^ Words of a boy who asked his best friend to run away at age sixteen and held that dream close to his heart ever since. Words of a boy who has the terrible and wonderful realization that he was entirely right about how much better their lives would be if they ran, and who knows they were both far too loyal to have let the other give up on saving their home. (It would never have happened. It could so easily have happened.)
