Post-Umbrella Academy S4 Reaction Part One: Reacting More to the Fandom than the Show (only vaguely spoilery)
I would like to state for the record that I enjoyed The Umbrella Academy Season Four. I had plenty of issues— things that weren’t to my taste, abandoned or neglected plot or character threads, plot contrivances and wasted opportunities— and I wasn’t satisfied with the ending AT ALL (it COULD have worked if done…completely differently?)—but I enjoyed myself, minus the downer at the very end (and I mean VERY end, I was hoping for more post-credit redemption than we got, and that could’ve fixed it for me). It’s like that post I reblogged this morning goes— there’s enjoyment, there’s in-universe sense, and there’s art-of-storytelling sense, and they can all stand separately.
I’d love to chew over the stupid bits and gush over the brilliant bits, but it’s kind of hard right now, because so much of the reactions online are not, well, objectively balanced discussions? People’s issues erased any of the enjoyment, and now the whole thing is trash and I think we all agree this never happened.
I’m not writing this post to call anyone out for that. All our reactions are valid. It just feels like the angry voices drown out the other voices, and it’s made me uncomfortable, and that is ALSO a valid reaction to have, so I just want to put my voice out there, too.
The weird thing about me and The Umbrella Academy is that this is the first fandom where I’ve ever been more invested in fanworks of it than in the original show (and in the comics, not at all. Though I still want to see Viktor and Diego start a punk band). So I think that’s why I’m not Ragey. I wouldn’t say I COMPLETELY didn’t care what happened in the show, but I know that there’s a thousand other AUs of it out there ALREADY. So I honestly went into it almost as if reading a fic of it. In fics there are inevitably interpretations I don’t agree with, ships I don’t care for, things I would have done differently, but the writer loves the same characters as me so let’s see where they go.
And then I leave a comment about all the positives. “Oh, I love what you’ve done with Viktor!” (I won’t MENTION that I think you should have let him get back into music and spend a LOT more time with Five, because it’s not my story, and hey, you have done some LOVELY, thoughtful things with one of the characters that is dearest to me so let me tell you that in this comment!) “I’m REALLY enjoying your Allison-and-Klaus partnership, we don’t see enough of that but it’s so obvious in retrospect that they should be friends. They probably bonded over fashion as children when Viktor was like ‘Sorry Allison you know I REALLY DO want to be friends with you but I JUST DON’T GET IT’.” (I am thinking about how you never really resolved the huge emotional thread between Allison and Viktor in your last chapter, but that’s not what we’re talking about here). “This is admittedly not my ship, but you’ve successfully captured my own beliefs about HOW this character would behave in this situation” (shouting out to @stephsageek for that one, who did it, and did it well, before canon even thought to attempt to. ;) ) I could write lots more in my theoretical Comment on “Season Four of the Umbrella Academy” on AO3, but I don’t want to be too spoilery in this post and I’m just being metaphorical.
Honestly, I’m more upset now after a day of discourse than I was about the ending, and I think it’s because I’m afraid of people rage-abandoning the fandom. Because Legion, the show that started me on Seriously Writing Fanfic, was a mess after season 1. I personally didn’t enjoy MOST of season 2, but I DID enjoy season 3 even though so much of it made no sense, and I can rant about it (Legion did a variation on the same terrible ending as TUA, actually! I have to say that the emotional beats were handled better, but the plot itself was way way stupider). But I didn’t start writing fic until after the dreaded (but not without redeeming qualities) season 2, when quite a lot of people had given up on the show. I’ve written fix-its, mostly ones that embellish on the canon of the later seasons, fixing it without actually throwing it away. I’ve been playing in the whole sandbox for six years now, and “Magic Man of Oz” uses like every grain of sand in it, and it’s my favorite fic I’ve ever written, and I am genuinely sad about all the people who rage-quit that show so will never read it. I am mostly sad that the person who got me on AO3 to begin with abandoned the Legion fandom the moment they finished their epic How Season Two Should Have Ended fic (or before— pretty sure the last few chapters were written with gritted teeth determination to just be Done with the whole thing) and so THEY never read “Magic Man of Oz.” And they were my biggest cheerleader when I started posting fanfic! Honestly, is this whole paragraph just me freaking out about TUA fandom just because not enough people read a fic of mine from a different fandom that was fairly cult to begin with? It might be. Sorry. I apparently have issues?
(That first sentence is really the thesis statement of this post now. The moment I wrote it, I reread it and said, "Oh. THAT'S what's happening with me, isn't it?" My 11th grade research writing teacher is yelling at me in my head to move the dang thesis statement to earlier in this essay, but too bad, this is Tumblr).
I can’t help comparing Legion and TUA, not least because the latter only got bumped up my watch list by someone describing it as “Legion-Lite”— and it really is, in so many ways! But they’re also my top two most-written-for fandoms, and I’ve been toying with a crossover or two— which I feel even more compelled to write now, because it’s post-canon for both shows (even though both shows claim there IS no post-canon— I have found the way!) And it honestly helped ME emotionally to accept the end of TUA when I could immediately say, “OH, well actually, that flows right INTO how I was already going to start working-title A Legion of Umbrellas!” I originally started this paragraph in parenthesis because it seemed like an aside, but it’s really not, because all I’m saying is fanfic flows eternal! and so forth.
So, hi, out there. Just letting out my feelings and hoping someone out there feels the same way (maybe not about Legion— I keep TRYING, but can’t find any takers), and I may still write a more detailed and spoilery reaction post to the show ITSELF, but I had to get this off my chest first.

FF14: Dramatis Personae and Timeline
Final Fantasy Wrtite 2024: Dramatis Personae and Timeline
I figured it would be a good idea to provide a dramatis personae and timeline for my writing since I don’t post really outside of FF14 Write. I am going to change that over time I think, but anyways, this should help for now!
So I work on a time bubble of 11 years from the start of ARR to the end of EW, all ages in the encyclopedias I view as of the beginning of ARR so I calculate NPC ages from there. This means that the twins in this timeline are in their mid twenties, I only mention that as I do ship Alisae and wanted to make clear how my timeline works.
Melisande Atteron [Latia Ursis]: My original WoL, born in Garlemald as a Hyur woman she eventually rose to the rank of ‘Sas’ in the XIV legion under Gaius van Baelsar with whom she had a relationship. She was eventually used as a spy during the dying days of the original invasion to try and get further information to the Eorzean Alliance about the fall of Dalamud which Gaius did not approve. She was present on the ground at Cartenau when Bahamut emerged and was caught up in the sending of the original Warriors of Light five years into the future. Upon arrival she didn’t remember anything of her former life and ended up in Gridania. She would remain unaware of her previous times in Garlemald until the events of the Burn where Gaius would use her actual name, unaware she didn’t have her memories, it would be a shock to the system from which she recovered, able to merge both lives into one inside her head. As of the end of Endwalker she is married to Y’shtola Rhul.
Melisande is a Hyur woman of small height and an athletic build, she has long bluish white hair that on occasion appears to have the shadows of feathers in it, results of the light poisoning from the first. Her skin is pale and she has striking silver eyes and dark red lips. She was known as “The Winer Witch” during her time in the Garlean military as her hair was viewed as a bad omen amongst the rest of the legion, and a terror tactic with their enemies. She is trained as a dragoon as well as a dancer.
Altani Mol [Xaela]: The first of Melisande’s two adopted daughters, she left the step at twelve thinking she knew better than the rest of her family in the Mol tribe. She got herself kidnapped and taken to Eorzea where she served as a domestic servant in Ul’dah for the better part of a year before she was able to escape and spent her next while as a street kid, thieving and panhandling to survive, she also took in a young Miqo’te girl K’yla Mitran as a little sister. Eventually she made the mistake of trying to pick the pocket of Melisande and ended up in jail for her actions, Melisande decided to meet with the girl and was taken with her ferocity and independence, but also saw a young girl desperate for love and affection. Melisande bailed her out and over a number of long conversations the two bonded, and Melisande took her on as an adopted daughter. She began to call Melisande mom almost instantly, but made it clear she wouldn’t leave without her sister, which is what led Melisande to also take in K’yla [see below] Altani trained ever since the middle of HW as a paladin, wanting to protect those around her from the evils of the world, which she saw firsthand at the bloody banquet, she served in the wards of Ishgard after the final battle with Nidhogg and ended up taking up the vow of the healer though she still serves Halone. She was present during the battle with Hydaelyn and Ultima Thule, having had the Echo and blessing of light awake in her sometime during ShB. As of the end of EW she is in a long term committed relationship with Allie Baelsar whom she met at the end of Sorrow of Werlyt. Currently she splits her time between Werlyt and wherever she and her sister along with their partners are needed.
Altani is a tiny Xaela woman with long white hair not unlike her mother with piercing blue eyes and a yellow umbral ring. She has a mostly athletic build almost that of a gymnast. She fights with sword and shield as do most paladins but has a pair of javelins strapped to the inside of her shield a nod to her training in Ishgard, she is also versed in short spear.
K’yla Mitran: [Miqo’te Seeker of the Sun] Very little is known of K’yla before Altani found her wandering the road outside of Ul’dah, knowing the trouble a young girl would end up in she took her to her hideout and began taking care of her. She was taken as the second adopted daughter of Melisande when Altani refused to leave her, though Melisande would never have allowed that to happen after meeting the young girl. Through much of ARR and HW she was basically mute speaking only very rarely and even then with few words. It was her time with Edmont late in the nights that brought her out of her shell when he would sing lullabies to her when Melisande was away. She fell in love with those stories and by the end of HW had begun to learn to since and play the violin/fiddle, a fine piece of craftsmanship given to her by Y’shtola around her fourteenth winter. Since then she has become known as one of the finest bards in all of Eorzea, her stories and songs are both legendary and infamous, she is willing to both sing your praises and your faults should you upset her. She like her sister was present at the battle with Hydaelyn along with her sister. As of the end of EW she is in a relationship with Alisae having stumbled into it during the events of the expansion, much to Fourchenault’s chagrin.
K’yla is a shortish curvy Seeker of the Sun with long chestnut brown hair with pink highlights as a personal affection, her eyes are the color of emeralds and those who have felt her glare never really forget it. She is trained as a bard, dancer, and a viper, the latter being taken up when her sister suggested she learn melee combat during EW. K’yla can most often be found wielding her two triskelion glaives as a dancer, able to do considerable damage at range. Her viper blades are unique as they were a gift from Gaius whom she has spent considerable time with in Werlyt since she is often there with her sister and Allie working to help rebuilt the nation. The blades are made out of a reforged Heirsbane imbued with magic from Alisae the nine marks glow with a blue faerie fire when the blade is used.

Hello again, it’s me on my rants again, I figured that reblogging is easier than editing my post so if this gets annoying I’m sorry, I’ll switch back to the original plan of editing if you want me to. Also this is a long one, so i hope you don’t mind reading.
But moving on, more things that I felt canon did not do well enough:
Why did Hera have to plant fake memories into piper and Leo? Jason is hero complex enough with his stupid golden boy personality hammered into him by expectations (and his inability to not care for people he barely knows (I.e. Nico for a direct example)) that he would’ve tried to save them from Dylan and the venti even without fake knowing them? Coach hedge would’ve sensed he’s a demigod anyways (even if he felt a little bit off) and he still would’ve of been brought to camp (because how is a demigod that powerful smelling and that old surviving outside of camp? - hedge probably)
Along the same lines I get that Percy remembering annabeth was for the shippers but like why? Within the world Hera would’ve had no reason to keep that memory with Percy? It also just showed how much Rick preferred Percy over Jason (yes it showed in his writing that Jason wasn’t a character he either wrote well or even liked to write, unlike Percy who he made so overpowered even though he hasn’t been a demigod long and he was strong just because he was a big three child and like just main character syndrome idk does that make sense?)
Also how did the two of them start remembering? I haven’t read the books in a while but I just think the way their amnesia being cured suddenly was weird.
I personally think Jason should’ve canonically spent more time in the Wolf house and should have had more wolf like battle and social behavior as demigods are only sent to camp from the wolf house after they are deemed ready, I refuse to believe that after spending just one year at the wolf house Lupa would deem Jason ready to go to camp at 3 YEARS OLD ???? He would’ve been trained more (however brutally, or if we want less angst also cared for but canonically not true as we are told it’s kill or be killed there kinda). So Jason should’ve had like at least 3 years at the wolf house (until he was 5) and then sent to camp where he immediately started legion training because wow a son of Jupiter! Need to be trained to help on quests.
Also along the same lines of needing more camp Jupiter backstory, we need the quests the Romans went on, they can’t be the same as Greek ones, they would probably follow Roman myths, and idk how does camp Jupiter function as a demigod camp Rick? Huh mr. Author who gave us lovable characters but no background for them?
Reyna. How did she get to camp, leaving Circe’s island (edit: rereading it was mentioned she and Hylla were captured by pirates and set on land after Hylla like basically was gonna take over Blackbeard’s ship), how did she get praetorship? How did she get scipio? And her dogs? And like a lot of other details about her?
The power difference between Greek and Roman demigods. What? Like Hazel and Nico have a big power difference despite having the same dad (yes different domains and everything but still) like Hazel just doesn’t give overpowered big three kid the same way Percy and Nico do. Jason doesn’t give overpowered big three kid either. Hazel and Jason seem weak in comparison to Percy and Nico despite their godly parentage being equally strong. Idk this just bothered me, if you’re gonna make a certain type of character powerful, keep it consistent. Like big three kids were oh so rare and oh so powerful but oop that doesn’t apply to the romans.
Also the differences between roman and Greek fighting styles were highlighted but it was never mentioned how the seven solved these differences in strategy when fighting? Like they had to have had this conversation (or argument idk) about fighting and how they believed it worked.
I also disliked how left behind roman demigods were, greek demigods at least saw their parents like at some point, romans just don’t. They get no attention from the gods and just in general seem detached from the gods (is this why they’re weaker? Idk it just seemed weird) like Rome was just as big and important as Greece in terms of shaping the myths surrounding the gods, why are they not interacted with at all?
Caleo. That’s it, I just have an issue with it. Like I get why calypso needed to be mentioned again. But why. Why does this relationship have to happen? Why does Leo need to be in a relationship? There was literally such a good set up for Leo to be somewhere on the AroAce spectrum (as he didnt feel connected to other humans as much as he saw others were and felt pressured to do so and act like that as well to an extent), and the even if leo wasn’t the relationship is just kinda creepy. If Leo had to be in a relationship with someone for the sake of plot and omg all of the seven have to be dating or something so Leo’s not a seventh wheel (he isn’t by the way, that’s just nemesis and we could’ve had a whole plot of Hazel and Leo ignoring what nemesis said) don’t put him with a goddess older than even his dad and the olympians ok? Like what?
Ok that’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll be back (maybe) with more whenever these brain rots come up. Have a nice day!
This might be a long list:
What were the matters in the books that were never addressed or poorly addressed?

Batshit AU Pt #2: The Grandkids
So I mentioned in the last post Batshit AU Pt. #1 that I cover Dick and Jason's kids but since I've been thinking (read: fantasizing) about the future of the Batfam I figured I'd just do a post with ALL the grandkids!
Just a heads up: this is a LONG post.
First we shall start with the Grayson's:
Mar'i and Jake (Jake is not my original name I've seen it pop up in other media- dunno if it's canon in any timeline but I'm going with it).
Mar'i Grayson: Mar'i is the biologically daughter of Dick Grayson and Koriand'r of Tamaran (aka Starfire). Kori is unknowingly pregnant after one last one-night-stand with Dick before going back to her home planet to take over as queen. Unfortunately, because of Kori's sister Komand'r (aka Blackfire) causing civil unrest to try and usurp the thorn from her, Tamaran becomes unsafe for Mar'i as she is Kori's only heir.
-Kor'i goes back to Earth with an infant Mar'i and begrudgingly hands her over to Dick so she can live with him and be safe from Blackfire.
-Kori of course visits while she can but has a lot of responsibilities on Tamaran. When Mar'i is older she is able to go back to Tamaran to visit her mother.
-A few years later when Dick and Barbra get married, Barbra officially adopts Mar'i. Seeing both Kor'i and Barbra as her mothers Mar'i decides so call Kori "Mama" and Barbra "Mom/Mommy".
Jake Grayson: don't have much of an exciting backstory for him. He was basically just an orphaned infant Dick and Barbra decided to adopt after his bio-parents had been murdered.
Now he have the Todd family:
Because I am a heartless monster I decided that since Roy died in the comics without any sign of Lian and Jason was pretty fucked up about it, I would have Jason adopt Lian because Roy wasn't round to take care of her. So this is basically what happened:
Lain Harper-Todd: 1 year or so after Roy's death, Jason is visited by Jade Nguyen (aka Cheshire) who is carrying an infant Lian. Jade explains that she hadn't realised she was pregnant with Roy's child until after he was already dead and since she is not ready to give up her life as an assassin she states that Lian is better off without her. She then asks Jason if he would be willing to take Lian in as Roy's former partner (read into that how you will).
-Jason agrees, and decides to hyphenate her last name Harper-Todd so that she will always have a piece of Roy with her even if he can't be there for her in person.
it's not that I don't think JayRoy is cute! It's just that I honestly I don't really picture Jason dating anyone in my mind and the thought of him being a single dad is just precious. I'm also allergic to OC's (of my own making) so I usually try to keep to characters that are at least canon in some timeline and Lian was the first to come to mind.
Also I'm a angst-hungry monster so...
Drake-Wayne/Dowd/McGinnis household:
Lol, this family has too many names.
I already went over Terry and Matthew McGinnis' backstory in Batshit AU Pt. #1 but if you are too lazy/ don't feel like reading it I'll try to make sure to cover the important details.
Terry & Matthew McGinnis: A few years down the road, Tim is the current Batman and married to Bernard Dowd (my new fave batship). One night on patrol he finds the boys hunkered down behind an garbage container and approaches them.
-Terry is extremely protective of his younger brother Matt and becomes immediately aggressive, swinging a baseball around and threatening Tim to leave them alone.
-Tim finds it admirable/endearing that Terry is willing to face Batman alone in order to protect his brother and tells him so. He then asks them where there parents and and Matt (trusting Batman) tells Tim that they were killed by the 'Bad Men' who are now looking for he and Tarry.
-Tim is worried for the boys safety and offers to take them to the Police, but Tarry only says that they already tried that and that there are spies in the GCPD who ratted them out to the 'Bad Men'.
-Tim figures out that the boys are in more danger then he first realized and takes them home with him in order to protect them.
-Tim eventually finds out about Project Batman Beyond, an experiment orchestrated by A.R.G.U.S. in order to create the perfect child to usurp the Cowl and give A.R.G.U.S and 'in' with the Justice League and the super-community as a whole. A part of this project is making sure the children are biologically Bruce Wayne's in order for them to also gain influence over Wayne Enterprises.
-Tim realizes that there is no real safe place that he can send the boys and after discussing it with his husband, Bernard, the two decide to adopt the boys.
I think this adoption story is one of my favourites. Especially because I find the idea of Bernard not at all being surprised by his husband brining home black-haired blue-eyes orphans, hilarious.
Bernard: I figured since you are now Batman it was only a matter of time.
Tim: >:(
Wayne-Kent situation:
DamiJon is one of my absolute favourite ships in existence. But since both boys are so young in canon my version of their future relationship truly is creature of my own design, I will explain them a little and then the kids. I'll be quick about it. Promise. (There is also a 2 part series I'm working on that goes into my version of events called "Jon and Damian" if anyone is interested. Jon's chapter is done but Damian's is still in the works).
Jon: he is the one that I really have to explain. I call my version of him "Dark-ish Jon" or 'dark ish jon' for the tags. For those of you who already know the deal (or don't really care) y'all can skip to the *** for the kids.
-basically Jon was kidnapped by Jon-El (Clark's Kryptonian Bio-dad) in order for Jor-El to mold Jon into the perfect weapon for his plan to conquer the universe. They have a machine that Jumps through various timelines so no one can find them, and Jon-El trains/tortures Jon for 2 years.
-Jon eventually discovers new powers that allow him to kill Jor-El and escape but he ends up spending the next several years trying to find his original timeline.
-He eventually meets the Legion of Superheroes that help him get home, but once he arrives home he realizes that for him it has been 7 years since he was kidnaped, but only 2 weeks for his family/friends.
-Because of this he and his family find it hard to adjust to the new situation and Jon ultimately decides to return to the Legion but visit occasionally.
Damian: Honestly I don't think I really have to explain much about Damian for y'all to get the kids but I do want you to know:
He has long hair
He has peirced ears
Possibly tattoos?
He's has more of a slim figure than Bruce's bulky one
He is a fashion icon and kinda has 'bitchy white girl' energy
Bacically he very pretty and looks a LOT like Thalia
And yeah. The two eventually reconcile after Jon is done moping in another timeline and they decide to retire from crime fighting and build a cottage/farm and live in peace.
***
Athanasia: So she is actually Bruce's bio-kid from the Injustice timeline. And for my AU she is still Bruce's biologically and she does recognize him as her father, but because she and Damian are 13/14 years apart and she knows him better she lives and defers to him as her caretaker. I shall explain:
-Athanasia was created by Thalia in a fit of madness after Damian's death. Because of what happened to Damian, and because Athanasia turned out to be a girl (and therefor Ra's would have no use for her), Thalia keeps the little girl locked away and a secret so that no one can harm her.
-Years pass and Athanasia has never seen the outside would. Eventually something happens (will depends on the Fic -because I will get around to writing this shit eventually) and Athanasia is given to Damian (the only other person Thalia ever told her about.)
-At this point Bruce is getting older and most of his current children already have their own kids, so both he and Damian agree that because Athanasia is mostly attached to Damian and doesn't really know who Bruce is outside of being her father, that she will live with he and Jon.
-Athanasia get's older and eventually meets another girl at her school named Carrie Kelley. The girls form a quick bond, Carrie's louder personality complementing Athanasia's more quiet one.
Carrie Kelley: being best friends with Athanasia leads to Carrie spending a lot of time over at her house. This allows Jon and Damian to get to know the girl and become quite fond of her.
-one night after a sleepover at Jon and Damian's house with some of their other friends, Carrie's father comes to the house drunk and carrying a shot gun. He accuses Jon and Damian of being pedophiles because of their sexual orientations and calls them a variety of homophobic slurs.
-It's his attempts at shooting Jon that leads to Carrie calling 911 and having her own father arrested.
-Because her mother had already left and Carrie only had her dad to take care of her, Jon and Damian offer her a place in their home and eventually adopt her along with Athanasia when the girls are teenagers.
So, yeah! That's it for now. I am absolutely obsesses with this AU. I just love the idea of Bruce deciding to take in Dick leading to him having an army of children and grandchildren so large that all family gatherings have to happen at the Manor because nowhere else is big enough.

top 5 fanworks of 2021
rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (ish) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2021. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
tagged by @ad1thi. thank you!
ranked by my personal favorites
1. Pattern Recognition and Remembrance - parkner // 7.3k // autistic Harley, fake dating au, getting together // T
When Peter doesn't want to deal with his ex-boyfriend, he recruits Harley to stand in as his boyfriend despite any misgiving they might have about the plan. Neither of them anticipated a dinner date and chances that are too slim to even be considered a possibility, or the potential to unveil the truth
so back around the time I wrote this, I was doing some research on autism for a project and realizing. huh. that sounds familiar. however, a lot of autistic representation felt like it was more built for children, and as an adult, I wanted to write about it from more of that perspective. I was and still am super proud of this, and I would honestly say this is easily in my favorite things i've written ever
2. Commanding Affection - irondad and winteriron, background samsteve // 30k // post tws, what if the avengers had brain cells and ca:cw never happened au, slow burn, getting together // M
After the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes is on the run. Tony Stark makes a choice to bring him home, and a promise to the future. Steve Rogers struggles with ever increasing change, but maybe a piece of his past will help.
this was six months of my life and and easily some of my best work. I technically started this in 2020 but did a lot of it in 2021, so it counts, but I love this fic. for all it's issues, this ended up being so much fun to work with. I literally had to work backwards and fix all of my plotholes on the fly. do you know how hard it is to make up a new SHIELD? anyways yeah I was crazy proud when I finished this
3. Not Every (No Good, Rotten, Very Bad) Day - parkner, samsteve // 2.5k // what if Tony hadn't found Peter as spiderman, civilian mechanic Harley, established relationships, the author's personal frustration of people not thinking Sam is Captain America // G
Harley was having a no good, rotten, very bad day.
“If one more person tells me I look like Captain America, I’m going to lose my shit.”
this was born out of frustration and an undying love for Sam Wilson. I don't even think tfatws had come out yet, but I needed to write this. this one was just fun tbh, I didn't have any other reason to write it
4. Missing Details - samrhodeytony // 1.8k // mentions of canon character death, misunderstandings, implied stevebucky and stevenatasha // T
Steve decides that it's high time for Sam to officially meet the rest of the Avengers before he joins the team, so he asks him to attend a party where they will all be in attendance. He had no idea that this wouldn't be Sam's first time meeting some of them.
I had this idea at like 3am, and couldn't rest until I wrote the whole fic. this ship is one of my favorites, and I wish I could write it more, but I haven't had much opportunity to sincee
5. An Irreversible Choice - rhodeytony // 1.1k // post civil war, song fic, friends to lovers, getting together // G
Tony's therapist tells him to find a hobby. One that isn't building enough Iron Man suits to project a legion of people. Instead, he picks up something he hasn't touched since he was a child.
this was a prompt that I was able to work into one of my favorite songs, which was exciting. every time i reread this I yell a little bit, seriously this was so much fun and so fucking cute that I died

Hey so, sorry you're getting so much negativity regarding the sylvaina post cause I get the impression it was asked in good faith. I do see Anduin mentioned as a potential political marriage candidate in some fics but well, for one you specifically mention sylvaina political marriage AUs so that's always the ship that's gonna end up happening (no idea if Sylvanduin political marriage AUs exist).
But also, Sylvanas is commonly headcanoned as a lesbian, not to mention that she is canonically a sexual assault survivor - The idea of her having to marry a man for political reasons, especially with the explicit purpose of having children could easily be uncomfortable for a lot of people - which I think is why you're getting such a strong response.
Eh, it's alright. I anticipated this reaction yesterday as I typed that post out before RL work called, so it was to be expected. I don't blame the responses made nor hold any ill will toward them, because they made their reasonings clear. Headcanons are headcanons and they don't always have to make sense - but that's what headcanons are, they make sense to that person.
But for me, I like the fiction I read to make sense, and my headcanons and another person's headcanons are inevitably going to conflict. For me to ship something requires a connection to resonate with me, so if I don't feel that chances are good I'm not going to ship a pairing; it's more about that than, say, 'oh I hate this ship' (which I don't, and if it doesn't jive with me I just move on). Hence why I had 'My Personal Opinion' in the title because it reflects how I see things, case in point being some of the trends I've noticed in Sylvaina political marriage AUs (it's also why I didn't list this under my 'meta' tag, because Jaina and Sylvanas won't get an actual canon interaction until 9.2; that's reserved for lore observations as a whole).
So you're right when you say the post specifically addresses Sylvaina, because at the end of the day if a story has that pairing it's going to be the endgame. And that's fair. The main purpose of the post was trying to postulate how a political marriage storyline would be addressed in WoW canon, and the closest thing we have to that so far - kind of - is Genn trying in vain to convince Anduin to settle on somebody and have a child. But that's within the Alliance proper, and currently the peace is tenuous between both factions, so realistically I don't see an Alliance-Horde marital union ever happening. A succession crisis plot is more likely given Anduin's current state.
I think a political marriage in-game would be interesting, however, but IMO it would have to tackle a lot of problems that are present in AU fics a'la 'how would you get Sylvanas and Jaina/Anduin to bond and have kids during the Legion/BfA/SL era where she may or may not do these things that brand her Enemy Number One'. This is where the 'it's magic, I don't have to explain shit' meme and the Canon Divergence would come into play (as I actually didn't consider magical pregnancy as I was writing that post until I saw one of the replies mention it, so that's Critical Research Failure on my part), so the better question would be 'will these stories be for me?', which I'm willing to give another shot at. And if turns out they're not, then that's alright, it's something I'm willing to accept because they can be enjoyed by others.
People can write what they want to write what they want to see as I will write what I want to see; opinions are opinions, after all. It's why I hoped my post didn't come across as saying 'you should do it this way, not that way'; it was one of my fears as I wrote the post, and if it did then I do apologize. Although my opinion that a political marriage AU between Anduin and Sylvanas being more effective still stands, but I can make exceptions if I find a particularly well-written Sylvaina fic that approaches most of what I'm looking for in a political marriage AU that doesn't completely shaft Anduin's subplot out of the picture.
(In regards to Sylvanas being a SA survivor: was that ever canonically confirmed? I've heard of this, but I've never been able to find a source that states it's intended that way. However, it's been years since I've last read Rise of the Lich King, and at that time I never got the impression it was a metaphor for sexual assault. But if it's metaphorical as in 'Sylvanas dies and is raised against her will because she was a thorn in Arthas's side' then yeah, I can kind of see how people look at it that way and might not like the idea of pairing her with, say, Nathanos or Anduin. I personally headcanon her as bisexual in my Heroes of the Storm parody fic, so even if I don't view her undeath origin in that light nor pair her up with anyone in particular in my WoW-centric fics I do at least understand where the discomfort comes from.)

So first impressions for ME3:
graphics and models got a serious downgrade from ME2. Which is really baffling. You’d think they would have gotten better, not worse. With doing a remaster they had the perfect opportunity to have at least tried to be consistent between the 3 games. Instead it’s cartoony as hell and downgraded how everything looks and feels. One of the main reasons I didn’t play the trilogy before the remaster was because I had become a graphics snob since Dragon Age Inquisition. Yeah, the remastered ME3 is an upgrade from the original, but it’s still pretty bad imo.
At the start all I wanted to do was punch Kaiden in the face. And then he went and got his brains smashed in and that impulse lessened... a little bit.
James is an interesting character. I let him get away with calling me Lola.
After struggling to make credit in ME2 and finally at the end having a decent amount, I hate that I come into ME3 with practically nothing. And again having no easy way of making the credit, such as selling gear that I don’t/won’t use.
I don’t like having to yet again learn a new form of scanning. And this one is ridiculous. I’m not even scanning planets. I’m supposed to scan randomly among clusters hoping to find something? No indicators if I’m even near something, like playing a game or hot and cold? Just click away and try not to summon Reapers to the cluster I’m in... nice...
I dislike the fact that I don’t know what happened to my previous crew. Y’know, like Miranda and Jacob who were with Cerberus. Or Jack who was a criminal. Or Legion who was a Geth. Garrus (MY FRICKIN’ LOVE INTEREST, THANK YOU). And so on. Like I said in a previous post, I feel like we missed a lot between ME2 and ME3 (And only 6months has pass supposedly). (Thanks to anon who at least cleared up why Admiral Anderson was no longer on the Council where I put him) And it would be nice if we were told at some point (here’s to hoping, since I’m sure we’re not getting back all our old companions, would be nice to know what happened to them).
Also, I really hate that Trinity keeps on getting called out on the deaths of the original Council. Not that they didn’t die, but that she let them die for human interests. Which wasn’t the case. She just prioritized Sovereign’s death over saving 3 lives. From Trinity’s stand point is was more important (I know from a players perspective that saving their ship they came back around and could kick some ass, but Shepard has no way of knowing that). It’s something that has rankled me now since the start of ME2.
Also rankling, Reapers are appearing all over the galaxy and the Council is still a useless pile of crap.
That’s it so far. I just arrived on the Turian home world (or their moon? I can’t remember, I’m starting to get tired lol). I’m hoping that I’ll run into Garrus here, which may be what happens since Liara mentioned we had a friend there; and who else would be on the Turian home world (moon?)?

Have you got any Iron Tusks lore lying around, or are they a completed project? I've been scrolling through the tag snapping up those gorgeous in-universe fluff snippets, and it's made me really curious about their backstory.
Ok so first of all thanks for saying a nice thing about my writing, which I have much less confidence in than I do in my painting. I’m super happy it grabbed your interest!
As for the Great Iron Tusks Fluff Bible… Well, for most of this evening I thought it’d been lost when I upgraded to my new(er) PC. But apparently I never delete anything ever and having done a bit of digging, well: here’s just about the entire history of the chapter, up to end of the 41st millenium & the creation of the Great Rift. Delve beneath the cut if you dare.
Caveats: I read the background for the Warhammer 40,000 universe back in, like, 1996? ‘97? I haven’t paid too much attention since. I much prefer to just make shit up. I dip in here & there but you may find bits in here that seem to contradict actual canon - roll with it, I guess? It’s a big universe governed by an unreliable megabureaucracy; there’s room for more than one version of the truth.

ADT.ASTARTES.DES.IRON.TUSKS
>IRON TUSKS: Adeptus Astartes chapter. Founded 738.M41 using Ultramarines gene-seed on Khaskal IV, Ultima Segmentum. Supervising officer Capt. Jun Harkenas (ex-Silver Skulls), subordinate officers including Capt. Astor Valk (ex-Silver Skulls), Capt. Haral Gor (ex-Carcharodon Astra), Reclusiarch Bron Ovidor (ex-Doom Eagles), Sgt. Torias Telion (Ultramarines, secondment), assisted by advisory council led by Barad Valur Arendt & other tribal elders.
On advice of Capt. Gor and the elders of the laghun, attending hiero-scrivenor Gorganaeus grants permission to Captain Harkenas to alter original ministorum designation BLACK PALADINS to IRON TUSKS in recognition of indigenous ursid life-forms known locally as Roortagha. Harkenas also orders chapter livery changed to deep crimson to fit with native blood rituals and warrior traditions. The Adeptus Terra’s initial audit detects minor mutations of the oolitic kidney, Betcher’s gland & the mucranoid gland, producing a moderately toxic & caustic airborne suspension when the marines’ sweat evaporates. The mutation falls well within acceptable levels of deviation and the founding is consecrated. The chapter is officially armed on St. Burden’s Day, 744.M41, fighting strength 350 scouts, 250 marines, plus command staff and various supporting elements including 3 strike cruisers. Captain Harkenas is named First Marshall, Captain Valk is named 2nd Company Marshall ; Master of the Armoury, Captain Gor is named 3rd Company Marshall ; Master of Recruits ; Bron Ovidor becomes High Chaplain. Sgt. Telion returns to Macragge.
745.M41: Hive Fleet Behemoth descends upon Ultima Segmentum. The Great Devourer carves a bloody path through the Imperium’s suprised and confused defenders leaving only lifeless rocks in its wake. Bio-ships appear at system terminus without warning after listening posts on Brennan’s World and Valentina are overrun by hostile xenoforms. Massively outnumbered, First Marshall Harkenas orders Khaskal IV evacuated and the chapter’s gene-seed secured aboard the strike cruiser Silverback. Harkenas and Ovidor lead half the chapter’s evocatii in a forlorn delaying action. Behemoth is eventually stopped at enormous cost, but Khaskal is stripped of all life weeks beforehand. The surviving brothers make a final return to salvage what equipment & armour they can, but leave the system within a week of arrival.
The Iron Tusks, now fleet-based, appear to drift between campaigns for several years, intervening in battles at Verrae, St. Nazaire, Xavierus and Sacristan. At Xavierus, Major-General Valdestin of the 120th Cadian Expeditionary records the Iron Tusks deploying “4 companies in good order, though unorthodox in equipment.” At Sacristan, Captain Serrus of the Star Phantoms notes the Iron Tusks battlefleet joining their own with 5 ships of the line, “three of which had clearly been reclaimed from unsanctioned sources.” Both commanders describe their allies scavenging war materiel from their enemies and after Sacristan, in which the combined Astartes forces drive off a raiding force of Red Corsairs traitors, the Iron Tusks (apparently now under the command of Haral Gor) pursue the traitors into the Maelstrom “with relish.”
The following decades paint a confusing picture: in 786.M41 they appear in the journal of the Rogue Trader Jelena diVerre as masters of Loghain’s Cross, a feudal world to the galactic south of Baal. Certainly, a number of imperial records from this time period make mention of the Iron Tusks fighting numerous battles against the orks raiding out of the Galatian Belt and against eldar pirates on Barre. But by the time Waaagh! Gormug makes a ruin of several Imperial worlds in 802, the Iron Tusks have apparently moved on. While the Blood Angels defend Loghain’s Cross, the Iron Tusks are recorded fighting “at chapter strength” against the bloody, Alpha Legion-led rebellion on Vittkenstein
“Though all who know the space marines know the essential diversity bred by their independent formations, I declare I never encountered a body of fighting men of such strange attitudes as these - leastways not as allies. The Irontusks (sic) seem to view their vocation almost as a great sport. They count kills upon their armour, they swear a great deal, they make indecipherable guestures toward the enemy (many of which I suspect are lewd in character!). Throne preserve us, at one juncture I visited a defensive position to inspect the conditions and found one of them sat in the cupola of his tank, smoking a lho-stick of very ill flavour. And yet who can complain of their devotion to the Emperor’s cause? After every raid they return with fallen comrades over their shoulders, bloodied banners of the enemy and grotesque smiles across scarred faces. One of their officers asked me if the regiment had encountered foes such as these before and when I answered him in the affirmative he declared that his men would be following us home.”- Colonel Ferdinand Maxwell-Gray, Mordian 18th.
Certainly the Iron Tusks do seem to have moved erratically toward the Mordian system for a time, but their route is difficult to ascertain. The war on Vittkenstein lasts another 4 years, but after that various naval records refer to the Iron Tusks retiring to a number of different homeworlds: Ironhold, Merite, Kyushin II, Jara-na-vere-ko, Elva XI and as many as 8 other planets are recorded as the chapter’s home base. Furthermore, having reached Mordian they seem to have moved on shortly after in the direction of the Cadian Gate and the Eye of Terror. More informatively, we can say with certainty the date at which they did so. Having claimed the death world of Morsava sometime before 984.M41, they subsequently sell the planet in 999.M41 to the governor-militant of Mordian for the perfunctory sum of 1 Imperial Credit - three days after the onslaught of the 13th Black Crusade. At this time Battlefleet Obscurus naval records indicate a fleet of 7 strike cruisers, one battle barge (designated Tough Love) and numerous escorts, bulk haulers and sundry other ships leaving the Mordian subsector and bearing galactic south-west.
++RECORD ENDS++
++THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A CLOSED MIND IS WELL-DEFENDED
It would appear that the Iron Tusks have adopted a modus operandi by which they occupy any world which they are able to take from enemy forces, staying long enough to recover losses in men and materiel, before abandoning it in the event that better ‘sport’ presents itself elsewhere. It is a pattern which has seen battle companies attach themselves frequently to Imperial army groups unsolicited, apparently to involve themselves in more violence. They seem to act without any thought to wider Imperial strategy, or to collateral damage. Can their wilful disregard for authority be tolerated? More gravely, is their pursuit of violence for violence’s sake not a well-worn trail on the path to damnation? My Lord, I must recommend an immediate Inquisitorial audit be carried out on these rogues - lest rogues be left to turn altogether renegade.
I remain your humble and obedient servant,
9.
There you have it. The rest of it gets written as & when models & projects inspire me to get typing. You’ve seen glimpses of the Tusks post-rift activities - stranded on the wrong side of the sky-scar, scavenging the debris of fallen worlds, occasionally finding gold dust on shattered hulks that float out of the few relatively stable shipping routes across the Cicatrix Maledictum, and sometimes adopting new friends of mysterious origin from the beleaguered worlds of the Imperium Nihilus. There will probably be more in the future! No project is ever really finished until you run out of ideas.

My FanFic compilation
I figured I have written quite a lot over the years and especially this year, that putting together something like this, that has everything I’ve written so far in one place all organized would be a good idea! So please! Enjoy!
There’s quite a lot so they’ll all be listed under the read more, They’re all organized by series (fairy tail, swtor, mass effect, dragon age, greedfall, anthem, and smut fics) as well as by pair with a short description, starting with the first fic I wrote (fairy tail) and the latest (fictober 2020 prompts)  :D
Fairy Tail: (Leading off with this because it’s my first ever fic) -Shall We Dance, Pair: Laxus/Lucy: 38 chapters, Finished https://archiveofourown.org/works/4351550/chapters/9870611
Swtor: Main fic: -Breaking the Bad News (aka BTBN), multi-pair, main focus is shan trio: currently 70 chapters, Ongoing. https://archiveofourown.org/works/9340892/chapters/21164699
Side Fics: Kara Hawke’s Backstory(s):
Pre-Class story: -A Smuggler’s Tyr, no pairing, intro to Kara’s first crew: Currently 1 chapter, Complete (Might add more eventually)

Post Class Story: -Hawke Legacy: While Kara Sleeps, mentioned Theron/Kara, focus’s on Koro delivering the news of Marr’s ship being attacked to Theron. 1 chapter, Complete -Downtime, Theron/Kara, Post arrival on Odessen but prior to chapter 9 on kotfe, 1 chapter, complete -Desert Reunion, Theron/Kara, Introducing Kara’s dad and bringing him into the Alliance, 3 chapters, complete -A Moment, Theron/Kara, but starting to poke at the idea of Arcann being involved, 1 chapter, complete
Prompts: -Fictober 2018, day 1: Can you feel this?, Kara/Arcann/Theron, post-umbara/pre-copero so theron’s only mentioned -Fictober 2018, day 3: How can I trust you?, Kara/Arcann/Theron, post-Nathema, and a bit on the trio +kids, dealing with Theron’s return -Fictober 2018, day 5: Take what you need, mentioned Kara/Caleb (her first husband from her original crew), takes place before the class stories, short story about a job she had done -Fictober 2018, day 6: I’ve heard enough, this ends now. Kara/Arcann (sometime pre-nathema so sorry Theron’s not really in this one), bit of covering a reoccuring nightmare Kara had for a few months -Fictober 2018, day 7: No Worries, we still have time, Kara/Arcann/Theron (Arcann’s not present tho, just mentioned), little bit of the pair of workaholics +kids taking a break -Fictober 2018, day 12/13: Who could do this/Try harder next time, Kara/Arcann/Theron & Koren/Trey (Will have this in both pairs), sometime post-nathema probably, little adventure with Kara involving having to save her sons -Prompt: I Care about You, Theron/Kara, little bit of a rebuild of their kotfe reuinion -Prompt: Come Cuddle, Kara/Arcann/Theron, Short fluff story of one of their movie nights with some bad jokes -Promptless idea: Arcann Singing, Kara/Arcann/Theron, I’ve always had this idea that Arcann can sing at least as well as Senya does, so here’s a bit of him singing to kara’s boys, and also kara. -Fictober 2019, day 2: Just Follow me, I know the area, Kara/Arcann mainly, post onslaught so Theron’s involved but just not featured in this prompt. Little bit of a romantic night out. -Fictober 2019, day 3: Now? Now you listen to me?, Kara/Arcann/Theron, follow-up to the fictober 2018 day 6 prompt, and resolution to the chronic nightmares Kara was having -Fictober 2020, day 7: Yes I did, what about it?, Kara/Arcann/Theron, post-nathema, small bit of theron and kara heart to heart about a choice she made (involving Valss because I’m still bitter we didn’t get a save option for him) and both prosthetic users in the trio are sore (maybe there’s a storm moving in) -Fictober 2020, day 15: Not interested, thank you, Kara/Arcann/Theron (Arcann isn’t present for this), one of a handful of reminders that Kara and Theron are parents, connor just really wants to make his lightsaber -Fictober 2020, day 18: You don’t see it?, Kara/Arcann/Theron (post umbara pre Nathema so theron is only mentioned), something of a pep-talk from arcann.
Nora Hawke/Mikael Hawke: -That Time Back When We First Met, backstory on how my sith warrior and pub trooper met before they started their relationship: currently 2 chapters, hiatus (plan to work on more with 2021) -Fictober 2018, day 4: Will that be all?, little bit after they first met, can be considered a continuation chapter... technically
Koren Gates/Trey Hawke: -Fictober 2018, day 2: People Like you have no imagination, Koren/Trey & Shey/Torian (will put it for both pairs), little adventure of my bounty hunter squad +sith BF -Fictober 2018, day 12/13: Who could do this/Try harder next time, Kara/Arcann/Theron & Koren/Trey (Will have this in both pairs), sometime post-nathema probably, little adventure with Kara involving having to save her sons -Fictober 2020, day 13: I missed this, Koren/Trey, bit of fluff between my overly caring hunter who could use a day off and his grump of a sith boyfriend. -Fictober 2020, day 28: Do I have to do everything here?, Kara/Arcann/Theron, Arcann and Koth decide to play a co-op holonet game, with only minor arguing. -Fictober 2020, day 30: Just say it, Kara/Arcann/Theron, Kara gets a little time to herself and the trio’s weekly movie night ends up being a bit more than just the three of them.
Shey Shen/Torian Cadera: -Fictober 2018, day 2: People Like you have no imagination, Koren/Trey & Shey/Torian (will put it for both pairs), little adventure of my bounty hunter squad +sith BF -Prompt: I’m Right Where I Belong, Shey/Torian sometime post kotet, a rare time that I bring up the fact that she has amnesia and still can’t remember anything prior to about 2 years prior to the class stories starting. -Prompt: ... out of habit (kiss), former Shey/Koro mention as well as Shey/Torian, because Koro is a mess and while him and Shey have been divorced for years habits die hard. -Fictober 2020, day 8: I’m not doing that again, Shey/Torian & Kurana/Andronikos (will be under both pairs), Little bit of a fun idea of who would win in a fight, our dear pirate or mando
Kurana Knight/Andronikos Revel: -Prompt: One Falling Asleep with their head in the other’s lap, Kurana/Andronikos, I keep thinking of this prompt now and then because writing Niko being soft for his wife is a lot of fun. -Fictober 2020, day 8: I’m not doing that again, Shey/Torian & Kurana/Andronikos (will be under both pairs), Little bit of a fun idea of who would win in a fight, our dear pirate or mando
Lyra Hawke/Doc: -Fictober 2020, day 1: No, Come Back!, Lyra/Doc, little adventure on an unnamed planet that I honestly love the idea of -Fictober 2020, day 6: That was Impressive, Lyra/Doc, Another little adventure of information gathering featuring Kara’s youngest son, Connor. -Fictober 2020, day 22: And neither should you, Lyra/Doc, little bit of fluff and doc trying to get his wife to take a day off
Ren Hawke/Vinn Atrius: -Fictober 2020, day 9: Will you Look at this?, Ren/Vinn, I need to write more of them outside of btbn so this was a start to hopefully more building on my didn’t plan to ship this as strongly as I ended up doing pair.
Ava Reiner/Jonas Balkar: -Fictober 2020, day 20: Did I ask?, Ava/Jonas, Small job featuring a couple of SIS agents, and including a bounty hunter I got attached to in a hurry.
Kyri Dennan/Arn Peralun: -Fictober 2020, day 21: This, this makes it all worth it, Kyri/Arn, little build up for another pair that I didn’t expect to get attached to, featuring some implant maintanence.
Airi/Theron (one off because disaster spy/spy pairing I had to write at least once): -Admittance, 1 chapter, complete
WoW: Aulara Stormdawn/Kieran Grimmarrow: -Lunar Eclipse, (Technically my first fic but I didn’t post it until after Shall We Dance), A story involving Aulara (an orphaned night elf priestess), Koren Haven (her brother from the orphanage, a human paladin), Kieran (a blood elf noble, hunter who doesn’t have much people skills), and the friends they meet including Rokar an old orc shaman and Sen a orc huntress, that navigates through the warcraft story starting with vanilla wow. Currently 7 chapters, on hiatus but planning on picking it up again in 2021! -Fictober 2020, day 4: That didn’t stop you before, Aulara/Kieran, A quest during Legion and a bit of a flashback from one of their first quests together around when they first started fighting side by side during BC -Fictober 2020, day 25: Sometimes you can even see, Aulara/Kieran, The burning of Teldrassil and Kieran deciding he’s willing to risk everything he’s ever known to be with his wife. Koren is there to give him a hand. -Fictober 2020, day 26: How about you trust me for once?, Aulara/Kieran, early BC before they became a couple, Kieran and Aulara get a moment to talk alone in Nagrand, involves something close to an awkward confession. >:3
Shey Wrynn/Varian Wrynn: -Prompt: Are you testing me?, Shey/Varian, post WoD but pre-Legion, little walk through elwynn turning into an adventure between the king and his wife, Shey is not amused when he charges in head first. -Fictober 2020, day 2: That’s the easy part, Shey/Varian, mid to late WoD, bit of fluff while planning the push towards hellfire citadel, bit of fluff and bit of proposal.  >:3 -Fictober 2020, day 10: All I ever wanted, Shey/Varian, post-BFA Pre-Shadowlands, proof I can write at least a little bit angsty, some platonic Shey & Anduin. -Fictober 2020, day 16: I never wanted anything else, Shey/Varian, something short around late Cata early MoP involving Shey having a birthday. -Fictober 2020, day 27: Give me that, Shey/Varian, probably what I consider the most ooc i’ve written him but honestly i had a lot of fun writing them being dorks. -Fictober 2020, day 31: I trust you, Shey/Varian, sometime early Cata soon after they started a relationship. The one and probably only time I’ll ever mention Shey’s old house, and a touch on the fact that i’m 100% certain that Varian would try and sneak out of the city time to time.
Shey & Anduin (platonic, it’s always platonic/familial between them) -Fictober 2020, day 19: I can’t do this anymore, Shey & Anduin, because sometimes a girl just needs to sneak her son out of the city to give him a break and maybe check out a ruin or something.
Shey Wrynn/Aethas Sunreaver: -Prompt: By your side, Shey/Aethas. Post legion, a bit of a moment between them early BFA. I started writing them as a potential pair before settling as friends with benefits that might form into more, so this is a possible hinting at them becoming “more”
Mass Effect: John Shepard/Kaidan Alenko: -Prompt: War’s End Kiss, Shenko, Post ME3 when they’re just a couple of retired old soldiers and John’s slowly recovering from his injuries from the final push. -Fictober 2019, day 4: I know you didn’t ask for this, Shenko, Post ME3, a bit of a heart to heart between them and tending to slowly healing injuries. -Fictober 2020, day 3: You did this?, Shenko, Post ME3, Kaidan runs across some old footage of John over the years from before they met to the reaper war. -Fictober 2020, day 14: You better leave now, Shenko, during ME3, short mission against a hold out of mercs, featuring James. -Fictober 2020, day 24: Are you kidding me?, Shenko, during ME3 probably, featuring Kaidan “my headache doesn’t hurt that bad” Alenko and John “please just take a nap” Shepard. -Fictober 2020, day 29: Back up!, Shenko, during ME3, mission to clear out a cerberus warehouse including some battle flirting and James lending a gun.
Scott Ryder/Gil Brodie: -Fictober 2020, day 12: Watch me, Ryder/Gil, Post main MEA story, something short of Scott looking forward to getting out and exploring while Gil (and eventually Sara) work on the Nomad. (Sara is my pathfinder)
Dragon Age: Garrett Hawke/Fenris: -Dawning, Fenhawke, Short bit of fluff and my firt step into writing dragon age. Late or post DA2.
Lia Hawke/Fenris (a one off when I was debating on canon hawkes & romances for them): -Fictober 2020 day 5: Unacceptable, try again. Fenhawke, little bit of teasing and bad taste in books.
Rana Cousland/Alistair Theirin: -Promptless ramble, Rana/Alistair, Set during DAO with Rana reflecting on those she’s lost, worrying for her brother and realizing just how in love she’s fallen with Alistair. -Fictober 2020, day 23: Do we have to?, Rana/Alistair, set post DAO, pre-DAI, little romantic picnic between the king and queen of ferelden before she heads off on her next mission. (hints at Nathaniel being involved with the both of them.)
Greedfall: Lydia de Sardet/Kurt -Fictober 2020, day 11: I told you so, Lydia/Kurt, short bit trying to get my footing writing these two, Lydia thinks she can still climb trees like she used to as a kid. -Fictober 2020, day 17: Give me a minute or an hour, Lydia/Kurt, short bit, and Kurt not being as subtle about his feelings about Lydia as he probably thinks he has.
Anthem: Raya Auren/Matti (1 of the 3 Matthias Sumner) -Fictober 2019 day 1: It’ll be fun, trust me, Raya/Matti, Bit of an adventure involving Raya taking her favorite arcanist out of fort tarsis to see something very special. (also involving me having no clue how they transport people when there’s only one javelin and winging it)
Smut: (all of them are swtor so far) -A Moment Reprised, Kara/Arcann, takes place post-umbara and pre-nathema, and sometime late in BtBN, no plot. -Moving on, Koren/Trey, takes place right before chap 35 of BtBN, featuring my dorks of a hunter and sith setting in stone they’re serious about each other. no plot -Just a short vacation, Kara/Theron, takes place post-nathema pre-onslaught, A moment in Kara and Theron’s honeymoon at a lovely resort and the closest to taking a day off Theron will ever probably take. No plot -Welcome Home, Kara/Arcann/Theron, unlike the other 3 doesn’t have a specific time that it takes place other than post nathema. No plot

Fic Writer Review
@pixiedane tagged everyone on this, and considering I've been wallowing in my sudden Being Into Fanfic lately (though to be honest I've been READING a lot lately more than writing), see this link, I figured I'd take her up on the challenge. You, too, may take ME up on the challenge if YOU have been writing fic!
how many works do you have on AO3? 19. That's much less than @pixiedane! I'm a baby fic writer!
what’s your total AO3 word count? 66,239
how many fandoms have you written for and what are they? There are technically seven listed, but "Marvel Cinematic Universe," "The Avengers (Marvel Movies)," "Captain America (Movies)," and "Agent Carter (TV)" all apply to the same fic, so really just 4. But that doesn't count fandoms I've written but not completed (and therefore posted) for. So there are more to come. Maybe. Sometime.
what are your top 5 fics by kudos? *
"On the End of Endgame," 51 kudos, because I'm right and Marvel doesn't understand their own time travel rules and 51 people KNOW it!
"The Puppy-Fly Effect," 39 kudos, because it's Back to the Future, the most mainstream property I've written for! So people see it and say, "oh, I've actually seen that one" and they're more likely to read it!
"The Invitation: an Epilogue," 22 kudos, which is pretty good since this is my newest fic on there. It's a Howl's Moving Castle (BOOK, PLEASE, OBVIOUSLY) epilogue, so considering it's not a RECENT thing it just keeps getting slow and steady readership. I myself have been reading a lot of Howl fic lately, and people are getting comments on their decade-old stories from me now, so I imagine this one also will slow and steadily keep accumulating hits and kudos.
"Kerry and the Meaning of Life," 20 kudos. I'm honestly not sure why this is, by far, my most kudoed Legion FX fic. It's the first one I ever wrote, and got me started on the whole writing-the-entire-Loudermilk-coming-of-age rabbit hole I fell into to begin with, but I've only improved over time, I think, but even after I'd posted other Loudermilk backstory I think is objectively better, this one still gets the most!
"Syd's (Third) Childhood Begins," 15 kudos, because when people finish watching Legion FX the NATURAL move is to seek out fix-it fic. I wouldn't say this is fix-it really as much as ensure-the-ending-is-actually-happy-it, but I did use the "fix-it" tag, and at least one of the commenters DID say they immediately came on AO3 "looking for pretty much exactly this"...
do you respond to comments, why or why not? Absolutely, because I know what it feels like NOT to get comments, and also what it feels like to-- I don't know, I just get paranoid, if people don't respond to me, I think stuff like "Did I say something wrong? Do they not care about my opinion? Am I invisible?" so I'm Do Unto Others-y about it, even if all I can think of to say is "Thank you!"
what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Well, I haven't actually posted (read: finished) the ending yet, but it's definitely "Exploration of the Astral Plane," because that's just Legion FX canon. No spoilers, Oliver Bird starts out the show having gotten lost decades ago, and this is the story of HOW he got lost, and his friends didn't KNOW if they'd ever see him again, so the paragraphs I've written of the end do make me quite teary! The fic's really fun despite the canonically sad ending, though, honest!
do you write crossovers? if so what is the craziest one you’ve written? I have not written one YET, if I recall, unless you count the several mildly interconnected IPs involved in the Pipeweed Mafia Stories, which isn't even posted because I feel uncomfortable posting Real People fic online, but crossovers are fun and I really enjoy reading them, especially when the writer successfully blends things together while being true to the characters. Just today I read a hilarious one blending The Good Place and Harry Potter!
have you ever received hate on a fic? Gosh, this is such an ironic question. I wouldn't say that I WISH I received hate on a fic, but my fics aren't even NOTICED enough to receive hate! I already feel paranoid-- Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, you know how it is-- when I don't receive LIKE on a fic! It's LIKE receiving hate for me, because my brain goes into "Does nobody like it? Does nobody care? Are they all too nice to say it's terrible?" mode, so, yeah.
do you write smut? if so what kind? Absolutely not. My demisexual self hates reading it, definitely not writing it. I struggled enough writing just a taste of what a horny, slutty teenager who-talks-too-much Oliver Bird would have been in this AU, and that's mild!
have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of. That would really suck, wouldn't it, if someone stole my work and ended up getting MORE LIKES AND COMMENTS THAN ME on it.
have you ever had a fic translated? Also not that I'm aware of, and if I'm not aware of it but it happened I guess that would answer the "stolen" question, too.
have you ever co-written a fic before? Ever in my entire life, I feel like I must have, but not anything I've posted online then
what’s your all time favorite ship? Hmm. Honestly, there are ships I defend passionately if the topic comes up, but I'm not sure I have a favorite just on my own. Especially as I hate smut, so I avoid seeking out specifically shipping stories. But, since I have been reading a lot of HMC fic lately, I should mention that Howl and Sophie ARE one of my absolute favorite fictional couples, but that's just how DWJ wrote them, and I can tell you unfortunately that not all fanfic writers QUITE nail that chemistry...
what’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? Speaking of The Good Place, I really do wish I could write the novelization, and maybe I'd write some pieces of it longer than the few paragraphs I have written? But I doubt I ever will, let alone to the point of FINISHING...
what are your writing strengths? Fanfic wise, I like to THINK I understand the characters very well, at least! Writing in general? I think it's just my quirky voice? I'm the only me.
what are your writing weaknesses? Oh, very much FINISHING. But beyond that, it's pulling teeth to get me to fill out the story sometimes. I tend to draft with dialogue, and then I have to go back and fill in what's actually happening AROUND the dialogue, and sometimes I'd rather not.
what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? At first I was like, I don't KNOW any other languages well enough to do this! And then I remembered the Firefly fic I have mostly written but not completed yet, and you know how in the show their speech is peppered with random Mandarin phrases? My husband has the Firefly RPG book and there's an appendix of Mandarin phrases you might hear in the Firefly universe, and I DID incorporate a few of those phrases into my dialogue, just from that appendix and it's probably horrible, but it fit the universe...
what was the first fandom you wrote for? EVER? The earliest I'm sure about is the Ducktales fic I found in an old Girl Scout manual that I must have written when I was 11 or 12. The first fandom I ever posted on AO3, in response to an exchange, was Legion FX of course, but that wasn't until the ripe old age of 40.
what’s your favorite fic you’ve written? I'm going to give this one to "Two (or Three) Mutant Freaks Against the Fourth Grade" just because it has gotten the least number of hits of ANY of my posts, INCLUDING THE PLACEHOLDER WITH NO WORDS IN IT, so it needs more love. And it really is one of my favorites, because it's just a sweet little story about nerds making friends, and I love rereading it.
*This made me curious which fics got the most kudos comparative to their HITS, because the Endgame one has WHOA more hits than any other fic, but it's over a thousand, which doesn't make 51 kudos look so good anymore. Percentage-wise, it's less than 5%, which seems to be where most of my fics hit when you do the math-- between 4% and 8% kudos-to-hits. The exceptions, jumping up to about 18% each, are the BttF and HMC fics, and, curiously, my beloved childhood friend AU mentioned in the last question-- it may have the least number of HITS (22), but that helps the math when you consider it's got 4 kudos. The HIGHEST percentage kudos-to-hits is its sequel, the childhood-friends-as-teenagers-AU fic mentioned in question 5**-- it's got 6 kudos and only 29 hits, so that's about 20%! Apparently people LIKE when I have to write a sex-crazed adolescent boy. COME ON, people! (The story is actually about Asexuality so I guess it really isn't people just wishing I'd write smut).
**Oh, I just noticed the numbers renumbered themselves when I put bullet points in the middle of the original question 3 there, so this is actually the answer to question 8? But it SAYS FIVE.

this is sOOO late and im sorry, but what are your thoughts on the latest episode and s5 of supergirl so far?? :D
so season 5 was… difficult to get into, at first? There were a lot of things happening, and moments that I liked (Kara’s new suit and her in general, any scene Kelly and Alex shared, I really liked James, J’onn was very good, there was some stuff with Brainy I enjoyed, I weirdly liked Lena and Eve/Hope’s whole thing for example although that was a lot thanks to Supergirl Radio, etc.), but every episode I was worried about what was going to happen and so I couldn’t actually focus on a lot of it?
This continued for the first 4 episodes, I think. But from episode 5 on, I don’t know if things changed, but I found them easier to like personally and I spent less time worrying about them. Especially 7, and not just because I got to podcast about it. 8 was fine? Not the best midseason finale we’ve ever had, but it tied some things up.
I don’t know how to feel about Crisis, so we’re just gonna skip that, and I will say that I’ve really enjoyed both 5x10 and 5x11, the post-Crisis universe has been very good and interesting so far.
it’s almost like before then, the episodes had been… inhibited.
ha.
Kidding.
But seriously, on 5x11 as a whole:
I just want to say that I appreciated Brainy’s new aesthetic in the opening scene, as well as him setting things up so that he could get Winn out of there. That all was pretty cool, although what would he have done if someone other than Winn had gotten out of the bus first? What was that Winn thinking when he saw Brainy there, waiting for him? What are Brainy’s thoughts on time-travel movies, and would he like them enough to quote them?
it’s not guilt-free for you if you don’t need to feel guilt in the first place when eating chocolate because you don’t gain weight, Kara.
(the girls night scene was cute! I liked that that all was discussed, and I wish we got more scenes that were similar.)
I didn’t catch that Winn’s dad was into virtual reality at first, but that was very interesting and definitely made sense for the end of the episode. And I’m not sure how Lex knows so much about this alternate universe Winn? But he certainly got on his good side very well.
really big of Lena to admit that she needs Lex’s help, but they are working together, and this is a new universe where things are different now, so I feel like she meant it
love how Lena immediately is put off by Brainy being there, not because he was her friend and it’s weird that they’re meeting at that point, but because he arrived with Lex (was he in the same vehicle as Lex and Toyman? Or did he get there on his motorcycle?) and because he’s friends with Supergirl, which Lena knows very well. But Brainy’s acting was very good, and keeps him from being found out.
what exactly did Kara do to get her Pulitzer in this universe?
I hope that there is an action figure made of Supergirl in her new suit
I’m sure Lex really likes casually using the word “crisis”
damn. Kara’s slow walk out after she changed costumes was very cool, she looked very powerful and I love her
our Winn was Very Dramatic in the first scene he appeared in, but he’s still great and I missed him
also I appreciate how his suit is Ravenclaw colors, I feel like that maybe wasn’t intentional but it could be? I hope he designed the other Legionnaires’ suits to be more colorful, as well.
(I really want to see his reaction to Brainy’s new suit!)
I also liked the reveal that he has a wife and kid, that’s a perfect explanation as to why he’s stayed in the future (how long has it been for him?)
and I had no issue at first with his wife being named Ayla, because 1. my captions spelled it as Aila, so she could be someone completely different from the Legionnaire mentioned in 3x10, 2. if she really was the same Ayla, she could easily be bisexual and previously have been in relationships with women. who knows, we don’t have enough information. I’m upset about it as much as other comics fans are, and wish it was acknowledged, but on the show itself I think it’s fine for now.
Alex and Kara’s reactions to Winn coming back were so good, and if Brainy wasn’t trying to hide his emotions/guilt, I think he might’ve wanted to hug him too.
what “old friend” are you calling to keep the Legion ship safe, Alex?
I really missed Andrea, I didn’t realize it until now but I did and I want the best for her.
LENA’S FUZZY PURPLE COAT. it looked very nice and warm.
Secret elevator! (just imagine that in the tune of “Secret Tunnel” from Avatar the Last Airbender)
The tower!
I was almost expecting Kara to say “Arrow-cave” to be honest
it’s a very cool set in general, looking forward to seeing more of it, and I like the callsigns on the wall.
Winn, please tell us more about these very important things
my headcanon was that our Winn used the name Toyman as a way of reclaiming his father’s name for good, but I don’t think that works anymore. whoops
I feel like Alex might know something is up with Brainy? Or at least she’s going to suspect.
aw, I’m sure Kara felt bad about people writing articles about Winn originally. did she have to in season 3?
aww, I really enjoyed Nia’s reaction to the Tower, and her whole conversation with Winn. Also for what it’s worth I’m glad that Nura does still actually exist?
And she used her dreaming powers! I’m very happy about that! It’s good!
still no idea why Nia calls Brainy wildcat. I know it was because of that one movie Brainy referenced in 4x15 and 5x05, but… would appreciate an explanation, thanks.
Winn’s conversation with Kara is GREAT, this is exactly the kind of good heartwarming stuff I expected from a family reunion like this
I knew Lex was going to be sneaking around on a Legion ship! although we still don’t know how Brainy’s Legion ship is there, when we all saw it leave in the season 3 finale.
Uh… I don’t know how I feel about the fight scene? it’s fine? I like Kara’s super-speeding everyone out of there more, though
that Winn and Winn conversation was real tense and I appreciated it a lot
David did a very good job! this scene with William and Kara was kind of a natural progression of their already-established dynamic, and like you said, a way to make the next episode’s subplot for them seem more natural! of course Kara would take offense to that sandwich! people are just mean!
TRIVIAL PURSUIT PARTNER
what. did Winn and Brainy and everyone play trivial pursuit in season 3. when did they have time for this. is this how Kara decided to introduce the Legion to more 21st century pop culture. how did Winn decide that Brainy was a good partner for him, when they were rivals in the second half of season 3. I want to know.
anyway I love this scene. I love how easily Brainy tells Winn the truth and how genuinely sorry he is, and how much Winn understands Brainy and what he’s done, even if he’s still angry about what happened.
also Brainy crying when Winn calls him his friend is my reaction whenever someone says something really nice to me.
Brainy needs a hug, is what I’m saying. thanks.
lol I feel like the word “defiance” was really pointed there, for Jesse
also
cousin? Cousin?? Cousin???
I know nothing about this. I thought Winn was stopping Brainy’s great-great grandfather. that completely threw me. I’m sorry. what’s happening with this, I want to know everything.
this Lex and Lena scene is very pretty and also very tense, and I’m wondering why Lena chose that beach image?
game night is very cute! I like that Nia is feeling better! Also Alex continuing to say “she’s terrible” while Kara is taking her turn at Jenga, a very sister-y thing
I can’t believe Winn is using the fake name “Marty”, he definitely did that on purpose, what a dork
yeah that last scene really puts the whole “Toyman is eternal” thing into a new light, doesn’t it

Out of respect for my fellow roleplayers here, I didn’t want to reblog the original post with all of this so that the images didn’t stretch everyone’s dashboards, and I could put this under a read more.   The posts I’m referring to are @savagedesign‘s HERE, my response HERE, as well as THESE SCREENSHOTS of @discandi‘s post ( since I can’t link the post from the blog itself, nor force it to appear as a dashboard link ).   Apologies for the long post.
                    Regardless, here’s the tea:
First and foremost, I want to get the legalities out of the way.   The original poster states that the game’s box rating is M for MATURE, or 17+.   For the sake of posting my own information AS LINKED HERE for collateral’s sake, we can see from GameStop’s official website that the rating is the same where I live, which is in the UNITED STATES.   Other countries have mixed ratings, because other countries have their own laws regarding the proper age group to view said content.   So, while there are countries who say a game is rated 18+, and others state the ratings are 15+, so on and so forth, there are still laws that need to be discussed and taken into account.
The problem lies in the complications of differing laws across borders.   Just because you live in a country where the maturity age is considered 15+ to view and participate within certain types of media, doesn’t mean that you aren’t endangering other users across borders by writing the content within said media, where their country’s maturity age is 17+ or 18+.   To put it simply, A 15 YEAR OLD WRITING DEAD BY DAYLIGHT’S CONTENTS WITH SOMEONE IN THE UNITED STATES WHERE THE LAW IS 17+, PUTS THE OLDER INDIVIDUAL IN A POSITION WHERE THEY CAN BE HELD LEGALLY ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR DISREGARD TO THEIR COUNTRY’S LAWS.   And that, my friends, is called CORRUPTION OF A MINOR, because as far as the United States is concerned, you, as a person under 17 playing this game and partaking in its contents, are still a minor, regardless of the laws in your country.
And want to know why that’s a problem?   Because it can completely and utterly ruin that 17 year old’s life.   NSFW content is an umbrella term for all things considered within gore, smut / sexual themes, intense violence, blood, strong language, and things of the like.   Writing ANY NSFW content with a minor, regardless of any legalities determining age of consent for any and all media, is still illegal.   Allow me to source things that are applicable to this situation from my perspective, meaning me as a writer having to abide by the United States’ laws regarding content that is RATED M FOR MATURE.
ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE RATING BOARD ( ESRB )   :                                         MATURE RATING DEFINITION
Content is generally suitable for ages 17 and up. May contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.
                    CONTENT DESCRIPTIONS   :
INTENSE VIOLENCE: Graphic and realistic-looking depictions of physical conflict. May involve extreme and/or realistic blood, gore, weapons and depictions of human injury and death.
BLOOD AND GORE: Depictions of blood or the mutilation of body parts.
SEXUAL CONTENT: Non-explicit depictions of sexual behavior, possibly including partial nudity.
STRONG LANGUAGE: Explicit and/or frequent use of profanity.
These ratings and descriptions are put in place to protect individuals from exposure to darker and more adult themes.   This is why employees are LEGALLY REQUIRED to ask for identification when a person is purchasing age-restricted media, and why employees are further required to seek consent from a legal adult while mapping out the media’s contents when applicable.
The content ratings are meant to protect age groups from content that they are deemed too young to view as mapped out by a chosen government.   This is meant to ensure a person is old enough to handle seeing intense violence, blood and gore, while also hearing strong language or viewing implied sexual themes, and knowing that what’s going on in said media is NOT to blur the lines of real life’s morality.   So in Dead by Daylight’s case, the maturity rating is put in place because we have serial killers running around slaughtering survivors, cannibalizing them, snagging them in bear traps, chainsawing them, poisoning them, and then slapping them onto hooks.   Not to mention that Hag literally has one of her nipples out, which is still considered sexual in some definitions of the law.   We need to ensure that people under the given age aren’t going to go around tossing hatchets at pedestrians on the street, or electrocuting people with tasers or live wires, just because they’ve seen it in a video game.
While studies show that video games don’t make people violent, it’s very clear that there are situations where others may commit crimes inspired by the media they’ve digested before the recommended age, with or without parental consent or guidance.   Let’s move on to the legalities.
                    CORRUPTION OF MINORS                                         DEFINITION
Although it’s a pretty loose definition, the Pennsylvania Superior Court defines the phrase as “corrupting the morals of a minor” by explaining that it includes actions that would offend the common sense, sense of decency, propriety, and morality.
                    TITLE 18   SECTION 6301 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( i )   :                                         NON-SEXUAL CORRUPTION OF MINORS
Corruption of Minors is graded as a 1st Degree Misdemeanor punishable by up to 5 years in jail and a $10,000 fine. Since the offense is non-sexual in nature, an offense under Subsection (a)(1)(i) does not trigger sexual offender registration requirements under the Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
A person commits an offense under the subsection if he or she is 18 years of age or older, and commits one of the following acts: - The offender commits an act that corrupts or tends to corrupt the morals of any minor less than 18 years of age; OR ( cutting it here since the first one is all that applies here )
This literally maps it out right there.   To simplify it, a person who is 18+ engaging in media that is considered mature with someone who is below that age is committing a crime, whether they know it or not.   Because it isn’t SEXUAL CORRUPTION OF MINORS, the older party isn’t being put on the sexual offenders registry, but they do serve jail time, FIVE YEARS OF IT, which may make it difficult for them to find a job in the future, or assimilate within society when they’re out.   It is still damaging to a person’s life.
Now yes, a 2011 ruling in the U.S. Supreme Court found that video games are a constitutionally-protected form of expression, and that laws restricting their SALE OR RENTAL based upon violent content are unconstitutional.   However, this is restricted to just that, the sale or rental of violent video games.   If, say, a parent were to find the content you were writing with another person, and they disagreed with it and contacted authorities, the other person could still be charged if their country’s laws differ from your own, and they could serve some serious jail time while paying serious fines to the government, as well as paying for a lawyer to try and fight these accusations placed upon them from your negligence.
Therefore, @discandi, your statement     In fact here is the games rating in MY country     holds no validity to the argument because it doesn’t matter when you’re possibly endangering others.   The fandom is so up in arms about individuals under 18 writing in the community because of the content as advertised, because that potential about endangering another’s life in legal terms is a genuine threat.   We’re not completely saying minors can’t write mature content, we’re just asking minors to respect a writer’s individual boundaries without getting pissy about it.
Let’s get into the other portions of the debate, shall we?   @discandi‘s post   ( as linked in the first little introduction )   features some points that I have to disagree with, and that I find appalling.   Firstly, calling the community a bunch of freaks is a big assumption, and pinning the whole ra.pe fetishization argument on the entire community is an even bigger assumption.   Not all Dead by Daylight roleplayers are entirely into writing the super dark content, and in truth the community is EXTREMELY against portraying ra.pe, or writing du.bcon.   Take into account the community’s DISTASTE for the Freddy / Quentin ship.   People shipping killers and survivors together is not ra.pe since both parties are ABLE TO CONSENT considering all survivors are confirmed to be 21+, and all killers are confirmed to be 21+ with the exception of Legion’s members.   Frank and Joey are 18 - 19, while Julie and Susie are still in that unconfirmed area of being under, on, or over 18.
And now I just have to map out the tags in @discandi‘s post, as screencapped by me:
Tumblr media
Your logic of equating people who write darker themes to enjoying and justifying ra.pe fetishization is extremely flawed, because generalizing the fandom into this umbrella assumption without any real solid evidence to back it up is quite unfair to those of us who just want to write out the gore, or the murder, or the potential verses and character dynamics to be explored.   Are there people in the Dead by Daylight community who fetishize ra.pe?   Sure, but you will always find people like that in ANY FANDOM.   MLP, League of Legends, Steven Universe, Supernatural, Soulsborne, Red Dead Redemption, Disney, the list could go on and you’ll still find some no.ncon fetishization in the media as produced.   None of us ever said it was okay or valid of them to do that, and we in fact tend to voice our distaste for it.
In my time roleplaying on this site, which has been seven, almost eight years now, I have never seen anyone write out ra.pe or no.ncon or du.bcon in roleplay.   Even in a fandom that features a game as horrid as OUTLAST did I never see someone write out or fetishize these aspects in roleplay, even when you have those featured and implied in the actual game itself.
So saying that people who write darker themes and are uncomfortable with minors writing with them in similar media are just ra.pe fetishist freaks is a HUGE STRETCH to make.
In addition, bringing up @starlyht‘s reply to me, as screencapped HERE:
I never said a minors have never played a mature game, nor did I say minors haven’t engaged in material marked as mature.   Hell, I’m sure everyone’s done it.   What I’m saying is that SOME people, not all, are uncomfortable with minors writing mature content because it puts them at risk.   It opens up the possibility of legal troubles, or just doesn’t sit right with their personal morals because they’re 18+ and just writing with minors is uncomfortable.
And just when I thought I was done, here we have @hallowkills with their VERY UNINSIGHTFUL POST which I’m so glad to have seen before hitting post.   You’re going to come on here and get involved in this discussion, when you’ve made one of the most hilariously hypocritical posts that counteracts the comment you’ve made pertaining to the argument at hand.
On July 24, 2019, you posted:
ok little psa but if you rp a muse that’s like... from disney or any media that’s primarily directed at children (like cartoons, etc) i’m probably going to block you because this is a slasher blog and michael is not compatible with those sort of muses
                                        (   PROOF HERE   )     (   TAG PROOF   )
Okay, that’s respectable and understandable.   Personal preference, I get that, but then one of your tags proceeded to state:
Tumblr media
Which can essentially be taken as your refusal to write with adults who write characters from children’s cartoons because you don’t trust them.   The same can be said about adults who don’t want to write with minors who write adult characters or adult media.   It makes some of us uncomfortable, and in some ways, it’s illegal.   So why are WE being called gatekeepers, or ra.pe fetishists, or harassers when we could just as easily pin the same thing on minors who write adult characters and media?
And then you continued to make a post today shown HERE, screencapped just in case you decide to delete it.   How hypocritical do you have to be?   Imagine being a minor and getting mad about adults writing characters that carry nostalgia from their childhood.   God forbid someone enjoys something when it’s harming nobody.   However, minors writing adult content with certain people CAN harm them, punishable by law, and that’s the tea.
Checkmate, thank you.   Hope the free educating helps.   Have a wonderful day / evening, I think I’ve made my point and earned my rest before work.   You’re more than welcome to continue the conversation in IMs, as I won’t be clogging my dash up any more than I already have.
And before you ask for sources, I’m a criminal justice major.   I will happily post a picture of my degree on request, with personal information blocked out of course, and post proof of my education completion.   Sources regarding the law are from online, some textbooks, and my own knowledge of how the law works.

Hello Loten and welcome to Behind the Quill, thank-you for letting us get to know you a little better.
Many of our members will know your works with Post Tenebras, Lux and Chasing the Sun being considered classics for the SS/HG pairing.
Thanks for the invitation, hello everyone.
What's the story behind your pen name?
There's a werewolf novel, Bareback by Kit Whitfield. In one scene a character is looking at the moon and mentions that in Old English poetry they would use the term loten to describe a night when the moon was bright enough to see by. I haven't been able to verify it since the author may well have invented it, but I love nights like that and I liked the word, and the rest is history.
Which Harry Potter character do you identify with the most?
I get asked this a lot, actually. There is no one character, I don't think - I identify to some extent with most of the characters that feature more frequently in my fics, or I wouldn't be able to write them (the exception is Lucius, as far as I can tell he's truly fictional and not derived from anything in me). I probably have more in common with Hermione than the others, at least my version of her, but it's hard to say for sure.
Do you have a favourite genre to read? (not in fic, just in general)
Fantasy all the way. My mother nagged me into reading The Hobbit when I was around seven or eight, and that was it. I do read other genres but a good 85 per cent of my reading material almost certainly has magic or dragons somewhere in it.
Do you have a favourite "classic" novel?
I have a few. I like all of Austen's works, my favourite is probably Sense & Sensibility. I've just finished re-reading Jane Eyre. I like Elizabeth Gaskell's novels as well.
At what age did you start writing?
My mother is one of those parents who hoards everything her offspring do, and among the boxes of paper is a short story I wrote and illustrated when I was maybe five, about a flying shoe (imaginatively titled The Magic Clog). And when I was six I had a poem published in an anthology of children's verse (I don't remember how that came about; I think my school was asked to get involved, had a competition and picked out a few that ended up in the book) - my contribution was a piece of free verse about a dripping tap. So it's something I've always done, though I started taking it more seriously as a teenager developing roleplay characters.
How did you get into writing fanfiction?
My best friend when I was around thirteen was into fanfiction, she wrote Stargate SG-1 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer fiction at the time. I don't know how she got into it herself but she introduced me to reading it, though it was a year or two before I found the courage to try writing any. My early stuff was... not very good, and I will never admit to being the author of any of it now!
What's the best theme you've ever come across in a fic? Is it a theme represented in your own works?
Oh, that's a hard one. I like seeing consequences being explored - often authors will give a character the backstory or motivation they need them to have for the sake of the plot, but if it's not one of the main characters they won't pay it any more attention after that. When it's done well, I do like stories exploring the realism of just how a character would be affected by what happens to them. It adds a new dimension to their personality, and the psychology behind it is interesting in its own right. We're a product of our experiences, and so are fictional people. I try to show it in my writing as well - why a character does something is as important as the thing itself.
What fandoms are you involved in other than Harry Potter?
I read fics from all sorts of fandoms, but Discworld was where I first started writing (badly). It's a pretty small fandom despite the legions of fans worldwide, so I got to know a few writers there and learned more about what I was doing. Took a break for a while due to personal reasons, and when I returned under this name I started off in the even smaller Tamora Pierce fandom, trying my wings before entering the madness of Harry Potter. These days the Potterverse is still my first love along with the other two, but others include the Wheel of Time, Good Omens and too many smaller ones to list. I don't write for them or anything so active, though.
If you could make one change to canon, what would it be? Do you have a favourite piece of fanon?
Snape surviving, and the HG/SS ship, naturally! Do you listen to music when you write or do you prefer quiet?
Music, or Youtube videos (I watch a lot of Let's Plays), or just having the TV on. I can't concentrate in complete silence, my mind wanders to other things. I also talk to myself if there's no other source of noise and I'm trying to break the habit.
What are your favourite fanfictions of all time?
This would have been far easier to answer a few years ago, but I read less and less fanfiction as time goes by and I don't read Potter fics at all any more. My personal headcanons have developed more and more over the years, and nobody's headcanon is the same as anyone else's, so I end up disagreeing with fics these days because it's not how I would have done it and it makes it difficult to enjoy them.
The best fic I ever read was also the one that introduced me to HG/SS, but at some point, along the way, it was deleted and the author removed their account, and I've never managed to remember the title or pen name to look for it elsewhere. I don't remember the plot either after so long, but the characterisation was absolutely superb and the ship just made so much sense that I never looked back.
Are you a plotter or a pantser? How does that affect your writing process?
A plotter, definitely. I always have a first draft mostly complete before I start uploading anything. Initially, it was just because I realised I was writing longer stories and didn't want to risk hitting writer's block or real-life delays and having to go on hiatus in the middle of uploading a story, but later I realised I preferred it. I don't have to worry about writing myself into a corner or contradicting myself, I can take the time to make sure things are coming across the way I want them to. And it means I never have to force myself to write 'the next chapter' to a deadline - if I don't want to work on whatever comes next, I can jump ahead and write something later in the plot that I do want to work on. I also find it a lot easier to plan a story around a timeline to get the overall pacing right.
What is your writing genre of choice?
I don't really know what you'd call it. Slice of life, I suppose? I like stories about characters rather than about plots.
Which of your stories are you most proud of? Why?
Most of them, in their own way. My Tamora Pierce series, even though they're nothing groundbreaking and even though I know I could write them far better now, because they were the first things I wrote that I felt truly pleased with and because the overwhelmingly positive responses gave me the confidence to keep going, to try for something completely original rather than a retelling, and to venture into a far bigger and much more terrifying fandom.
Post Tenebras Lux, because it's (almost) exactly the story I wanted to tell and (almost) exactly the way I wanted to tell it. Chasing the Sun because it's the best written of anything I've done and I can see how much I've improved over the years, although I prefer the content of PTL. And I'm incredibly proud of the thousands upon thousands of positive and constructive reviews both of them gathered along the way,
I never expected to attract much notice at all and it's been a tremendous help to me both as a confidence boost and helping me see more about how others view storylines and characters in ways that I'd miss. I think overall it's PTL I'm most proud of, with CTS a close second.
Did it unfold as you imagined it or did you find the unexpected cropped up as you wrote? What did you learn from writing it?
Talking about CTS and PTL both, they're more or less the way I imagined them. Sometimes I'd get a review showing me a perspective I'd never considered, and one or two of them ended up having quite a long-running impact. Sometimes I'd reach a point, particularly in CTS, and realise that what I had planned for that part of the story wasn't going to work and I'd end up writing something completely different.
During the writing of both of them I mostly learned about how my brain works and how to organise myself to write at my best - I think I've learned more after they were done; I re-read both of them every year or so and see things I could have done differently and things that work and things I no longer agree with.
How personal is the story to you, and do you think that made it harder or easier to write?
Back to PTL for this one, since most of CTS' plot isn't completely mine. I never planned it to be particularly personal to me; at the time I just wanted to write about my favourite character and give him a better ending than canon did, and enjoy myself telling the story. As I went along and started touching on different subjects it became more personal - I've experienced bullying and depression, amongst other things, though fortunately not on the same scale as the characters I write about. I think it made it both harder and easier; stirring up old memories wasn't particularly pleasant, but it meant less time researching and rewriting those particular parts because it felt more real, to begin with.
What books or authors have influenced you? How do you think that shows in your writing?
That's another hard one. Subconsciously I think almost everything you read influences you at least a little. I tend to divide books into three categories - ones I don't enjoy and don't finish (which is rare but does happen), ones that were good but ultimately forgettable, and ones that deserve to be re-read, and I've probably learned something from almost all of the latter kind.
If I had to name one author it would be Terry Pratchett. His writing spanned such a vast spectrum it blew my mind wide open from the first time I picked up one of his books (I think I was ten or so) and he's still the author I come back to time and time again and find something to enjoy and appreciate no matter what my mood is. He's known for humour but there's so much more in everything he wrote. As for how outside influences show in my writing, I really don't know but I can guarantee they're there.
Do people in your everyday life know you write fanfiction?
Not really. Some of my school friends did, but over the years I've lost touch with all of them. Of my family and current friends, the ones that would understand fanfiction don't share the fandoms I write for, and the others just wouldn't understand the concept. I'm not ashamed of it, I just don't know how to explain it to someone who has no overlap with this world. Some of my online friends know, but half of them I met via my fanfics in the first place, so I'm not sure that counts!
How true for you is the notion of "writing for yourself"?
Where fanfiction is concerned, there's no point doing anything else. If you're trying to make a career out of writing you do have to write for your audience at least to some extent, but one of the joys of something not for profit like fanfiction is that you can tell the stories you want to tell and don't need to impress anyone.
The whole reason PTL exists is that I couldn't find a fic that told the story I wanted to read, so I wrote it myself. CTS primarily exists so I could fix a lot of the parts of canon I had the greatest problems with. The fact that other people agree is amazing and I still get warm fuzzies from every review from someone sharing the same opinion, but that wasn't the point.
Starting out in small fandoms meant I had no expectations for reviews so I never felt the need to try and court them, and every piece of feedback was a pleasant surprise rather than a main motivation. It's also a lot easier and more enjoyable to write for yourself; my other fics are mostly small one-shots based on prompts from other people, and many of them were a real struggle to write.
How important is it for you to interact with your audience? How do you engage with them? Just at the point of publishing? Through social media?
I'd say it's pretty important. I try to answer every signed review where possible, and it's always surprised me when people tell me they weren't expecting it - it seems to be something most fic authors don't do. It never occurred to me not to at least thank someone for taking the time to leave a review, and for those who leave longer reviews with questions or observations or (constructive) criticism I like the chance to explain some of my reasons for a particular decision or to talk about something in the fic or the wider fandom or writing in general.
That said, I don't have much contact with readers outside review responses and FFN messages. I don't really use social media (hence the format of this interview). Nothing against it, but introversion and a lack of much free time (and, it must be said, a little laziness) mean it's not for me at this point in time. I do have a blog but it's not very active.
What would you most like your readers to take away with them when they've finished your stories?
Honestly? I'm happy if someone finishes and thinks 'that was a good read, I enjoyed it'. Anything else is icing on the cake. Sometimes I get lovely messages from people who've been going through rough times and they tell me something in my stories resonated with them and helped them feel a bit better, and that's an incredible feeling. Others tell me they've been inspired to work on their own writing or to read more about a subject I mentioned. Some just want to let me know they've checked out a song or book I referenced or quoted and they liked it. All those are great, but as long as someone likes the story and enjoys reading it, that's enough.
What is the best advice you've received about writing?
The most specifically useful was probably "when you're writing dialogue, read it out loud". Time after time I've done that and realised a piece of a conversation was very awkward and strange and been able to rewrite it. In a more general sense, the best thing I've seen was "don't force it". If you're not in the mood to write something, don't try to, because it'll be far lower quality than if you wait until you're excited to write it down.
What do you do when you hit writer's block?
That ties into the previous question. Usually, I leave that piece of writing alone and either work on something else or move away from writing entirely and give myself a break for a few days to clear my head. Sooner or later something will shake loose and I'll see my way past whatever the problem was. (This usually happens either in the shower or while driving, when I can't do anything about it, because the universe just hates people sometimes!)
Has anything in real life trickled down into your writing?
Oh, absolutely, though I can't give many specific examples. As I mentioned before, my experiences with bullying and depression definitely added an extra dimension to the way I write about those issues, but that's the only obvious thing. I haven't consciously included any specific incidents from my life anywhere in my writing, but I'm sure there are a lot of small things I haven't even noticed. And there are definitely some details that are me, such as certain characters' music tastes (or a preference for black forest gateau...)
Do you have any stories in the works? Can you give us a teaser?
I get asked this one a lot! Yes, I do plan on at least two more long Potter fics, if possible. I'm fairly sure at least one of them is going to happen. I have some concrete writing and a lot of notes. But it's difficult to avoid treading ground I've already covered in existing fics, I don't want to produce anything that feels too similar. I also wrote both PTL and CTS while I was unemployed and living with my parents, and now I'm living on my own and working, so I have much much less free time. No teaser, I'm afraid :)
Any words of encouragement to other writers?
The only way to get better at writing is to write, so write. Don't worry about not being good. That can come later. You can always rewrite anything. My early fics under other names range from thoroughly amateur to absolute trash that I've disowned, and there's plenty of original writing that will never, ever see the light of day.
If you write something down and hate it, leave it for a while and then go back and look at it and figure out why you hate it. Try not to be afraid. It takes real courage to let other people see your writing for the first time, and nothing hurts like your first negative review, but the world won't end. Criticism comes in three forms - misunderstandings that you can address; genuine criticisms that you can learn from; and, very rarely, flames or trolling that you can ignore. Most people will have a valid point, and most of them will genuinely be trying to help you.
And READ. Read everything you can get your hands on. Fics, books, blog posts, newspaper articles. If you don't like something, try and work out why. If you do like something, try and work out why. Exercise your imagination and the rest will follow.
Thank you so much for spending some time with us Loten, it was a genuine pleasure getting to spend some time getting to know you better.

Okay so apparently I was REALLY late to LoSH Appreciation Week 2019
So I’m just gonna do a bunch of posts about my favorite Legionnaires, Legion villains, which Legion I prefer, favorite ship, my AU, and such to catch up.
FAVORITE LEGIONNAIRES
Tumblr media
Pre-Crisis/Johnsboot - Saturn Girl
Imra Ardeen-Ranzz you are a blonde disaster and I love you.
No but seriously this woman’s a total hardass and it’s amazing. She rigged Legion elections and had all the members suspended after stealing their powers for the sole purpose of looking like a complete bitch when she planned to take on an entire alien armada and sacrifice herself so no else would have to.
But then Lightning Lad stopped her and she was determined to sacrifice herself anyway to bring him back from the dead.
Not to mention this woman fucking stared down DARKSEID to get her other son back. DARKSEID.
I hate how Johns ripped out Imra’s spine but thank God Paul Levitz brought Iron-Ass Imra back.
Tumblr media
Pre-Crisis/Johnsboot - Lightning Lad
My other moron love, my ginger farm boy house husband.
Despite seemingly being the unluckiest Legionnaire ever, Garth’s been given a lot to be thankful for. He got super powers alongside his twin sister, got to meet and befriend his idol and inspiration, married the love of his life and had two (in one continuity four) kids with her, and they own a house and a farm.
One thing to love about Garth’s devotion to Imra is, I have to wonder if the two would’ve just kept dying to revive the other in some weird cycle because the moment Garth came back to life he immediately said “I don’t want to live at the expense of Saturn Girl’s life!”
Not only that but he was shown to a great dad who was more than happy to stay home and watch the kids while Imra went back to being a Legionnaire, and no one saw this as a joke.
I’m just glad Levitz toned down the anger problems Johns gave him so he wasn’t always snapping at Imra.
Tumblr media
Pre-Crisis - Sensor Girl
Because seriously this costume is fucking gorgeous. I know she was originally supposed to be Supergirl back from the dead, but I def prefer Projectra as Sensor Girl over Princess Projectra. Not because there was anything wrong with it (what she did to Nemesis Kid was amazing). I just liked the whole mystery aspect built over who Sensor Girl was and why Saturn Girl vouched for her.
Tumblr media
FYL - Matter-Eater Lad
Despite the problems with the FYL era, Tenzil’s spotlight issues were probably the highlight of the entire run. They took a character who was treated as a joke because of his seemingly useless ability and made him into this ridiculous, larger than life lovable idiot all because he played up how ridiculous he was.
Tumblr media
FYL - Ultra Boy
Jo Nah does NOT have ratty hair and God damn you for saying it. Despite the grossness around Phantom Girl getting fridged, Jo still got an impressive amount of character development in the FYL era. Especially in regards to how he figured out Glorith’s manipulations before anyone else and worked doubly hard to play up his dumb muscle persona to subtly undermine her.
Tumblr media
FYL - Spider-Girl/Wave
Again, the FYL gave minor baddie Spider-Girl an actual personality by making her a lovable dumbass and semi-reformed thief who showed surprising depth when she supported Ultra Boy going after Phantom Girl in the 20th Century despite how Sussa clearly felt for Jo.
It’s a pity Geoff Johns turned her into a future Neo Nazi.
Tumblr media
SW6 - Computo II
Danielle’s a low key fave I don’t discuss much, which kind of makes sense when in “Legionnaires” #1 while everyone else is freaking out about how the Earth domes are gonna crash into each other Danielle goes “No yeah I fixed that like five minutes ago.”
Her clashing with Chameleon was also pretty funny.
Tumblr media
Reboot - Monstress
Fuck Abnett and Lanning for what they did to her just to prove how unstable Element Lad became.
Candi’s fucking amazing. She’s sweet, strong, caring, has a great fashion sense, is observant, and isn’t afraid to tell people when they get on her bad side.
Tumblr media
Threeboot - Theena
Poor Theena never truly got a chance to shine, which is a pity due to her unique design and power which stood her apart from the others. Granted it wasn’t much useful in combat but it would’ve been cool to see her as a sort of permanent mission control, keeping tabs on all the Legionnaires.
Tumblr media
Threeboot - Gazelle
Another victim of how underutilized the Threeboot was, Gazelle never really got her chance to shine too. She wasn’t even included in Legion of 3 Worlds!
As an outcast just about everywhere, when Gazelle first appeared she hated the Legionnaires but slowly began to warm up to them after they helped her (despite how poorly she thought of them) and eventually joined their ranks.
What’s especially frustrating about how she was handled involves the proposed actual finale Jim Shooter wanted to do for his story. Invisible Kid had been nursing a crush on her it seemed, but in Shooter’s draft it seems Lyle would’ve come out as a transgender woman who viewed Gazelle as the type of woman Lyle wanted to be.
Tumblr media
Cartoon - Lightning Lad
YES I CONSIDER THEM TWO SEPARATE CHARACTERS
I didn’t care about Garth until season 2 came around. Aside from the gorgeous redesign I enjoyed the amount of depth he began to display and the soft side to his personality. His unwavering love for his sister and his surprisingly decent bedside manner. Here we had a guy who used to be a glory hog, and he passed up an awards ceremony to spend time with his sick teammates in the hospital.
I know what they say about loving bad boys but I didn’t care about Garth Ranzz until I saw the kindness he was capable of.

Tony stans hate Wanda so much because she's living proof that Tony's sordid past didn't all just “magically get better” when he decided to stop selling weapons to everyone but the American government.
Tumblr media
Tony stans as a whole seem desperate to villainize Wanda at every given opportunity - to make her bad or evil or unforgivable in some way.
For the longest time I thought it was just an attempt to make their fav look better, but after seeing them all forgive or even praise Pietro, who had the exact same motives and nothing if not more extreme methods than Wanda, now I'm starting to wonder...
Why is it that one twin is forgiven, while the other is condemned?
Tumblr media
Now a lot of people immediately jumped on the reason being sexism because Wanda is a girl and the Tony fan crowd aren’t really known for being kind to anything that might interrupt one of their crack ships, but based on the immense hate for Steve, Clint, Sam, and Scott that they all seem to perpetuate as well, I don't think this is the case.
Instead, I think that it likely boils down to the fact that Wanda is still alive, while Pietro is not.
Because while Wanda is still alive, the stans have to see a victim of Stark's careless weapons manufacturing days that is not a closed case or a done deal or a nameless extra that they can forget about a scene later.
For once, they have to face the fact that Tony’s mistakes have very long-reaching consequences.
Yes, Tony blew up the Ten Rings, but what about all the people whose lives they destroyed with his weapons before he did?
Who cares, because that never comes up. It gets swept under the rug.
Likewise, how many people were killed as collateral in Iron Man 2 and 3? How many grieving families were left a member short?
Who cares, because we never see them again. Tony sweeps in, "saves the day," and never once looks back. That’s what the PR team gets paid to do.
How many people did Tony injure or kill in Johannesburg when he decided to fight Hulk in a crowded city and punch him through buildings instead of luring him off into the forest or calling in the iron legion as backup?
Doesn’t matter, we don’t ever have to look at his involvement in that again.
How many innocent lives were destroyed when Tony decided to lie to Thor and use a highly dangerous and malicious infinity stone to bring his world-peace-keeping program to life outside of SHIELD/HYDRA’s project insight, and it subsequently went rogue and tried to destroy the planet?
Doesn’t matter, because nobody cares about any of them but Charlie Spence, the American Boy who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and whose death can be blamed on the team as a whole if he twists the words just right.
Nobody even mentions Wanda’s twin brother who died at Ultron’s hand. He’s just completely out of the picture here.
All of Tony’s victims up until this point have been completely and utterly ignored.
Except for Wanda.
Tumblr media
The sad part is, she’s not really even doing anything malicious.
She’s just hanging out with the others at the compound and doing her best to help and protect innocent people. The same thing they’re always going on about when it comes to Tony: “Oh, he’s just trying his best you can’t blame him if he’s not perfect.”
But the problem isn’t what Wanda is doing. The problem is that Wanda is walking evidence that people were hurt because of Tony’s actions, and that people continue to suffer long after he threw out his apology letter to the press.
Wanda was orphaned at a very young age. Suffered immense trauma. Was left homeless to grow up cold and hungry on the street. Her country, her home, was destroyed, and her last living family member was slaughtered.
All of these things due either directly or indirectly to Tony Stark.
Wanda has had every single aspect of her life destroyed by Tony’s carelessness and bad decisions.
She never brings this up - in fact, she doesn’t even seem to have a grudge against Tony over it - but her moving on from her anger doesn’t matter to the fans, because she is and will continue to be a walking example of just what Tony is responsible for doing.
And just like Tony himself, his fans will do anything to make that walking sign of his accountability go away.
Tumblr media
This is why, despite everything Wanda does in the narrative to redeem herself, she will never be good enough for them.
They are all quick to point out the “ridiculousness” of Wanda blaming Tony for her parents death based on his name being printed on the weapon, but they never bring up the fact that she was ten years old at the time, or went through the type of extreme trauma that would easily override logical thinking, even in the longer term, or that Tony’s weapons were STILL being actively used on Sokovia, and that was the reason that the twins (as well as dozens of other Sokovians) signed up with Dr. Strucker.
They leave out all of the details that might possibly explain her continued grudge against Tony in AoU, as well as the fact that her brother was the one who talked her into volunteering and simply wanted to kill Tony straight off the bat. They instead and instead try to perpetuate the lie that she’s being illogical and stupid for blaming Tony for anything that happened instead of magically knowing that someone else was pulling the strings or had bought the weapons illegally.
They take what is very clearly a terrorist attack and make Wanda the bad guy - acting like not a single life would have been lost in Lagos if Wanda had just been in jail like she belonged, and erasing Rumlowe from the picture entirely in order to do so. They forgive a known Nazi and mass murderer of all involvement, just so they can make Wanda look more at fault for not being able to save all of his victims.
They blame Wanda for Steve going outside the law and becoming a fugitive, despite the fact that Steve originally broke the Accords to stop an extrajudicial kill order on Bucky, or the fact that it was Tony locking Wanda up for Ross to come pick up/imprison that eventually forced Steve’s hand to more drastic measures.
They make Wanda responsible for Rhody’s injury, even though Rhody gave the command to fire, and Vision took the shot despite all of them flying within friendly fire distance of his target.
They blame Wanda for Thanos succeeding, despite the fact that he only succeeded because Tony refused to warn Steve and the others of the danger like Bruce begged him to (leading to Vision’s grievous injuries) and that he delivered the time stone right to Thanos, meaning that nothing anyone else did to stop Thanos would have done anything more than delay his progress by a few minutes.
They are desperate to find fault in everything she does or is involved in.
This is why the stans want her jailed. This is why they want her killed. This is why they call her evil, and a bitch, and a Nazi. This is why they make up off-the-wall posts about whitewashing someone of north European descent despite that area being mostly pale-skinned, and pretend that the actress is some horrible person in real life. This is why they write dozens of posts and hundreds of fanfics condemning Wanda and showing her as the evil hiding in the Avengers’ midst.
This is why they are so desperate to blame Tony’s mistakes on her.
They want this character gone by any means possible so they can go right back to pretending that their fav has done no wrong, and that a simple comment about “maybe I shouldn’t let terrorists sell my weapons anymore” is enough to fix all of the innocent deaths and destruction that he’s gleefully made his billions on.
Wanda was not the only one hurt by Tony’s actions, but she’s the one they have to look at and remember that he wasn’t always good, and that he has still yet to make up for most of what he’s done.
Don’t let them turn her into just another Tony sub plot.
#protect Wanda from the stans
