I respectfully disagree.

I don't think it's canonical he cheated on her. The show makes it clear she absolutely wrecked his heart and dumped him in a horrific and painful enough way that he literally moved across an ocean to get away from her.

Then she waltzed back like "hey I know I devastated you and didn't even have the decency to give you a clear and concise 'why', but you're going to take me back of course right? " James then eventually dated her but he wasn't happy and it wasn't the way it was for him even though to her they had clearly just picked up where they left off. He breaks up with her for good, and the only thing he did that may have seemed 'harsh' was how quickly he moved on with Kara, but even that. He had from the point of the breakup up until she decided to show back up to process and mourn the end of the relationship. It's not his responsibility to stay single until Lucy does the same. He also didn't owe her a second chance even if she did cross oceans for him.

She only gave him true clarity once she found out he told Kara about his father's camera, once again demonstrating that his 'feelings' for a Super (regardless of gender or connotation) will always come before his relationship with her. I think a big part of him agreed and didn't fight it.

That's just my take it's cool if we differ in opinions. And I didn't like James and Kara together or James and Lena. I think one of James core character flaw is he feels he needs to 'protect' his romantic partners. Outside of how everyday partners want to protect their loved ones. I think with Kara he really wanted to be that one human who Kara could love and trust, then his hero worship turned into him becoming fixated on becoming Guardian and aggressively thrusting himself in harms way. I think he's trying to prove something. I think with Lena, he wanted to be that one person she could trust and open up to and also wanted to 'save her' and I feel he didn't fight her on the breakup because A. When Corbin became a problem, she often literally stood on front of James to protect him even when it was just a verbal confrontation and I think that made him feel a type of way. B. It really REALLY bothered him when she went over his head and got in his way when he tried to martyr himself by being Guardian. She demonstrated she didn't need him to be her hero or protector and he eventually convinced himself he was okay with that when he wasn't and that's why he pushed so hard to control Lena by threatening an ultimatum when Lena wanted to work with the government. (Which is beyond fucking hypocritical considering he just about worked for the DEO which is very much a sketch government military organization created to literally Hunt Aliens. )

One does not give a Luthor an ultimatum.

I don't even think Lena could get past her own hurt of taking it to mean he didn't trust her, because she's a Luthor and we all know they are just inherently evil right? (Or such is her Achilles heel). So she cuts him loose and retreats into herself.

Please help me get off this soapbox before I get into how fucking grossed out i was by the fact that he immediately judged her based on her being a Luthor without knowing her and then had the gall to wax poetic about being wrongly judge and accused because of his race (Lena didn't get a say in who her father was anymore than he got a say about the color of his skin), then when he saw a chance to step up and be her knight in shining armor all of a sudden it's "I know you Lena and you are good."

He didn't tell Lena 'Supergirl' asked him to spy on her re: Kryptonite because he believed in an open and honest relationship (although I think he wasn't aware that wasn't the real reason why). He did it because he KNEW Kara was Supergirl and he felt threatened by her relationship with Lena so he sabotaged it. If Lena is mad at Supergirl then she would be absolutely livid at Kara if she told her her secret identity at that point (and I think he actually prolonged the amount of time Kara took to tell Lena by triggering her fear of being abandoned).

But in no way do I believe that he had a problem keeping that secret but didn't see an issue with keeping Kara's identity a secret. If when he was with Lucy Kara trusted his judgement enough to give him permission to reveal her identity to save his relationship but would have a problem with him doing the same for Lena whom they already know can be trusted. He didn't once advocate for her to tell Lena, even when they got together and he knew Lena's vulnerabilities in terms of her explosive reactions when it came to being lied to.

That to me seems out of character for what he was 'supposedly' all about. Unless there was a legitimate reason for him to not want to advocate for the reveal which would have been that he felt Lena would have drifted farther away from him. He couldn't stand the thought of Supergirl or Kara being Lena's hero and first point of contact when she needs someone to run to. If he helped facilitate a reveal it wound have made Lena and Kara closer.

Fuck it. Riku Replica has been living in my head like I found him in the Realm of Darkness, so here's a bunch of canon divergence concepts that I'm too lazy to write into full stories:

1: Repliku doesn't walk away after the Marluxia fight. Instead he also gets a pod and goes to sleep so Namine can fix his heart and make him like the real Riku, but with the Darkness locked away. Sora wakes up and sees Repliku in his pod. He wakes him up, assuming it's the real Riku and they go home to the islands. The real Riku (looking like Ansem) is then responsible for having to stop the Organization and deal with knowing that Sora doesn't even realize that Replica isn't him..

2: Repliku gets his ass beat into the ROD at the end of COM, but ends up on the Dark Margin and meets Aqua. They become friends. She helps him grow out of being a dickhead and he ends up sacrificing himself so that she can follow Sora and Riku into the Realm of Light at the end of KH2. He then gets kidnapped , Norted, and drafted into The Real Org from there.

3. On his his first visit to the ROD with Mickey, Riku finds Repliku, but he still has his physical form but BIGGO DEPRESSION. No angry, just despair to the point of being near catatonic. Mickey and Riku bring him back to Yen Sid's where he just stares out the window, not talking or moving until Sora shows up. And is like "Another Riku??? Can I have him??" Since the real Riku and Mickey are still going back to find Aqua, Yen Sid says fuck it, and let's Repliku go with SDG. The simple fact that Sora WANTS him to come along (even though he isn't real) combine with Donald and Goofy saying yes he can come with them (as apposed to kh1) is enough bring him to near tears. And he goes with them on their adventures and begins to heal and become his own person, with Sora noting how different he is from Riku and even giving him a different name like Kiru, or Cave or some shit.

He gets to save Namine

4. (This one is a Dark Riku/Replitwo Electric Boogaloo one) No Repliku in this one. Dark Riku is the Replica from deep into Castle Oblivion before his heart gets smashed and his memries are the most fucked up. During their interactions he keeps saying the weird shit like "always trying tonworm your way into my heart" and "it never mattered to you" and "I bet you'd all but forgotten about me" and all that stuff from COM. Sora beats him at the KBGY and he tells Sora to finish him off-- that he had already broken his heart, he might as well tear it out of him put him out of his misery. Sora doesn't (obviously) he's just super confused as to why he's saying all these things cause he thought this is Riku Ansem, but is realizing now it's not.

Xigbar, who is fighting the real Riku sees Sora is distracted. He knocks Riku back and takes his shot. Dark Riku, utterly broken and defeated, still notices and pushes Sora out of the way, taking the hit and saving him.

By this time, Riku is back up and back at the fight.

Sora, however is stunned, and as Dark Riku lay fading, he wants to know why he saved him. But all the Dark Riku says as finally fades is "Sora, let's take the raft and go. Just the two of us..." and then he's gone.
