No I’m not shy about it actually he SHOULD punch Mike in the face and it’s my deep rooted wish and canon-based prediction that he will
Lucas could randomly stab somebody in s5 and I would think yeah he had his reasons. Don’t know which but i know he has them

Steve knew that one day he wouldn't be able to refuse to play dnd.
Especially since he was now dating a dragons master or whatever it's called. He can't keep up with all the names.
And don't get him wrong Eddie is great and dnd sounds sort of interesting but he's been against playing for so long he doesn't want to give up the act.
But he if was going to give up the act he was going to get something in return.
The kids were all gathered at Steve's house for a movie night.
They had 2 different kinds of movie night, one where they all actually watched movies and the other where the movie was just there for background noise while everyone either talked or worked on something.
Tonight Mike, Will, Lucas, and Dustin were making character sheets for Eddie's new campaign while trying to get Steve to join as well.
"Just play one campaign" Dustin whined for the 20th time that night. And probably the 100th time in his life.
"Are you ever going to let this go?"
"No! You have to play one now that you're dating Eddie. Aren't couples supposed to try out each other's hobbies?" He got him there.
"He's got a point Stevie," Eddie says finally engaging in the conversation after being glued to the TV. Despite the volume being low he was still watching it with intense interest.
"You're right, couples should try each other's hobbies" Steve agreed.
"Uh oh," Robin says without looking up from the puzzle she was going with Nancy, knowing what he was going to say next since he ran his plan through her first.
"I will play a campaign but!" He says before the kids could get too excited, "you all have to play basketball with me"
They all groaned. Except Lucas who was completely fine with this arrangement.
-
It was Saturday and they were all at basketball court in the park. Most of them were wearing their gym clothes.
Except for Lucas and Steve who actually had basketball jerseys.
Max and el were also playing since they wanted to join despite the fact they won't play dnd either.
And who was he to say no to them? The more the merrier.
Robin and Nancy were sitting at the bench in the shade, Robin saying she refuses to play a sport because she's too clumsy and Nancy saying Robin shouldn't have to sit alone. But Steve knows they just want to talk shit about them.
He wasnt going to stop them, he knew it was a lost cause to try to get them to join as well.
The only rule they had before playing was that Steve and Lucas couldn't be on the same team, 'it wouldn't be fair' Dustin said and everyone else agreed. Even Robin and Nancy.
So they ended up being the team captainsin on each team.
Steve's team was Max, Mike, and El while Lucas had Will, Dustin, and Eddie.
And it was going well! Better than Steve thought it would. Especially with how unathletic most of them were.
Steves team was winng, and despite Dustin whinning about how it was because Steve was older and had more experience he hasn't even made all the points.
He did score the first point but El scored the last 2.
It's was 3 to 1. The only point they had was from Lucas. Eddie couldn't throw for shit, Dustin kept dropping the ball, and Will was actually doing pretty well but was kinda being ignored because Lucas and Dustin wouldn't stop arguing.
He can tell eddie was getting annoyed with having to constantly break up their fights.
Their team only needed one more point to win and Mike had the ball.
"Pass it to me!" He yells towards Mike and he does pass it to him. Just way too hard.
Because it goes past his hands and right towardd his face. Smacking him hard in the nose and knocking him over.
He hears everyone gasp as he groans on the ground.
He heard the tapping of people feet on concrete, and on grass, get close to him.
"Holy fuck are you okay?" Despite his eyes being closed he can easily tell that's Eddie's voice.
"Damn Mike why did you throw it so hard" he hears max says. He also hears a light punch but doesn't comment on it this time.
"I didnt mean to!"
"I'm okay" Steve says while getting up, grabbing his nose when he felt something on his lip. Blood, of course.
"That would've been a great throw if I was a little bit farther from you," he says towards Mike as Eddie helps him off the floor and leads him to the bench despite saying he was okay to keep playing.
Everyone gather arounds him as El hands him some of the napkins she keeps in her pocket.
"If this is how you all act everytime someone gets hurt it's going to get extremely annoying as we keep playing" Everyone makes weird faces, except for Robin who was grinning.
And Nancy because Robin definitely told her.
He smiles. "You guys are going to want me to play more than one campaign, so you will all be playing more games of basketball."
While Lucas smiled, everyone else groaned.

Steddie
I’m joining the s3 steddie train :D
Steve was late. He was so late and so dead. Robin was going to kill him— he’d never make it out of Scoops Ahoy alive.
This was his thought process after dropping Will Lucas and Max off at Mikes. This was also his thought process the entirety of the way to Scoops while he shoved his way through the mall.
The moment he entered the small shop Robins eyes locked on him in a glare. Steve barely gave her a second before he was going to the back room to get ready for his shift.
He heard the back room door open behind him.
“You’re—“
“24 minutes late I know,” he said as calmly as he could while trying to relax his breathing.
“Yeah and—“
“And you get an extra 25 minutes for your break, yes Robin I know!”
Steve finally closed his employee cubby and turned to look at Robin. “Look. Im sorry I was so late today but Will, Lucas and Max are assholes when they’re being petty and they needed a ride to Mikes cause all the others were busy! I’ll take closing shift today to if you’re really that mad.”
Robin stared at him angrily from the doorway. “Fine.” She uncrossed her arms. “And yes, you will be taking the closing shift tonight. I have a study date with a friend that I can’t miss.”
“It’s summer vacation?”
“Shut up!”
Steve shrugged when the door closed.
He closed the door to his employee locker with a little more force than necessary. He had a migraine building and the bright, florescent lights of the mall weren’t helping in the slightest.
He walked out and began his shift.
Eddie wanted to enjoy his day off. Preferably by himself. But Gareth and Jeff decided that his personal life was their personal life. So here they were.
He had wanted to spend the day away from the mall, considering that that was where everyone seemed to be nowadays. But the guys were insistent.
So they were walking around. It wasn’t too bad, considering Eddie had gotten himself a new record and tape with his newest paycheck. They were sitting at the fountain when Gareth shouted right in Eddie’s ear:
“HOLY SHIT!”
Eddie just about punched him with how hard he jumped. Jeff spit out his Pepsi all over Eddie.
While Eddie was worrying about getting the sticky drink off of his skin, Gareth continued with; “is that HARRINGTON in Scoops?”
Well. Now he has Eddie’s attention.
Sure enough, just in Eddie’s line of sight, was Steve Harrington in a sailors uniform and a dorky hat.
A dorky hat that was soon snatched up by his current customer, Billy Hargrove.
Jeff clapped him on the shoulder and leaned over him to get a better view. “Is that Hargrove?”
“Yep.” Eddie popped the P.
“It looks like he’s messing with Harrington.”
“Yep.” Another pop on the P.
“And Harrington looks like he’s gonna fucking explode.”
Eddie agreed. Harrington was red in the face and not in the cute blushy-way he usually gets (don’t ask why Eddie knows that). He was talking back to Hargrove, probably something bitchy and sarcastic in typical Harrington-fashion based on the way Hargrove seemed to recoil for a moment before jumping back.
“Should we do something?” Gareth asked skeptically. Jeff shrugged where he was pressed against Eddie’s back.
“I’m going in.” Eddie stood and nearly knocked Jeff down in the process.
“Hang on—“
“Nope! Wish me luck, boys!” Eddie yelled over his shoulder while he dashed over. He heard them both get up and follow him.
Steve wanted to cry.
His head hurt so fucking bad and his back was killing him and he had ran into a shelf earlier and had a killer bruise on his arm and leg from it and everything was too fucking much.
Then, in all his asshole and dick glory, in came Billy Hargrove.
At this point, Steve would rather take another plate to the head then have to deal with his annoyingly aggravating voice. Hargrove came in, probably expecting Robin to be there, but got Steve instead. And honestly Steve would rather deal with him then leave Robin with him.
So he’s been enduring it, giving his own comments and comebacks but overall hating his life and just wanting to curl up and die.
Then his savior showed up. In all his black leather and chains, Eddie fucking Munson.
Hallelujah.
Hargrove seemed to back down the moment Munson showed up. Which wasn’t too strange considering that Munson supplied over half of Hawkins’ weed supply. Including Steve’s own for a while. He hasn’t bought in a while cause of the brat brigade.
But not the point.
Hargrove nodded to Munson. “Munson.”
Wow. Real cool, Billy. Steve held back a snicker.
“Heeyyy, Hargrove!” Munson cheerily greeted. But there was something about his smile that was off, to Steve. It seemed tighter than usual, his eyes not crinkling with the motion like normal. Don’t ask why Steve knows this.
Munson’s eyes seemed darker, too. Like he was angry. Maybe Hargrove didn’t pay him? Steve couldn’t bother to care with how bad his head started to pound.
He shouldn’t be at work with this migraine. He knows that. His doctor’s told him this multiple times. But he owes it to Robin for being late so much and he needs to prove to his dad that he can take care of himself.
“So what brings you here, Billy?” Munson asks casually, stepping farther into the shop. Steve seems to finally be forgotten about, and he places his head down on the counter. The cooled surface definitely helps with the spinning room.
He hears Hargrove say something back, but he isn’t paying attention anymore. His eyes are stating to go blurry and he really needs to sit down. But then Munson says something that catches his attention:
“Just leave Harrington alone, man. Last I checked he did nothing to you.”
What the hell? Steve wished he could lift his head and see what Munson was doing. What he looked like when he said that. If he looked as mean as he sounded.
Steve only lifts his head a few moments later when he feels a hand on his back. He shoots up quicker than he intends, and nearly falls back down if not for the hands still holding him up.
“Shit,” he grumbles quietly to himself, whining even quieter at the sudden rush of pain and the black dots in his vision.
“Easy there, your highness.” Munson.
Steve blinks slowly, letting Munson set him down in a booth. He doesn’t remember walking over but he’ll take it. He puts his head back down and intertwines his fingers behind his head. He groans quietly again, the pounding slowly receding.
“Hey man, is there something we could do? Do you need anything?” He heard Munson ask.
We? Steve wants to ask, but finds himself not caring. “Water, and my bag from the back please,” he rasps out. Talking makes the pounding worse.
He hears someone rush off to the back and a moment later a hands on his back again and is helping him sit up.
“Here ya go sweetheart.” Munson slides the glass of water and bag over to him.
Steve silently reaches into his bag and pulls out his small “to-go” med-kit. He carries it around mainly for the kids. Mike tends to be clumsier than he comes off as and Max is always trying out some new skateboarding tricks. From inside the kit he pulls out a pill bottle and swallows 2 with the water and goes for another 2 before a hand stops him.
“I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to take more than 2.” This voice is new but familiar. Steve squints past the blurriness and makes out someone he recognizes from school; Gareth Emerson.
“4,” Steve manages past the lump in his throat. Munson, Emerson, and someone else Steve doesn’t quite know look at him. Munson continues to hold Steve’s hand on the table, rubbing his thumb over his knuckles. It weirdly intimate but the comfort is very welcome.
“4 what?” The other guy asks.
“4 pills. I usually take 4.”
Munson and Emerson both wince. The third guy looks at him like he’s insane. Steve finally recognizes him as Jeff,… something. He actually never got his last name.
“Dude— are you trying to overdose!?”
Steve winced at the sudden loudness, whining quietly. Munson shushed Jeff and Steve heard him rush out an apology.
The bell over the door dinged at that moment, and Steve found himself face to face with Max, Mike, Will, Lucas, and— for some reason— Jonathan.
“Uh— hi?” Steve attempted for a greeting.
“‘Hi!?’” Mike yelled. “Hi yourself man! We called your walkie at least 4 times!! What the hell?”
“Are you ok? Why didn’t you answer?” Will asked in a much quieter tone.
Lucas and Max wasted no time before slotting themselves in the booth with Steve. Munson remained across from Steve, and Emerson and Jeff now hovered farther away, but Lucas slid right in next to Munson and Max next to Steve.
“What the fuck, Harrington?” Max demanded. But she clung to his shirt tightly.
“Language, Mayfield,” he reprimanded quietly.
Mike paused where he stood. “Why are you talking so quietly? Shit— do you have a migraine?”
Suddenly 4 pairs of little eyes were gazing at him with unmasked concern. Holy shit was this overwhelming.
“Guys—“
“Why didn’t you say that, Steve?” Lucas asked.
“Are you ok? How long has it been going on for? Asked Will.
“Why are even here if you’re not able to function properly?” Mike reprimanded in his own caring-ness.
Max clutched to him tighter. “Why aren’t you at home? You could’ve called in sick or something!”
“Shhh!” Mike shushed her.
“Don’t shush me—“
“Shut up!” He whisper shouted. “You have to be quiet and try to control your temperature while resting in a dark, quiet room to try and help with migraines. Pain killers help to but no more than 3.”
Everyone stared at him. He went a little pink under the sudden attention.
“Nancy gets migraines a lot from reading in the dark.”
Jonathan came over right then. Steve was suddenly overwhelmed by all the people surrounding him.
“Uhm—“
“Hey,” Munson called. Steve forgot about him for a good moment. “This is cute and all, but maybe we should not surround him? Poor boy looks like he’s gonna cry.”
Everyone turned to look at him. Tears had— in fact— sprung to his eyes.
“Sorry!” All the kids rushed out quietly at the same time. Max climbed out of the booth and Munson and Jonathan both assisted with helping Steve to the break room. Jeff and Emerson stayed with the kids, but Mike came with them since he seemed to know what he was doing better than the 3 of them.
On their way back to the room though, Steve’s legs nearly gave out from under him. Shit. It’s one of those days. Munson just barely managed to catch him under the armpits while Jonathan got him by the waist.
“Woah there, sweetheart.” Munson grunted.
“Careful, Steve,” Jonathan said quietly.
“Sorry. Spinning.” Steve exhaled shakily.
Mike came rushing back after realized they weren’t with him. “Damn. Spinning? Are you able to walk? Or are they gonna have to carry you?”
Jonathan looked up at the mention of having to carry Steve. “Yeah— I’m not able to carry him. I am so not strong enough for that.” He had the decency to look apologetic.
Munson chuckled quietly and the sound reverberated through his chest where Steve’s head was. It was soothing.
“Don’t worry Big Byers. I’ve got him no problem.”
Steve was given no warning before he was being picked up in a bridal carry. He winced sharply and laid his head on Munson’s shoulder. Jonathan whistled lowly from somewhere beside them and Steve blindly kicked his leg in his direction, scoring in kicking him in the arm. Jonathan snickered.
When Munson chased off Hargrove he didn’t expect for Harrington to all but collapse in on himself and try to fucking overdose on like 5 pain killers. He also hadn’t expected to be bombarded by 4 kids and 1 Jonathan Byers. Least of all did he expect to be carrying Harrington bridal style to the break room of Scoops Ahoy.
Somewhere behind him, Gareth turned the sign on the door to closed. Eddie silently thanked him.
The kid— who he vaguely remembers as Nancy Wheeler’s younger brother— opens the door and startles a half asleep Robin Buckley.
“Hello,” Jonathan throws her way before pulling a chair out for Eddie to sit on.
“Uh— hi? What the hell—“
Eddie takes the seat with Harrington in his lap. Robin looks dumbfounded.
“Migraine,” Jonathan helpfully supplies.
“Really, really bad migraine. Vertigo included. Full package tonight, folks.” Mike adds.
“Ok— um, is he ok? He doesn’t look ok. If it was so bad why didn’t he just call in sick?”
“That’s a good question,” Mike retorts quietly while rooting around in a freezer.
“What are you looking for”, Robin asks.
“Ice pack. The dumbass has everything in that first aid kit of his except a damn ice pack.”
“Language,” Harrington reprimanded quietly from where his cheek was against Eddie’s chest. Eddie chuckled quietly when Mike retorted with a half-assed “sorry”.
Eddie couldn’t help but admire the now sleeping Harrington in his lap. He bent in half like a shrimp, his knees just about to his chest, and his hands gripping tightly onto Eddie’s still-Pepsi-soaked t-shirt. But he looked so at peace while asleep. Like he hadn’t just had the worst migraine Eddie’s ever seen and wasn’t just about to pass out on his feet. Eddie smiled.
Mike comes over silently, managing to sneak up on Eddie and make him jump slightly and causing Harrington to whine. He’d been whining a lot today. And under “different circumstances” Eddie would’ve found it hot as fuck.
“Sorry,” Mike whispered. He seemed to be able mellow out a lot when he actually tried. He seemed like such an asshole out at the booth but now he seems quieter. These kids really cared about Harrington, huh?
“Here.” Jonathan helped him out and gently picked up Harrington’s head. Eddie caught Harrington actually kind of leaning into his touch. A strange but endearing friendship. Mike placed the ice pack— now wrapped in a cloth— on Eddie’s chest where Harrington’s head lays.
Harrington lays back down and is out like a light soon enough.
Eddie zoned out until there’s a very, very soft knock on the door. When he looks up, Jonathan is letting the other 3 kids in while Jeff and Gareth stand in the doorway.
“Is he ok?” Asks Jonathan’s little brother.
Jonathan nods and pats his head. “He’s ok, Will.”
The redhead walks over and takes a silent seat next to Eddie so she’s next to Harrington. She takes Harrington’s hand in hers and proceeds to just sit there and hold it.
“He’s ok, Max. Just a migraine,” the third kid, Lucas he thinks, reassures with a hand on Max’s shoulder.
“That’s what he said before. And then he was in the hospital.”
Woah, what?
“Hm?” Lucas looks at him.
Oh. He said that aloud.
“Wait what?” Robin asked quietly.
Jonathan’s whistled lowly. It seems to be a bit of a tic for him. “Yeah uh— funny story. Hargrove broke a plate over Steve’s head last year and nobody realized how bad it actually was until he passed out after claiming it was only a migraine.”
“He ended up in the hospital for like 2 weeks,” added Lucas.
“He needed several stitches on the side of his head.” Max unhappily supplied. Lucas squeezed her shoulder.
“It was a stage 4 concussion,” muttered Will and Mike put his head on his shoulder.
Eddie caught Gareth and Jeff’s eyes across the break room. Huh.
The Will kid came up to Eddie suddenly. “Thank you. For uh— helping with Steve. It means a lot to us. He means a lot to us.”
Mike, Max, and Lucas all nodded.
“Hang on,” Lucas piped up. “Who are you?”
So uh— set myself up for a part 2 there :’D

The Bet
Summary: Dustin cannot believe Eddie “The Freak” Munson has a girlfriend (as pretty as Galadriel, no less), and the boys seem to think the same. Max and Robin disagree, arguing that Eddie is, in fact, a catch. They decide to settle things once and for all through a bet.
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Reader
Word count: 4,9k
Warnings: cursing
Notes: I'm absolutely in love with this one, it's honestly my pride and joy (at least so far). The idea for this one came to me during an Invertebrates class (should I have be paying more attention to the class? probably, but I did end up doing well overall in that subject, so). If you spot any mistakes, please feel free to warn me and I'll correct it right away, and feedback is always welcome and appreciated. I hope you truly enjoy this story.
This is part of a series, but most parts can be read as standalones (so far they are published in cronological order, but this will change).
Reader is female, but no physical descriptions provided (other than being gorgeous, that is!)
Next part | Masterlist | Read on AO3

“I call bullshit.”
“Dustin!” El exclaimed.
“There’s no fucking way you have a girlfriend!”
“Dustin.” El gritted her teeth “Don’t be mean.”
“What? I’m just saying” Dustin explained, completely unphased “that out of all the people sitting on this table, he is the least likely to have a girlfriend.”
“The same has been said about you and yet…” Max smirked in that sardonic way of hers, making the others laugh.
“Do not bring Suzie-poo into this!” the boy rolled his eyes, but his shoulders tensed in embarrassment.
Lunch time at Hawkins High was never a quiet affair. More often than not someone, most likely someone from their usual table (even more often than not that someone was Eddie), would be doing something rambunctious that would attract the attention of every other student in the cafeteria. They had all learned to ignore it and fully embraced their nerd/outcast situation, almost always wearing their Hellfire Club t-shirts. Today, Dustin was the one drawing attention to them, fervorously denying what he had just been told.
“Come on, people.” he opened his arms, gesturing around the table “Let’s face it. Other than Mike, Lucas and I, who already have girlfriends, the most probable person here to get a girl would definitely be Robin.”
“Ouch, Henderson,” Steve punched the boy next to him on the shoulder, with a little more force than necessary “uncalled for. And besides, all she does all day is mope about Vickie, without ever making a move.”
“Uh, actually” Robin piped up “I just asked Vickie out, we’re gonna watch Letter to Brezhnev this weekend.”
Steve groaned, while Dustin’s face conveyed something akin to ‘I told ya’.
“Actually, Eddie, I’ve been meaning to ask, if this whole thing between me and Vickie does work out, can I bring her to one of our sessions?”
“Be my guest.” the man, who was currently being talked about as if he wasn’t even there, answered, his smile never weavering.
“Guys, we’re losing focus here.” Dustin clapped his hands “Let’s get back to the matter at hand: Eddie, your so called girlfriend.”
“What about her?”
“Tell us more about her.”
Eddie’s smile grew impossibly bigger.
“She’s everything my humble heart could ever ask for.”
“Humble, yeah, right.” Steve scoffed, earning him a slap on the back of the head from Robin.
“She is immeasurably intelligent, infinitely kind and would never hesitate to help those in need. Not to mention, she is the most beautiful creature to have ever walked this Earth.”
“How beautiful are we talking?” Lucas asked.
“Galadriel level of beauty.”
A bunch of ‘wow’s and even an impressed whistle, courtesy of Robin herself, sounded from the group.
“What does that even mean?” asked Steve. Dustin narrowed his eyes at the older boy and didn’t even bother with an answer, before addressing his DM again.
"Bullshit! What’s her name?”
Eddie’s once dreamy smile turned mischievous.
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
Dustin scoffed.
“There is our answer. You are making her up.”
“No, I’m not.” Eddie said, a strange calmness in his voice.
“Yes, you are.”
“Why would I make her up?”
“I dunno, you are our DM, you literally come up with the most creative stories as a hobby, which, might I add, might as well be your side job at this point!”
“Why have you never introduced her to us?” Eleven asked, only slightly offended that her new friend hadn’t deemed them worthy of knowing the inner mechanisms of his private life.
Some people shook their heads in agreement.
“She works at the time of our campaigns.”
“How convenient.” Lucas exclaimed.
“If you really want to meet her so badly I’ll bring her around some day.” Eddie shrugged.
"How about this?” Dustin lowered his voice conspiratorially “10 bucks she’s made up and you’re bullshitting all of us.”
“Dustin!” Max hissed.
“I’m in.” Lucas said.
“Lucas!”
“Guys, don’t you think this is a little… cruel? Making a bet at someone’s expense?” El hesitantly pointed out.
Everyone looked in Eddie’s direction at the head of the table, whose face didn’t give anything away.
“Nah.” all the boys, excluding Will and surprisingly including Eddie, said.
“I’m with Dustin.” Mike said, to which El glared at him “What? Easiest money I’ll ever make in my life.”
“Make it 20 that not only she’s real, but she’s also gorgeous.” Robin chimed in.
“Thank you Buckley.” Eddie bowed his head at her.
“Seriously?” Steve almost shouted.
“What, Eddie is a pretty nice guy. If I wasn’t into…” she trailed off, glaring at Steve next to her as he mouthed the word ‘boobies’ “other things,” she emphasized “I’d definitely date him.”
“You are so on, Rob.” Steve indeed shouted this time “You’re going down.”
“El?” Mike asked his girlfriend.
“I don’t know. I’m not really comfortable doing this.”
“Me neither.” Will agreed.
“I’m with Robin on this one.” it was Max's turn to say.
“Alright!” Eddie grabbed a pencil and a rumpled sheet of paper (math’s homework, they noted) “It’s two against four: Buckley and Mayfield vs Harrington, Henderson, Sinclair and Wheeler. Should I mark 20 bucks for everyone?”
The boys, who originally opened the bet at $10 each, all agreed.
“So that makes the final prize a total of… $120.” he eyed all the people on the table with a mysterious grin, his voice morphing into the one he used while performing as Dungeon Master during their campaigns “Do you, my mighty Fellowship, accept this challenge?”
Everyone looked at Dustin, the one who had come up with all that mess, to seal their next step. He stood up and extended his hand for Eddie to shake.
“Hell yeah.”
Tumblr media
“I’m telling you, there is absolutely no way in this world, and in the Upside Down, that Eddie is telling the truth.”
Dustin was leading the group around downtown Hawkins on their way to the movie theater for a showing of Top Gun.
“Dustin, man, don’t you think this is going a little too far?” Will asked, a worried look crossing his features.
“I mean, why does he feel the need to lie to us like that?” Lucas interrupted “Not having a girlfriend is not something to be ashamed of.”
“Tell that to Steve.” Dustin smirked, high fiving his buddies, to which El, Will and Max rolled their eyes.
“Maybe because he isn’t lying?” Max said, crossing her arms, annoyed “Has that ever crossed your minds? And that maybe he hasn’t introduced her because you are simply too immature to handle it?”
Mike, Lucas and especially Dustin had the decency to look sheepish for a fraction of a second before diving right back on their shenanigans.
“I mean who in their right minds would date Eddie of all people?” Dustin changed the subject, making Max wave her arms incredulously, giving up.
“Why is it so hard to believe someone might be interested in Eddie?” El asked, half trying to defend her friend and half genuinely curious.
“Well, for one he’s an outcast.” Lucas said.
“So are we all.” Max retorted.
“He’s a freak with a very peculiar set of interests.” Mike gave his input.
“That doesn’t really mean anything, we all enjoy D&D and rock music as well.”
“And he’s on his way to have to do the senior year for the fourth time.” Dustin finished.
“Oh, come on, give the guy a break!” Max snapped “You know what he went through this year, it kinda makes sense that school wasn't his top priority.”
El nodded, agreeing.
“Besides” she said, a tilt to her head indicating she actually meant it “Eddie is a really nice guy and anyone would be lucky to date him.”
“Would you?”
“Would I what?”
“Date Eddie.” Mike told her “Would either of you date Eddie given the chance.”
Eleven and Max shared a look, not even hesitating before they answered.
“Yes.”
“Absolutely.”
“What?!” the boys asked in disbelief.
“He’s a really nice guy!” Max said, linking arms with El.
“He’s really funny.” El complemented, adding a skip to their step.
“And he’s pretty good looking.”
“His hair is cool.”
“And have you seen his tattoos?”
“He’s bitchin’.” El finished, smiling.
Mike and Lucas looked at each other, only slightly worried, while Dustin scoffed, shaking his head in disappointment.
Arriving at the theater, they went to buy the tickets.
“Okay, let’s entertain this crazy idea for a second and say she is real.” Dustin simply couldn’t let the subject go “What do you guys think she’s like?”
“Like him to some degree, otherwise they wouldn’t be together.” Lucas rushed in “They have to have a lot in common.”
After a moment of silence Mike spoke up.
“I could see Eden dating him.”
“Eden?” Dustin asked, perplexed “Suzie’s older sister? When did you- you know what? I don’t even wanna know.”
“But she’s dating Argyle now.” Will pointed out.
“True.”
They finally arrived at the snack booth, a familiar face behind the counter that they knew pretty well.
“Hey, look who it is! My favorite person in the whole world!” Dustin called your name very enthusiastically, a gigantic, very dramatic smile plastered on his face while he leaned his forearm over the counter “Whats up?”
“Flattery will get you nowhere, Henderson.” you rolled your eyes, already used to the boy’s behavior.
“But why?” he whined, head thrown back dramatically “You always give El an extra piece of candy every single time, how come she’s your favorite?”
“Whaaat? I do no such thing.” you retorted, sending a conspiratory wink in El's way “Even suggesting that is an offense to my honor.”
“Ugh, I’m so sorry, miss ‘do-no-wrong.”
You giggled. No matter how much it seemed to annoy you, you absolutely loved those kids and would do everything for them.
“Same as always?”
“You know us too well.” Mike answered.
While you went about preparing the kids’ snacks, they (read Dustin, Mike and Lucas) quickly created a game out of people watching, much to the annoyance of the rest of the group.
“What about her?” Lucas pointed out a girl, plain clothes and nothing truly remarkable about her appearance.
“Nah, they don’t seem like they really match.” Mike countered back before pointing to a stuck up looking girl who seemed annoyed to just exist “How about that one?”
The other boys looked the girl up and down before shaking their heads.
Dustin perked up when his eyes landed on someone coming out of a showing of Poltergeist II.
“What about her?!” he pointed out a woman in darker clothes, excitement lacing his voice “She seems like she would be perfect for him. Look, she even likes horror films!”
Max rolled her eyes so hard they almost popped out of the sockets.
“If he was interested in older women he would be drooling over Mike’s mom.” the corner of her lips lifted in a tiny smirk “How did you describe her? ‘Smoking hot like chicken wings’?”
Mike’s face turned red as he turned to face Dustin.
“What did you say about my mom?!” his next move would have surely resulted in an immeasurable amount of pain for Dustin (and probably a trip to the hospital) had you not intervened at that very moment.
“Alright! Here you go.” you started putting the snacks over the counter “Three large popcorns, one with extra butter, two large sodas, two medium sodas,” you then proceeded to hand the items one by one “Blue Raspberry Airheads for Will, Cry Baby Tears for Max, Gummi Bears for Lucas, Licorice Rockies for Dustin, Watermelon and Cherry Nerds for Mike and last, but not least, a packet of Spree for El.”
As you were sliding the packet towards El, the girl noted that you had given her a Caramello bar, hidden under the other candy. That had been something you had been doing ever since she had first stopped by the theater you work at; she had been mesmerized at the assortment of sweets on display and simply could not choose one. You had overheard her telling her boyfriend that she had never tried any of those, and you had made it your life’s mission to give her as much candy as you could without getting busted by your boss just so she could figure out her favorite kind. So far, nothing had beaten Spree. She smiled at you, grateful for what you’ve been doing for her.
“Hey!” Dustin also seemed to have noticed the interaction “I saw that!”
You and El looked at each other, suppressing a smile.
“Saw what?” Eleven asked, a deadpan look on her face that only made Dustin more exasperated.
After paying and balancing all their food, the kids started heading towards the movie rooms. As they were walking away you called after them.
“Good luck trying to defeat Lareth the Beautiful!” you waved and then added under your breath so they could not hear from the distance “You’re gonna need it.”
“Thanks!” they all responded in unison, not giving it a second though.
After a moment of playful banter, Eleven decided to address something that had been on her mind since they got to the movie theater.
“What about her?”
The others shot her a confused look.
“What about who?” Will asked.
She nodded her head back at the counter where you were wiping out fallen kernels and elaborated, though it ended up sounding more like a question.
“As Eddie’s girlfriend?”
The boys who were in on the bet looked at each other before bursting out in hysterical laughter.
“Her?!” Lucas sputtered out “Dating Eddie ‘The Freak’ Munson?! Seriously El?”
“Little Miss Perfect, Goodie-Two-Shoes over there?” Dustin added “Who works at the nursing home during the week and volunteers at the animal shelter every other weekend?!”
“There is no way!” Mike doubled over.
“Never in a million years!”
“Absolutely not!”
El looked towards Will and Max for support, who only shrugged, as if having given up discussing the subject. But she didn’t miss the quiet look of agreement she saw crossing their faces.
Tumblr media
On the other side of town, a similar conversation would take place only a few hours later.
“I’m telling you, Rob” Steve said, placing a recently returned copy of The Empire Strikes Back in its respective place on the shelf “if I can’t keep a girl interested in me for more than a week, there’s no way Munson has a girlfriend!”
Robin hummed, rearranging the collection of Planet of the Apes in the correct order.
“That’s not saying much, you know that, right?” she snickered.
He rolled his eyes at what she was implying.
“Let the guy be, Steve.” she moved on to the next row “If he says he has a girlfriend, then he has a girlfriend. I don’t know why it’s so hard to believe that.”
“We go to the same school as him, right? I don’t know if you noticed but girls aren’t exactly throwing themselves at him.”
“I don’t know if you noticed, dingus, but he’s almost three years older than us. He’s supposed to have graduated by now. I’m pretty sure his girlfriend was in his original class or something.”
“But we were freshmen when he was a junior!” he threw his arms up “I’m pretty sure we would have noticed if he started getting cozy with someone!”
“Steve,” the girl gave him a sad, almost resentful smile “you didn’t even notice me before we started working together last year. You only had eyes for Nancy.”
Steve was quiet, for he knew she was right.
“That and you let those two dickheads Tommy and Carol infiltrate your mind and hypnotize you into becoming a jock!” she tried lighting up the mood, knowing she had hit a sensitive spot for him, which seemed to work as he chuckled.
Their bonding was interrupted by the sound of the little bell over the door, signaling a new client had just come in. Robin started the whole customer service speech while walking slowly towards the counter.
“Hi, welcome to Family Video, how may we help you?” she stopped short once she realized it was you “Hi! Oh my god, I haven’t seen you in a while, how are you?”
“Hey, Robin! I’ve been good, a little busy but what’s new?” both of you giggled, Robin with a bit more flare than necessary.
Steve watched the interaction with a strange kind of fascination.
“What can I get for you today?”
“Let’s see…” you tapped your chin, deep in thought before asking with a hopeful tone “Is Lady and The Tramp available?”
“I got it!” Steve typed it down on the computer “Lucky for you, m’lady, it is.”
Robin stared at him as if he had grown a second head while he retrieved the tape.
“Can I get a second one? I really wanted to watch The Three Caballeros, but I think it’s kind of mandatory to watch Saludos Amigos first.”
The girl checked in and sure enough, it was available. While she checked you out, Steve was busy putting your tapes in a bag.
“Make sure to drop by more often.” Robin said “It’s been so long, we have to catch up eventually!”
“Yeah, come hang out with us sometime!” Steve added, immediately wincing at his own lack of subtleness.
“Will do.” you waved at them and walked out of the store.
Robin slowly turned towards her friend.
“What was that?”
“I don’t know! I kind of panicked!” he rubbed a hand over his face “Who was that anyway?”
“Duh,” Robin stated your name “only the smartest, sweetest and most beautiful girl in school in forever? Straight A’s, always super nice to everyone, incredibly well dressed, kind of a nerd, but no one gave her too much of a hard time?”
Steve continued to stare blankly at her. She sighed, giving up.
“I had the biggest crush on her in sophomore year while she tutored me in math, but she left the following year and I almost flunked without her help.”
Steve shrugged, not really remembering you at all.
“Now that I come to think of it, she used to hang out with Eddie quite a lot back then.”
“No!” he stared at the door you had recently left through “Do you think…?”
“I don’t know!” she shrugged, a seemingly victorious smile spreading across her face “Maybe?”
They stood in silence for a second.
“There is no way a girl as sweet and as hot as her would be interested in Munson of all people!”
“Come on, Steve, that’s so mean!”
Tumblr media
Almost a month had passed since that fateful lunch break. Lucas and Mike eventually settled down and forgot about the whole ordeal, but Steve and, especially, Dustin were relentless. Everyday they would bring up the subject of Eddie’s girl, to the point where the other members of Hellfire Club were starting to get annoyed.
“So, Eddie,” Dustin started accusingly, “where is that imaginary girlfriend of yours today?”
Everyone groaned.
“How many times do I have to tell you this?” Eddie rolled his eyes and rubbed both hands down his cheeks “She’s working!”
“At night? In the middle of the week?” Steve added, suspicion is his voice.
“She’s fresh off training so she gets the worst shifts.” Eddie explained, getting kind of tired of the matter.
“Hey, Steve?”
“Yeah, Henderson?”
“You know what that sounds to me?”
“What?”
“A bullshit excuse!” Dustin shouted, pointing his finger in Eddie’s face.
“Uhm excuse me.” a voice sounded from the end of the table “If you two old ladies have finished your daily 3 pm gossip over the window, can we go back to the game? How are we supposed to defeat Lareth if all you do is bicker all day long?!” Erica, who occasionally joined the party if she didn’t have too much homework, piped up, annoyed.
Dustin mumbled, clearly not done talking about it, when an idea struck him all of a sudden, making him punch the table, rattling all of the metal figurines.
“What the fuck was that for, Dustin?!” Max asked, startled, a look of angered surprise on her face that matched that of almost everyone there.
“S-sorry.” he answered, only slightly embarrassed “I-I’m just- excited to maybe finally defeat Lareth?”
He winced, not sounding the least bit convincing even to himself, but the others seemed to have bought it for now.
After the game, in which they hadn’t, in fact, managed to defeat Lareth the Beautiful and frankly almost got all killed trying to do so, Dustin pulled Erica aside, out of earshot from the others, especially Eddie.
“What do you want?” she hissed.
“I need a favor.”
“What makes you think I’d help you?” she crossed her arms petulantly.
“Please?”
She sighed and nodded for him to go on.
“I need you to spy on Eddie for me.”
“Uh, why?”
“We have a bet. He says he has a girlfriend, I think it’s bullshit. Steve, Mike and Lucas agree with me, while Robin and Max, the fools, think this girl is actually real.”
“And what do you need me for?”
“Follow him around, I don’t know. He would never suspect, you’re not part of the bet. Just try and prove that he’s actually lying to all of us”
She thought for a long moment.
“What’s in it for me?”
“What?” he squeaked.
“What’s in it for me?” she repeated with a smug expression “What do I get out of helping you?”
Dustin sighed.
“You can keep my share.”
Erica’s eyes widened and her jaw dropped open.
“Honestly? At this point I just want to prove I’m right. Join in, make the total amount larger and you can keep both yours and my share of it.”
She extended a hand for him to shake.
“It’s a pleasure doing business with you.” and she skipped away to catch up with Lucas.
Tumblr media
Dustin hadn’t heard from Erica since their conversation and his faith in her was beginning to waver. A couple more weeks went by before the girl finally joined the Club once more.
“Eddie.” was the first thing she said the minute she sat down in front of the board game “I heard there is a bet of sorts going around.”
“Yes there is, Sinclair the Second.” the man answered and, having a feeling where the conversation was going, grabbed the paper he previously wrote all the names (and it looked somehow even more crumpled than before).
“I’d like to join in.” she said, a large grin on her face.
“It’s $20 per person-” Eddie started explaining before she cut him off.
“Actually I’d like to add 30 bucks.” she said decisively.
Most people around the table looked at each other, impressed and apprehensive at the same time. Dustin on the other hand, nodded victoriously towards his buddies.
“Alright, I have to admit you’re bold, Sinclair the Second.” Eddie did the math “So that increases the final prize to $150. Which side are you joining?”
Erica looked towards Dustin, who discreetly nodded at her.
“I think she’s real.”
Dustin’s jaw dropped.
“Wh-aat?!” his voice cracked from surprise.
“I just don’t see why Eddie would lie, that’s all.” she shrugged nonchalantly.
Dustin shot her a murderous look while Eddie scribbled down her name alongside Max and Robin’s.
“That sure is a good thing. Because she was just talking about requesting to change shifts with a coworker who’s said something about wanting to take more care of his cat during the day.” Eddie finished writing with a flurish “So you might get to meet her pretty soon.”
“Yeah, right.” Lucas snickered, which prompted an elbow to his ribs from Max.
The game proceeded without much hitch after that. After the fiasco that was trying to defeat Lareth the Beautiful the last time everyone was a little apprehensive in trying to take him out again, that was, if they could even find where he lived. But, in a move of sheer luck, Eleven managed to figure out his hideout after scoring 17 while searching an abandoned moathouse. Now all they had to do was attack.
“But I must warn you, my fellow adventurers,” Eddie spoke, his low voice smooth and mysterious while his eyes roamed the face of everyone in the room “every action has consequences. Think through before you strike, for you might not come out of this alive.”
El, who had been feeling brave after a succession of favorably high rolls (which may or may not have had something to do with her powers when she felt she was going to score too low, but you’d never get that out of her as long as she lived), decided to speak up.
“I say we go for it.” everyone stared at her wide eyed “What? We had a lot of time to prepare, everyone has their health full and all their best weapons… we already lost once, what’s the worst that could happen?”
“She’s right.” Lucas agreed, grabbing the dice “Who wants to start?”
“I will.” Steve decided “I’m the weakest of us all, that way if something happens to me you still have a chance to escape and get stronger.”
“No, Steve.” Robin argued.
“No one gets left behind.” Max concluded “I’ll go first.”
“No, I will.” Mike tried ripping the dice out of Max’s hands.
“Come on, let me go first.” El tried to speak, but suddenly the metal doors squaked open, silencing everyone in the room.
Shyly, someone poked their head inside.
“Hey!” you spoke from your place by the door “I hope I’m not too late?”
Eddie practically jumped out of his throne.
“Sweetheart!” he boomed, opening his arms “You are just in time! They are just about to face Lareth the Beautiful.”
“Again?” you asked, fully stepping inside the room.
“For good this time.” he answered with a mirthful smirk. “What are you doing here?”
“Mrs. Johnson let me off earlier from the nursing home. I managed to swap shifts with Mateo, so now I can come to your campaigns!”
Walking closer to the table, everyone gawked at your sudden appearance. You stopped beside the DM’s throne, but Eddie was quick to pull you sideways into his lap, where you landed giggling like a maniac. Turning your head over your shoulder, you pressed a light peck on his lips.
“No way…” Lucas gaped, shaking his head.
“Yes way.” Max retorted, nodding mesmerized.
“Hah!” Robin slapped both her hands on the table, pointing a finger at Steve in front of her.
Confused, you stared at Eddie, whose smile has never looked more smug.
“What is going on?”
“It is you?!” Dustin stood up so quickly his chair scraped on the floor before tumbling backwards onto the floor.
“Is what me?”
“You’re his girlfriend?” Steve started in awe, feeling a tiny pang of hurt on his chest.
“Uh, yeah.” you nodded, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“How?” Mike all but shouted, Eleven smiling triumphantly at his side.
You and Eddie shared a look.
“You know, Wheeler,” Eddie started, smirking “when two people love each other-”
His speech was interrupted by a chorus of repeated ‘woah’s, Steve rushing to cover Erica’s years, Robin doing the same for El, all the while you chuckled at your boyfriend’s antics .
“There are children here, man.” Steve hissed.
“No, I mean it.” Dustin shook his head in disbelief “Why are you dating him ?”
“I told you would never believe me.” Eddie explained.
Your laughter turned into a dreamy smile.
“Eddie is such a sweetheart. He’s charming, he makes me laugh. And I know I can always count on him no matter what. I know he’ll always be there for me.” you beamed softly at him, before turning back to the party, a playful grin on your face “And it doesn’t hurt that he’s incredibly attractive.”
Dustin made a gagging noise while Eddie playfully flicked his hair over his shoulder.
“I mean, who could resist my witful charms, Henderson?”
Erica turned towards her brother, Dustin, Mike and Steve, a proud look on her face.
“Pay up, losers.” she made a come hither motion with her hand “I believe the four of you owe us $50 for each of us.”
She high-fived Robin and Max.
Dustin stared at her, a look of betrayal taking over his features.
“You agreed you’d help me.” he accused.
“No” she said matter-of-factly “I agreed to spy on Eddie for you. And I did.”
Eddie let out a fake gasp, holding an offended hand over his heart.
“You asked Sinclair the Second to spy on me?!”
Dustin held a hand up.
“That’s besides the point.” he turned back to Erica “What happened?”
“I spied on him, just like you asked. And what I found was the both of them” she nodded her head in your direction, where you were still draped over your boyfriend’s legs “being all lovey-dovey with one another. Y’all are just too dumb to see it.”
Dustin shook his head as if he still couldn’t believe it.
“Now that we’ve gotten this out of the way” Eddie’s voice suddenly shifted to the one he used as Dungeon Master “are you ready to take on Lareth the Beautiful once and for all?”
Everyone around the table shouted words of agreement and encouragement, including you. Dustin quickly grabbed the dice, ready to go first. He raised his arms, hands cupped around the dice, and started shaking them. Every member of the club, and now you, stared at him in anticipation, before he hesitated.
“Seriously, though, what do you see in him?”
“Dustin!”

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 (Here)
——————————————
"Oh, Maxie.." Steve breathed, pained, as his eyes landed on the prone teen.
"Steve! You should be resting." El said, not getting up from her spot at Max's bedside. Lucas was on her other side, and they were both holding Max's hands.
"Ellie," Steve said on a sigh. Robin wheeled him over to her, and he took her unoccupied hand. "I'm tired of resting. I needed to see my girls. How have you been, kiddo?"
Ellie's head dropped to his shoulder, and she squeezed his hand, practically sagging against him. "Tired. I missed you. I was not happy when I found out you were hurt. Again."
He winced, apologizing, and looked at Lucas. "Lu." He looked up from Max's hand, and Steve could see the tears gathering in his red eyes. "C'mere." He raised his free arm, and Lucas reluctantly let go of Max to tuck into Steve's side.
"She's going to be okay." And he believed that. Max was a fighter, and she had people to return to. "She's going to be okay. We're going to be okay."
Steve took a moment to look around the room, taking note that only Robin, Hopper, and Erica had joined them. It was then that he noticed the lack of one Susan Mayfield.
"Where’s her mom?" Steve asked, though he was sure he already knew the answer.
"We don't know. No one has been able to get in contact with Ms. Mayfield since the earthquake. We're not even sure if she's alive." His dad's answer was enough confirmation in Steve's mind, though.
Susan wasn't doing good after Billy's death, and when Neil Hargrove up and left, she just got worse. She was drinking, he knew, and working all the time, but she loved Max. He knew she did. He could see it every time he talked to her about Max. If she was alive, she'd be here.
He nods and finally takes her in. Her right arm is wrapped in a cast. Little drawings, as well as The Party's names, are all over it in different colored sharpie. It draws a smile out of him. Both of her legs are also in casts, elevated by pillows, and also decorated. The air punched out of his lungs as he took in her face. She had an oxygen mask on, and her skin was pale. Her fire red hair was in two braids, and she looked– small.
Max was never small. Even when face-to-face with a demodog, she never shrank. Even in the face of Billy Hargrove threatening her friends and beating Steve's face in, she stood her ground.
Steve had to choke back a sob, guilt and despair clawing at his throat. This was his fault. It was his fault she got hurt. It was his fault Erica and Lucas got hurt. It was his fault Dustin got hurt. It was his fault Eddie almost died.
He was their protector. He was the one who took the hits. The kids weren't supposed to get hurt. That was his job. What good was he if he couldn't even do that? What reason would everyone have for sticking around if he was so useless?
Maybe it would be better if he had been taken instead of Barb back in '83. Then Nancy would have her best friend, Robin and Erica never would've been dragged into all of this, and Max and Eddie wouldn't be hospitalized right now.
"I can hear your self-deprication from here, Dingus. It's not your fault." Robin's voice snapped him out of his spiral, and he cut her a glare, without any heat behind it.
"It’s no one's fault but Vecna's. And Jason's." Lucas said into his shoulder, and Steve kissed the top of his head in thanks and acknowledgment.
It would probably take a while for him to genuinely believe them, but for now, he pushed the negative thoughts aside. No matter what, he wasn't letting any of the kids get hurt again on his watch. When Max woke up, and she would wake up, he would be there for her.
"Okay, kiddies. I've gotta go check on Eddie and Mike, but I'll be back in here when Robin next allows it. I love you both." He pressed a kiss to both El and Lucas' heads, squeezed them goodbye, and detangled from them with a not-small amount of reluctance.
Robin wheeled him to Max's head so he could press a kiss to her temple and whisper an, "I love you, Maxie. Get better soon, my little zoomer." With that sentiment, he was wheeled out of the room and towards Eddie's room.
"Where'd everyone else go?" He asked Hopper. Erica stayed with her brother, so it was just Robbie and his dad with him now.
"The Byers left to find a place to stay for the night, the Wheelers went with them, and Henderson said he was going to Munson's room."
"Eddie hasn't woken up yet. The doctor said that it might be a while before that happens because of how much blood he lost and the extent of his wounds. Mike was with him, but he was in your room a bit before you woke up. That's all I know so far, though, because I've mostly been with you." Robin added, and Steve's stomach dropped a bit with the news about Eddie.
Before Steve could comment or question further, they reached the room. He felt the last of the tension in his shoulders unwind at the sound of Eddie's heart monitor, secure in the knowledge that everyone in the party was alive.
"Hey, Dust." Robin parked him next to Dustin, where he was sitting in a chair by the bed. The boy immediately sagged into his side, and Steve wrapped an arm around his shoulders.
"I'm going to go talk to your doctor and try to find Joyce." His dad said, ruffling his hair and leaving the room. Robin pulled up a seat on his right and clasped his hand in hers.
"So... Are we gonna talk about how you called Hopper 'Dad'?" Steve suppressed the blush that wanted to spread on his cheeks at Dustin's question, and ruffled his hair.
"What’s there to talk about? We're all aware my parents are shit, and over the last year, Hop's been more of Dad than my actual father. He is my dad. In all the ways that matter. And I refuse to be embarrassed about that."
Dustin gave him an analyzing look before nodding and resting his head back on Steve's shoulder.
Steve took a minute to take in Eddie's state and felt the same strangeness as he had with Max earlier.
Throughout the time that Steve had known him– both in school and over the past week– Eddie was in constant motion. From pacing to walking on tables to a bouncing leg to fidling with his rings to restless hands while talking. But he was never still.
Now he was– save for the rise and fall of his chest– motionless. And the last time Steve had seen him motionless was–
Steve's breath caught in his chest, a lump caught in his throat blocking his airway, and he couldn't breathe. He couldn't–
Steve felt this urgent, all-consuming need to feel Eddie's heartbeat, then. As though his own heart would stop beating if he didn't.
It was irrational, he knew. Steve could hear the drumming of his heart in his ears, and the EKG Eddie was hooked up to was beeping without a hitch to be seen or heard, but–
His fingers wrapped around a pale wrist– and when did he let go of Robin's hand?– thumb pressed to the pulse point there and waiting, waiting, waiting until–
Thump ... Thump ... Thump
The roaring in Steve's ears dissipated as his heart slowed to a matching beat, and he could finally breathe, almost like nothing had ever been wrong in the first place.
It should have been surprising, scary even, the speed at which Steve fell for the other man, but in reality? Well, he had known he liked both for a long while, and Steve had always loved hard and fast. Always gave his heart out as easily as someone handed out candy on Halloween. He always gave more than he received, and it always backfired.
(Well– that's not entirely true. It wasn't that way with Robin, but Robin had always been different. Robin was the first– and only– person where the give-and-take was equal. She was his best friend, his sister, his other half, the platonic love of his life. His soulmate. (With a capital P as they always emphasized) His Robbie.)
But– it wasn't like he could help it. No matter how many times his heart got stomped on, no matter how many people did the stomping, he couldn't stop giving his love. Even if he– and said love– was just bullshit.
This time would be different though, he promised. This time, he'd hold his love close to his chest. He'll feel it, but it won't be given. Steve was barely friends with Eddie, and honestly? If that was all he got? Steve thinks he could live. He thinks he could be content. As long as he has Eddie, even if he isn't his.
——————————————
Well, after some sever hiccups in the writing process as well as some writers block and lack of motivation, here is part 3! Don't worry, this is certainly not the last part, I only do Happy endings, nothing sad or hopeful.

It's another rainy day in Hawkins and Will is lying in bed in his dark room. It's still technically light out, barely five pm, but the clouds are so thick it barely matters. Still, Will had left the lights off. The dark house seems fitting for his mood even though it still always freaks him out a little bit.
Lucas had called to let him know that he wouldn't be able to make it to the movies after all, which of course meant that Mike suddenly had an excuse too. Will can't remember the last time Mike had allowed himself to be alone with Will. Will should be used to it by now, but it's hard to accept when it still hurts every day.
His eyes fall to the Walkie on his nightstand - he doesn't know why it's there. He hadn't used it since before they left to Cali, yet somehow it had ended up on his bedside table anyway after the move back. Maybe he'd hoped the distance truly had been a physical one after all, but apparently it doesn't matter how close Will lives, he's still too much effort.
Will doesn't know why he reaches for the Walkie, probably just feeling sorry for himself.
Will: Mike, it’s Will. Over.
(Silence)
Will: Mike are you there? Over.
(Silence)
Will turns onto his back and stares at the ceiling, his thoughts running away from him as his fingers stays stubbornly pressed on the 'talk' button.
Will: Of course not, why would you be. We haven't used this channel in years.
(Silence)
Will: I just wanted to say to say that I'm sorry, if there's something I did... I mean I know it's been rough lately but I just... I wish i could fix it. I wish there was something I could do to make everything right again.
Will: Mostly I wish I knew what I did wrong - or am doing wrong, I guess.
Will: I just - I miss you.
Will: *chocked up* I really really miss you.
Will shuts off the comm and punches in the antenna, turning onto his side as he lets his tears flow freely, sobbing quietly to himself as he allows the feeling of grief to consume him.
Fifteen minutes later, his tears have mostly dried out, and he's pulled from his contemplation by the sound of loud knocking cutting through the house. The lights are still off, so anyone should assume no one is home. Yet, he still pulls himself up from his bed to go investigate - there's always a chance his mom forgot her keys.
To his complete and utter surprise, the person standing in front of him is Mike, soaked to the bone and bike carelessly thrown on their front lawn. He's breathing heavily, not wearing a raincoat - which is just so typical it actually makes Will annoyed at him - and his wet hair sticks to his face.
All of this to say, it takes a second too long for Will to realize Mike has been crying.
"Mike?" He asks, aware he should open the door further and rush him in from the cold but strangely hesitant to. That does not stop Mike from pushing past him, however, always too comfortable in Will's space. "What's wrong?"
"You turned off your comm."
"Oh."
OH.
Will's eyes widen as he looks at Mike in shock, realizing his private conversation had not been so private. "I'm- I didn't think you were listening."
"Yeah, I know I just-" Mike seems to shake himself, forcing his eyes to meet Will's. "Look, it's not something you did, okay?"
Whatever Will had thought Mike had rushed through the rain to say, it hadn't been this. It should be a reassurance, it should be a relief, but Will knows it's bullshit. The words dig under his skin immediately, picking at hurt and frustration already buried deep.
Something hardens in his chest, and he's surprised by how bitter his own voice sounds as he bites back; "You keep saying that, Mike, and yet you still love punishing me!"
"What?" Mike's face scrunches up in incredulity.
"You say I'm your best friend and I'm different from the others yet you cancel plans whenever it's going to be just us!" Will notices the way Mike flinches at his words, turning in on himself as if trying to hide. "When is the last time we've actually hung out? Just the two of us? When is the last time you didn't ignore or dismiss me whenever we're hanging out with the party?"
"I-" Mike stumbles over his words, eyes looking away from Will and focusing on the carpet. "I'm sorry."
Will freezes at the tone of his voice, noticing to his surprise that Mike is crying again. It takes everything in him to keep his hands to himself, knowing that overstepping his boundaries is the last thing he should do right now, being touched by Will the last thing Mike wants.
Still, he can't help taking a step forward.
"Mike, what's going on?"
"I just-," Mike looks up but refuses to meet Will's gaze, looking around the hallway in frustration. "I don't want you to hate me."
"Why would I hate you?"
Mike sniffles, before allowing his eyes to finally meet Will's, so filled with misery it takes Will's breath away. "Because I'm a horrible friend."
Will frowns, but Mike doesn't allow him to interrupt. "I keep screwing up! I keep doing it wrong! I try to keep to myself and you get upset because I'm ignoring you. But if I wouldn't - if I'd just let you close again I might do something stupid and then you'd definitely hate me so I can't do it right and I'll definitely lose you and I already miss you so much it hurts every day."
"What would you do, Mike?" His voice is barely a whisper but it cuts through Mike's words, immediately capturing his attention. Mike's gaze fixes on him, suddenly heavy and loaded, compressing Will's lungs and making it difficult to breathe. Will hadn't noticed how close they'd gotten - this isn't close for them, and yet it's like Will's skin is already touching Mike's, the air sparkling with electricity as space warps around them until it's nothing, their atoms blending together.
Will watches as Mike seems to forcefully close his mouth and swallow, and glances up just in time to notice the way Mike's eyes cut back up from his lips. He knows it's wishful thinking, knows it's stupid and ridiculous and that it isn't actually happening, but his heart thrums with anticipation anyway, his arteries fluttering underneath his skin in nervous excitement.
He tries to focus, tries to get back to Mike's words so they can figure this out once and for all. More than anything he needs Mike to explain, he needs to know they can work through this and be best friends again. He would never forgive himself if he screwed this moment up, if he got lost in the wrong moment and proved once and for all how bad a friend he truly is.
"Mike, define stupid."
Mike's hands are on his neck, thumbs pushing his jaw up as he pulls Will flush against him. Will's chest erupts as Mike's lips meet his, his heart exploding in his chest as butterflies take over its job. His brain is blaring in alarm, but the rest of his body isn't paying attention, too busy melting into Mike's. His hands come up to clutch at Mike's side, fingers skimming his ribs and clinging onto the fabric of his shirt as he pulls Mike as close as he can.
Will's lungs aren't working, and yet it feels like he's breathing for the first time in his life.
Mike pulls back way too soon, staring at Will in horror as he takes a step back, hands reluctantly following. "I'm - I'm sorry."
He looks like he wants to dash past Will and back out into the downpour, but Will stops him, crossing the distance until he's standing back in front of him.
"No- Mike-," He reaches out without meaning too, years of restraint suddenly flown out the window apparently, and cups Mike's cheek, forcing him to look at Will again. He doesn't have any words, can't really speak, but Mike seems to get it anyway, seems to understand that Will isn't mad.
"You're crying." He responds miserably, aiming his gaze at the floor, cheeks aflame with embarrassment, and oh- yeah, Will is. He hadn't realized until now, but he definitely is. This explains the lump in his throat and the sting in his eyes.
Will sniffles and forces himself to smile, giving in to his own desire for the first time in his life as he reaches up to press a small kiss to Mike's lips. A quiet reassurance, louder than a thousand words.
Mike's eyes widen as he looks down at Will, lips parted in awe.
"I'm sorry. It's just," Will flushes as he takes a step back. "I thought that you would hate me. I guess I'm just... relieved?"
"You-," Mike's voice cracks. "You don't hate me?"
"No!" Will insists, eyes searching Mike's face. "I could never. You're my heart, remember?"
Something cracks in Mike's face, but before Will can look too closely Mike is pulling him forward, hiding in the crock of Will's neck as he hugs him tightly, body shaking with sobs.

7 Here we are.
1.) Do you think Robin was supposed to be there with the marching band?
2.) LIttlest Wheeler says ‘Yeah, dad, it’s fun!’ On the Ferris wheel which I think makes that Holly’s first line in the entire show.
3.) Also I think that’s a completely different Holly actress.
4.) Holly sees the trees moving because of the Mind Flayer goop monster.
5.) I’m shocked that it took a discussion to figure out the Mind Flayer knows where they are since Billy literally told her that it knows where they are.
6.) Dustin is a terrible driver.
7.) I know lots of people like to give Robin and Steve trauma about getting high because of this, but I don’t think this would actually traumatize them. I think this would be the least bad part of the evening, tbh.
8.) Nancy with a shotgun, hell yeah. Jonathan with an ax is a little optimistic. Not because he’s a bad fighter, but because I would not wanna be that close to the blob monster that can take over people by getting into their mouth.
9.) He gets like 2 hits in before Nancy takes over with a shotgun.
10.) Well, and then El takes over. Sort of. There’s a lot.
11.) oh shit, I forgot El gets pulled up and it takes like, all of them to hold her. Well all but Lucas and Nancy, who are wielding the weapons.
12.) Ohhh yeah, it like, punctured her leg.
13.) Neither Robin nor Steve understand Back to the Future while high.
14.) I just realized I think they had Hopper act like an insolent man baby just so they could have Murray call him that and have the moment where Alexi is like WAIT THESE TWO HAVEN’T FUCKED? Happen.
15.) I love that Max is good at first aid because of skateboarding.
16.) This is the first time Nancy or Jonathan have acknowledged that real people are dying if they kill the Mind Flayer. And they only acknowledge it for like, a second.
17.) Okay Lucas is right about El needing backup.
18.) BITCHIN’.
19.) Mike is officially more mature than Hopper this season.
20.) The walkie talkie takes 8 AA batteries? That’s so many.
21.) I forgot Steve staring at the lights while balls to the wall high.
22.) So glad we stopped the action for a conversation about New Coke.
23.) Steve does say he’s not in love with Nancy anymore while under the effects of truth serum. Like yes it’s right before he hits on Robin, but still.
24.) Robin’s face as she hears Steve talk about her.
25.) I am glad they ultimately made Robin a lesbian.
26.) Robin and Steve singing after vomiting up Russian truth drugs si something that can be so personal actually.
27.) Did they…did they CGI blood onto Alexei? That initial blood pool looked weird.
28.) I do kind of adore how the Wheelers are mostly clueless.
29.) Hopper should teach Steve how to fight.
30.) Mayor Kline is the reason Alexei is dead. So for any innovative folks, an easy way to save Alexei is to just have Mayor Kline die when he’s first confronted by that enforcer dude.
31.) I am glad Joyce punched Larry and kicked him in the balls.
32.) I will admit that the shots in the Big Top fun house are pretty great.
33.) The Russians have alerted Murray that the children are in the mall. I mean, they didn’t mean to tell him, but they found out.
34.) El and the rest of the gang to save the day! Hell yeah, baby girl. Hit them with that car!
35.) I forgot how gross the CGI leg thing looked. But also man the CGI just never really got better for this show, huh?

Was wondering if you’d be able to write an Eddie Munson one shot/imagine with Hoppers (Gn) kid. :)
A/N - Yes. Definitely. Absolutely. (I am currently binge watching Gravity Falls.)
“Hey, officer! We need to report a crime!” Jason, and two of his friends ran up to you. You knew they were some of the kids from the basketball team, considering when you tried to have a conversation with Lucas, it’s all he would talk about.
“Yeah? What is it?” You didn’t like him, he seemed like a popular douchebag.
“It’s Eddie! He’s dating someone thats as hot as you!” He was grinning, his two friends behind him laughing.
“Haha, you’re so fucking funny. Get out of here before I punch your fucking teeth out.”
“Officer! Relax, we’re just having fun. Did you forget what that is?” He still didn’t know how to fuck off, did he?
“I have more fun writing papers then your girlfriend could ever have riding your dick, cunt. Now screw off.” You walked away, leaving the stunned possum there to be mocked by his friends.
“What they want?” Dustin came up to you, and now walked alongside you.
“What do you think? They almost always mess with me. It started right after-“
“You arrested Jason cause you caught him underage drinking, I know. By the way, Eddie is looking for you, he wants to show you something.” Dusting grabbed you by the forearm and walked you somewhere.
“I’m guessing you know but you’re not going to tell me cause he told you keep it secret?”
“Yep.”
“Wonderful. How’s your mom doin’?”
“She’s fine, she’s nearly always fine unless she can’t find me.”
“Hey! Remember, I have to keep a close eye on everyone and their cats. Especially considering my dad was chief of police. I have a major role to step up too, and it’s not easy when everyone considers you a joke cause you’re barely out of high school.”
“I see where you’re coming from, but I feel like I may be the wrong person to complain to. Nancy would understand better than anyone.”
“Yeah, I know. I’m just frustrated is all. How’s hellfire doin’?”
“It’s going great. Mine and Mike’s costume shirts are almost done. Thanks for telling us about the club, we might’ve found out too late otherwise.”
“Nah, Eddie would’ve let you join, he likes you both. That and I would have convinced him to if he had told you no.”
“Yeah, cause we’re your favourite teenagers and you love us.”
“Keep telling yourself that, Henderson.” You watched in amusement as he turned to you, mouth agape and brows furrowed, looking insulted.
You chuckled, it was easy to annoy the kid. He was loveable, but slightly gullible.
"Well, are you at least telling me where we're going? You've dragged me nearly across the school."
"Parking lot."
"How many bullies you got so far?"
"I don't know, at least 12 though."
"R.I.P."
"Whatever, we're here. Eddie!" Dustin stopped you at Eddies old van. The side door opened and Eddie stepped out.
"Hello Love." He pulled your hand up, and kissed your knuckles. "I hope my friend treated with respect."
"I've known him way longer then you have Munson. Second, he treats me with respect cause he knows ill beat his ass."
"They'vedone it before."
"I hit you once."
"I still threw up."
"Hey, treat my guy/gal with respect!!"
"Sorry."
"Yeah, anyway, look here." Eddie pulled you towards the van, the door he existed still open.
When you peered inside, it was a mini cuddle space. Blankets, pillows, and two containers with music and candy. Fairy lights were hung around the posters that were on the vans walls.
"Holy shit! This is epic! Did you do this today?"
“Yeah, I skipped my last two periods to work on it beanie.”
“What have I said about skipping school? You can get in trouble for that shit. And don’t act like you don’t fucking know.”
"I'm sorry, Y/N, but I really wanted it to be special for you." He cupped your face with both his hands, smiling down at you softly.
"It is, but don't skip class for me, Dork. I thought 86' was your year?"
"It is baby, I promise. Just thought I should surprise you is all, you deserve to be spoiled.”
“That sounds sweet and cheesy. Let’s go!”
You climbed into the back of his van and sat down on the blankets. Eddie grinned and closed the door, walking around and jumping into the drivers seat.
“Where are we off to?”
“A cliff of sorts, I wanna stare gaze and snuggle up with you in the blankets.”
He chuckled. “Can do babe, but it won’t be dark for a few more hours. Wanna do anything in between then?”
“Ice cream?”

Pairings: Eddie Munson x Plus size reader
A/N: Ok hopefully by part 7 I'll be starting on the first episode of stranger things S 4. So if you're still with me I hope you enjoy.
Warnings: 18+ angst, language, smoking. Not proof read and no word count.
Summary: There's no going back now. You struggled to accept the outcome.
Part 4: Unfathomable
Friday had came and you hadn't spoke or even looked in Eddies direction. It hurt too much to see him. It got to the point where you would spend your lunch in the lavatory. Just to avoid the guys.
Sure you knew sooner or later you were going to have to answer to your friends about your absence the past few days. However, you weren't ready to face them. Or Eddie.
He had said some things that hurt more than anything. To be fair, you did too. Still, you never thought the way you were made it hard to be your friend. And the fact that you care about him was off putting.
You cared not only because you were in love with him, but he truly did deserve someone better than Sara.
-
After lunch that day, you exited the bathroom. You looked left then right. Praying to not see the beautiful guy with the big brown eyes and bouncing curls.
You sighed in relief when you didn't see his denim clad self. You quickly took off to the library. Purposefully not sitting in your normal spot. Just in case if your devilishly good looking best friend decided to look for you there.
He had called once since the argument. But you had your dad make up something so you didn't have to talk.
You searched for a spot behind the shelves. Finding a small nook. It's where they kept all the old records and out dated text books. You sat down and pulled out your notepad. You've really been struggling to write something lately. Of course you did. Your life was crashing down and you were losing yourself and your friend. Hopefully this new wave of information could inspire you.
'There's no turning back now.
Hurtful words echo in my mind.
Fears all but abandoned.
You say one thing, and do the opposite.
Forever drowning in lies.
You made a fool of me, and now I'll make a fool out of you.
There's no turning back now. No'
All of a sudden you heard Dustin, Lucas and Mike.
" Shit she's not here man." Dustin said in a low voice.
Lucas shushed him.
" We have to find her. We have to ask her what's going on." Mike insisted.
" I don't know where else she can be." Dustin lisped.
You crouched down a bit as they passed by.
Lucas's voice trailed off into the distance. "Crap! Tonight was gonna be so good too."
He must have called of the campaign tonight.
You were more than relieved. Not entirely sure if you were gonna go tonight. But Eddie canceling instead of finding a sub was off. He managed to find one when you were sick. So why cancel it now?
You knew you guys had to talk. But you weren't sure that you were completely calm enough yet. The lingering feelings of hurt, and anger were swirling around in your head.
Where should you start? How do you talk to him? Would he even be up for mending the relationship?
-
When you left him in the woods that Monday, Eddie didn't know what to do. You guys had never fought like that before. He said and did things that he completely regretted now. Hindsight being 20/20 and all.
He should've told Sara off and he should've punched Jason's lights out. But, all he really could focus on in that moment was you.
Then things got out of hand.
He never meant to lie or hurt you. But the truth was he did. And now he didn't know what to do.
There were thoughts that lingered in his mind all week. What he didn't understand was why you got so upset and talked about him having sex with Sara. Why were things getting so confrontational? Also, now that you weren't around, why did it feel like a piece of him was missing?
...
It was around 9 pm when you found yourself sitting in your dad's car. Trying to find the courage to get off and knock on the Munson's trailer door.
It had been too cold and there was too much snow to ride your bike. So your dad had you drop him off at work.
You could hear the music blasting from the trailer. And by the song that was playing you knew Eddie was upset.
Careless Whisper huh?
You took a deep breath and made your way to the door. You knocked but no answer. You knocked harder but to no avail.
You were just about to give up when the music stopped just a few seconds before the door swung open. The smell of cigarettes and cheap cologne hit your nose.
Those brown eyes you loved so much, looked so tired. Dark circles and bags that matched yours.
He licked his lips before backing away from the door. Making room for you to come in.
You walked passed and took off your scarf and beanie. Placing it on the couch along with your knee length jacket. Exposing your green sleeved Hellfire shirt. In hopes that he would take it as a peace offering.
Eddie closed the door and looked at you for a second. He smiled to himself and went to his room.
The strum of his baby filled the hallway. You took another deep breath and went to stand doorway.
You looked around his room. Clothes thrown about, ash tray full of cigarettes butts. Half empty bottles of beer sitting on his dresser.
Eddie you slob.
Usually, you would pick up for him a little and do a load of laundry on Saturdays. But it's been a while since you've done that.
You took off your shoes and sat on his stained bedsheets. Wondering how many girls he brought back here.
Eddie kept on tuning his guitar without saying anything. He wanted to, but seeing you put a mental block on his mouth. You looked so sad and tired. He knew exactly how you felt. But as bad as he felt, seeing you felt like he could breathe again. Like the sun finally beamed through the clouds.
You broke the silence first. "How did we get here Munson? "
He got up and as he would call it. Putting the baby for a nap. You watched him hang the guitar on the mantle. When he came back he sat closer. Lighting a cigarette in the process.
" Cuz we're idiots." He teased while sticking his tongue at you.
You smiled as you thought that this adorable guy was the real Eddie. The funny dork. Not the so serious guy you've been seeing lately. Your Eddie.
You rested your head on his shoulder and took the cigarette from him. Fingers touching for a moment. It sent vibrations through your whole body.
You took a puff and handed it back. "I don't want to fight anymore."
He nodded and put his head on yours. " I'm sorry I lied pretty girl...I didn't know how to tell you the truth without hurting you more than I already had. And I'm sorry for saying that stupid shit."
He then placed a kiss on the crown of your head.
You closed your eyes and leaned further into him." I'm really sorry too. But....Why would you do that Munson?" You lifted your head to look at his face. His eyes riddled with confusion. " Why would you let yourself like someone like her? Is she worth lying to your best friends? Or losing me?"
He shook his head. " It's not that I want to lose anyone. I uhh guess the heart wants what it wants."
A few seconds passed before you said anything. "Are... do you love her?"
A question you thought you wouldn't have to ask. But it was necessary. You dreaded the answer, but knew that your heart needed to hear it. You need to know if he did. So that your heart could finally break and you could have time to mend it and move on. To finally stop feeling this way about him and just be there for him as a friend.
"I-" He sighed and looked away. " I don't know...She's fun and all and she gives a really good hand-"
You immediately cut him off. "Alright. That's too much information."
He chuckled a little then got serious again. " But I can't keep seeing her if she keeps treating you that way."
You cleared your throat. " I ...I don't want you to keep seeing her either Munson."
The words brought Eddie's full attention to you. To him, that sounded a lot like jealousy. Which was weird. But for some reason he was flattered.
You looked away and started playing with the hem of your shirt. " I- I don't want you to see her if she keeps calling you a freak. I can't take that anymore. You are not a freak. Stubborn? Yes. Loud and dramatic? Definitely. But a freak? Never."
Oh. He thought. Why all of a sudden he was let down a little by that? He didn't know.
You felt the atmosphere change in the room. It felt like someone punched you in the nose.
Eddie felt it too. Something changed then. But you nor he could put your fingers on it.
" I don't like her." You confessed. "I never have. And though it pisses me off to the core. I support whatever you do. I got your back. No matter what."
Eddie put his arm around your shoulders bring you in for a side hug. " Thanks pretty girl."
You smiled a little and hugged him back. "But I have two conditions for my loyalty."
He looked at you waiting for it. Half expecting you to ask for his first born.
You looked at him. " No more lying ok? This friendship won't work when I can't trust my best friend."
He nodded. "Promise promise...and the second?"
You gave him a thin lip smile. " Please for the love of god, take a shower."
He grinned, put out the cigarette. Then he grabbed your head and shoved his pits in your nose.
You tried your best to push him away. But this guy was way too strong. He ended up straddling you and pining your arms above your head.
Both of you laughing like crazy.
The happiness you felt between you two was heavenly. Almost as if you guys never fought.
The laughter faded and you looked up at him. Eyes moving back and forth between his.
I love you...so much.
You didn't want this moment to end. It finally felt like things were actually going to be alright. But just as quickly as it started, it had to end.
" I gotta go." You said just above a whisper.
He furrowed his brow. " Not gonna stay?"
He let you up. Following you to the living room.
"No bud. I gotta pick up my dad. Call me later though?"
He agreed and you hugged it out before put your things back on. Right before you left the trailer you turned around one last time to look at him.
" Hey, you know that I love you right?"
Eddie tilted his head to the side and smiled that breath taking smile. " I love you too, pretty girl."
You smiled back. Knowing that he did. But not the way you wanted. But that was enough for you. It had to be. You rather have him by your side as a friend than nothing at all.
" Better." You teased. "But no seriously take a shower. Just because I haven't been around, doesn't mean you can skip bath time."
He pouted. " Hey I was working on the van all afternoon. I get sweaty okay."
You looked away and smiled. " See ya later bud."
" See ya."
-
Eddie couldn't help but feel like all the weight was lifted off his shoulders. The conversation ended up better than he could imagine.
He felt good. Happy now that you were talking to him again. He was almost giddy at the fact. He even took a shower with the biggest smile.
Though he worried about what was gonna happen next, at least he knew you would be there for him. And he couldn't have asked for a better outcome.
...
It was Christmas Eve and you were at the Munson's. It was just like old times.
You helping Eddie decorate the tiny tree next to the TV. Tiny silver and gold shiny ornaments reflecting the little white lights.
Wayne drinking a beer and watching Miracle on 34th Street', telling you two to shush because you were laughing so much.
When it came time to open presents you were so excited to see Wayne's expression when he opened his gift first.
He opened his tiny box and his eyes widen. You have never seen Wayne smile like that before.
He held up the football card you had gotten for him. It was of the Indianapolis Colts quarterback number 19 John Unitas. He was Wayne's favorite player in the 50s' thru the 70s'.
He gave you a big hug and thanked you for it. You smiled proudly and were so happy he loved it.
Wayne then handed you a big box. You pulled at the pretty green bow and opened the lid. He had gotten you a huge amount notepads and pencils. And 3 different colored sharpeners. You had enough to last you for the next 5 years.
Tears filled your eyes as you looked up and found Wayne grinning away. " Thank you Mr Munson."
After another big hug, Wayne got up to grab another beer.
Eddie had gotten up from the couch to sit next to you. While smiling, you gave him his gift.
He then pulled out a necklace out of the little black velvet bag. It had a red and black pic hanging from it. He smiled eyeing it as the pic spun.
" You always lose them. I thought that, if you had one around your neck, you won't forget it."
He looked at you like it was the best thing he had ever gotten. He gave you a smirk and nudged you. " Thanks pretty. I'll wear it all the time."
You beamed at him and handed him another gift. But before he opened it, he pulled a cassette with a little green bow out of his back pocket. Handing it to you.
" Sandinista! Munson? Where did you find this?"
He grinned. " Had to go to a couple of towns over to find it."
You laughed in surprise. You'd been wanting this tape when it was released. But you could never find it in the record store.
You wrapped your arms around his neck and gave him a big hug. " Thank you. I love it!"
Eddie couldn't help but smile and hug you back. And when the hug lasted a lot longer than normal ones, he didn't want to let you go. Something about the way it made him feel was wonderful.
Out of nowhere there was a flash. You both looked up and Wayne had a Polaroid camera. You and Eddie looked back at each other and laughed. Then another flash.
After that picture, you let him go and stood up. Taking the camera. " I want one of you two. Stand up bud."
Eddie then posed with his uncle while you took pictures. Along with a few of all three of you.
Once leftovers from supper were put away, Eddie said it was getting late. He wanted to get you home before the roads got bad.
You gave Wayne a hug and a peck on the cheek thanking him for your presents.
" Merry Christmas Mr Munson."
He grinned. " Merry Christmas sweatheart"
You waved him goodbye as you and Eddie went to the van. The snow was really coming down now. When you first came, it was barely flurrying.
" Munson, I don't think we should drive in this."
" It won't be bad." He said brushing off van. He then smack his hand on the side. " She can handle it."
You were worried but you trusted him. You hoped. You two sat for a few minutes to let the van heat up.
Through chattering teeth you spoke. "C-crap Munson! You didn't get the h-heater fixed?"
" Yeah...I forgot. I'm sorry. There's a couple of blankets in the back."
You made a sour face. " Eww! I know what you use those for. I'm good."
Eddie blew into his cupped hands. " I've washed them since the last time."
You side eyed him but honestly, you were too cold to really care right now.
He jumped into the back and grabbed a blanket for you and himself. Both wrapping yourselves up. Him a little less so that he could still drive.
"Oh yeah, I forgot." He said, leaning over and opened the glove box. He then pulled out a stuffed penguin with a bow tie and big brown eyes. " I picked this up for you."
You grabbed it and admired it. Remembering the conversation you had back in April.
You had told Eddie how you saw the cutest penguin at the gas station earlier that day. You told him how the eyes reminded you of his.
Eddie then flicked the bow tie.
You smiled at it. " What? Bow ties are cool Munson."
You brought it to your chest and looked at him. " Thank you."
You could have cried out of happiness that he got it for you and kept all this time. It was one of the nicest things he has ever done.
Eddie had finally had enough of the damn cold and thought the van was warmed up enough. He put it in drive and took off. He lowered the volume of the radio so that he could concentrate on not killing the both of you.
The swerving was so bad that you swore this was the last time you were ever going to let him drive.
All of a sudden, you guys hit a patch of black ice. You shut your eyes because you didn't want to see how you were going to die.
The van fish tail it and spun around. Skidding to a stop in the gutter.
You opened your eyes. You looked over at Eddie and was gripping the steering wheel breathing just as hard as you. His knuckles were white and his other hand was across your chest. Holding you back in your seat.
A minute passed and you were finally calm enough to say something. " Where did you get your license from? From the back of a cereal box?"
He scoffed. "A cracker jack box actually."
You both laughed a little.
After, you grabbed his arm and squeezed it gently. Silently thanking him for protecting you.
Eddie nodded and drew back his hand. " I'm gonna see the damage."
Before he could go, you grabbed his hand. " Wait!"
You turned on the light and started checking him over. Making sure he wasn't hurt.
And for the first time in his life, he felt love. Real love. Love that he only saw in romantic comedies. That of course you would make him watch. It was so pure and amazing that he was sincerely memorized by it. It was in that moment he knew he had someone other than his uncle who truly loved him.
When you met his gaze, you pushed back his bangs to check his head. You took a calming breath seeing that he was unharmed.
Then you pulled him into a hug.
A few seconds passed as you held each other.
" Ehem. I'll be right back."
You nodded and let him go.
The cold air rushed in and filled the entire van as he stepped out. You wrapped yourself as tightly as possible. You were shivering uncontrollably.
When he got back in, snow covered the top of his head. He shook off all he could before climbing in. Shivering too.
He let out an exasperated sigh. " You want the good news first or the bad news?"
You quivered. " Bad news Munson, always bad news first."
He wrapped himself up. " We're stuck."
" Ok?"
He leaned back in the seat. " Good news is, you're stuck here with me."
You rolled your eyes. " Munson we need to get out of here. We' re gonna freeze to death."
He shook his head lightly. " It's Christmas Eve. The plows won't be out this far until later."
You groaned. " Well we can't go out there. It's too cold to walk."
He shrugged. " We're just gonna have to stay until the sun comes up or the plows come through."
You worried but agreed.
Then he suggested that you guys go to the back of the van and huddle together. Wrapping yourselves in anything you could find.
You guys did and Eddie being smaller than you, you hugged him. Rubbing his arms and back.
" You know I learned this survival thing..." He started to say.
" Nope!" You immediately replied. You knew exactly what he was gonna say.
" C'mon y/n. It's probably like negative 15 right now. We could warm up so fast."
You stopped rubbing his arm and leaned back a little. " Stop trying to get me out of my clothes Munson."
" What?! I'm not trying to be a perv. I don't want us to die of hypothermia."
You guys were quiet for a few more minutes.
Crap!
" Fine. But I'm not taking off my underwear."
He tried to convince you that it would be better if you did, but he finally stopped arguing when you wouldn't budge.
You moved away from each other so that you guys could get undressed.
Eddie of course had his shirt off so fast that all you could do was stare.
"What? I have something on me?" He said looking around to his back. Flexing his arm muscles.
You felt your heart begin to race.
God you're so sexy.
You nervously shook your head and looked away. "No you...Just got your clothes off so fast."
He shrugged. " Plenty of practice I guess."
"Gross." You said under your breath while taking off your jacket.
You put your fingers on the hem of your thermal and felt his eyes on you.
" Avert your eyes Munson."
" Shit sorry."
He turned around to give you some privacy. But he fucked up and looked back.
You were taking your shirt off, revealing a dark red bra. Just a simple bra. But you looked good in it. Your boobs were so big and looked so cream. He could just-
He looked away. "Stop looking at her! She's your friend." He said to himself.
But he couldn't help himself. He looked again. This time you were taking off your jeans. Revealing to him your matching underwear.
He looked away again and cursed at himself. Your body was beautiful. He never saw you like this. Have you always been this attractive?
He looked down at his junk and adjusted himself. Trying everything to get his chubby that suddenly popped up to go away.
You cleared your throat and covered your tummy with a blanket. "Alright... I'm ready."
You and he laid down facing each other. You moved into his arms. He scooted closer and you covered his back. Then you brought your hands and your penguin to your chest to cover your cleavage.
Eddie put one arm under your head and with the other hand he threw another blanket over both of you.
Finally, settling into one another. You were staring at his necklace. The warmth of his skin felt amazing. So amazing that you moved closer and hummed.
So warm.
He adjusting himself to you. With his heart pounding into his ears. Why does this feel so good? He thought.
You lifted your hand up to move his hair behind his shoulder. It was tickling your nose.
Slowly your fingers ghosted over his neck down his collar bone. Then back to your chest.
When you did that, he got goosebumps. He wanted more. He wanted you to keep touching him.
Your breathing quickened. You hoped that Eddie would just assume that you were really cold.
He tried to distract his intruding thoughts. Doing his best to convince himself that it was because you guys were practically naked and close. " You uhhh you warming up?"
You nodded. "Yes. You?"
" Oh yeah. Much better now."
You closed your eyes trying to calm down. But as you tried he started to trace up and down your arm. He sent shivers down your spine. Making your core tremble.
What"re you doing to me?
You opened your eyes and looked up.
He was staring at you.
" Y-you ok Munson?"
You looked back and forth from his lips to his eyes. His brown eyes seemed black.
You couldn't read his expression. But it felt like he was going to do something.
He stopped rubbing your arm and hugged you pulling you so that your body was flush with his. In doing this your bare legs wrapped around each other.
You could have died. He smelled so good. And his arms around you were so inviting. You could have stayed like that forever.
You closed your eyes the closer your faces got. You thought he was gonna kiss you. You pleaded to the universe for it. To make this be the moment that he finally understood how in love you were with him.
But he put his forehead on yours instead.
He gulped. " I'm still gonna see Sara."
The words gave you this feeling you never felt before. Your heart felt like it was falling. Sinking almost. But on repeat.
It finally happened. Eddie had officially broke your heart.
Eyes filled with tears and your throat started to hurt. All you could do was nod. You promised him you would support him no matter what. You just thought that maybe he would choose you.
A few seconds later you turned around and silently cried until you fell asleep.
-
When you turned around, he knew he hurt you. Again. He never wanted to, but he needed to see how this thing was gonna go with Sara. She was a girl who wanted him. So why not?
It wasn't like someone like you would want him like that.
That would be something. He figured. Being with a girl like you...maybe even you.
He shook the ridiculous thought away and heard you sniffle. He pulled you into him and silently apologized for his decision.
Maybe it was the wrong one. But he needed to figure it out for himself.
...
In the morning you guys were able to get plowed out.
The drive was quiet and longer than ever. You wanted to get away from him as fast as possible.
And when you got home you gave him a halfhearted hug and told him that you would call him later.
Though you had no plans on talking to him for a while.
You need some distance now.
-
He watched you walk into the house. Last night was so strange. The whole half naked thing. Him thinking how good you looked. Also, how he hurt more than your feelings.
Even his thoughts of wanting you was a lot.
With all of that, he still had the balls to tell you he was gonna see Sara. To be fair, he was going to make sure Sara treated you with respect. And the relationship was going to change. But he was confused. Confused about Sara. And confused about what he was feeling for you.
Maybe if he talked to his uncle, he could get some clarity.
...
You were organizing movies at work when Robin asked if you had any plans for new years. You figured that Eddie would be with Sara so you didn't have anything to do.
The past few days you kept your distance from him. You knew if you saw him, it would challenge your sanity. Lately it felt like you were skating on thin ice. Any moment you could either break down crying or completely check out.
You needed a distraction. Anything would do.
Robin invited you to go to a New Year Eve's party with her and Steve. Normally, you wouldn't go to those type of functions. But you felt the free booze would make you feel better. Besides, it wasn't some highschool party. No one would know you there. No chances of running into him there. So you agreed.
...
Steve and Robin picked you up. You guys talked and laughed during the 20 minute drive.
You had so much fun soon after you guys got there. You played beer pong and drank. The conversations you had with Steve and Robin were hilarious.
About an hour and a half in you went to get some water. Finally thinking you had enough to drink. Steve came and leaned on the counter next to you, looking at Robin talking to a girl that she was in band with.
"Having fun L/n?"
You leaned next to him. " Actually I am...I really needed something to get me out of my head."
" Having boy troubles?" He asked.
You shrugged and looked at your cup of water. " None that I want to talk about right now."
Steve nodded his head. " Got it."
You didn't want to ruin the mood. But you need to know if someone else felt how you felt. Maybe hear that person tell you it wouldn't hurt forever.
You looked at Steve. " Do you know what it feels like to watch the person you love be with someone else?
He was looking at the punch bowl and was quiet for a few moments. "Yeah." He finally said. " I do."
You furrowed your brow. " Does...does it get better?"
He looked at you and gave you a small smile. " I'll let you know."
You slightly nodded and hung your head. Wondering what Eddie was doing.
-
It was almost midnight and the count down begun.
3 2 1
Everyone cheered. People kissed.
You and Steve looked at one other and shrugged. He leaned in and gave you a quick kiss on the lips. You both smiled at each other and joined the cheering.
It was a nice innocent kiss. But deep down, it felt wrong. It felt like your lips belonged to someone else. That someone who you were trying to avoid.
...
You guys were about to head out. Robin was incredibly drunk. You and Steve had to lay her in the back seat as you rode shot gun.
Not long after, Steve pulled up to your driveway. You saw Eddie's van parked there.
Fuck!
You said your goodbye's. Thanking Steve for the fun night.
You got off and started up the driveway. Eddie was sitting in the back smoking.
You sat next to him and wished him a happy new year.
But when he didn't respond, you nearly smacked him for being rude. But before you could say anything, he pointed at the spot where Steve just was.
" When did that happen?" He asked.
You raised a brow. That sounds weird.
You cocked your head. " It didn't. I would have told you if something was going on."
He huffed. " Well that's good. That guy will get with anything with a heart beat."
You narrowed your eyes at him. " Glad to know you think so highly of me, Munson."
Shit! Not what I meant. He thought.
When he didn't respond you rolled your eyes and started for the house.
Eddie cursed at himself and followed you.
Your dad was passed out on the couch.
You went to turn off the TV and covered him with a blanket before going to your room. With Eddie still on your tail.
He closed the door behind him and went to turn on the record player.
" I thought you were gonna hang out with Sara tonight?" You said while taking off your shoes and jacket.
" I was but I wanted to see how my girl's doing. I uhh missed ya."
You shook your head. Not only because he called you his girl but also to the song Keep on loving you that was playing.
Guessing that was where you left off last time you were listening. You turned to look at him.
He looked like he was in this weird trance. "Munson? You ok there bud?"
You took a step closer to him when he didn't answer.
" Hey what's wrong?" You asked again. Finally getting an arms length away.
You watched him licked his lips and met your eyes.
You turned your head a little. " Munson? You're freaking me out."
Eddie shook his head and took a half step closer. There was something he had come there to do. But he didn't know if he had the strength to do it.
Even after seeing you with Harrington. He wasn't too proud to admit that he was jealous. You deserved better than Steve 'the hair' Harrington.
But then he thought Steve would probably never hurt you like he had. That maybe Steve wouldn't put you in a position that he had to.
Overwhelmed by his mind, he finally looked at you. You looked incredible. He then grabbed you and kissed you.
The initial feeling was shock. And for a split second you gave into it. For a moment you kissed him back.
But then you realize that it was wrong and the anger filled you.
You shoved him as hard as you could. " WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?"
Your lips trembled and your hands were shaking. You saw this confused look on his face.
" I'm-I'm" he stuttered. " I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have done that." He put his hand over his mouth and let his head fall back.
You didn't say anything. You just stared at your best friend. With tears filling your eyes. Why did he do that?
He didn't say anything either. He took one last look at you then turned around and left.
He quietly went down the stairs shaking his head.
Why the hell did you do that you idiot?

always yours / steve harrington x fem!reader
summary: you're finally ready for steve to give you the love you've always deserved.
warnings: mentions of abuse, mentions of domestic violence, mentions of symptoms of ptsd, but mostly fluff
part 2 of devil doesn't bargain

you bounced nervously on your toes as you walked through star court mall. you'd spent almost an entire year getting over what billy did to you. and steve made sure you knew that you should take as much time as you needed to. and that no matter how long that was, he'd still be there.
steve was good at that. reassurance. really good at it. steve was a good person.
he'd driven to your house at 2am when you were afraid to be alone after a nightmare. or when things went bump in the night. he'd grab onto you and hold you in place when people would slam their lockers or classroom doors and you'd flinch back into him. he'd touch you ever so gently when standing with you, like he was making sure you knew he was there. he would try to distract when you billy would come walking down the hall. and you tried your best to make him feel like he was successful at that.
steve quickly learned the things that scared you now, and the things that made you feel better. he made sure to hold your hand a little tighter in crowds, and how to control his volume around you. he'd learned to talk you through his feelings instead of just getting angry and yelling. he made you something warm to drink and brought you your favorite blanket and watched your favorite movie with you when you had bad dreams.
but then there came a time when you slept through the night. and then a time when you didn't flinch at slamming doors. a time when you didn't cry and flinch at someone getting angry.
but there never came a time when you didn't need steve.
and that's what led you here, heading straight to scoops ahoy to see your sailor boy.
"ahoy! would you like to set sail on an ocean of flavor? i'll be your captain ste- y/n?"
you'd paused for a moment before taking in a deep breath and walking towards the service doors beside the counter.
"are you okay? i- mm"
you'd walked up to him and quickly cut him off by grabbing the collar of his uniform and pressing your lips onto his.
steve's heart was practically beating out of his chest and he wanted to squeal and giggle and kick his feet around like a little schoolgirl. but he'd settle for wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you closer to him. in that very moment, he swore to any god there is that he'd never let you go.
you pulled you head back, a smile on your face as you looked up at him.
"you taste like strawberry ice cream."
"i-it's y-your favorite." steve stutters, his eyes fluttering.
"as cute as this is, please stop it." robin groans from the window behind you.
you jump at the sound of her voice and chuckle awkwardly, stepping back from steve.
"so...maybe we could go on that date now?" you ask.
"yeah. that is...yes....7." steve nods, letting out a breath as he stares at you
"cool, bye robin. bye stevie." you smile, waving at the two of them.
"bye y/n" robin hums while steve just keeps staring at you.
steve watched you walk away and he's pretty sure his entire brain has shut down. his body, even.
"finally." robin smirks, shutting the window, the slamming causing steve to snap out of the trance that you'd put him in.
"she...kissed me." he said, his smile growing wide as he ran his fingers over his lips.
"she kissed me!" he shouted, laughing slightly as he punched his hands up in the air.
"who kissed you?"
he jumped, turning to see mike, will, and lucas standing there staring up at him.
"not even you little shits can ruin my mood right now. you go on ahead to the promised land, boys." he smiled, opening the door for them.
"weird." mike mumbles as the three of them walked past steve towards the employee door that led them to the movie theatres.
"we're going on a date tonight....oh my god we're going on a date tonight."
****
you let out a slow breath as you stood in front of your bathroom mirror to try and calm your nerves. you weren't really sure why you were nervous, but you were.
"you look pretty." your mother smiled as she leaned against the door frame.
"you think so?" you ask, turning around, looking at your mother with hopeful eyes.
"i do. but even if you decided to show up in sweatpants, he'd still think you were the most beautiful girl in the world. it's steve." she smiled as she gently fixed up your hair and placed her hand lovingly on your cheek.
she was right. it was steve. your steve.
you opened your mouth to respond when you heard the doorbell ring.
"go knock him dead." she winked, handing you your bag.
you made your way down the stairs, and your eyes met steve's. who was at the bottom of the stairs, holding two bouquets of flowers, standing next to your father.
"hi." you breathed out.
"hey" he smiled softly at you.
"hello steve." your mother kindly greeted him, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"hi mrs. y/l/n. these are for you." he said, handing her the bouquet of hydrangeas.
"you're too kind steve." she smiles, squeezing his cheek gently.
"where are mine?" your father frowns, making steve freeze.
"he's joking" you roll your eyes, and stand in front of steve.
"i'm not, but i'll let it slide this time around." you father glares before your mother grabs his ear, dragging him off.
"home by 10!"
"yes sir!" steve shouts back at your father.
steve looks down at you and you feel your cheeks heating up.
"you look beautiful"
"so do you" you smile, and he chuckles.
"these are for you" he hands you the bouquet of arranged flowers, showcasing your favorite flower.
"thank you" you gush, leaning down to sniff the flowers before quickly sneezing.
"you always try smelling flowers when all they do is make you sneeze like crazy."
you just shrug, placing the flowers in the side table and grab his hand.
"starting off our first date by insulting me, interesting choice." you quirk your eyebrow, stepping out of the doorway of your house
"i can insult my girlfriend whenever i want." he smirks, making you freeze in your tracks.
"your what?"
he looks down at you, grabbing your chin and meeting you at eye level.
"my girlfriend." he smirks, leaning forward and pressing a gentle peck on your lips and then walking off, stepping into his car as he leaves you to process what he just said.
"then...that makes you my boyfriend......since when!?" you argue as you run after him towards his car.
he puts the key in the ignition and looks over at you, a short chuckles leaving his lips.
"oh please, i've always been yours. and i didn't feel like waiting around letting more time pass that you weren't mine...i mean, if you want to be of course." he turns towards you, the confession slipping past his lips so smoothly.
your eyebrows crunch together as you stare at him, you reach up and push a piece of hair out of his eyes.
"you should know the answer to that...i will always be yours, steve harrington."
he just smiles, grabbing your chin and giving you a short but sweet kiss. he both pull away smiling at each other before turning back forwards, backs against the seats.
"so, where're we going?" you ask, buckling your seatbelt as he begins backing out of your driveway.
"lovers lake"
"steve!"
"i'm kidding i'm kidding. we're seeing a movie. i get a great discount."
"you don't even work there?"
"i don't. but i still get a great discount."
"steve harrington you are not sneaking us into a movie for our first date."
"what? you love a good bargain deal."
"i hate you."
"no you don't."
"yeah...i don't."

Eddie headcanons with no basis in the show, I just think he’s like this (these are personal headcanons, if you don’t like them you can just ignore them)
He hates Fanta, no real reason, he just used to drink it all the time and now it disgusts him
Loves chili nuts and spicy things in general. I heard somewhere that if you like spicy things your more likely to like pain and bdsm sooo
We know he’s total metal head, but he secretly likes everybody wants to rule the world, he’ll never admit it though
Loves gorey horror movies and comics even if they used to give him nightmares
Completely believes in ghosts, used to find everything in the library about it and when will disappeared his singing caught onto eddies radio once and completely freaked him out
Helped Jonathan out in a fight because they shared freak status, even though they weren’t really friends
Doesn’t let people touch his hair because people used to make a game out of who could touch it without him noticing
This also made hate touch in general. Unless he trusts you fully (like Dustin) he’s not super into physical touch.
Erica is his favorite Sinclair, but don’t tell Lucas that
He loves his uncle to death and if anything happened to him he’d kill everyone in his Hawkins and then himself (j/ but he does love him to bits and trusts him with everything)
His uncle doesn’t care that he’s gay, he just wants to make sure he’s safe
Eddie originally got his bandana for a pirate costume but found out about hanky code and kept wearing it
Debated for weeks on whether he should cut his Dio tshirt for his battle vest because he loved it so much
Biting people is his love language and bit Steve the first time they made out
He likes metal because he feels like someone understands his frustration and he has community in it
One of his ears is pierced but he has so much hair you can’t see it
Robin and him talk about their crushes who both somehow still think they’re straight (Nancy and Steve are a little slow but it’s fine they’ll figure it out)
Robin and him have queers night (instead of girls night) where they watch rocky horror and other queer movies and paint their nail (eddie is horrible at it but he’s learning)
His favorite colour is pink, just because
He makes fun of Steve for liking Grease even though he likes it too
Steve dressed as Danny Zuko for a Halloween party and Eddie had to hold himself back from jumping him then and there
Huge anti-racist and will punch anyone who bullies Lucas or Erica (or any poc for that matter)
Does literally any dare you give him except for cutting his hair, once he had to wear a full face of makeup to school, he was bullied BUT he found out he looks fucking great in eyeliner
Mike has a little crush on him and grows his hair out to look like him
If he could make money from being DM it would be his job
When he cant sleep he spends all night preparing his next DnD session
He comes up with some of his weirder monsters while high, like an undead giant bat infested with a virus that gives it tentacles and sucks out your life force through said tentacles (when he was sober he decided not to use that monster, but he has used others)
Never learnt how to sew on a sewing machine (they can’t afford one), but can sew simple things, mend rips and put patch up ruined clothes
Making the hellfire shirts is kind of expensive, but he makes sure to sell some extra weed so every member can have one
He’s great at making someone feel comfortable when their nervous (like with Chrissy) and really does just want to help people
If Chrissy had survived they would have been great friends, he would have showed her Black Sabbath and she would have showed him Duran Duran.
I headcanon her as bisexual or lesbian who doesn’t know yet and came to Eddie partly because of rumors that he was gay (and the weed obviously)
He would have helped her with feeling less weird about being queer
When the party is being bullied in school he makes a giant fuss about it, being as dramatic as possible to get the attention on him instead, that’s how Mike, Lucas and Dustin first met him
He was ecstatic when he found out Will could draw and commissioned a piece of one of his DnD characters (he cried a little because will got the character just right and eddie hadn’t been able to draw him they way he wanted too)
Eddie doodles in class, has some skill in drawing but doesn’t really use it outside of that and making corroded coffins album cover (he’s thought about asking Will to help him with it)
He had a crush on Steve when he was still “king steve” (because look at him) and hated himself for it because Steve was an asshole
Steve got annoyed when he called him “king steve” so he calls him princess instead (he’s still a bit annoyed but thinks it’s funny)
Makes Steve listen to a lot of metal when they hang out, it’s not really his style but gets why Eddie likes it
Steve always woops the loudest when corroded coffin play and Eddie kisses him silly after
Absolutely loves liquorice and Steve always watches him with disgust when he eats it
Lowkey wants to bleach his hair, but cares about it too much to ruin it
Unless he’s cutting layers he’s never touching a pair of scissors to his hair
Literally just uses body wash as shampoo BUT uses a really nice conditioner he has to sell a little extra for
That battle vest is crunchy as hell and there is no way he’s ever washed it
Steve tries to wash some of the blood out before giving it back, but Eddie just thinks it’s metal as fuck. I mean Imagine have Steve Harringtons blood on your jacket (he is a little sad it bled through the Dio patch though)
Eddie tells him he looks hot in his vest so Steve buys a vest of his own (he doesn’t put patches on it but his arms look great)
He spends forever on writing a song about everything that’s happened and dedicates a whole verse to Steve and one in honor of Chrissy
He’s alive and happy and no one thinks he’s a cultist and a murderer

Graduation
So, here we are, at the end. When I finally finished writing this chapter, I had to have a 30 second dance party for myself. 4 days, 48,000 words, and 14 chapters. But I loved every minute of writing this fic, and I hope you all had as much fun reading it! Sadly, this isn't canon, but then we might be asking too much... but they could at least have left Eddie alive. Sads :( Anyway, I hope this fic has fixed that and left you with better memories of Eddie.
I have a few more ideas rattling around for Eddie fics, but as always you won't hear about them until they are completed and then I'll schedule them to come out. This is just so I don't abandon fics, should my depression rear it's little shit of a head.
Anyway, enjoy, my lovelies! And thank you for reading!
The Outcasts Masterlist
It was the last week of your senior year, and Monday was dragging on. It wasn’t even lunch yet, and you were already bored. Well, okay, it was almost lunch. Like, five minutes to lunch. But you were still staring at the clock, willing it to go faster. Beside you, Eddie was asleep, his head on his arms, brown curls hiding him from view. You’d got your GPAs back at the end of last week and you were all going to graduate. Eddie’s uncle, Wayne, had taken you both out to dinner to celebrate and told Eddie he’d be in the front row at the graduation ceremony next weekend.
You’d never been prouder of your boyfriend. Well, apart from that time he’d played guitar in the upside down. ‘Cause that was pretty damn cool. Knowing he was going to graduate had given Eddie a permanent smile on his face ever since. And he’d finally been able to relax at school. He was gonna get his diploma and wave his middle finger in the principal’s face, just like he said he would. You were really looking forward to that, actually, since the principal had gone ahead and made Jason Carver class valedictorian and you had an intense hatred for him.
Finally, the bell rang, and you turned to Eddie to wake him up. He looked up at you bleary-eyed and smiled. You leaned down to kiss him gently. ‘Wakey wakey, sleepyhead. Time for lunch.’
Eddie got up, stretching as he did so, winking at you when he saw you watching him. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders loosely, and you entwined your fingers with his hand. You met up with El as you walked to the cafeteria, and she gave you a bright smile and started chatting with you about Eddie’s upcoming D and D week. You had finally decided to hold it at the Henderson house, since you guys had the most room and there would be thirteen of you all crammed in. Your mom was going to visit an old friend, so you’d have the house to yourself.
It was as you were waiting in line in the cafeteria that it happened. Mike came running up to you, kissed El quickly, and then turned to you, clearly out of breath. You raised an eyebrow at him. ‘Someone on fire, Noodle?’
‘What? No. There’s a rumour going around that you punched Jason Carver,’ Mike gasped.
You shrugged. ‘And?’
‘Did you?’
‘Maybe.’
‘Y/N! You have to tell me, come on!’ Mike yelled, making everyone stare at you.
‘I tell you what Noodle, why don’t you go sit at our table and wait and see what he looks like when he walks in here, huh?’ You suggested, as Eddie smirked beside you.
‘Okay, but why did you hit him? You know who he is-’
‘He pointed a gun at Lucas. He tried to hurt Max, and Eddie, you know, my boyfriend, the man I love.’ Eddie leaned down to kiss you at that. ‘And he allowed his friend to hurt Erica.’
‘Who told you about that?’ You asked, turning to your boyfriend.
‘Is that why you gave Andy a concussion?’ Mike asked, staring at you in wonder.
‘Not me, I swear,’ he promised.
‘So you did? Y/N! What if they don’t let you graduate?’
‘What if the guy that held Erica down and threatened to break her arm got what he deserved?’ You returned, folding your arms. ‘Besides, my grades are too good. And no one knows it was me. And even if they did, you think Andy’s gonna admit he got hit in the face with a bat by a girl?’
‘You used a bat?!’
You shrugged. ‘It was all I could find.’
‘It was that or a spear,’ Eddie pointed out.
‘But why?’ Mike asked, clearly confused. ‘You’re not normally so…’
‘Punchy?’ Eddie volunteered, making you giggle.
‘Yeah.’
‘Mike, you know how I always tell you all I’ve adopted you, and I’m your big sister?’
‘Yeah.’
‘Well, someone hurt my brother. They hurt my sister. They tried to hurt my other sister. And they were hunting my boyfriend. Given what you know about me, do you think I’d just let that go?’ You asked, handing over your money to the cashier and turning towards your customary lunch table.
‘Uh, yeah, okay,’ Mike said, nodding his head as you all sat down. ‘That does totally fit with you, actually.’
‘Of course it does,’ you smiled.
Everyone else was already sitting down by the time Jason Carver walked into the cafeteria with two nasty looking black eyes. Your table erupted in cheers and whistles and, though he clearly looked like he wanted to say something, Jason kept his head down and went to his own table without a word.
‘Why has he got two black eyes?’ Dustin asked curiously.
‘Eddie took care of the other one for me,’ you replied sweetly, kissing your boyfriend, who was wearing the biggest grin you’d ever seen.
‘Nice,’ Dustin said, high fiving Eddie.
‘Oh, y/n, I was gonna ask if you still wanted to decorate our caps together?’ Robin asked you. It was a longstanding tradition for the seniors to decorate their graduation caps before the ceremony. You and Eddie had already figured out what you were doing with yours, all that was left was to paint them.
‘Yeah, of course! Want to come to mine tonight?’
‘Ooh, yeah, you always have the best ideas,’ she said.
‘I invited Smalls to help,’ you told her, grinning at Will down the table. He gave you a bright smile in return. ‘Since he’s our artistic genius and all.’
‘And you can’t draw for shit,’ Robin pointed out.
‘Exactly.’
You got up to throw your trash away, and when you returned, Eddie pulled you onto his lap and kissed you soundly, making Dustin and Mike make gagging noises. Max, who had been back at school for two weeks, threw grapes at them until they stopped. You pulled away, smiling at Eddie. ‘What was that for?’
‘Do I need a reason, sweetheart?’ He asked, grinning at you.
‘Not at all,’ you said, and kissed him again.
You all headed out to the parking lot once you were done eating. Eddie lit a cigarette as you fiddled with the stereo in your car, letting Metallica’s Master of Puppets blare out at top volume. This started an impromptu air guitar competition, with the winner getting Robin’s bag of m and ms. You both neglected to mention that the bag had been in her backpack for a while now.
Dustin won the contest due to his sheer dramatics, and he triumphantly gobbled down the suspicious m and ms. Eddie held out a hand to you and you took it, letting him pull you into the dancing that was now going on. One more week of school. One more week and you’d never have to come back here again, save for your graduation ceremony. And only two months until you and Eddie went on the road with Corroded Coffin. It felt strange to be leaving, but also the start of something new. And it did feel like time to not move on precisely, but to start the next phase of your life.
It wasn’t like you were running away. Hawkins was safe now. You were leaving your brother in the very capable hands of Joyce and Hopper. Jonathon was staying for community college, and so was Robin. Nancy had got into a great college to study journalism, and you and Eddie were touring with his band until you hit LA, where you’d be going to nursing school. You’d already started your research into the schools out there. Life was changing, but it wasn’t a bad thing.
‘You seem to be thinking hard about something, sweetheart,’ Eddie said softly, pulling you in close.
‘Just thinking about this being our last week of school,’ you told him, looking up to meet those warm brown eyes you loved so much.
‘I know. I wasn’t expecting it to go by so quick,’ he said, pressing a kiss to your knuckles while his hand rested on your waist.
‘Yeah, so much has happened in such a short amount of time,’ you replied.
‘You looking forward to what comes after, though?’ He looked a little worried, and you rushed to reassure him.
‘Of course I am. We’ll be together and that’s all I need.’
‘That and the kids all need to be okay.’
‘Well, that goes without saying.’
He laughed and kissed you softly. ‘They’ll be fine. They’re all way too smart for their own good, but you know Steve, Robin, and Jonathon will look out for them. And we’ll come back for thanksgiving and Christmas.’
‘And anytime they need us.’
‘Well, that goes without saying.’
‘And that is why I love you, Edward Munson,’ you said, smiling at him and leaning up to kiss him.
‘Just that? Nothing else at all? Not my pretty eyes? Or my excellent ass? Or my talented fingers?’ Eddie asked, nuzzling your neck and making you giggle.
‘Oh, those too, of course.’
‘Of course.’
You laughed and let him kiss you again, letting your worries fade away as your mind filled with thoughts of Eddie.
You pulled into the parking lot at Hawkins High as a senior for the last time. Today was graduation day. A day that had always seemed so far away until after spring break. Every time you’d dreamed about graduation before, you’d always thought about it being in the way off future. But now, here you were, boyfriend sitting beside you in the passenger seat, your best friend, Robin, sitting in the middle in the back, Jonathon and Nancy on either side of her. All five of you were graduating today. Today was your last day at this school.
Four years here hadn’t made you love the place, or anything, but it still felt strange to be saying goodbye. No more walking down the halls with Eddie. No more making stupid comments in class with Robin. No more emergency party meetings in the parking lot. Steve had already given you the talk about weird it would feel, and how awesome it would feel at the same time. But you guessed a small part of you hadn’t taken his words in, because the amount of feelings that hit you as you pulled in still surprised you.
It was worse when you got out of the car. All of a sudden it really hit you, for good this time, that you would never be coming back here as a student. You were officially an adult now, and you could do whatever you wanted with your life. No more rules, no more teachers telling you what to do, no more parents telling you what to do. It was just you and the entire world spread out in front of you. And despite the sadness you were feeling, and the fear that things would go wrong, you were still so damn excited about your future. Because for the first time, you had someone to share it with.
You’d already told Eddie how handsome he looked in his graduation cap and gown. The cap was decorated with the Hellfire Club symbols. He even had a baseball bat to match your own cap. Yours was decorated with little stick figures, six to be precise, all holding hands, a baseball bat to commemorate your time in the upside down, a dice for D and D, and flames licking the sides. Robin’s was decorated with a scene from one of her favourite movies, Children of Paradise. Jonathon’s had a camera with polaroids spilling out around it, and Nancy’s had a newspaper, notebook, and a quill.
Eddie came to stand beside you and took your hand, entwining his fingers with yours.
‘You ready, sweetheart?’ He asked softly.
‘For this? Oh, yeah,’ you said, grinning slowly.
You followed the stream of people heading inside, moving into the cafeteria, and waving to the kids and Steve, who had come together. Your various parents were sitting in the front row, Wayne chatting with your mom. You all sat in the chairs at the side of the room, waiting for the ceremony to begin, joining Jeff and Gareth, who were already waiting for you. You and Eddie yawned your way through Jason Carver’s speech, whose two black eyes looked like they were covered with makeup, making both you and Eddie clap your hands over your mouths as you struggled not to laugh. Thankfully, his speech wasn’t long, though it did receive a lot of cheering, sadly.
Principal Higgins came onto the stage, said something vaguely cheerful about the class of 86 and then began calling students’ names. It was in alphabetical order, which meant it would go Robin, Jonathon, You, Eddie, and then Nancy. The others waited for you and Eddie, staying by the stage until he got up to get his diploma. He waltzed across the stage, took the diploma from Principal Higgins, and then stuck his middle finger up and waved it in the principal’s face. Laughing, you cheered for him with his uncle and your friends.
When you were all standing in a line in front of the parents, and everyone was told to clap for you, your party, including the kids and Steve, all stood as one and flipped off the principal, Jason Carver who was still on the stage, and anyone else that was up there. There was a lot of cheering, some scolding, but none of you could hear them over the sound of your laughter. You all flooded back outside together, Eddie’s hand in yours, for pictures and congratulations.
Jonathon handled the pictures, promising to send you all your copy of the reel once he’d developed them. Your mom came over and fussed over you, your relationship better than it had been. Dustin and the kids all piled on you, giving you hugs and congratulating you. It was a while before the pile up cleared and they moved on to Eddie, who disappeared into the pile laughing loudly. Joyce and Hopper were there, and they swept you up into crushing hugs, telling you how proud of you they were. Eddie’s uncle gave you a hug and thanked you for helping his nephew graduate, and you and Robin hugged each other hard, both of you crying for an unknown reason.
You all piled into the cars and headed for the diner. There were so many of you, it was lucky you had booked ahead. After an excellent and nutritious dinner of waffles, which you piled high with cream and sprinkles, sharing a grin of delight with El, who had done the same with hers, you all made your way to Steve’s house for your graduation party. His parents were out of town again, so you had the place to yourselves. Which was probably a good idea, given how excited and loud you all were right now.
You jumped into the pool to play an intense game of water volleyball, refereed by Max, who still had her arm and leg in a cast. The game lasted for over an hour and a bitter rivalry was borne between the girls and the boys when the girls won 6-0. Steve had music blasting on the stereo, and you and the girls did a victory dance that turned into just dancing when the music changed. Steve had made sure there was plenty to drink, and you spied your boyfriend sitting in a deck chair, beer in hand, talking to Steve and Dustin.
You joined him eventually, wondering what they were up to, plonking yourself down in Eddie’s lap, who immediately kissed you. ‘What are we discussing, my fine friends?’ You asked, wrapping an arm around your boyfriend’s shoulders.
‘How we managed to lose when we had the basketball champion on our team,’ Steve said.
You laughed. ‘Never underestimate the power of four girls who want to rub it in the boys’ faces that they’re better than them.’
‘You’re not even good at sports,’ Dustin protested loudly. ‘And neither are we.’
‘Doesn’t mean we don’t want to beat you, though,’ Nancy put in, swimming up to the edge of the pool with Jonathon.
‘Besides, we’re just better than you, Squish,’ you said.
‘Are not.’
‘Are too.’
‘Are not.’
‘Are too.’
‘Are not.’
‘Are too.’
‘Not.’
‘Too.’
‘Not.’
‘Too.’
‘Not.’
‘Too.’
‘Okay, I say we move on before the Henderson’s start a fight,’ Steve cried.
‘Ooh, truth or dare!’ Robin shouted, coming to sit beside Steve on his deck chair.
‘Oh, come on, really?’
‘What, are you too chicken?’ Robin started making chicken noises, you only half a second behind her. By the time he finally agreed, everyone in the party was making chicken noises at him.
You started off slow; Steve had to revive his keg chugging skills and drink a nasty smoothie you and Dustin concocted for him. Will had to draw a caricature of Nancy. Eddie had to serenade you with a song. And Robin had to swap clothes with Mike. Then you really got into it; Jonathon got given a makeover by Max and El. Steve had to bench press Will for as long as he could, which turned out to be two minutes. Robin had to give Eddie a piggyback, and they both fell into the pool. You gave a rousing dramatic reenactment of the moment you met Dustin, which was met with hysterical laughter and much cheering and clapping. Nancy had to make up a fashion show, and she used the boys as her models, to much applause from the girls and picture taking from you who had taken over Jonathon’s duties so he could walk down the makeshift catwalk.
It was late in the night, and the kids were playing in the pool, as the now-adults all sat around a makeshift campfire roasting marshmallows. You were curled up in Eddie’s lap as he fed warm, gooey marshmallows to you and listening to the quiet conversation taking place.
‘So you’re off to Brown in a few months, Nance?’ Robin said, almost dropping her stick in the fire.
‘Yeah, I’ve got a journalist summer course starting in July,’ she replied.
‘Wow, I think you’re the only ones with plans before college starts,’ you told her.
‘You’re not doing anything before you leave?’ Jonathon asked you.
Eddie shook his head. ‘Nah, just a chill summer before we go on tour.’
‘Still think that’s the coolest idea ever, man,’ Steve said, as the others nodded.
‘Works out best for us,’ you smiled, looking up and meeting Eddie’s eyes.
‘How’s Dustin coping with it?’ Robin asked.
‘He’s okay, actually,’ you said. You and Eddie had a long talk with him about you going on tour and possibly moving to LA once you were done. Dustin wasn’t thrilled, but he knew you’d keep in touch and come back to visit whenever you could. And if he needed you, you would be on the next plane out.
‘He’s not thrilled, of course,’ Eddie continued. ‘But this is the best plan for both of us. Y/N’s smart enough to get into any nursing school she wants.’
‘That’s what you want to do?’ Nancy asked, surprised. ‘Sorry, I didn’t mean that like it’s a stupid idea. I meant it more like, wow, that’s so cool!’
You laughed. ‘Don’t worry, I got you. And yeah, I figured maybe an ER nurse.’
‘Ooh, you’d be good at that,’ Robin said, nodding at you.
‘Yeah, you patched me up,’ Steve added.
‘And you’re always taking care of the kids when they get hurt,’ Jonathon put in.
‘Amazing, isn’t she?’ Eddie grinned, kissing you loudly and making everyone laugh.
‘Thanks guys,’ you smiled. ‘It means a lot to me that you all think I’d be good at it.’
When dawn came, the party finally wound down. The kids had all crashed in the living room, and everyone else had pretty much slept where they fell. You and Eddie were sitting outside on the edge of the pool, feet dangling in the water, sharing a cigarette as you watched the sunrise.
‘Today was a good day,’ you said softly, leaning your head on Eddie’s shoulder.
‘The best,’ he said, grinning. ‘Though there are probably going to be some amazing days to come.’
‘Of course there are. How could there not be when we’re together?’
‘I love you, Y/N Henderson, now and always.’
‘And I love you, Eddie Munson, from now until the end of time.’
You shared a sweet kiss, the rising sun bathing you in its rosy glow.

the scars
Tumblr media
words: 1,151
MASTERLIST tales from the great beyond
A/N: I do not claim to, nor do I own Stranger Things; the concept, characters, plot, etc.
Also, Kate is very much lying about where she got her scars from, as this is from Billy’s POV, he doesn’t know.
If you’re wondering the origin of the head scar, refer to S1E5. It isn’t explicitly said, but when she falls, its pretty much on her face. And the origin of the leg scar is S2E6. Thanks Dart.
It was the middle of February, the heat was cranked to max in the Hargrove house, and Kate and Billy were definitely feeling toasty wrapped up in a cocoon of blankets on Billy’s bed. The lamp was still on in the corner of the room, they had forgotten to turn it off earlier.
“Quit moving around.” Billy grumbled, his face half-buried by the pillow tucked under his cheek.
Kate huffed, kicking her legs a bit to agitate him.
He popped one eye open, finally giving her the attention she wanted. “What’s the deal?” He asked, rolling onto his back. “It’s like three in the morning-“
“And I can’t sleep.” She whispered, dramatically falling back against the pillows.
“Why is this my problem?” Billy asked, internally screaming as she sat herself upright against the wall.
“The moment you invited me over, it became a you problem.” She raised her eyebrows, tugging on the blanket.
He sighed, rolling over onto his side again and propping himself up on an elbow. “What do you want me to do about it? Should I call the sandman-“
“Let’s talk.” Kate replied, eyes flitting over the various posters hung on his wall.
“Talk? About what?”
She shrugged, still looking around at the posters.
Billy reached out with his free hand, fingers brushing over the scar on her thigh. He still remembered the night she got it.
Kate’s eyes trailed down to where his fingers touched her skin. “Remember that night?” She asked, keeping her voice low.
Billy nodded.
In hindsight, he wasn’t proud of his actions that night. It was one of the major reasons they had to keep their relationship so hush-hush; He had burned bridges with everyone that was close to Kate, all within the span of a few minutes. Steve, Mike, Lucas, and Max.
Sorry as he was, he didn’t want to forget that night. Or the way Kate looked when he had first arrived at the Byers home.
The moon was shining just right on her, illuminating her features, making her look almost angel-like. Then he idiotic brother had to stick his nose where it didn’t belong and everything went to shit from there.
He also would never forget that first kiss.
Be as it might, a form of bribery to get him to leave, it was as real a “first kiss” in their relationship, as any other first kiss Billy had ever had. Even if then, it didn’t really mean anything.
“That was a hot kiss.” He smiled coyly, knowing this would make Kate fluster. And it did, her cheeks turned pink as she remembered the night too.
“Whatever-“ She rolled her eyes, playing it off. She grabbed his hand from her leg, holding it up and examining it. “Where’d you get those?”
She was talking about the scattered white specks that decorated his hand. “Somebody dared me to break into a car.”
Kate furrowed her eyebrows, looking at him suspiciously.
Specifically, he was at a party, and the DD of his friend group had locked his keys in his car accidentally.
They tried everything they could before reaching the conclusion of breaking the window; Picking the handle lock, using a wire hanger to get into the window, etc.
It went a little something like:
“The only other way I see this happening is if we break the window open.”
“You have insurance right?”
Then Billy said “I’ll just break it with my fist.”
And all his friends looked at him like he had two heads. But all it took was one “Bet you won’t.” For him to punch his fist straight through the glass.
They immediately went to the emergency room.
“You’re serious?” She asked, finally deciding that she believed him.
“Cross my heart.” He nodded, pulling his hand from between her’s and crossing his heart.
His eyes studied her face, coming to rest on a small scar, just at the edge of her hairline on her forehead. “What’s that one from?”
Kate lifted her hand to touch it, trying to remember where it came from. “Freshman year, went to a softball game, got cracked in the head.”
Billy couldn’t help but laugh at the thought of Kate getting obliterated by a softball. “It’s actually not funny because it gave me a concussion and I had to be wheeled out in an ambulance in front of the entire softball game.”
Kate wasn’t being entirely serious, as she spoke her mouth upturned in a smile. Like she couldn’t help but laugh at herself.
“Okay, what about that one?” She asked, leaning forward and tapping his chin, where a small scar was wedged by his lower lip.
“You sure you don’t already know the answer to that one?” He asked, eyes shifting to look out the window.
Kate sighed, fidgeting a bit. “Your dad.” She answered for herself.
“Good old Neil.” Billy nodded. “One of many.”
Kate sighed again, sinking herself back down on the bed and wrapping the blankets around herself. “You ever break any bones?” She asked, laying on her side to face him.
Billy shook his head. “I sprained my wrist though once. Beat some kid up in like fifth grade, and my hand took a beating too.”
“That’s not nice!” Kate gasped, swatting at his arm.
Billy shrugged, rolling over to lay on his back. “You ever break anything? I wouldn’t be surprised, you’re like the most clumsy person I’ve ever met-“
“Oh seriously?” She scoffed, fluffing her pillow. “I’ve broken both of my ankles, three fingers, and almost my back.”
Billy whipped his head around, staring at her in disbelief. “How do you almost break your back?”
“Rope swing and shallow water.” She nodded, clicking her tongue. “I landed on my ass though, not my feet, so I kinda broke my own fall.”
Billy was torn between laughing his ass off at the thought of that scenario playing out in real life, and being genuinely concerned for her wellbeing.
“Maybe you’re right, I am kinda clumsy.” She mumbled, cuddling into his side. “Got any more fun stories to tell me?”
Billy blinked, a small smile appearing on his face. He began to recount the time he flipped off his surfboard and gave himself a black eye from hitting the fin.
And the time he tripped over Max’s Barbie Dreamhouse and not only broke it, but also the handle off his bedroom door. (From running away from his father.)
And the time that he thought it was a good idea to touch freshly-poured tar and it stuck to his hand for a week, and left a nasty scar to boot.
By the time he had finished the third story, he glanced down. Kate was fast asleep, nestled into his chest.
Billy felt warmth rise in him. But whether it was the scalding heat of the room, or the girl asleep on top of him, he would never really know.

Sorting stranger things: part two
I'm stuck in an A&E waiting room at 4am dying of boredom (dw I'm completely fine), and stranger things is coming out in like 28 hours, so let's get this long buried draft hammered out. Forgive typos and other chaos pls, I don't usually stay up this early
I'll edit this post soonish to link part 1 here, for anyone who wants an explanation of the system and how I sorted the teens
The adults:
Joyce: snake - lion?
Joyce's primary is obviously snake, in that there is literally nothing she seems to really care about except her boys. It makes her a very lovable and solid-feeling character, though I do feel like she should maybe have an identity beyond being a mother: she's kind of an exploded snake. It's understandable given the traumas she and her sons have faced, though I get the impression that maybe the Duffers don't realize it's unhealthy for a woman to just be a mother and nothing else, which bothers me... Are they clapping themselves on the back for writing a strong female character who is a Good Mother? (Arguably the only consistently good and reliable parent figure who's a regular on the show, but still not a healthy one). She branches out a little with Bob, which felt like a really healthily supportive relationship, but then he dies and they pair her off with Hopper, and her S3 relationship is a shit show. She's subordinated to Hopper, who's suddenly an absolute bully, and spends the latter half of the season as Hopper's sidekick and emotional crutch. Please S4, I'm begging you to give us a Joyce with a sense of self, maybe even a hobby. Go wild.
Her secondary is probably lion. Joyce is honest and straightforward, even when lying would probably be more practical. She can be tactful, but she maintains integrity — her advice to Hopper about what to say to Mike and El is a masterclass in emotional honestly and trust. And this tiny woman will go to war with monsters from other dimensions — solo if she has to — and goes about punching mayors.
Bob: snake? — bird: What a sweetheart. Loud bird secondary (hero bob saves the day with his knowledge of brainteasers and BASIC), primary unclear but I'm thinking snake. He's in it for Joyce, and because of Joyce he's in it for her boys. I know this means I've sorted Bob the same as Billy, but sharing a sorting doesn't necessarily mean being similar people.
Hopper: snake-bird. I know he seems like a lion secondary because of his big blustery punch the mayor thing, but ultimately Hopper's methods are all about this or that guy he knows, this contact, this skill he developed at some mysterious point in the past. I think he's a bird who plays a lion character for convenience — or maybe even models lion. As for his primary, hopper has this way of being completely rudderless unless he has someone to care about and fight for (i.e. El and Joyce, mostly. In Joyce's case he basically ends up letting her tell him what to fight for. It's striking.)
Dr Owens: bird-badger. At the end of the day Owens is a scientist and he's focused on knowledge gathering above all, but he gets there by community building
Dr Brenner: I'm going with bird primary, maybe? Secondary is up in the air, I feel like we'll know more after S4
Quick fire round: the kids
El/Jane: Badger primary, probably, with lion secondary. "Friends don't lie" points at both of these, for me.
Mike: snake primary, he's definitely a loyalist character who bonds to specific individuals (El, Will... season 4 will probably be hard on him, I don't think he's nearly as close to the rest of the gang). No clue about his secondary, but it might be lion: he's aggressively uncompromising.
Will, Lucas: sweet kids, but I can't seem to get a handle on their characters so no idea what's up with them. In Lucas' case I think I've just not personally seen enough of him, in Will's I think there may be a Billy like situation of a character being so traumatized that it's hard to tell what they enjoy/do naturally. @persefoneshalott reblogged my last stranger things sortinghatchats post and reckons Will is a Badger-bird, which I could see: he uses his art skills to communicate even when he's fighting mind control, and he's extremely invested in the integrity of the party as a social group.
Dustin: double bird or bird-snake. His primary could be a kind of extreme universal badger (in which demodogs can be people too) but he's just too delightfully thrilled at every chance to reassess his model of the universe to not be a young bird building his system, I think. Ethically speaking it's in many ways a badger-flavoured bird system that he's building, but his eudaimonia is all about satisfying his curiosity about how the world works, so: bird. And though at first I thought he was a double bird his secondary feels snakey to me: he's charming, he lies and misdirects fluently and improvisationally in series 1 and 2, and he enjoys it. When Lucas says Max didn't believe him about the demodogs, Dustin asks if he "told her right" — and picking and choosing what story he thinks people need to hear to do what he wants is pretty par for the course for him. Dustin's methods basically come down to "anything and everything I can come up with in order to pursue my (bird pri goal) Curiosity Voyage™." In S3 the snakeish behavior has more or less entirely disappeared in favor of an (also cool but quite different) gadget obsessed bird, but I'm going to give the Watsonian explanation that Dustin just got back from science camp, which encourages a bird secondary model. Also, it helps him bond with Robin, which is useful for establishing the scoops troupe plotline. Ok, Dustin's sorting wasn't quick. What can I say? He's fun.
Max: feels like a double lion, idk why but she just does? At least, she does in season 2. In S3 her character has suddenly become super manipulative (and abruptly girly and clothes/consumerism-obsessed) over the eight months that have passed, and she seems to think about very little but how to mess with boyfriends. Maybe she's a lion-snake who spent S2 in neutral, but I feel like it's just poor character development. (This is someone who in S2 was so aggressively characterized as "not like other girls" that getting her to wear a hairclip to a party was apparently a negotiation.)
I guess the Watsonian explanation would be that Max has no examples of healthy relationships to model hers on, and might be imitating her mother. I lean towards the Doyleist answer that the Duffers just think that's what young girls are like in friendships/relationships, which (if so) is misogynistic and a sad waste of a potentially good character. I gather Max has a major plotline coming up in S4, so I'm cautiously optimistic and reserve the right to reassess.

Mike flips through the drawings Will had given him what seems like ages ago. He found himself unable to tear himself away from one of Will's favorites. It was the party. But they were their dungeons and dragons selves. Will the Wise stood proudly amongst his fellow party members. Together they stood triumphantly.
Mike was pulled from his thoughts at the sound of the feedback from the supercomm.
"Can you please stop that?" He asked exasperatedly at El, who sat in her fort fiddling with the device.
El looks to him, before returning to the com, the crackling of the feedback whining throughout the room.
"Are you deaf?" Mike snapped.
El was determined to keep tinkering away.
"I thought we were friends, you know? But friends tell each other the truth. And they definitely don't lie to each other. You made me think Will was okay, that he was still out there, but he wasn't. He wasn't! Maybe you thought you were helping, but you weren't. You hurt me. Do you understand? What you did sucks. Lucas was right about you. All along."
El's eyes bore into Mike's as he yelled at her. However, she sat there, unfazed before turning back to the com. With the final crackle, the distinctive voice of Will Byers rang over the comm and across the room. He was singing.
"So come on and let me know, Should I stay or should I go?"
Mike slowly looked up from the picture and towards El, goosebumps littering his skin. She was looking to him expectantly, blood dripping from her nose.
"Should I stay or should I go now? Should I stay or should I go now?"
Mike jumped off the couch and ran to El, who slowly handed him the walkie. Mike stared at it in disbelief as he listened to the unmistakable voice of his best friend.
"If I go there will be trouble. If I stay it will be double."
Mike gladly took the comm. His finger pressed firmly on the speaker button he practically yelled into the speaker. "Will, is that you? It's Mike! Do you copy? Over."
El stares at the boy, wishing she could help him more. Alas, she knew Will would be unable to hear him. The room was met with the dreaded static of the other line as Mike waited for a response that would never come.
He tried again.
"Will, are you there? Will!"
Mike saw the look on El's face, knowing she had done her best. He dropped his hand to his side.
"Was that...? Was it...?"
El gave Mike a bittersweet smile.
"Will."
There was a soft knock at the door.
"Michael? Hi, honey. How are you feeling?"
Karen poked her head into her son's room.
Mike stuttered as he lay under the blankets, and she crosses the room to sit at his bedside.
"I, uh... I don't think I can go to school today."
"Oh, that's fine, sweetie. I need to drop off Nance, then I'm gonna check in on Barb's parents. Why don't you grab a book or something and come with me? We can stop by the video store on the way back, pick out whatever you want. Even R-rated."
Karen offered, a small smile on her face.
"I think I just want to stay home today. I mean, if that's okay?" He asked, tentatively.
"Well, are you sure you're gonna be all right here by yourself?"
"I think so."
"Okay." She sighed, patting her son on the arm comfortingly."If you need anything, call Dad at work."
Mike softly nodded his head.
"Okay."
"Okay."
Karen leaned forward and kissed her son on the forehead before stepping out.
"Bye." Mike softly called after his mom.
She turned to him as she closed the door, a smile on her face.
"Bye, sweetie."
As soon as his mother closed the door, Mike jumped up from under the covers, fully clothed. He reached for the supercomm on his bedside table and extended the antenna.
"Lucas, do you copy? Lucas, come on, I know you're there! This is urgent. I'm serious."
Mike stood up from his bed, continuing into the walkie. "I'm not gonna stop until you answer. Lucas. Lucas!" He took a deep breath. "Lucas, Lucas, Lucas, Lucas, Lucas... Lucas, Lucas, Lucas, Lucas, Lucas, Lucas, Lucas--"
"Go away, Mike." Lucas had sat up in bed, frustrated as he extended the antenna.
"I'm not in the mood, all right? Over and out."
Before Lucas could close the supercomm antenna, Mike's voice had stopped him.
"No, not 'out.' I'm not messing around, okay? This is about Will. Over."
Lucas paused, not letting himself get his hopes up.
"What about Will? You mean about his funeral? Over."
"No, not his funeral. Screw his funeral!" Mike spits.
"What?"
"Just get over here stat. And bring Dustin and Y/n. Over and out."
|| 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐏𝐎𝐕 ||
I blink away the tears as I stare at the same wall my eyes haven't left since I woke up. Lucas saw me and Dustin off and made sure we got home. My whole body has been numb since last night. The image of Will laying lifeless on the gurney hasn't left my mind.
I never would have believed it but, I wanted more than anything to be at school rather than staying home today. Mom thinks it was the stress and trauma that made me sick today, but whatever it really is, she insisted I stay home.
I locked myself in my room as soon as I got home, Dustin had filled Mom in on what happened. She had woken me up this morning, apologizing and asking if there was anything she could do to help. But she couldn't do anything. Nobody could. Will, my best friend, is gone.
Apparently, I was burning up because Mom began freaking out when she felt my forehead. I didn't feel any different apart from grief and heartbreak.
"Alright, Pumpkin, I called the school and they know you're staying home. I wish I could stay with you but I can't miss another work day. I'll be back at the regular time, and you know what number to call if you need anything, right?"
I felt her hand rub my shoulder as I never broke eye contact with the wall. Tears were falling freely down my face, through my scalp and into my ears ears pillow. My left arm had become numb from laying on my left side.
"Mm." I couldn't even bring myself to speak.
"Bye, sweetie."
I heard her footsteps recede followed by the closing of my bedroom door.
I closed my eyes, trying to sleep. But every time my eyes closed I saw it all over again. Will being pulled from the water. I tried to push through it. But my mind began creating scenarios of how he fell in. Countless images of him stumbling over the cliff. Or even the horrific thought of his already lifeless body being tossed into the water by a faceless figure that I only assumed to be his murderer.
Countless, horrendous scenarios playing like a slideshow in my head and the second wave of pain washed over me as it felt as if someone reached into my chest and squeezed my heart into dust, while another hand punched my gut.
I rolled over on my back, I felt the anguish surging through my veins and all the way to my fingertips as a wave of anger erupted from deep within. I heard items fall to the floor somewhere around my room and I figured that in my fit I had slammed my fists too hard against my bed, shaking the room somehow.
I quickly dismissed the odd thought and the second wave of hot tears streamed down my cheeks.
My palms began to sweat as I felt my body temperature rise out of what I could only assume was anger. That must be where my fever had come from but I still didn't understand how that all happened.
I was angry my best friend was taken away from me. I loved him, and he was the closest friend I have ever had. And now he's gone. I still refused to believe it yet my mind was cruel enough to replay the worst moment of my life everytime I close my eyes.
Sniffling, I wiped my eyes and sat up. I couldn't stand being alone with anything else to think about and I looked around my room for anything to take my mind off everything that's been happening.
My eyes scanned the room and then they fell on the all too familiar mix tape Will had lent to me just months ago. A bittersweet smile had made its way onto my face and I got out of bed. I put the tape in the boombox and pressed play.
"Should I stay or should I go?"
I sat listening to Will's favorite song and I felt a different wave of emotion wash over me for once.
I think it was a stubborn hope.
