Hello hello!!!! I've just got my first turkish spindle, a tiny 3d printed one so i can spin lovely cobwebs. I painted the tips so it looks like a citrus while it spins. 🥰 My questions are: What is the spindle that you've spun that huge turtle of blue thread and plied on? How much weight can you fit on this spindle? The finished skein, is that all from one spindle or multiple turtle cobs?! I AM ASTONISHED AT THE POSSIBILITIES AVAILABLE TO MY FUTURE. Thank you for sharing your work and showing me how amazingly productive spindleing can be. *waits patiently while spinning more tiny turtles*

Hiiii!!!
Your Turkish spindle looks lovely, my first two were 3d printed, a great way to try a new spindle type without breaking the bank.
Sooo, about the spindle with which I spun the unicorn 2.0 by world of wool, aka my favourite one (but don't tell the others shhh). You can find similar ones in the gliders section of Snyder's spindles, the worl is 15 cm wide, and the shaft is 21 cm long. I managed to spin 100 g of laceweight wool in one turtle, and the skein you saw was all of it, more than 700 m of 2 ply thread!
Essentially I use two tricks:
1- aiming to make high turtles more than fat turtles
2- when the spindle starts being heavy (and the single starts breaking too much) I use it as a sustained spindle more than a drop one.
