creating for a fandom from teenage years to adulthood is so special because you can see where your subconscious was through the history of your works
#just thought about this because i for fun started drafting a fic where marinette's 21 and seeing people her age doing#'grown up' stuff like getting married#and she's like? what? i still go to my mum when i need help? how are people my age having BABIES when i AM a baby?#but last year i was writing a lot about first year of uni vibes or living with flatmates etc#the year before that i was writing about dealing with depression and anxiety and feeling constantly at war with yourself and people you love#before that i was writing about friendships drifting away after the transition from secondary education -> further education#before that it was about dealing with jealousy when you have feelings for someone but not knowing how to properly articulate it#before that it was general stuff about impostor syndrome and worrying about inherently not being good enough#i dont know. i just love that i can see my own growth through how i have written and do write marinette and adrien#they have grown with me...! from 15 to 16 to 17 to 18 to 19 to 20 to 21#♡alizeh talks♡

if it’s okay with you, tell us about your tokyo revengers DR. i’d love to know how you relate to that world, your background story (if that’s okay), and whether you’re part of any gang 🙂🗣
hii, yes omg I would love to talk about it thank you for the request!!
while I really like this dr, it’s definitely one of my more lackluster and simple drs. I usually write more complex backstories for my drs, but for this one I kept it simple for a few reasons + I actually haven’t seen the last season, but I plan on doing it soon and update my script
so basically before baji met the others and formed toman, I moved into his apartment building with my family and our moms became friends instantly because of a common interest and they forced me and baji to become friends too. we hated each other at first because of our literal opposite personalities but after some time we became inseparable. this dr follows the ‘canon’ story from the anime just like the majority of my drs because I just like it the best (well it somehow follows it because I scripted a bunch of deaths and situations out)
so after some time we befriend mikey, all 3 of us start going to his grandpa’s dojo together and after some time we befriend the others and form toman while we’re in our last year of middle school. I aged everyone up because I preferred it this way plus would make more sense irl, so at the moment everyone in toman is finishing up highschool or maybe even in uni (I scripted uni is chill because I couldn’t be bothered to care about studying 😭)
my position in toman is acting vice president because I don’t really like to lead or give orders, but can do it if absolutely necessary when draken and/or mikey are not available for some reason
one very small difference I added in this dr is related to my s/o. I usually don’t script partners because it’s either not on my mind or I’m just curious to see who’d be into me without scripting, but here I added han from stray kids as my s/o because recently he’s really had my attention and I don’t know why, but I just feel like he fits in the tokyo revengers verse/a gang, especially when you think how he used to act predebut 😭
so he’s part of a notorious enemy gang to toman (I didn’t script much about this gang, but honestly I might add some more stuff) and after this enemy gang is brutally defeated by toman they’re going to disband and han will seek me out to join us and yeah
a lot of the time I like to connect my drs with things that happened in this reality to overcome there what I couldn’t do here, and this includes my tokyo revengers dr as well. here I grew up very sheltered and I would always be punished or humiliated by my family if I ever tried to rebel because of their positions in the society I grew up in. in my dr they hold important positions as well (dad is a police officer and mom is a nurse) and me being in a gang without their knowledge is my way of revenge (no pun intended) for both realities. I hate being constrained, and being in a gang, especially as a girl, is my way of saying ‘fuck you’ to my family (and honestly the society I grew up in) for keeping me in chains. I know they only wanted the best for me but it really messed me up as I grew up
also growing up I never had male friends, let alone best friends, because my parents didn’t like me hanging out around guys, so I think my best friend being a guy and having mostly guys as friends is going to be a nice change for me, so yeah that’s definitely another thing I’m excited about
another thing I love about this dr for is how it’s set in the early 2000s. I’ve seen a lot of people (esp on tiktok) complain about places they want to shift to being set in the 90s or 00s because they don’t have access to the internet and tiktok and blah blah blah!! y’all are boring!! the 2000s were literally superior in so many ways. I miss so much the vibe from back then and the technology like the funny phones or when the internet just became a thing and people used yahoo and hi5 to talk to each other; it was so great how people were more connected back then and that’s one of the main things I look forward to;
like it’s going to be so fun how the guys will need to come get my ass personally for a meeting because phones back then had a limit on how much you can call and text, so it was preferred to talk in person unless absolutely necessary 😭
most relationships feel so shallow here, so I’m genuinely excited to go hang out with my friends and talk about everything and nothing instead of everyone playing on their phones; I also scripted yahoo and hi5 are the most used social platforms in japan because those were sooo fun to be on
I hope you found my answer interesting!! <3

can i req gyuvin x male reader where gyuvin wants to ask out the reader but protective YOUNGER brother gunwook blocks any chance he can get but right as gyuvin is about to give up reader asks gyuvin out? you can make this as funny as you like
The perils of asking you out
pairing: gyuvin x male reader ft. protective younger brother gunwook
genre: university au on some serious crack (same verse as sunbaenim), chaotic romcom vibes
tw/tags: love at first sight, protective brother, uni party, alcohol, getting drunk, flirting, junhyeon gives great advice, gunwook is 18 and can have a driver's license, hangovers, eating ramen, confessions, dates, gunwook isn’t trying to be scary — gyuvin’s just scared (and in love), a whole lot of chaos and comedic side comments
wc: 3068 😱
summary: gyuvin’s always wanted to ask you out but he has one big problem and it’s called park gunwook, your extremely protective little brother.
a/n this…hefty word count, srsly thought I wasn’t capable of going over 2k words when it came to requests but oh well. Perhaps it’s because anon (tysm for the req) said “make this as funny as you like” and so this is v much heavily infused w my brand of- err humor. This au was rlly fun to write as well~ Enjoy!

Gyuvin notices you on your first day of university freshman orientation.
Now he won’t claim love at first sight. He found you interesting, is all. People are allowed to find other people interesting. He wanted to get to know you, which was fine. People should get to know other people.
And okay, so what if he was in love, just a little, you know? People are allowed to fall in love with other people, goddamit. But it definitely isn’t love, probably.
People can also check the schedules of other people to see what classes they have together. Why? So Gyuvin would have opportunities to talk with you.
And there’s nothing wrong with that. People should talk to other people. Social interaction is a basic need. The reason people have needs is so that they can function properly.
Right, proper, solid logic.
“Hi.”
You look up at the brunette boy who’s taken the seat beside you.
“I’m Kim Gyuvin.”
You smile, introduce yourself and say:
“Nice to meet you, Gyuvin-ssi.”
Gyuvin swears he can hear wedding bells.
Which is okay. Totally fine. People are allowed to daydream about their wedding to-
Yeah fuck that.
It’s your first week of freshman year and Kim Gyuvin has a gigantic, humongous, big, fat crush on you. And that’s a fact.
__________________________________________
Gyuvin meets your younger brother when you two are about halfway through the first semester.
Things are going well for you by all counts. While you don’t always run in the same circles, you’re always friendly in class and he’s more or less claimed the seat next to you for most of the ones you share. You’ve partnered up for a project and he’s offered to bring back the phone charger you forgot you lent him last time you worked together.
Eventually, you gave in, sending him your address after he repeatedly told you it wouldn’t be a bother. Unlike most first year students like him who lived in the dormitories, you stayed at an off-campus apartment building nearby. Gyuvin’s almost bouncing off the walls of the elevator at the chance to see you. Maybe he can even ask you out for dinner if you’re free tonight, he thinks giddily as he knocks on the door.
Unfortunately, all his daydreams die when the door swings open and he is greeted by someone who is definitely not you. They’re about the same height but the other boy still has about an inch on him and a whole lot more muscle, nearly bursting out of the door frame. Gyuvin’s about to apologise, turn around and look for the right apartment when he hears what he clearly knows is your voice calling out.
“Wookie! Who is it?”
Like an angel, you appear behind the boy, your face brightening up as you spot Gyuvin.
“Ah, hi Gyuvin-ssi. Thanks for coming all the way, you really didn’t have to.” You shoo the boy away although he manages to throw Gyuvin another dark look before shuffling back in.
“No, no, no worries at all, it’s really not a problem.” he reassures you weakly, still shaken from the encounter. You glance behind you and wave the other boy off once more.
“Don’t mind Gunwookie.” Gyuvin’s mind is definitely preoccupied by the soft white sweater you’re wearing and how cute and angelic you look in it. Yessir it is.
“He’s just staying with me for the weekend. Never thought my little brother would miss me that quickly, you know?” You laugh as Gyuvin’s mind finally processes what you’re saying.
Little. Brother. That unnervingly large, definitely intimidating boy that’s definitely glaring at him from where he’s seated on the couch was YOUR LITTLE BROTHER???
“I see.” Wow, real smooth Gyuvin.
“Are you alright, Gyuvin-ssi? Are you feeling well?” Your eyebrow furrow at his strange behaviour.
“No, no worries. I’m good.” Gyuvin replies hastily. Right! He’ll ask you if you want to have dinner. “I was actually wondering if you-”
“Hyung, what time are we going? I’m hungry.” And failed.
“Aish you brat, can’t you see that I’m having a conversation over here?” You scold before turning back to Gyuvin, apologetic.
“Really sorry about him Gyuvin-ssi, would you want to join us for dinner? There’s a good soondubu place just down the road that I’m taking Gunwookie to.”
“I, uh-” Gyuvin would have definitely leapt at a chance to have dinner for you if not for the 6-foot devil menacing at him, gaze promising death if he agreed.
“I actually had dinner already,” he said instead. You look even more confused.
“But it’s 4pm?” Right, way to go Gyuvin, so smart.
“I like having dinner early, it’s better for digestion.” He salvages with a total bald-faced lie.
“Huh, I should try that but I love my midnight snacks so-” God if Gyuvin could ever be more in love with you than this. Okay, come back to your senses, Kim Gyuvin.
“Oh, I hate to keep you from your dinner so I’ll get going now.”
You smile. Wedding bells- no, no, no stop it.
“I guess I’ll see you around, Gyuvin-ssi.”
Gyuvin smiles back dopily.
“Yeah, see you.”
The door closes and he walks back to his dormitory.
Asking you out is going to be harder than he expected. He thinks, shuddering at the memory of Gunwook’s dark glare when he opened the door.
As he rummages through his backpack, his hands pull out a very familiar cord and plug.
It’s your charger.
He might as well go die in a hole. Gunwook would definitely be happy to bury his body.
__________________________________________
Gyuvin eventually returns your charger. His dignity on the other hand? Well no one knows when that’s returning.
You’re not even annoyed about it. Laughing at him all good natured and teasing him about his very real fears but it's not like you know that (or Gyuvin’s ever admitting it).
“Did Gunwookie scare you off? He used to be like that when we were in highschool, challenged anyone that gave me trouble,” you chuckle while Gyuvin tries his best not to audibly gulp.
“You’re not going to give me trouble, are you Gyuvin-ssi?”
You’re trouble, he thought. Troubling my heart as we speak.
“I hope not.” he says instead, making you laugh even more.
The class settles down as your professor enters. You pat him lightly on the shoulder. His heart jumps traitorously.
“Don’t let my brother scare you off, Gyuvin-ssi, he might act all protective but really, he’s just a big teddy bear.”
Gyuvin definitely does not believe that but he appreciates the sentiment.
Love will have its challenges, he thinks as he watches you.
And no challenge, not even a terrifyingly overprotective younger brother who’s built like the hulk will stop him.
He’ll ask you out soon, he will.
Then Gyuvin realises the whole class is staring at him, even you.
“The answer to the question, Gyuvin-ssi?” The professor asks expectantly.
Shit.
You mutter the answer under your breath and he repeats it. The professor nods approvingly and moves on. You smile at him when he thanks you.
Yep. He’s marrying you asking you out and nothing will stop him.
__________________________________________
The next time Gyuvin tries his chances is at a party.
Hosted by the university’s resident social butterfly, definitely in the running for Ms. Congeniality, senior Sung Hanbin, it’s one of the bigger events of the year for the second semester’s O-week. And Gyuvin was lucky enough to have received an invitation personally, having met the friendly senior at one of the uni organisations he joined.
It was exciting. While he had attended his fair share of welcome parties during his own orientation, there had been rumours floating around about the party the seniors were planning to start their last semester with a bang.
It also just so happened that you were going as well, having been invited by a close friend of Hanbin. Gyuvin was confident. And a little liquid courage wasn’t going to hurt.
You arrived a bit later than he did, accompanied by your friend from the foreign student society of which you took part to improve your already excellent English skills. You’re greeted by Seok Matthew, a junior and another member of the society who happened to be Hanbin’s close friend and your invite to the party.
Gyuvin was in deep, groaning to Junhyeon about how good you looked, your shirt cut low to show off your collarbones and multiple earrings adorning your ears. At that moment, you spot him and wave, making your way towards him. Gyuvin panics.
“Fuck, fuck, what do I do?”
“If you think he’s hot, you should shoot your shot.” Junhyeon offers, the very fountain of wisdom he is.
You greet Junhyeon before turning to the brunette and wow, your smile is dazzling.
“Gyuvin-ssi, how are you finding the party?”
“It’s great,” he replies by default, mind going blank. “Hanbin-hyung definitely exceeded expectations.”
Come on, Gyuvin. You can do it. Summon some rizz.
“Do you wanna get a drink?” He manages, gesturing at his empty cup. You agree easily, and he leads you to the bar that's been put up. So far, so good.
Unfortunately for him, you recognize the blond bartender, immediately striking up a conversation.
“Ricky-ah!” Gyuvin reels back when you address him casually. “How’d you end up as the bartender?”
“Zhang Hao-hyung” the other says, naming another close friend of Hanbin’s. The blond’s eyes flick between you and Gyuvin as he polished one of the glasses. What for? No one knew. Most party goers seem to be holding plastic cups.
“So what can I get for you?”
Two drinks, six shots and three drinking games later and Gyuvin is holding on for dear life. Literally, he’s about to fall off his seat.
The only good thing going for him is that apparently you’re a clingy drunk, latching onto his arm in a way that would definitely give him a heart attack if it wasn’t for all the alcohol he had in him.
“Gyuvinah…” you mumble sleepily as he struggles to keep you both upright.
“Mmmmm?”
“You’re really handsome, you know?”
Gyuvin truly has no thoughts. He must be in some somaek induced hallucination or something.
“Seriously, the first time I saw you with your brown hair, you looked like a prince.” You continued on, oblivious to his inner turmoil.
Gyuvin suddenly felt way too flustered, his cheeks already flushed hot from the drinks.
“Would you wanna step outside? Get some air maybe.” He suggests.
“Okay!” You agree as you both stumble for the door, whistles and hoots following you.
“Get him, boy!” Someone, probably Haruto, your friend from earlier, yells. Gyuvin ‘s about to turn around and shush them when you groan and bury your face into the back of his shirt.
“They’re so loud, let’s goo.”
You’re finally outside, sitting together on a bench outside the party venue. Gyuvin can’t get over the feeling of you leaning on his shoulder. Come on Gyuvin, say something to him.
“Did…did you mean what you said earlier?”
You lift your head up if only to squint at him suspiciously.
“Yeah…why?”
And then you smile, dazed, reaching out to pat his cheeks.
“So handsome Gyuvinah” you slur and Gyuvin finally has the nerve to take your hand in his. You stare at both of your hands.
“You’re holding my hand.” You say more of a statement, then a question.
“Yeah.” He swallows nervously, here it goes. “Hey, I was wondering maybe you’d like to go-“
HONK! You and Gyuvin nearly jump out of your skins as a car nearly scares the living daylight out of you. The headlights are bright and Gyuvin has to squint to see the driver as he gets out of the car. Oh no, it can’t be-
“Wookie?”
You say as your younger brother makes a beeline for you. You take a minute to look at him up and down and then look at the car behind him and gasp.
“You’re a baby!” You declare, shaking your head at him cutely. “Babies aren’t supposed to drive cars.”
“You texted me to come pick you up, hyung.”
You look adorably perplexed. “Did I?”
Gunwook’s ignoring you, glaring holes into Gyuvin’s hand still holding yours. Gyuvin drops your hand like a dead fish and you whine.
“Nevermind, Gyuvinah doesn’t like me anymore. Take me home, Wookie.” You say as Gyuvin’s mouth drops open and Gunwook hoists you up, half carrying you into the car.
His mouth remains open as the car drives off. Godammit. His stomach lurches. Gyuvin promptly decides to empty its contents onto the side of the bench. Classy.
__________________________________________
After waking up with a raging hangover and a whole lot of regret, Gyuvin decides to regroup, maybe collect some of his dignity and self-respect again. If he can manage to find it, that is.
Thank god for the weekend, he thinks. One of his roommates decides to make ramyeon, all of them slurping silently and nursing their own hangovers.
And because Junhyeon is Junhyeon, he absolutely had to ask.
“So did you shoot your shot?”
Gyuvin groans. More like he shot himself.
Junhyeon pats him on the back sympathetically.
“You’ll get there, bro. From what I saw, he seems pretty into you too, you know.”
A little ramen escapes his mouth and falls back into his makeshift bowl with a sad little plop.
“You really think that?” Junhyeon steps back, clearly not ready for how intensely hopeful his roommate suddenly becomes.
“Okay hold up, woah there. I dunno what he thinks but I saw what I saw at that party. And you cute, bro, no cap.”
“But does he find me cute?” Gyuvin says forlorn again, shovelling noodles into his mouth.
“Well he gotta be finding something in you if he keeps hanging out with you.” Junhyeon offers because yes, he’s truly a well of knowledge.
Gyuvin tips his bowl back and finishes off the soup before staring at its empty state. So sad, truly a tragedy.
__________________________________________
There’s class the next day. And it happens to be one of the classes he has with you. God, how can he face you after that night.
“Hi Gyuvin-ssi,” you greet, back to formal speak much to his dismay.
“Hello,” he says and because he’s a simp little concerned, he asks.
“Are you feeling better after that other night?”
Your face falls. Immediate regret.
“Oh! Oh- um- yes I got home safely. Thanks for-“
And before you can finish, the professor enters and you start class. Now if Gyuvin wasn’t all nervous and fidgety, he would have noticed that you were in the exact same boat.
When the professor wraps up and you begin to pack up your stuff, Gyuvin takes a chance to call your attention only for you to do it at the exact same time. You look at each other and laugh, the ice broken just a little.
“No, no you go first.” Gyuvin insists.
“Ah…” you hesitate, choosing your words carefully. “I just want to say I’m sorry for my behaviour the other night and I was wondering if you wanted to get dinner sometime? My treat, you know, for taking care of me.”
Gyuvin should assure you it’s fine. He should politely accept your invitation and say that taking care of you isn’t a bother. Instead, he sputters out.
“Like a date?”
You freeze. He freezes. You stand there for an incredibly long time (like 15 seconds, wow). Alarm bells start to go off in Gyuvin’s head. Finally-
“I mean…it can be a date if you want it to be a date?”
Alarm bells turn into wedding bells. Say it, Gyuvin, say I do.
“Totally…I mean, yes, I’d like it to be a date, very much.”
You smile softly before glancing at the time, your face falling again.
“Oh shit, I need to get to my next class, I’ll text you the details later, see you!”
Gyuvin watches as you rush out. It’s okay. He’s fine. Actually no, he’s not fine. But he did it. And it only took a whole semester and some but he’s finally going out with you.
__________________________________________
One blissful winter break later and Gyuvin’s practically skipping to your place. Maybe the chill bit at his skin and the wind whipped in his face but he didn’t care, he was finally going to see you, his boyfriend, again and the cold never bothered him anyway.
Your one date at the start of the last semester had turned into five, then ten dates until he was officially your boyfriend. Walking each other to their next class, holding hands, carrying your bag for you, all that good stuff.
He’s even met your family over the holidays and you met his. Gyuvin would like to think that even Gunwook was warming up to him, just a little bit. He had come with you to support the younger boy during the CSAT exams and Gunwook actually thanked him once the exam was done. Still, he thought as he knocked on your door enthusiastically, that boy still intimidated him and he’ll definitely need to work on not flinching-
The door swings open and Gyuvin flinches. It’s like deja vu.
“Hi hyung,” Gunwook greets him wearing what looks like a letterman jacket from their university. Gyuvin must be dreaming, definitely.
He’s about to pinch himself when you appear behind your brother.
“Gyuvinie!”
“Hello my aein~”
No he’s definitely not dreaming and your brother is still there.
“Hi Gunwook!” He nearly squeaks out before you’re shoving the younger boy away to wrap your arms around your boyfriend.
Gyuvin’s brain promptly malfunctions but the next part of what you say brings him back online.
“Can’t you believe Wookie got accepted into our uni? He’ll be staying with me until we can find a bigger unit to rent, maybe you can live there too!”
“Sure…” Gyuvin said numbly, imagining all the ways Gunwook could fake his death after he dared to defile you. You frown.
“Don’t tell me Wookie still scares you?”
“No! No, what are you talking about?”
He definitely does. So sure, Gyuvin’s managed to make you his. But will your brother accept that? Well, that’s for him to find out. Because yes, it will be a long time before Kim Gyuvin realises that Park Gunwook isn’t as intimidating as he appears to be.
In the end, they’re both just big softies and they’re especially soft for you.

15 questions for 15 friends
i was tagged by the wonderful @johaerys-writes, thank you so much!
ARE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?: nope! my mother found a book of rare names, wrote down a whole bunch, and my father only liked one of them. fun fact, only three people in the entire world have the same first name as me ⭐
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?: oh man in terms of like any tears at all…like this morning because my PMDD is hitting me hard at the moment and i saw my dog being cute and it was all too much for me but in terms of a big, proper cry…probably a couple of weeks?
DO YOU HAVE KIDS?: i am actively filled with repulsion and dread at the thought of having children so it’s a good thing i don’t
WHAT SPORTS DO YOU PLAY/HAVE YOU PLAYED?: i used to play hockey, netball, tennis and rounders at school and then whatever they made us do in PE but i’m not a huge sports person, especially not teams ones!
DO YOU USE SARCASM?: too much. i realised in my teens that if i’m deliberately deadpan and sarcastic all the time, people just think it’s funny and don’t look at me weirdly when i’m having an especially autistic day and can’t mask well because it just blends into my usual demeanour. everyone at work thinks i’m very dry and sarcastic when actually it’s mostly just me failing to understand social cues.
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT PEOPLE?: gosh honestly i really don’t know. although i do pay a lot of attention to people’s smiles, i think you can learn a lot about a person by how they smile. whether it’s forced or natural, if their eyes smile too, if they hold their happiness back or let it come out unrestrained, etc., so i’ll go for smiles!
WHAT'S YOUR EYE COLOUR?: boring boring blue
SCARY MOVIES OR HAPPY ENDINGS?: can we not have both? i’ll always have to pick scary movies though because horror is my favourite genre, but i love a final girl ending!
ANY TALENTS?: ooh this is tough because for me a talent is something you’re just naturally good at, but the things that other people would probably say i have a natural talent for are my hobbies which i’ve worked at for a long time so i wouldn’t be able to say if it’s an innate talent or just a skill i’ve honed. i think i’ll probably say playing the double bass (or upright bass in the USA) - i tried it out at a musical open day thing at my school and decided i liked it, and then twelve weeks later i sat a music exam for it and passed with top marks despite it usually taking several years to get to that point!
WHERE WERE YOU BORN?: england. i was doomed from the start.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?: my main ones would be writing, reading, gaming, obsessively researching and then yapping about my special interests, and baking! i also do some crafty stuff when the mood strikes (i’m not really very good at it, but that’s chill, because it’s just for fun) and i’m not sure if it counts as a hobby but i love going on the trampoline!
DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS?: i have my dog who is simultaneously the reason i get up in the mornings and the reason i don’t want to get up in the mornings, and also a crested gecko who mostly just vibes doing her own thing.
HOW TALL ARE YOU?: 5’7”/1.70m
FAVOURITE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL?: this changed so drastically over the years! when i was younger it tended towards history, then when i started secondary school i still loved history but classics became my main area of interest, but after i decided i didn’t want to pursue a career in that field i cast about a little bit and realised that while i hated, like, plant biology and chemical reactions, i was really into specific aspects of science and that’s what i’m studying at uni now!
DREAM JOB?: forensic anthropologist, i’m undertaking my master’s in this and i really hope i get to have a career in this one day, it’s my life’s ambition.
Tagging (i barely talk to anyone on here lmao so it's definitely going to be fewer than 15! also there's with no pressure): @stressedanime @royalthorned @a-good-sandwich @toy-soldiering @claudiadiary

15 questions, 15 people:
I was tagged by dear @a-very-fond-farewell 💚I hope you get your lobster sanctuary! 💚
-
1. are you named after anyone?
nope
2. when was the last time you cried?
I don't know, I don't really cry
3. do you have kids?
never
4. do you use sarcasm a lot?
yeah, quite casually in everyday life, but I try to tone it down
5. what’s the first thing you notice about people?
I'm bad with faces, I might not recognise someone who's new to me after interacting with them every day for 2 weeks (based on a true story) xdd so what I notice at first is the overall vibe they present, which is a combination of their posture and body language, clothes and accessories, facial expressions etc. This doesn't tell absolutely accurately who they are, but it shows how they want to be perceived mixed with some unconscious elements they might not notice themselves, which is interesting to me
6. what’s your eye color?
eh idk, people say they're blue when I'm in a blue pool, green when I'm among greenery, grey when it's a bit dark. I guess they're a subtle mixture that looks like nothing until there's something external that brings out one of the colors. it's a bit annoying tbh, so I usually just say grey
7. scary movies or happy endings?
i love horror, very high on my list of fav genres, but I also love happy endings, just not necessarily in horrors. In media other than horror I need HE or I feel down. So i'd say: both
8. any special talents?
I've had a music talent since I was little, couldn't understand how other kids didn't know how to play the flute or keep the rhythm. I've also heard various ppl say that I somehow know how to arrange things to be aesthetically pleasing, but I could never explain how to do it, it just looks better a certain way. A bit for drawing, considering how fast I improved compared to some other people, but I haven't pursued it farther than sketching. Sport comes pretty smoothly to me and my body, I've always been "the athletic girl"
I may sound like i'm bragging but i try to be objective for my own self. After all "talent" means nothing and is just bitterly wasted if you're not practising, so for me it can be more of a shameful thing that I let rot rather than something to be proud of. It's also so useless when teaching others, because you don't know how to explain shit when you do it intuitively, which tripped me a lot of times while trying to teach someone. Very annoying and sometimes isolating in a sense that you just vibe with yourself instead of sharing the experience with others
9. where are you born?
in a hospital
10. what are your hobbies?
reading, writing, taking care of plants, pen & paper rpgs, collecting weird trinkets and paintings, drawing, horror movies, detective stories, listening to podcasts
11. do you have any pets?
we have a dog but I moved out of my family home recently and the doggo stayed there, I still visit often and walk him, but it doesn't feel like he's really mine anymore :(
12. what sports do you/have you played?
I did gymnastics and horse-riding for a few years as a kid, used to jog in middle/high school, I also go on a trip to the mountains at least once a year to hike bc I'm obsessed with it. Recently I like to do yoga and fitness to bring my body to its limit and stretch all the pains that keep accumulating. I almost didn't move from my desk for over a year some time ago because i was too busy with uni, work and a few other big things, and it ended up in a neck injury that escalated to a few months of rehab. Now I move a lot so those nightmarish pain and several contusions don't repeat
13. how tall are you?
taller than most women and many guys
14. favourite subject in school?
all languages, math, biology
15. dream job?
neuroscientist, astronaut or pilot of small planes

I have no idea who did this already, feel free to ignore as always. Tagging @prommethium @miyakuli @still-gathering-roses @carmine-sunlight @wikipedie

Hey. Hope you're having a wonderful day
Just wanna say that your characters are amazing. Exactly what got you into creating them ? Any sort of inspiration ?
Hey, I'm having a good night and hope you too !
Thank you so much, I'm happy you appreciate them :) I'm happy to tell the tiny story behind their creation-
So, back in march/april 2021 I was in my last year of my bachelor's degree studying animation, and I still wasn't sure about going in the master's degree in animation as well after that. There were a lot of struggles at this moment but anyway
The thing is that for the master we had to create a short film, alone and (almost) fully done by ourselves, so our teachers asked us to start a sort of book or sketchbook to do researches and brainstorming about the film during summer. Even if I wasn't sure to continue I started it, and sketched a lot of stuff and various ideas I had at this moment
Then I ended up not going in the master's degree and taking a gap year instead, but I still continued to sketch stuff in that sketchbook because I still wanted to do my own film at some point. Uni or not the diploma was mostly a reason to make a film, but I in any case I wouldn't be free to do like I want because of teachers' reviews etc. I wanted to make it truly my own, maybe not perfect but just give it a try and be free to tell the story I want.
But I was frustrated because I wasn't finding something that would make me feel like it's my own stuff, it was too similar to RWBY for a lot of things (already a big inspiration at this moment, I was in the V8 brainrot for the first half of 2021 lmao). So I wasn't really going anywhere
BUT, randomly in december 2021 I had a pretty wild and pretty dream, I decided to paint digitally the main scene of it and doodle some concepts I had from it in my sketchbook :
I also ended up writing and composing a tiny song based on it (in french sorry-). It's not perfect at all or anything because I'm not a pro or super good, but creating a link between visual art & music helps me a lot most of the time so I do it (also for fun 'cause I love it) :
youtube
After that it didn't evolved much outside of the fact that I already had some sort of script for a "short film" or a teaser idk, I wrote that when I was in uni last winter. But I still wasn't really sure about the main characters or even their designs, even if Gris was the one I thought the most about and changed a lot of stuff
So last january/february I started to work on a first design and turn around for Gris :] (she didn't even have a name yet at this moment)
I continued to think of it until recently at the end of this summer where I sketched another design for her. As for Fauve, I knew for a long time I wanted Gris to have a strong bond with someone to help her go through stuff (and also a gf lol). I never really worked a lot on Fauve, I only knew she was going to have red or brown hair. x)
And I just sketched a first rough thing after Gris and liked it, so I kept it, it was really simple and easier than Gris' researches aha, idk Fauve's vibes felt pretty natural and logical after Gris was done.
Also if you're curious here are some of the first design ideas for them I had back in 2021/2022 :]
It changed a lot--
Anyway, now I'd love to develop more stuff and make a short film :]

15 questions for 15 friends
I was tagged by my dear @elveny, thank you so much!! 💙
ARE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?: No! Well, yes, after a character in Greek mythology, but not after a parent or grandparent or anything like that.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?: Yesterday. I was reading the Iliad again for an anon ask and was going through the part where Achilles kills Hector and oooh that scene got hands 🥲 I cry a lot though, I'm a crier, and a lot of the time it's about patrochilles so it's par for the course really lol
DO YOU HAVE KIDS?: Nope.
WHAT SPORTS DO YOU PLAY/HAVE YOU PLAYED?: I'm fairly active generally but I don't play sports at all because I don't like them. I tried several sports while in school before accepting that I simply don't like team sports and I'm not good at them, but I had much more fun with solo sports. I swam for several years somewhat competitively, and I also did track for a while.
DO YOU USE SARCASM?: I think so? But usually only with people I'm very comfortable with, because I can never know what would go down well or not with a person I don’t know.
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT PEOPLE?: That’s hard to answer because I feel like it depends on the situation. Most of the time, it's body language and their general vibe. Meeting new people can be nerve wracking so I try to "read" them and act accordingly, if that makes sense? I don't want to step on any toes or say the wrong thing so figuring out what the other person's mood or interests might be usually helps. But that often means I miss out on other things on first encounter, like... their eyes or smile or something?? Lol idk man, socialising while on the spectrum is hard 🥲
WHAT'S YOUR EYE COLOUR?: Brown.
SCARY MOVIES OR HAPPY ENDINGS?: I think I'll pick scary movies because I do like horror and dark stuff and I don't care if the ending is happy or not as long the story is interesting.
ANY TALENTS?: it took me so long to think of something for this and I honestly don't know? I'm assuming by 'talents' we mean something you're born with, not something you've worked hard at like some kind of craft, right? In that case, I think I have pretty good visual memory, especially when it comes to books and articles and such, or the written word in general. Oh and I'm weirdly good at orientation, I can usually find my way no matter where I am. Which isn't such a huge deal now in the era of google maps, but back when there was no gps it was a pretty useful skill to have haha.
WHERE WERE YOU BORN?: Greece.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?: Writing, reading, gaming, crocheting, drawing, going to museums! I'm constantly on the look out for new exhibitions and stuff, it's my favourite thing in the world to do.
DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS?: A darling and dastardly cat, aka my extension when I'm at home.
HOW TALL ARE YOU?: 1,68m
FAVOURITE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL?: Oh god I freaking hated school, absolutely hated it LOL I can't think of one thing I liked in it. I guess I only enjoyed the very last year of high school when I was preparing for the Panhellenic exams because like... it felt like there was finally some kind of purpose or reason to be there at all, even though there was a lot of pressure. I loved Ancient Greek, Latin, History and Philosophy.
DREAM JOB?: I don't have one, I don’t dream of labour 🙃 I don't think there's any sort of job anyone could do in this capitalist hellscape we're all currently living in that would be enjoyable enough to make up for, well... living in a capitalist hellscape lol. If I could, I'd just go back to uni, probably. That was my happy place and I miss it. And I'd also write a bunch and read a bunch and take up all sorts of creative hobbies, and probably travel more.
Tagging forth to a bit more than 15 friends lol sorry (and I know I'm forgetting ppl): @baejax-the-great @thiefylilelf @vimlos @mogwaei @gloriesunsung @aymayzing @cordelia---rose @knicknocknick @aristi-achaion @peachandfig @heypax @darlingpoppet @tevivinter @mary-aries @tragediegh @pikapeppa @figsandphiltatos always with love and without any pressure

lilyrosekiller after midnight……. on my knees asking for lilyrosekiller after midnight…..
kissing you. thrilled to provide. so this fic is sude @/stillagoodwitch 's fault. bc they told me like back in december that i should write lilyrosekiller based on chappell roan's after midnight and i'm nothing if not at their every beck and call so here we are!!
the general premise is lily having just broken up w james, heading out to a bar wherein she encounters barty and evan....
i posted a snippet a while ago which is basically where the fic has left off since i last tried to write it. am currently Stuck and deeply overthinking every decision i've made w it but basically the gist of what happens next is snogging. then a bar fight which results in the three of them getting kicked out of the bar. then breaking into a building to watch the sunrise from the roof. then fucking on said roof...
and it was also meant to be a fairly speedily-written fic lol but here we are six months later bc i kept getting side-tracked by lily evans' beautiful mind. bc when i say she's just broken up w james, i mean that james was down on one knee in front of her, asking her to marry him. and she said no. and i apparently had rather a lot to say about that.... snippet for your consideration:
Two weeks earlier, after breaking up with James, after the disaster proposal, Lily had packed her things. James had come back to their shared flat with her for some reason, tears still streaming down his face, and for the first time, Lily hadn’t felt the need to comfort him, or try and make him feel better, or take back the decision that felt like the only decision she had ever truly made to suit her own best interests. Instead she had packed her things, just the essentials, she was planning to start afresh and she didn’t want to carry around memories like an endless chain always tying her back to James, she was cutting herself loose. She had looked at James one last time - because they had been together for four years, they had plans together, they had a future mapped out between them, a house and a wedding and a family that Lily didn’t want anymore, maybe had never wanted. She looked at him one last time because there were happy memories too, laughter and adventures and love - she thought there must have been love, surely there was love - and she said goodbye to him. He was sitting on the bed they had shared for the last five months, since they had moved into the flat together for their second year of uni, tear stains on his face and just looking so lost, confused, bewildered maybe, and Lily had said goodbye and walked out without a backwards glance. She feels free again now; she wasn’t sure when she had stopped feeling free, maybe when she had started her degree, medicine, setting out a career path for herself, something that felt like it was set in stone, or maybe when she had started dating James, giggling when people told her they’d look good together instead of hitting them, giving in to expectations and his infuriating persistence, or maybe it was when she had started at Hogwarts, eleven years old with her scholarship and her sister’s jealousy and her parent’s ever-higher standards. At some point, a noose had started to tighten around her neck, a chain around her ankle, endless ropes tangling around her, squeezing at her until she was contorting herself into the shapes that she thought would please the most people, twisted and uncomfortable and painfully unreal no matter how much she tried to convince herself they weren’t.
okay reading this back now it's in need of some edits but you get the vibe. she's cutting loose. she's leaving james behind. she's living in a shitty hotel on the other side of the city and spending most of her evenings going to different bars. she's figuring out what she wants and what she likes. she's forcibly knocked herself off the pedestal that everyone in her life has always put her on and now she's the phoenix rising for the ashes in the aftermath.
and she's coming across barty and evan <3 and they're such a tightknit couple, so incredibly comfortable w each other and they've clearly been together for years and see and know each other in a way that she doesn't feel like she's ever really been seen or known. and they're looking at her across the bar throughout the night, locking eyes w her, seeing her. and she's so drawn to them, pulled into their orbit and like. she's obvs 'wearing that dress and red lipstick' and 'she's been a good, good girl for a long time' and it's 'after midnight' etc etc etc
anyway mwah mwah mwah thank you so much for asking i do love them even if they've been getting on my nerves as of late and i'm hoping that when i have time again things will flow....

thank you for the tag @borntogayz <3
star sign: pisces
favourite holiday: christmas (for the cozy vibes and food)
last meal: rice and stir-fried veggies
current favourite musician: this changes daily, but lately i've been listening to a lot of palaye royale (damn you, liquid) and nostalgic 2000s music like britney spears, beyoncé, christina aguilera and the pussycat dolls.
last music listened to: i'm listening to palaye royale as i'm typing this.
last movie watched: drei haselnüsse für aschenbrödel (which is the same answer i gave in a tag game a few weeks ago lol)
last tv show watched: it's been months since i've watched any show, but i think it's the witcher.
last book/fic finished: the last book i finished is to kill a kingdom by alexandra christo (only took me one and a half years). i'm not sure about the last fic, probably something from the kinkmeme idk.
last book/fic abandoned: the last book i abandoned (for now) is bleak house by charles dickens. i technically had to read it for a seminar, but it's just too fucking long. as for fics, i don't really "abandon" any, i just keep them in my library (marked for later section) until i get to them, whenever that may be.
currently reading: as per the previously mentioned older tag game, i'm still reading the picture of dorian gray by oscar wilde. since my last answer, i have made zero progress.
last thing researched for writing/art/hyperfixation: does frantically looking for the right pictures of alex albon in red bull gear as well as articles about him leaving/them sacking him at 3am count?
favourite online fandom memory: honestly just discovering that there was fanfiction beyond x reader stuff was eye-opening. the first few m/m k-pop fics i read had such a huge impact on me, i can still recite the plot down to the smallest details.
favourite old fandom you wish would drag you back in/have a resurgence: it's not old per se, but the pedro pascal girlies (gn) seem to be having a great time atm. i had my pedro moment in 2019/2020 when i watched triple frontier for the first six times, but maybe i should revisit that.
favourite thing you enjoy that never had an active or big fandom, but you wish it did: i've been thinking about this for ten minutes, i can't think of anything. if something comes to my mind later, i'll just add it then. EDIT: my best friend and i have an unhealthy obsession with the film napola (more specifically, max riemelt in it. the film itself is quite dark), but barely anyone even knows it. devastating.
tempting project you're trying to rein in/don't have time for: i'm currently trying to learn how to make web weaves because i have a bunch of ideas, but uni comes first unfortunately.
zero pressure tags in case you want to do this: @wanderingblindly @piastrisms @hrhgeorgerussell @bright-and-burning @liamlawsonlesbian

Drink With Me Platonic Exchange!
Hi! @schroedingers-draht this is your gift for the @drinkwithme-exchange Out of the options given, I chose to write about Grantaire and Jehan. I hope you like it! The ending's a bit abrupt because I'm not good at endings, and please imagine the poetry is better than it is (imagine Jehan is a better poet than me). I will be posting this on Ao3 as well, but I wasn't sure if you had an ao3 account I could gift it to, so I'll wait for an answer on that :) -----------
Jehan had lost track of the days again. How did they know this? Well, there were a few clues. For one thing, instead of being able to curl up with a book alone in their window alcove (one of the reasons they'd chosen this room in the shared house with Eponine and Courfeyrac), they'd had to search through their cushions to find where their phone had dropped, in order to make it stop playing music that defintely did not fit the vibes of the book. Once they'd found the phone, they'd learnt that Grantaire had changed his ringtone when he'd last hung out with them, and that in fact Grantaire was phoning at the moment.
Answering the phone only took a moment, even though Jehan was really more in the mood for reading at the moment. Still, it was always good to talk to a friend.
"R?" They asked.
Grantaire's voice was loud in their ear. "Jehan, hi! I'm here, forgot the spare key though
"Forgot the key?" Jehan echoed, confused.
"Yeah, left it at home I think. Or lost it. Not sure. Anyway, I'm outside. Let me in?"
"Of course, I'll be right down." Jehan answered, still not sure why Grantaire was here. It was always good to see a friend though. Still, they tried to think. Were they meant to be hanging out before a Les Amis meeting? Or maybe - it wasn't their turn to host the meeting, was it? No, Grantaire wouldn't have been the first one here - and their housemates would have shown some sign of clearing chairs and moving them all into one room to make sure everyone had a seat. This definitely didn't seem like a spontaneous visit, based on Grantaire's words, but then again, it could be. They glanced down at their phone, and the answer glowed up at them.
REMINDER - ART BUDDIES TIME!!
...A bit too late, phone.
Jehan grinned, though they realised they hadn't prepared anything. They pulled open the front door and Grantaire returned the expression, holding up a bag of snacks and probable alcohol for their creative session.
"Your snacks and companion against creative block have arrived!"
"Ooh, what did you bring me?" Jehan reached for the bag. Grantaire pulled a fake pouty expression. "I'd almost think you were more interested in the snacks than the company of your dear friend!" He said. "But that can't possibly be true."
"You know it isn't, R." Jehan said, even as they looked inside the bag. Oreos, crisps, cans of coke - and a bottle of malibu. Yum. Their favourite writing treat. "I do have to admit," Grantaire started. "I did almost forget. So I don't have a lot of art pieces to chose from. Especially because art block has been...a lot recently." He sighed.
"Oh, so we both forgot!" Jehan exclaimed. "That makes me feel better. I lost track of the days again." They admitted, slightly sheepishly. Grantaire laughed. "Of course you did. That's almost as much tradition as this whole thing is anyway, us forgetting."
That was true enough. Neither of them were the best at keeping track of plans or days. They both tried, though. This tradition was worth remembering. It had started back in their first year of uni, when both of them had been struggling with different assignments. As much as Jehan loved writing, and Grantaire loved making art...making it to other people's specifications and criticism could be really draining. Especially if you made something you were proud of and it got a bad mark because it didn't quite fit what the assessor was looking for. Jehan still held a grudge against some of their lecturers for that. And some of Grantaire's art teachers. Weren't they meant to be encouraging?
It had been half way through the first term when the pair of them had come up with the idea to work together, when commiserating together over their lack of inspiration for the projects they'd been given. They'd help each other create on their own terms, as well as for their assignments. Grantaire would bring his work in progress for whatever the art piece was meant to be, or the guide for it, and Jehan would write something inspired by it, without having to constrain themself to any particular style or dial down the parts of their own writing that the professor disliked. And then they'd switch places - Jehan would show Grantaire their own work in progress or prompt, and Grantaire would create some form of art based on it. It did vary for both of them, depending on energy and inspiration. But it was fun, and a way of relaxing and creating something without any risk of being mocked or criticised. It was judgement free.
It had continued until they'd both graduated from university, even though they hadn't graduated together. They'd almost stopped, then. They had, for a while. After all, neither of them had any more assignments, so surely it wasn't necessary.
Except it wasn't really about necessary, by then. It was about fun. Jehan had turned up one day with a poem, and Grantaire had grinned and taken it as the invitation it was meant to be. There was no set schedule for Art Buddies Time, as Jehan called it. It was whenever they wanted - though they tried to make sure it happened at least once a month. Even though they both had to work jobs unrelated to their degrees (jobs in creative fields were hard to come by...well, jobs in any field were hard to come by), it was good to make sure they both still had that outlet. Jehan grabbed some glasses as they headed up to their room. They needed something to make the malibu and coke in, after all. Grantaire flopped into one of the armchairs almost immediately - not the one in the book nook.
He opened his bag, pulling out two things and putting them on the table in front of - a small sculpture made of pipe cleaners and a small half finished painting on canvas - before digging for art supplies. Jehan grabbed one of their notebooks and flipped through it, looking for something to share. They'd started lots of pieces recently, but had trouble finishing them. They frowned.
"I'm not sure what to use for my part," they admitted. "Lots of unfinished bits, or opening lines."
Grantaire jokingly wagged a finger at Jehan. "Hey, first rule of art buddies - nothing has to be finished. It can be one word or one pencil line or one splodge of paint. Or just materials. Remember?"
"Alright, yes, that's true." Jehan exhaled. "I'm feeling a little less confident about these bits, though."
Grantaire shrugged. "Me too, to be honest. I mean..." he gestured at the sculpture. Jehan took a closer look and then gasped.
"I love that." They said fervently, reaching out a hand. The pipe cleaners made up a cat - nothing could be more perfect than a cat.
Grantaire laughed, a bit self consciously. "Really? The pipe cleaner cat? I...honestly, that was just because I was bored in a zoom meeting."
"Definitely a good use of a zoom meeting." Jehan said. "Cats are always good."
Grantaire looked contemplative. "True enough, I suppose. And the painting....well, not sure if you'll want to use it, but..." Jehan picked up the small canvas and studied the painting.
"This is beautiful, Grantaire. I know it's half finished, but..." They trailed off. The painting made their heart feel warm. It was of Les Amis - well, sort of. It was their most common meeting place, in the back room of the Musain. There were half painted figures, and their designs seemed to be a mixture of old fashioned and modern. Even the Musain was painted as if part of it was older, and part of it the modern pub they met in so often.
Grantaire looked sheepish. "So you've got your choices. What am I working from?" Jehan handed over their notebook, and Grantaire flipped through the most recent pages.
"Ooh, I like this one. Not sure what to make for it though." He continued looking.
"Ah. Jehan, I'm sorry." Jehan wondered which poem had brought that up. They looked up questionly.
"The one about having to hide your pride."
That made sense. Grantaire had always encouraged and supported Jehan in who they are. But sometimes you had to get a job. And sometimes you didn't want to risk losing it for being trans.
"I got too used to being able to be out at uni. Les Amis spoiled me." Jehan said wistfully. "The rest of the world isn't so kind."
"They should be. They're missing out."
Jehan smiled. "And you're missing out on choosing a poem. Let me see my other piece of inspiration, at least?"
Grantaire groaned. "Alright, but no mocking me."
"Grantaire, I would never!" Jehan grinned. "Mock you? Perish the thought!"
Grantaire rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, innocent as the fresh fallen snow, you are. So based on that, you're going to be Thalia today?"
"I could be Calliope yet. Though epic poetry is probably too far, so Erato is more likely."
"If only there was a muse specifically for free form poetry. And, of course, art attempts by lacklustre amateurs."
"You're not an amateur. You do your art professionally."
"...on a technicallity, you're right, but that's just a technicality. Courfeyrac insisting on paying me for painting a mural on his wall doesn't count."
"And your online shop?" Jehan pointed out. "I know you don't sell stuff on there constantly, but you have made sales. Therefore, professional."
Grantaire rubbed the back of his head self consciously. "Alright, alright. You know you should be professional. You could be this era's Homer."
"You flatter me."
"If you can't take it, don't hand it out. What playlist are we using today? Musicals, upbeat, sad musicals, dancey, sing along, longing...You know the choices. What's the mood?"
Jehan considered. It was an important question, after all.
"The Ethereal Feels playlist." They answered.
Grantaire raised an eyebrow but nodded. "Sure, seems fair enough.
Once the music started, it didn't take long for them to both start their work. Grantaire had brought art supplies with him, and was as usual able to use anything Jehan had for it (within reason). Jehan might write poetry most, but they enjoyed other art forms - especially fabric arts.
Jehan wasn't sure how much time had passed by the time they both stopped. They'd finished first - not completely pleased with what they'd done, but unsure how to improve it at the moment. Sometimes they needed to take a step away before looking back again to edit.
"So?
Grantaire grinned. "Looking forward to reading your poem, whichever piece it was based on. Meanwhile my piece isn't complete, so to speak, but...here's the base."
It was a sketch, half coloured, on a piece of paper torn from Grantaire's sketchpad. A figure, with no facial details or anything, but hair and clothes. nothing else to distinguish them. The clothes were similar to those Jehan would wear sometimes, mismatching in the best way. Some would call them hideous with disgust, but Jehan would exclaim it with glee and wear the item regularly. There were gaps in the clothing where Jehan usually wore badges, or where the iron on patches that Jehan had put on would have been. But the skin of the figure was leaking rainbows, pride flags emanating from beneath the skin. There were rainbows down the arms, an asexual and aromantic flag coming out of the chest, nonbinary flags on the hands and face. There were other flags too, not just ones that applied to Jehan. Jehan blinked back the moisture in their eyes and grabbed Grantaire for a hug.
"This is...fuck, Grantaire. Thank you."
Grantaire didn't meet Jehan's eyes. "It's not...it's just a drawing, it's nothing special."
"Grantaire. Rules of Art Buddies. No insulting your work, remember? Or...or, degrading it. This...can I get a copy?"
Grantaire's eyes softened. "Of course, Jehan. It's for you. It's not perfect but...just because you have to hide it sometimes doesn't make you any less you. You know?"
Jehan smiled. "The same goes for you. God, R, my writing is going to look so unimpressive next to that."
"I doubt that. Your writing is always impressive."
"Well, that's a bold lie." Jehan said, and Grantaire laughed. "Okay, most of the time it's impressive. That one time when you had too much tequila was clearly an exception."
"That is definitely not the only time, but because of the rules of Art Buddies I will pretend. Alright - I know it's not what you were thinking of, and it doesn't really match your views, but this is what the painting felt like to me."
They held out the notebook, the words written in pink ink on the page.
Grantaire seemed almost to hesitate for a moment before taking it.
And then, despite knowing it would make Jehan feel embarrased, he read it out loud.
To be fair, Jehan had expected it. Making the other uncomfortable because of complimenting and so on was Art Buddies tradition.
I knew you once, I knew you thrice
Across a thousand moonlit pints
We planned and dreamed,
we mapped and schemed
For all that they have now achieved
And still they try for greater aims
Despite the lack of fortune, fame
Perhaps we live in them again
Though dreamers in the past were slain The hope still lives, in meetings kept
by those the world may not accept
Grantaire's voice was a good one for poetry - even poetry Jehan wasn't sure of. It sounded better, read out like that. R had always been good at cadence.
"Jehan...that's good. Honestly. And just because I don't always...believe, you know, in a better future, doesn't mean I don't want it."
"I know, R. You want it just as much as the rest of us. You're just a pessimist." Jehan teased.
"Or a realist, in my view."
Jehan stuck out their tongue. "People are inherently kind and good, whether you like it or not."
"When they're born, maybe. Society trains it out of them."
"Not always!" Jehan sing songed. "You prove yourself wrong, my good friend."
That was an argument Jehan had used before, and Grantaire just groaned, but there was a small smile on his face anyway.
"So, now we've done Art Buddies...more art, or chilling?"
Jehan considered. "Same space different focus?" They suggested. They did want to get back to their book, but there was no reason they couldn't spend time with Grantaire at the same time.
"Sure, if you don't mind me humming as I play Pokemon."
"Good background music." Jehan grinned. "Pokemon background music as performed by Grantaire is great for reading."
------
Sorry it's not super long, but I hope you like it even though there's not much of a plot either. For reference: Thalia, Calliope, and Erato are muses. Thalia is the muse of comedy, Calliope is the muse of epic poetry, and Erato is the muse of lyric poetry and love poetry.
I hope you like it!

May i respectfully ask how you can enjoy a ship if u didn't see the show for canon's sake?? 😄👀
Hey Anon! :)
Talking about Sterek are we, right?? :D
Upon reading your ask, I reflected on how I got into the Sterek fandom in the first place, and wow what a nice journey down the memory lane!!
Short answer to how I can enjoy a ship if I didn't see the show?
COLDFLASH.
Confused, are you? =D
The longer version of my babbling is under the cut, and so very sorry about that, coudn't help myself! :D
In case you don't know about the Coldflash ship, Anon, just a quick word. Tis the hero/villain ship from the Flash tv-show, aka Barry Allen/Leonard Snart.
THEM:
I started following this ig account ss.sterek [@holycafe if I'm not mistaken], liking all the coldflash posts, then getting curious about their other posts as well.
This is how Sterek came to be.
At first, it was a polite indifference, but the more I saw the sterek posts the more it got interesting to me, until one day I started searching for any Sterek content.
Until I started searching for any content on Tumblr, specifically.
Until I liked so many incorrect quotes and crack posts about this so-called Sourwolf and Spaz.
At some point their dynamic became SO addicting, I decided to start reading fics.
Did I understand any of the mentionned canon? Heck no.
(The Teen Wolf Wiki Page was a huge help in that regard, explaining to me what a kanima or a nogitsune was for example.)
Still, I remember the first fics I read were about Stiles being Pack Mom to the Wonder betas!! =D
Also fics closely (ish) related to canon...So yeah they always referred to stuff happening in the show that I usually didn't get...
With patience, some research, and LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF FICS, I began grasping things and characters surrounding the Sterek pair.
So I may not know about the Derek and the Stiles from the show, but I know of the fandom version of them.
Beleive me, it puzzled me how big it got to me. (BUT I'M LOVING IT!)
Like I probably have 2,000 bookmarked Sterek fics on AO3 plus the ones I've yet to read on my marked-for-later and the other ones I read without bookmarking them (rookie mistake xD).
I think the writers and the Sterek content creators have taken the grumpy-sunshiny & dry-sarcastic dynamics and wrote....how to say it? almost different characters than from the show? To the point I didn't need the show to understand them.
Nor did I wish to.
Actually, I tried watching after S06 got out, but didn't last more than 15 min maybe? My brain was too wired up on the Sterek vibe to fully appreciate the show. (Maybe my teenage ass would have liked it... But as I was watching soooo maaaaany tv-shows already, it was impossible to start watching Teen Wolf, and when I first heard of Sterek I was at Uni and really didn't have the time - But OH LORD THE NUMBER OF FICS I READ... My life saver to countless sleepless nights unable to close my eyes xD)
I've only watch THE famous Sterek Supercut!!!! :D <3
I don't know if you are aware of my Tumblr really, but if you are, you may notice I'm VERY MUCH INTO PLANES AND PILOTS these days... (okay it's been a year)....
YEAH YEAH YEAH TALKING ABOUT TOP GUN AND TOP GUN MAVERICK AND BLONDE AND BRUNET PILOTS SO WHAT OF IT?!
*I'm super chill, whatddyamean???? :D*)
Make NO mistake though, Sterek is still a favourite pair of mine, and I AM OH SO GLAD to see old and new content popping up in my dash. Still reblogging and reading!!!!!!!!!
ETERNAL STEREK!
Thank you to the original account that got me into Sterek. Thank you to THE STEREK FANDOM FOR CREATING THE MOST AMAZING CONTENT AND FICS.
Dear you go, Anon, rambles over. :D
(((I started writing the reply in the morning, and it is now the evening. I got distracted by real life stuff in the middle, and I AM EXHAUSTED. I hope you can make sense of all the babbling (or word-vomit, more like it.) I won't be reading again cause otherwise I'll keep adding stuff :D))
Have a good day Anon! ;)
#answered anon ask#coldflash got me into sterek :D <3#and I'm ever so grateful for it! <3#eternal sterek#sterek is eternal#I love sterek#I also mentionned coldflash and top gun.... AND I LOVE YOU TOO.#good lord this bean needs sleep xD#🐈red🐈furry🐈cat🐈tag🐈

What about Top 5 games/books/series/movies/etc you would call "underappreciated" for what they do?
Hm, my view of things might be skewed because I do feel like these things are popular only because I am in the circles that talk about them and I think they are generally not that popular, or at least not as popular as stuff like League, Arcane, WoW, TES etc. This also excludes niche things like old books, plays and films that I picked up from uni as I don't feel like having people quiz me why I like the works of some "problematic" guy from 50-100 years ago.
Subnautica - this is literally one of the best game series I've ever played. It has a very simple, but amazing story, a lot of heart and soul, the aesthetic and the feeling of the game are unmatched and the gameplay is very fun. If you are scared of the depths, its a terror game, but the fact that the story is so heartfelt makes up for you being terrified of the world. In fact, the fact that it can be very scary sometimes just adds to the story. It's a perfect sync of gameplay and storytelling. It's a cheap game too with no micro-transactions and such, so it's a little jewel in a sea of crap they've been releasing lately.
Dishonored - Yes, I think Dishonored is not as popular as it should be. Dishonored is amazing, from aesthetics to writing (especially in the first game), to world building and gameplay. The first game is a masterpiece despite the fact that the story it tells is very simple and straightforward, so much so that sometimes it's even funny. The 2nd game threw the ball when it comes to story, but the characters, the aesthetic and world it built is still unmatched. It's absolutely beautiful and it awakens something in me whenever I think about it. For me Dishonored (and Subnautica above) are like a vacation by the seaside that cures depression.
Pirates of the Caribbean - These films might feel like they are popular because you see them plastered on children's notebooks and backpacks, but they are soooo underground because they were popular some 15 years ago and now most people forgot they existed aside from Jack Sparrow and his pop culture influence. However the first film is a masterpiece and the two other that follow are excellent and bring so many new things to this type of storytelling. They made the Pirate genre so good and it's sad that the genre itself died out with them. The 2 last films are not so good, but I think the culture already shifted away from pirates and that probably just added to the lack of quality and passion put into them (Disney just thought they can ride off the success of the first three, not realizing what actually made them so successful). However, much like the three things above, the feelings the first three films bring is so beautiful that I do recommend for people to give them a watch (or a re-watch) and experience some of that joy for themselves. The following two are very much a subtype or parts of bigger fandoms and not things on their own~
The Warcraft novels - this is a more of a "subtype" of something being popular, but I don't think the Warcraft novels get enough attention within the Warcraft community. While a lot of games tend to release books to up sales and often put key story elements in them, however the books are not as good and they do feel like they were made just because every game needed to have a book from 2016 and onward. The Warcraft books on the other hand feel like they are an essential part of the story and not just a cashgrab. While they are not all good, sometimes the writing is lacking, they are absolutely fun to read and people who like the Warcraft lore should not overlook them. For me they give me the vibe of the cheap little fantasy booklets I used to read on vacation when I was a child. And some deal with pretty heavy topics and themes you would not expect in a "video game book".
The Zed comic - obviously and the most expected response, while League doesn't have a lot of lore (even if people pretend it does, it doesn't, play TES or WoW to see what capital L-ore is), people know Arcane is like the peak of League's story. I however think that the Zed comic is good enough to make it at least in the runner ups to Arcane's 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize. It's a good comic, yes the style is in that ugly Marvel fashion which is 90% of the visual charm for me, and despite the League community moaning that it's not a good story, it's in fact a good story. The plot works, the characters work, the story build upon century old premises of brothers fighting for the love of their father and it offers these characters so much more than what we see in the rest of the content for them. This comic made these characters actual characters, and the community either ignores or straight up dislikes it out of reasons only understandable to them.
BONUS: Greymoor was a great ESO DLC and received a lot of flack from the ESO community. The criticism that it killed gay characters is the only valid criticism. Pretty much everything else boiled down to "It has a weak plot :///" that was never elaborated by anyone in any capacity. It was a great Chapter, it had beautiful aesthetic and a unique feeling even if bringing back a zone from Skyrim and it had one of the best TES villains in general. For me it was the last true ESO expansion that just really captivated me even though I like the ones that came after.

📝(story from your childhood), 📺 (top 5 tv shows; ooops, I saw that you didn’t like make list too late, just name the one you like the most!), 🚀 (where do you wanna visit), 📚 (career goal) and 📅 (favourite time of the year)! (I hope this amount of emojis isn’t overwhelming, xoxo)
LMAO HI THAT'S A FUNNY AMOUNT, I LOVE IT THANK YOUU xx
📝 - story from your childhood
i have no idea how funny this would be in english compared to my native language, but YEAH I WILL TELL IT ANYWAY BECAUSE IT'S MY FAVOURITE.
in fourth grade we had to do an essay on our grandmas, i have only had one so i chose her immediately. my grandma is a sicilian woman who moved to northern italy in her 30s to work in a factory. one of her favourite things to do was giving nicknames to people, she loved it immensely and mine was a diminutive of my name.
at least when i was little i thought it was just a diminutive of my name.
so very innocently i wrote on my fourth grade essay, with a very pretty handwriting too, that my grandma always called me "minchiolina".
"minchiolina" is indeed a diminutive though not of the name "michela", but of the word "minchia" which is sicilian for "dick", so i very charmingly wrote that my grandma always called me "little dick".
i still don't know how my teacher reacted to that, but i do remember how hard my grandma laughed when i made her read the essay and that's a memory i keep very close to my heart
📺 - top 5 tv shows
AHAHAHAAHHA DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!! my favourite is the last kingdom (predictable of me) but let me tell you that i still don't know if i seriously find it absolutely amazing/perfect because it is or because i spent most of my life watching shows from the cw and therefore my bar is low MFHSJHSHSHA
🚀 - where do you wanna visit
SCOTLAND. i don't know why but it is just so pretty, i thought it was just for edinburgh but it is seriously the whole of scotland, i wanna visit it all i can't
📚 - career goal
i actually have two BUT THEY ARE CONNECTED IN WEIRD WAYS!!
the first and main one is becoming a screenwriter, i have been wanting to do that since i was a child and it's a passion that i just can't get rid off and that i don't want to give up on. i recently started to try to write plays too, but i'm finding the approach to that a bit difficult so i still need to get used to it as well, but it's absolutely interesting and i love it. the genre i prefer to write in though is period drama so to be accurate i decided to study history. YEAH. THAT'S THE MAIN REASON WHY I STUDY HISTORY. do not get me wrong i do love history, but it also works well for my main career goal.
so the second career goal i have is to become a historian and at first i thought that it wouldn't have been the best option ever and it would have been difficult, but seeing that all my professors in uni were able to achieve that has given me so much hope that perhaps i could too so i keep both paths open!!
📅 - favourite time of the year
AUTUMN. i love the colours of it and there's always so much rain, i just love it. it is the season of the soul as they say and it warms my heart so much, BUT ALSO i really like winter but mostly for the christmas vibes which always put me in a good mood and i need that a lot!!

You should tell me about your Hazbin oc. Smiles.
@coronaryqueer | Please understand this is A Can Of Worms, and all can be poked and prodded @singthesongsofsin
Hellaina: She’s my scary snake lady! She’s Vox’s PA (though in truth more akin to a COO). Technically he owns her soul, but she thinks she got the much better deal out of it. She died in the early 1980s of a heart attack induced, in large part, but the whole… 1980s work culture. She is, all things considered, quite happy down in Hell! (She also despises Valentino).
Dia: Hellaina’s wife, and regular in cannibal town. She runs a butcher shop, because her actual skills in pathology aren’t… super useful here. In life she sold organs on the black market, and is a special sort beloved freak. Definitely some vibes of pastel whimsi-goth in that girl.
Jayden: Velvette’s PA. He was created to fulfill a joke originally. Vox has a snake PA, and one of my writing partners hc that Val also had a snake PA, co clearly Vel needed one too. He’s very young, like, died in the last five years and was an influencer in life (and still is in hell) sort of young.
Adelard: OLD. He was in the seminary until he had a bit of a crisis of faith, left to become a healer during the early 1300s, and then a plague doctor when that all broke out. He killed a lot of his patients because it was kinder for that than to die slowly of the plague. In Hell he’s the closest thing to a librarian, and definitely a bit of an eccentric! He collects a lot of the newly fallen.
Belphegor: lord of Sloth, narcoleptic, and an idealist. Probably going to quit at some point to create purgatory, or just… somewhere for the vast majority of the dead to go who weren’t great people but don’t deserve Hell either.
Astaroth: Bel’s best friend, another fallen Angel. Tara spends most of her time on Earth, acting as the classic deal demon. She has a fwb deal with Mephistopheles (yes the one from Faust), and also as Bel’s inter-ring liaison a lot of the time.
Metatron: the Voice of God! (And heretical on my part). He was the first thing ever created, before the universe itself was, and he, God, and Asherah were the primordial polycule… at least until she went to sleep. God did too, some 1400 years ago, so Metatron has been keeping Heaven and Earth from realizing God is MIA by acting in his stead.
As for the wtnv OCs!!!
The new one is Nezha. They’re a glassblower from DB, they’re tiers of punk, they created and then destroyed the stained glass of the Smiling God in DB’s Joyous Congregation. (I have more hc about that, but shhh, the fic will be released in a few days). Their Double was Theseus’s best friend until her death— weird magical inter-city coven they were all a part of.
Speaking of Theseus! He’s the NV weatherman. He’s quite chill, all things considered. He was part of the magical intercity coven (where he met Ted the Weatherman (mentioned! And therefore canon!) from DB. He’s known about the weird effect of the towns for aaaages, but as no one ever asks the weatherman anything, he’s never volunteered any information. After the coven fell apart, he went to uni for meteorology. In an as yet unfinished fic, he becomes Maddy’s (Kevin’s sister) best friend.
Mikhail and Matvei: a set of doubles who hate one anotber. They both went to school outside the Desert. But whereas Mikhail is a relatively good person, he studies time, Matvei is EVIL. Matvei was a StrexCorp enforcer, Matvei is now working on the Sandstorm project. Matvei carved out one of his own eyes in a show of devotion to the Smiling God, and is a hardcore loyalist even without drugs.
Speaking of! Helios is the Smiling God! …sort of. Helios created DB and then just sort of… forgot about it. He came back to find Strex and is now masquerading a priest to figure out how to fix it. He’s also the Greek pantheon Helios, same dude. In the same unfinished fic, he’s Jocelin’s (Kevin’s nibling) biological father.
Maddy and Jocelin! Kevin’s sister and no king respectively. They would be Abby and Janice’s doubles. Maddy wanted to be a botanist, as after their mother took off, ended up raising Kevin. They’re still quite close in large part because of Jo, and because there is no double of Steve. Jocelin, as a child, has a sun allergy Strex ‘fixed’. They’re like… 13 right now, but getting into acting! After Strex was defeated, they were some of the first to move to NV.
How many more do I have??? I think I’ll leave it here for now! (I need to be better at actually messaging you, I promise I’ll try!)

13 books tag game
Was tagged by @polarcell! Heeeee~ I'm so glad I've gotten back into reading and can do this happily without struggle!
1) The last book I read:
Infidels by Andrew Wheatcroft. It's mediocre. The research is only strong when it concerns Spain, and everything else is skimmed over heavily. There is a distinct lack of Arab/Muslim sources the further along you go with blatant biases towards the Western pov and the end is absolutely fucking incoherent. Not a complete loss but mostly useless and woefully caught up in the madness that was America post-invasion of Iraq.
2) A book I recommend:
A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan. I recommend it to literally everyone whenever I can, the whole series is so good.
3) A book that I couldn’t put down:
Much to my chagrin, Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. It reads like a fanfic so it flows dangerously fast and I read it all in one sitting. However I don't think it's particularly... good? It's fine, but it's verging on the "empty entertainment" I dislike from fiction books I read.
4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):
Apart from the worst possible answer (I read Prisoner of Azkaban so many times between the ages of nine and fifteen it's basically imprinted on the inside of my skull), I'm going to say The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It's the first Narnia book I read, and it's still my favourite. I love Reepicheep so much it's stupid.
5) A book on my TBR:
There are so goddamn many Jesus wept. Perhaps Madhouse at the End of the Earth by Julian Sancton. Continue some good old-fashioned Hubris in the Artic/Antartic genre of historical event.
6) A book I’ve put down:
Price and Prejudice. Trying to get a middle schooler to read this was a stupid endeavour and I hated it and did not finish it. Nor do I ever actually want to. It takes a lot for me to actually put down a book and not finish it.
7) A book on my wish list:
The Best Land under Heaven by Michael Wallis. I've yet to read something comprehensive about the Donner Party and this one looks good.
8) A favorite book from childhood:
The Dragon's Quest by Rosemary Manning. I loved how eloquent and charming the dragon was.
9) A book you would give to a friend:
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. It changed me and I need to pass on the smell of the sea and the feel of salt-stained marble.
10) A book of poetry or lyrics that you own
Literally the only poetry book I own is The Penguin Book of Greek Verse and I've barely touched it. I don't really do poetry.
11) A nonfiction book you own:
How am I supposed to choose? I have so many that I bought for uni and for my own enjoyment. I guess I'll choose The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine by Ilan Pappé. I have yet to read it because it requires a lot of spoons to read books like this right now, and I used a lot of them up on The Hundred Years' War on Palestine by Rashid Khalidi.
12) What are you currently reading:
Hurdy Gurdy by Christopher Wilson and Same-Sex Marriage in Renaissance Rome by Gary Ferguson. I'm enjoying Hurdy Gurdy so far, I forget how quickly fiction goes compared to non-fiction. Same-Sex Marriage is proceeding apace, but I really should have taken more notes as I read, if I'm going to be writing fic based on it.
13) What are you planning on reading next?
Fuck if I know, I'll just pull something out of the towering pile and get to it. It has to have the right Vibes for the moment, though, and those Vibes are mysterious at best.
Tagging @nightbirdz, @gravity-loves-me, @dangerouscommiesubversive, @maered613, @veradragonjedi, @ctrldao3, @teta-veleta and whoever else wants to do this!

15 people, 15 questions
Thank you for tagging me @xceanlynx ^^
1. are you named after anyone?
Nope (at least not to my knowledge).
2. when was the last time you cried?
Hmmm got teary-eyed today (it's 1am so yesterday, I guess)? Twice. Full on crying I'm not sure (I have terrible memory.)
3. do you have kids?
Nope. And probably never will.
4. what sports do you play/have you played?
uhhh nothing outside of mandatory stuff. The one I played the most during school/uni PE would be volleyball.
5. do you use sarcasm?
Yep. (But sometimes people don't get it. And vice versa xD)
6. what’s the first thing you notice about people?
My terrible memory is like: I don't remember. Their hair? Sth that catches my eye (like a pattern, clothing, the way they behave - for example how they arrive as in are they confident/gentle/loud/dismissive etc.)? Or voice yeah. (I'm seriously not sure but I would place my bet on hair or the behaviour/"vibe".)
7. what’s your eye color?
Hazel. Like hmm ugly, boring, darkish gray with brownish middle (just checked in the mirror; google shows me it's hazel with gold flecks? And I think this is a first time I learned that hazel eyes are quite uncommon? I was under the impression that they are just boring, plain and 'just there' while others have nice one full colour... Kinda perplexing news. Still meh tho.).
8. scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings.
9. any talents?
Not really.
10. where were you born?
Poland.
11. what are your hobbies
uhh I'm the "want to do so much but somehow mostly do nothing/somehow stop (like with drawing, baking - done only for parties sometimes now -, sewing...)" So typical stuff like reading (tho I suck at reading books for many years now. Wish I read more.), listening to music. I have a writing phase now, I guess? (wrote a lot as a kid)
12. do you have any pets?
Not anymore (used to have hamsters as a kid; a dog - Chaps, named after the Lady and the Tramp son).
13. how tall are you?
176 cm = 5'9 (I think the last time I was told my height was in middle school, over ten years ago.)
14. favorite subject in school?
The constant one I think was: English (foreign language)
15. dream job
This is the worst for me because I want to be sooo many things. A baker, an actress, a singer, a lawyer, a florist, a fancy glass maker, a tea shop/bookshop/craft corner owner... just show me a TV show/movie/post/etc. with some job and my brain will be like: uuuu shiny. But overall I would like to just have a stable income and no job (as in somehow I have always enough money to live and can just do whatever I want at any given moment without fear of failure/getting bored/life in general.)
Tagging: @wastelandbaby7 @yashihimi @bythebyandbithebi @ripmacbeth @yupkook
