If big party's weren't Peter's thing before everything knew he was Tony's son, they definitely weren't his thing after. Everytime he went somewhere with older people with money they just wanted to talk to him and did not let up, it made sense with the mystery that had surrounded Tony Stark's unnamed child for so many years but it was still at its best annoying and at its worst overwhelming. But he and Kate had gotten a long well when she helped with his holiday gift program, and then when they hung out a few days later she mentioned the party and asked if he wanted to come.

He didn't exactly want to, but she seemed like she could be a good friend and she'd also been so excited at the prospect of 'actually having a friend there' that he couldn't bring himself to say no. Pepper had seemed glad at least that he seemed to have made a friend who could help him navigate people knowing who he was at least a bit, and Tony had insisted that the body guard Fury give them 'on loan' come with. His reasoning was that Fury had already told him he was Spider-Man so if he had to find a reason to sneak out? Aaron could help and cover for him if needed, Peter just didn't like the idea of having someone Fury trusted close by.

When he spotted Kate he waved with a smile, and when he got closer and noticed her looking behind him at Aaron who was trailing back maybe 10 feet and trying to look like he was casually mingling he said. “Sorry I uh - Dad insisted I had to bring Aaron, did you meet him at the gift exchange?” He honestly couldn't remember, the event had gotten slightly chaotic after a certain point.
