gonna start this out w saying i did mildly speedread through jojolion so i dont have as many big screamy thoughts

BUT!!! them!!!!!

their canon interactions r the cutest thing and even if they werent, id ship it solely to spite joshu

josuke is a million trillion times better for yasuho (not just bc of how joshu is a fucking freak and is absolutely the worst i would run him over with a dump truck)

i really like how they both r so happy around each other but i think my favorite scene w them is when yasuho has to explain to josuke that hes crying and hes just like :') yeah

but they have so so many cute moments and the ending makes them the only couple to make it out of this list

i love how yasuho is just like willing to drop anything to help him and how they help each other out a lot during the whole time (if im remembering right?)

their dynamic is just 2 sweethearts

also love the moment that hes like look away yasuho :) then proceeds to beat a man up

they r canon (as is everyone else sorry <3)

i dont read a lot of part 8 fic since i need to reread it to properly understand the plot post like chapter 65? so i dont have any recs or complaints

BUT i do have a few hcs!!

i think yasuho would get josuke matching phone straps or phone cases

and when they move in together, i think they would raise sugar gliders (or potentially kidnap squirrels from the local park)

i love all of yasuho and josukes interactions but oh man every time that josukes past gets brought up i do start bawling

they both mean the world to me and how their romance is just built on such a clear foundation of trust and care it makes me so soft

they both give off such dog ppl energy tho and i love that for them

ALSO ok the way that yasuho helps josuke w his memory and is always there for him

i will never ever ever get over them

but i think one of my favorite scenes is the one right at the beginning where she gives josuke his name and how that plays into the rest of the story with him discovering his identity but still clinging to the one that she gave him since it was him, he wasnt just kira or josefumi he was josuke

how do you explain kris' actions at the end of chapter 2? seems pretty huge for someone that is supposedly just a quiet lonely kid

theres a few different explanations i can think of, but toby fox is all about fucking with players & subverting expectations, so there is every chance he has something completely different planned that no one will guess. that said, heres what im thinking:

- first, we dont know that kris was the one who slashed toriels tires. all we know is that kris, after removing the SOUL, crawls out the window and comes back; toriel specifically states that they sneak out quite frequently, so its not abnormal behavior for them and i think she would have recognized them if they were who she saw. we dont actually see them slash the tires, so we cant assume anything. remember how the ending of chapter 1 made it seem like kris was going to go chara mode (with the knife & slasher smile), only to have it turn out they were just plotting to steal the butterscotch pie?

- second, what we DO see kris do on their own is open the dark well - but so far the dark wells have been nothing more than fun little romps for kris. there is some danger, sure, but at the end of the day kris gets to be the hero and fall into a world of brightly-colored escapism, away from the stress of their daily life. they dont have to worry about asriel or dess.

its true that they were given that warning by ralsei at the end of chapter 2 about what would happen, but i would say its within reason that they may not fully understand whats at stake here, especially since susie also suggests bringing the dark world residents to the overworld despite hearing the same lecture; its not like kris is acting unilaterally. kris is solitary, has few friends, and misses their brother and dess dearly. why would they NOT want to keep having those fun adventures where theres a neat resolution, and theyre surrounded by friends?

- this one is more of a reach, but kris being the only human is notable in this case as it seems that having ANY humans around is abnormal; there is a book in the library about caring for humans that toriel has checked out many times, and kris is disgusted by it & wont look at its contents. its not impossible that kris may have been subjected to some sort of discrimination in the past for being a human, and that thats why toriel was fairly calm when she called undyne for help instead of freaking out

ultimately i think writing kris off as just evil slasher kid is both super boring and ignoring a great deal of evidence to the contrary in canon - hell, even CHARA had more going on than just that, as asriel makes it pretty clear that theyd had some horrible experiences with the humans, and its strongly implied that the only reason they fell into the underground in the first place was because they were trying to kill themselves (the same thing is implied with frisk too). so i think theres quite a bit more to go off of than just the very basic explanation you are suggesting

im big romantic bc i love all the romance stories period dramas fantasy romances shoujo stories otome games... but i have discovered that in real life im.... much more sceptic and tsundere but this has been knew and grumpy. lol. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE... my bf is the one with a shoujo mindset.

I started writing in uhh 2013-2014 with semi-self insert stuff and VERY BRIEFLY with Takumi from Nana. i very quickly decided i wanted an actual legit OC, took me a few weeks to come up with her ( its ciri! )( i dont remember exactly how long it took but i do explicitly recall that i was sketching her, and thinking about how to form her backstory, bc i was still staying in my old bedroom at home at the time & now ive moved to my brother’s old bedroom, like i can remember the EXACT moment when i was playing around with designs and was like ‘oh this is it... this ise the one... yea i found my bABY ). My oldest muse is actually Fintan though! He was there even before Ciri, though not by much. Fintan isn’t that easy for tumblr so he didn’t get nearly as much spotlight as Ciri, or other muses that came after him. but he’s ( clutches chest ) so ...pwetty...

——— MUSE PREFERENCE! ♡

I definitely prefer OCs over canon characters. I think that’s pretty clear. It’s not necessarily that i cant connect with canon characters! I’m very fond of my only remaining active canon muse, Camus ( though he’s trash. ew. ). I also have some other characters living / lurking in my head. But I.... hate fandoms. Lol. With OCs i’m more free to pick my audience, because there’s no fandom tagging behind you. You have to seek out the fandoms yourself as an OC, most of the time. And I actually think that can be both an advantage & a disadvantage. Since I’m bitter & selective & old it’s an advantage for me lol; i get to choose who i follow without having fandoms i dislike constantly seeking me out. As for genders or archetypes, i dont think i have a real preference! though i do think its quite obvious from my other blog that i love the dark fantasy fairy tale-esque stuff.

——— FLUFF / ANGST / SMUT! ♡

FLUFF: i love soft content. it’s great. LOVE IT. but you have to work for it. it’s better if it takes some time for fluff to appear; i don’t feel a good connection with it if it happens too fast. ( hey i know... ciri is a bird... it makes her fluffy... so its easier to have sof things with her BUT i do prefer if sof things have a bit of a buildup )

ANGST: also LOVE IT. not angst for the sake of angst though. angst for the sake of development. angst that goes deeper than just one single thread and it’s ‘resolved’. angst that nearly ruins everything :’)). bittersweet threads; bittersweet ships. mhmhmhmhmhmhmhmhmhmhmhmhmhm good shit. i think also bc my first main ship partner tortured me with extreme angstiness, that i’ve built a relatively high tolerance for angst ( but dont take my word for that ); she’s trained me you could say. so. you’re free to expose me to angst :^)) i can handle it :^))) or... i will expose yOU to it instead... ( flexes muscles )

SMUT: i can write it but some characters are more receptive to it than others. ciri for example is not very interested in it so i will only write it up to a certain point with her. in general i prefer to fade to black once we reach a certain point -- though also i tend to go with the flow once im into a thread, so i might actually break my own rule there if it ever gets that far lol. or i can continue on discord. but in any case smut doesn’t happen much.

PLOT / MEMES: both are good!! i prefer plots or at the very least, discussing back-and-forth what can happen between characters, because that will also help me answer to memes. i love to answer asks or memes! but i do sometimes have a hard time responding if i haven’t chatted much with the mun / there haven’t been many interactions. i guess everyone has that issue. but! i also think memes are good icebreakers! so it kind of depends.... huh. what i especially love is when a meme is being sent & the mun adds a lil extra spice for context; it helps me to respond better to the meme :>

kinda wanted to think about pre-beacon weiss and whitley since in canon its pretty up in the air so i wrote this little ficlet to take a little break from work n stuff :D enjoy! or dont, its okay

Weiss felt tiny pinpricks of pain as the bandage above her eye was slowly peeled off, revealing a bloody cut underneath. She expected Whitley to gag or to at least wince at the sight- but nothing. His face remained empty, concealing any emotion that he might be feeling.

“You know when Klein does this it hurts a lot less...” Weiss cringed at her weak attempt at sparking a conversation.

“Too bad Klein isn’t here, then.” He didn’t even look at her, too busy wringing out a wet cloth. Weiss learned to tell when Whitley was in a bad mood. He doesn’t yell and break things like Father does- in fact it’s the opposite- he seems to resign into himself and quiet down. She was the only one who really notices, though.

He started to clean the wound above her eye, dabbing the wet cloth all the while avoiding eye contact. Weiss smiled hesitantly. “Hey! Be gentle, please.”

Before Whitley would have glared at her and snidely commented that she’s quite sensitive for a huntsman in training, but now he just muttered a quiet “sorry” before shifting his position on her bed. Gods. She wanted to reassure him that she was just joking, and that he was always gentle, there was no need to change a thing.

But she knew he really wouldn’t care either way.

Weiss sighed and wondered how she got here. Just two days ago she passed her fathers test, allowing her to go to Beacon. She was ecstatic- twirling her way around the privacy of her room and singing little hymns under her breath.

But of course, there was the issue of the literal wound on her face. But is it that bad compared to the amazing achievement that is going to Beacon?��Absolutely not. It was worth it.

However, there is another issue, one that Weiss can’t just simply brush off. One that won’t simply just leave a scar- but in fact might never heal: Whitley.

Weiss would be lying to herself if she didn’t admit that she’s been avoiding having this conversation with him. What was she going to say? Whitley, I’m going to go to Beacon for who knows how long, leaving you here with our totally healthy and non-toxic parental figures. Are you okay with that? I hope your okay with that. Of course he wouldn’t be okay with it.

The topic hung in the air between them with every passing second. She wondered what would happen if she just left it like this and went along her way- let Whitley sort out his own emotions on his own. Would it really kill him to at least try to be happy for her? Smile and congratulate her? No, instead he had to give her the silent treatment.

“Whitley-”

“Weiss, just don’t.” He lifted his arm to peel off the second bandage under her eye, but she grabbed his arm before he could.

“Are you mad at me?” Weiss winced at her own accusatory tone, but maintained eye contact. To her surprise, he narrowed his eyes but didn’t break it.

She continued. “If you’re angry at me, you need to tell me why. I’m not a mind reader- you know that right?” Of course she knew why he was angry at her, but she needed to hear it from him.

Whitley wrestled his arm out of her grip and scowled. “I just don’t see any reason why you can’t just go to Atlas Academy. Why do you have to go to a whole other kingdom?”

“Well maybe I don’t want to go to Atlas Academy-”

“Why not? Winter studied there, and you practically want to be her!”

“Oh”, Weiss couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “So now you refer to Winter? I thought you disliked her?”

“I do”, Whitley paused to lower his voice. “She abandoned everything she had to become some soldier, and now you’re going to do that too.”

“I’m not abandoning everything, Whitley,” Weiss was already regretting starting this conversation and her patience was beginning to thin. “I’m still the heir and I don’t plan on giving that up anytime soon-”

“Good then. You’d be better prepared to lead the SDC staying here than spending your time with those barbarians in Vale. Honestly, Weiss it’s not that bad here.” His voice took on a desperate edge to it. Weiss knew she had to tread lightly or else she’ll say something she might regret.

“Not that bad? You and I both know that’s a lie. I hate it here, and you do too, Whitley”, Weiss tried to hold herself back, but it all came spilling out. “Did you see his face after I defeated the Geist Grimm? He would have rather I gotten injured and lost than for me to win. Father wants to keep me trapped here and I’m sick of it. I want something more than this.” Years of pent up frustration and sorrow burst out of in those last words. Yes, Weiss didn’t really know what she was missing, but she felt it there. A hollow hole in her heart that needed to be filled or else she’d go insane.

“More than this?” Whitley’s voice was barely above a whisper. “What more could you want? We have everything Weiss. Yes, Father is rash-” Weiss couldn’t help but the chuckle at the massive understatement- “but he can’t help who he is. All of what we have, he gave to us. If you could just be a little bit more grateful, perhaps Father wouldn’t be so curt with you-”

“Grateful? Grateful for this wound on my face? Grateful for an alcoholic for a mother?” Whitley winced but Weiss didn’t want to stop. She couldn’t stop. “Can’t you see how he’s hurting us? How can you make excuses for him?”

Whitley finally broke eye contact. He seemed to almost shrink into himself, pulling away from Weiss. “But it’s tolerable, Weiss. Just as long as it’s the two of us, right? Father will pass on someday and we’ll still have each other.” He softly reached out and grabbed her hands, holding them in his own. “Please tell me that you believe that too. Please stay here. For me”.

Weiss desperately wanted to do exactly that. Tell him that everything is going to be okay, and that, yes, she will stay here with him. That she’ll do what a big sister ought to do and protect him. That she would never put her own needs before his. That she was content with just her and Whitley, against the world.

But no matter how many times she tried to convince herself of that, she couldn’t. “Whitley... what I have now, it’s just not enough.”

Now it was her turn to look away. She could feel his eyes burning a hole into the side of her face and his hands slowly let go of hers. She tried to hold onto him, but he snatched his fingers and placed them behind his back.

Away from her reach.

“Not enough?” He snarled. “Like how we weren’t enough for Mother to keep herself from drowning in a bottle? Or like how Winter didn’t think we weren’t enough for her to stay, so she ran off to become one of the general’s lackeys.”

“Whitley, it’s more complicated than that!”

“Its always ‘complicated’ when you’re the one who’s leaving!” He stood up, having completely forgotten about tending to Weiss’ injury. “You know Weiss, you were always enough for me. I only need you. I always thought that you were going to be the one to stay, it was never complicated to me.”

Weiss didn’t understand. She didn’t ask to be Whitley’s anchor, or to be the only person who remained. She just wanted to be happy. To be free.

And she could’t take him where she was going to get that freedom.

“Whitley, please...”

“No, just don’t ”, he moved towards her bedroom door and Weiss knew that she wouldn’t see him for the rest of the day. Maybe for the next few days.

“Are you...” Whitley paused, listening. “Are you at least coming to see me off?”

Silence.

“Don’t count on it,” He was barely audible, but Weiss heard him loud and clear as he walked away.

And he was true to his word, Weiss recalled bitterly as she left Atlas a few days later. She hadn’t seen him all day after the fight, nor any day after that. Not even to see her off.

as soon as i saw that a hunter x hunter musical from the year 2002 starring the OG 99 VAs existed, i knew i has to see this...so i set out and watched the nightmare of zoldyck (i would later find out that theres ANOTHER musical, which i plan to watch too)

luckily its all on youtube subbed! in 360 quality...oh hell yes lmao

ok i logically knew this was gonna be a musical but seeing the characters singing is like. a lot. THIS IS SO STRANGE

musical illumi is played by a woman which is interesting. shes got a good voice

i think they just panned to killua but it was so pixelated that i legitimately could not tell hvbadjkfbjkdsf

ah so the director of this musical also directed the sailor moon musicals, which i didnt know existed but of course that exists...thats funny considering the hxh mangaka is married to the sailor moon mangaka

anyways that was fun honestly!!!! i fuckgin love musicals, and musical adaptations of non-musical source materials can be like, SO different tonally, but this honestly felt like a fun filler

it was really interesting seeing something based on the canon from this early on - as i said above, some of the characterizations (like the zoldycks) seems a bit different than we’re used to, but others were spot on - like hisoka only showing up intermittently to sow chaos and do nothing else vhjkadhbfhkjdsfnj im assuming the yorknew arc hadnt happened at this point, but hisokas actions in this musical were hilariously similar to how he acted in the yorknew arc, so, props.

plus it was cool to see the ‘what if’ factor w/hisoka and illumi also being there, espec illumi interacting w/killua bc its so wildly different from how killua reacts to any of his other family members - hes clearly scared of illumi, in a way he isnt w/anyone else, and that was done well here w/the scene where illumi threatens killua’s friends to get killua to listen to him

also the angst was honestly great, and there was some REALLY sweet wholesome parts that i loved. and the music wasnt half bad either!!

i think the VAs did a great job playing the characters - hisokas VA was especially great (and i really loved kurapika too). gons hair was not very similar to how it looks in the show so it was a little more obvious that he was being played by a grown woman, but still a great performance.

anyways fun times, i love musicals and this was a fun ole 2000s filler shounen musical adaptation

Oh no,, you’re asking,,, about my own faves,,, sorry to everyone, but I guess im never going to shut up ever now. (i already don’t shut up ever, what have u done, im now going to speak so much that society will collapse AT LEAST)

But for real. I enjoy pretending I don’t have faves, I love all my kids the same, buT WE ALL KNO THAT’S A LIE, those two my fave bitches (they snatched that title from the last two faves, rip to them, and they also snatched, n I must really make that clear, the title of “the bitches with the most AUs from the previous previous faves. Their power.)

SO. Get ready for a ride, table of content: them, their respective character, their story, and the pLETHORA OF ALTERNATE STORIES I GAVE THEM because i must yell about all the versions of my kids i have (non-exhaustive cause its that serious bro, but ill take extra time for the universe depicted in that art just for u bby). (tbh if clamp is allowed to sprinkle their fave gays in all their universes so am i, except they aint secondary characters there, every story is just theirs. love that concept.)(itll be so long you’re getting a whole novel even if i have to post it in two posts)

So~ Em twos. Dari n Wei-wei as I call em, or Dumbass n Egg if you wanna get friendly.

They’re my proudest instance of “oops i made a squad of characters, and two of them just accidentally were so perfectly compatible and complementary oh no I guess they’re in love now.” And then they became my favourite. Cause I guess their potential was too much (jk its bc they hot)

I spent ten minutes wondering which to introduce first cause dang son, I want to talk bout them both so much shefjgfdg

First, as I technically designed him first (like ten minutes before the other), my man weiwei. if u ever saw my art its impossible that you havent seen him at least once. cause i’m legit always drawing him. cause im in love bro.

Demonstration : here are my computer scribbled weiweis of 2020 so far (with a few daris there n there they’re a package deal), that i could find, and they do not include all the paper sketches that i’m too lazy to take pics of. (i just been drawing him with so much hair these days that’s illegal, his brand is baldness)

But anyway, he’s CHEN Chia-Wei, he’s 21, he’s Taiwanese n I love him. Two very important facets of his character when you meet him: he doesn’t talk, and is absolutely, in every single dimension, built to make you fall head over heels for him.

He’s (in the “canon” storyline if i may call it that since it’s def not my most developed one but oh well) an art student, mostly paints but is also great at photography and videography (his vibe is busy hectic pieces with strong bold colours, lots of harsh edges, and very people focused).

Aside from that, he’s also super into fashion, and because he’s part of the rich boy squad (the “im broke so im giving half my characters wealth in compensation) he Can and Does exhibit some quite funky fits when he feels like it. (maybe a reason I draw him a lot, since my fave thing is pretty boys in weird ass clothes)(and then i also draw him in just casual shit cuz tittiful men in plain white tees you know. there’s just something about it.)

He digs music. (i make playlists for my OCs and i gotta say, his is the best one, i spent so many hours researching it, “arranging” it etc n its still a work in progress but dude. she got many moods my fave part is when it suddenly turns into so many cheesy ballads also she’s enormous cause im as wordy in playlists as I am in writing.) listens to a lot, n also he can play piano n guitar. cause you know. heartthrobs got to win your heart with a song (and if he’s alone he can even mumble some songs, who knows maybe even sing em softly, definitly a sight to stumble on accidentally). Big main artists that have his vibes are Hello Nico, No Party for Cao Dong, n Circa Waves’s “what’s it like over there” album.

He does a lot of sports. He ain’t fit through magic, rip to him. He’s got a serious routine, and it’s a time he likes to use alone, cause nothing like running at the break of dawn, alone with your thoughts, which you can just easily forget through the exhaustion of a workout session afterwards.

he also eats. A lot. Food is just good, bro. (the canon story is def happening some place europe aka his biggest struggle is how expensive food is here. outrageous.)

He secretly loves super cheesy movies. the dramatic romcoms??? the cute shows that are just so cute and worriless?? anything involving soulmates??? yeh dude. he watches it, he reads it, he listens to it, and he may cry about it, but no one will know. That’s the one true guilty pleasure. (and he definitly has a collection of romance dvds, books n manhuas in his old room back at the family home. where no one can see it. perks of studying abroad. no one can see ur hoarding of material that clashes your image. “yes i watch edgy experimental things haha yes i love those smart people movies of course wow the philosophy…” and then immediatly goes to watch the trashiest predictable but oh so sweet dramas all night)

While he doesn’t speak (as in with the mouth) he can communicate in a bunch of language, due to having moved around quite a bit. On top of his native mandarin and hokkien, he’s fluent in English, so he can use those to write, and is also fluent in TSL, and pretty good in HKSL (and from that, other close-in-syntax sign languages). So he doesn’t have trouble getting around, but then he is also overall quiet in public (with close friends and over text though, that’s another story, that’s where he gets chattier, and also where you may get more of his true personality). Also, he can speak with his sister. That’s pretty cool bro.

I was going to say he’s a very “hides his true colours under a shell” type of character but you know, for an egg character, that’s pretty ironic. We love poetic cinema.

He presents himself as a very laid back, chill detached dude, going with the flow and all that great stuff, and masterfully mixes just the right doses of mysterious, flirty and calm to just go around vibing. But ain’t that jUST THE MILLENIAL’S ILLNESS, those dANG KIDS, going around, gettin relationships but never intimacy 👏😢 (there’s more to it dont leave)

First of all, before you see the Drama, the Turmoil, the first thing you notice when you really do befriend him is that he’s c h i l d i s h, he gets sulky when things dont go following the plan, he gets whiny n jealous for not getting attention , he gets competitive over stupid challenges, and way too playful if you start teasing, and when he gets flustered too…you think you get cool stoic dude but actually you get a dude who’s reacting to things with way too much intensity, and boi i thought u were gon be mature what’s that why have you been pouting for three days over losing a bet come on- That’s mostly coming up when he interacts with his sister, but the closest you are to him to more of it you get to see.

He’s also an affectionate dude actually. Like physically. As in you’ll get spontaneous hugs. He’s come nap on your shoulder. That’s a perk of befriending him if you ask me.

Also he tries to look so cool, so tough haha. He’s actually a lil sensitiv boi. he gets fluffy, he gets flustered, he heart eyes. you turn around and he’s gazing at ya as if you were the whole universe. he gets a mini crisis for holding hands with his crush. ya know. he’s secretly a softie.

Then in the “what he doesn’t show” (my fave part), where you stock all the anxieties, all the trauma… Obviously there’s a lot of anxiety here (selective muteness being a symptom of it, he hides the other ones very well) mostly fear of inadequacy, of abandonement and of loneliness. mmmmmmmaybe that’s why he was v reticent to continue pursuing that one guy he was into when he realised he was just a tad too into him oh no is that some,, like?? some lovey-love?? cant have that im afraid of gettin heartbroken bro. Aint that sad for a someone who’s one true goal is just findin someone to love and to be with forever, the struggles of yearnin for a soulmate when there’s nothing you fear more than getting attached to a person and letting them see you and your flaws.., delicious.

Now tho (because its so alone speaking about a character on their own and i just wanna get to the part where i can speak bout em together and how they bring out bits of each others ya kno, the good kush….), Dari…

He’s pretty, i must say, and got the funniest hair to draw, and comes from the most opposite background to weiwei’s.

Darian Andriev PARVANOV, also 21, comes from the remote Bulgarian countryside, but i still love him (this makes it sound as if i wouldnt normally love someone from the bulgarian countryside. its not what i meant. by default ud remind me of my son so you’d start being liked if u came from the bulgarian countryside) Now for the first instance of “wow, the complementarity”. The first thing i thought making Dari was that he looked too cool, and that he obviously was a dumbass, and mostly that he was physically unable to shut up. (o fuck he’s me)

He’s ALSO an art student (cause they were initially created for the purpose of filling the gap of “i have ocs in every field except the one i sorta know that’s so stupid”), painting major (def vibes differently than weiwei though, he’s doing those soft pretty landscapes n flowers, everything real pretty and peaceful, we got some impressionism nerd in here folks).

He was/is a real country boy, farm family, he helped tend the fields, he worked in plantations for pocket money, he knows how to take care of cattle and chicken and goats and all the cool babies you can take care of, he can tell whether the soil is good or not, he can drive a tractor, and doesnt fear dirt.

but then also he’s kind of a neat freak, he hates getting paint on himself, so the duality of man, dirt ok but paint? disgostin. his spaces are real neat and spotless, he likes cleaning (its relaxing) and does it nearly too often.

his dumbassery comes from lack of common sense and impulsiveness, aside from that he’s actually what you’d call “mad smart”, dude had em good grades, he can memorise pages upon pages of the most trivial information, he has an accumulation of knowledge beyond limits, and is good at problem solving. so he can recite all the words of the F letter of the dictionnary, but would also put a curling iron in his mouth to see if it would curl his tongue. (side note, he does have a problem with heat n fire, most his “oopsie how i wound up hurting myself on acccident” story involve burning -that stove was just too tempting…)

while he doesnt feel very attached to his home country, he does feel strongly for his family. he’d do anything for his mum (and actually does everything to make her proud already, that’s his one main goal), and he’s ready to sacrifice a lot for her (as in, spend years working non-stop a really uncomfortable job so his mother wouldnt have to pay a cent of his expenses even though she said she could by doing some sacrifices herself,and then being ready to come back as soon as needed if anything happened, and potentially drop his career and dream n go back to the farm life to provide for mama)(also he still does hold onto some parts of his home country’s traditions, and does sometimes feel homesick but more in a ‘i left the most beautiful landscapes n the city feels cramped and claustrophobic and i dont know people and i dont feel in the right place cuz im a forreigner with a thicc accent who doesnt master the language of this place and straight up have different body language communicators due to cultural difference oh lord i wanna be home where a nod means no and a head shake is yes i keep misunderstanding everything”)

if you want background noise he’s the perfect pal to call over, he’s just so chatty, he got hours and hours of non stop speech ready for you. you can shut him up once you’re done listening with the offering of food. works everytime.

he’s definitly not shy. neither in terms of talking to people, nor when it comes to making decisions. he’s quite bold, and rarely hesitates to go towards something he wants. he’s direct in his approach to most everything.

he likes partying. mostly the socialising part, talkin to people is just fun ya feel. and being in the crowd, doing whatever, pressure free? ya can dance n enjoy yourself, and people wont notice? yeah that’s nice. but doesnt do it super often cause broke bitches aint got the party time n budget.

he likes arm. (just an excuse for me to drop this thing here cuz i like it)

While he’s an overall bubbly looking character, with a cheery loud personnality, he does carry some youth trauma that has him more reticent to engage in happiness, he comes from what you could call “not the wokest background” and he may have fallen victim of it : he’s kind of a flashy noticeable character, both physically and in his personnality, and doesnt exactly matches the expectations of dudes in the area he comes from (delicate, emotional and sweet guy? that doesnt exist bro). He went through it, and it has definitly had some impact on his confidence in many aspects. But he’s 100% the type of guy to put on the fake happy front because if feeling bad is sad, making the people you care about sad for you too is Unacceptable Right??? relying on friends?? what???

But then what are we supposed to be doing with such charming characters huh,,,

Make them fall in love obviously.

Their story obviously has to do with falling in love and workin a relationship cause if I dont write romance i literally die, but I make the center pivot of all of it communication, and barriers in communications. Most obvious being them coming from wildly different cultures, having different native languages, and also the ways you adapt to muteness (what i love most bout that part is even then they fucked up given the easiest quickest small body language things to communicate are head nods n then i managed to make one come from the one country that reverses those like iconic how do they even understand each other -through a lot of work and love bro) but also on more “introspective” points, how to say things that you are even afraid to think about, how to open up and share your burdens and trauma with someone, how to say words you’ve been convinced you weren’t allowed to, the inner turmoil of communication in short. And then also communication through art, and through alternative unusual ways. If i were snobbish i could call it something like “a thinkpieces on how humans overcome obstacles in communication, and adapt, all for the sake of pursuing love” but fact is its mostly boys being in love n learning how to speak, figuratively and also quite literally. And also its me having fun with making characters evolve from each other, be able to influence each other for the better, helping each other be more comfortable with themselves and express the true things of their personnality, and discover new aspects. I just wanna write intense and soulful love bro.

So in less concept and more facts, weiwei meets dari, dari being his puppy self just immediatly strikes a conversation and weiwei gets interested cause “oho nice pretty boy? very good. i want some of that”. they get closer because you cant fight off the Power of friendship (and also the power of “what your friend is bestie with my friend?? guess we hanging out”) and then friendship and interest turns into pining, held back by respective dread of what romance with the other would mean (as in “romance?? cant have that we cant feel” and “with him?? cant do that, convince yourself he’s just a friend immediatly what would the family think”) but eventually they do have to just crash into one another cause that’s just the gravitational pull bro, its physics bro. and from then on its all unlearning destructive behaviours, bettering oneself with the help of the other, and getting over trauma to finally live ur best life. and gettin fckin married bro they’re both cheeseballs theyll wanna wed

BUT MAKING EM FALL IN LOVE ONCE ISNT ENOUGH time to make 3894853 alternate universes about em.

Lets speak bout my fave of those for a hot second.

First of all, the one of the art that brought this ask, guess i could call it “Pretty Tribes” AU, bunch of tribes live and do their things, having nature and energy powers. Dari n Weiwei’s tribes are bros, the latter’s powers needing them to move around to get energy from different places, enabling them different abilities. So basically they get to hang at the other’s place while the regenerate energy from there, and in exchange they help them out with various tasks (dari’s tribe is a rly farmer oriented one, with plant magic, while weiwei’s got more poyvalent powers, and have very good healers notably, so it comes in handy). The two boys were born a few months apart in their respective tribes, so naturally, anything the two clans meet, they’re put together to play and all, and from that they became besties, and each time they meet, after the gaps of time separating the two groups, they feel more and more of a little something else~ story is themed round growing up, friendship between clans, their traditions and cultures, and pretty boys in pretty clothes in pretty landscapes interacting with nature.

The superpower AU, i fuckin love it bro. Its an old one, made for other characters, but i just love it so much that i had to inject my faves in it. Its got a grimy ugly setting, bad government, propaganda, and fights between super-people (heavily mediatised for entertainment and reinforcing the idea that “look at these evil villains thank god us the good government protects you from them”), with a side of bad ethics in science. In all that, those two have the role of “those two young enemy warrior and villain, they were so powerful and fought so hard”, public figures, legendary and admired by both sides, everyone followed their fights, til one day they presumably died in one of their showdowns. (haha sike they actually found themselves talking for 5 seconds and realised they lived in a society, n built a plan to run away). The main characters get to find they’re alive because one of em had history with super-warrior-golden-boy and go to seek their help to overthrow the Big Bads. (stealing them from their nice gay cottage hermit life smh so rude)

Mermaids. I like those. Sailor weiwei sees merman dari, they both save each other in different occasions, they grow fascinated with each other, they’re at sea, water romance. Amazing. AU made half cuz i just like water n fish. and shirtless sailors.

Indie band AU, where i was listening to songs that vibe so well with those two in general n then my brain was like “what if they’re the ones playing”. They’re (along with the rest of the art squad) a nice little alternative rock band, doing their thing, then one of their songs blows up, and they get quite the attention, to the dismay of dari who wrote that song in a moment of “oh no im so in love with my bandmate but i cant tell him what if i ruin everything we have going on ill just have to love from afar and deal with that” and now has way too many people interested in who he wrote it about and theorising from his every move when performing it (a mix of music, secret crushes and social media) (ft a picture of neither of them but its the least ugly art i found of this AU cuz its old and instruments are the bane of my existence)(also kelana is so pretty i gotta flaunt her around)

in kind of the same vibe, as in we’re in a music world overexposed to social media, i also integrated em to an AU i did for fun, “boyband AU” as its called aka idol based band system cuz you kno, i got a hobby, lets apply it. Band boy Dari and bodyguard Weiwei got a thing going on, but can’t really act on it in any way, because they’d just destroy the whole band if it ever came public. Featuring annoying bandmates, catchy pop songs and people making fanaccounts of that one hot Mr.Bodyguard cause dang he hot.

n those are my faves as far as i remember, i got a fuckton of small other ones that arent fleshed out enough, or some that are more of a guilty pleasure universe, and some that are more like “projects that i can expend on as soon as i run out of daydream material” (like u kno those hospital drama shows with super innacurate medicine n shit like idk scrubs or whatever, yeh i want some of that but im keeping it for later)

smut or fluff - smut makes me uncomfortable like. 95% of the time. reading smut is the closest i can come to tolerating interacting with sexual stuff, but like, even then, its only in certain contexts, and i dont really enjoy it. hurt/comfort tends to be where im at, but if i have to choose between straight up smut or straight up fluff, im gonna go with the fluff, even if its usually a bit too sickeningly sweet for me

canon compliant (missing scenes) or fix-it fic - i usually disagree with canon in my major fandoms, so i gravitate towards fix-it fics

apocalyptic or mundane - i only enjoy a few apocalyptic scenarios, and bc im a weeny, they cant have major character death in them, so usually its gonna be a mundane for me, between those two

lets see, i think not so much a full scene, but one of my favorite moments is when Yuuto asks Keagan why Keagan let him in if Keagan doesn't recognize him. and keagan just has the best expression while saying he wonders himself. it was such a great insert of comedy in that moment that i couldnt help but laugh. i also think it was kind of a great showcase for keagan's personality as well

ive also been enjoying how the recent chapter has been going. mostly with how its framed in that we never really get to see who i assume is ryo really. its focused on keagan and i like that it makes ryo seem a tad more mysterious

My favorite scene is definitely near the end of the content where Ryo starts freaking out/getting corrupted. I think it’s at that point we’re getting a sort of taste for a mood shift that’s going to be happening

I also agree I like that ryo is only seen through Keegan’s eyes right now. Solely focusing on Keegan’s perspective leaves ryo on a pedestal currently. I have a feeling we’re going to learn more about ryo later, but it’s smart to start us off through Kaegan’s eyes

i like how with the whole mood shift that ryo was super accurate in that he was spoiling the mood. i particularly loved when yuuto caught up to ryo cause at that point just the sheer imagery and what was going on made me feel that the situation was truly dangerous

Yuuto's attitude in general is pretty fun in my mind (okay if I play games?) but it definitely took a turn with the reactions towards the end. I think he didn't do his research on Keagan.

to be fair to yuuto its been like 16 years so ryo would be a poor source of keagan info and maybe keagan is an internet hermit who doesnt even have facebook

I think it’s an interesting thought that kaegan’s attachment to Ryo is a little selfish. It seems as though it’s literally tethering Ryo’s ghost from moving on and putting his spirit (and others?) in danger, as well as ruining kaegan’s own relationships and life. Kaegan does seem quite overly obsessed(edited)

It's possible. I wonder if Ryo was paying more attention to Keagan for a long time (either of his own volition or not) and only recently got his brother involved... then Yuuto didn't realize how bad things were.

yeah tbh i adore how grey it is. cause you could make an argument equally as valid in saying its selfish for ryo to ask keagan to move on. and i love that cause its what makes the conflict complicated and complex. cause there isnt one right answer cause you just cant make ppl feel things you want to feel at the drop of a hat.

QUESTION 2. While it’s clear that Keagan and Ryo had past history, a lot is left to question. How do you believe Keagan and Ryo met, especially considering their age difference? Why do you think Keagan crushed so hard on Ryo despite the age difference between them? Do you think the attachment to Ryo was born purely out of affection, or do you think there’s more to Keagan’s past that explains the attachment? Do you think the way Ryo died has something to do with why Keagan can’t move forward? Or is it something in general perhaps about Keagan’s past history with Ryo? Lastly, why do you think Keagan remembers Ryo so well but seems completely clueless about Yuuto?

Just feels as though the artist is fairly good at drawing anatomy of all sexes, not shying away from lgbt content, and yuuto seems intentionally more slender and androgynous. But it’s just a passing thought/hunch , I could be wrong

I guess I just assumed that the "would obviously know" part came from the fact that if you're obsessing over a guy for 15+ years, you'd look into his family. Come to think, maybe they met at the funeral and Keegan simply doesn't recall that.

Assuming that there was a funeral, and it's not a case of Ryo's body vanishing after being murdered by an evil demon that Keagan unleashed upon the world.

maybe keagan and yuuto were bestest friends, yuuto introduced keagan to ryo, and then keagan was like "who are you im busy crushing on this cool older fellow"

It's not improbable they (kaegan and yuuto) were friends first, and Kaegan just crushed real bad on the older brother, which would also make sense why it was so one-sided but they would also be hanging out (as he was probably hanging out with/chaperoning his little brother, and consequently his little brother's friends as well)(edited)

Maybe it's something a bit more supernatural. Like, Keagan tried some sort of "forget" spell on Ryo but it backfired so much that he forgot Yuuto instead.

albeit to this notion of keagan and yuuto being friends, we dont really see yuuto in the flashbacks so far so its also possible something else was going on. like ryo was keagan's tutor or something

im gonna go out on a limb and suspect that keagan did not have a happy home life

and thus the attachment to ryo cause ryo was an adult who was showing him kindness

QUESTION 3. The entire plot of the comic is essentially based around one question: will Keagan be able to move on from Ryo? What do you think is holding Keagan back exactly? Is it fear of the future without Ryo, true love, or some sort of inner demon? Do you think Keagan is sincere when he says he has tried to move on, or do you suspect self-sabotage? Even if Keagan gets over Ryo, do you think Ryo will successfully be able to move on? How do you even think Keagan might get over Ryo? Also, what do you think Yuuto and/or Suzy’s role if any might be in helping him move forward? Finally, do you have any theories in general for future events of the comic?

I feel like it's one of those things where after you move on, you're worried you'll forget details... which is true enough. But Keagan's got himself so tied up in it that he might forget things about himself. I don't know that it's anything external.

Also, I think Keagan might have tried to move on in the past, but after it didn't work a couple times he just goes through the motions now to appease others around him.

Not just memories of Ryo, but memories of how happy he was back then. Maybe the happiest he'd ever been?

in regards to keagan's sincerity in trying to move on, i actually think it was subconscious self-sabotage. so in that he was doing everything he was told mentally and physically, but there was that small tiny part of his brain continually whispering how nothing would ever be right again without ryo

There probably was some self-sabotage, or at least Ryo seemed keen on calling him on that.

Maybe Yuuto was guided to find the stone by Ryo...? Wait, no, because Ryo didn't even think it would work. We're not sure what any of their day jobs are, are we?

well yuuto said he was a spirit medium. albeit doesnt mean thats a career technically speaking. idk if being a spirit medium can pay these days without people staring and accusing you of being a fraud. or ya know if you get a reality tv show.

cleary the entire comic is just a tv show hoax so yuuto can become the most prolific spirit medium on tv

idk about seeing other spirits but maybe? i do think ryo has some idea about whats happening to him tho. cause i get the impression that its not so much the spirit ceases to be themselves as it is that they become engulfed in their own emotional vengence and can think of nothing else

Was it family tradition, a career choice for Yuuto to connect with spirits (and his brother by extension), or was it happenstance? Considering it’s been 16 years, why do you think Yuuto waited so long to come to Keagan? Did Ryo’s spirit only come to Yuuto’s attention recently, or did Yuuto feel no need to take action until Ryo was becoming a vengeful spirit? Additionally, why do you think Ryo has been stable as a spirit over all those years and is only now coming undone? What consequences would there be if Ryo became a vengeful spirit at the end?

how the heck did they even know its keagan's fault?

Given the need to have the stone, I don't think they'd be walking around semi-randomly.

I'm also not convinced that Yuuto is tying him down. Maybe he's just acting as an anchor, like, to keep you from getting pulled way over there to the dark places, hold onto a piece of me.
