Something About Those Left Behind.
Maybe each of them has a part of you after all, Mephone4. . .
ANALYSIS/THEORY RAMBLE IN READ MORE !!
Perhaps I'm going insane and it's the 4/5 am speaking but...
Each of them represent Mephone4 in a way. That's why they're the ones he left behind. This is why theyre the finale 4. This is why Taco is also here. This is important.
Baseball
He's more so a follower than a leader. Which is easy to say Mephone4 was a follower to Cobs.
He did what Nickel thought was best, even though Baseball even doubted the suggestions. Nickel always talked down to Baseball's opinion, and even used Baseball against himself at times. He needed Nickel.
Nickel wasnt the leader, yet Baseball was following his every word.
Mephone4 created the show, but Adam... Steve Cobs was always pulling some strings here and there.
Eventually, when Nickel was eliminated he felt so so lost. He had no direction, no where to go.
Mephone4 had no direction at first himself when he learned who Cobs truly was. He felt betrayed by the one who was closest to him. Hurt. So he fled.
They're both running away from the issue. The home they made. Certain people they should've cared more for and listened to. (Suitcase/Toilet)
Baseball is also the part that wants to get serious from what he fled from.. from what he lost... but could never really confront the problem until it's brought up to his face.
Similiar to Mephone4! But he took copium in a different route. Which leads to-
Lightbulb
LIGHTBULBBB... Ughhhhh!!!
She is all of Mephone4's suppression.
Focus on fun! Games !! Whimsy, silly!!
Distractions.. Lightbulb was sad and alone on the inside.. but on the outside, she is cheery and happy!! Nothing can dull this bright light! She's not even transparent !!
This can also apply to Mephone4. He runs this show to escape his problems, to have an escape from his worries and fears. Lightbulb symbolizes his anxieties by completely ignoring her own.
But that shell started to break once all of Lightbulb's companions were eliminated from the game. She was alone and disheartened. Her emotional support, gone. The lightheartedness was still there, but was breaking. All the pressure weighing on her shoulders, the pressure of being responsible. The pressure of doing good to her team!...
Similiar to the pressure of needing to be perfect. Generate this perfect, do this task right. Isn't it, Mephone4? The need to satisfy.
When she finally gets her crew back, she lights up again. Mephone4 needs this fake reality, because like Lightbulb with the Bright Lights, the contestants are his light too.
When Lightbulb comes face to face with MephoneX, she sees Paintbrush before the end, supporting her. Trying to help.
She accepts her defeat, her end, with a smile.
Mephone4 didn't have any support. He accepts his defeat with a frown. If he had a light at that moment, perhaps he would've been more confident.
Suitcase
Suitcase, out of all the others, is the only newbie left in the competition. She's been around the least amount of time.. she's new.
She's alone.
Sure she met Nickel, Baseball and Balloon, but as the final four, she doesn't trust Baseball anymore. Nickel and Balloon got voted out.
She refused to bring Baseball into the final two due to the issues of leadership and trust. Knife gave her trust and friendship, what true alliances could be.
Mephone4 trusted Floor in season 3. What partnership done right can provide you if the two parties actually accept one another. And are honest.
Other than this.. Suitcase focuses on the false parts of reality over reality itself since she can't figure out what's real or fake.. This can relate to Mephone4 struggling to let the show go.. this is his life, he doesn't want to leave it. Everyone here feels real yet he didn't realize til later that it's all fake.
One last thing relating to the two.. they're outside the comfort zone.
Suitcase is the one season 2 debuter that was left over. Mephone4 was the most unique out of all other Mephone products. They're a needle in a haystack.
Knife
Knife is a bit more hard to crack on how he relates as I dont have as much thought on him.. but here's some thoughts...
Knife overall is a tough guy. He focuses on reality more than fiction. He's a contrast to Suitcase, who struggles to piece what's real and fake.
In relation to Mephone4, Knife can act a bit smug. Mainly when it comes to his teasing with Taco in S2E15, it gave some kinda Mephone4 charm of messing with people.
He cares for people despite his fronting jerk attitude, being accepting and even providing advice.
The best trait Knife can be given is his major growth from who he once was. He was always a soft hearted guy, but he slowly learned to show that more often to the outside.
As for Mephone4.. he's also attempting this. It's just much harder for him.
Mephone4 has the constant show/host persona up, yet it is shown the contestants mean alot to him.. more than they could ever possible understand.
Like Knife, Mephone4 learned how to express himself just a little bit more..
Taco
Taco. Taco Taco Taco.
It's easy to pick up what she's about..
Betrayal. Wanting to leave it all behind. Staging an act. A front. Manipulation.
So much of this can relate to Mephone4 and his history.
Taco is all of Mephone4's guilt, thoughts, trauma and etc jumbled into one messy taco oc.
Taco put up an act, Mephone4 puts up an act.
Taco went into hiding, Mephone4 went into hiding.
Taco is British, Mephone4 is- uh... no he's not British. Why is Taco Britis-
Back to the point.
Taco is the most in depth character out of them all. Her whole story line can be pieced and compared to Mephone4's, at least in theming.
It all starts in season 1, where she's different from the rest of the cast. She's zany, wacky. But she also has smart moments. The finale of season 1 showed she fooled them all, planned this from the beginning.
In a way, this here can relate to Steve Cobs. Mephone4 maybe felt like he was being played the fool. He thought Cobs of what appeared like a father figure.. someone he could have fun and joy with. Later down the line, Mephone4 realizes Cobs wasn't what he pictured him to be. Which was a cruel person who harms others for his benefit. (Mephone3gs)
Taco also harms people for her own benefit. She betrays Pickle, manipulates Microphone, is a thief, kills Test Tube, and practically offers weapons at any given notice.
An innocent object who actually wasn't a friend at all. Someone who betrays others.
But unlike Cobs, Taco is much more than that.
Alongside Mephone4's betrayal of Cobs' true motives, Taco also fits Mephone4's overall rebellious actions against Cobs.
If Mephone4 ever chose to rebel that is. Mephone4 ran away, but Taco strikes back. She's probably what Mephone4 wished he could've done. Take action.
The moment Taco noticed Microphone leave the game.. she goes to convince EVERYONE to leave the game.
What if this was also a parallel to Meeple?...
What if Mephone4 truly wanted to help everyone there.. but he just couldn't.
In the end, the thought of Pickle finding Taco broke her down. The one who she hurt.. finding her here.
Mephone4 breaks down at the thought of everyone finding out. At the thought of Cobs finding him.
In the end.. each character Mephone4 froze in time and left behind...
Were him.
He was overall... running from himself. Not just Cobs.
Himself.
His story. His life.
Things outside of this show.
The two leaders. The two sides of positivity and negativity.
The two finalists. The borders of reality and fiction.
Taco. The outcast and desire of needing a change.
They're all for you, Mephone4.

Rating Kohl's Hanukkah Merch 2024
I went to Kohl's the other day to check out their Hanukkah products, and...it was a bit of a mixed bag. Some pictures are taken from the 'net because I only really took pics of the most egregious offenders.
First up, we have this Star of David...Christmas tree ornament? They had a lot of ornaments, which isn't really all that useful to most Jews. Sure, some Jews celebrate Christmas for one reason or another, and some even have some sort of a "Hanukkah Bush" which they may (or may not, idk what people do) decorate with Hanukkah-themed Christmas tree ornaments, but there isn't really much of anything for the rest of us to do with these except maybe hang them on our cabinet door handles as seasonal decorations. Aside from the fact it's a Christmas tree ornament, the Star of David itself is pretty nice. The random 5-pointed star in the middle of it...is not. 3/10 stars.
Next up, we have another Christmas tree ornament, this one being a dreidel. It would be a pretty nice dreidel if the nun (נ) and gimmel (ג)(pictured left) didn't both look like nuns. As you can see, they are very similar looking letters, and the picture on the website does show them both correctly, but something in their manufacturing process must be going wonky because the gimmels in the store do not look like gimmels. Otherwise, though, the letters are a) Hebrew letters b) the correct Hebrew letters and c) in the correct order, so. 2/10 stars.
Sticking with the ornaments, we bring you one of a bowl of matzo ball soup. Matzo ball soup doesn't have anything to do with Hanukkah; traditional Hanukkah foods are latkes (potato pancakes), sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts), and Hanukkah gelt (chocolate foiled coins). Matzo ball soup would be more a Passover food, if I had to assign it to a holiday, though it's really an every-day-of-the-year food. This is kind of the equivalent of having an Christmas tree ornament of an Easter egg. I guess, if your Hanukkah bush is Judaism-themed rather than Hanukkah-themed, it fits right in. Still, it feels like it falls into the same category of thing that brings us things like supermarkets putting challah on their Passover end caps. 4/10 stars.
Speaking of challah...
Same thoughts as above except that challah belongs with Shabbat, which you will definitely have at least one of during Hanukkah! Some years, you even get to celebrate two Shabbats during Hanukkah! 5/10 stars.
Not a bad sweater. I appreciate its simplicity, its lack of the same two or three silly puns relating to Hanukkah you see all over the place every year, and the absence of the raunchiness I tend to see with Hanukkah sweaters. Still, I'd much rather it be an actual sweater I could wear than a Christmas tree ornament. 6/10 stars.
Moving on from the Christmas tree ornaments (for now), we have a ceramic dreidel that is, for some reason, melting. This thing is big enough that, at first glance, I thought it might be a cookie jar, but it's probably just a bit too small for that. You can't see it in the picture, but, while all of the letters are written correctly, they are not in the correct order (right to left OR left to right). You almost had it, Kohl's. You were so close with this one. 3.5/10 stars.
This Hanukkah garland is pretty nice. It's got dreidels, Hanukkah menorahs, Stars of David, and doves holding olive branches. Except the Hanukkah menorahs aren't kosher--that middle candle should be offset in some way from the rest. And doves don't have anything to do with Hanukkah--that comes from the story of Noah's Ark, and, as far as I know, that story isn't associated with any specific holiday. 6.5/10 stars.
I'm not usually a big fan of these countdown calendars because they feel a bit too much for me like advent calendars. I know, I know, it doesn't have the little windows with little gifts inside, but still. And this one feels like the design could very easily have been repurposed from one made for a different holiday. What's with the giant candles in the doorways? Hanukkah menorahs belong in the window, not the door. And the fact that they decided to show "25" in as the number of days until Hanukkah...definitely a choice that brings me right back to advent calendars. 3/10 stars.
Ah, finally, some good Hanukkah merch. It looks like it could be a Hanukkah menorah, but it's really just a wooden sign that says "Hanukkah" against a backdrop of dreidels. No notes. 8.5/10 stars.
This piece of Happy Hanukkah artwork is very beautiful. It has everything--Stars of David, accurate dreidels, the words "Happy Hanukkah"...it even has a kosher menorah! Plus a lot of floral elements for decoration because sure, why not. Looks nice. The only thing is that the light-up element is all or nothing--you can't light just some of the candles to reflect which night of Hanukkah it is. If it could do that, it would get a full 10 stars (and I probably would have bought it), but since it can't, I'm giving it 8/10.
I'm throwing these two dishes together even though they're two separate products. You can see that they repeat the same motifs as the wall hanging. The plate on the left doesn't have anything Hanukkah-specific except for the words, "Happy Hanukkah," but the plate on the right has the same dreidels and (kosher!) menorah as the wall hanging. 7/10 stars.
What is a home decor department without at least one gnome? This one's done up in blue and gold with a Star of David hat for the holiday. It's also holding a lit Hanukkah menorah, which I don't really recommend unless you're just moving it from one spot to another (which you probably should have done before lighting it). I can't quite tell if the menorah is kosher or not--the middle candle does look offset from the others, but it appears that it's just because it's a longer candle rather than because the candle holder is higher up than the others. 8/10 stars.
And here we have another gnome, except this one is...another Christmas tree ornament. It says "Happy Hanukkah" on its hat, and the Stars of David have been moved to its robe. It's also holding a wrapped gift instead of a menorah, which. I'm going to be honest with you: at first glance, it looked to me like the gnome was holding a cross. Clearly, it's not a cross, but come on; the crossed part of a ribbon on a package like that is supposed to be on the top, not the side. Otherwise you end up with the ribbon being horizontal on the other sides when it should be vertical. I'm knocking points off for this gnome's lack of giftwrapping skills. 6.5/10 stars.
These cookie cutters are fine. They are entirely serviceable. But why is the dreidel pictured upside-down? It's not just this one picture, either--the other picture on the website also has the dreidel upside-down. I guess the photographer didn't know what a dreidel is? 8.5/10 stars.
I had something like this when I was a kid. In fact, we might still have it lying around somewhere, though some of the candles are missing. It's a neat wall hanging--the candles can be removed from their pockets, so you can arrange the wall hanging to reflect what night of Hanukkah it is. On mine, the flames attached to the candles with velcro, allowing you to "light" the candles if you so chose. On this one, the flames are sewn onto the candles, so they are perpetually lit. What I want to know is why whoever was in charge of taking the photos for the website didn't take a moment to make sure that all the candles (save the one in the middle) were even. It does appear, though, that the pocket for the middle candle has a seam maybe an inch from the bottom, offsetting that middle candle and making this a kosher menorah. 9/10 stars.
I don't know if I've ever seen a Hanukkah snow globe before. This one features a Star of David on the inside, with another Star of David drawn inside it for some reason, and the 9 candles of a fully-light Hanukkah menorah below it on the outside. Not being able to see the menorah itself, I can't tell whether it's kosher or not, but since the candle in the middle is higher than all the others, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. What I don't like is the "Peace love and light" written underneath the candles--there is a comma conspicuously missing between "Peace" and "love." Oh, and the snow globe plays the dreidel song when wound up.
I'd also like to take a moment to remind everyone that Stars of David don't have much of anything specifically to do with Hanukkah--they're a symbol of Judaism. So why we've got one front and center inside the snow globe, I don't know. There's nothing wrong with it being there, it just...isn't the symbol I'd choose for something specifically made for Hanukkah. 6.5/10 stars, mostly for the missing comma.
Now this. This is a Hanukkah snow globe. It's got two sweater-wearing cats playing dreidel in front of a pile of presents (clearly wrapped by the gnome ornament from above--you can see the way that the ribbon is weirdly horizontal on the side that isn't directly facing frontwards). The dreidel appears to be correct (though I didn't take the time to check all four sides of it in the store), and the presents are appropriately wrapped in blue paper (not that there's anything that says that you've gotta douse the holiday in the color blue...or anything connecting the color blue to the holiday at all, outside of marketing). Did I mention that it's cats wearing sweaters and playing dreidel? This snow globe also, of course, plays the dreidel song. 10/10 stars.
This company sure knows when it's got a good thing going. This throw pillow features the same design of cats playing dreidel as the snowglobe did, but more stylized and a bit cleaner. 15/10 stars.

imho (feel free to tell me your thoughts, whether you agree or disagree), the introduction of the angels spelt the beginning of the end for spn. by this i don't mean that nothing good could possibly come after; that's not true, there's plenty of good content after season 3. i mean that it dealt a fatal blow to the framework of the show. spn was not built to facilitate angels - kripke literally said that he used to have a "no-angel policy" in the first three seasons of the show (see bottom of post for link). despite being sci-fi/fantasy, at its core it was always a relatively small, intimate show. everything felt confined: within the us, within a select group of people. i know that sam was quite possibly always supposed to spell the end of the world, but the threat always felt so much more personal. sam and dean would be torn apart by something outside of their control, dean would have to kill sam - those were the stakes. it took their mom, it took their dad, their family tree was closing in on them, and with the way spn ditched characters quickly, it sometimes felt like they were the only two real people in the entire world. you could argue that those are still the stakes of seasons 4 and 5, just wrapped in apocalyptic packaging, and i agree, but it doesn't feel that way as viscerally as it could. they weren't supposed to deal with cosmic plots and religion beyond the spectre of it, sam having faith and dean not. the world was dirty and gritty and, all in all, shit. for all the audience knew, everyone either went to hell or just ceased to exist when they died. that's what the episode Road Kill was about. it brought meaning to the sacrifices that john and dean made when they weren't just preventing someone from being at peace in heaven. (although, to be fair, that allows for a different kind of horror; selfishly refusing to let someone go, even to a better place.) death was actually a scary prospect. everything was scarier because there was so much dark with no light, no counterbalance besides a handful of hunters. there was so much uncertainty, which bred fear. so, sure, the angels were douchebags, too, in the end, like everything else in the spn universe. but that doesn't change how much the world was expanded, how the afterlife became clear-cut, and sam and dean eventually ceased to be real, relatable people dealing with issues that, ultimately, resembled real life ones. crisis of identity, grief, strained familial relationships, child neglect, living in poverty, loss of humanity. even sam's story could have felt intimate and allegorical rather than literal if the show didn't pull out all the stops and throw itself down the pit of angels and demons and a ✨️ cosmic war ✨️ and everything that came after.

Jack - Astrological Birth Chart
This post is special and a little different from the posts for Alex and Nigel. I posit that Jack is a new, different person, born out of the events on the night that Nigel died--born out of Nigel's death itself. For Nigel and Alex, I chose their sun sign based on what I felt fit their personalities best, meaning Nigel was born in late February as a Pisces and Alex was born in early April as an Aries. For the rest of their placements, I simply chose signs that COULD exist (Venus and Mercury have to be close to the Sun sign, for instance), but I didn't bother with trying to get an actual birthdate chart. In other words: purely a vibes-based approach.
In this case, I decided to use a very specific day for Jack's birth. We know from the movie that Alex was invited to Nigel's house to attend the death of the Colbies on a Wednesday night at 8 pm. The seasons of the movie are wintery without being date specific. It's never the holidays which kind of rules out December entirely. Technically the snowy weather might be likely to put the final events in January or February, BUT the end of the movie imposes a specific time frame. Alex is leaving the school for good in summer (the trees are not at all autumnal, nor would autumn make sense for his departure). My guess would be late summer, like August. We know that it is 9 months later because the movie tells us so. 9 months before August is November. I felt very strongly that Jack would be a Scorpio. It is likely that he was "born" in the early hours of a Thursday, since Nigel would have had to go through the process of disposing of his parent's bodies which would have taken quite some time.
When I put all this info together to find a likely date for Jack to be "born", I looked at the Thursdays in November. And then I realized that the day the movie was released - November 9, 2006 - was in fact a Thursday. I felt it was too good an opportunity to pass up. So, I pulled up the astrological chart for that day, with a birth time of 3 am. What you see below are those exact placements. This movie (and Jack by extension) has a SHITLOAD of Scorpio energy, and isn't that really quite fitting? How could I resist.
Sun - Scorpio
Scorpios are known for their intensity. They are determined folk that absolutely throw themselves into whatever they do — but getting them to commit to something is rarely an easy task. In fact, it’s better not to even try to “get them” to do anything. Solar Scorpios absolutely have their own mind, and their primary motivation is unlikely to be prestige or even authority -- it’s real power. Their power can absolutely be of the “behind the scenes” variety, just as long as they have it.
Scorpios know what they want, and they won’t go out and grab it at the wrong moment. They simply sit back, watch (quite expertly), and then get it only when the moment is just right. This apparent patience is simply their powerful skills at strategy at work. They will confront the truth about themselves, as well as other people, if it will bring them closer to their goal. This need to face what is going on can come across as provocative or confrontational. Scorpios can appear controversial – even threatening – simply because they are seeking to expose the truth.
Scorpio isn’t afraid of getting their hands (their bodies, their minds) dirty. The darker side of life intrigues them, and they’re always ready to investigate. They often have an uncanny knack for sensing the subtle or hidden undercurrents in a situation. Scorpio is associated with desire, sexuality and release. It also relates to the psychological motivations which underpin human behavior. They often prefer to sit back to assess others first, watching what they are doing, how and with whom before deciding who it is they can trust. Scorpios tend to be very private people, and even the most extroverted Scorpio will keep certain things strictly to themselves.
They are very intense and have extremely strong feelings, which they find difficult to talk about because they are also very complicated. When they lose their temper, they get extremely angry, and they don't easily forgive the person who caused their fury. For this reason they have ambivalent feelings about many people. On the other hand, if they do love someone, their feeling is very intense.
They are very sensitive and their feelings are easily hurt, but they won't run off and hide if someone hurts them. Instead, they strike back and fight hard. They have a great love of the mysterious and hidden. They also want to know what is going on in people's minds, so they make an effort to learn as much as possible about human nature.
Sun in Scorpio/Moon in Cancer (combined energy)
You rely heavily on feelings and sensations. In disillusionment with mankind, you may turn to the occult and mystic for what you fail to find in more ordinary spheres. In love, too, you express your potent desires and tenacity of purpose. You have so little trust that it is difficult for you to initiate a relationship, but once you entrust yourself to one individual, you are devotedly attached.
Ascendant - Libra
They are likely to be attractive to others and probably popular. Instead of using force of character to persuade people to do something their way, they use charm. They like to dress elegantly, perhaps even flashily. They may develop an early taste for art, music and literature. Driven by a desire to live indulgently, they are usually lured in by a good time. They're natural stars—they know exactly how to have fun.
They may have symmetrical features, the kind that photograph like a dream. Classically beautiful features like dimples, kissable lips and long, elegant fingers can be hallmarks of this rising sing.
Libra is the partnership sign of the zodiac, and it's likely that this person is a serial dater—always needing to be accompanied by someone else as they go through life. The first impression a Libra rising gives off is someone polite, pleasing, friendly and easy to get along with.
Moon - Cancer
Their mother will have a great influence upon their life, shaping their basic attitudes and their ideas of what values are significant and what is worth doing in life. Emotional awareness doesn't necessarily come with an ability to control their feelings. Moodiness certainly IS likely. These silent-but-deadly mood swings can be incredibly unpleasant. Cancer moons can also be incredibly driven—provided the goal appeals to their emotional needs. Because their emotions are such a driving force in their lives, these individuals find it difficult to complete certain tasks if their hearts aren't in it. Similarly, once their passion is ignited, they're nearly unstoppable.
Mercury - Scorpio
These people are on an eternal quest to get to the very heart of any matter. This appears in anything that requires thought, and in almost every conversation they have. Totally fearless when it comes to delving into depths that nobody else wants, or even thinks, to explore, Mercury in Scorpio is adept at learning the source and the core of any problem or issue. They are blessed (or cursed, depending on how you want to look at it) with the observation skills of a surveillance camera, seeming to just see all and know all. Sometimes they can be quite “dark” because of their tendency to focus on the false in order to get to the truth. These people detest superficiality. They come across as suspicious and can annoy other, more optimistic people with their negative take on things.
When they are angry, they can speak very forcefully and their words may hurt someone's feelings. At least they are forthright and say what they mean. Their sense of humor is rather sharp. When they see someone pretending to be more than he or she is, they are likely to make sarcastic and biting remarks. Their intelligence is absolutely instinctive. Strategies are their specialty. Their idea of constructive criticism can be interpreted as destructive criticism, depending on their audience. It can be very hard to win an argument or debate with Mercury in Scorpio. They are absolutely driven to win, not just for the sake of scoring intellectual points, but simply to come out on top in general. Besides that, it is hard to deny that their thinking is really quite lucid, at least in presentation. You may be gritting your teeth, but it will be hard not to concede.
Venus - Scorpio
Their feelings about people are very intense; they either like them very much or not at all. Only deep relationships have any meaning for them. They find it somewhat difficult to tell someone that they like him or her, because they are afraid of being rejected. It is hard to put their feelings into words, because they seem so complicated.
They give you their complete attention. These people are very focused on their partners. Depending on your personality, you may find this unnerving or entirely flattering. They have a strong need to control their partner, although this won’t be immediately apparent, and they may not ever admit to this. Their body-and-soul love and commitment can be so intense that it eclipses fun and makes loving them a very heavy experience. Their emotion and intensity may seem overdone to those looking for a more lighthearted relationship. These people take things to extremes, and can be very provocative.
Pleasing Venus in Scorpio involves demonstrating your complete commitment and loyalty to them. If you can, and they’re deserving, relinquish some of the control in the relationship. Let them feel they own you, without taking it to extremes. Remember, though, that some Venus in Scorpio lovers can and will take advantage of you on a subtle level, if only to keep you all to themselves. Let them have their secrets and their silences.
Deeply passionate relations are desired with Venus in Scorpio. Superficial flirtations and contacts do not satisfy, as they yearn for “body and soul” contact with someone special–contact that breaks the taboos, that is extreme and intense, and that is unforgettable. This is a highly emotional position for Venus. It is a passionate, sensual, and intense energy. Their relationships are immensely important to them, and they may even feel that relationships consume them. In fact, they tend to want to be consumed by them! Although the basic drive is toward intense closeness, blind faith in their partners is extremely hard. Fears of being too vulnerable or of giving up their own power to others is strong. Scorpio is an “all or nothing” energy, and relationships tend to be somewhat of a rollercoaster ride as a result. Disdain for mediocrity and superficiality can compel them to create crises in order to feel alive and vital.
Libra Rising/Venus in Scorpio (combined energy)
Their ruling planet, Venus, is in the willful and passionate sign of Scorpio, suggesting an emotional intensity, a depth of desire and of feeling which is belied by your surface equanimity: you appear mild and conciliatory but possess surprising drive and tenacity, especially regarding your loves. Intimate relationships are not only a tremendously impatient means of fulfillment and self-expression, they are also, for you, a crucible. You have a very exotic and creative force which can turn destructive and negative, bringing you (and others with you) down. Beware of allowing yourself to be ruled by those to whom you have a passionate attachment, and/or of wielding your own attractive powers to manipulate others through their desire for you.
Mars - Scorpio
You have a strong will, and you let everyone know what you want. If someone makes you angry, instead of blowing up right off, you go into a slow burn. People know you are upset, however, because you are likely to make sarcastic and biting remarks. But also the intensity of your anger, even though it is held in, may be rather frightening to others whose emotions are not as strong as yours.
Mars in Scorpio natives love to challenge themselves to do the impossible. They throw themselves into what they decide to do with concentrated energy and awesome willpower. These people make formidable opponents, although often quietly so. They keep their cool and their equilibrium on the surface. Below the surface may be another story, and they are unlikely to easily let you in. Mars in Scorpio has the potential to exploit others–they see through others and rely heavily on their gut feelings.
Mars in Scorpio people are attracted to taboos, and their fantasies may involve blowing the taboos to smithereens! They enjoy scenarios in which the “other” is giving in to them, wants them completely, and will do absolutely anything for them. And, their sexual appeal is strong enough that they generally do get what they want.
These people constantly test themselves, and, often, others. They make all kinds of rules and goals, just for the personal satisfaction that comes from achieving or mastering them. Their survival instincts are strong, and they embrace their own animal nature when they are all alone with themselves, without guilt. These people have a provocative quality to them.

What compels you about Baatar Jr.?
Oh goodness, I do love talking about why I like him I cannot lie! (foreshadowing for the length of this, I come back to ominously warn retrospectively..)
Honestly even back when the show was initially airing, he was a character I always liked. Being big into anime in middle and high school I was 100% a "megane man" enjoyer lol which is just to glasses men XD (they get a special genre title because they are apparently very popular in Japanese anime communities which honestly, based) so that was the first thing (not to mention he's voiced by Todd Haberkorn who I knew from anime dubs since he's in so many).
But okay so what I find compelling about Baatar. I think he had such potential to be a very interesting character and one that could have been really put to use in the story. He had such interesting groundwork to me, especially in tandem with Kuvira. You can always trust me to stan the troubled eldest sibling lol, in Baatar's particular case I call it "eldest sibling inferiority complex" (idk if anyone has coined that phrase but I'm claiming it until proven otherwise) but it's something I relate to a lot. Baatar being the first "heir" essentially of the metal bending capitol of the world, founded by the metal bending daughter of the inventor of metal bending itself Toph Beifong, and he isn't a bender in any regard is something I think about way too much, I don't care whatever way you slice it I know that must have SUCKED for him because he was just.. inherently kind of a disappointment? Like he came into the world with the "Oh, shame he isn't a bender." tagline on his life. And then the brother he gets soon after IS a metal bender which I can imagine practically felt like an instant replacement because he wasn't "enough". Ofc that may not have been why Su and Sr. had Huan but I can see Baatar feeling that way. Then the twins ofc have metal bending and Opal later on gets air bending and he's just pushed further and further into irrelevance in the family. Like history will always talk about the Beifong family, the inventors and masters of metal bending, Suyin's younger sons all being prodigies in their own right, her daughter later being blessed with air bending, but what would ever be said about Baatar? He was just "the one who was a non-bender". I thought so so much about how being in a position like that would feel. And even the framing of the writing of the show itself always felt so dismissive of him. When Su is introducing all her kids he gets the least mention, no one ever says his name even, he only has 3 scenes in the entirety of season 3 and only in 1 is he even animated. It just always felt rather sad to me, he really was in line to just become the Beifong family's forgotten son.
I've talked about how I wish something had been said with Baatar and Huan and how starkly contrasting they are. Baatar feels trapped in his father's shadow with nothing of his own, not his own name, nothing of his own to leave an impact with and just quietly relegating himself to the background, meanwhile Huan is so obsessed with his self expression and individuality. I can imagine Huan seeing Baatar and how miserable he was when they were younger and not wanting to end up like that so he takes a hard turn into the opposite direction.
I really think Baatar was the perfect character to bring back the discussion of disparity between benders and non-benders, from a villain standpoint of course, because he is a character who- even from his seat of clear privilege, still has to deal with the effects of it. Like the world of Avatar really is for benders and non-benders are just allowed to live in it. I don't think Baatar actually wants bending, I actually think quite the opposite. I think he just doesn't want to be seen as lesser than for not having it, and prove that he doesn't need it in his life. That's why I love the setup of his relationship with Kuvira so much. I genuinely think the two of them were accidentally written and created so perfect for each other and the writers just.. did it by sheer accident and didn't even notice and thus squandered them completely. They give each other exactly what the other needs. Kuvira wants acceptance and to feel genuinely wanted which Baatar gives her, and Baatar wants recognition and to feel appreciated for who he is and that's what Kuvira gives him. She is one of the most skilled metal benders in the world but grew up in a family that didn't want her or care about her (ignoring Ruins entirely, Ruins of the Empire my beloathed), and Baatar grew up in one of the richest families in the world, the family whose whole identity is metal-bending, born into the lap of luxury but was still written off somewhat because he was a non-bender and thus the family legacy really didn't have anything to do with him. And when Su takes Kuvira under her wing they're both living in what is considered a "utopia" but are both still unhappy because they always feel "outside" of it, and they are able to relate to each other in that way and validate each others' feelings. Having Kuvira choose him- someone considered very remarkable choosing someone most consider very unremarkable, and him being the first person to ever genuinely truly want her and all of her is my Roman Empire, it is the hill I will die on. Like idk how the LoK writers had all that literally right in front of them and chose to do nothing with it, it bothers me so much lol.
Baatar descending (ascending truly in my opinion lol) into his villain era when he is finally away from home because he is reacting out of spite, paranoia, and existential dread because this is his chance to be known for something in his own right and not for anything to do with his family and slowly becoming the instrument of his own destruction is my bread and butter, I love it so much. I hate the fanon that he left Zaofu only to pad after Kuvira, I truly think he saw his one chance to leave with someone he cares about and financial stability and took it. I don't think he's very altruistic, like if I'm being frank I don't think he gives a hoot or a holler about the Empire itself LOL like he is absolutely here to support Kuvira and help her achieve her goals but to him the Empire is just something he can cultivate to facilitate himself and his needs. It's more of a symbiotic relationship to him where he'll always prioritize himself but will do what he needs to to keep the host happy. I do think that when he initially left he DID have good intentions they just were also very self serving, and then as time went on he leaned further and further into the self serving and see's himself as "doing the right thing for them because it is the right thing for me so no one can get mad :)" lol like yes darling, you are the moment, give us everything and nothing. I love love love the thought of him really leaning into the fame and attention because he's actually getting recognition, people are interested in what he's doing, he has the facilities to work on things he wants to work on, and can really just do as he pleases. One thing you will not see me do is say that he was trying his best for the Empire's sake the whole time lol like the man truly was out here in his Applause by Lady Gaga era. The idea that he does in fact do good for the people but for selfish reasons is just so funny to me. He's like "Do you think I'm out here bringing running water and irrigation to rural towns out of the goodness of my heart? No bitch, I'm just not about to get giardia in the name of freedom." LMAOO like yeah he is a little bit wretched but I'm still stanning, I'm still streaming, my shower is working so I have to thank him. Like I do genuinely find the idea of "guy who is doing good things for selfish reasons but is still doing good things regardless" very interesting to think about. Like what does it matter where his heart is at if he's still doing humanitarian work because it provides him in return with accolades and material wealth lmao. In his case though I can see him melting a bit when he sees the good impact his work can have but he has to keep up his big sassy bitch face bc he has a reputation to maintain.
Also withing the Empire era, that is like my peak Baatar contemplation era because wow it was so rife with potential for him. A non-bender being second in command of what was probably the biggest military force in the world at the time must have been an insane line for him to walk. Because all his authority is superficial. Because Kuvira gave it to him and for almost no other reason. No matter what he does, he will always be weaker than the weakest bender inherently, but he still has to command respect because everyone KNOWS THAT. Him walking through their camps he literally has his life on the line at every second because anyone could just decide to kill him at any moment for no reason and there's nothing he could do to defend himself. So he has to be smart, he has to be scary, he has to be mean, he has to be intimidating because if he doesn't he has nothing else to shield himself with. He can't let his anxiety over it show either because every bender would be able to hear it through the ground. The idea of Baatar having genuine anxiety regarding benders all his life is something that is so important to me. Even in his own home, his heart rate couldn't be something that was private. I love to hc that he quickly learned to become an Azula tier liar like you could never catch him lying because he needed to learn how otherwise his own emotions couldn't even be private. Aiwei could never catch this man and he hated it so much lol Baatar loved every second of it. He would just say lies to Aiwei's face and they both would know he was lying but Aiwei couldn't ever really know and it made him so mad.
I really do think a lot of what Baatar does comes from a place of genuine hurt, and wanting to feel like he has some form of control in his life and he expresses it through anger because his anger is the only power he feels like he has but he lets it eat away at him until he just has this void in him that will never be satisfied. He wants his family to understand how he feels, why he feels so hurt, and for them to acknowledge it, but he needs them to realize it themselves without him saying it because if he has to tell them then it must not be real. Plus how could they understand when they're free of the experience that makes him feel this way. They'll never know that feeling of being a disappointment on arrival. Opal did, but she's beyond it all now. Thinking about his relationship with his father, I think he actually loves his father so much, he was a daddy's boy from day one and still is, he wants his father to feel similarly as himself, not the anger but just acknowledge that "yes, the world really does revolve around benders, and it's okay that you feel scared and unnerved by that reality, there's nothing wrong with your feelings it's okay for you to have them" but his father doesn't feel that way and Baatar takes it as almost a kind of betrayal. In his mind he needs that shared experience because it tells him that if someone else feels like this then his feelings are real and he isn't just making shit up, he can feel that way even if he never acts on it, just knowing someone else feels the same. He doesn't go about it in a healthy way at all and I am by no means defending his actions or blaming his family for everything bad that he's done, you'll never catch me doing that, Baatar 100% engineers his own downfall by choosing to feed into his anger for catharsis. The fact that he did everything he ever did because he didn't want to be forgotten by history, only to get his wish, he'll indeed be remembered forever, but remembered as the engineer of monstrosities is the perfect poetic irony to me and his most perfect kind of villain arc in my eyes. He is so consumed by his anger and paranoia. His fear of being forgotten by time because to him being forgotten means there was never any point to his existence to begin with.
Also okay yes let us briefly discuss my buff Baatar lol I do have reason for it I swear! So okay yes, I do that for me because I love big beefy glasses men okay, sue me, i am indeed an animal in that way. But also I do think it just kinda makes sense for him??? Like he is someone with some clear anger issues and exercise is in fact a very good way to relieve anger and stress. I think it's funny that he just gave that a try because he needed to vent his anger on something and it became his primary anger management and now he's just massive lol but also this is also him making a statement of like "I can take my body even this far but I'd still always be at an inherent disadvantage", he'd have a lot of reasons for doing it- his own vanity, his self-esteem of always feeling unimpressive or unremarkable, wanting to feel like he could in even the smallest way be something of a protective force for Kuvira. Plus him having the kangaroo effect on people between seasons 3 and 4 is so funny, where when people think about kangaroos they're like "aaw cute lill hoppy fellas c:"(season 3) and then they actually see a kangaroo and are like "bitch what the fuck is that"(season 4) lmao like have you seen how jacked kangaroos actually are? Everyone is like "Yeah we know what Baatar looks like" and then they see him for the first time in season 4 and are like "Who the fuck is that?" LMAOO Also yeah he just looks nice that way to me.
God I just scrolled up this to see where I was at and this ended up way longer than I intended alksjdf I'll stop myself here I'm so sorry, I just truly cannot Shut Up about this man. He genuinely means so much to me. For so long I didn't talk about liking him or did any art of him because in the early days of the fandom and even relatively recently, the hate for him was so... vitriolic and cruel it genuinely made me so uncomfortable. I'd see rare pieces of fanart of him and the comments would always have people expressing their hate for him in them, I've even gotten comments like that on my own art. It really has always baffled me tbh, even the writers and Bryan himself are not shy about talking about their hate for him, one of the s4 episode writers called him "the worst character in the entire franchise" and it just hurts my heart so much. Like they wrote him already down and just continue kicking him while he's there like they weren't the ones who put him there. In that way Baatar's spite and anger feels almost all encompassing as corny as that sounds. I just love angry sad men and Baatar is the angriest saddest man of my heart haha if he has no fans I am dead. I really cannot express how much it means to me to hear that people have become to like him more because of my portrayal of him, I've even had people who used to hate him tell me they love him now because of me and I truly could cry about it, I really could.
#Ask Matsu#LoK Thoughts#Baatar Jr.#[ if you read this whole thing I appreciate you so much lol#I really did just start typing then blacked out and when I came to there was all this :'D#I now really embrace my love for him he truly is my guy#I can safely say he is my favorite fictional character of all time#no other character holds the place in my heart that he does and yes I'll say that with my whole chest as ridiculous as that sounds haha#me at Baatar: you're beautiful you're amazing and you never did anything wrong my darling you're a star#Baatar: has done so much wrong has created horrors beyond imagine in fact ]

Voltron: The Series
So I wanted to make a big post about all the animated Voltron's because I'm neck deep into this series and I must yell about it In total there's five (5) animated Voltron shows, technically four (4) since most focus on the lions. I tend to explain a lot so for my own sanity I'll be splitting this up into multiple posts which will all link back together Dotu/VV (here) - V3D - VF - VLD
Word vomit under the cut <3
In the 80s 1984 is when American audiences first said hello to Voltron! Originally it was an anime called Hyaku Jo Oh Goraion, or Beast King GoLion, from Toei which was mistakenly handed over to World Events Production (WEP) after they vaguely asked for the anime with the lions in it. Soon enough it was renamed Voltron: Defender of The Universe (dotu), dubbed and edited, and became immensely popular, giving us the legend we all know and love! Most iterations of Voltron after this follow the same plot, except for VLD which is a hard reboot and its own series that will be talked about later. In Dotu, the legend is of five (5) space explorers who crash-land onto planet Arus, find Voltron and use him to defeat the evils of the universe. Those five (5) being Keith in Black, Lance in Red, Pidge in Green, Sven in Blue, and Hunk in Yellow. The show is fairly episodic but as it's being adapted from an anime it has some story beats too it, like how Sven became critically injured which led to Princess Allura stepping up to take over blue lion, or the plot with her distant cousins Princess Romelle, Prince Bandor, and Prince Avok of Pollux. The show was so popular that WEP had eventually commissioned a season 2 to be animated from another company as Golion ended at only season 1. Which had some changes to color pallet, overall tones, and even relationships from season 1.
That same year Vehicle Voltron (VV) also came into existence! Also adapted from an anime called Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV or Armored Armada Dairugger XV which has no relation to the Golion anime at all! The gist of it is that a team of 15 pilots explore the edges of the universe to help find new habitable planets to curb the fast-growing population of planets part of the Galaxy Alliance. The group is split into three teams. The air team whose commanded by Jeff, the sea team whose leader is Krik, and the land them whose led by Cliff. They all report under Commander Hawkins who's leading the expedition and the explorer itself. As the anime isn't connected to Golion/Dotu, WEP found creative ways to show that relationships! The main way is that fans were introduced to Pidge's twin brother Chip, another scrappy young kid with glasses who happens to have anger issues, he mentions this connection in one of the episodes "Letters to Home" where Chip waits for Pidge's letter to get to him.
For the last little bit of this, Dotu and VV have got themselves a movie! This is a purely WEP/American creation so no ties to the animes anymore. It's called Fleet of Doom which brings the two Voltron together and explains their pilots' histories while having a side plot that is pure KA fodder. Unfortunately we haven't gotten anything big like this again but in Voltron Force specifically we did get a call back to Vehicle Voltron

This is an Empires Ace Attorney AU ask
Could we have a lil summary of some of the cases??? For brainrot?
OOH SURE!! GRINS I'm less into empires but i still really enjoy the AU ehehe gonna put this under a read more because I'm gonna summarize a good amount of stuff
Case 1 - The Sunken Turnabout This is Jimmy's first case! The defendant is his sister Lizzie, (their designs and plot is more based on their season 1 selves and some season 1 exclusive characters also appear... also i never finished season 2) and Jimmy's co counsel is his mentor, Pixl Riffs. Pix is a fairly famous lawyer, but there are a lot of rumors surrounding him and his methods so some people are hesitant to trust him. This one is the one most based in season 2, as the victim is False Symmetry! She hit her head on the bottom of Lizzie's swim team's training pool and drowned, and it is believed that Lizzie had pushed her in during an argument about False falling behind in their practices. Also, Jimmy gets some suitably dark and spooky flashbacks because ✨ courtroom related traumaaaa ✨ it's eventually proven that the victim was not False but her twin sister! They were both swimmers, who competed for a spot on the olympic team. While False got on the team, her sister grew resentful of this and made her move when her sister broke her leg, cutting off her communication with the team and bribing her doctors to be able to replace her. After her leg healed, False confronted her sister about this and ended up pushing her into the pool where she became concussed and drowned. (I don't know their lore completely but I thought this would be fun ehehehe) Despite being proven innocent, the swim team ends up dissolving and Lizzie calls Joel, who is away on a business trip, telling him that she just lost her job. He decides to come home for emotional support and books a flight in a few days. Case 2 - Turnabout Beacon This is the "main case" I have the least thought out, so sorry about that! If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear em. Pix goes to pick Joel up at the airport and brings him to their apartment, calling Jimmy and Lizzie so they could meet them there. When they arrive, they find that Pix has been killed and Joel is laying unconscious next to him. As Pix was killed by multiple gunshots, a neighbor overheard and called the police, accusing Joel of committing the crime as he was the only other person in the apartment at the time. This case is also the introduction to Scott and Shrub, two main characters! I feel like it'd be fairly similar to turnabout sisters, but I got no idea who the killer would be. Maybe one of the hermits? The downside of empires here is that the cast is small enough that a lot of characters end up not being from the series itself.
Case 3 - A Certified Turnabout
After getting to know Shrub better through the previous case, they decide to help Jimmy cheer up by introducing him to their friends and having everyone go out for lunch together. Because these characters can't have nice things, this obviously goes wrong. When going to pick up Katherine at her workplace, a flower shop, one of Katherine's coworkers is stabbed in the neck with Katherine's flower cutters and Katherine is accused of the crime. In the storage room for the shop, the true killer hid out and attacked the victim when she entered. After stabbing her in the neck, she heard Oli gasp and grabbed the body, holding the scissors and her hand and chasing him away to make it look like she was going to attack him too. I have an idea on who I want them to be, but I'm not too familiar on either of their content as I want this case to be more based on Afterlife SMP which included a few ccs who I'm unfamiliar with, including both of them. This case also has a moment like in turnabout samurai where Scott gets to help take down the killer! In the end, Katherine is acquitted and all is well. Shrub is also officially on Jimmy's side from now on and tries to help him whenever they can!
Case 4 - Turnabout Twins
This case is where stuff gets real. fWhip is murdered in the middle of the night in a closed library and the only one inside when it opens is Scott who is immediately arrested. Jimmy offers to defend him and initially is declined, but soon Scott decides to accept his offer as there's pretty much no one else that will help him. Lizzie and Joel both act as assistants here, same as in the last case. Lizzie is co counsel during the trial and I want Joel to be able to help with investigations in some other way. There's a lot more to the case and it gets into people's backstories a lot more from here on in!
While I'm not gonna divulge everything from here on out, I like to be vague ehehehe and I don't want this post to get too long, I will say I plan on 2 more cases and then the big finale one that delves deep into the backstories of Jimmy, Lizzie, Pix, Pearl, and characters introduced in that case (a lot of them are from the life series). The last 3 cases will also have a different prosecutor and Gem will get to help out as a sort of assistant for them as well! If you have any more questions I'd be happy to answer! :DD

Aldnoah.zero wasn't that good, lol.
Long have I held Aldnoah.Zero as one of my all time favorites (as well as the primer for my love for Mecha anime), but after this last re-watch, I've got to say, It's not that great as I remembered.
The first season by itself was pretty contained, topped off with a crazy cliff hanger. Sick fights with impossible odds debunked by logic and intellect, I ended up learning a little bit about science from the show too. The characters were somewhat likable, no real downers anywhere in the cast, and everyone had some sort of connection to each other. The plot wasn't THAT convoluted, and there was little to no fanservice!
The second season, however, took the original cast, put them all on the character development back burner, introduced a whole bunch of new characters (all of which who ended up dying, or being forgotten about in the epilogue), and gave us a bunch action sequences with little impact to the actual plot.
SPOILER SECTION
I will admit, many of the fights were pretty cool (the laser vs. artillery one was one of my favorites), but it felt like they all meant nothing. When Slaine destroyed the UFE space station, it seemed to have little to no repercussion to the UFE. When the 3 Counts that teamed up seemingly lead to nothing, there was no shakeup for the new Earth Space Empire. We keep seeing (AND HEARING) that the UFE are using the Deucalion as pawns, but literally nothing is being done about it. Realistically, yes, I see why you couldn't particularly trust Deucalion, but it's a plot point is brought up every other episode that adds nothing to the final product. It's like they're giving screen time to characters that don't really need it.
END SPOILER SECTION
Which brings me to my next point. WAY too many characters, and too LITTLE backstory for me to care about them. The main cast is still around taking up screen time, and the new cast is trying to make sure that we care that they relate to our protagonist in some way. It's too many characters with not enough runtime. Maybe a flashback to their supposedly rough lives would have made me like them more, but as it stands, I find it hard it hard to care
One new character that is generally dislikable got a solo bath scene too, which is.... fine... I guess... but it's like they were trying to make me care about her with her boobs personality. This is the scene where we see her (quite literally) reflecting on her goal, and placing this scene with in a bath left little to the imagination, and little to be desired. It only took away from her pain. It seems that they used fan service to get my attention, and I can probably say this safely because there is no fan service at all other than one beach sequence at the beginning of the second season.
SPOILER AGAIN HAHA
This could all have been fine... if it wasn't for the fact that the final battle between our two main characters got DEUS EX MACHINA'd in their final fight. This whole show we have seen Inaho out smart every single Vers Cataphract, either by his own witt, or with the assistance of his left eye. But in the final fight, Slaine's "Predictive imaging" gets knocked out by a stray bullet?!??!?!?!?!
The final fight just becomes a battle of brute force with swords (which is cool don't get me wrong, can't have a space mecha without a sword fight), and betrays the whole reason why I liked this show. THAT and masterpieces that Hirano Sawano and Mizuki craft for me to bang my head to at every fight.
END SPOILER SECTION
I loved this show when I was younger, and I re-watched the first season so many times. It was the show I could just put on in the background and know I would enjoy it, but since sitting through and paying attention to what was actually going on, I let down by the second season, as it could have been something awesome.
TLDR; Don't bother with the second season, unless you wanna bang your head to some Sawano against an orange kataphrakt, as you watch the cute bastard princess trip in her wheel chair in a space station more than once.

The Owl House Effect
(SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NOT WATCHED THE FINALE FULLY YET!)
The Owl House finale premiered on April 9, 2023 on Disney Channel and Disney Channel’s YouTube channel, officially bringing the beloved animation to a close. Titled “Watching and Dreaming”, the creators (and the characters) bid farewell to fans with a heartwarming ending. We all definitely sobbed at the end.
In the finale, we got answers to the Collector’s past, revealing that they’re just a kid who was sent down to the Boiling Isles by their brothers and befriended Titans, but once the race began dying, the Collector was then seen as an enemy, but it was all just a big misunderstanding. Luz, who reunites with Eda and King, helps the Collector understand how to be kind and make friends. Belos, who continued to posess Raine (who eventually broke out of their trance and got Belos out of them), tries to stop Belos from possessing a giant TITAN’S HEART, but it’s too late. Once Belos takes over the Titan, the Boiling Isles starts to become covered by him. Amity, Gus, Willow, Hunter, and Camila eventually get themselves out of their puppet trances and work to stop whatever Belos was doing to the Isles from spreading, and with Luz nearly dying and meeting the Titan-King’s dad-himself, she gets powerful magic flowing inside her, leading her to beat Belos for good. As years pass, the Boiling Isles has rebuilt itself, and before Luz heads off to the University of Wild Magic, everyone spends a good time together to celebrate Luz’s very late quinceañera.
Back in 2020, fans were introduced to the magical and haunting world of the Boiling Isles, following a young teenage Latina protagonist and human, Luz Noceda. Meeting Eda Clawthorne, the Owl Lady, and living in the Owl House with her, Luz learns many things along the journey-how to perform magic with glyphs, how to maintain her friendships, and discovering who she wants to truly be. The show was a success to many fans, as the characters were completely relatable and worthy of admiration.
When Season 3 was getting announced, fans were pissed to the bone when it was discovered that Season 3 was only going to be 3 episodes, cutting off so many details that could have been further explored if a whole season was done (giving a big side eye to you, Disney). The show’s creator, Dana Terrace, continued to let fans know that all their love is appreciated, and fans promoted the show as much as they could, making fanart, writing fanfics, and so much more.
As the years pass, many of the characters get new looks, but are still the same people. Vee got a nose ring, Willow cut her hair shorter, Eda grew her hair out again, Gus got a new hair look (and I love it!), and King got a bit taller. Since he’s a Titan, there’s a long way of growing for this little guy.
Also, Hunter has a new palisman, and it’s named Waffles! How adorable is that! I love how Willow and Hunter made a grave for Flapjack, *sobs harder*.
There are many theories that surrounded the show, and the number drastically increased when it came to the short Season 3. Fans began to think about the story surrounding Caleb Wittebane, Belo’s (Phillip’s) brother, and a witch named Evelyn. Fans believe that she was a Clawthorne like Eda and Lillith (and King, even though he is adopted), and there are clues that match every character’s design, as fans continue to try and connect the dots. We only know the story Masha had told the crew during “Thanks to Them”, but there was certainly more to be discovered. Regarding the theory that the entire show was just a dream Luz was having, we’re thankful that this was truly all real.
This was also a good ending for all Lumity and Huntlow shippers. We got to see Amity and Luz share a kiss, and another on the cheek towards the ending, and we love to see the representation. Hunter and Willow meet and hold hands, which implies that they are most likely together now (hopefully).
As a bisexual myself, I admired the representation this show gave to all the LGBTQ+ fans out there. When Luz came out to her mom, I was so proud of her. Many unfortunately do not have that much support that Camila gave Luz, but this show is there for LGBTQ+ fans to be welcome and appreciated.
Now, fans will continue to display The Owl House in their own ways on social media and everywhere else, letting the show live on. It’s crazy how the show is officially over, but it is never over in our hearts. Keep on rewatching it as many times as you want, and show others that The Owl House was worthy of it’s success!

Hello! I finally finished the podcast episode and I really agreed with Grey's point about how the character writing for season 2 is so much worse than bad writing on something like supernatural. Because as someone who is also into bad episodic tv shows the expectations are completely different. Even if a character does something ooc or terrible it could add to the complexity of their character or it can even be completely disregarded or retconned but in a serialized show where you only have six episodes and the whole show functions as a single narrative it just doesn't work.
Do you guys think that this season would have worked better if it was more episodic? Like having a different mystery/flashback every episode slowly building to the big reveal at the end?
Also I don't know if you guys have discussed this on the podcast but was the writing process for this really rushed? Because so much of this season felt like a first draft where they wrote the conclusion first and tried to work backwards from there but even that doesn't make sense because the only real buildup to what Aziraphale does is in the first two minisodes?? It almost makes me want to look at his tumblr but thankfully I have enough self preservation skills to avoid that.
yeah agreed it is six 50-minute long episodes you cannot be inconsistent in there!!!
grey is a big fan of sitcom omens so i think he agrees that it'd be better if it was episodic!
for me, i'm not too sure because i think the mystery itself doesn't have legs. the final ep's Big Reveal to ME is that heaven is planning to redo the apocalypse Right Fucking Now, but crowley doesn't even react to that; she's just curious about why gabriel is anti-apocalypse. the Big Reveal based on what the narrative spends time on and has all the characters gasp about becomes the gabriel/beelzebub reveal, which 1. i don't think is the reason gabriel doesn't want the apocalypse?? he said "instead of armageddon, no armageddon" before they got close??? so what was that shit even 2. is barely even related to why gabriel got mindwiped 3. doesn't answer the "why did you come to my shop?" part of the mystery. and sure, maybe if i cared about b/g At All (sorry to everyone who does like how they were implemented in the show you're all still valid etc etc) and they actually Had 3D Personalities, the way the show clumsily tries to do "you thought it was about Something Terrible coming for everyone, but it was actually about love and being on your own side, and isn't that what a/c are all about?" (at least i THINK that's what they were trying to do?) would hit, but i don't and it doesn't
i've been thinking about what the strengths of s1 are, and i think they're 1. the dynamic between a/c and how very likable they both are 2. aziraphale's pre-ex-christian arc 3. keeping the plot and stakes present throughout 4. having multiple pov characters - even if some of them got tedious, i think the whole "i wish aziraphale and crowley cared about humans more so they seemed more invested in the saving the world angle" doesn't bring s1 down too much because we see the Them and anathema and remember that these are brave and kind ppl who have lives and those lives rlly are at stake
#1 remains in s2, except for some overly corny or self-referential moments. #2 tries to be here but, as you said, it's rlly only the two minisodes that play to it, and maybe the unexpectedness of it in s2e6 is purposeful, but i would have liked to see more! #3 is floppy, limp, flaccid, even. i'm prob just repeating things i've said in recordings already but muriel and heaven pose absolutely no threat! the "fight scenes" when hell finally storms the bookshop are filmed so badly that i never even considered being stressed! the book of life threat, which i thought was the whole motivation behind all of crowley's actions in s2, comes to fruition, and crowley doesn't give a single shit and it's just luck regarding the metatron's timing that saves aziraphale's existence. #4 doesn't happen, which is why we get maggie as thee worst-written character in gomens history. it's a mess!
when you said episodic + revealing pieces of the mystery, though, if i combine that with #4, something i think COULD be fun is a the afterparty s1-esque season. basically, each ep is from a different char's POV and they're all retelling how they experienced the last week using a genre that reflects how they think. the last ep would be gabriel's pov, and we could have a longer b/g flashback series that actually feels believable there and a better explanation of why he and beelzebub are against the apocalypse, OR gabriel is the second-to-last ep so that aziraphale can get ep1 and crowley can get ep6, wherein the final fifteen happens. i'm imagining aziraphale would omit the divorce but the background of his interview would weirdly look a lot like heaven, and then finally in ep6 we cut to sloppy-drunk carly rae jepsen-blasting divorcee anthony j. crowley who fills in that last piece (though you could also swap them around). the other POV-ers would be muriel, shax, and nina (or maggie if you insist). we'd lose "a companion to owls" and some time with our ethereal girlies, but i think it would be worth it.
i actually did not know much about the s2 writing process, but i just searched around and found this post (link) summarizing an interview/con in 2022, and tl;dr, it was rushed, and it sorta WAS written ending-first! neilman pitched the general plot without the ending in august 2019, then partnered with john finnemore and came up with the ending in december 2019, then started writing in summer 2020. filming happened in late 2021-early 2022, so the two of them had ~a year? meanwhile, there's a third draft of gomens s1e1 from 2015 floating around (link), AND a lot of it is straight from a book that 1. terry pratchett was involved in 2. the authors had been trying to adapt basically since 1990. i'm assuming s3 is going to be written on a timeline similar to s2, which is part of why i have low hopes for it, though, if neilman is to be believed, at least the idea for it has been developing for longer than the idea for s2?
- Crystal :)

It's Always Sunny in Tarodelphia 2: Electric Boogaloo
(trying out some new names)
more sunny analysis using tarot lets gooo
prev reading: The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis
Episode: Mac Finds His Pride
For: Mac
Spread: 5 Card Lenormand
Some background on the Lenormand deck as it works a little differently than other tarot decks: There are 36 cards, each with their own meaning. Spreads are usually in a line or sometimes a grid for bigger ones. What makes the Lenormand special is that along with the individual meanings of the cards, you interpret the the relationship between cards that are next to each other. So a five card reading like this one has nine opportunities total for interpretation, adding this extra layer of analysis.
Deck I'm using: Homemade Lenormand Deck
I made these from a regular playing card deck (so no fun art sorry) because each card is also associated with a specific number/suit. There are no reversals with Lenormand decks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Lily: age, wisdom, maturity, things that take a long time, sensuality, sex, virtue, morality, ethics
2. Clover: luck, small fortune, a win, a fortunate opportunity, surprises, lightheartedness, small happinesses, being untroubled, comedy
Lily + Clover: enjoying sensual pleasures, contentment in simplicity
3. Key: solution, a "yes," positive outcome, access, success, openness, revelation, unlocking, achievement, liberation, resolution
Clover + Key: an easy way out, taking an opportunity
4. Scythe: accidents, hasty decisions, danger, a warning, speed, reckoning, cutting away, abrupt damage, shock, violence, a swift act
Key + Scythe: opening oneself to danger, opening oneself to put an end to something
5. Ship: depart, farewell, distance, voyage, travel, journey, adventure, movement, vacation, foreign shores, international travel, physical journeys
Scythe + Ship: a painful goodbye, end of a journey or trip
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
(words that appear within the reading are bolded in the analysis)
I love this episode as a culmination of Mac's journey accepting his sexuality. I need to go more in depth with the dance specifically in another post because there's too much to go into here, but instead I'll relate the episode in its entirety to the reading.
The Lily has a paradoxical symbolism, one of purity, morality, and innocence, alongside themes of sensuality and sex. It parallels the duality of the Madonna-whore complex, itself being this impossibly fine line between the faithful and the faithless. In this case it represents Mac's budding sexuality along with the Catholic morality ingrained in him since childhood. The fear of eternal damnation is enough to repress and recontextualize these early homoerotic feelings as a sort of brotherly love for Dennis and Charlie that evades the need to analyze those feelings further.
The Clover representing luck could be the bar purchase with Dennis and Charlie, noting that the clover is an Irish symbol and that Mac has a shamrock tattoo on his thigh. This opportunity also puts him in the position to build his life alongside Dennis, and for those perhaps confusing feelings of the Lily's paradoxical nature to flourish.
Jump forward to the present, where the Key provides the solution to these feelings coming to a head: coming out. He did this with the gang last season, finally no longer feeling the pressure to hide a part of himself around his friends. This pressure to conform was still present with his father, however, for whom he has spent his entire life desperately trying to please and be accepted by, in the form of touting an air of exaggerated masculinity.
So with Frank's help, he took the opportunity of having his father face to face to show him in his own way who he is, one where the facade of performative masculinity breaks down and instead is replaced with a feat of strength, beauty, and vulnerability. Which brings us to the Scythe. Separation, swift destruction. A breaking. His father getting up and walking out, just as he's done time and time again. And the crushing moment Mac almost gives up on the whole dance. There's a finality to this moment, staring truth in the face, with nowhere left to hide. He opened himself up to rejection in the rawest way possible and in doing so, left no room for misinterpretation.
This goes hand in hand with the Ship, where Luther has not made an appearance since this episode, marking this as his painful goodbye. The Key and the Scythe together note, however, that this separation needed to happen in order to find closure and conclude this chapter of his life. Only now can he move forward knowing the truth, that is until he finds another way to delude himself into thinking there's a way to win him back.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
side note i am working on a project related to this episode, so the dance analysis will probably go along with that
anyway next up Dennis gets analyzed in The Storm of the Century
Getting to know my decks, Part 2. Casanova Tarot Edition!
I have to admit, for someone who isn't well versed in tarot, these cards are a little hard to interpret and their little handbook isn't extremely helpful. If i did a full reading with these, I'd probably have to do outer research on certain things in the cards and not just look to the book that comes with it. This deck seems to be very physical, love, and sex focused so I don't know how often I'll use this for everyday readings. It could be something to do with a partner rather than alone, but anyways lets get right into it.
I cleansed my deck first with incense smoke that was already burning, talked to it a little, told it I was interested in it but unsure about our relationship. Then I took a look at all the cards, mostly very muted in color. Some had a color that stood out more, some didn't have anything at all. Numerology wise, pretty much the same. Aside from the number on the card itself, there aren't a lot of background details to look to for numbers. That made it a little more difficult for me because I like to read based off of the art, but maybe this deck will challenge me to not be so literal in my readings.
In the interview, I'll include the card that was pulled, a number to go along with it, and if there was a corresponding color I'll include that, too. I put key words that relate to the numbers/colors/the actual card itself, and then I go on into my interpretations of those.
Here We Go!
Please introduce yourself
10 of Chalices: 10 - Red
Key words: Completion, reflection, external appearances, refers to the game of love, harmony, perfection, union, positive outcome, passion, love, sex, danger.
My interpretation: I think the deck is being somewhat self-centered here, maybe playing a little game of its own. It tells me that it literally does refer to the "game" of love, and it seems to also tell me it loves itself, thinks its perfect, passionate, and beautiful. But just as love, there is also a dangerous side to it. I think I should be careful when referring to this deck for love based readings. While I believe it could allow for some guidance, I have to also remember that when it comes to love I am not the only one involved.
2. What are your strengths?
2 of Chalices: 2 - Yellow
Key words: Duality, balance, opposing forces, passion, the couple, celebration, a toast, positivity, optimism, warmth, growth, unity, partnership, sex
My interpretation: Chalices, being in reference to the game of love again. I think it's telling me that its strengths come with love and sex. That's what leads me to think maybe this would be a good deck to read WITH a partner about our love life or sex life. It can be a voice of reason between lovers, can help you understand yourself and your lover more, and can bring the 2 of you closer in a positive and unified way.
3. What are your limitations?
Wheel of Fortune: 10 - 6
Key words: Completion, endings, reflection, cycles, seasons, cycle of events, going in a circle, passing of time, loss of direction, fairness, values, solution.
My interpretation: I think the deck is trying to tell me is that it's quite literally limited in what it is, which is a love and sex deck. At least, for me personally. It has a cycle, it knows what it is and what its value to me needs to be. I may not need to use it very often because if I do, I could potentially end up lost or more confused than I was before. The deck must be used for very specific love, sex, and relationship type readings. I can respect that.
4. What can I learn from you?
Knave of Chalices: 2 - Yellow
Key words: Duality, balance, opposing forces, positivity, optimism, warmth, growth, sincere lover, entirety, destiny, mystery, mental ability. The man depicted is noted as not wearing a mask. He is also standing by the water.
My interpretation: This makes perfect sense to me for a deck dedicated to love. It's telling me that I can learn more balance in my relationship, how to be a more sincere partner, how to not wear an emotional mask all the time and how to allow myself to be more emotional, hence the water depicted in the card. How to love myself and my partner in our entirety and how to strengthen my mental ability to be a good partner. Very straight-forward.
5. What is the best way to work with you?
7 of Pentacles: 7
Key words: Change, evaluation, patience, boredom, habit, lack of harmonious communication, insensitivity, inability to be/come enthusiastic, perseverance.
My interpretation: I think the deck is telling me the best time to work with it rather than the best way. The way I see this, it's telling me to work with it when a change in my relationship happens, when I feel myself feeling locked in the same habits with my partner, when we lack communication, when I don't understand something about my partner, or when I feel like things have become stagnant or hit a bump in my love life. So far, there have only been maybe a handful of times that I can think of when this deck may have been useful, if that's the purpose it wants me to use it for, but I can see that being very useful in the future if ever needed, now that I know.
6. What is the outcome of our relationship?
The Emperor: 4 - Purple
Key words: Stability, foundation, prophecy, dreams, high power, royalty, luxury, fecundation, masculine strength, administration, powerful protection, symbol of power, control
My interpretation: The deck is sort of telling me that I'll become like it, in a sense lol. I'll gain more confidence in what/who I am. I'll become into my strength when it comes to love and relationships, I'll be confident and start to treat myself like a queen and expect my lovers to do so as well, I'll gain my own power back. But I'll also gain stability and better foundation in my love life, and more fertility in a sense that I'll be able to better grow myself and my partner with the help of this deck.
Very insightful reading. Like I said before, sort of hard to interpret as someone who doesn't really do a lot of tarot readings but this was fun nonetheless. My suspicions about this deck seemed to have been correct. I don't know how often I'll use this deck, but maybe the first time I do use it will have to be with my partner.
sorry i have to jump in because billy and the narratives treatment of his sexuality is a hot button issue for me l o l
yes, billy absolutely uses his sexuality as a tool to gain the upperhand HOWEVER. its deeply important to unpack why (and i will tie the mindflayer into this since thats the main point of this post)
we know billy sleeps around with girls (because we're TOLD but never actually SHOWN which is a whole thing to unpack in itself but now is not the time), but he never actually shows interest in any of them.
we see him driving vicki (season 2) home and shes far more interested in him than he is in her, he doesnt even look at her the whole scene expect to scold her for calling max his sister. we know in season 3 heather likes him but again, nothing is ever done on his end.
the only female he shows interest in is karen. a grown adult woman (billy is 17 upon their first meeting). and to be VERY clear since this fandom and the duffers like to forget, in season 2 he was only feigning interest to get information on max. this is his face immediately after
but yet we're supposed to by that by the time season 3 rolls around billys super into her enough to ask her to a motel.... sure jan
ANYWAY this brings me to how the narrative punishes his sexuality for not conforming to typical small town 80s ideals.
karen- again, a whole ass adult married woman - does not take any blame for any part of this "relationship". the fandom accuses him of being a homewrecker (he is a child. as of their interactions in season 3 he has been 18 for 3 months. legally an adult? yes. considering karen met him AGAIN AT 17 YEARS OLD... still super gross and if the genders were reversed there wouldve been so much outrage), and the narrative has karen being the one to end things not because she's come to her senses and realized she just barely avoided a statutory rape charge, but because she has a family to consider :/ she's just a sad lonely housewife tempted by the walking sex god freshly graduated from high school what other choice did she have really :/ anyone in her place wouldve been tempted too :'(
and this brings me to the mindflayer of it all
billy is attacked on his way to meet karen, and in a horrifically sexually graphic way (tentacle down the mouth after being dragged down by his ankles screaming)
we see him later in the sauna scene begging to be believed, repeatedly saying "its not my fault" and "he made me do it" which yes we all know is in relation to kidnapping heather and god knows who else but this verbiage also very much falls in line with a response to sexual trauma
and on top of that all we also have the knowledge that billy is being abused by his father since childhood, and the mindlfayer is essentially taking over neils role in controlling billy and playing puppet master (master of puppets you will always be billy hargroves song but again.... not the time)
and then theres the whole aspect of the metaphor for sexual assault + billy becoming infected etc etc
so yes, while billy uses sexuality as a tool for power, its that same sexuality that has been used against him to dehumanize him, villainize him, and take his own autonomy away
speaking of your famous rod phallus theory, what do you think of the gooey tentacle that comes out of the mind flayer's demogorgon mouth in s3? its dripping, oozing, its like the puberty metaphor for s3 but also very phallic and invasive. if the monsters are all manifestations of will's sexuality etc, could this be an additional rod symbol? or symbolic of rape etc? the whole s3 billy villain setup is very evocative of serial killers/rapist/abuser behaviour ('keep quiet' etc).
Hi anon, thanks for the ask!
The Flesh Flayer tentacle strikes me as a possible Alien reference -- very consistent with the sexual horror vibes of the Upside Down, which is also lousy with Alien references.
However, my phrasing in the rod analysis aside, I wouldn't go so far as to say that the monsters are manifestations of Will's sexuality, per se.
Rather, they're manifestations of toxic 80s attitudes towards non-conformist sex -- which has obvious implications for the visibly gay kid, but straight (or "straight") characters deal with sexual horror in this show too:
Nancy had conformist sex with Steve while Barb was left all alone where the Demogorgon could get her -- and was quickly slut-shamed as punishment for drifting away from that conformity in order to investigate what really happened. (To say nothing of the guilt that's been haunting her for four seasons.)
Mike largely manages to avoid the horrors, but I think it's notable that he has a few close calls in S3, all of which are associated with protecting El -- almost as though he's unhappy about performing traditional masculinity for El's sake as sexual maturity looms on his horizon or something, I dunno, I'm sure it's nothing
Billy has sex with a lot of women, but note the homoerotic tension between him and Steve in S2 -- he likes the feeling of power it gives him to sexually intimidate other men. This doesn't necessarily make him queer, mind -- the point is that he views sexuality as a tool for control and power, which makes him a perfect conduit for the horrors.
So yeah, the Flesh Flayer tendril isn't one of Will's rods -- but you're definitely not misreading the phallic symbolism there.
Okay, real quick, I want to talk about my personal take on Jon's arc in TMA, and that's this:
Whether or not Jon is a good person is functionally irrelevant to his character! Not only because the tma world is one in which true Good w/ a capital G can't be achieved, but also because Jon's arc is not about being Good, but about trying even when it's hard.
It also ties in better with his central conflict with the web and the more abstract concept of agency that plagues him throughout the series. For example, Jon's actions in season 4 are less about the specifics of what he's doing (because you can argue that those victims were expendable in the grand scheme of saving the world (I don't, but it can be made)) and more about whether he is or is not trying to resist the pull of the eye.
And while the Jon/Georgie conflict is based on Georgie's limited information and could easily be seen as too harsh on her side, it also ties back into the central theme of whether or not Jon is Trying. You can easily make the argument he wasn't in a position to Try, but then the argument is raised "what does it mean to be in a position to try?" Is effort a luxury? Tma never answers this! But it's a question that can be raised and I find it more interesting than "is our protagonist good?".
It's also seen in how Jon inspires others to try to be better! The entire season 4 squad, actually. People have brought up the idea that part of what pushed Melanie to abandon the slaughter and seek help was seeing the way she'd hurt Jon during the bullet removal. Even if she never likes him or forgives him, even comes to blame him on some level for things that still aren't his fault (because again, lack of agency and consequences are the biggest themes in Jon's arc). Daisy and Basira are nowhere near good people at the end of their arcs, but their arcs end with them Trying to be better, and both of them are partly inspired by Jon Trying to help them despite what they've done. He doesn't even forgive daisy, but he still helps her (even if I maintain the coffin is partly motivated by him wanting to help basira and his suicidal nature manifesting). Basira explicitly says thanks Jon for inspiring her in season 5 in 199 (or 198, I'm not completely sure, feel free to let me know).
The theme of Trying despite it all is seen in Jon leaving the cabin, in him stopping his avatar murder spree, and in his decision in 200. This theme obviously isn't the only thing Jon has going on: trauma and it's affects, culpability and responsibility, martyrs, saviours, Gods, voyeurism and death are all important parts of him and his arc. Also the way he laughs at scary things <3 but why do I bring up this theme of Trying with a capital T so much?
I've said before that tma is fundamentally from Jon's perspective, later expanding to incorporate Martin's perspective. We see everything through his eyes, and we understand his decisions before anyone else's.
Before, I've said that this often means that characters who need a second look to understand why they do what they do are often more logical in their decisions and have more pathos than we may at first think, since we've only seen them through one specific lens. But here i think that making Jon the understandable, relatable and sympathetic centre of the narrative encourages us to project traditional ideals of heroism onto Jon, who's a lot of things, but a traditional hero isn't one of them! And also because...it's way more comfortable to project onto a traditional, misunderstood hero. We don't want to relate to A Bad Person.
But tma itself encourages you to sit with the sadness and discomfort that comes with relating to Jane Prentiss, to the Distortion, to Oliver Banks and Agnes Montague and fucking Tova McHugh and even our beloved Jarchivist. That's not to say you have to always engage with the narrative in this essay style fashion like me, a notorious little fool who never has fun. Nor is it to say that Jon doesn't do good things/Isn't Good! If that's your reading of the text, then sure, go for it.
But that's not what his arc is about- I fundamentally believe that the arc, the tragedy, the life and times of Jonathan Sims, Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, London...is about trying. And that it's a more compelling question than whether or not he's Good or Bad.
#the magnus archives#tma#magpod#jonathan sims#straight up do not know what inspired this i just had this in me#i think i just realized that I've relating to jon in a different way to most fans?#like yeah i think he's autistic and has IBS and is genderqueer but that's all second to the fact that. he Tries#i do not consider jon an aspirational hero but like. that was always the most compelling part of him to me#and i think that most conversations about whether or not jon is good rely to much on the ways he's been victimized in the narrative-#-to emphasize his goodness#(i.e ''hes good despite xyz events!'')#and it creates that weird expectation again that people who are ''Good'' despite trauma are morslly superior to those with uglier reactions#it throws the really good rep tma has for these more volatile trauma responses under the bus to me (i WILL finish my Tim and Melanie post)#and also. what makes a person good is very subjective especially in this show because there's always so many moving pieces#so i wanted to make this both a love letter to how jon Jarchivist has positively impacted me#and as a prompt for future fans of the show to consider this theme when engaging with Jon's arc!#even if they still want to discuss whether or not he's Good#I'm sorry if this whole piece comes off as too... discursive? I'm not trying to make people defensive#i don't particularly feel like editing it since i have. actual schoolwork to be doing rn lmao#so uhhh take it as it is!#to be unbearably cheesey for a sec here's a quote from m/s m/arvel (censored to avoid cross tagging)#''good is not a thing you are. it's you do''#ergo if you want to discuss whether or not Jon is good you have to discuss the things he's Done#and i maintain the most important thing he's done throughout the series...is Try
@vstrider pointed out that Wild Card looks kinda like a caterpillar creature... and I totally agree~!! SO, what if in Season 3, Mr. Unpredictable gets an insatiable appetite, is always tired, and molting even more frequently than usual (which is EXTREMELY frequently; how many times has General Outrage had to tell the kid to pick up his own exoskeletons as soon as he sheds them?), among other things, and Brainz realizes that all these symptoms of Wild Card’s are actually his body preparing itself for its metamorphosis-- and sure, the kid’s roughly the same age as the other Generals, but in (insert silly-sounding species name here) years, he’s just begun to go through puberty! Outrage, Brainz, and Clipper do their best to care for the little guy, even when he slips into a weeklong coma before finally cocooning himself (a state poor Wild Card may or may not be stuck in for the next few episodes).
Butterfly Wild Card, people. #SaveWOY for a chance at Butterfly Wild Card.
I admire your interest in wanting to know more about WOY’s characters. To tell you the truth, I’ve never ever ever ever had any thoughts on the subject of which you speak. The Insurgents were inspired by the A-Team, so I figured Wild Card (voiced by Dwight Schultz, who played Murdoc of the A-Team) was also an adult who shared the same goal with the rest of the team. Being totally unpredictable is WC’s specialty, but that’s not to say he has no self control. I’m not really the guy you want to ask about all that, though. Only Craig and the crew know how the characters fit into the WOY universe and whether they’d be recurring. The thing about WOY is all characters (save for Lord Hater, who might have originated from Earth) are extraterrestrials who come in all shapes and sizes.
I can say, however, that I imagined the Insurgents having a sentient van called Ivan (think the A-team van, KITT from Knight Rider, Herbie, and Speed Buggy rolled into one vehicle) who was taken to the vehicle impound planet when Lord Hater rose to power (not related to Hater’s van, BTW). The third part of my Eye on the Galaxy fan fiction even brings him up. I like to think the Insurgents would be useless without Ivan.
Also, I noticed you pointed out that Wild Card couldn’t be seen in The End of the Galaxy - I, too, already caught that. Just because you can’t see him doesn’t mean he’s not there. Other characters who didn’t appear were bound to be offscreen in some way. The Lost and Found Guy didn’t appear until after Prince Cashmere and Neckbeard spoke, the Black Cube was first seen after Sylvia said the Robomechabotatron was blown up, and Major Threat came from a different spot in the hideout when Sylvia called for him.
Anyhow, there you have it.
