Me, trying to explain the complex systems dragons have instead of genders in my book im writing to my cishet mom: so you see they have a warrior twin and a mage twin but their forms are malleable and dragons often dont choose a gender (as humans understand it) until theyre five or six centuries old, warrior and mage are just how the magic is divided between hatchlings because dragons are born in pairs and-

#anyways one of the lesbian dragons dies before the book starts bc thats what triggered the events of the book #BUT #one of the dragons changes gender presentation and appearance everytime they shift into humanoid form #one is dead set against the idea of human genders #one is a lesbian who wants to be a fashion designer for human clothing bc she thinks its cute #like mother the point of this story is found family all of these characters are queer #jean can you n o t #anyways i am very happy w what ive written so far!#but my mom telling me i wrote a heteronormative nuclear family enrages me
