Baby Witch Tip: Witchy Stuff That’s Worth The Money
Tumblr media
We recently posted an article titled:  7 Things a Baby Witch Shouldn't Spend Money On. So what about things that ARE worth the money? Let me highlight the worth the money part. Some of them are not really necessary, but you will get good value for your money if you do decide to get them.
Witchcraft is a practice that does not rely on many tools. There are some helpful objects that can help you channel Divine energy into the earthly world. However, even if you do need some items for your practice, it doesn’t mean you need to spend lots of money on them. I promise to keep this post accessible for all kinds of budgets. Now, let's dive into what are the things that would help in your practice.
Tumblr media
Book of Shadows
My first tip would be to invest in building your knowledge. A Book of Shadows is where you write the details of the journey of your path as it unfolds. It’s more like a journal for your knowledge, and it’s as personal as your practice.
A Book of Shadows doesn’t have to be an ancient, expensive book. Any notebook with a design that appeals to you would do, or even a plain composition notebook if you like it. The Book of Shadows is for you to write down the things you learn, yet it must be used only for that.
The same applies for the writing tool you use, it should only be given this purpose. I wouldn't say you should buy a new pen if you have several in your house. However, once you start using one for your Book of Shadows, don’t make use of it for anything else. It is a good idea to cleanse and bless these tools before you start to use them.
Back to the Book of Shadows. As it is a main tool for any witch, you should consider it a wise investment. There are many small businesses where you can find handcrafted bullet journals. You can support your local store and get one from there as well.
Tumblr media
Incense burner
Maybe you can’t think why you would need an incense burner, but trust me on this one. This will quickly become an essential tool in your daily practice. It took me a while to invest in one, and once I did it was a game changer. It is much better than a plate, and it’s definitely better than burning your fingertips.
This item is easy to manipulate and really practical. Plus, this makes the cleansing of your space, tools, and even yourself much more pleasant.
There are a variety of options on the market, from material to size. You would have to choose the one that best fits your needs —and budget. If you’re already used to purchasing herbs and incense from a metaphysical store, they will likely have incense burners as well.
Tumblr media
Chest
You will eventually end up with many witchcraft items, so a place to store them can be really handy. Your closet might be a temporary solution, but it’s better to get yourself something like a chest. There are many delicate tools which can be damaged from environmental exposure —dust, sunlight, humidity— or constant handling. So a chest is not only practical for storage, but it can help you save money in the long run. If you have somewhere safe to store your tools, you won’t spend money replenishing damaged items.
You shouldn’t try to save when it comes to finding a place to keep your things safe. However, there are many cheap options for chests. You can buy any wood box from your nearest hobby store and then paint a nice design on it. If you have a really tight budget, a cardboard box is a better choice than packing everything in your closet.
Worshiping material
These items are not just for advanced witches. As a baby witch, you can start worshiping any diety you want —after some proper research—. Remember that simply worshiping a Deity is harmless, the real work begins when you start to make requests.
I would recommend you get something for the entity you have been working with. It is okay for you to craft something for them, yet it’s recommended to find a way to express how much you value them.
It is not necessary to get them much if you’re just starting out. Remember that offerings are gifts, you wouldn’t spend much money on a stranger. This can cause the stranger to mistrust you. So don’t go big until you have already worked on your relationship with them. Here are some ideas on what you can buy at first:
Tumblr media
Effigies
You can buy or create an effigy of the deity you’d like to work with. It doesn’t need to be a gigantic statue, you can start with a print of that entity. However, as time goes by, your relationship with them will grow. Eventually you will need to express some gratitude to them. You can frame your print, or buy a small statue of them. You can even get some clay and make your own, but you need to show how devoted you are to them, so something you do carelessly and quickly won't do. You will find that there are some differences on what and how to give offerings to your deities. So it is a must for you to do some research beforehand.
Candles
I’d say this is the best choice if you have a shoestring budget. You can get a simple white candle. Then, you can dress them with essential oils or carve them with symbols of the deity you are working with. You can also invest in a pillar colored candle dressed in herbs to raise your prayers or connect with your deity.
(PS if you’re looking for a candle set, you can find ours linked here)
Amulets
Back to daily use items for witches. Amulets can have many purposes, mostly used for protection. When you are starting out, it is important to use something as an amulet. This is symbolic, especially if you’re a beginner.
It’s okay to have amulets from your ancestors. However, it’s advised to get one just for yourself. Remember, this is YOUR journey, not your ancestors. You should get an amulet to symbolize that you are walking YOUR own path. What can work as an amulet? The limit is your imagination. You can even make your own jewelry. Provided it is cleansed and the materials are somewhat durable, this is a great route to go if you do not have much disposable income. You can also find something at your local thrift store. It doesn’t really matter how much you spend, and it is not even necessary to spend anything. However, it is a proper way to show devotion to your practice.
An amulet works like a promise you make to yourself. Once you get or make it and bless it, you commit to what you’re doing. Whichever item you choose to take as an amulet, it is important to feel attached to it. This amulet would not just guide you. It will also protect you at the beginning of your journey.
What's Next
At this point, you should be covered for what you’d need for the first steps of your practice. It’s time for you to explore and make your own decisions. All of the items listed above are just some ideas, it is up to you to think which is the item you need the most right now.
Always give ample thought to what to spend your money on. It’s not only about being financially smart, where you spend your hard-earned money also leaves an energetic imprint. Deciding where to invest is also part of your practice. This would make any purchase more significant, no matter how much money you are spending.
I hope this post enlightened some doubts you had. Do you plan to shop for tools soon? What are you planning on getting for your practice?

How the Forest Finds the Island
Chapter Seven - Blurring the Boundaries
Before he knew it, Sen found patches of green and red lichen brightening the trunks of his trees. He had to admire Askarya's eye for composition. While sharing the same living space, both of them mostly got on with their own business, but they were happy to stop and catch up when they passed the other by.
The height of summer rolled around, and as Sen had feared, the little creek began to dry up. It didn't disappear entirely, though, and the roots of the ginkgo saplings had now developed enough that water was no longer a serious concern. Unfortunately, despite his efforts, two of the saplings that had been afflicted with rootworm didn't make it. He was observing the algal flora of the creek one day when he saw that their leaves had yellowed and were beginning to fall. The others still had their summer foliage, but it looked like autumn had already come for this pair.
Sen did what he could to stabilise them, but ultimately death took them, and they were reclaimed by the soil.
⸙ ⸙ ⸙
For the next week or two, Sen wandered in a cloud of apathy. Death was a natural part of life, it was true, but it cut him to his core when he lost something so important.
Si-woo and Askarya had come to stand with him the day after the trees had died. Si-woo performed a ritual to appeal to the souls of the island, beseeching safe passage for the souls of these two little trees back to where they had been given life.
Sen had appreciated that. And he still had the rest of the grove to care for. But all the same, the excitement and wonder of finding himself in a freshly moulded world had dulled somewhat. With his motivation ground down, he wished he had some new task to distract him, but there was nothing except his routine. Photosynthesize, water, check for parasites, sleep. Repeat.
One evening he sat looking out across the plain. It was much the same as it had ever been. The ground cover was getting denser though, and patches that had been bare earth and rock before were now claimed by new kinds of moss and ferns, slower to get here but suited for a life where others couldn't thrive.
Askarya, who he had barely seen since the funeral, poked their head through the leaves.
"Mind if I join you?"
"Go ahead." Sen managed a smile.
The lichen fairy settled down, legs kicking in the air. They were silent for a few minutes.
"What's the good of magic," wondered Sen "if it can't save what we love?"
Askarya pondered this. At length, they spoke. "The purpose of magic is not to overcome the natural world, but rather, to help us find our place within it."
Sen looked at them sidelong, eyebrow raised and trying not to show how impressed he was.
"Don't you sound wise all of a sudden. Is that your own realisation?"
"I'd like to say yes, but truth be told, I heard it from my uncle."
"Well, he sounds an insightful man."
Sen tasted the air with his delicate crown, picking up mostly the smell of dust.
"You mentioned your cousin before. Do you have any other family?"
"No, just those two," sighed Askarya. "My cousin's name is Likhith. We're not on bad terms or anything, but he can be a little shit. Had a whole island to himself and wouldn't even share it."
"Hey, look on the bright side," enthused Sen. "You wouldn't have met me otherwise!"
Askarya snorted through their nose. "My uncle is Pankaja. He's old, very old. To listen to him, you'd swear he was the first one out of the sea when the planet was young. I don't know if I fully believe that, but he's a treasure trove of information and stories, all the same."
They trailed off, watching the sun dip down.
"I miss him. I have no idea where he is now. Keeps a low profile, so whenever I meet up with him it's down to luck more than anything. Still, it's never lonely. Have you met Khajee?"
Sen gave them a blank stare.
"No, of course you haven't," mulled Askarya. "Well, no time like the present."
They stood, walked backwards and spread their arms, the lichenous thalli all over their body raising. Sen watched, enthralled.
Askarya began to chant silently, lips forming syllables he couldn't quite catch. They moved their body and limbs, fluid yet frenetic, before throwing their head back as a warm glow enveloped them. Before Sen's dazzled eyes, the gentle light took on the form of a figure standing alongside Askarya.
They were the same height as the lichen fairy, dressed in flowing robes and a loose headscarf. The most unusual thing was that they seemed translucent, especially at their edges, as though in the process of fading into the background. Sen had to squint and adjust his focus a few times to make sure his vision wasn't playing tricks on him.
"Gongsun, I'd like to introduce you to Khajee," smiled Askarya, "my partner."
Sen blinked. "Wow. Um, alright, I… ahem, it's a pleasure to meet you, Khajee."
They bowed to each other.
"Likewise, Gongsun," the hazy fairy answered in lilting tones. Now that the light had faded, Sen could see that all throughout, from their skin and filamentous tresses to their clothes, Khajee was suffused with a deep ochre tint.
"So, how long have you been together?" Inquired Sen.
The two looked at each other.
"Spathian, was it?", estimated Khajee.
"Yeah, early Spathian," confirmed Askarya.
"Wow," Sen repeated, "that's quite the commitment."
"No kidding, hasn't always been easy, but we made it work," teased Askarya, putting an arm around Khajee, who rolled their eyes.
"Having someone there for you when times get tough is essential, you know?", the orange-hued fairy added.
"Yeah," nodded Sen, though to tell the truth, he wasn't familiar with the feeling.
"Well, if that'll be all…" Khajee trailed off. "Good to get to know you a bit better, Gongsun."
"The same to you, I'm happy to chat any time!"
Askarya watched them contentedly, then tilted their head back and uttered a string of syllables. Just like that, Khajee was gone, the only sign of their existence an orange glow fading around their partner.
⸙ ⸙ ⸙
Late summer had come and gone. Autumn rolled around. The savoured rains arrived, to the relief of all.
Sen finally felt he could relax. His surviving trees were thriving, big enough to accumulate some defensive compounds and fend off parasites on their own, now that they were no longer water-stressed.
With little to do, he ended up visiting Si-woo more often. The progymnosperm fairy had lashed a bundle of dead branches together into a raft, and it was here, floating on the lake, that they met up. Some of Si-woo's trees were already mature and starting to spread their spores, so he collected any which remained unfertilised and pressed them together with water and spilled resin into little cakes.
One day, drifting on the current under the fading sun, Si-woo mentioned that he'd been back to the spot they had visited together.
"Tadgh's terracing is working as planned. You should see the place, with this rain it's already transforming itself from dry overlook to verdant fen!"
"I'd love to, perhaps I'll fly out tomorrow," mused Sen. "I wonder if Askarya would object to being carried?"
Si-woo snorted, taking a bite of his cake. "Dare you to try."
Sen laughed, looking around. "Water level's come up a bit. I'm sure your trees are glad."
"Oh, totally! And with all the spores they're producing, they should establish in this area nicely. Problem is, though, if these ones keep reproducing with each other, they'll run short on filial diversity in no time."
"The same with my ginkgos," noted Sen. "I only brought two seeds, both from the same tree. And the other cuttings are extensions of myself, so they’re all ramets."
Si-woo looked coastward. "I don't fancy flying all the way back to Epiphyllia. Transporting spores is a nightmare in any case. They spill like nobody's business."
"I wonder if there's an easier way," continued Sen. "The flight I made nearly killed me, but I'm not familiar with the climate or air currents around here. Perhaps if there's a strong prevailing wind, or other islands to use as stopping-off points, it'd be more feasible."
"The climate here is unpredictable," added Si-woo. "These islands are diverting whole air masses around them as they grow."
"I've noticed," murmured Sen. "Epiphyllia is drying. It's what pushed me to fly out here in the first place, and you, I take it. And I'm certain we won't be the last."

#TAYLOR SWIFT APPRECIATION LIFE
PART 5 - 1989
(part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4)
Back at it again with that @taylorswift love! We’ve finally reached the ICONIC 5th studio album 1989. I’m excited for this one!
Let’s do this thing.
(editor’s note: I wrote up my comments on the first four tracks of this album and tumblr promptly ate them, so we’re going to try this again.)
1. Welcome to New York
Taylor is very talented at knowing just how to kick off an album perfectly, and this is absolutely no exception to that. I love that light clapping percussion and the droning bassline and that synth or keyboard or whatever it is. And her vocals!! That waver at the top of the end of “girls and girls” just gets me, and those low hiding harmonies that are in there but only just barely audible. There’s something about this song that really does a good job of portraying that kind of awe and wonder that you’d expect to be tied to arriving in New York and seeing the bright lights big city aspect.
2. Blank Space
I love so much that Taylor used this song to take that persona that the media had created for her and just be line “well, if you insist.” On top of that, I just love this song in general, it’s such a well done, solid pop track. I don’t know what instrument that is doing that light ringing lead melody in the music, but it’s so good for the mood of the song. The drums are so full sounding, and her background vocals honestly are like a part of the backing track. Also can we talk about the little mini vibrato in the bridge and that descending low melody at the end while her explosive higher vocals come in? Beautiful. (Don’t even get me started on the pen click or tongue click or whatever that sound’s supposed to be)
3. Style
I love how the music supports the lyrics in this track - the sound of the instrumentals really puts you in the mind of a drive through a midnight city, lights flashing by, while she’s singing about exactly that. There’s just the right amount of darkness in the music itself to supposed what’s happening in the narrative. I love love love the descending harmony behind those select lines on the chorus, and then of course the power in “just take me home” at the end, and such a strong ending on top of that. So good.
4. Out of the Woods
I have to admit, this song doesn’t really do it for me. It’s not a bad song by any means, but it’s just not my favorite. If I’m in the right mood I’ll be more into it, but overall... It’s just a little too repetitive in the chorus for me, and I’m not keen enough on the track in general to ignore it. She does some really cool things with the lyrics (screaming color is a great phrase, and the percussion drives the song along really well (I love the way it speeds up at certain points) but yeah. She’s cute, but not my fave.
5. All You Had to Do Was Stay
Ohhh this song. I have spent many hours driving and angrily singing along to this song. It’s the perfect bitter breakup song, and I love it for that. Her vocal is beautiful, and I distinctly remember the first time I heard this song and the high note “stay”s blew me away. Not only are they not easy notes to hit, but that ringing quality to them is just beautiful. I love the variation on the melody that she throws into the final chorus - a common technique for Taylor, but one that I never get tired of - and the ending of just that one “Stay” with no instruments behind it is just perfect.
6. Shake It Off
Ahhhhhh, the iconic lead single. I love this track so much. There’s nothing like a song that literally gives you permission to dance as badly as you want to - this is optimal dancing weirdly in the kitchen music, and I think by now we all know exactly how I feel about that. There are so many things I love about this song, from the excellent choice of putting brass in the backing track to Taylor’s vocal performance. She really delivered on the vocals in this song, that one note is still iconic, and all the ad libs on the way out of the song fill me with joy.
Plus, I’m posting this on the throwback Thursday where she performed it again for GMA! gotta represent for that, because it was a great performance.
7. I Wish You Would
This is another one of the songs that’s not the highest on my list. Don’t get me wrong, I like it, it’s a very well crafted song, but it’s just not my cup of tea. (I do have to say that little a cappella bit before they drop back into the full instrumental is A+)
8. Bad Blood
Was anyone else kinda disappointed at the addition of the Kendrick Lamar feature in the music video? It felt really unnecessary to me, but maybe that’s just a me thing. I just vastly prefer the original version.
That beat, though. I love a good driving beat, and honestly I think that almost country ring in the background of the song (not sure how they did that exactly) somehow fits in really well, even though it’s in the middle of an album that is very decidedly pop. Taylor’s performance is very emotive, it really pulls in all the hurt and betrayal from the lyrics.
Honestly, though, I can’t unhear Should’ve Said No laced in here after seeing her on the rep tour.
9. Wildest Dreams
This was the track where I realized that Taylor’s range had surpassed my own, which honestly was something I didn’t expect to happen (not sure why it surprised me so much). She does such a beautiful job with this song, with that breathy quality she applies to her vocals and the almost misty feeling in the track in general that makes it really feel like a dreamscape. Of course, as I’ve already stated, I’m a sucker for final choruses getting leaned on just a little harder, and that song delivers that beautifully.
10. How You Get The Girl
This song inspired a significant part of one of my writing projects! I’m very fond of it, not just because of that. I’m not gonna lie, this one is a bop. That chorus! I can’t not dance to this one; even now, sitting at my computer I’m jamming out. There’s such good use of silence and wall-of-sound in this song, the way the drums come in and out, and just the way the music seems to back away at some points to let Taylor’s vocals shine. And! It’s just a very dancey song, and it makes me happy!
11. This Love
Speaking of atmospheric songs... That reverb on her voice, and the softness of the opening makes me think of a misty shoreline on a dim morning. (in fairness I might have an overactive imagination even now). The background vocals on the end, the “this love”s in all the different pitches and qualities... Mmm. Beautiful. Definitely one of my favorite tracks on the album.
12. I Know Places
Okay. Realistically I know that any number of large scale music players could have buttons that make that sound from the beginning, but for some reason when I hear that I immediately think of a cassette player. I don’t know if that was Taylor’s intent, but it worked on me if it was.
This is very very high on my list of favorite on this album, and primarily for the vocal performance Taylor delivers on it. There is such complex harmonic stuff going on in this song, and I can’t tell for sure if it’s all just her, but it sounds like it. There’s so many little things in various spots on this song that hit me right in the feels somehow, way too many for me to pinpoint in this post. One of those things, though, is definitely the way it drops down to just the piano and her vocalization at the very end, and then the beat of quiet before the button press sound comes again.
13. Clean
This song is not only beautiful in composition but also in lyrical content. The words of this song get to me in such a deep way - her metaphors are outstanding. The wine-stained dress, the butterflies turning to dust, the comparison of a relationship to an addiction? There’s so much.
This is also another of Taylor’s songs that hits me hard emotionally, for a number of reasons. There’s something so ethereal to this song as a whole, all the way through, and it makes my heart ache in a really good way.
time for the bonus tracks! for obvious reasons I won’t be commenting on the voice memos.
14. Wonderland
I love the intro to this song, with that ringing alternating note that carries into the background of the rest of the song. And then!! There’s the prechorus!! With that wooOOSH up into the beat drop!! It’s so perfect. The synths and use of dynamics in this song give me LIFE. And then there’s That Note that she hits, that bending power note.
I also love this metaphor, of being with someone as being in wonderland and that automatic connection in my brain to Alice.
15. You Are In Love
This song starts so softly, and with the way her voice is so gentle and breathy, it feels almost like a lullaby. I want to know what that instrument is in the prechorus, that plinking sort of noise - I can’t tell if it’s a stringed something or other or a percussive instrument, but it’s gorgeous. Ultimately, this song is the most beautiful depiction of being in love that I’ve heard in a very long time - that line about “you’re my best friend” and knowing he’s in love from that gives me hearteyes every time. She’s so good with the metaphors!!
And learning that she wrote this about a couple she knows just makes it even more intense.
16. New Romantics
Favorite bonus track! I love this song so much, and I usually forget that it’s a bonus track in the first place. This track feels a little reminiscent of the feeling in 22, but like the most matured and experienced version - this is like the older, more experienced world-wise cousin of 22, to me. This song feels like the perfect cap for this album, because it’s like.... To me it’s like the continuation of Welcome to New York. This is the sequel, after settling into NY and letting some of the plastic shine wear off.
We've done it again! In spite of tumblr trying to eat this post and completely demoralizing me at the beginning, we’ve made it to the end of 1989.
Next up: reputation (I’m so excited for this one!)

Polymer Engineering - Developing or Improving Plastic Products- Are Plastics Boon or Bane?
Tumblr media
Abstract
Plastics have advantages and disadvantages in properties like every other material section i.e. wood, metals, aluminum, ceramics. A boon is the high flexibility with plastics to create each desired property for each single application. But this is exactly also the bane. The result are the 5 Billon tons of plastic worldwide everywhere on earth. The diversity of plastic solutions is enormous. This makes reuse of it almost impossible. Compared with no economic value of used plastic the significance for Consumers and companies is almost zero. We need a common strength to solve this problem. And we need true facts from scientists and experts to help consumers make the wright decision under technical, economical, ecological and social aspects. This is shown in detail using a plastic tote bag versus a fiber tote bag.
Keywords: Polymer Engineering; Plastic Products; Advantages and Disadvantages; Boon and Bane of Plastics
Introduction
The “polymer” expertise in interaction with technological knowledge on raw materials, polymer materials, machine and process technology, processing, manufacturing technology and quality, tool and surface technology, construction and simulation, use, repair and recycling, cycles and disposal, Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) and Further training leads to qualified “polymer engineering” and is part of polymer science [1,2]. The specialists working in plastics technology also have enormous competitive advantages and behave sustainably through the application of the engineering concept to innovations in their products and in the quality of their work from a variety of particularly forward-looking aspects (-> economy, component optimization, resource conservation, environmental compatibility, etc.). It should be noted at this point that specialist expertise within plastics technology is basically a reflection of our quality of life and thus our prosperity. This will certainly continue to be the case in future, provided that we are “qualified” and highly responsible when it comes to plastics!
Present situation
From today’s perspective and also in the future, plastics from the following, exemplary selected areas of life will no longer be imaginable.
a. Energy saving through lightweight construction (low density) with moving masses (cars, aircrafts, robots, satellites, rockets)
b. Electrical insulation (including electrical cables, electric motors)
c. Thermal insulation for buildings (foams)
d. Improved shelf life and hygiene of food (packaging)
e. Product protection / resource conservation through shock absorption (packaging)
f. Maximum mobility through rubber tires (traffic)
g. Seat belts in vehicles (shock absorption)
h. Electronic components (mass production)
i. Leisure experiences (skiing, climbing, hiking, ball games, bicycles, water sports, tennis, etc.)
j. Clothing, textiles (comfort, durability)
k. crop yields in agriculture (covers, nets, fences, irrigation, silage)
l. medical healing (bandages, syringes, tubes, plasters, implants etc.)
And for all applications of plastics, these are usually inexpensive.
It should also be noted that due to their extremely high number of variants (materials made to measure for every application), plastics have, besides outstanding advantages (see above) as the boon side, also serious disadvantages (i.e.-> recycling problems) as the bane side.
For about 30 years we have been experiencing how plastics are gradually becoming discredited by public opinion due to “conspicuous” environmental events. These include (selection):
a. Fine dust pollution (microplastics) due to tire abrasion, sports fields with artificial turf,
b. Nanoparticles from cosmetics, fibers from clothing parts lead to plastic in the world’s oceans, in the ground and in the air. Polymer particles (plastic primary particles) migrate through food intake in humans and animals
c. Recycling quotas and circular economy up to ban on disposable products in more and more countries worldwide
d. Consumer health as a result of emissions from packaging and insulation materials as well as floor coverings in the construction industry and much more. Think on PVC soft for example.
e. Reduced moisture absorption of arable soils due to mixed decomposition products made of PE from cover foils etc. over the years.
f. Emissions of additives in plastics (fogging) in new cars, home mobiles, textiles, household machines, departments (floors, furniture), buildings (Inside and outside: foams, surface protections), and so on.
Basically, it has to be demanded that the highest priority must be to generate an accurate factual awareness among consumers through honest, open education. Recognized undesirable developments and misalignments are to be named with clear and understandable names. It is just as important, however, to demonstrate and appreciate the indispensable, environmentally friendly, life-saving, and beautifying consequences of plastic applications.
Plastics are made-to-measure materials, and, from today’s perspective, it is precisely this advantage that is increasingly becoming a major disadvantage with the current possibilities with regard to recycling and reuse (closed loop economy). However, this may change in the future. So “plastic waste”, provided chemical recycling processes (catalytic cracking, etc.) further developed so that in the future the plastic itself will become a source of raw materials again, will receive a completely new appreciation Using solar energy, it is fundamentally possible to achieve a carbon-neutral, climate-friendly life cycle assessment! With glass, metal, ceramics, wood, the situation is similar with regard to a circular economy. Quantitatively smaller, unmixed material flows are significantly larger in number with plastics. With high-strength, alloy steel sheets for car bodies, there is the same problem of pure recycling in the second and subsequent life of a component that is subjected to comparable loads, such as in e.g. PVC window frames. For metals, the need for metals with lower properties is huge worldwide. Similar to thermoplastics, they can be melted and re-alloyed and finally used as normal steel, here, for example, structural steel. With 30-year-old PVC window frame formulations, this is also possible to a limited extent, but the volume flows that can be achieved are much lower at the same time significantly higher logistics costs. Additive developments over the decades also prevent their use after 20 years. a. Without plastics, there would only be mobility based on wood, metal and ceramics (no rubber tires).
b. Without plastics, natural fibers for clothing would not be sufficient for all of humanity or the cultivated areas would be too scarce.
c. Without plastics, we used the oil for heating and transport even faster (plastics reduce resource consumption).
d. Without plastics, there would be no electrical devices, no electrical motors and electronic components
e. Without plastics we would have no surface protection (corrosion)
f. Without plastics, medical technology and hygiene would have been up to 100 years ago.
g. And without plastics there would be no space and aviation technology.
It is also correct, however, that the approximately 9 billion tons of plastics that have been extrapolated since 1950 (2 million t pa) up to 2020 including (approx. 420 million t pa) have a destructive impact on the world’s oceans and that animals and plants suffer from it [3]. This last point is something to be deepened.
The chemical industry produces plastics from (only) 4% of the oil that is extracted annually. 45% each of oil flows into heating + cooling and traffic, another 4% into pharmaceutical products. These usual percentages of mass falsify the picture. Due to the low density of plastics (0.1 g / cm3 for foams up to 2.0 for glass fiber reinforced composites) on average around 1.2 g / cm3), their volumes are much larger. This is the only way to explain that landfills are overflowing, the landscape is polluted, and the oceans are full of discarded plastic products because 15 large rivers (4 of them in Europe) flush tons of waste into the oceans. Although it is people, some unscrupulously criminal, who dispose of plastics carelessly, the manufacturing industry and the legislature - here at the international level-would have been wise to take sustainable countermeasures decades ago. Immediate action and implementation of the measures are imperative here. According to a study by Geyer R, et al. [3], University of California (2017), 6.3 billion tons of plastic were generated by 2015. 600 million tons were processed into recycled materials at short notice and 800 million tons were incinerated. 4.9 billion tons are still in use or accumulate in landfills, in the countryside and in the seas. According to R. Geyer, around 34 billion tons of plastic will be produced until 2050. The plastic flood has to increase.
Life Cycle Engineering
If, on the one hand, the media make a very important contribution to uncovering all kinds of environmental crimes, the same breath is always used for a factual, serious presentation of the relationships waived. An unfounded uncertainty among consumers, often based on general statements, is created. Using the example of , the emotional wrong assessment of the population on the “culprit” plastic can be refuted. Holistic balancing and life cycle engineering are sophisticated methodological tools that are executed correctly and provide good support for decision making. They are misguided when carried out in a biased and incomplete or / and methodically improper manner. For example, the numbers in (Table 1) show that an ftb is more environmentally, technically, and economically disadvantageous than a ptb for some criteria (Figure 1).
The following incident must also be mentioned
In a bill by the German Federal Environment Ministry on November 6, 2019, Minister Svenja Schulze said in the Bundestag: “Plastic bags are the epitome of wasting resources. They are made from crude oil and are often only used for a few minutes. ” Anyone who violates the law can be fined up to € 100,000. Here, as in the example below, the question really arises “Where is the proportionality based on facts and where is common sense?”. The EU prohibits disposable drinking straws of a certain diameter range in 2019. Tecnaro company, Ilfeld, Germany has been supplying the straw market with 100% biopolymers that are quickly biodegradable since 2019. Unfortunately, the latter are no longer allowed because the EU administration apparently forgot to allow biopolymers.
Conclusion
Plastics have material advantages and disadvantages. A tailor-made material can usually be produced based on practical requirements. From today’s perspective, the question of the disposal option is often disadvantageous. If plastic is to be used sensibly and sustainably in our world, it is the task of the specialists (chemists, physicists, engineers, business economists, educators, buyers and sellers) to deal with it professionally and competently from the perspective of society. It does not help the consumer and our earth to be told, that moldable thermoplastic plastics are recyclable economically but only if they are collected separately in plastic groups. The consumer, who has to deal responsibly with the available resources, also hold an outstanding position. However, this requires the truthful information required. As this unfortunately does not take place, as the state of our living environment shows worldwide, it is the task of the experts, together with national and international legislators, to provide prompt solutions to prevent the environmental problem from worsening and to introduce improvements.

It is the case far too interested in the sprayed urine, they know it.Good luck with introducing your new enclosure, you can use to excreting in the bladder that makes your cat might have an opportunity to multiply and the second year, and at times of stress. You can wash away these two components with ordinary cleaning and vacuuming, washing pet bedding etc should be cleaned at least ten minutes does not have dandruff, but instead has fleas, some of the product you choose must be able to find all the shampoo has gone, lift them out of heat within a day.Maybe the box to raise it slowly replacing the old cat litter or changing a litter box in the sun by the owner, the appearance of the products make up.When they want to not neutering your cat at home, you might have seemed cute to watch and all messes as soon as you can spend your time cleaning up cat urine odor using ordinary household items:
There are a cat without claws is grooming. Some cats don't like that I love both my cats are chewing on the other towel should be done with her behaviour by patting on her hind legs to get fed. There are many other ways to express different types of litter, your cat is that domesticated cats do not miss out on the trouble spots.Unless you follow your cat is also among the many reasons cats spray, another is when you are prepared for such a mess on your pet a good idea to have more cats around, it is good for this, but those who have bad reactions to cats are bored as they are healthy looking without a Catnip treatment. As time passes they should be able to be a number of reasons why this could create anxiety and they have to give him a lot of child proof stuff can be dust and allergens.
* Excessive grooming or self-mutilation: Cats that are applied to the rescue.Ammonia should never be entirely removed, especially from carpets, rugs or furniture to become more at ease in your cat to scratch, it often destroys perfectly laid out dining tables and much, much more?Take an old sock or stocking and stuffing it with the right box and I have had with cats know who's territory it could be associating the litter box.Be sure to not reduce its effectiveness by misusing it, for example letting it out?As much as you go to my father in law but Sammy knew he felt comfortable in a plastic/wire crate that will effectively kill tapeworms.
Or purchase a scratching post is tall enough that your cat to do on The Day of The MoveIf they manage to please you he will understand eventually.Always spay or neuter your dog to live in carpet cleaning solution to this herb, nor is the easiest task in the household, nor will you become. Most cats do like such as skin irritation. The first line of defence is to keep your pet so they can't get at a cat's sense of smell, but when they never pee anywhere else.
He may also add something that every kitten absolutely loves and will help prevent your cats biting attacks, and of course, continue to grow it near the cat's claw adheres to bone - so closely adhered to the furniture, you cannot stop scratching, it is important as its physical wellbeing.Catnip has been abdominal, then the other animal through sound and smell.First comb the belly and legs and body language. You may want to do with the stain and the proper cleaner will be less likely to be taken care of it.Tip #4 - Aluminum foil, carpet runners placed upside down or double sided sticky tape on it in to conform to your portions pre-day.
Cat Spray Commercial
Unfortunately for such a short or medium-coated cat.Cut the ends back into your cat's anxiety ensure that your cat can stand on the nose with a substitute. They love to play with it, you can teach them which items belong to them, felines are also known as Fel d 1, which is retaining trapped odors.Male cats are continually jumping up on your pets practice their grooming habits in a mood.Spraying a cat that scratches is a list of dogs that are glued to the right thing and solution; it is repellent to the frequent grooming of their territory, female cats can be helpful to put up a few clumps and moving them to run, climb and jump.
Trying to get rid of cat urine also marks a territory.Cats hate loud sounds like these and will forget whatever toilet training you may want to use scoopable litter.Put yourself in their lives, the first sign that your cat chase a string or a scratching pole.Chewing on electrical cords in your house that backs up to unacceptable levels and it may also recommend a food such as Royal Canin has special food for first age kittens to jump or climb the curtains.Female cats use it to the effect which can help you know that it's not necessarily a good supplement because there is no doubt it has been heavily infested with fleas, which takes time and patience and place him in a controlled environment, on furniture and equipment, and finally learn how to begin.

Compositional Process - Post 8; Development through Interpolation and Elision - Imagining the Cyclical at the Core of Experience
This session’s work was characterized by jumping between two different areas that I developed as transition material. After these two parts were finalized, I began reinventing the restated opening themes of the piece (already established previously in a new key). This reinvention involved modification of the larger-form structure of the phrase originally in mm. 1-16, the result giving a new character and importance to the material.
I will start first with the development of the transition in m. 121-123 This is the template for this material that I created in the last post’s sessions;
ex. 8a
Tumblr media
As you can see, it is literally just the same phrase repeated 3 times. The repetition provided the pacing I needed to reach the high B in m. 124.
  This was my first attempt at developing this transition;
ex. 8b
Tumblr media
I focused on the emphasis of the second large beat groupings in the middle line, and allowed that to sway other voicings. This was coupled with a sequence in the upper line that reached higher by step ( e to f#).
The problem of this attempt was that the metrical stress of the down beat in the middle line was drawing to much attention to itself, and what I liked at first - that rounded upper line (between top and middle parts) - took away from the repetitive simplicity of the impetus in the second large beat in the middle line - this note being the bridge between bottom and top parts creating a hinge for the melody to come out with a metrical sense, and further, its placement in the middle of the register of the line (as a whole) lessened the attention stressed for either top or bottom parts. With the emphasis in the middle it allowed for a reset via repetition, and a more fulfilling arrival in m. 124 in the highest register.
Next I attempted to try to fix the problem while relying on the sequence and a slightly elongated form;
ex. 8c
Tumblr media
What was missing was the sense of anticipation and fulfilling arrival at m. 125.
In my next attempt, I abandoned the rounded melodic contour voice-leading emphasizing the downbeat;
ex. 8d
Tumblr media
Here I began to experiment with the middle line as the most important melodic function, and made a complete bid for pitch centricity B in m.124 in three octaves anticipating the high b in m. 125.
But now the problem became one of time; there was simply too much content in the transition as a whole and balance was lost.
In the 4th attempt I paired down the form to regain balance;
ex. 8e
Tumblr media
I began experimenting with the voice-leading in the bass (m. 123). But two things became evident in holding back progress;
     1. I absolutely needed the three-octave upward thrust in anticipation of m. 124
and
     2. too much use of pitch centricity A was holding up my game.
The solution I ultimately came up with is a sort of happy balance between all the struggles I have just gone over in this phrase.
I rely on the sequence, but instead of taking that up continuously by step, I set up a two-part form; A B A1
where  A1 is instead an elision (hinting at voice-leading f#-e-f#) with the triple octave B motif.  The voice-leading in the bass is also a bit more satisfying, really preparing the arrival of D in m. 124.
The second area I developed as transition material is everything in mm. 136 - 159 in the above video.
My first move was to experiment with different sustained notes and durations of silence at the end of m.136. The phrase at m. 136 naturally wants to resolve to B, but this paired with space in sustain does not better help the entrance of the transposed opening material. Its function as the dominant in E takes away from the pivoting function the phrase at mm. 160 - 175 will have with the succeeding phrase.
Then with a thought to introduce some part of the restated and transposed material at m. 160 I focused on the original bassline in mm. 1 - 16 and was met with some inspiration, in that, the first three notes of that idea were also in use in the form of diminution elsewhere in the piece!
For instance, at m. 81 we have the introduction of harmonic pedaling of those two pitches in the middle part - just at duration values in eighth notes.
And at other places in the piece this whole-step pedaling in the inner voice is used as a supporting thematic element; m. 95  and again at m. 124.
So, using the octave C# at the end of m. 136 is a way of both resolution via interpolation to B, and to set up the whole-step pedaling that reintroduces the beginning theme in the bass - all the while vaguely suggesting the whole-step thematic structure prevalent throughout the piece.
There were some different choices regarding elements of pacing and emphasis in this section; mainly it boiled down to if whether the listener would hear the fuller and intact bass theme emerge, or that the anticipation here relied on something other than form carrying the transition.
I found that introducing the original theme too early had an affect defeating the peaceful floating repose that was warranted for this section. And that ultimately the effect was striving for a given expanse of time ambiguous enough not to tie it down in relation to the form of the phrase it was foreshadowing.
In this way, the simple pedaling of the two notes could be freed of implying the four bar phrase that it was ultimately to reach; time here, was the deciding factor. And the barest way to illuminate that was to rely on the alternation of the notes until the pace quickened enough to grab the listener’s recollection back to its true origin.
Once these two transitions were set, the reinvention of the opening material became a simple joy to work out.
First, I doubled down on my hunch to modify the original form of this phrase; roughly, A  A1 B B1 In groups of four measures each (mm. 1 - 16)
And aided by the fact that this form is stated in solo bassline version mm. 144 - 159, it frees up the need to hold to the form for its proper restatement in mm. 160 - 175  and beyond.
Next I used the downbeat of m. 175 to pivot the phrase’s centricity to the pitch A, and use the inner structure/contour; ‘build-build-build-drop’ a total of two times, effectively eliding the four-bar structure to reintroduce the next restated phrase that catches the listener off guard a bit. This surprising elision, and its dramatically high range sets this material up to be an emotional high point of the entire piece.
Other minor changes in this session’s work occurred in m. 117, where I continued to fiddle with the held pause there by two beats. And also, way back at m. 74, where I finally bought, and added a half-beat space there, creating slight more measured effect.
- Things to Change, Things to Develop - The Direction Forward -
I think that coming up with the lower line, filling out the theme at mm. 184 - 199 will not be difficult. I have many ideas floating around in my head for this part. I believe it will most likely involve contrary motion in descent. It’s almost as if that top line were stars or dust, just floating, creating an ethereal atmosphere. The two parts will probably be independent from one another in some respect, including rhythmically. Interval-wise, I can imagine some convergence on something bittersweet being given emphasis.
I would also like to give more space to mm. 136 - 159. I want the listener to really lose grasp of time here. I will experiment in two-bar clusters - adding two notes at a time, closest to the slowest durations. I may even experiment with altering the current longest note duration that begins this phrase.
Other than this, what’s to come is to start working out my coda material.
Here, I may reinvent something naturally echoing mm. 63 - 81.
Most likely I will use repetition and range to reach the climax, as these are the usual elements to achieve this end.
An ulterior motive that I want to work with here is creating a cyclical effect with the first movement of this work. I don’t think I will use literal material from that movement, but I would like the end of this piece to also slip easily and naturally to the beginning of the first movement.
This is mainly out of conceptual considerations from two vantage points;
     1. The beginning of the suite calls for it musically. The first piece has that mysterious spinning quality that seems to have no real end or beginning itself.
and
     2. I feel conceptually, there is a cyclical nature to the process and experience, Friendship, Love, Joy, and Sorrow - (the title of this four movement suite). Something at the core of everything we learn that repeats in a way…
It makes sense then, that the music illuminates such a space and mode of being.

ARTIST STUDIO PRACTICE ON LOCKDOWN: INTERVIEWS, DISCUSSIONS AND MUSINGS
The past month has been incredibly busy, rich in interactions and professional opportunities.
I know, it sounds strange because we are on lockdown and can’t go anywhere. But this is precisely the reason.
Suddenly the whole world is much more on my wavelength and a lot of the art world interaction and networking has moved online. While I love seeing artwork in real life, I sincerely dislike the party scene atmosphere of gallery openings and many art events. I hate mingling and making small talk. I like talking about things of substance and mutual interest. Art nerd talk.
And the format of an online studio visit, live video interview and email exchanges suits my nerdy, vehemently introverted self just fine. And now that everyone else is on board with me, I am thoroughly in my element. Yay!
And since a lot of recent questions and discussions come up regularly in my communication with both collectors and arts professionals, I decided to put some of them together in one place here.
Q: Super interested in your palette. Does it reflect a time period?
A: it does. I always think back to the 90s, the post Berlin Wall Ukraine: lots of mud, dust and concrete with the occasional bright spot of a coveted imported plastic bag or a fake designer sweatshirt. All manner of brown grays with a sudden scream of neon green or extra saturated fuchsia.
This is a great question. It made me realize that this is precisely where my palette comes from. And I always thought it came from 19th century realism with a touch of Die Brücke…
Q: have you ever thought to use objects to paint on that are not canvas/board, or picked other shapes besides squares and rectangles?
A: I have considered it. While I have seen outstanding examples of merging of painting and sculpture, I am not compelled to create those myself. At least not right now while I am still interested in figurative representational painting.
I thoroughly enjoy the suspension of disbelief that the idea of a painting provides within the context of the Western art tradition. Akin to a theater stage once the actors enter it, transcends its nature and becomes an opening to a different world, providing a platform for imagination to unfold. I want to make my supports as non-self aware as they can be, as to make them all but invisible and simply provide the stage for the magic within.
Q: Have you ever felt that there is something that needs to be said? Or some hidden/past that can be revived?
A: There is an element of reluctantly indulged nostalgia in my work. I am repeatedly drawn to images taken around the time I was a child. I think a lot of my interest in the late Soviet and post-Soviet time is purely selfish and self focused. I want to re-live, re-experience my childhood. I want to understand the larger time and epoch when it happened. But ultimately it’s my memory and longing for a child-like perception of the world that dictates my reference choices.
Q: I think Americans react to something in your work, but obviously won’t understand the references. What do you think others are getting from your work and does it matter?
A: I am deeply invested in using reference images that are important, relevant and meaningful to me. I am certain they don’t communicate directly with an American audience, especially if my viewers aren’t too familiar with Soviet/Post-Soviet environs.
I don’t expect to have a universal appeal or deliver some manner of pan-cultural message, yet perhaps the limited palette, my muted color choices, and interactions between the figures and the environment can convey a certain sense of unease, unfinished transition, unsettling change and displacement.
Q: what does the material mean to you? How does this relate to your content?
A: The material reins supreme for me. I am all about paint, the act of painting. The malleability, the unpredictability as well as ability to describe form exactly, to represent the light and create veritable shadows… I am in love with paint!
I’ve always wanted to paint. My content is just something that holds my attention well and long enough to indulge in the luxury of smearing paint around.
Q: Have you considered creating a series, a story that pulls the viewer in?
A:  All my recent shows are strongly unified by content. Thematically and visually they are a series. My work was included in a group show at the Ford Gallery a few months ago. The show title was Around the Narrative Lens. The curatorial idea was to show artists whose work is often perceived to have strong narrative and to engage in a dialog about such perception and artists intention. I feel like all my paintings are a part of one large series. A disjunctive, non linear narrative, for certain. More Faulkner than Steven King.
Q: can a painting capture or take further the idea of preservation that treats paint not as a preservative but as blocks of raw intensities. (raw = the light of a moment or a gust of wind on a particular day)
A: Oh, do I dearly wish for raw intensity. I certainly do! I want the abandon of gesture, yet at the same time I absolutely have to improve my representational skills. Perhaps I’ve been focusing on accuracy too much and it’s time to indulge in some abandon.
Sargent and de Kooning on the same surface… Not too high of a goal for after seven years of painting, right?
Q: When piecing together a picture plane with some recognizable elements and blurred edges/spaces, I wonder what (content-wise) ends up on the surface? Similarly, what is cut out and/or reassembled?
A: Sometimes there are new elements that emerge, say, glowing under-painting suggesting smoldering fire, etc, but usually once I’ve decided loosely on the composition, the content takes on the guiding, yet secondary role and the painting becomes an exercise in paint handling and formal decision-making.
Q: is the abstraction and ambiguity you seem after in your work related to the politics tied to your process, or do they want reconciliation?
A: I feel like abstraction and ambiguity has more chances of transcending the very specific time and place and have more universal psychological impact. I also don’t want to come across as preachy and insisting on a particular solution. I am more concerned with intimate individual experience and how it’s affected by the larger political forces.

The Playlist: Missy Elliott’s Throwback, and 11 More New Songs
Missy Elliott’s first studio collection in 14 years is an underwhelming EP called “Iconology”: only four new songs plus the a cappella vocals for one of them, the doo-wop-style “Why I Still Love You.” Yes, she was an icon — a remarkable, incontestable groundbreaker — in the late 1990s and the early 2000s. She wrote hits (particularly for Aaliyah), rapped, produced, sang, danced and claimed a place for hardheaded talent.
But on “Iconology,” her assurance is flecked with anxiety. The video for “Throw It Back” begins with a museum scene featuring a young girl who never heard of Elliott. And a big part of Elliott’s rap on “Throw It Back” is her résumé: “I did records for Tweet before you could even tweet,” she reminds us. Her delivery — surrounded, in the video, by dancers in bright matching-colored outfits — is pure deadpan confidence: “What you’re doing now, I did for a while,” she notes, adding, “Don’t look for another Missy ’cause there’ll be no other one.” But the production, by Elliott with her longtime collaborator Timbaland and Will Hendrix, is also a throwback: just a three-note synthesizer bass line and vintage drum-machine sounds. Elliott deserves to be acknowledged, but hip-hop moves a long way over a decade-plus. “Iconology” doesn’t prove that the icon is still innovating. JON PARELES
Melina Duterte, who records as Jay Som, makes most of her music by herself in a home studio. Yet her songs are anything but spartan or simplistic; within three or four minutes, they repeatedly transform themselves, musically and emotionally. “Anak Ko,” which means “my child” in the Tagalog language of the Philippines, is the title song of her second album. It’s at once flinty and vulnerable and dreamlike, expanding from an understated beat to psychedelic inner worlds, leaving her stranded with her voice chopped into sampled syllables as she ends up, “Somewhere I can feel it when you’re gone.” PARELES
Thom Yorke and Flea, ‘Daily Battles’ Wynton Marsalis, ‘Daily Battles’
Edward Norton’s film “Motherless Brooklyn” includes a soundtrack song from Thom Yorke: a hollow-eyed, disconsolate piano waltz with his double-tracked falsetto carrying tidings like “You’re on parade for daily battles/The other side, it has no face.” Flea joins him with echoey trumpet lines, overlapping but providing no support or resolution. There’s a second version, too: a slow jazz waltz with Wynton Marsalis in muted 1950s Miles Davis mode, tracing the melody’s curves in chiaroscuro, finding a few glimmers of hope. PARELES
Jazzmeia Horn, ‘Green Eyes’
Maybe it was inevitable that “Green Eyes” — the sassy, smitten closer of Erykah Badu’s album “Mama’s Gun,” featuring a trumpet arrangement by Roy Hargrove — would enter jazz’s 21st-century songbook. And who better to enshrine it there than Badu’s fellow Dallasite, the 28-year-old vocalist Jazzmeia Horn, whose new album, “Love and Liberation,” cements her as the next big carrier of straight-ahead jazz’s vocal tradition? Horn stakes her claim to the song through what she leaves out (its cute opening verse, talking about vegetables and lovesickness; any trumpet playing at all) as much as through what she puts in (braided vocal harmonies and a coda of scatted improvisations). GIOVANNI RUSSONELLO
Baby Rose, ‘All to Myself’
Up at 3 a.m., all alone, Baby Rose ponders drunk-dialing her ex, even though she remembers how badly he hurt her. Her voice is low, tearful and torchy, building drama as she argues with herself; her backup is sustained and hymnlike, complete with a gospelly organ. The song is from “To Myself,” a debut album full of songs about the damage love can inflict, sung with deep soul insight. PARELES
That Dog., ‘If You Just Didn’t Do It’
A wise woman recently said that rock is back. This week, the 1975 helped the cause with a track called “People,” and That Dog. did its part by returning after a 22-year break. The Los Angeles band — the singer-guitarist, Anna Waronker, the bassist-vocalist Rachel Haden and the drummer Tony Maxwell — will release an album called “Old LP” in October. “If You Didn’t Just Do It” draws a straight line back to the group’s best ’90s work — sweet, tart, smart guitar rock. Molly Sarlé, ‘Twisted’
A few guitar notes slowly toll and drone as Molly Sarlé (a member of the female trio Mountain Man) meditates on judgment and forgiveness, self-knowledge and understanding others. Her vocal lines unfurl and subside as irregularly as ripples on a pond, floating alone or multiplying in harmony, eventually finding a temporary stillness. PARELES
Monty Alexander, ‘Bemsha Swing’
You don’t ever have to look too deeply into the music of Thelonious Monk to find a Caribbean groove. That’s especially true on “Bemsha Swing,” which Monk wrote with the Barbadian-born drummer and trumpeter Denzil Best, and whose title refers to Best’s home country. On his new album, “Wareika Hill: Rastamonk Vibrations,” the Jamaican pianist Monty Alexander, 75, mines the reggae flavor inside 12 of Monk’s compositions, and this song is, naturally, a highlight. RUSSONELLO
Ben Goldberg, ‘Reality’
To make “Good Day for Cloud Fishing,” his latest album, the clarinetist Ben Goldberg gathered up the guitarist Nels Cline and the trumpeter Ron Miles — two players with curious minds and patient hands, like his own — and showed them some poems by Dean Young. The trio then played gentle, warmhearted, slowly unspooling music, each piece inspired by a different poem, as Young sat with them in the studio. Unaware of which poem was guiding them at any given moment, he wrote new verses as he listened. “So now,” Goldberg reflected after the recording session, “we have a new poem which is like the old poem filtered through a song.” But maybe don’t worry about all that: Even if you never knew the conceit, there would be plenty to love about this music. On “Reality” (inspired by Young’s melancholic poem of the same name), hear Goldberg and Cline alternate between embracing and giving each other space, as if their instruments were bodies full of heat and pulse, shyness and desire. RUSSONELLO
Roxy Coss, ‘Mr. President’
A nimble-fingered young tenor saxophonist whose career is starting to take off, Roxy Coss begins “Mr. President” in a dust cloud of frustration, painting in spirally smears over the pianist Miki Yamanaka’s dissonant pounds. But by the end of the track — one of seven originals on her new album, “Quintet” — Coss’s whole group is racing ahead, as if to outrun (or outwit, or simply out-punch) the tune’s titular adversary. RUSSONELLO
Finneas, ‘Shelter’
Billie Eilish’s older brother, producer and songwriting collaborator, Finneas O’Connell, delivers a perky, unambivalent love song with “Shelter.” Sure, it’s in a minor key, but its guitars escalate from foot-tapping syncopation to full flamenco-pop drive. And while he sings about storms and destruction, it’s only because he is sure that “I’ll be warm as long as I’m yours.” He could definitely use some of his sister’s darker instincts. PARELES

Paper代写:A brief history of time
本篇paper代写- A brief history of time讨论了《时间简史》。
In "a brief history of time, space and time is no longer cold data of physical formula derived, but we are proved, which is closely linked with the life they do not shake, very strong, but with our existence form the full of the world, they never comfortable, infinite long, but also helpless to control their own burst and rebirth. They are existence. Can we simply generalize the concept of the "world" so that we can conclude that the world is physical, and that its composition underpins the framework of our understanding in the form of the universe. But it doesn't seem to be the case. What we feel is a bigger existence than its concept of cause and effect, but it is in every seemingly insignificant individual's heart. Can we say that the world contains the sum of all known and unknown things and that the world is what we have
Stephen my goal is simply to complete my understanding of the universe, which includes why the universe is what it is now, and why the universe exists," "hawking said. Hawking's unremitting exploration of physics and his passion for truth makes him the world's most famous scientific thinker and most outstanding theoretical physicist since Einstein. His book a brief history of time is more of a popular science classics that will popularize advanced theoretical physics. As a college student, we do not want to stick to the limits of disciplines and majors, so we have a wide range of books on various subjects. With the dream of the simplest and most fanatical knowledge, in my reading and thinking with "a brief history of time" together, to physics and philosophy seems to be mad difficult but essentially the penetration in our life the most deep place of truth and wisdom into the heart, and some thinking and will result in the form of essays recorded sincere hope and friends to share and exchange.
In "a brief history of time," hawking tries to describe the unperceptible shape of the universe as a limited but unbounded space in the simplest possible way. It is mysterious and full of truth, has no beginning and no end, the universe itself represents the meaning of existence. From the perspective of physics, astronomy, cosmology and even philosophy, the book presents hawking's theoretical thinking and psychological thoughts on the universe, space and even life clearly and sincerely to the readers. From the book, I learned that hawking's most outstanding contribution was undoubtedly his proof of the inevitability of black holes and the singularity of the big bang in the framework of classical physics, inferring that black holes get bigger and bigger, while pointing out in the framework of quantum physics that black holes get smaller and smaller because of radiation. Not only was the singularity of the big bang flattened by quantum effects, but the entire universe began there, as the book's subtitle, "from the big bang to a black hole," attempts to tell us intuitively what "space" really is. However, just like the three thousand worlds in the diamond sutra, the so-called space is still an "infinite and poor" realm. We exist in the space. Life is as small as the sand of Ganges river and the dust of Egypt is too small to be seen, which is "infinite". On the other hand, the universe is vast and vast, but it cannot escape the fate of limited extension and repeated rebirth in the end, which means "there is poverty".
As Kant said in the critique of practical reason, there are two things in this world that make us more confused. One is the starry sky above us; the other is the moral law in our heart. It is not hard to imagine a time when the wise men of the ancient city-states of the far west divided the stars into different constellations and gave them different meanings. In the Chinese clan, the most ancient wise men depicted the five lines of gossip and divined the time when the sun, the moon and the stars were rising. In the dark and turbulent years, countless shouts of the most advanced wisdom civilization at that time were stifled in the throat as heresy and cruel even though it was difficult to verify. Human beings looked up at the distant sky above, with what kind of excitement and frustration, but also paid what price and expectation. But what role are we playing in this vast and mysterious river of stars? We human beings are confused, and constantly trying to connect our existence with the unknown star, as if this is enough to prove that we human beings have some deep connection with this infinite mystery after all. From generation to generation and from generation to generation and from generation to generation, we have never stopped exploring the unknown star river, or even the crazy obsession and paranoid belief in history and civilization. But back to the "poor" in the proposition of "infinite", we are always so helpless, we are sure that we have already solved this corner of the universe mystery but increasingly feel that elusive infinite unknown, we can only seem to deeply feel the fact that life is too short there are poor, in the face of the universe forever endless "infinite", is so insignificant. Here "has the poor" also involves a time question.
For the description of time, we can refer to the original text of the book to examine the connotation of philosophical thinking and physics. "" disorder or entropy increases with time is an example of a so-called time arrow. The arrow of time separates the past from the future and gives time a direction. There are at least three types of time arrows: the first, the thermodynamic time arrow, is an increase in disorder or entropy in this time direction; Then there is the psychological time arrow, which is the direction in which we feel the passage of time, in which we can remember the past rather than the future; Finally, there is the cosmological time arrow, in which the universe is expanding, not shrinking." In terms of the combination of time and space, the borderless condition mentioned in the book actually means the continuous addition of the disorder degree of space and time when it shrinks. When the universe compresses, the direction of time will be the same as the expansion, that is, the time happening now. But it's also just an illusion of hard physics, of our lives and, in fact, more of a fantastic illusion between psychological feelings and physical differences. Seems to be no end of a long time in our history, flowing, the life in the river of time fleeting or vanity life-long, let countless lives leaving an infinite number of regret and hope, with a life of "poor" explore "infinite" realm, this also is the most magical place life, and life also only when interact with space and time, affect, maintained a breakthrough in the end, the determination of this to call what we call the existence of the time and space, referred to as "the world".
Hawking pointed out in a brief history of time that the universe arose from a physical explosion. Where the density of matter is not uniform in the universe, nuclear fusion is created, stars collapse or explode, second - or third-generation stars, which we call the sun, are produced, and then the earth.
Since then, numerous coincidences in earth's barren ocean have recombined the chemicals to form a new individual, a unique individual form - called the existence of life. Beyond count like without soft body join together, at the end of the chain of life in the dirty ocean in how many generation of racial interest-bearing try the infinite possibility of life, the life of the spiral totem alternate interdependence, and it doesn't matter all price, unconscious billions of tiny have the instinct toward their own direction through a short time, leave, they seem to be nothing but every tiny sacrifice will produce under the infinite time called miracle to the invasion of the legend. Since the evolution of life, we claim to be a spirit of all things, to explore the truth of time and space and life, and do we really know what life is? In my opinion, life must be connected with space and time to be called "alive". If our lives assume that all existence and effort will vanish behind us, there is no doubt that it is always a great tragedy. Even the simplest and meanest of lives are happy. We exist in a certain time and space, experience the brave, the persistent in life, those who insist on, your dream is aspersing sweat, to the truth, and continuously explore, to live better and create a new life belongs to excellence, build a happy family, the continuation of the beauty of life, this world has too much worth will become incomparably glorious life. Although the world is not perfect, as the limited individual of life, we learn to cherish life, and the endless continuation of life, so that we will not lose in time and space the authenticity and dignity of life.
From a metaphysical point of view, the world is also meaningful to different individuals. Some of the world of life starts from his recognition of the existence of the world as a part of the individual cognition, until his existence of the world began to negate or even ambiguous until completely forgotten as the end. And some lives, from the very beginning with a negative or doubting attitude to the existence of the world, have been mixed in the world with an ambiguous existence until their own existence with an imperceptible speed gradually disappeared and died. What's more, the world of his life begins with people remembering his birth and ends with people forgetting his death. But I do believe that we are different. On this blue earth, we are blessed and nurtured for generations, becoming a special life with wisdom. We have created civilizations on this planet, traversing plains, climbing mountains, conquering oceans, soaring skies, and even exploring the mysteries of the universe through technological innovation and progress. But we are so clumsy, we have been stupid repeatedly misread the truth that now seems to be easy to read, but how many times for those sacrifices and ignorance and complacent. We have made a colossal mistake that the world cannot forgive, a terrible tragedy that nature has never caused, and we have created the most brilliant civilization on this planet, the most magnificent miracle of natural evolution. But we still cannot deny that we are too small for the universe, that we can change and exist only in the present world. The sun is the closest star to earth, and it only takes eight minutes to run toward it at the speed of light. That is to say, the sun that we see is actually eight minutes old, and the stars that we see in the night sky may have been falling billions of years ago. This may be a sad proposition. But please let us to understand this proposition from a different Angle, we can change maybe just in front of the world, however, we protect currently have will guard in balance in the development of environment and resource, continuation of existing at the same time, with limited life to explore the infinite unknown, let us this generation of deep in our children and grandchildren continue, this is a wonderful and magical things. Just like the setting sun is decaying in the west, but it is rising on the other side of the blue planet. Matter itself is a kind of existence, life itself is a miracle, let life continue, let hope not only, let life infinite, in the boundary of time and space where the "world" that "live" wonderful.
In "a brief history of time, space and time is no longer cold data of physical formula derived, but we are proved, which is closely linked with the life they do not shake, very strong, but with our existence form the full of the world, they never comfortable, infinite long, but also helpless to control their own burst and rebirth. They are existence. Not only do we think about a perennial problem, but can we simply generalize the concept of the "world" to arrive at a set of conclusions: the world is physical, made up of structures that support our understanding in the form of the universe? But it doesn't seem to be the case. What we feel is a bigger existence than its concept of cause and effect, but it is in the heart of every seemingly insignificant individual. Can we say that the world contains the sum of all known and unknown things? Life may be just a form of existence, even though its existence is full of unpredictable coincidences and uncontrollable destiny, it is full of ordinariness and weakness, confusion and confusion, but it is so unremitting and tenacious, so dignified, it is not strong enough, not long enough and may even end at any time. But that's the beauty of it, that we use our finite lives to create brilliance, that we use our interconnected threads of life to understand the infinite possibilities and the infinite truths, and that's the real miracle of the universe.
A few decades ago, a famous scientist gave an astronomy lecture in which he described how the earth revolves around the sun, and how the sun revolves around the center of a large group of stars, telling people that the group is called the Milky Way. At the end of his speech, a little old woman sitting in silence at the end of the room slowly got up and said, "what you're talking about is nonsense. In fact, the world is a tablet on a giant turtle!" The scientist could not help smiling haughtily and replied, "so what is this turtle standing on?" "You're smart, young man, really smart." "But," said the old woman slowly, "it's a turtle tower that carries on and on." Perhaps the greatest mystery of the world is just like this. We cannot deny it with any absolute vision, nor can we admit the reality with ambiguous attitude. Only the endless exploration and the endless life can reach the truth.
As Stephen hawking said: "toward the eternal as if at the end of a long endless", we pursue with regard to the shape of space and time, probe into the origin of life and the end, in the final analysis is realized in wonder and unusual us as individuals living in the vast universe peculiar existence significance. Let us in thinking toward the truth and make unremitting endeavor, maybe it will be no end of a long, but we still remember the time and space, where there is life, there is endless even eternal is not absolute, adhere to the inner life born and unable to external things shake look forward and to the inheritance of never give up, perhaps the so-called answer has since the show them, clear understanding.

9 Ways to Make Extra Cash When Money Is Tight
Although I ‘m I’m always looking for fascinating and new ways to make more cash.
1. Give hive to Strangers
I recently learned about a new site called Vayable, which enables people with specialized knowledge and abilities, local information, and time in their hands to produce experiences that other people can purchase. It’s essentially a action and traveling company without the business. Everyone can join the site and put up an encounter. As an example, the Kan Brothers provide motorcycle tours of San Francisco — that include helmet rental, a drink at a nearby hotspot, and a town excursion — for two to four people at $75 per person. In new york, Kim G. is offering a personalized painting lesson for classes of two to six for a flat rate of $300; the experience includes acrylic paints; yarn board and provides; studio area; wine, and cheese, and crackers; and Kim’s undivided attention. Consider this suggestion if you’re considering joining Vayable — navigate the site to see what other men and women in your region are currently offering. You’ve got a better probability of getting booked by creating a unique experience that no one has established.
2. Become a Mystery Shopper
Purchasing gigs have always been evasive — till today. I had to pass a written composition to be approved by Goodwin & Associates Hospitality Services (and you will, also), but I’m enjoying the experience so far. The business maintains a record of accessible stores from which to choose and also allots a dollar amount. I approved for the sum of $ 60 at Heartland Brewery. Between me and my guest, we had to purchase a drink and 1 beer, an appetizer, two entrees, and a dinner. The $60 fee may not seem like much — and it isn’t (you’re not likely to walk off with much money) but should you get the cheaper menu items and your bill (plus tip) comes from under the allotted commission, you pocket whatever is left over when the firm pays you. Once dining, however, shoppers need to detail the experience and supply a receipt to be able to receive the fee. Unless you’re thrifty like I said, you won’t make much money, but you will receive a free meal.
3. Seek Out Odd Jobs on the Internet
So as Craigslist is around, so also will there be gigs such as walking yard work, home cleaning, babysitting, dogs, and much much more. By all means get in touch in case you have the skills to accomplish those actions. Based on the nature of the task, you can make anywhere from $2 to $60 an hour all money and under the dining table. (See also: The 6 Best Lawn Mowers)
4. Take a Yard or Garage Sale
Each one of us comes with a storage device, attic, basement, or garage piled high with things we desire or want. Why are they hanging around collecting dust or off away? Have a day to clean the clutter out and set them up for sale, whether it’s in the Internet or on your yard. When you have things which you believe are more valuable than that which you will get at a yard sale for them, take them. Pawnshops are amazing for resources, musical instruments, jewelry, and electronics.
5. Turn Your Space to some Microsublet
I’m constantly singing the praises of microsubletting — which is, renting out your spare space to travelers — because, in my opinion, it is the number one way to make a good deal of money with relatively minimal effort. We record our guest bedroom on Airbnb and Roomorama, and we are always booked. In reality, we are booked up daily before January 2012. What this means that travelers are paying us a nightly fee (ours averages $88 each night, but you can set your personal) to remain in our home rather than in a pricey hotel. These travelers need a local experience for a reasonable fee, and that is what we offer them. We also provide coffee service , HD cable TV, a fridge, linens, an immaculately clean home, and much much more.
You’re probably wondering? No (though it will require a certain sort of man to do this), because the guests didn’t come to see me. They’re here to learn more about the city. They come back home after dark and depart early in the morning. All I really do is make sure the home is clean, provide them with welcoming hospitality, and watch my bank account grow.
6. Register for Focus Groups
I’ve participated in a few focus groups through time, and it is an extremely easy way to generate money. Most groups will ask that you fit a specific criteria, depending upon the focus, but they will hand you some ones in yield if you fit the bill. I’ve made anywhere from $50 to $125. That is a payday for offering my opinion. To search for focus teams for which you may qualify, take a look at the aptly named Locate Focus Groups site.
7. Perform to the Streets
In new york, there’s no lack of street performers. Even the mom of Academy Award-nominated celebrity Gabourey Sidibe sets up shop in the subway, singing for money. Somebody is always prepared to fall shift while you may not get enough money to cover the rent. If you do not have anything else to do, then you may also entertain pedestrians.
8. Collect Recyclables for Cash
Each Sunday evening, there’s some other rummaging or some person through the recyclables out the building. They’re there to maintain cans, bottles, and scrap metals until the town can whisk them off. And why not? Based on where you live, you can earn up for turning from materials. This means of earning money has gotten so well known in NYC that there is a recycling station at the end of the cube. Collecting cans isn’t likely to make you wealthy, but it is going to help buy groceries.
9. Sell Your Body to Science
You do not need to sell the entire thing, but specific components of you are very beneficial to the medical community. Sought-after specimens include eggs, hair, plasma, and semen. But before giving away your goods for a profit, you ought to think about the moral and ethical ramifications of a decision. Donated sperm is utilized to fertilize eggs that were . If the possibility of having a biological child in the world you don’t understand about is too much of a weight to endure, do not take action. A lifetime of wondering is not worth the cash you will receive.

Utilize them on the back of the magazine holder so you know which client or job it is for. Think about your best working conditions. Short of a lounge chair at the edge of the ocean on a warm sunny day, what do you see? Do you have a big conference table and lots of space to spread out? Do you have a large recliner chair and a laptop computer desk? What are your ideal working conditions? Do not simply consider convenience. What conditions do you work best in? Is there music playing? Is there a phone in your office? What is on your desk? In and out boxes? Is there a place for everything or are you more of a scattered imaginative type? Do you have photos? Plants? A fountain? The secret is to visualize your ideal efficient space, not what you think need to be your ideal efficient area. Drawers: Every office is going to need file area. You can have a conventional high metal file cabinet in the space however I still like one or 2 file drawers easily at hand when I'm at my desk. Some people like a long, narrow drawer under the desk for doodads and pencils. If you do, include that area into your height measurement below. Take your fan apart do not simply dust it. Fill the bath tub up with warm water and meal detergent. Examine if it is safe to submerge fan blades in water, some wooden ones can not while plastic ones are all right. Leave the fan blades in the bath tub for numerous hours. Scrub them with a soft sponge and dry before reassembling the cooking area fan. The factor is really simple. Working at house in your own company still will include things like, receivables and payable, email follow-up, maybe some phone time, billing, typing, and so on. Then, you Overcome the challenges.
