't want to think about the possibility back then."
You two know there are things you left out and left unsaid the last night you were together in Pasadena, but you don't think it's a good idea to say them now—not when this is supposed to be a friendly reunion between exes.
"So, since when have you been working in DC?" Spencer asks after you tell him about your work career on the west side.
"Almost two years," you admit.
Two years living in the same city. Spencer wonders if Garcia hadn't met you, he would have ever seen you again.
Your professional career has certainly been prolific; Spencer can tell after the stories you have been recounting. Years of experience and important jobs, just as you had dreamed when you were in college. These are the same dreams you shared with Spencer during the nights of studying and those where there was everything else but studying.
"I thought you were going to pursue academics. When did the FBI happen?" you ask after saying it's enough of talking about yourself.
"I thought that too. And I did it for a while. Then I met Gideon. He - uh, he showed me what the BAU had been doing, and I knew it was my place to be."
Spencer fondly tells you about his early years working as a profiler and how much he has learned. It seems that, like you, he has found his professional calling.
Two hours and three coffees later, you are both laughing about the weird and funny things you have seen in the past years. It feels good, and much of the initial nervousness has dissipated. But there is one topic you both have actively avoided: romantic relationships.
You are curious about it, and Spencer is, too, but neither of you wants to be the one to mention it first. Spencer is who breaks first.
"Are we going to talk about - about that? I feel we have been dancing about the topic, but I don't know if you want to."
You can't help but snort out of being caught and for the subject itself. You are sure your almost nonexistent love life is enough to make anyone cry or laugh.
"I'm still that obvious?"
"You have your tells," Spencer shrugs. You raise an eyebrow.
"I have my tells? What about you, doctor? You have been bouncing your leg the same way you did the day you defended your engineering PhD dissertation."
Spencer's eyes widen. "You still remember that?"
The insinuation of you forgetting that day makes you scoff.
"Of course I do! I tried everything to try to calm your nerves. Do you remember what I did, and actually, it worked?" Spencer's cheeks redden because he remembers.
You won't tell the details, but you recall, as clear as the day, how you helped him to 'decompress.'
"Okay, okay. Guilty as charged."
"So, what do you want to know?" You ask, still not fully ready but resigned, leaning back in your seat and crossing your arms over your chest.
"Are you with someone?" Spencer asks, and you gasp, feigning surprise.
"No beating around the bushes, uh?"
Spencer's cheeks flush, and he can't help it. "If it's out the line, you don't need to answer."
Seeing him flustered and biting his lower lip makes your heart do flip-flops. It's something you haven't felt in a long time—ten years, to be exact.
"If you had asked me a month ago, I should have said yes."
Indeed, you had a boyfriend until a month ago when his insistence on moving in with you was too much to handle, and his frustrated self decided to say a lot of awful things when you said no to him.
Some people would say you have commitment issues, and maybe you have. But in all honesty, until this day, there is no one you have felt secure enough to take that step.
It's ironic, considering you already have a marriage under your belt.
"I'm sorry," Spencer mumbles.
"No. Don't be. It wasn't meant to be."
'Like I used to think about us,' you want to add, but you refrain. Instead, you explain in not much detail every failed relationship you have had. Spencer listens intently, his heart aching to think of how a part of you might have been broken with each failed relationship. He hasn't done any better, though.
"And that's all. As you can see, there is nothing too exciting to remark," you chuckle to lighten the mood. "Tell me about you. There is a Mrs. Reid waiting at home?"
Spencer snorts, shaking his head. "No. There's no Mrs. Reid. The only one who has held the title has been you," he says with a look that makes your breath hitch in your throat. What is it? Longing?
"Wow. I feel honored," you tease, trying to hide the heat rising to your cheeks.
Spencer tells you about the few relationships he's had over the years. In his own opinion, none of them are very meaningful. When you ask him why, he doesn't hesitate to answer. "This job not only consumes my time, but also a lot of me as a person. Not everyone understands that."
He would like to say no one has ever been so important as to make him doubt continuing to work in what he does. The only person who ever made him doubt was you. But instead of saying it, he prefers to end with a "I guess that's why no one has stayed."
Listening to him talk is like listening to yourself, trying to minimize the fact that professional success is possibly one of the main reasons why other parts of your personal life have never flourished.
It was your choice. You both decided to make it that way. But sometimes you wonder if...
"Do you think we made a mistake?"
Spencer's question gets you out of your thoughts.
You look at him, baffled. "What?"
"Do you think we shouldn't have broken up? That I shouldn't have left?"
You pondered his question for a second. It has to do with how you felt at that time? Or does it have to do with how you felt after or even now?
"Honestly? I don't know, Spencer." A resigned sigh leaves your lips. "I always wanted to think it was the right thing to do."
"You never regretted it?" He asks you, and you shrug, not knowing much to say. Instead, you opt to ask him the question back.
"Did you?"
"Yeah. I did," he admits. "Sometimes I still do."
A heavy silence settles between you. The admission that you both had doubts about the drastic decision you made almost ten years ago is difficult to take. It unfurls a whole new set of questions whose answers you are not sure you are ready to hear or say. But it's only fair he knows your truth as you know his now.
"For what is worth, me too. I regret it. More often than I would like to admit."
Spencer's heart starts to beat faster; breath hitches in his throat for a second.
He tentatively reaches out to rest his hand on yours. You watch the action and think you know what it means. His eyes are hopeful. Something you'd like to mirror in your own, but the uncertainty is there, and you can't help it.
"Spencer, no. Please, don't." You try to articulate but not take your hand away from his. "I wish I could tell you I'm willing to try- to try to make up for lost time, but I can't. Even though it may not seem like it, we're strangers to each other, and I'm not in a place to even think about- you know."
Spencer gives a little squeeze to your hand, nodding.
"I know. And I'm not asking you for us to redo our story and start from where we ended. No. But I would love to get to know you again and be your friend."
"Friends?" You ask, brows furrowed. He smiles.
"Yeah. First and foremost, you were always my best friend. My person. Even if we never get back together as a couple, and we don't have to, I don't want to lose you again."
You take a moment to think about his words. What would be the harm? You're at a stage in your life where you don't want to live thinking about those things you wish you had done and didn't. The things you might have done differently. Why not put reason aside for a moment and just be?
You squeeze his hand back, a sign of yes; you're willing to get to know the Spencer in front of you.
---------
Three months have passed since your conversation with Spencer at the coffee shop. You both agreed to reconnect as friends, which has led to many coffee meetings, lunches, dinners, movie nights, and walks in the park. And to say your heart feels full and happy would be an understatement. You've realized how much of the Spencer you met in Pasadena still exists, and the connection that once brought you together has revitalized and is stronger than ever.
Neither of you has wanted to rush things, and so far, you're both happy to be able to spend time together.
Spencer has also opened the door for you to the BAU team, which has been his family for eight years now. In addition to the bond you already had with Penelope, you now regularly attend the girls' night she hosts with JJ and Emily. You've also gotten to know Derek and Hotch better and understand why Spencer considers them like his older brother and father figure, respectively. You've also become a favorite of David Rossi, who doesn't take no for an answer every time he invites you to one of his dinners.
Like tonight, where you find yourself vividly chatting with the girls in a corner of Rossi's backyard.
"No way I could have passed Dynamics and Mechanics without Spencer," you acknowledge when you're talking about the most challenging subjects you had in college.
"It seems a very interesting topic," Emily jokes, not knowing what the hell you were talking about.
You giggle at the memory, cheeks turning a shade of pink.
"I still remember those afternoons Spencer spent trying to help me memorize the Euler–Lagrange equations and the Hamilton's principle. He made it interesting, if you know what I mean," you wink at them.
"I don't think I want to know," JJ muses. Emily snorts at the suggestion.
"Oh, I definitely want to know what that means," Penelope pipes. You chuckle.
"One night, he made me recite the whole equations with his head buried between my thighs," you confess with a mischievous look.
"Oh my God!" Garcia's jaw goes slack, and Emily's eyes widen in disbelief.
"You fucking kidding me!"
"Definitely, I didn't want to know that," JJ shakes her head.
"Well, I helped him with Applied Computer Science. He had to produce a code to operate a string of relational databases while I was on my knees su-"
"Okay! I get it!" Garcia cuts you off, with her hands in the air, as Emily laughs and JJ groans.
"You asked," you shrug, a smirk on your lips.
"Okay, okay. But hear me out. Since we are talking about college time, and honestly speaking, we all have had someone in college, more or less important, with whom to study or do other things," Emily prefaces, making you giggle. "But from that, to marry, and one year later to divorce? How do you get over something so intense like that?"
You have questioned yourself the same for years.
Looking past JJ's shoulder, you see Spencer talking with Morgan, beer in hand, and you can't help but feel the smile creeping on your face when he looks back and winks at you.
If anything, the past months have made you realize what you had back then with him was unique. But what you're having now? It is as unique as before and better.
"I don't think you get over it. And it's okay; you learn to appreciate it and value the chances life gives you after."
The girls follow your line of sight and share a knowing look. When they see Spencer approaching the group, they collectively decide to go inside the house for a new drink.
"All yours," Garcia whispers to Spencer before going in a bee-line with Emily and JJ.
"What was that?" Spencer asks you with a quirked eyebrow when the girls are out of sight.
You look at him, pretending not to understand.
"I assume they wanted a refill," you say with a shrug. Spencer nods and smiles at you.
"And you don't? Do you want me to get you something?"
"No. I'm fine," you respond to his offer. "Besides, I think I've got my alcohol ration filled for the night."
"If you're done for the night, I can take you home if you want."
That's the Spencer you know, always concerned about your well-being and comfort. You shake your head.
"Not yet. Walk with me, though?" You ask, extending your hand for him to take. Without questioning reasons, Spencer nods and takes your hand. The two of you begin to walk towards the pool area, where the sound of the music coming from the house is less audible.
It's not unusual for you to hold hands now. You trust each other, and it's been an innocent way of showing affection. And while the tension of something more has been building, neither of you has wanted to take the next step yet.
When you stop in the pool deck, Spencer moves to stand in front of you, his free hand reaching to tilt your chin with his index so he can inspect your face for some kind of clue.
"Are you okay?"
You nod as your fingers, from your joined hands, absently play with his. A thorough smile tugs the corners of your mouth. Your eyes admiring Spencer's honey ones in the moonlight.
"More than okay," you admit. But Spencer knows there is more in your mind you're not saying.
"Yeah?"
"Yep." You're stretching this on purpose. A smirk plays on your face. Spencer knows what you are doing.
"Good." His voice is amused. This game was one you both used to play back then, testing each other's curiosity and seeing how long it took the other to demand an answer about what the other was thinking. Usually, you were the one who won since Spencer couldn't stand not knowing.
"Have you grown patient over the years, Dr. Reid?" You ask, entertained. Spencer's laughter fills you with a feeling you thought was dormant inside you, but he has managed to refloat.
Not wanting to prolong his torture, and because you don't have it in you to hold back any longer, you decide to speak.
"I know you remember, but can you tell me the first thing I said to you the day I met you?"
Spencer's eyes narrow in search of the moment you're referring to.
-
You were in the library, busily searching through the shelves for a book you couldn't find. Spencer could see the stress radiating off of you. After watching you for a few seconds, he decided to walk over to the shelf, and leaning down, he pulled a book from the top shelf before presenting it to you. "Maybe this is the one you're looking for?" And he was right. Your first thought was, 'How did I not see it before?' and then you realized the weirdest thing of all, 'how did he know which was the book you were looking for?' You didn't know the guy, and as far as you knew, he didn't know you either.
Seeing your confusion, he proceeded to explain. "It was an educated guess, seeing as you have Fuller's, Richmond's, and Helbert's there. I assumed you were in Thermodynamics 301 and didn't have Priest's."
-
Spencer laughs before trying to imitate your voice. "Can I buy you a coffee in appreciation and keep you in my purse for future reference?" You nod, smiling.
"Bold of me for asking that to a stranger, uh?"
"Bold of you for thinking I would ever refuse," Spencer says in a mocking tone to match your joke. You both share a fit of laughter. Once it subsides, your eyes fix on him.
"Bold of me to think I wouldn't fall in love with you after all these years." Your words hit Spencer, whose expression changes from light to serious in a second.
"What?"
"It's like they say. At some point, something has to give. And this is my moment." You pause before continuing. "I can't say I'm sure what's coming, because I'm not. I also don't know if what you've seen of me these past few months is worth enough for you to love me again. But there's one thing I do know. I love you. I loved you, I missed you, and now I've loved you again."
Spencer is speechless. His brain tries to piece together each word you say. You take both his hands in yours, and you can feel them tremble.
"If you'll have me, I want to be the one that stays," you add, hoping your words are good enough to convey your emotions.
You don't know when tears start running down your cheeks. It might be when you see Spencer's glassy eyes.
"I do love you. And I want you to be the one who stays," he rasps before releasing your hands to cup your cheeks with his own, leaning down to whisper, "Let me be the person you want to stay for."
"You already are," you whisper back before closing the distance between you, allowing your lips to meet in a tender, sweet kiss. A new promise and a new beginning for two souls that were meant to be. Thanks to fate, or maybe not. That doesn't matter anymore.
-
As you kiss, part, whisper sweet nothings to each other, and kiss again, not so far away, are two people watching the scene with satisfied looks on their faces.
"Do you see that, Hot Stuff?" Garcia asks Morgan. A smirk appears on his face.
"Yeah, mama. I see it, clear as the day."
"We did it!" Penelope cheers, whisper-yelling, making Morgan chuckle.
"I should never have doubted you, baby girl," the man says, kissing her cheek.
"Of course not. But I forgive you only because I'm so happy our plan worked wonderfully."
-----------
SIX MONTHS EARLIER
Penelope Garcia's curiosity always gets the best of her. She has gotten to know you better in the past months since the IA convention where you met. She sees you as a beautiful person and a good friend. So when you told her on a night full of alcohol about your ex-husband and how important your relationship was for you, Penelope couldn't shake the feeling of wanting to know more, so maybe she could do something to help. Do what? She didn't know, but maybe more information about it would give her an idea.
Quickly typing on her keyboard, she finds a Pasadena Marriage License with your name on it. Checking the date, Garcia notes you had married in the summer before your senior year. It was expected. You already told her that.
What was unexpected, though, was finding out who the person you had married was. Garcia had to read the name twice before realizing the huge discovery she had just made: Spencer Walter Reid.
'No way! It has to be a mistake,' she squealed, fast-reading the information on the papers. No, there wasn't any mistake. You married Spencer Reid almost ten years ago. The same Spencer Reid she has known for so long and works with her every day.
But wait. You had said, ex-husband. Where are the divorce papers?
Typing again, she finds a divorce request signed by you and Spencer a year after you married. So that is true, too.
Overwhelmed by everything she has just discovered, Garcia is about to close the web tabs with all this data when something pops up: it's a court resolution dated six months after the divorce request. The resolution reads that the request has been denied because one of the parts couldn't be notified for comparison to the Pasadena tribunal. Garcia narrows her eyes and types again, looking for an updated legal document granting the divorce request. She finds none.
'Double holy fucking shit! They are still married!'
Without knowing what to do with this new information, she starts pacing frantically in the office. Garcia knows that the information she found wasn't for her to know, but at the same time, how does it not you or Spencer know this? She can't tell you, but she should, or maybe not. Grabbing her phone, she dials the only person she knows will help her with the dilemma.
"Derek Morgan. I need your delicious ass in my office right now!"
And just like that, a plan emerged. A plan to give a little push to destiny. A little push to you and Spencer cross paths again. Maybe this time, for good.
-----------
"And when are you going to tell them about their failed divorce?" Morgan asks Garcia, who is still looking at the couple giggling and kissing.
"Oh, shush. Let them enjoy tonight. There will be time for that."
Derek Morgan shakes his head, laughing. "Okay. You're the boss, mama. You're the boss."

ready
words: 2.1k
warnings: 18+ only, smut, soft!rafe, inexperienced!reader (not a virgin though), reader is briefly described as small chested, p in v sex, mentions of past bad experiences
you feel like you've been kissing rafe for hours, but it's probably only been a few minutes as his lips gently glide against yours. his hands are placed securely at your waist, not venturing any further until you give him permission, even though he's itching to feel your bare skin.
“should we take this upstairs?” rafe asks, his voice a soft hum, sultry and low.
“oh, um-” you freeze, and rafe can feel the change in your body, the way you suddenly stiffen.
“just because wheezie is going to come home soon. we can just kiss, don't have to do anything you don't want to.” rafe quickly clarifies.
“yes, then.” you nod enthusiastically. “absolutely.”
rafe smiles, looping your hands together as he walks you upstairs to his room. you feel your heartbeat speed up, even though rafe assured you that you wouldn't be doing anything you weren't ready for.
“sorry for freaking out for a second earlier.” you tuck a strand of hair behind your ear as rafe shuts the door behind you.
“it's fine.” rafe shakes his head. “i should have been more clear. we take this at your pace, baby.”
“thank you.” you loop your arms around his shoulders, pulling him down for a kiss. “who knew rafe cameron could be such a sweeatheart?”
“you bring it out in me, princess, i don't know what to say.” rafe backs you up until the back of your knees hit his bed and you lower yourself down.
“i do have a question though.” rafe hums as he sits himself down next to you. “and im not going to judge you either way, it's just for me to know how to handle things.”
“okay.” you nod, already guessing where this is going.
“are you a virgin?”
“no.” you shake your head. “ive had a couple experiences before but none of them have been… good.” you sigh, thinking back to your first boyfriend who took your virginity on prom night, in all of 30 seconds. “and i haven't had sex in a long time so in a way i kind of feel like a virgin.”
“okay.” rafe nods, wrapping an arm around your shoulders, gently cradling you against his side. “thank you for telling that to me.”
“i… want to, though. with you.”
“there's no rush, i want you too, but we can take our time.” rafe presses a kiss to your head.
“you're not gonna get bored waiting?” you duck your head as you speak, ashamed of the question even as you ask.
“never, babes. you're my girl, yeah? i don't take that lightly. if i wasn't willing to wait, i wouldn't have asked you out in the first place.”
a smile stretches across your cheeks as you hide your face in rafes shirt.
“oh, you're so cute when you're all shy.” rafe laughs, cupping your cheek and lifting your face up to look at him, pressing kisses all over your cheeks and over the bridge of your nose.
“i want you.” you say, chasing rafes lips to connect them.
“you already said that.”
“i mean-” you take a deep breath, considering your decision. “i mean i want you now. im ready.”
“right now? baby if you feel pressured-”
“no, no.” you grip his shirt. “i really want this.”
“okay.” rafe can't help the smile that stretches across his cheeks. “we're taking things slow though, alright?”
you nod, kissing him again as rafe moves you, guiding you to lay back against the pillows. he hovers over you, holding his weight up on his elbows.
rafe pulls back, looking down at you. “you're so beautiful.”
you feel your cheeks flush red as you blush, resisting the urge to cover your face.
“im gonna take my shirt off first, alright? make you feel nice and comfortable.” rafe says.
“you mean make me feel hot and turned on? because that's what happens when you take your shirt off around me.” you giggle.
“oh, i see the way you stare at me when i take you out on the boat.” rafe laughs, placing his knees on either side of your body on the bed, caging you in as he straightens out, pulling his shirt off.
“can i… touch you?” you question. you've hugged rafe before when he's shirtless, but you've never specifically focused on feeling his muscles.
rafe doesn't answer with his words, simply taking your hand and placing it on his abs.
you run your hand over the ridges of his abdomen before moving up, feeling his defined chest, pecks almost as big as your own breasts.
“satisfied?” rafe asks when you lower your hand.
“yeah im… im gonna take my shirt off now.” you tell rafe, wanting to feel rafe touching you, the way your bare skin presses together when he leans back down and kisses you.
rafe moves back, allowing you to pull your tank top off, leaving your bra covering your chest for now.
“so hot, baby.” rafe drops himself over you, kissing you again. you wrap your arms around his shoulders, feeling the way he's so sculpted there too as your hand drifts down his back.
“can i take your bra off?” rafe questions. “only if you want.”
“mhm.” you go to reach behind your back, but rafe moves faster than you, unclipping your bra and sliding the straps down your arms. he leaves you the final decision to pull the cups away.
you swear rafes eyes increase in size as he takes in your bare chest.
“it's okay, you can touch me. i-i want you to touch me.”
rafe nods, hands coming to cover your tits, large palms swallowing them.
“i know they're small-” you begin to explain, but rafe cuts you off.
“they're perfect, baby.” rafe says honestly. you can see him now beginning to tent in his shorts as he stays kneeling above you, hands moving to cup your tits, thumbs running around your nipples before swiping over them.
you gasp, surprised by how good it feels. none of the guys you slept with in the past paid any real attention to making you feel good as rafe continues, watching your nipples harden with every movement.
“we can stop here for today if you like.” rafe says, hands moving to your waist, wrapping around you as he drops once again to press a kiss to your lips.
“no, i don't want to stop.” you admit shyly. “i want you so bad.”
“good, because im hard as hell and if you wanted to stop id definitely have to go take care of myself in the bathroom.” rafes joke diffuses the situation even more as you let out a laugh.
“im just gonna touch you over your shorts for now. if at any point it's too much…” rafe trails off, knowing he's being so extra cautious you probably find it annoying, but he doesn't want today to be added to your list of bad experiences.
rafe moves himself to the side, distracting you with more kisses as his hand drops to spread your legs, fingers gently running over your thighs before moving up higher.
rafe keeps his movements light as he begins to rub your center, increasing the intensity when you moan against his mouth.
“does that feel good?” he smiles down at you, watching your face contort in pleasure.
“in… inside my shorts please.” you take rafes hand and move him one less barrier away. rafe sees your need and immediately begins to rub again, now with just your underwear in the way.
“oh god, you're so wet.” rafe groans, focusing in on your clit as you let out soft moans, aware that you're likely no longer alone in the house.
“i-i need you rafe.”
“yeah.” rafe pulls his hand out, clearly unable to wait as he's straining against the zipper of his shorts.
rafe steps off the bed and you watch in fascination as he undoes his shorts, sliding them off to reveal his incredibly obvious bulge in his underwear before rifling through his nightstand to pull out a condom.
“no complaints.” he says when you open your mouth. “i know you're on birth control but your first time with me is not going to be raw. just in case you don't like it.”
you giggle, rolling your eyes. “i know im gonna like it, rafe.”
“still.” he leans down, pressing a kiss to the tip of your nose.
you watch intensely as rafes underwear is also pushed off his hips, his cock standing hard and up away from his body.
“do you want me to… suck it or something?”
“if you do that i won't get to fuck you.” it takes you a second to realize what rafe means.
“oh!”
“you just… really turn me on.” he admits.
you lift your hips and push your shorts and underwear down in one go, kicking them off the bed to add to the piles of clothes on the floor
rafe smirks, glad you're growing more and more confident every minute.
rafe lays back down next to you, both turning to the side to face each other.
“are you nervous?” rafe questions, hand falling to your bare hip, rubbing your leg and keeping his eyes locked with yours, despite wanting to look down and see all of you.
“i thought i would be.” you admit softly. “but im not. not with you.”
“im gonna let you control everything at first.” rafe lifts your leg and sets it over his hip, his cock nestling between your thighs.
you close your eyes as you press down, experimenting with the way rafes cock rubs through your folds, having to remember to keep your moans quiet when it bumps against your clit.
“whenever you're ready.” rafe says, his eyes now squeezed shut as he concentrates on holding himself back.
you reach down, grasping rafes cock as you move him against your entrance, angling your hips as you sink forward until he's as far inside of you as he can get in this position.
“just…” rafes hand squeezes at your hip. “stay like that for a second, baby.”
you need a moment to adjust anyways, so you keep your hips still until rafe exhales and nods at you.
you look down between your bodies, watching the way his cock disappears inside of you with every movement.
“god, you feel amazing.” he moans.
“you can move. please.” you whimper. rafe nods again, beginning to rock back and forth, making the mattress squeak underneath you as he meets your thrusts.
the movements may be slow, but you're gradually building up, experimenting by shifting your hips and seeing what feels best.
you let out a sudden moan when you tilt your hips and rafes cock hits a new sensitive spot inside of you.
“no one's ever done that before for you, huh?” rafe smiles at your clear shock and pleasure as he thrusts in and presses the spot again.
“oh fuck.” you whine, head leaning back as rafe carefully moves you onto your back so he can take over.
“you don't know how long ive wanted to see you like this.” rafe says, balancing on his elbows as his hips press into you, keeping the thrusts slow but deep.
“moaning beneath me. god, i would have waited forever for you but im so glad we're doing this now.”
“rafe, stop.” you whine. “you're gonna make me cry and im way too horny to start sobbing.”
rafe laughs, bending down to press a kiss to your forehead before refocusing on your pleasure as he speeds up.
“im gonna touch your clit as i fuck you, baby.” rafe informs you before moving his hand, thumb pressing over your clit as he rubs.
“oh shit!” you squeal before quickly covering your mouth, your hips lifting off the bed as rafe continues to fuck into you.
“are you close?” he questions, glad that you nod, not sure how much longer he can hold off.
rafe pushes his pleasure aside for a bit longer as he presses inside of you, sighing with relief when he feels you tighten around him.
“oh my god, rafe!” you moan as your high suddenly hits, entire body shaking as your pussy pulses around his cock, spurring on rafes own orgasm as he cums with a moan of your name, filling the condom.
he gives you a feel final thrusts, his thumb shakily rubbing your clit through your high until he can't hold himself up any longer, collapsing on the bed to the side of you.
you're both breathing heavily, recovering from the intensity. as soon as rafe can get his muscles to respond to him, he pulls you in close, tucking you against his side.
“so, was i good baby?” he asks, even as your body still shakes with the after waves of your pleasure.
“best ive ever had.” you grin up at him. “by a long shot.”
“just what i like to hear.” rafe bends down to give you a kiss before pushing your hair away from his face and leaning to whisper into your ear. “and you haven't even got to feel my mouth yet. just wait until i eat you out.”

Outburst IV
Leah Williamson x Child!Reader
Summary: You go on a podcast
"And you know, as well as being a footballer and playing with Less and Tooney, you're also a mother to a little girl."
Any mention of you makes Leah smile and she glances off camera to where you're sitting with a crayon and a sheet of paper.
"Yeah," She says, that same dopey smile on her face as she tears her gaze away from you," She's four."
"And she's here today."
"Yeah, I almost didn't bring her because we're recording this so early but my mum had to cancel so she's just behind the camera. I think she's-"
"I'm drawin', Mum!" You call out and Leah grins.
"Are you, bug?"
"Uh-huh! Is it my turn yet?"
Leah glances at Vick Hope. "She loves a microphone. I may have promised her a turn on one of the mics in return for waking up so early today."
"Oh, yeah," Tooney says," We've got to have Bug on here."
"If you're okay with that?" Vick checks.
"Yeah. Honestly, I thought she would have interrupted more. She's very excited. Lovebug, do you want to come over here and you can have your turn?"
You're up like a shot, practically tripping over yourself to get to Leah.
The others have to hold in a coo as you come into view.
You'd arrived today in a big puffy coat and was immediately set up behind the camera, blocked by all the staff and the equipment.
Now they can see you clearly, in a pair of old Arsenal kit shorts but a white t-shirt instead of a jersey, black cardigan and a silly black hat just like Leah's, looking every bit her mini apart from the old Jordan shorts you're wearing.
"Alright." Leah lifts you up onto her lap and lowers her mic so it's more your size. "You happy now?"
You frown. "It's not like Auntie Alex's mic."
"Auntie Alex?" The strange woman that's not Less or Tooney asks.
"My auntie Alex always lets me use her mic at games because I have important things to say and mics help people hear me!"
"Alex Scott," Leah puts in, bouncing you on her lap slightly," Bug really loves her."
"Almost as much as I love Mummy!" You turn to look at the strange woman again. "My Mummy plays for Villa in Berm-ham."
"Birmingham," Leah interrupts again and you tilt your head back to look at her, patting her cheek.
"It's my turn now, mum," You tell her," You have to wait your turn to speak again."
Tooney sputters slightly and Alessia has to bite her lip to stop the laughter threatening to come out at Leah's affronted face as you land another condescending pat on her cheek.
"Mummy plays in Berm-ham," You say again," So I see her every other week. She plays for Villa but I like Arsenal more." You puff out your chest. "When I'm older, I'm gonna play for Arsenal."
"Bug already trains with us," Alessia says and you let her talk because she doesn't have to wait her turn because she doesn't share her microphone like you and Leah do," She's very good."
"And I go on camp! Sarina calls me up every time because I'm so good!"
"You must be," The strange but nice lady says," Because you've got two mummies who play football and you must work super hard."
"I do," You say, bobbing your head up and down," Mummy says one day I'm going to be scoring every game because I'm that good."
"We're very proud of our Bug," Leah says and you only let her have a little turn because she's being nice," She always does her very best."
"Enough for a puppy?"
Leah's face drops. "You've got Blu at Jordan's," She reminds you and you perk up suddenly, turning back to your new microphone again.
"Blu's my birthday buddy!" You announce gleefully," We're the same age! And we share a birthday!"
"Wow, that sounds really cool. You must really love your dog."
"I do! I do!"
"Do you miss him when you're on camp?"
You think for a moment. You've never really thought about if you miss Blu on camp before.
Camp is fun because you're got the other girls and auntie Keira and auntie Lucy and Mum and Bear. You've never really stopped to think about Blu when there's already so much to do at camp.
You shake your head. "I miss Bear more."
"Bear's Keira and Lucy's kid," Leah explains," They're best friends but they don't see each other too often because she lives in Barcelona."
"Bear's kind of funny," Tooney says," She's always nappin'."
"Don't be mean!" You snap suddenly, leaning all the way over to smack Tooney on the arm.
"Bug!" Leah groans," We've talk about using our nice hands. We don't hit."
You huff, sitting more firmly on Leah's lap again and crossing your arms over your chest. "No being mean about Bear! She naps because she's tired! Mum says napping is good, right?"
"That is right, Bug. I do say that."
You nod, turning back to the strange but nice lady. "Bear is my best friend and I love her."
Leah grins down at you, adjusting your hat slightly.
"Keira and I aren't huggers but those two certainly are. Always having a little cuddle those two are."
You frown, a little furrow in your brow. "But you are a hugger, Mum. You always give me cuddles."
"Well, yeah, Bug but I was talking-"
"You don't like my cuddles?"
"No, Bug that's not what I'm saying. I just meant-"
Your bottom lips wobbles and you move to slip off Leah's lap. "I'm sorry, mum. I won't have cuddles anymore if it makes you feel better. No more Bug Hugs. Promise!"
"No, Bug," Leah says firmly, pulling you closer into her body, arms curling around your body," I love Bug Hugs. I always want Bug Hugs from you."

Joel Dealing with Preggo Wife: From Party of Two, to Family of Three
Sunday Surprise takes place right before this, but not necessary for this part
notes: you guys already know this is my favorite little crackhead family. While we've been enjoying Sarah's adventures out of order for a while, lot of people have been asking when we'll meet Ellie. Which I didn't feel it was right until we actually see Sarah's birth! So here she is. Please enjoy!
warnings: childbirth (not too graphic), a shit ton of language, comedy and fuff
- - - -
They say childbirth is a miracle. It's the single greatest, most amazing, most heavenly, life giving, breath of fresh air day of any parent’s life.
What they don't say (almost as if conveniently forgetting to even mention it) is that the moments leading up to the birth are the single most excruciating, marathon through the worst hell of a nightmare.
"YOUUU. YOUUUUUU MOTHER FUCKING--FUUCCKKEERRRR!!" The banshee (his wife, you) next to him in the car screeches directly into his ear, a death grip on his forearm.
He’s one handing these turns, blowing more red lights than he's ever yelled at Tommy for, while ready to lose his right hand to your talons and his hearing to your incessant wails.
"fuck YOU!OOOOWWAHAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
You squeeze your eyes shut, head crouched down while another wave of contractions splinters your insides apart. Every muscle known and unknown in your body is engaged.
"We're almost there, you’re gonna make it--"
"YouFUCKINGfuckSTICkofaFuCkFuckshitheadfuckingbastard mothershitstainfrigginFUCK!"
You'd bash his head against his window repeatedly if your other hand wasn't already occupied cupping your rupturing belly.
Joel’s never been simultaneously in control and losing it inside all at once. He’s got one goal right now: get you to the hospital in one piece.
That goes for driver safety but also to ensure the baby does NOT come out prior that because lord help him he would not know what comes next.
The truck screeches to a halt at the parking lot in 3 spaces. Joel tumbles out of the seat, missing a step and stumbling clumsily to his hands and knees on the pavement. He doesn’t even brush off the bruises and dirt as he’s running to you. You’ve nearly thrown him over again by how fast you swing the door open.
Both his sturdy, reliable, big hands are there for you when you take them, hoisting yourself with an agonizing yelp.
“You’re gonna be okay, you’re gonna be okay, baby momma, you’re—“
“FUCK!!!!!”
You’re clutching your belly, now way lower than it ever has been. Each step feels like fire, with Joel cradling your back and trying to get you to the front door with quick steps.
“Baby! Baby now!” Joel shouts, pointing to you with wild and pleading eyes.
You let out a horrendous scream, stopping in your tracks. Your spine, your bones, your head, and especially your stomach, is all being hit by a truck right fucking now. And you’re crying, you’ve never cried like this. It’s not the fake shit he’s gotten so accustomed to when you want a cookie or milkshake or pussy eating. This is real.
They get you in a chair and wheel you off to the delivery unit, your hand squeezing the shit out of Joel’s but he’s never once let go. He’s gone so pale, running and running alongside you, trying to answer their questions about when it started, how long, what was due date, etc.
He’s doing a million things at once, and you’re just fighting to stay alive.
Oh, you also would forget everything you were saying at this moment. But thankfully, Joel, and the entire fucking hospital, wouldn’t.
“YOU FUCKING, COCK—FUCKER—SHIT FUCKCUnt cunt CUNT! FUCK-OHM Y MOTHERFUCKING GOD FUCK.”
They manage to get you stripped to the papery gown, push your ass onto the bed, spread you wide so the doctor can take a look.
They’re all so calm, walking around and nodding, hooking you up like you’re just here for a checkup, like they’ve done this a thousand times before.
Joel feels the worst stabbing pain along his skull as your nails dig into his hair and yank him down to your face.
“MILLER,” you seethe, venom and sweat breaking through your clenched teeth and slitted eyes.
“Y-yes?”
You force out harsh pants, groaning, but making sure he understands you clearly right fucking now. “Give me. A fucking. Epidural.”
“I-“
“NOW!!!!”
He looks around for some assistance. “Ep—is there an--”
“WHERES THE FUCKING EPIDURAL.”
Joel makes contact with the nurse, who checks below your legs again before resurfacing with the look Joel feared above all else. While you’re heaving and and moaning in pain, Joel receives the nonverbal confirmation she passes to him:
It’s too fucking late for an epidural.
Both Joel and the nurse also pass a clear, mutual understanding about how to pass that info on to you:
“ITS COMING!” He nods reassuringly to you, exceedingly over the top acting. “Right nurse? See she said it’s coming!”
“Any second now, we’ll get that epidural—“ she agrees, nodding and nodding with a thumbs up to you extra confidence.
“FUUUUCCCCKCKKKKKK,” you sink lower, back falling and head tossed as wave of new pain ripples through you.
“FUUCCKKING —Fuck J-Joel. Joel Miller—“
“yes baby, I’m here.”
“Im getting a fucking epidural.”
“Yes you fucking are.”
“You fuckers aren’t lying to me?”
Joel glances at the nurse again, who quickly shakes her head at you with her calm, straightforward, trusting voice of reason: “No ma’am we would never.”
Praise this woman, he thinks. “That’s right baby she’s telling ya, its coming—“
“I’ll FUCKING kill you, Joel Miller. Do you know that?”
“Yes-“
“I fucking HATE you right now.”
“Yes—“
“You shit—fuck bag motherfucker, I HATE you—you—you—“ and you start sobbing “—did this to me!”
“I did—“
“YOU!”
“ME.”
Back again to an angered, snarling beast, you growl, “I’ll rip your fucking cock off. I’m fucking you up so fucking bad when we get home, you can never FUCKIN’ do this fucking shit to me again. Balls in the fucking blender.”
“Balls in the blender,” he repeats with absolute conviction, not an ounce of protest in him.
“The FUCkING blender—you hear me fucker?”
“The fucking blender, for sure baby, anything you want right after this.”
“Ugh--oh dfuck Joel its coming!”
“Yeah?” He asks, and its the first time he hears his own voice waver. Holy fuck this is it. This is the moment for the last 9 months its actually here—
“Just another contraction,” the doctor confirms casually.
FUCK DOC HOW LONG DOES THIS TAKE I can’t feel my skull!
“CUNT SUCKER!” You scream, holding Joel’s head hostage as you chant through your breathing pants.
“Any where’s my MOTHERFUCKING epidural!”
“It’s coming! It’s coming!” Joel nods to his now best friend nurse, who’s also nodding dramatically to keep you distracted from the epidural that is absolutely not on its way.
“Miller,” you growl, shoving his nose right against yours. You stare into his very soul, like Death herself ripping his life choices out of his body and spilling them under your eyes. “I think that Bitch is lying to me. There’s no fucking epidural coming, is there.”
“There is, baby, she said it herself, I checked…”
“Are you fucking lying to me Miller?”
“Never baby, we’d never lie to you, right?” He gestures to the nurse again, who nods diligently again. “See baby, no lying, we’d never lie.”
He watches your jaw drop, voice disappear as another roar is ripped from your chest..
“I can’t do this.”
“You can, you can and will. I’ll give you anything you want, right after you do this.”
“I want you fucking DEAD.”
“Sure thing. Want a divorce too?”
“I’m CONSIDERING IT,” you bark a baritone lower like the devil. “FuuuUUUCCCKKKK!!!!!”
“I’ll get the papers printed right up. Favorite pen signed an’ all. But only after you have this baby tonight—“
The doctor checks the monitor again just as you let out a piercing scream.
“Ma’am it’s time to push.”
“YOU PUSH!” You shout, waving your arm at him but unable to put a curse to the end of it. Your pains are coming through quicker, no longer waves but an unyielding rumbling as the baby kicks and punches and squirms and—
Joel is by your side, taking your hand in his. He’s prepped this speech in his head a million times, every night, every time he felt that baby kick or watched you struggle to tie your shoes, every single second, he’s perfected it:
“It’s here. Its happening. You’re gonna do this, we’re gonna do this together, you and me, right now—“
“Nope.”
“We—what?”
Your voice is calm and face plain. “Changed my mind. Not having this baby.”
“Yes you for fucking sure are.”
“Nope no. I’m returning it. Got the receipt.”
“There—there IS NO RECEIPT.”
“Yes—I got it—90 day warranty—“ your face tightens, clenching out the last word as if you’re mentally willing this baby to not pop out right now. But by god this baby is not taking your bullshit any longer.
“We are way past the 90 day warranty, honey, you’re having this baby, TODAY, Right NOW!”
“Nope, nope I’m gonna suck it back in!”
It seems all ability to ‘suck it back in’ has failed, as the nurse shouts clearly “I see a head!”
Your voice breaks in the most heart wrenching “I CAN’T—“ you sob, terror in your voice.
You scream again, and it’s the worst thing Joel’s ever heard. He feels like a kid again, for the first time in a long while, when his parents fought, and the sounds of their voices carried upstairs to his and Tommy’s bedroom. He wanted to run, hide in the closet, cover his ears, cradling himself and rock back and forth, shut his eyes and his mind out, drain everything away. Instead, he held Tommy, he watched Tommy, he calmed Tommy. He bared the brunt of it, and the fear, he learned to control it.
The control is gone. He’s fearing again. And it’s not his parents having an argument over watermelon seeds, but his wife experiencing the most unimaginable pain right now, and it’s because of him, it really is, just like you said. Worse than nails on a chalkboard, glass in his eyes, fire on his feet. He’s so scared, everything he had tried to train for, for you, for this moment, is collapsing before him, and he’s not gonna make it—
Every fiber in his body grips your hand more tightly than possible. “You can,” he says, sturdy yet trembling. He’s scared.
He’s always known what to do, what comes next, how to make your pain and sadness and tears go away. He’s perfected it, knowing what to get you or what to say to make it all better, but now? He doesn’t know what comes next. Doesn’t know how to make it stop, help you through it, take your worries and griefs—you’re on your own and he’s just next to you, and its not enough, and he can’t help, and he doesn’t know what to do—He doesn’t know what to do-Hedoesntknowwhattodo!
“Hey.”
He feels a gentle hand on his shoulder; the nurse who’s holding all the pieces of his heart and sanity together. She looks at him, focused, locked in from the moment your wailing, miserable self was wheeled in here, and has been doing everything he can’t.
“We’re right there. I need you to ground her,” she says. “Can you do that?”
He nods, tightening his lips. He remembers your hand in his now, remembers where he is, in this moment, and its all the matters.
He’s here. And he wants—needs you to know he’s not going anywhere.
He calls your name. “It’s time, okay baby?” Steady. Reassuring. Level headed. Strong. Rock. Crutch. Love. Everything he’s good at. Everything you know him by. “I need you to push.”
You shake your head again, eyes squeezed shut and teeth clenching hard. But he nods, because he’s gonna do the nodding, and the yes’ing, and he’s gonna take everything that’s ever caused you wrong or pain or sadness away because it’s what he does.
It’s what makes him keep going.
“FUCK! MOTHER———MOTHERFUCKER!!!!AHHHHHHHHH!!”
“Keep going!” The nurse encourages. “Dad, you’re doing great, keep getting her to focus—“
“I’M NOT GETTING MY FUCKING EPIDURAL!!!!!!!!!!!!” You sob in finality, the truth seeping into your bones. “YOU FUCKING—MOTHERFUCKING CUNNT SHIT STICK LITTLE BI—“
“For Christ’s sake, SHUT THE FUCK UP!” The nurse howls, and the entire room goes silent, even you. Joel stares at her dumbfounded.
‘“The baby. Is HERE,” she huffs definitively.
“Now fucking—PUSH!”
-
Joel’s heart has stopped.
He doesn’t know where it is, but he knows it’s no longer in his body.
Its not until he hears the first, most beautifully devastating croak of an angelic cry that he’s felt his heartbeat resume again, and its being cradled gently by the nurse as she pulls the tiniest, wrinkliest, most precious thing on this planet from between your legs.
“Congratulations, mom and dad. A healthy, happy baby girl.”
There’s no way this little—thing—this… bean—can be a baby. It’s the size of both his hands together, and so incredibly delicate, my god, weighing almost nothing and yet the sheer weight of who she is has him nearly capsizing at this very moment.
She’s wrapped delicately in cloth, face and nostrils wiped of fluids before landing gracefully in your outstretched arms. And it’s like the cosmos has realigned in harmony.
No amount of sweat, tears, crazy hair and braised skin, torn clothing and achy muscles could possibly deter the absolute love bursting from your chest as you hold the tiny baby in your grasp. “Hi,” you whimper with a big smile, eyes floating in a shiny haze pf exhaustion and happiness, looking down upon her. “Hi baby girl.” you laugh, tears falling freely as you shake your head and hold her closer, as close as possible, reabsorbing her into your bare chest, and you feel it. Her skin on yours. You’ve carried her this entire time, and yet it’s like you’re feeling her for the first time in your life.
Joel curls next to you, his big palm splayed over top her whole body, touching her. And it’s the first time, the first time he’s felt his daughter. He had been separated by the membrane of your belly, anxiously, excitedly waiting all this time to meet her, and now she’s here. She’s here. Neither one of you can believe it.
Your little baby wiggles, cooing noise stuck in her throat as she settles from her cries. she’s so wrinkly, skin still absorbing all that fresh air, working color into those cheeks and hands, fingers and toes. Her eyes are too swollen, not yet ready to say hi to this world. But that’s okay. Because her mom and dad are still going to be right here when she wakes up, the first people who will introduce her to the world around her. Because she is their world.
“Joel,” you whisper softly. He hears you. He’s here. He hasn’t left your side once. You know he’s here, you’re grateful. He’s here. He loves you.
“Joel,” you hum again. “She’s beautiful.”
You tremble against him. Shaken from love and joy, more than your entire achy body can contain as you bring her little head to your lips and press the most fulfilling kiss to her.
Joel cups her little head. He wants to hold her, but he’s gotta wait. Fuck after all this time, he’s gotta wait. And it’s enough. He can handle it because he’s so fucking overwhelmed that she’s finally here.
“She’s the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever seen,” he rasps into your hair, kissing you tenderly.
Joel steps outside the room, softly closing the door behind him. He watches from the glass window pane, with you perfectly framed in the center as its only subject. Just the way he’s seen the world every day since he met you.
Only this time, you hold another part of you, and him, in your arms. The two of you, together. Like the only things that will ever matter to him.
And suddenly, Joel lets himself feel it all.
He clutches his mouth with the entirety of his palm, his yelp buzzing in his hoarse throat. He feels his knees give way, tumbling to the ground, one hand holding the wall while the other grips his face to keep the cries at bay. And he cries. He cries harder than he’s ever cried, and they’re wonderful. They hurt like kisses, burn like candy, ache like love.
He wants to go back in there.
Quickly wiping his face clean, he stands up, straightening himself.
“Hey.”
The nurse who had delivered his baby stands next to him.
“She did fantastic. You both did.”
Joel tries to clear his throat, but his face is so obviously still red, swollen and barely holding it together. She doesn’t question nor judge the tough guy facade, yet completely speaks to his soul, telling him everything he didn’t know he needed to hear. “She’s 7 pounds, 2 ounces. Ten fingers and toes. Brown eyes. Hearing is great, so is—“
“Thank you,” he interrupts.
She goes quiet but offers a gentle smile.
As he stares at her, the literal saint that got you and his baby through this, from point A to B, he realizes nothing is coming to his head.
“I’m sorry, I … I don’t even know your name.”
She laughs. “I would not expect you to. You had way more to worry about.”
“Well, I just … really, really wanted to say…. Thank you…”
“Sarah,” she responds.
“Sarah,” he repeats. He repeats it over and over again in his mind, as if its going to stick, and he doesn’t quite know why yet.
“I’ll give you two—three, some time together,” she says, gathering the checkerboard hanging by the wall. “Then I’ll be back to help get her ready to take home, and let your wife sleep some more.”
He nods, looking down then back up, just as she’s patting his shoulder reassuringly and turning away to attend her other duties.
-
When he steps back inside, you look up to him. “Hey.”
“Hey,” he whispers back. Now that the dust has settled, he can finally see just how exhausted you are. The absolute train wreck that has battered your body this last hour really settling in, and it makes his chest sore to see you like that. Your gown pulled halfway down to your ribcage, tousled hair sticking awkwardly to your forehead and back from all the dried sweat. And yet none of it, absolutely nothing, is getting in the way of that smile that hasn’t left your cheeks since the moment you heard her cry.
“She’s sleeping,” you hum, looking back down at your daughter, who’s coddled up in a wrap and little cap.
“You thinking about putting the baby down, getting some sleep too?”
“Never.”
He smirks, looking down at her again.
“You think about any names yet?” You ask, stroking over her little forehead.
The two of you had thought about it. A lot. You didn’t want it to be random, but you didn’t want it to be weird. It had to have meaning, but not so closely related to a family member that you’d always mess them up at thanksgiving. It had to remind you of someone strong, unique, purposeful but distant enough that she could to grow and make it her own.
And this was a girl, after all, so it had to be someone that could put momma AND papa in their place whenever shit got too crazy.
“I’ve got…one.”
-
Joel helps dress the baby from her swaddled blanket into clothes.
“They’re gonna be a little bit big at first—“ you say, giggling as the two of you realize that the smallest clothes in the world are still a little too baggy on your little—so fucking little—girl.
Joel doesn’t waver, helping put her bitty legs through the loose pant legs…
You see him wipe his lips quickly, swallowing a lump to clear his throat.
“Joel, are you crying?”
“No,” he rasps like a whimper. “M’just sweatin’ through my eyes.”
You let out a chuckle, and Joel tries to do the same, but then he looks down at his little angel again, who’s stretching herself out in the new cloth that’s practically a giant coat on her. Joel starts to tremble. “She’s so perfect,” he weeps, and the shine in his eyes are clear as day.
“Oh baby, it’s okay to cry! I’m gonna cry too—“ you bawl, and now the two of you cry over this little girl who’s just trying to figure out why this blanket is stuck to her.
Not a great first impression from mom and dad but she’ll just have to deal with it.
And just like that, the Miller family went from party of two, to family of three.
-
6 weeks later…
The baby monitor crackles to life, and Joel is already tossing the blanket aside before the baby utters her first cry. He’s already up, kissing your forehead with “I’ll get her," almost excitedly through the heavy lull of sleep. You barely get a noise out of your throat, already snoring away into the pillow. He’s exhausted too, but his feet carry him onward with droopy eyes as if on their own.
He’s still not happy about the pink paint color of her bedroom, but that hardly matters right now. Terribly dramatic cries echo from the crib ahead. He scoops his little bean—since that’s what she looks like all curly in her onesie—supporting her head carefully and tucking her into one elbow.
He rocks her squirming, agitated body back and forth in one arm as he shakes the now warmed bottle in his other hand. Joel tries to get her screaming mouth to take the cap, but she shakes her head, avoiding him at all costs to her own detriment.
"Oh you’re such a squiggly girly for daddy. I got ya bubbas right here, quick ya cryin’. You’re gonna wake up mommy."
As if she understands how she wouldn’t want to cause YOU any problems, his baby stops crying and accepts the bottle between her lips. Once she finally has her snacking, she peacefully looks back up to him, studies him.
"There she is. Told ya." He grins, swaying back and forth as she stares back at him with those big beautiful brown eyes. You definitely got one of your wishes: Joel’s eyes. The rest of her, is yours.
He’s hypnotized, so in love with her he didn’t think it was possible to love something as much as you. He already knows he’s gonna get her the dog, the kitty, the pony, the car, credit card, dress, house, anything she points to really; he’s never going to be able to say no to those enchanting eyes.
All of her bitty fingers fist around Joel’s pointer, as if to anchor her, and she doesn't let go as she drinks safely.
She’s only 10 pounds now, but he feels like Atlas, carrying the entire weight of the world all curled up in his arms right now. Ans he'd carry this weight forever if he could, would pump iron and concrete slabs and oceans just to stay in shape and keep his girl in his arms for eternity, never to tire.
“My babygirl,” he whispers with a grin, pursing his lips close to her. “My little baby Sarah.”

Last Second Chance | Y.JW
「prompt」 : again 「pairing」 : jungwon x fem!reader 「word count」 : 2.1k
「synopsis」 : you have given jungwon chance after chance, but eventually, you can’t find it within yourself to give him any more chances.
「genre」 : angst
「warnings」 : cussing, infidelity, toxic relationship, emotional manipulation, victim complex, arguments, threats, small mention of suicide, gaslighting, y/n slaps jungwon, lmk if I missed anything!!
「notes」 : LET ANGSTOBER COMENCE!!! we're gonna be starting off pretty strong, and I can tell you right now that it will probably only go down the angsty pit from here... I hope you all enjoy!!
masterlist ─ navi. ─ angstober list
The first time that Jungwon cheated, you forgave him so quickly just because you loved him too much to let him go after just one mistake. And he did promise that it would never happen again, so it should be fine, right?
Wrong.
Oh so wrong.
The one time turned into two, then three, and eventually four times. Every time, he apologized with tears in his eyes, begging you to forgive him and promise never to do it again. And there you were, forgiving him.
Every.
Single.
Time.
You just couldn’t bring yourself to tell him that every time you caught him with another girl, it felt like a piece of you died. When you see the smile on his face when he looks at other women, knowing that he has never looked at you like that, it feels like your heart is being ripped out and stomped on. Or that whenever your friends tell you that he isn’t good for you that you always, always stuck up for him, saying that it was just a simple mistake, but deep down, you knew that he would do it again.
But what hurt the most was when you confronted him, and he would break down into tears, practically falling to his knees, gripping the hem of your top, begging and begging you not to leave him and that if you did, he wouldn’t have anything else to live for. That he might as well just fall over and die. Those few words always worked, and you gave in apologizing to him, never catching on to how quickly his tears dried up or how nonchalantly he would walk away from you as if nothing ever happened.
But now, after the sixth time that he had been caught, you were starting to believe that he was being caught on purpose. That he was doing this as some sick and twisted joke just to mind-fuck you, but you didn’t want to believe it. At least not until now, when you were sitting on your couch watching a video that your friend had sent you from the club.
It was a video of Jungwon with a girl perched in his lap, his hands everywhere where they shouldn’t be for a taken man. His lips curled in a seductive smirk as he leaned towards the girl, his lips ghosting her jaw, and the words that left his mouth made your stomach drop.
“Don’t worry about y/n, just a few tears and begging she’ll forgive me.”
He sounded so sure of himself, and that’s when it dawned on you who exactly it was that was perched in his lap. You had seen that girl almost every time he had been caught, the same girl who had appeared in all of the photos and videos.
Your phone fell from your shaky fingers, causing a loud thud to echo around the room, the air seeming to become thicker, making it harder to breathe. Your heart was thudding against your ribcage at a crazed pace, your ears ringing so loudly in your ears.
But you didn’t cry.
For once in the long six months that this has happened your eyes didn’t fill with tears. You didn’t feel like crying; no, you just wanted to scream.
Scream at Jungwon for being such a manipulative prick. Scream at yourself for not understanding and seeing it sooner. But most of all, you wanted to scream at the universe for putting you through so much torment.
Then, as if the universe wanted to throw it into your face a little bit more, you heard the front door open. Your head snapped in that direction, and as soon as you saw Jungwon walk in with the girl in the video, suddenly, everything became crystal clear to you.
“Sorry to intrude y/n, Jungwon just got really drunk, so I thought I’d bring him home.” She smiled at you sweetly, and if you hadn’t just watched that video ten times in a row, you would have thought her actions were innocent.
Yunnie, let's go to bed.” Jungwon slurred as he tugged on the girl’s arm, and she patted his hand as she looked at him.
“Y/n is here. Why don’t we let her take you to bed? " the girl suggested, but you didn’t miss the smug smirk on her lips when Jungwon refused.
Swallowing thickly, you snatched your phone off the ground and stood to your feet. "No need, you two have fun.” Your voice was void of any emotion as you stood to your feet, and she looked at you with faux shocked eyes.
“Oh no, you’re mistaken, y/n; it’s nothing li–”
“There’s no need to play dumb,” you said harshly as you shoved past them, grabbing your keys and slipping your shoes on. “I’ve seen the videos and pictures.”
She looked at you in shock this time. Why hadn’t Jungwon ever told her that you’d seen the videos?
“Oh, and tell Jungwon I’ll be here in the morning to get my things.” You told her with a hint of finality, not giving her even a chance to say more as you pulled the front door open and walked out, the heavy wood slamming harshly behind you.
—
Just like you had promised, you made your way back to your and Jungwon’s shared apartment early that next morning despite the raging hangover that you woke up with. You had expected to walk in with a heavy heart, hurt, and dread, but all you felt was… nothing.
Not a single emotion, just completely and utterly numb.
Walking into the apartment, you were met with silence, which was to be expected. You knew that Jungwon was probably not up yet, and even if he was, he wouldn’t give two thoughts as to why you weren’t there.
Kicking your shoes off, you made your way into your shared bedroom only to find it completely empty. However, you didn’t give it much thought as you opened the closet doors and pulled your suitcase out. Hefting the luggage bag onto the bed, you started grabbing all of your clothes from your side of the closet and throwing them into the black case.
You were so focused on making sure you grabbed everything that you didn’t even hear the door open until his voice filled the silent room.
“So you’ve finally come back.” His voice was filled with hurt, and you didn’t even have to look to see that he was wearing that faux sad expression.
Breathing shallowly through your nose, you continued grabbing your things, “only to grab my things.”
Jungwon’s eyes widened for a millisecond at the tone of your voice, not once hearing it, seeing as you usually would be crying, asking him why he did it. Pushing himself off of the doorframe, he made his way over to you, grabbing your arm.
“Why are you packing? Are you leaving me?” He asked, tears brimming in his eyes as you turned to look at him. “Is this because of Yujin? I swear it was just a one-time thing; I was drinking and wasn’t thinking stra–”
“Cut the bullshit, Jungwon; we both know it wasn’t a one-time thing.” Your tone was harsh as you pulled your arm from his grasp, “This is the seventh time that you’ve cheated with the same girl.”
Jungwon then dropped down to the ground, tears streaming down his cheeks and his hands grabbing at the hem of your shirt. It was the same scene you’ve seen many, many times before.
“It was a mistake; I promise I’ll never do it again, baby.” He started the begging, and it took everything in you not to scoff, crossing your arms over your chest, “Please forgive me, baby. I’d rather kill myself than be without you.”
“Then I guess you better start researching ways to do it.” Your voice was bland, and your eyes started to prick with anger as you looked down at his shocked expression. You might want to explain to your little plaything, too," you shrugged, shoveling his hands away from you and turning back to the closet.
“When did you become so heartless, y/n?” He continued the act, looking up at you from the ground, hands folded in his lap.
This time, you couldn’t help but scoff, hands dropping to your sides as you glared at him, “When did I become so heartless? No, Jungwon, the better question is, why are you so heartless?” Turning towards him, you shoved a finger in his face, causing him to flinch back, “We have been together for over a year, and for the last six months, you have done nothing but break my heart time and time again, and for what? Some fucking pussy? Which is really fucked up on your end because anytime I brought up sex, you claimed you ‘weren’t’ ready.” You were seething, the words falling from your lips.
“But you—”
“But what Jungwon? I have done nothing but care and love you all while you went and cheated. The worst part is I forgave you. Every. Single. Fucking. Time.” Red was starting to cloud your vision as your voice grew louder with every step you took towards him.
Jungwon stumbled back in astonishment, wide eyes staring up at you because, by now, you would have given in to him. He started to wonder what had changed, but he also was about to let his pride be bruised by someone like you.
“You!” He scrambled to his feet, a crazed look in his eyes as he pointed in your direction, “do you even know why I cheated?” You ignored him, though, not really caring to hear any of the bullshit he’d spew. Seeing that you weren’t even paying attention, he stomped towards you, “You are nothing but a selfish lowlife who thinks of no one but herself. You trapped me in this relationship, and you expect me to just deal with it?”
At that point, you saw red, anger boiling in your veins as you spun around to look at him. One moment, he was nearly in your face. The next, he was leaning against the wall, holding the cheek you had just slapped.
“Me selfish? I have done nothing, nothing but look after you. I have forgiven you time and time again because I loved you. Everything I did, I did for you!” You shouted, tears spilling from the corner of your eyes and not from sadness, but from anger.
“Yeah, you’re selfish,” Jungwon started, pushing himself off the wall and shoving his finger in your face, “if you hadn’t asked me out in front of all of those damn people, I wouldn’t have felt obligated to say yes!” He shouted, and you couldn’t help but look at him in disgust.
“You are such a prick,” You growled before shoving your suitcase closed, not caring that you didn’t have all of your things; there was no point in fighting with someone who was just going to see himself as the victim.
Pulling the luggage bag from the bed you made your way towards the bedroom door, pushing Jungwon out of the way in the process. Your ears rang loudly the closer you got to the front door, knowing that you were getting ready to close the book on something you’d thought would last for a lifetime, and that’s when the tears of sadness started.
However, Jungwon couldn’t stand not having the last word and followed you down the hall: "If you leave now, I will never take you back, and we both know you’ll never find anyone like me.”
Swallowing thickly, you stopped in front of the door to slide your feet into your shoes before turning to look over your shoulder.
“Good, because I would hate to find someone like you again.” Your tone was nothing short of venomous as you pulled the front door open. "Goodbye, Yang Jungwon.”
And with that, you walked out of the apartment, leaving him standing there gasping like a fish out of water as the door swung shut. You left behind all of the good and bad that came with the man, never wanting to think about that chapter in your life again as you walked down the hall, small, quiet sobs leaving your lips.
‘Good riddance’
That was all you could bring yourself to say as you drove away. Away from what you thought would be forever. Away from the man you thought you had loved, but without the rose-colored glasses, you now saw clearly, and you promised yourself. Promised that you would never let yourself go through something like that ever again.

A/N just a reminder that my requests are open :)
"Blitzo, can't you just deal with whatever it is on your own?" Y/n groaned, rubbing her temples in irritation as she stepped out of the office, "I swear to god, if this is some joke? I'm gonna kill you."
There was the quiet, indiscernible drone of the TV. Other than that, the room was silent. Y/n looked up, her eyes falling on the wall beside the office's door and the people who stood before it.
Moxxie, Millie, and Blitzo in a quiet, tense line. She raised her eyebrows, nearly smiled.
"What the fuck is going on?"
Blitzo uncharacteristically said nothing, simply raising his hand and pointing to the entry way. Y/n's eyes narrowed, her muscles tensed and ready for a fight as she followed the path indicated by his gesture. The hand on the knife at her side fell slack as her gaze landed on an achingly familiar face.
"Holy shit." she mumbled, her mouth falling open a little.
"Yeah, uh, he's been asking for you?" Moxxie nervously explained, "You didn't... I mean, he's the Radio Demon. He hasn't been seen in years, you didn't fuck with him... did you?"
Y/n felt tears press behind her eyes again as she took a tentative step forwards. Then another one. Slowly, she crossed the room to the taller demon who just stood there with a smile, watching her all the while with his arms folded behind his back. Y/n peered up at him, her eyes narrowed as they met his own.
The one person in the whole world she'd been practically dying to see. There was a pain, he was the cause and the cure of it. Hesitantly, she raised a hand and poked his nose.
"Shit." Blitzo muttered, rubbing his eyes tiredly as Millie let out a subtle gasp.
"Are you done?" Alastor asked, his voice crackling with irritation as he looked down at Y/n, whose arms were now crossed over her chest.
"I had to make sure you weren't a dream." she shrugged, turning her head away, "Mox was right, you've been gone seven years."
"Are you mad?" he teased, leaning down towards her ear.
Y/n rolled her eyes, turning to face him once again. She scowled at the man for a moment before a smile broke out across her face.
"I never could stay mad at you." she admitted, wrapping her arms around his waist.
"I..." Moxxie trailed off in confusion.
Alastor slowly wrapped his arms around Y/n's waist.
"Mills, start planning a funeral." Blitzo scoffed.
Before any of the trio could say another word, he had lifted her off her feet and was spinning her in the air.
"Al!" Y/n shrieked through her laughter, "Stop it! You'll mess up my hair!"
He set her down again and the pair released each other.
"You menace." Y/n shook her head, still laughing, "It's like you knew I was thinking of you."
"You were, were you?" he teased, leaning down to her level.
"Y/n, do you know the Radio Demon?" Millie interrupted, taking a step forward.
Both Alastor and Y/n turned to face her.
"What, this old freak?" she asked, elbowing him gently.
"I resent that." Alastor hummed and Y/n laughed again, her joy unbridaled.
"Yeah, we're friends." Y/n confirmed, catching the genuine concern in her friend's eyes, "Known each other for about as long as I've been down here."
Alastor nodded as Y/n looked back up at him.
"Speaking of the old days," he hummed, looking her up and down, "what's this new look you've got?"
"Huh?" Y/n looked down at her clothes before turning and meeting his eyes once again, "Oh, I'm an assassin now."
"No no no, my dear." he shook his head, "This simply wont do. I can't have you wandering around looking like some ragamuffin."
Alastor snapped his fingers and Y/n looked down to see she was wearing a dress now. She almost yelled at him, almost tore him a new one and called him a dick. Then she realized what dress it was she was wearing. Y/n looked up at Alastor with wide eyes.
"This is..."
"The dress you murdered your husband in, yes."
Y/n squealed, throwing her arms around Alastor's neck and pulling him in for another tight hug that he reluctantly accepted. Letting him go, she spun around, watching the way the skit splayed out from her legs.
"You remembered! Oh, Alastor! Thank you."
"The fuck." Blitzo muttered to himself, watching the scene playing out before him.
Y/n beamed up at him as Alastor raised a claw, looping it through the circle on the collar Y/n still wore. All of her other accessories and clothing had vanished, as he had intended, except for this. He hummed thoughtfully and Y/n's cheeks grew hot with shame. She looked away.
"What's this then?" he asked, letting the ring fall from his finger.
It hit the leather of the collar with a quiet thud.
"Look, I... made some bad choices." Y/n sighed, refusing to meet his eyes, "A physical sign of a very real metaphysical decision I had to make."
"Quite possessive, to cast a spell like that." Alastor mused, "You always had a thing for that though, didn't you."
Y/n raised her arms, wrapping them tightly around her body at the harsh remark. She made to move away from him but, as she did, Alastor grabbed Y/n's chin, forcing her to look at him. He watched her expression carefully.
"You could have come to me. You know I would have taken that delectable little soul off your hands in a moment."
"Yeah well, you weren't here." Y/n firmly stated, taking a step back so he no longer held her, "I did what I had to do to survive."
Alastor raised his eyebrows.
"And who exactly did you make this... bad decision with?"
"Al, can we please talk about this later?"
"They don't know, do they."
"They do." Y/n insisted, "I just... please, not now."
"Fine." Alastor relented after a moment.
The pair fell silent, Alastor's critical gaze interlocked with Y/n's indignant one.
"Sooo," Blitzo began, breaking the awkward silence and drawing the attention of the room off the pair and onto him as he took a step forward, coming to a stop beside Millie, "you two fucking?"
"Jesus, Sir!?" Moxxie exclaimed in shock.
"You can't be serious, right?" Y/n laughed in surprise, "No, Blitzo, we're not fucking. The day Alastor has a sex drive is the day Heaven is overrun by... I don't know, giant killer bees?"
"It's more likely than you think, dear."
"What's that-"
Alastor cut her off mid sentence, placing a hand over her mouth as he caught the images flashing across the TV on the other side of the room.
"Hey, rude." Y/n scoffed, pulling herself from his grip.
Alastor ignored her. With a flick of his finger, he raised the volume on the TV. At the sight of his narrowed eyes and tight smile, Y/n turned to see what exactly was bothering him so much.

UNBEARABLE. connor stoll (pjo)
( master list )
IN WHICH… Connor Stoll finds enjoyment on pulling all sorts of pranks on Y/N L/N, the charming daughter of Aphrodite. It isn't until he catches her in a moment of weakness that he begins to sympathize with her.
A/N : I kinda feel like I’m carrying the PJO fandom on my back with all these fics lol. Also, people said I could be cast as Drew from PJO. Y’all should ask for my insta so you can confirm me as Drew 😽
Warnings : not following plot, luke is still here bc I adore him, mentions of luke x y/n here and there (Y/N’s an Aphrodite kid, ofc she’s kissed multiple people 😭)
—
A shrill scream pierced the peaceful silence of Camp Half-Blood, waking up most of its campers. Connor Stoll creeped around the corner with a cheeky grin, holding an empty bucket of pink paint. A moment later, Y/N L/N and Silena Beauregard stormed out of the Aphrodite cabin, covered from head to toe in paint.
"I'm going to kill him!" Y/N shouted, eyebrows furrowed in fury. The paint dripped off her body, staining the green grass below. She scoffed.
The Stoll brothers, more specifically Connor, were at it again with their never-ending pranks. Ever since Y/N arrived at camp, she had been the main victim of Connor's tricks. And she hated it.
"Are you okay?" Y/N asked Silena, all of her anger suddenly simmering away once she looked at her sister. Silena nodded, combing the dried paint out of her black hair. Y/N looked over her shoulder, locking eyes with Travis Stoll. She fumed as she quickly strutted towards the elder brother.
"You," She sternly pointed at Travis and poked his chest, "Get your brother under control before I do it myself!"
Travis lifted his arms in surrender, teasingly grinning. “I think he’d like that.”
"Just make him stop! I am sick and tired of being covered in paint when I wake up! Honestly!" Y/N groaned as she stormed back towards her cabin, ushering Silena inside so they could wash up.
Y/N clicked her tongue as she scrubbed the drying paint off her face. Silena was beside her, drying her now clean face with a warm towel. "I can't stand this any longer." She mumbled, running a brush through her hair. She peeled a patch of paint off, scowling in disgust. "Do you think the paint will harm my skin barrier?"
"Oh, absolutely." Silena quickly nodded her head, "We need to do face masks tonight."
Y/N was getting sick of all the pranks that seemed to target her and only her. "Hey, Y/N, we're gonna get breakfast. You wanna come with?" One of her other siblings poked her head around the corner, in the process of changing into a pink shirt.
"Oh, yeah. I'm coming." Y/N flashed Silena a bright smile before joining the other Aphrodite kids.
"Hey, Y/N, don't you think that Connor is kinda cute?" One of the girls nudged her as Y/N tucked herself between Momona and Jacob. Y/N glanced at Connor, frowning.
"No." She scoffed, something she did often whenever Connor was around. "He keeps pulling pranks on me. I can't even see him half of the time because my eyes are always covered in paint."
“She has a point.” Vivviene said, causing Y/N to frown.
“Of course I do. I’m always right.”
Her siblings laughed, throwing their heads back. “Yeah, right!” Jacob exclaimed, “What about that time you said Luke wasn’t guarding the flag and you were wrong? Because he was and he whooped your ass badly!”
Y/N pushed Jacob, playfully scoffing. “It was one mistake! And I landed a few good shots! He got stuck in the infirmary for a week."
“Yeah. And you were with him because of his beating! The Apollo kids found you making out a few times!” Jacob slung an arm around her shoulder, bellowing out another laugh.
Y/N accidently caught Connor's eye from across the room and her smile faltered. She quickly turned her head, the image of her reflection covered in paint engraved in her mind.
She still had paint stuck under her nails and she picked at it. "I'm getting fed up with him." She mumbled, causing her siblings to groan. Y/N scoffed, rolling her eyes. "What?"
"You always talk about him at meals." Jacob said.
"In fact, you're always talking about him. Period." Momona added.
“What if I’m not talking about Connor?” Y/N asked, unknowingly falling into her siblings trap.
"We never mentioned a name.” Vivviene pointed out. Y/N groaned, running a hand through her soft hair. “Maybe he keeps pulling these pranks because he likes you." Vivviene shrugged before eating another spoonful of her food, not noticing how everybody turned their heads to stare wildly at her.
"Excuse me?" Y/N almost choked. "He does not like me. If he did, I don't think he'd be annoying me so much. But I guess boys are naturally annoying." Jacob pursed his lips but nodded in agreement. "Anyway, I have to help some kids with archery practice. I will see all of you later." Y/N grinned at her siblings, teasingly tapping Momona on the nose.
"Oh, great. Tell them to duck when you shoot." Jacob teased.
Y/N rolled her eyes but she still smiled. "Well, I'm off. Bye!" She stood up, gracefully walking away. The kids in the arena seemed to light up as she made her presence known. "Hey kids, great to see you all again! Y'all ready to learn some archery?" The young demigods cheered, excited for their next lesson with the Aphrodite cabin leader instead of the harsh Clarisse.
"So, you just pull the arrow back. As far as you can," Y/N uttered, showing the kids a demonstration. "And once you've got it as far as you can, you just shoot." She let the arrow go, watching as it spiraled through the air and hit bullseye. With that sort of aim, she may as well be an Apollo kid.
The kids clapped while she outstretched her arms, enjoying the applause. "Thank you!" She playfully bowed. "Okay, bows out, arrows ready, and shoot your shot! Quite literally. Aim for the targets over there, not at each other."
The children excitedly grabbed a bow and arrow, trying their best to impress to Y/N. Even if they missed completely, she still clapped and gave them an encouraging pat on the back.
"Great training session guys! I'll see y'all tomorrow!" Y/N waved goodbye to the small group. She was cheerful until she spotted Connor in the distance, conversing with Travis and holding yet another can of paint. She clenched her jaw.
"Connor Stoll, don't you dare use that paint for anything relating to my cabin!" She stormed towards him, sternly pointing at him.
"We weren't planning to but now that you say it, we might." Connor cheekily grinned while Y/N glared at him.
"Stoll, you know I adore everybody in this world... but you are an exception. I loathe you." She poked his chest, "Now, please get rid of the paint in that can."
Connor shrugged. "Okay." He, without a second thought, poured it all over Y/N. For the second time today. She gasped, glowering at Connor.
"You are dead." She said through clenched teeth. "Dead, you nitwit!" She threw a lump of paint at him, hitting him directly in the face. “Honestly.” She scoffed, shaking the paint off. “My skin is going to break out soon and you’ll be to blame!”
She slapped a paint-covered hand on his shoulder before walking off, muttering to herself as she glared at any camper who dared to laugh at her.
“Well, that went smoothly.” Travis said, taking a peek at Connor. “Maybe covering a girl in paint isn’t the best way to woo her.”
“Luke told me it was.”
Travis clicked his tongue, resting a heavy hand on his brother’s back. “… He was messing with you.”
Connor wasn’t a complicated boy. He loved playing pranks but lately Y/N’s reactions had been getting less rewarding. She looked at him like he was the bane of her existence, which he probably was. But how else was he supposed to get her attention?
Without the constant tricks, Y/N would have only ever seen him as another Hermes boy, not worth remembering because her eyes were always on another.
Luke, with his brown-curled hair and a faint scar that ran down his pretty face yet it only elevated his beauty. Connor was pretty sure whatever chemistry and romance between them was done but Luke still snuck glances at Y/N from time to time.
If he was being honest, Connor was a little jealous of his brother. What was his secret to getting Y/N to notice him? Sure, Luke was good-looking but Connor wasn’t lacking in that department either.
"You'll think of something to grab her attention." Travis reassured his brother, nudging him in the ribs, "My advice... plan a picnic. Who knows, it might get you somewhere." The elder Stoll brother tilted his head back, letting out an amused laugh, as he walked away.
Connor clicked his tongue, thinking for a moment. His eyes lit up with mischief as an idea popped into his head. He couldn't guarantee that it was a good one but it's Connor Stoll we're talking about. Y/N woke up with a surprised look on her face. Paint wasn't splattering around her cabin and everybody was sleeping peacefully, not awoken by shrill screams. Y/N furrowed her eyebrows as she sat up, rubbing her eyes. It seemed Connor had finally decided to leave her alone.
She stood up, shivering slightly when her bare feet hit the cold tiles below. She sleepily staggered over to her vanity mirror, peering into it to check her skin as she did everyday. Her appearance was spot on, as usual, except for one thing that made Y/N lose her mind.
Her hair... was pink. It wasn't an ugly type of neon pink but gone were her H/C locks. Y/N tried to hold back a sharp screech but the panic was beginning to set in.
Her half-siblings woke up in alarm.
"My hair..." Y/N seethed to them, barely able to contain her fury, "That little..." She couldn't even find an appropriate insult as her body trembled in anger.
"I'm sure we can wash it out." Silena rushed to Y/N's aid. "It's still early. I'll draw you a bath and we can scrub it out."
Silena was wrong. Two bottles of shampoo later, the color was still vivid.
"I can't go out like this." Y/N said, tugging at the ends of her hair. "They'll laugh at me... and mother, oh gods... she's going to hate me for changing my hair."
"It’s not your fault." Silena comforted her. “I’ll talk to Connor. I’ll make him tell me how to get rid of it. Then we can fix it. Okay?”
Y/N slowly nodded. “This is fine.” She muttered to herself when Silena was long gone. She applied a thin layer of gloss to her lips, soothing herself. “Mother won’t hate you because it was all his doing…” She took a deep breath, closing her eyes. When she looked at her reflection for a second time, she felt her anger flare up again.
As an Aphrodite kid, her appearance was everything. It was her identity and more. "What about personality?" Other campers would ask her and she'd simply laugh. What about beauty? The first thing people will see is how you carry yourself, how you walk, how you look. Personality had nothing to do with first impressions.
Y/N was a beauty among the Aphrodite girls, standing out more than she should. She had always been her mother's favorite. Without her carefully styled H/C hair, who was she? Her hair was an important detail to her and she didn't know what to do now. Would people still love her as they did before? Without her outstanding looks, she was nothing.
Y/N slipped out of her cabin via the window. Everybody was at breakfast so it wasn't hard to avoid people from seeing her hair. Y/N was supposed to be teaching archery again today but she'd rather battle a hellhound than show up with pink hair.
She wandered around the forest, eventually finding herself in front of a small river. A few nymphs sat near the water, giggling together. They spotted Y/N and all gasped in unison, scrambling away except for one who was brave enough to stay.
"I like your hair." She shyly said, coyly kicking her leg into the water. She charmingly smiled before hurrying off after her friends, who laughed at timid behavior.
Y/N fell to her knees in front of the river, staring mindlessly at the cool liquid. She wondered what it found feel like to dunk her head beneath the water, an action she saw the nymphs do quite often.
She didn't know how much time had passed. Maybe it was minutes or hours but Y/N found herself sprawled on a warm rock, basking in the sun. She heard footsteps approach her and she hoped it was Silena. It wasn't. It was Connor instead.
"Oh." Y/N deadpanned, displeased to see him. "It's you." She deeply scowled, turning away.
"You, uh, weren't at breakfast." Connor kicked a nearby rock as he cleared his throat, "And the archery kids were wondering where you were too. Luke had to take over and he may be the best swordsman but he's far from the best archer. He kept missing the target."
Y/N let out a small huff of amusement. "What are you doing here, Connor?" That was the first time she had called him by his first name. She often referred to him as Stoll.
"I wanted to check up on you. Are you... okay?"
"No, Connor, I am not okay!" Y/N suddenly snapped, "Why can't you ever leave me alone? Did I do something to hurt you? I could deal fine with the paint and water buckets but my hair? You dyed my hair pink! My mother loved my H/C hair and now you've ruined it!"
"It won't last forever." Connor retorted, taking a step towards Y/N.
"That doesn't matter!” She screamed, standing up. “My looks are important to me, Connor! I can't pull off pink hair, it doesn't match my skin undertone! I need to be perfect otherwise my mother won’t love me!”
"You can pull anything off, Y/N. You're pretty."
Y/N's eyes momentarily softened as she gazed at him, her cheeks flushing a light hue of pink. "You think I'm pretty? Even... even with messy pink hair, smudged mascara, and fading eyeliner?"
"I think you're always pretty." He answered, “Even when you do those heatless curls that make you look silly. And I think you’re the prettiest when you aren’t trying.”
“Don’t think your compliments will get you off the hook.” Y/N warned, glaring at him.
“Will a star-gazing date at seven get me off the hook?” Connor asked, mischievously grinning.
In turn, Y/N narrowed her eyes. “Maybe.” She uttered before turning around and walking back to camp, concealing her pink hair once more.

Reunion
Shaggy Rogers x Daphne Blake's Sister!Reader
WARNING: Nothing but Fluff <3, Mutual Pining, Reader is a Black Belt in Karate
PREFACE: When the gang first split up, of course Shaggy was devasted, but he was more upset that he would never get to see Reader again. That was until they all reunite in the airport for a mystery they were invited to solve two years later
A/N: Flashbacks in Italics!
There aren't any stories about my husband and I am deeply appalled!
SHAGGY'S P.O.V.
"Come on, Scoob. Like, we're gonna be late for the flight", I say,
Packing up our Scooby snacks for the trip, while he dealt with our clothes.
"Oooh, Rooby Snacks"
He says, trynna grab a piece, to which I bat his hand away.
"These are for the trip, man!", I scold,
As he huffed, zipping up our bags. We hail a cab, toss our luggage in the trunk and hop in.
It's been a while since we had a totally rad mystery to solve. Like, as terrifying as those creeps were, I miss getting to work on cracking the case...and getting to hang with (Y/N).
She was like, the most perfect girl in the world. Like, imagine all the best things in one person. Even all the hotdogs, sundae ice creams and rollercoasters couldn't come close to how beautiful she was. She never failed to make my heart do summersaults inside my chest.
But I never had the guts to tell her that. I mean, she was super cute and I was the goofball of Mystery Inc.
So, I knew I had no chance.
"Raggy!", Scoob snaps me out of my thoughts,
Nudging me with his elbow and letting me know that we made it to the airport. While grabbing our bags, I look over at the large tree by the entrance and my heart drops like a sack of potatoes.
There she was in all her glory. With her pretty hair and eyes that shined like gumdrops. She was just as pretty as I remembered. I could already feel the goofy grin settling on my face.
YOUR P.O.V.
"Want anything from the gift shop, while I'm in there?", Daphne questioned,
"I'm good- oh! Maybe food from the McDonald's next door?", I request,
Looking up from the book I bought prior to getting here. I watch as my sister gives me an unimpressed look, placing a hand on her hip.
"What? I missed breakfast!", I retort at her reaction,
"And who's fault is that?"
"Um, yours? If you hadn't hogged the bathroom all morning to do your hair, I would've had enough time to make some food"
"Well, excuse me for caring about my appearance. You think all this takes five minutes?", she says,
Gesturing to herself. Once she realized there was no getting through to me, she accepts defeat by sighing to herself and rolling her eyes.
"Fine, but just this once. That stuff will kill you"
"Not fast enough, apparently", I answer,
Getting back to my reading. She shakes her head, before walking off.
"Be back soon, ciao"
"Ciao", I replied,
Without averting my gaze from the pages.
As I was waited for her to get back, I decided to grab the water bottle I had in my backpack. Just then, my journal falls out from one of the compartments
Jeez, it must've been a while since I've cleaned this out.
I flip through the pages and come across one that was covered in hearts with arrows shot through them. The letters (Your First Initial) and S added together on the insides.
I've always had a thing for Shaggy. He was always such a sweetheart. I remembered how he would always give me the cherries off his sundaes, regardless of how much he wanted them.
"Shaggy, you don't have to keep giving me the cherries, if you want them", I say,
"Like, I know you want them, so...let me be a gentleman", he says,
Picking one off the vanilla ice cream and handing it over to me. For the first time ever, I decided to rid myself of the familiar shyness I was always plagued with and take it from him with my teeth, causing a bright red hue to brush against his cheeks.
"Like, wow", he giggled shyly.
Not to mention, how incredibly cute he was. I couldn't help but sigh at the memories of those pretty blue eyes staring back at me.
I knew I should've said something before we all split up, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it and besides, he probably didn't feel the same way.
As I was strolling down memory lane, I feel a hand on my shoulder.
"HiYAH!", I yell,
Hitting whoever it was in the shin, before pinning them to the tree by their throats. Once I realized who it was, I gasp.
"Like, wow", he grinned,
I couldn't help but feel a weird sense of Deja Vu when he said that.
"Shaggy! I am sorry!", I apologize,
Pulling away and fixing his shirt.
"Just as strong as I remember", he says,
Rocking back and forth on his heels, with the same old laugh I remember falling for. I chuckled and bent down to pick up my stuff.
"Oh, let me help you with that", he says,
Getting down and accidentally butting me in the head with his, causing us both to fall backwards, exclaiming in pain.
"Owie!", he whines,
Grabbing his forehead, as I laugh doing the same.
"Good to see you again, Shagster", I say,
"(Y/N)", I hear a familiar sound coming from behind me,
I turn around and see the best boy in the world.
"Scooby!", I yelp in excitement,
As he ran over, barking and greeted me with a lick to the face.
"Hiya, boy!", I scratch at the back of his head,
Whilst his tail wagged and foot tapped softly on the grass.
"Like, he really missed you!", Shaggy says,
Making me turn to face him.
"We both did", he admitted shyly,
My heart skipping a beat listening to his words.
"I missed you too, you screwball", I kid,
Getting back on my feet and finally embracing him. At first I felt his body stiffen against my touch, but he eventually melted into me and his arms go around the small of my waist.
We pull away and our lips were merely inches apart. It felt like time stopped and everything else disappeared around us. In that moment, we were the only people to exist.
"(Y/N)?"
"Shaggy?", I whisper,
Feeling the magnetic current pulling me closer towards him. Just as we were about to close the space between us, we were interrupted.
"Oh my god", Daphne says,
Carrying my food in her hands, watching us leap out off each other's arms.
"Shaggy?", she calls out,
"Oh, like, Hi, Daph!", he says,
"What are you doing here?", she chuckles,
Walking closer towards us and handing my the paper bag and drinks.
"Well, Scoob and I got this super creepy invitation to solve a mystery on-."
"Spooky Island", they both say in unison,
"Like, how groovy, man!"
My head snaps in his direction.
"Wait, you got invited too?", I ask,
"Well, yeah! Didn't you hear about the all-you-can-eat buffet they're hosting?", he questions,
Making me laugh to myself. Of course, he would go for the food.
"Well, let's hope we're the only ones who got the invite", Daphne says,
Walking into the airport. We take a moment to look back at each other, before shrugging and picking up my belongings. We trail behind her and made our way through the bustling crowd. I take a bite of my burger, before looking over and finding Shaggy ogling at it.
"Hm?", I hum,
Offering him a bite.
"Oh no, I couldn't possibly-"
"The plane won't be serving food till three", I interrupt,
"Who am I to deny such a gracious offer?", he jokes,
Making me chuckle to myself.
"Wanna go halfsies?", he asks,
"Sure", I agreed,
Watching him split the burger in half and handing me the bigger piece.
"Thank you", I say,
Continuing to enjoy my share, along with the fries I was already sharing with Scoob. I throw a fry in the air and laugh as the pooch jumps up to catch it.
While walking, Scooby grabs the dufflebag Shaggy was holding and made his way to the bathroom.
"Where's he going?", washing down the last bite down with my drink,
"Oh, you'll see", he replies,
It takes us a while, but we finally get to the check-in, where Daphne proceeded to argue with the man behind the desk.
"What do you mean I can't have seven carry-on bags?! That is so economy!", she complains,
"Yeesh", Shaggy muttered to me,
"Oh, that's just her makeup. You should see the suitcases full of costume changes and hair products", I say,
Making the tall geek laugh at my joke. I look around and my eyes fall on two very familiar faces.
"Daph?", Fred called out,
Catching my sister's attention.
"Crap", Velma muttered to herself,
"Oh, no. I'm not talking to you guys", she snapped,
Pretending to zip her lips shut and throwing away the key, but alas, she could not control her anger.
"What the heck are you doing here?", she questioned,
Watching the pair make their way over to us. That's when Fred eventually notices me and Shaggy.
"Oh, hey, you two", he greets,
We couldn't do anything but wave awkwardly.
"Isn't it obvious? We all received the same letter from one Emile Mondevarious...the reclusive owner of Spooky Island", Velma explained,
"It's not fair! I was gonna solve the mystery all by myself for the first time ever", Daphne argued,
As Fred scoffed. Oh no.
"How are you gonna save yourself when you get caught?", he poked fun at Daphne's past of always being the damsel in distress,
"I'm a black belt now. I've transformed my body into a dangerous weapon", she answered,
As him and Velma laughed at her response.
"It's true!"
"Far out! I guess we're, like, all going to Spooky Island, man!"
Daphne rolls her eyes and returns her attention to the check-in employee.
"Hey, where's Scooby?", she asks Shaggy,
Just then, the Great Dane, or should I say, Great Dame, emerges from the crowd. All dressed up in an long-sleeved dress, cheetah print reading glasses and a straw hat.
"Hello, sorry", he says,
Navigating his was through the fellow airport patrons.
"They don't allow big dogs on the plane", Shaggy explained nonchalantly,
As I let out a shocked laugh.
"You've got to be kidding", Velma protested the ridiculous disguise,
"No one is stupid enough to believe that", she added,
"Who's the ugly old broad?", Fred asks,
Leaning over to Shaggy. Velma shakes her head at Fred's naiveness and folds her arms over her chest.
"Say hello to Grandma", Shaggy announced,
"Attention. Flight 3774 to Spooky Island is now boarding", the announcer alerts through the telecom,
Everyone, besides Shaggy and I, groan before heading towards our terminal.
SHAGGY'S P.O.V
"Shall we?", I move over and gesture for her to step in front of me,
"My my my, what a gentleman. Just like I remember", she smiles,
Walking ahead.
"Nailed it", I sing to Scoob,
Before following behind her. We arrive inside the plane and take our seats. A moment passes and Scoob nudges me, before holding up the neck pillow we brought.
"Aaah"
I quickly picked up what he was putting down.
"Say, (Y/N)", I call out,
She turns back to me.
"Could I interest you in some in-flight comfort?", I ask,
Offering it to her. She grins to herself, before taking it.
"Why, thank you, Shagwell", she says,
Putting it on. I turn to Scoob and he raises his eyebrows at me.
"Butt out, Scoob", I scold in a whisper,
Before looking back at her. I swear heaven was missing an angel. Like, how could someone be this perfect? I could feel the blood rush up to my cheeks every time she spoke. It always felt like that one time with the cherries. Oh, man, did it make my heart go all squirrely.
I was never man enough to tell her how I really felt back then, but those two years without her was pure torture, man. It made me realize that I couldn't put myself through that again.
So, I take a deep breath and finally plucked the courage up the guts to come clean.
"(Y/N)?"
"Yes?"
"If we ever make it out of this, you know, with our head still attached to our necks"
Making her laugh. Gosh, were her little giggles music to my ears. Focus, Shaggy, Focus! I shake myself out of my distracting thoughts.
"Would you maybe wanna...I don't know...like...go out with me?", I ask,
Cringing in anticipation for the let-down of a lifetime.
YOUR P.O.V.
Was I hallucinating? There was no way on God's green earth was the man I'd been crushing on for literal years now actually reciprocating how I felt.
I pinch at my arm and hiss at the pain that brought me to the realization this wasn't just a scenario I dreamt up.
"Ow!"
"Like, what was that?", he yelped concernedly,
"Uh, nothing, it's just...", my sentence trails off into an awkward silence,
"I would love to!"
"Really?", his eyes widen,
"Really?", Scooby repeats,
"Really! I mean, I don't know if you've ever noticed, Shaggy, but, I've always liked you", I admit,
"...Get outta here, like, me too!", he responds,
"Wait, what?! Why didn't you say anything?!", I questioned,
"Well, I mean...look at you", he blushes,
Making the heat rush to me cheeks too, as I pout in awe.
"You're so pretty and smart and nice...and you share your food with me! I mean, that takes a whole lotta moxie!", he explained,
Gosh, was he freaking adorable.
"That totally puts you out of my league!"
"Oh, Shaggy", I sigh,
Taking his scruffy face in my hands.
"You're the best guy I know", I reassure,
"Which is why I'm gonna do what I should've done a long time ago", I say,
Closing the gap that wedge us apart for years by pressing my lips against his.

The couch in all its neon greeness had been the same over the last 6 years. With the same garishly neon blue pillows in obnoxious shapes and as you stared at it it brought back when you and Conway had anxiously sat on it. When you began nervously sucking up to him, playing his sensitive side.
“I'm worried about you." Finnick popped a grape into his mouth as he sat on one of the velvety seats at the table. Honesty was his new approach, to tell you exactly what he was thinking especially if it was about you to force you to do the same. You were only a couple hours into the morning and this was evident.
“Why, Finnick?" You sighed, not in annoyance, well maybe a little bit in annoyance, but mostly the sigh had been one of love.
“I know we've both been back before, but not as tributes. You're going to start thinking about your games again as we go through the same steps. I'm worried you won't stay grounded."
“Yeah, well, I have you and as long as I can be in your arms I'll be okay."
He nodded observing you carefully, to make sure you weren't repressing anything deep within you, but he seemed satisfied for now. “It's not just you, I'm sure we're all going to be thinking a lot about the first time we were in this position." Finnick shrugged, grabbing another handful of grapes.
“Are you gonna be able to stay grounded?" You asked, putting down the knife you were using to butter your toast.
"I've managed this long.” He smirked, leaning forward, "Plus I've got you, angel.”
You rolled your eyes,"You're so cheesy.”
"What? So it's cheesy when I do it, but not when you do it?”
"Exactly.” You laughed. "Second day of married life and you're already catching on!”
"I'm a fast learner.” He raised his eyebrows, grinning.
The door opened and in came your escort. “Good morning, you two! Glad to see you've broken no more glasses, Finnick." She tutted, her dress was an eyesore to look at. You loved color, but her clashing bright ones made your head hurt.
“Nope, I've remembered my manners, Koalema.”
"Well that's good! Oh look, we're so close to arrival.” She kept babbling about something probably nonsensical. Koalema, why had you never been able to recall that name? You felt bad for not remembering, but it was so hard when she was flurry of chaos and overstimulation.
Finnick stood up and held his hand out for you, “Well here we go, angel. Be ready to put on that beloved smile and have those tears ready to spill. They love that about you." You took his hand and pulled yourself out of your seat.
“You don't need any instruction from me, always the charmer."
“Yeah, well I've had longer." The two of you prepared to greet the vultures waiting to eat up upon arrival. Standing in front of the window, hands tightly clasped together ready to gracefully swoop up your audience in their desired fantasy for the final time.
To smile at the people who had taken everything from you and completely controlled every aspect in your life. How people saw you, your relationship with Finnick, your relationship with yourself and your body, anything that you could think of they had somehow pulled strings in it. All of your life was under their thumb and you realized the lengths you would go to stop that, what would life be like when all you had left was memories that never needed to be reopened?
𓈒⠀𓂃⠀⠀˖⠀𓇬⠀˖⠀⠀𓂃⠀𓈒
It was beautiful. There was more food than you'd ever be able to eat and not a single scent of the salty seafood you were used to. Bright colors etched into your brain and everything was so modern, so clean. You had no idea what you'd expected, but it blew you away.
“This is where you two will be staying on our way to the Capitol! Isn't it beautiful? No expense has been spared, District 4 has a pretty good reputation of course and we'd like to keep that! So be in awe, but not so much that you forget about that." The garish woman said so cheerfully you were convinced you misheard her.
“No we wouldn't want that." Conway muttered and the woman gave him a sharp smile.
“Make yourselves at home, I do believe the two of you are very lucky and get the one, the only Finnick Odair as one of your mentors this year. Let me check on that and possibly, Odine." Her heels clicked out the room which inexplicably opened just as she stood in front of it.
Home. You'd never see home again, never swim in the comfort of its waters, see your family, lay in the warm sand. Yes, you would if you could win this, but you couldn't. And Finnick, how were you supposed to think about strategy when he would be right there?
“Are you okay?" A soft hand landed on your shoulder and Conway's deep, brown eyes spoke as much comfort as they could for you. Of course you weren't okay, how could you be? But saying that wouldn't endear him into you, so you melted into his touch.
You shook your head, closing your eyes, and sniffling. “What about you? How was your family?"
“Well at least I'm here with you and they'll be okay, at least they have each other too." Yes, at least you had someone you knew, yet also didn't that make it more difficult? He didn't ask about your family though, maybe if you kept a tally you'd feel less guilty by the end.
“Yeah, I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have someone I trusted. I'm just so scared, Conway.” With that you'd erupted into tears and he pulled his arms around you. They weren't stiff, but weren't comforting, not that you really needed his comfort.
“It's okay, we've got each other."
You already hated yourself.
With that the automatic door slid open, but you didn't tear yourself away. You knew who it would be, but he wouldn't believe you if you jumped from him. So you slowly moved your hands to wipe your face and made your voice shake as you let out your sweetest, “Thank you."
He nodded eagerly, he didn't say of course but you could see it in his eyes. A warm, but brisk voice interrupted the moment. “Glad you've already decided to ally with each other, makes it much more difficult when the tributes won't talk to one another." Finnick’s honeycomb sweet voice finally drew your eyes to his.
“Yes, it's an easier angle to work with." A tall woman beside him agreed, you recognized her from the screens, Ondine Afron, she sounded more tired then you'd remembered.
“We’ll be your mentors, teaching you with our experience the best ways to survive, how to get sponsors, and whatever else could help." Finnick grabbed a sugar cube from the bowl by the teapot, examining it before tossing it into his mouth.
Yes and him being a mentor could throw a wrench in your plans. Conway had heard every bit of the emotional rollercoaster that had been Finnick Odair, how could you convince him you loved him instead when the man of all your affections was right there.
“Nice to meet you both." Conway said curtly, he let himself glare slightly at the other man. Usually you'd scold him for this, you weren't the type to want tension, but you needed him to trust you. So you leaned into his side, looking up at him as innocently as you could. Willingly him with every molecule to believe you and for Finnick to leave you alone enough to make your performance more outstanding.
Later that night when you'd wandered the train's halls in a nightgown with a softness like you'd never experienced before, you'd passed by Finnick who had nothing but praise for the plan we could tell you were hatching. Of course he could tell, he knew every morsel of your being.
“You're so smart, angel, the way you came up with that in a matter of seconds. Being good on your feet like that could save you in the arena." He'd whispered, softly above the mechanical noises your brain had hyper fixated on since your arrival.
“Don't call me that." You muttered.
He sighed, looking down, “I'm sorry. I'm just-"
“Yeah, I know."
“You know I'd do anything to keep you safe, even if I haven't always been able to tell you what and now I've failed, but here you are, I mean the way you manipulated your eyes like that was brilliant. The audience is going to be under your finger just keep doing what you're doing." Suddenly his hands were around yours, a movement so familiar it made you shudder.
“Finnick, please don't." You tugged your hands, half-heartedly, not really letting them escape his loose grip.
“I'm sorry, I know you don't understand why I hurt you, but it'll all make sense once you win this thing."
“Yeah, sure." You rolled your eyes, this was a tiring waltz between the two of you. Him claiming it was to protect you while you couldn't know from what, even now when you were on the brink of inevitable death.
“I promise." He stilled all his shifting and movements, sea green eyes boring so deeply into the depths of your heart there was no choice but to trust him. You couldn't help yourself and leaned in, delicately letting your lips graze his cheek.
“I have to go find his room. You know, do what I can." There was slight laughter behind your tone and Finnick nodded, softly smiling.
"My smart girl.” He muttered, glowing in the lamp light. I miss you, your brain screamed as you gazed at him, suddenly the tears you were trying to force up to sell your act were easier to conjure up. So you left him in the dim lights of the train car to convince Conway of how badly you needed his comfort now that you were away from home.
𓈒⠀𓂃⠀⠀˖⠀𓇬⠀˖⠀⠀𓂃⠀𓈒
“Secret wedding is all anyone can talk about." Your designer, Cambrie, sounded like bright citrus, drinking orange juice for breakfast. “Especially those seaweed rings, so bolstering for my ideas to run their course!" She smiled, clearly full of anticipation for her idea to be revealed to you.
Truthfully you couldn't care less about it, you wanted to be back at Finnick's side. As the years passed being alone with people from the Capitol no matter who they were or what they intended nauseated you. “Oh come on, Cambrie, I'm going to die of anticipation!" You proclaimed with as much drama as you could, pouting.
"Oh you're adorable.” She clapped like you were some sort of performing dog and pinched your cheeks, actually pinched your cheeks. The infantilization made you want to retreat but that would never be an option. “Reignbaugh was going to go with a fishing net to look for Finnick to pay homage to the District of course, and similarly with you I was thinking to draw it together, but the seaweed combined to call back to the rings. Everyone will eat it up, and oh I have a lovely pearl headdress you are going to be stunning!”
You gushed to her, but internally felt your stomach turn. This really meant she was going to try and show as much as you off as she could. Of course this turned out to be true. The outfit could have been beautiful if in reality it wasn't so dehumanizing. The seaweed running through the fishing net dress that adorned you barely covered your nipples and much of your body was clearly visible to those who stood close enough.
"And of course for the Capitol Princess.” Cambrie announced, placing her elegantly made crown, you had to admit it was beautiful. The way each pearl shined between the seaweed. Although you did think the seaweed usage was over the top, the choice of it for the rings hadn't really been significant, it was just there in a place you both loved. It was marketable though. Her and your other stylists had also gone to great effort to make your eyes look as watery as possible, even adding pearly effects to make it look like you were crying them. It was too all too much, but you oohh’d and awed which they adored you even more for.
“Don't you look handsome." You remarked all too sarcastically as you approached Finnick and his bare chest.
“Oh just smile and wave, angel, they're savoring the last time they'll see either of us like this.” It was lighthearted and he pressed a kiss to the side of your head, but it did comfort you. Eventually your body would simply be yours again." There she is.” He whispered, your eyes followed him to her, Katniss Everdeen.
“Well you better go make your introduction then."
“Well ladies first." He gestured, expectantly.
“No, I don't think my first introduction should be like this." You pointed up and down the outfit. "You go, it'll seem perfectly on brand for you.”
Finnick nodded, you could tell he had more he wanted to say, to lecture on but there wasn't much time. You looked around the room, toying with the fishnet nervously before you heard someone call your name and looked in the direction.
"Didn't expect you to be the type with nerves.” A voice quickly caught your attention. Peeta Mellark.
"Only at the worst times.” You grimaced, shaking your head.
Peeta smiled, "Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who gets them.”
"Oh far from it, I bet you 75% of the people in here are trying not to throw up right now.”
“Which one's are fine then?" He stood by you observing the occupants.
“While obviously it's neither of us, I'm thinking District 11 too many years in for either of them to be worrying."
“1 & 2?"
“Bingo!" You announced, tilting your head.
“Surprised you didn't say Katniss." He remarked.
"Surprised you didn't say Finnick.” You countered.
"The thrills of pretending to not be shaking.” He shook his head with a smirk.
"Masters of that game. In fact she looks like she might just kill him now.” You tried not to laugh at how Katniss looked at Finnick who you knew was trying desperately to work his charms.
"Well, I'd best go save him then.”
"Oh, yes it would only be mildly entertaining.”
"It was nice meeting you, considering the circumstances.” Peeta exuded kindness in a way you could only aspire too, it genuinely hurt your soul.
“Yes, a mind numbing extravaganza thrown here would have been much more enjoyable, as horrendous as that is to say."
"I only ever attended one and just from that, I ever so gravely attest to that. I better go break the two up before she attacks.”
"Oh please do, can't have him squabbling already.” Peeta smiled and soon enough Finnick was stalking back your way.
"She'll come around.” He assured before you could even open your mouth as the two of you stepped into the carriage.
"I'm sure she will. Peeta and I could feel the tension from a room away.”
"Everybody likes me.”
"I'm sure talking like that is exactly why she doesn't.” You nudged him playfully.
"Oh shut up.” He rolled his eyes.
"That's no way to talk to your wife, Mr. Odair.”
“I apologize, Mrs. Odair." He pulled you in for a kiss just as the carriage came into the bright sunlight, the screaming proved its effectiveness to you. It was sure to leave an impact on them when they looked back on the tribute parade.

Charlie: "Dad. Did you post this."
Lucifer: "Oh my 'selfie' with your dear lovely Maggie?? Why yes I DID! Do you like it!?"
Charlie: "Dad."
Lucifer: "Since she's your loving girlfriend, who you love, I thought gosh! I should really have on my social media page! Make a change from all the ducks, ha ha!"
Charlie: "Dad did you write the- the caption on it?"
Lucifer: "The c- oh yes! Well I wanted everyone to know how much I ADORE my daughter's girlfriend!!"
Charlie: "You wrote-"
Lucifer: "See, the 'bad' here means 'good'! I checked! Bad and bitch are bad on their own, but when you put them together it's like a, er, a double negative making a positive, haha! Maggie's a bad bitch- she's AWESOME- which ahaha I'm sure YOU know since you're dating her-and now all of Hell knows I think so too!!!! ISN'T THAT SWELL!"
Charlie: "But the actual whole caption says-"
Lucifer: "'ME AND THE BAD BITCH I PULLED BY BEING CHARLIE'S DAD'!"
Lucifer: "Aww and the picture turned out so great! Look!"
Lucifer: ".... you don't look super thrilled about it, Char-char."
Charlie: "Pulled, dad... Do you know what 'pulled' can mean exactly, specifically, in THIS context..?"
Lucifer: "... pulled.... into a... hug? Like in the selfie...?"
Charlie: "Dad."
Charlie: (deep breath) "I can't believe I'm saying this..."
Charlie: "You made it sound like you SLEPT WITH my girlfriend."
Lucifer: "......."
Lucifer: "Oh. HA! That's..."
Lucifer: (deflating balloon noises as he literally shrivels up into a crumpled pile of clothes mostly hidden by his hat)
Charlie: "We're not angry!"
Lucifer: ".... i m s o r r y..."
Charlie: "It's okay!!! IT'S FINE. A little mentally scarring and socially mortifying not to mention something our friends won't EVER let us live down, but- well- Just... Just-"
Charlie: "No more social media meme posting without running them past me or Vaggie first, alright!?"
Lucifer: "If I delete the post maybe no one else will see it...."
Charlie: "Everyone in Hell has already seen it, dad."
Lucifer: "..i could delete myself instead"
Charlie: "And HOW would that help?"
Lucifer: "...it would make me feel better..."
Vaggie: "Honestly sir, the most embarrassing part is how you look young enough to be my teenage son."
Charlie: "Thanks, Vaggie."
Vaggie: "Check out my stress wrinkles and scars next his baby smooth face. It's like I picked him up from a cradle somewhere."
Charlie: "Please don't joke about cradle robbing my actual father."
Vaggie: "Sorry babe."
Charlie: "I mean I'll NEVER be able to look at ANY of my parents' family portraits the same way ever AGAIN, but thank you for being SO understanding about the rumor you're dating my DAD!"
Vaggie: "Sir, what kinda skin routine are you even doing?"
Lucifer: "room full of rubber ducks and despair"
Charlie: "VAGGIE PLEASE."
Vaggie: "Sweetie, I'm ruffling his hair in the pic. It's hilarious."
Charlie: "I DON'T NEED THE REMINDER!"
Vaggie: "Feels like I'm about to call the king of hell 'kiddo' or something."
Lucifer: (a puddle on the floor) "i thought it was funny too"
Charlie: "Okay.... okay."
Charlie: "You two NEED to find a bonding activity that doesn't TRAUMATIZE me."
Vaggie: "Hmm."
Lucifer: "OH WE COULD-"
Charlie: "Or each other!"
Lucifer: "Oh well then I have nothing!"
Vaggie: "We'll always have that time you fake dated me online, sir someday dad-in-law."
Lucifer: "Our beautifully shared new horrifying past..."
Charlie: "Ha ha HA! Keep this up and either the dad part or the someday in-law part is gonna stop being accurate REAL quick!"
Vaggie: "It will?"
Charlie: "No but I'm trying to threaten you two right now so SHUSH."

"Dokyeom just sent a text, beach day this weekend?" Joshua asks as he reads the message on his phone, walking towards the sofa where you're currently sitting
"Are we staying the whole weekend or day trip?" you look up at him
"Day trip, Gyu and Cheol has a thing to do the next day. Dokyeom will text the group chat now" Joshua reads the last text before locking his phone and turning his attention to you
"Are we driving together?" he asks
"Yea sure"
"Really?"
"Yeah, you 'drove' me home last time and you've done it plenty times before" you shrug. Usually you'd catch a ride with your other friends to not raise any suspicion, your boyfriend would also drive you every now and then so it wouldn't look like the two of you are avoiding each other.
"You know I'm not keeping us a secret because I'm ashamed or embarrassed or anything like that right?" you tell him, Joshua shoots you a small smile then takes your hand in his
"I know, I would never think that baby"
"I just want our little bubble to last for as long as we can enjoy, the moment they find out about us we will never hear the end of it" you joke
"They're rooting for us" he gives you a tap on the nose, making you scrunch it. The small action melting Joshua's heart, he's already so smitten over you but there are still times he can't believe you're his.
"Guess we're going to the beach"
The weekend comes, a few of your friends and their partners gather for the mini one day vacation. Usually someone takes the initiative to think of an activity or a location then just inform the rest. It's always fun to hangout with everyone.
"How was your date with Shua" Soonyoung asks you, wiggling his brows at you. Dokyeom, who is sitting beside him while cutting the watermelon, looks over at you when he heard the question
"He finally asked you out?"
"What do you mean finally?" Soonyoung was just about to ask but you said it first, Dokyeom looked like he regret saying it but he already slipped and he knows there's no escaping Soonyoung
"He just mentioned a few times he wanted to ask you out, for like coffee or something. I thought at first he meant as a group but then he said no, as in like out on date" he tells the two of you, you fight the smile forming on your face as you hear the story. Wondering what else your boyfriend tell your friends about you.
"So did he?"
"Yeah we got coffee"
"OH MY GOD SO IT WAS A DATE"
You pull on Soonyoung's shirt, making him seat again "Be so loud about it will you"
"You two totally have heart eyes for each other, I'm calling it. You're gonna get married one day"
You don't say anything, just shaking your head at your overly enthusiastic friends. The conversation flows for a while, then Mingyu comes inviting the other guys to ride jetski's
You follow behind the trio, spotting Joshua by the dock already wearing a life vest and holding another one.
The other boys, some with their girlfriends, go on their own jetski's then rides away.
You're happy to watch on the sidelines, you're not really an outdoor person. Joshua is very aware you don't really like staying under the sun for too long but the weather is so nice, looking around he spots you not to far from where he was.
He walks towards you, you see him and shoot him a smile
"You going out there?" you ask, noting your boyfriend's appearance. It really is getting harder and harder to keep this a secret, especially with how he looks right now. He looks more radiant than the sun.
The glasses pushing his semi-wet hair, the blank tank he's wearing underneath the life jacket, and the cute smile you love so much.
He nods at your question then holds out the other life jacket towards you, "Come with me"
"You know I can't swim" you reply, but Shua just smiles at you. Inching closer and closer until he's only about two steps away from you.
You look around for your friends, "They're all busy, look there's Gyu and his girl. It's totally fine. I'm not gonna let you fall in the ocean, baby"
You look at him, he's trying to woo you with his looks. You know he knows just how to make you say yes. He tilts his head sideways cutely, and show you a loopsided smile.
You roll your eyes then take the life jacket from him, "If I fall there, I'm taking you with me"
"Trust me, I will be jumping right behind you"
You walk towards where the jet ski is waiting, Joshua jumps down first then holds his hand out for you to guide you. You settle behind him, holding on his waist tightly. You can feel him laugh, "You're enjoying this aren't you?"
"I enjoy the most when you're with me, my love. Now, hold on real tight"
Then you're off.
And he's right, it is fun. At the beginning you were still to scared to let go, holding on to Shua as tight as you can. Then after a while he can hear you laughing whenever he takes a turn. For a while you just go around and around on the open water.
When you finally go back to the dock, the rest of your friend group are also there. It's past lunch time and you haven't eaten yet. You can hear Dokyeom and Soonyoung talking about food already.
You and Joshua were the last ones to get off, he goes first then waits for you. But unlike when he helped you on, he didn't take your hand this time. Instead you were surprised when you feel his arm go around your waist to hold you and lift you up slightly until you're standing beside him.
You look up at him, blinking like a deer caught in the headlight. The headlight being your two male friends who were watching the whole scene, surprised like you are.
"Uh thanks" you breath out, showing him a tight lipped smile before walking ahead. Meanwhile Joshua doesn't fight the big smile, his eyes disappearing. He watches you catch up with Mingyu and his girlfriend while Soonyoung and Dokyeom looks back and forth between you and him
"Oh my god, look who finally grew the balls to finally make a move"
Joshua shakes his head, then starts to walk.
"I heard you finally asked her out on a date"
"She told you?" He asks back
"Yea, but really? a coffee date? not even a fancy dinner?" Soonyoung prods
"We'll get there, I just want her to be comfortable. And we had fun" Joshua smile unconsciously just thinking about it. Technically the two of you did go out for coffee, then you stayed over at his for movie night. They didn't need to know the rest of the details but you and him didn't really do much watching, you don't even remember what the title of the film was.
When the rest of the boys finally catch up, you all decided on a cute restaurant near the beach. Soonyoung of course shoots you a look when Joshua sits beside you.
The food was good, made even better with the company. All of you were just chatting about life, sharing stories from your past hangouts and everyday lives. Dokyeom and Mingyu were telling a particularly funny story, all of you on the table were laughing so hard you didn't even notice you leaned sideways until your head was resting on Joshua's shoulder.
He didn't notice it either because to him it's a normal thing. He even sat straight and threw his arm behind your chair so you would be more comfortable. You didn't think twice about tucking yourself on his side and smiling up at him, your boyfriend mirroring the action.
You only notice the table going quiet, making you look over and sure enough everyone was looking at the two of you.
"I uh I was just, I had something in my eye. I was asking him to look"
"Yea she had something... in.. her... eye"
Some looked confused while the others looked at you suspiciously. Especially Soonyoung. You just know he's about to bombard you with questions.
When it's time to say goodbye, you all go back to your respective rides. Joshua is talking to Mingyu, walking right ahead of you.
"So.. that little cute moment"
"I did it... unconciously. I was laughing"
"Mhm"
"I was!"
Soonyoung laughs, "It was cute, you two look good together and Joshua's a great guy"
"I know" you pout
"You didn't hear from me, but he likes you. If that's what you're worried about" he tells you, he really is a good friend. He's one of your bestfriend, next to Shua. You've known him for years now and he truly always means well, you trust Soonyoung to always know what is good.
"It wouldn't be awkward if I date our friend?"
"No, why would it be? It'll be cool. Bound to happen anyways, statistically speaking someone from our friend group is bound to end up together. Who knows, we'll plan to go to your wedding next"
You laugh at that, it wasn't impossible technically. It's somewhere in the future. You hope. You wish. You really do pray he's the one you end up with.
"You're smiling" Soonyoung teases you
"Okay okay, gosh. Do more of that and I won't invite you"
"Invite him to what?" the two of you didn't notice Joshua stopped walking with Mingyu to wait for you
"Nothing" you answer
"Your wedding" Soonyoung says at the same time, making you hit him on the side.
Joshua just laughs, but on the inside he's cheering. Just thinking about one day marrying you is enough to put a smile on his face for days. You really are the one for him.
He had to stop himself from pulling you in a hug, so he watches you with a fond smile on his face. The sun setting on the background casting a beautiful shadow on your face and he thinks he can just get down on one knee right here right now.
"Oh god, look at you. You know what, I'm leaving. You two solve this by yourselves" Soonyoung says when he sees Joshua just watching you.
You wave bye to your friend before turning to look back at the man standing beside you
"What?" you ask him,
He shakes his head and just continues on smiling at you.
You narrow your eyes at him, not satisfied with his answer but you let it go. He looked to cute to be mad at anyways.
"Let's go home, shall we. One more second without a kiss and I'll collapse" Joshua says, mentioning for you to walk ahead while he follows
"I can just imagine their reactions when they hear you" you tell him
"They'll get used to it"
"Mhm, they'll finally see you being a simp" you tease him
"Baby, for you I'd be anything. Call me baby, honey, love, boyfie even hubby I don't mind" he teases back
"You are... you know let's just go home"

“The leaves are changing!”
In which >>> You and your partner(s) notice the vibrant colors of the now orange and red leaves on the trees.
Featuring >>> Alastor, Charlie, Emily, & Vaggie.
(Since I am technically a day behind, I’m posting two today to catch up, sorry for the delay. 😭)
☆ Alastor ☆
Alastor is never comfortable enough around people to let his guard down. He's always high alert around others, and even by himself. Yet, feels oddly safe around you, though. He feels like nothing could hurt him when he's in your presence. It's odd. Evidently, he feels safe enough around you, because after almost a week of restless pacing at night and not getting any rest due to his paranoia, Alastor found himself dropping into sleep on your shoulder.
“Alastor, look at the leaves-“ You immediately shut up once you notice he’s asleep. Alastor remains fast asleep on your shoulder. He seems to be getting some well-needed rest, and he sure wouldn't mind staying in your presence for a little while longer. As Alastor remains sleeping on you, his body unconsciously presses closer to you for comfort, seeking out your body heat as though to soak it up. He snuggles up to you a little more, seeking your warmth and affection unconsciously. He's never been this vulnerable around anyone before. You are as stiff as a board, having the literal radio demon sleeping on you.
Alastor senses your stiffness and subconsciously presses closer to you, as though to seek a sense of safety and security that he can only seem to find while he's near you. As he presses against you, a soft, almost inaudible purring sound emits from Alastor, a sound that he was unaware he was even making. As he abruptly wakes up, he notices that he's practically clinging to you, his head nestled against your shoulder. A jolt of surprise courses through him as he quickly pulls away, cheeks flushed in embarrassment.
You look out the window at the brightly covered leaves on the trees that surround pentagram city. Alastor follows your gaze, and his expression shifts to one of mild confusion as he notices you staring out the window. He clears his throat, still trying to recover from the embarrassment of having unwittingly dozed off on your shoulder.
He clears his throat once more. "It seems I… dozed off.” He says, trying to downplay the fact that he had actually slept on your shoulder, seeking comfort in your presence. “Yeah…uhm…” You trail off. Alastor notices the awkward tension in the air and decides to quickly change the subject. "Well, I suppose I was rather tired…" He trails off, still feeling self-conscious about his vulnerability.
He clears his throat again, looking anywhere but at you as he tries to find something to say, anything to fill the silence. "I… appreciate your patience in dealing with my… err, brief slumber,” He says finally, unable to bring himself to directly mention that he had dozed off on your shoulder. “It’s no problem really. Alastor nods curtly, still feeling a bit embarrassed. The fact that he'd slept on your shoulder, unconsciously seeking your warmth and comfort, was something he never thought he'd be capable of doing.
☆ Charlie & Vaggie ☆
“So…what are we gonna dress up as?” Charlie asks, still holding onto you as her hands wrap around you and Vaggie’s arms as she sits inbetween you. Vaggie rolls her eyes, setting her phone down and getting up from the couch. “We're not dressing up.” Vaggie says, putting her foot down. “But Halloween is this weekend, we have to dress up for it!” Charlie exclaims.
“We could go as the Heathers…?” You suggest. Charlie's eyes light up, already loving the idea. “Oh my God! Yes! I love that play! And I call being Chandler!” She says while jumping up and down excitedly. Her eyes glimmering with delight. “Well red is your color.” You say. Charlie beams, and Vaggie can’t help but chuckle. “As long as I don’t have to be McNamara,” she says.
Charlie nods quickly, loving the idea. “Yes! Perfect! We’re settled! We're doing our Halloween as the Heathers!" Vaggie smiles at Charlie's enthusiasm and shakes her head lightly in amusement. "Yeah, it sounds like it's gonna be pretty fun. We'll have to find some outfits and maybe grab some accessories. But we've got time to get everything ready before the weekend." Charlie squeals in excitement at her girlfriend's comment.
You look outside to see the leaves of hell changing from their normal dead black color, into beautiful shades of orange and red. “Guys look!” You point to the window. Charlie and Vaggie both turn their heads, observing the world outside the hotel. The leaves of the trees are changing color from green to shades of orange and red. Vaggie rolls her eyes. "Really? Leaves?”
“They're beautiful.” You state. Charlie smiles softly, feeling the warm, fuzzy joy swell in her chest. “You're right. It is beautiful.” Vaggie’s annoyance slowly subsides with the sight. Even she can’t deny the beauty of nature in the fall season. “We have to stop and smell the roses every once in a while.” You comment.
Charlie nods, absolutely agreeing with you. "Exactly! It's important to take time to appreciate the small things in life. Like the changing of the leaves or the scent of fresh rain. The sound of birds chirping in the trees. All these little moments make life so special." Vaggie grunts softly, still pretending to be annoyed but enjoying the little display of affection. The three of you spend the rest of the fall evening cuddled up by the fire.
☆ Emily ☆
You walk with Emily through the beautiful gates of Heaven. She skips along beside you, her wings fluttering with sheer joy. She giggles softly, her silver-tipped head tilting inquisitively as she gazes up at you. "Isn't it wonderful here?"
“It is.” You agree, her contagious laughter making you let out a few giggles as well. *Emily nods eagerly in agreement, her eyes shimmering with childlike awe. The serene landscape and radiant light of Heaven seem to bring out a profound sense of tranquility in the young angel. With each step, she hops lightly, her dress swaying gently in rhythm with her joyful gait.
Her eyes glimmered with excitement and awe as she looked around, taking in the view of the leaves changing color and crunching underneath her feet. She would occasionally pick up a maple leaf and play with it, spinning it between her fingers or watching it dance in the breeze before letting it fall to the ground. She smiles and looks over at you. “Do you like the leaves?”
“Of course. They’re beautiful…Just like you.” You flirt. A bashful and giddy smile spreads across Emily’s face as her cheeks take on a subtle blush. She playfully twirls a strand of her blue-tipped silver hair around her finger, clearly elated by your compliment. Her eyes sparkle with delighted joy. It’s as if your words had enchanted her.
"You really think so?" Emily asks hopefully, her gaze turning bashful yet curious. Her wings flutter gently behind her, a soft hum of pleasure escaping as she waits for your response. At your confirmation, Emily’s smile grows broader, and her face turns a deeper shade of pink. Her wings flutter a little faster behind her in excitement and gratitude, making a soft, humming sound as she skips a little closer. “Thank you.” She says softly as she twirls a lock of her soft white hair around her finger.

I keep seeing the take of "vote blue no matter who is fascism/leads to fascism" literal days before the election and people going on tirades about how we're licking their boots while they kick our teeth in and I'm just so fucking tired. I just. Am so tired. I also saw someone explicitly mention "they could eviscerate a baby on the stage and you'd still vote for them" and that just SEEMS anti-Semitic. I sincerely hate this so much. I see people also claiming that "withholding your vote is the only political power you have" and I want to scream.
And I'm straight up seeing people say "Oh so republicans will be so much worse? Then we die together" and holy fucking shit these people are awful, straight up the most selfish motherfuckers I've ever seen in my life. They really are just hoping for a "revolution" so they can cosplay as the anarchists they've always wanted to for a few brief moments before they get jailed/straight-up killed. They don't care about the millions, billions of people who's lives are about to get so much worse thanks to this.
I'm sorry for doing such a rant but oh my god. Why are people like this.
where's that tweet about firebombing Wal-Mart and then not?
maybe the greatest tweet of all time.
any ways, I was just out and about in the real world knocking on doors and yeah I was knocking easy turf (every other house was a Democrat pride float of signs and banners) but I can tell you these internet edge lords aren't real, I mean in some cases literally not real being fake people meant to demotivate voters. But even those who are real Americans who really feel that way, they're such a tiny unimportant minority that they're not really real and spoiler most people like that are NEVER voters, they don't vote, ever so like "I'm not gonna vote" you didn't before so you don't really factor in, its like children, how they feel doesn't matter because they can't vote.
The real feeling out there is good, you know, I'm tired, and I'm going out again tomorrow, thats what its really about, they bitch about Democrats and shit but we're out talking to people, organizing, mobilizing, and voting, they want a Revolution, well then here it is you can turn the world if you do the work.
people saying they won't vote for a better world is stupid, and its childish, I think of all the fights we've fought, all the little wins that build up to national victories, we have a chance to keep going forward, to break down more barriers, to right more wrongs to make the American Dream available to more people who never before had a shot, we can be a more perfect union, and we can do great things together. Or we can allow the gift we have been given, guarded by generations in blood and pain in the fields of Gettysburg, Beaches of Normandy, in the dirt of Philadelphia, Mississippi, and in the street in front of the Stonewall Inn to be take away from us, to allow a Government for, by and of the people to vanish from the Earth. Thats the choice, the rest is noise.

We're back! again, if these silly recaps help lift your mood in any way, it makes me very happy ♥ I baked chocolate chip cookies for this so imagine I'm sharing them with you 🍪
previously, in harrowcita del 9:
this happened
also @unexpected-tigers linked me to an official house quiz and I did it so, if you want to know what I got and how I answered, I'll add it under "read more" after the recap
CHAPTER 44
listen, I need to start listing things I got right and things I got wrong but I forget at this point what I said
you're gonna have to remind me if I got something right and I didn't catch it because I remember what I got wrong more easily than what I got right
such is life
I'll do my best to try to tally but
I got wrong the narrator, I assumed that, because they were insulting harrow, it might be harrow too
but I forgot about gideon also being a pro at insulting harrow so, guess what?
IT WAS GIDEON
WELCOME BACK, BABE, WE MISSED YOU
CRYING TEARS OF JOY
of actual joy, not mercygirl-joy
to be fair, the narration was very different from gideon's perspective, to account for 1) the twist and 2) the fact that gideon's gideon-ness came out more and more as she got closer to the surface of perception in harrow's body
something she kind of explains later
but yeah, I got that wrong
however, I did get the purgatory situation of canaan house somewhat right and I forgot to mention it last time
ANYWAY, BACK TO GIDEON
CUE 'I AM THE BEST' BY 2NE1 IN THE BACKGROUND
someone stabbed harrow from the back, which is very shitty behavior from whoever it was
so gideon comes back into the real world with the immediate danger of her vessel, necromancer and partner in crime having been stabbed
and she was "left behind" because harrow is back in her canaan purgatory river bubble
with her ghostie ghoulie friends
gideon immediately finds out that harrow can't fight for shit
she's determined to kick the stabber's ass but it's gonna be hard when she's used to her massive guns and ninja warrior disposition and she's inside the body of a baby kitten
gideon's very eloquent commentary is "Fuck. Oh, shit. Oh, fucking hell. Help. Yuck. Aaaargh."
it's so nice to have her back :')
she's talking to harrow in the second person, as she's been doing all this time unbeknownst to those of us who didn't catch it
"which proves that you can put the swordfighter into the necromancer but you can't, wait, hang on"
god, I missed her
gideon is also coming to terms with the fact that harrowcita has regenerating abilities now
she is very angry at the awful state in which her two handed sword is
if you knew, gideon, about the relationship between harrow and your sword and how layered it was...
"Harrowhark, I gave you my whole life and you didn't even want it"
so gideon starts taking control of the situation because the beast is chasing them
absolutely no chill over here in the emperor's bolthole
and by "them" I mean gideon and harrow because idk where the everliving fuck everyone else is
I know the emperor is hiding in weenie hut jr but the rest are supposed to be fighting
except for whoever was going around stabbing people
and idk where not!dulcinea is at this point either
maybe someone's using her to stab harrow idk, I'll never stop blaming her for things, even indirectly
gideon is doing a great job with what she has available because she's "a good girl and you're an evil nun"
she's also still going on about harrow leaving her behind and saying "you never got rid of being so absolutely fucking goddamn sad"
chisus christ gideon, tell us how you really feel about her
gideon looks at herself in the mirror and sees harrow with her eyes and her expressions, which is very uncanny valley
"This was your shell, but it was all filled up with me. God, the double entendres were hard to resist"
yandere twin would appreciate that one, I think, maybe
gideon proceeds to taunt harrow to come back by using her voice to say things like "Oooooh, Palamedes. I am measurably less intelligent than you. Put your tongue in my mouth and I'll flop my tongue against it."
"Ohhhhhrr, Gideon. I was so dumb to think a tub of ancient freezer meat was my girlfriend. Please show me how to do a press-up. Also, I'm very obviously attracted to y—"
no no, by all means, go on
please, gideon, go on with that idea, let's see where it takes us
in other important but not as spicy events
gideon cuts the beast thing in two with her own sword
but now we've got the heralds to go through
"Don't worry, honey. I'll keep the home fires burning."
same energy as
CHAPTER 45
we're back in hotel california canaan house au river bubble
I'm sure that description makes it all super clear for anyone reading
abby and her hubby are taking harrowcita to the secret hideout of the lost boys aka the room behind the tapestry that is now untouched by the body horrors going on in this version of canaan house
and where all our ghostie ghoulie friends are hanging out
it was a person's room, says harrow, and I think we all know it was alleged gideon's aka ortus, but we'll get to that
I need to point out the fact that harrow says she always thought not!dulcinea showed signs of "suppurating ego" but that she could never convince gideon to "see past the appealing eyes and softly clinging dresses"
I KNOW, GIRL, IT DROVE ME FERAL TOO
apparently harrowcita's invite also got to the kids of the fourth but abby sent them back to the river with a kiss in the forehead and their lunch packed
because she had adopted them, as we all know
she said "if only Silas had asked me, what has happened to his soul worries me horribly"
of course I didn't remember that silas was mayonnaise uncle and had to do math for a while in my head
maybe he's out there looking for duracell bunny nephew's soul that is still travelling through the river
abby learned a way to send them back into the river but everyone present wants to help deal with this haunt situation harrow's got going on
honestly, props to martita for hanging around, judith is a lot less cooperative
abby also thinks there's something wrong with the river and that the emperor is unaware of it because he doesn't know about the river beyond
she has studied a lot about it
and that the fact that the "beyond the river" concept has been looked at with scorn by everyone for so long has made the potential studies of it stagnant
I love her a lot at this point
I mean, I'm still 100% a camilla girlie, I'm putting camilla's photo in one of those glittery clear files and covering it with heart stickers, don't get me wrong, but this woman is fierce af
abby, you know more than the emperor, you're more worthy than he is, please murder him
NOW IT'S TIME TO GET EMOTIONAL
GRAB YOUR TISSUES
IT'S ORTUS TIME
man, ortus won me with this chapter, he's great, let's keep him
let him be happy in the infinity of time with his fifth polycule
harrow tries to tell him that he doesn't have to apologize to her, that she owes him for crux murdering him and his mom
(interlude for "her unconscious gracelessness to Camilla Hect; a girl whom, in reality, she should have taken by the hands and thanked her profusely for every time she tried to save her cavalier")
(glad we're in agreement there)
they talk about how gideon died and ortus tells harrow that gideon never did anything without intent
"she had been outplayed by Palamedes Sextus, outgunned by Cytherea the First, undone by Gideon Nav"
damn, harrow
LISTEN TO THIS PART YOU FOLKS
"I should have offered help. I should have died for you. Gideon should still be alive. I was, and am, a grown man, and you both were neglected children."
ORTUS, MY MAN
THIS MADE ME SO EMOTIONAL
"she and Gideon had become women before their time, and watched each other's childhood crumble away like so much dust. But there was a part of her soul that wanted to hear it —wanted to hear it from Ortus's lips more, even than from the lips of God. He had been there. He had witnessed."
"I will hope better for heroism in my death"
ORTUS I'M HOLDING YOU TIGHT AND CARESSING THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD LIKE A PUPPY
harrow finds the "g&p" note
GUESS WHAT
GUESS WHO WAS RIGHT ABOUT THAT
ALLEGED GIDEON IS ACTUAL GIDEON THE FIRST
AND HARROW THINKS OUR GIDEON WAS NAMED AFTER HIM
I mean I had trust in my alleged gideon theory BUT I CAN'T BELIEVE I CALLED THE OTHER PART MAYBE TOO???
sixth house please accept me
she also finds another note, similar to the rant notes she had been finding, which reads: "the only thing our civilisation can ever learn from yours is that when our backs are to the wall and our towers are falling all around us and we are watching ourselves burn we rarely become heroes"
are the letters clues on the angry spirit that's haunting harrow?????
does it relate to gideon???
but when harrow is about to ask ortus about gideon ("less like tragedy and more like carelessness" 👀) abby interrupts
abby, interrupting me again when I'm getting to the good stuff
but I can't be angry at her because she says she'll exorcise the Sleeper
YOU GO ABBY, YOU LORRAINE WARREN THAT STUFF
And that's where we leave it for today!!! my willpower is strong and I know I can't make these too annoyingly long. Which is why, if you wanna know how I did with the House quiz, look after "read more". If not, see you for the next one!!! Super soon!!! Sending you all hugs in these difficult times ♥
So, this is the quiz that I did, the official author-made one.
I GOT *drumroll* A TIE BETWEEN THE SIXTH AND THE FOURTH
The author said that, in the event of a tie "Pick the House descriptor most like yourself, or most like the person you secretly wish you were, or with the colours you like best."
We all absolutely know where I'm going if I'm left to pick between those two.
To be totally transparent, I'm gonna show you my very messy notes, which I wasn't initially planning on showing, so I apologize for them not being neat and tidy. I added the skull I have in my desk as aesthetic compensation for the messy handwriting.
I picked 1st the pen and flimsy because, if I'm doomed and this is it for me, I want to go out writing. The bottle, because I considered a vessel for separating things or for keeping something in safely would be useful. The rapier, because I always take a swiss army knife in my purse with my keys and the rapier was the closest thing to that. The flare gun, because I might as well try to signal somehow, at least some of us could get saved. And the raft not to try to escape, like the answer said, but because if we're more than one person in the boat, having more space, even if somewhat leaky, could help out for different situations.
I did consider every potential option that could be turned into food but I'd rather die of something else than food poisoning of any kind.
I got the Fifth in second place, and I wouldn't have minded if I got the Fifth, honestly. In 3rd place I got Seventh and Eighth as a tie, I'm not gonna ask about that. The Second got fourth place, the Third got fifth and 0 points for the Ninth, I'm so sorry.
You should have seen my face when I saw a portrait of the Emperor was an option to take with you lmao
