Me realizing the fryer's dispenser nozzle was clogged while I was showing an employee how to rinse the fryer (with oil). Just kinda pausing. Sighing. Grabbing a hot glove and a thin long spoon and just telling the employee, "Don't Replicate This" before sticking the end of the spoon up the Not Empty fryer's open nozzle to dislodge whatever was stuck in there
It worked! Pretty easily, too. Didn't even get hurt. But that moment of being like "What I'm about to do is objectively kind of stupid, & I'm taking some precautions to try to avoid injury, but there's still a risk to this that I'm willing to accept for myself but I do not want you to put yourself at risk like I am"
Aka. My general existence at work, I guess

✕ — wasn’t that raven darkholme wandering the streets of new york, 1973? civilians know them as mystique and see them as a villain. as far as i know, the one hundred and fifty+ year old stands with the x-men (sometimes), and are rumoured to be pretty deceptive & misanthropic. ( julianne moore / gender-fluid / typically she/her )
Tumblr media
{ trigger warnings : mental illness, suicide, sexual abuse, drugs, terrorism, murder  }
hey everyone, i’m sophia!! i’m trash and neglected the intros for all my babies soooo i’m finally getting to them now!! anyways, i’m super excited to be here at 1973hq & i hope we can all be good friends!! <3 sooo. more about my first baby aka my murder!baby under the cut
LEVEL 1: INTRODUCTORY INFORMATION ABOUT MY MYSTIQUE //
im not even gonna touch the mceu version of mystique ok thx therefore shes gonna be combination of comics mystique and a bunch of my own headcanons — soooo
LEVEL 2: SURFACE LEVEL MYSTIQUE — THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY //
( skip this part if youre familiar with the mcu its basically a shortened version of her bio )
the binch is oLD ok??/ old af. probably several centuries old. i’d say 200 years old at minimum but its never really been disclosed
don’t even get me started on wtf i think happened to her to fight just to survive at age 12 when her mutation kicked in bcus,,, yike
her entire life has been characterized by betrayals. whether it be mystique betraying someone else (most likely) or her being betrayed by someone else (in the case of destiny)
her n destiny met in the early 20th century. destiny asked her to help decode her prophecies and to stop the terrifying ones from being fulfilled. they fell in Luv. they are partners. gay ass partners. (the original idea for mystique n destiny was for nightcrawler to be their canon kid. via mystique in a males body. but this was retconned bcus of homophobia thx but i’d personally love this hc if we get a kurt & it’s ok w/ them anyway )
anyway after ww2 she met sabertooth n had her first (canonically recorded) kid, graydon. who. lo n behold, she abandoned.
that’ll be a trend, fyi, better watch out for that
but graydon turned out to be a mutant hating human so thats fun
then mystique from our time went back in time in attempt to assassinate graydon (which doesnt, in the end, work),,,, also fun
then she gets married to a wealthy german count,,, uses her power to start seducing other people, when she meets azael who  manipulates and seduces her. has nightcrawler via azael ,, its cool
raven murdered her husband and was then regarded by her townsfolk n as a demon. she escaped but abandoned kurt,,, also cool
she adopts raven then. and actually genuinely loves her. (more on this in the next section)
she founds the 3rd version of the brotherhood n they do more terrorist shit good job mystique #magnetowasright
sike mystique betrayed  magneto and turned him into the government, turned the brotherhood into the freedom force, n started working for the gov. working for freedom force is when destiny died and that triggered one of mystiques many breakdowns (also more on this below)
she was v depressed at this time and taken advantage of by the shadow king. raven let herself be brainwashed by the government into thinking she was her own government handler to take down the shadow king. didnt work. he torments her the rest of her life. yike.
she had nanotech put into her head so the government could force her to work for x-factor, while with them she finds out destiny during their partnership had other partners and kids she didnt know about and one was a mutant
graydon has this mutant savagely beaten. before mystique can kill graydon for this, hs followers kill him n turn him into a martyr. super fun. cue operation zero tolerance.
mystique went undercover as the senators wife for a while n used her connections to the fbi to do shadier shit
she then ran away and took some random chicks form and became a model and made a ton of cash — u go girl
except this kinda sucked for her because she moved into a penthouse suite which in the neighbouring building had skulls plotting to take down mankind. they framed her for a murder, her powers stopped working, n she was arrested
the government eased all her alternate identities and froze all her assets and access to the money she and destiny saved up for decades. cue another mental breakdown
then she finds out destiny was responsible for founding the anti-mutant conspiracy mystique spent her whole life trying to stop, and that destiny also didnt give medical attention to mutant kids who were deformed from their mutations
long story short she has an even worse breakdown n goes completely nihilistic, realizing she cant change the world for the better, she remakes the brotherhood and impersonates moira mctaggert to get her research on the legacy virus
a bunch more shit happens with raven ending up in the care of homeland security. xavier makes a deal with her and breaks her out. everyont thought she tried to kill xavier,,, when she didnt actually,,, because xaviers a shady fuck,,, but oh well. rogue disowns her for it. leads to another mental breakdown.
because of this she decides fuq u xavier and creates a mutant kid identity for herself known as foxx and joins the xmen to stop rogue and remy’s relationship
she helped the x-men during this time n also helped save rogue’s life via the messiah baby. but once again her intentions are misconstrued
she snaps again and impersonates bobby drake’s girlfriend & gets the poor boy hospitalized
norman osborn then recruited her to the dark x-men, injected her with nanites, then helped logans soul to hell, but then changed her mind and helped get him back. when he got back tho he uh. well. killed her. her and sabretooth were both resurrected by the hand (more on this later)
mystique then rejoined the brotherhood, impersonated alison, and took her place as mutant liaison for shield, harvesting her DNA to make MGH (mutant growth hormone)
LEVEL 2.5: MYSTIQUE’S PLACE IN THIS VERSE
i imagine she went back in time to 1973 under the guise of helping people & being “reformed” but in reality she was also doing shady mystique shit on the side and probably trying to tie up some loose ends, whether it be with graydon, the shadow king, destiny, or someone else. or probably a combination
anyways now shes staying w/ the x-men part time and playing Good Girl for now. she wants to show everyone that shes reformed n better n just wants to do things for the betterment of mutant kind. wants 2 get their trust too
shes pretty. level headed right now i’d say. betsy braddock helped her during one of her mental breakdowns by telepathically realigning her fragmented psyche — she’s still mystique n still awful but not as chaotic anymore. and less prone to attack rogue or other people aimlessly. it’s much more goal oriented now.
LEVEL 3: MYSTIQUES PSYCHE //
ok so she identifies as gender fluid bcus she shape shifts forms but also because i imagine shes so sick of having sexualized herself all these decades to get what she wants that shes just fed up with gender norms and thinks theyre bullshit. she’s fine to go by she/her pronouns but she doesnt really identify as a specific gender in my head
she drinks but mostly absinthe and only w/ people she trusts. along those lines it’s similar for drugs but she loves a good high and a good hallucination
she has bouts of psychosis that her wiki defines as schizophrenia. it manifests in much more anger and aggression. hallucinations. delusions — especially presecutory and grandiose delusions — lack of pleasure (hence the nihilism), social withdrawal, and poverty of speech. her sense of identity becomes so fractured that she cant keep herself consistently in one body without it taking all of her concentration — and sometimes that isn’t even enough. she gets lots of mood and cognitive changes during these episodes — and completely loses her sense of self
despite her grandiose ego she’s actually very self conscious and refuses to look in a mirror. actually she’s scared of her appearance. she cant look at herself normally in fear of seeing a monster look back
this is also the reason she was so easily deceived by azael. he looked like a monster, too, and embraced her for how she is. he didnt make her change to fit another appearance that couldve been “more beautiful”
lastly, her motives for doing things??? are always for the betterment of mutantkind. over time this got very skewed and her belief became that the only way for mutants to actually live is for all humans to die. shes a terrorist through and through, but she loves mutants. she just has a personal vendetta against the x-men that’s grown over the years — her constantly being betrayed by people during her episodes of psychosis and the x-men never actually believing the real story (but also like. why would they??? shes often so awful too)
shes attempted suicide canonically in the past. she loses control of herself. it’s also heavily implied she’s been assaulted in the past. anyways shes a sad baby too
— so thats about it for my murder baby! yike this got a lot longer than i expected it to but anyways i cant wait to write her with all of you!! <3

Quick & Dirty RP Info | Valris
Tumblr media
Biological Family
Father: Valris’ father, Drowsy Inferno, is a towering, hulking, and serious-natured Hellsguard. He’s a very well renowned sellsword(axe) across Eorzea, with a specialization in bodyguarding. He is often sought after by members of the Syndicate, their relatives, and their extended parties. Growing up in poverty on the streets of Ul’dah, Drowsy acquired his claim to fame by taking up an axe, and much like many other Hellsguard, gradually building up merit by selling his brain and brawn to families, then merchants, then lesser nobility, and so on and so forth. It wasn’t until his mid-twenties where he truly became known around the realm as part of an adventuring duo--the Two Eyes (this is because, in a weird twist of fate, both he and his partner each lost sight in their left eye). Eventually, one job led him to the Azim Steppe to protect a Doman noble while striking a lucrative trade offer (mostly on the Doman’s part) with the members of the Olkund tribe. The next year, he came back to Eorzea with a Xaela baby in his arms. He then settled in Limsa Lominsa for almost a decade, completely outside of the limelight, content with just being a father--but the rush, the glory, and naturally, the gil,  called him back to his old trade once more. at the age of 12, Valris joined his father, and begin learning the family business.
Mother: (IC) Valris’ mother, Qadan Olkund, is largely unknown to Valris. All he knows about her is her name, and that she hails from the Olkund tribe. No more, no less--he has absolutely no recollection of her. (OOC) Qadan Olkund used to be an outgoing, energetic, happy-go-lucky warrior from the Olkund tribe, most proficient with a spear. Valris is actually the spitting image of her--it would be unthinkable to say the two are not related when comparing them side-by-side. During Drowsy’s escort mission in the Azim Steppe, Qadan and Drowsy an insanely cliche, but intensely passionate and short-lived relationship. After a year, once the magic had worn off and the two realized they were just lusting after one other, they decided to call the relationship off. Shortly after Valris was born, and without notice, Drowsy took the child and cut off all contact with Qadan, something Drowsy has never had the courage to admit to Valris. To this day, Qadan (naturally) resents Drowsy for stealing Valris away. For a decade after their departure, Qadan had given chase to find her child and bring him back to the Steppe, but Drowsy’s sudden departure from the spotlight left everyone baffled, and the trail for finding the two gone. Defeated and her spirit broken after 10 years of searching, she returned to the Steppe where she now lives out her days idling by, hoping that one day her son, Yul Olkund, will make his way back way home.
Siblings: Biologically, Valris is an only child (as far as he knows). Haelbryda, a childhood friend of his, was unfortunately orphaned at 14. Drowsy took custody of her, and Haelbryda began to travel the realm with them from job-to-job, until she finally set out on her own, as an apprentice weaver in ul’dah. Nowadays, as a result of being a natural at the practice, and also having honed her craft for a decade, she’s quite established in the fashion world (and a bit infamous for also for having various... “relations” with her female clientele). Val and Haelbryda live together as housemates currently, where she puts up with his dumb shenanigans in exchange for him modeling for her work.
Pets: A small sparrow that follows him around. Val isn’t sure when it started to follow him, or why it does, but he genuinely appreciates its company! In actuality, the sparrow just wanted to use his fluffy hair as a nest, but eventually grew fond of traveling around with Valris (and free food fam).
Skills: Drinking, eating, fighting, sleeping, partying, and getting in trouble
Hobbies: Singing, dancing, and modeling. Occasionally practices carpentry when he’s feeling exceptionally positive. Enjoys making birdhouses
Traits
Positive Traits: Accepting, highly amiable, trusting, generous, a lovable rascal, just an all-around Good Dude(tm)
Negative Traits: Highly impulsive, flighty, hasty, impatient, secretly envious and bitter (much to his dismay, as he tries to repress these feelings as much as possible and almost never lets this slip), self-destructive, martyr-complex
Thing he hates about himself: What Valris hates the most about himself is his lack of drive for anything. He’s constantly dissatisfied with where he’s at it in life--he’s pushing 30 with no aspirations in life other than to watch it slowly pass him by. While everyone in his life is paving their way in the world, he feels like he’s being left behind--he’s not particularly good at anything he truly cares for, and he just spends his days wandering around aimlessly, taking whatever odd jobs he can find to sustain his compulsive drinking habit.
Other than that, he feels out of touch with his heritage--he feels neither here nor there in regards to culture. He visually passes off as Au Ra, but has absolutely no connection to the Xaela culture, and much less the Olkund. He’s familiar with the ways of the Hellsguard, but is never recognized as one since he barely shares any traits with his father.
Three words people would use to describe Valris: kinda eccentric / kinda dumb / kind hearted
Likes
Colors: Black, Pink, Yellow/Gold, White/Silver
Smells: Spices, sea breeze, freshly rained-in forest
Textures: Wool, soft sand, bark
Drinks: Enhance ALCOHOL
Other Details
Smokes: Fairly often, though rarely around other people. he tries to hide it for the most part
Drinks: Wayyyyy too much. He doesn’t have a flask tied to his shirt for no reason--this lad is a partyboye
Drugs: Has tried before, but avoids completely due to bad experiences
Mount Issuance: Somehow, yes
Arrested?: Wayyyy too many times to count. Though he usually always gets released shortly thereafter, once they realize he’s an idiot that means well

im always constantly torn between whether or not i actually want to write the story of Atlas and the first superheroes/supervillains but i did a character exercise where i wrote Vince, Rudy and Blaiddyn just giving their own version of the history as they understand it in their words and its increasingly making me feel like it would be a mistake to write Atlas’ story in the definitive because then that almost feels like im enforcing one particular set of events?
like its really important to Vince’s character that they see Atlas as someone who was essentially martyred, like Atlas (in Atlas’ own words) became the first supervillain in order to challenge the rule of superheroes and make sure superheroes didnt get complacent in their position as Heroes and didnt begin to think they were undefeatable perfect gods who were Allowed to control the lives of the world. and the person who became a villain had to have been a hero, because it shows that any of their rank could ‘turn’.
like Vince focuses really hard on the early parts of Atlas’ career as a ‘villain’ where he mostly challenged corrupt heroes and just kind of brushes over the parts where Atlas murdered a shitload of people in order to maintain his own position as a free villain, including his own friends and lover. like to Vince, the ideology behind what Atlas was doing - trying to prevent superheroes from becoming a corrupt force that never questioned their own actions because they believe they Cannot do wrong - is more important than anything he actually did.
a big part of that, of course, comes from how Vince was abused by a ‘superhero’ who was twisting the system to allow him to get away with what he did. and to Vince the idea that anyone was ever actively trying to prevent that is something they cling to fiercely. Vince really intensely believes that heroes are just so fucked by this point they have to be wholesale slaughtered, more or less, because anyone who isnt actively corrupt is just complicit in and contributing to the corruption and evil of the others.
but to Blaiddyn like, Atlas’ decision to kill people is absolutely key in who he is. like she believes the superheroes are just as fucked as an organisation as Vince does, but shes a strong believer in internal reform, and to her, Atlas’ decision to leave his position as an incredibly influential and famous hero so he could be a vigilante outside of the law defines Atlas. like to her, Atlas choosing to stop being a superhero and to kill people outweighs any good beliefs he had.
like as Blaiddyn sees it, Atlas had the opportunity to reform the superheroes from the inside and push for more stringent rules about monitoring and recruiting heroes, but when that didnt immediately work out for him (because he did try initially, but was blockaded) he gave up and decided to just do what he wanted. like as far as shes concerned, Atlas is just someone who wanted to kill people like he wanted to be in a position where he was judge, jury and executioner, and wanted to have fame and credit for it.
in general Blaiddyn really strongly believes that doing good and being a good person is a choice people make every day and to her, Atlas’ decision to become a murderer shows a kind of weakness. she agrees with parts of his ideology, but that doesnt outweigh the actions that he took and she thinks hes a fucking fool for not choosing to use his influence for internal reform.
but then w/ Rudy like when he tells the story his priority is the people themselves, like his take away from it is how lonely Atlas had to have been to feel like he was the only person in the world capable of shouldering the responsibility of turning on the superheroes and becoming their opposition. like hes in awe of how strongly Atlas had to have believed in what he was doing to subject himself to that.
and all that traces back to Rudy being a ‘sympath’ of course, where his superpower (sympathy, understanding) is so tightly bound to who he is as a person that he cant force himself to like... not understand how Atlas must have felt and why he was doing what he was doing. but at the same time hes beginning to form some of the ideas that eventually force him to quit being a superhero and become a vigilante whos trying to hunt out corruption within both the superhero and supervillain orders. like in a lot of ways he (and Vince) are kind of the second comings of Atlas, and Rudy kinda like... knows that a long time before Vince does.
both Vince and Rudy really see themselves in Atlas. but for Vince theyre like,, projecting their own anger and desire for revenge onto him, whereas with Rudy he just more... understands the feeling of coming to a point where you can no longer not take action against corruption and having to do something about it, although Rudy has his own stringent moral rules and isnt about to commit the same acts of wholesale slaughter Atlas did.
and like... i feel like if i produce a single vision of who Atlas was then it takes away from all of this. like i dont know if i want the readers to know Atlas any better than any of the characters do. like he died in the sixties in-universe (Valentine’s Day takes place about ten+ years frm now) so like... hes a Historical Figure none of them actually have a personal connection to. by writing him i would be giving the reader a personal connection and i dont think i wanna do that. im probably gonna write some stuff just for Fun tho honestly.

also almost hundred percent that Tsitas’ ancestor (not the condesce - Tsitas isn’t the Heiress. mostly because i dont want to fuck with that) had a very strong relationship with Endlyn’s.
Endlyn’s (The Lawmaker, at present) did what you’d expect - Made Laws. This is because she’s fairly middle on the spectrum, low enough that she understands low blood thinking, high enough that the blue bloods stand her. But she has limited reach - she’s basically completely restricted to Lowblood Policy. That is, until Tsitas’ ancestor (the Director? Eminence? idk which) finds her. A lowblood notable for her extreme loyalty is a prize indeed, and what better claim for a high blood? She essentially sponsored the Lawmaker, allowing her job progression unlike any of her caste, while making it clear she was her pet. The Lawmaker was hers to command. What the Director wanted as law, was minted as such. It’s likely this sort of activity is what got the Lawmaker killed - while following the Director’s instructions, she stepped on the toes of another highblood (likely Iliyas’ ancestor), perhaps ordering him to do something for her. It didn’t sit kindly. The Director had much blood on her hands when she was finished taking revenge for the murder of her ‘pet’. The relationship was likely somewhat closer than that - it would have been publicly restricted by the perception of caste distinction. The most the two could ever have been is moirails, leaning on and aiding the other. The Lawmaker was a shoulder to cry on, an unjudging soul - how could she judge those of such high status? The Director was a bringer of unholy vengeance. They worked perfectly together.
Meanwhile Iliyas’ ancestor is his damn near inverse in terms of personality. Iliyas’ selfishness and exploitation of others brought to the forefront, made truly manifest. A greedy seadweller, a Conqueror (but that /doesnt fuckign fit/. Champion?), who took what he desired and cared little for its effect. Such was his mistake to take the life of the Lawmaker, unaware she was the Director’s property, only aware that the possession of the life of they who writes law was a treasure, indeed. Before this fatal error, he likely took from many of the other ancestors. Rhiana’s would be a strong contender for that position - perhaps she too was slain at the Champion’s hand. But in that instance, it was likely the event that gave him this title - her ancestor was almost certainly a rebel, however minor. (I want to say Guerrilla, but with Serren’s quirk combining double r’s? for an 8 set). A leader? Unlikely so high. But she had influence, she had power, she had appeal to the people. Her death - and the subsequent deaths of those who had aided her - made him a Champion. She was not a martyr, however, for she had as yet done little. An idea. Her death was quiet, a nameless among many. A ghost of what could have been. That, or perhaps she HAD succeeded - the Lawmaker, responsible directly for a lot of suffering through what she wrote, slain by a vicious rebellion. Rightful retribution from the Champion. Which then begs the question - how does the Champion fall? Perhaps this is where Lyndel’s ancestor comes in. A long and twisted revenge for a lowblood lover. A straight forward slaying and self banishment, a soul never again seen by the law and indeed by the stars.
ok how about the flowery leaves. lets make it simple. So, the Director takes in the Lawmaker as a sort of sponsor, allowing the Lawmaker a great amount of power. As a figurehead (and comparatively vulnerable), the ‘Guerrilla’ slays the Lawmaker as part of her rebellion. This backfires, as the Director sends her Champion to wreak retribution. The Champion is then likely himself slain by Lyndel’s ancestor, in a display of absolute back stabbing fuckery rarely seen. What power. She excuses herself from proceedings and is assumed to die alone in the wastes.
so thats 5. that leaves three - Junzha, Dahnte, and Zekari. There’s more to the Director’s lifespan (shes nigh fuschia, after all) but. yknow. fuck em.
You’d assume Dahnte would be her Champion, and perhaps thats how Dahnte actually envisions himself - as Tsitas’ Champion, since Iliyas is so.... lackluster. but that was not his ancestors role. Dahnte’s ancestor was himself the lackluster one, a weak highblood who formed relationships with lowbloods in order to survive. He surrounded himself with the psychically superior, safe in the knowledge that they couldn’t affect him personally, but that they could hurt his enemies. Among these is almost definitely Zekari’s ancestor, who isn’t a particularly powerful telekinetic, but strong enough to attract the attention of the needy. Whether this also includes Junzha’s ancestor, im unsure, though to figure that out i need to figure out what the fuck power Junzha actually has now. lets assume Yes for now.
SO he has this squad of powerful lowbloods to defend him from people who would do him harm. It is then not difficult to believe that he gets cocky with his army, picks a fight with someone he shouldn’t (perhaps Champion, perhaps Director herself?) and his group is summarily completely destroyed. He flees. He is, at this point, the Recreant. A coward, a fool. What happens once he flees is unclear - perhaps he encounters the Apostate, Lyndel’s ancestor. Though if we have it be that the Recreant attacked the Director (and got one or both of Zekari and Junzha’s ancestors killed), i think that the Guerrilla’s campaign should be for their justice. Rhiana is a spirit of vengeance. this is why her ancestor isn’t a martyr - theyre a reactionary, and theyre just as violent. Slaying the Lawmaker. leading to the Champions subsequent mass slaughter of bronze and burgundies. Leading to the Apostate to swap sides - she relates to the Guerrilla’s struggle, even if she had disagreed with the method. She openly betrays the Champion, killing him in his own hive, in his own base of power. It’s a fucking powerful move. And then she flees.
So like, woulllld they meet beyond that point? The Apostate and the Recreant, alike as traitors but distinct by their courage. They both basically disappear from history at this point, so its not IMPOSSIBLE. its also not impossible that the Recreant already had his shit pushed in before that point. like in the gap between his army’s defeat and the betrayal of the Champion is completely possible that he just fucking died somewhere. the Apostate seems far more capable, though her death likely comes swiftly as well - she won only through subterfuge.
ok, so say thats their ends. Junzha and Zekari. whats up, lads.
i think a god idea for Junzha’s is a man conscripted into the Recreant’s foolhardy gang. His talents lie not in combat, but in civility, in aiding the restless and the weary. It allows him to protect himself, but few others, when the Director’s fury rains down. He rises amongst the bodies of his fellows, alone. She claims him as a trophy of her conquest, and he is given new purpose. His talents bolster the Director’s own forces, ease their sufferings. But never his own. His soul is always black, and further still when the Champion claims it was his capture that caused the death of the Lawmaker. he is the Catalyst. he allows others to act, causes it. but he is confined, constrained. his service is loyal, but not out of love, and he is the one ancestor who dies of completely natural causes - alone but for his work. he is sometimes known as the Destroyed - for naught remains of his mark, except the knowledge that it never existed.
which leaves Zekari. i think, perhaps tie him back into the lawmaker. something she had done directly, which might invite the Guerrrrrilla’s vengeance. a law she passed. was it on the Directors command, or her own deduction? its unclear. whatever it was, it put his ancestor into hot water. the sort of hot water a high blood patron can rescue you from. A noble Indigo blood, perhaps? It was desperation that forced him to join the Recreant’s ill fated guard, and he certainly never enjoyed the position. but were he to leave, what would be left? Jail, culling, or a position in a worse army, that of the Director or Condesce herself. She had a place for telekinetics like him, and he wanted no part. So he played along, followed this would be captains orders, and found himself at the end of the Directors weapon. The wrong end. the Dead end. Forced for no other choice, slain by his only other opportunity. He would have found use in the Directors army, but he would have been equally unfulfilled by his role as the Destroyed became. poor souls. The Desolate, perhaps. ofc it does sorta depend what he did to end up in a situation where his only option was to becoming the Recreants whipping boy. Based purely on Zekari’s character it makes sense for it to have been him trying to help - trying to help someone. Who, specifically? hmm. doing it for the Destroyed could be an interesting idea - an extension of Zekari <> Jun. and also how the Desolate ultimately fails, because the Destroyed ends up in the army with him, ends up seeing him die, and ends up withering away in some back tent for another army. yknow. cause you fucked it. nice going, homie. he basically loses time and time again. perhaps he caused someones death? that could be fun. basically killed a guy to save the Destroyed’s life. but, of course, its a high blood, and on the Lawmakers respect for the hemospectrum, this is a crime of an extreme degree. the punishment? oh, they vary, and the Lawmaker almost salivates at the thought of all that could be wrought upon those who do not heed her words. thats fucked up. holy shit.
so yea. The Desolate kills a high blood. unrelated, just. some guy? some asshole. probably just straight up flattens him. lift, drop, splat, instant warrant for arrest/culling/what have you. so how does he get away? by basically signing away his life to the nearest highblood willing to employ his services, who promises not to work him to the bone. he doesnt have much choice. if he can claim being in the employ of someone, its a substantially lesser crime, or something like that. at that point, its just High Blood Business. all for ol Destroyed over there, who is then promptly recruited himself for his general skills, to the Desolate’s dismay. had he known the fate he was going to give his friend, he’d have let the highblood kill them, and then exacted revenge.
ok. lets say thats all good. thats, in descending order by blood - The Director, the Champion, the Recreant, the Apostate, the Lawmaker, the Desolate, the [a bunch of screams], and the Destroyed.
ok, naming the Guerrilla. it doesnt work with her quirk, purely because i cant think of any good reason to combine the two rs, even though Serren has two rs as well? it doesnt make sense to me. lets find something else. the Fugitive? describing how she spent a nice chunk of her time on the run. it also makes her sound more guilty, which i like (how often you got an innocent fugitive, yknow). i think i like that ok, The Fugitive she is. nice.
ok, thats all of them? now the big one - how does the Director die? she’s nigh fuschia (high enough to enjoy status, NOT high enough to be killed by the Condesce YET). lives long time. she cannot die naturally, unless all these ancestor events are so positively ANCIENT shit. so she has to die somehow. from what? the ideal candidate for bloody murder is the Apostate, since her whole deal is that she was on their side and betrayed them following the culling of the Fugitive and those /remotely/ connected to her. but she cant kill the Director quickly - that interferes with the Destroyed’s slow death in her service. unless she bides her time. which i do kind of dig. but if she bided her time and then slew the Champion in his own hive (or office, i guess), theres still the issue that its..... highly unlikely she could overpowers the Director, just by pure virtue of being a Teal Blood vs a Nigh Fuschia. the raw strength is just off the charts. especially for a desk pushing Teal whose main job in the Director’s service was to pass messages. Errand boy. so it would require EXTREME planning, like beyond cosmic coincidence, to give her to chance to kill the Director. perhaps this is a confrontation that passes wholly into myth - all that is known is that the Director died. whose to say the Apostate didn’t expire in causing this? it is only assumed that she escaped and lived free the rest of her days. Maybe she beat her in a battle of wits. maybe she blew them both up. maybe she tricked the Director into a building and levelled it on top of her. who knows? both ‘died’ that day, one way or another. for the Director lay slain and bloodied by the side of her Champion, and the Apostate was noone to be seen. perhaps the two died together, the Champion to the end fighting to defend his ... yknow. thingo. theres a word. charge? fuck it. He died defending the Director, a round, loyal success. in contrast to his descendant, whose loyalties would skew to the other end of the hemospectrum. nice.
that works.... well enough??? nice.
