Empires Season 2 Katherine and Shelby have a couple key traits in common:

Both of them reside in lands that would quite like to be hostile to life.

Both of them may be tossing around a level of power that could, theoretically, maybe, be a danger to everyone around them.

This has made both of them be regarded less than positively by peers from their backstories.

Most importantly, both of them share a means of dealing with their problems: simply do not look at them. A very specific brand of denial. This can’t hurt you if you just keep pretending that everything. is. fine.
