whenever i'm having a joyous old time planning and piecing a quilt top there's a thought going through the back of my head, you're gonna have to find a backing fabric for this when you're done, while the jaws theme plays at increasingly loud volume the closer i get to the odious task

#the pre-sewing steps of quilting are wretched but i would stand at a table and cut 1'' strips for days to avoid backing fabric woes #a friend of my mom's gave me her hand-sewn quilt top to finish and it's like. i would rather have hand-sewn this quilt of 400000 squares #than have to find a backing fabric for this #like!! more cotton quilting fabric is meh because it's not any softer than the top #but that cheap flannel or other soft thick polyester backing fabric feels so cheap and scratchy #but then you get into having to spend like 50 dollars on the backing fabric alone #and it's like !!!!!! where do you TURN #i backed my glenn quilt with a thrifted sheet which was. not my finest hour of sewing choices.#the bee quilt is admittedly very cute but it was themed BEES obviously it's easier to find a backing fabric for that #but my ace jon quilt??? or this beautiful old hand-sewn piece???#i can't fuck these ones up my dudes it's like. the pressure is so high.#they have to be Perfect.#mythtakes #quilting tag
