I love that the ML is a human lie detector, but he also has this unerring sense about him when it comes to FL. Both at the residence when trying to hide the baby, he stopped short of killing her because he looked in her eyes. He wasn't paying attention to whether or not she was lying about Wu Gongzi until she forced him to look into her eyes and then he knew.

And it's funny she forced him to look her in the eye because previously she said she never wanted to see his eyes again!

And of course they have this history that only she remembers, but they've also seen each other's eyes through the masks at their meet-cute this side of the timeline.
