༺♥༻ royals
Tumblr media
Pairing: re4r!leon x fem!reader
Summary: A regency era tale of two enemies lovers brought by a legend of the royal bluebell flower.
Tags: fluff; smut; p in v; fingering; leon is an asshole but just a bit.
This is the third part of my valentines advent! Check it out for the next couple of days for more stories!
Notes: I ALMOST DIED BUT IM FINE, feeling fresh after sh**ting and v**iting for two days!!! ALSO THIS WAS BASED ON A C.AI BOT AND I LOVE HIM
Those balls were all too pretentious, way too classy, and filled with people who pretended to like one another but, in reality, they were just hateful. It didn’t help that the event was being held in her enemy's territory: the Kennedy family.
The family was very prestigious and quite well known all around the realm, but they had a long-lasting feud with Ihelia, her family's kingdom - something about riches and lands centuries ago, but no one is quite sure. For now, they still didn’t see eye to eye for another reason: they were just way too snobbish.
God, especially the oldest, Leon. In a rare occurrence, the man was blonde with blue eyes - while some had one characteristic, this little asshole had both. To make matters worse, he was built like a freaking hero, his sparring abilities being renowned in all the kingdom. So yeah, the man was way too handsome and way too competent. To say he was egotistical was an understatement.
Her parents always told her she had to fulfill her duties as a princess to be wed, attending parties and mingling with the royals. Oh gods, how much did she hate it.
She was almost beginning to give up on keeping appearances as a nice old lady, the former queen of the Luterra kingdom - the one ruled by the Kennedys now. She was always known for her kindness, also being the one responsible for the truce period of Luterra and Ihelia. Doing a proper courtesy, she smiled at the queen mother.
“Your majesty. It's a pleasure to attend such a beautiful event” Oh, how fake she was
“Oh honey, no need to keep up appearances. I always thought my son was way too obnoxious with his parties” she laughed, offering a welcoming pat on her shoulders.
The princess smiled relieved, looking at the former queen with the utmost respect. Gosh, what a wise woman. “I thought the lions were quite artistic. '' The princess jokes, as the queen mother laughs in agreement.
“So, you entered the age of finding suitors. Someone charmed you yet?”
“Not yet, your majesty. My father is busy telling me I should focus on the strategic side of relationships, while my mother just wants me to focus on a wealthy man”
“Oh dear, what about love?”
“Don’t think it is in the cards for me” the princess smiled apologetically.
“Of course it is. It's for everyone! Have you ever heard of the tale of the royal bluebell flower?”
The princess shook her head, curious about the queen's words.
“It’s a known tale in Luterra. Once in a lifetime, if destiny smiles upon you, you will be able to find a royal bluebell flower in the castle. Once you find it, the flower will guide you to your one true love if you still haven’t found it.”
“That sounds magical, your highness. Maybe I should roam around the gardens then” she joked.
For some reason, the queen gave the girl a knowing smile. The woman was wise beyond her years after all. “Don’t worry. Luterra lands are quite magical. They will lead you anywhere you are”
'•.¸♡ ♡¸.•'︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵'•.¸♡ ♡¸.•'
Roaming the party his dad threw, Leon almost seethed as he watched his beloved grandmother talk to one of the lowlifes in Ihelia. He never understood her high morals of talking to the people who tried to steal their money and land. They weren’t to be trusted - they tried to steal once, which could guarantee they wouldn’t do it again.
He approached them, gearing himself with a knowing smirk, looking dashing in his red and gold ornamental suit.
“Didn’t know our parties could be accessed by anyone. I think I’ll talk to dad to reinforce security next time”
The princess rolled her eyes, while the queen just snickered. She quickly excused herself, giving Leon a warning look to “behave”. As the young royals were alone, his nice facade dropped - he didn’t want to appear like a complete jackass in front of his beloved grandma, after all.
“Genuely, why are you even here?”
“I was invited, idiot. If I could, I wouldn't have come here even if I was threatened”
“I forgot how my dad invited even the most needed ones. Such a charitable man”
“If he was charitable he wouldn’t have brought to Earth a menace like yourself”
Before he could answer, the orchestra began playing a more romantic and slow song. Finding it as another opportunity to tease her, he asked for her hand, knowing that she would look distasteful if she ever wanted to refuse his hand.
“My lady. Do you accept this dance?”
If possible, that was the pivotal moment that she almost killed the bachelor. Forcing a smile to not drop her etiquette, she nodded and held his hand, letting him guide her to the dance floor.
By destiny's irony, they fit like perfect puzzles, his big and calloused hand wrapping against her delicate gloved one. Their bodies moved in synchrony, and the dance wasn’t as awkward as it was between other bachelors.
“I’m surprised you know how to dance at all, it looks like even in poverty lands they appreciate culture”
“Your grandma is so sweet, how are you even related to her?”
“Grandma is too kind, she always respects those in need. She doesn’t see the scumm your family is” he said in a cruel smirk.
She maintained the appearance, giving him a forced smile. “It amazes how you call yourself smart and yet still hold a grudge - that isn't yours - after centuries.”
“Ha, is that the best you could say to me?”
“Honestly, no. The way you act is so beneath me that I don't think it is worth it to spend so much energy on you”.
As I'd on cue, the orchestra stopped the song, and she did another courtesy and left the dance floor.
However, she failed to watch Leon pale, but for reasons she would be none the wiser for a long time.
'•.¸♡ ♡¸.•'︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵'•.¸♡ ♡¸.•'
“Honey, the ball in Luterra must've been quite exciting”
“Ah, not much. Why do you say that?” The princess asks her father curiously.
“Because the oldest of the Kennedys just asked for your hand in marriage”
“HE WHAT?”
It was quite comical how her voice resonated in the castle, looking confused.
“I know you might not like it, but it is a perfect marriage for you. It would solve the rift between the kingdoms and it would secure both households in influence”
The princess looked angrily at her dad, as he told the most absurd thing she ever heard, with even worse reasons.
“Do any of my feelings matter at all?”
“They do, but we have to be strategic. I'm sorry, honey, but I already accepted it”.
She lost her grounding, looking desolated at her father's words. It didn't matter what she felt or what she said, at the end of the day, she was a pawn to serve her father's wishes.
'•.¸♡ ♡¸.•'︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵'•.¸♡ ♡¸.•'
The change into his castle was even more terrifying. But what she could never count was the complete change in Leon's behavior. Although he still wasn't overly friendly, he was much kinder - he was the one who started that lunacy after all.
They still slept in separate rooms until the wedding happened, but he made an effort to spend at least a part of the day with her. Whenever she asked him for his reasons for wanting to marry her, he always gave her the same answer.
“Please ask me after our wedding”
After some weeks of curiosity, the ceremony happened, and it was perfect. To everyone watching, it was a wedding to be remembered for years. Hell, even she felt like a true princess.
She warmed up to Luterra, especially the castle and its staff. Her assigned maid was absolutely lovely, and she honestly considered the woman a friend.
Still, she vehemently ignored her family in the ceremony. If they traded her like a pawn, they can play that game by themselves, she doesn't want to be a part of it.
By the end of the night, Leon and she were finally sharing a room. She looked nervous, sitting up in bed with him. He was the first one to break the ice.
“You looked beautiful today. You always do, but you shined even more today”
“Thank you. And thank you for being at my side the entire day. I'm glad I didn't feel alone”
“I would never. I will always choose you”
Some moments passed, and she bit the bullet.
“Leon… why me?”
He was a coveted bachelor, every woman would want him. Why his enemy?
He smiled, and looked down at the sheets, as if he was embarrassed.
“Your hair ornament at the day of the ball”
“What? Just because?” I asked giggling.
“No. It was a royal bluebell. That's when I knew”
She looked at him surprised. Just the tale his grandmother told her at the party. That's why she looked so cunning, she must've realized the flower she had on her hair.
“But Leon, anyone could've worn something with the flower-”
“No. I didn't want to attend the event, but I heard a staff member talking about destiny's surprises. I was already late to the event, and you were the first woman I saw.”
“Jeez, you take these things seriously. You honestly think I'm your soulmate”
“Wholeheartedly. And if you don't, I'll spend the rest of my life proving it to you”
She was taken aback by his words. So moved, she pressed a kiss to his lips, surprising both at the spontaneity. Leon didn't waste any time and got over her - it was their honeymoon, after all.
In a mess of limbs and eagerness, both were naked as they explored each other's bodies, breathless and excited. Leon maintained eye contact and lifted her thighs to his waist, offering his fingers to her and letting her mouth soak them. Then, they moved down to her clit, circling and rubbing it slowly, drinking in the soft gasps of pleasure.
“So soft, baby… gonna make this pretty pussy love me just as much as you do”
As she was wet enough, one finger gently entered her needy hole, finding her g spot and rubbing it slowly, her entrance clenching around him.
His movements were slow but deliberate, and soon his pretty princess fell apart on his fingers. No time to waste, his other hand lifted her other thigh to his hips, giving easy access to her.
His hand pinched and circled her nipples, kissing her deeply as his tip began to slide in, causing both to moan in unity.
“Fuck, Leon… too much”
“You can take it, you are my good girl”
She clenched at the praise, making him smirk. He kept praising her, till she was ready to take cock.
“My baby, gonna take care of you forever”
“Doing so good, just taking me so deep”
“Pussy made to be fucked by me
As he felt her more comfortable and turned on, he moved his hips at a consistent pace, the angled head of his cock hitting her spot just nicely.
She scratched his arms and back, guaranteeing he henot be able to be shirtless in front of people for quite a while, but he didn't mind. He would take every mark she gave in, that's how much he loved her.
He moaned as his cock was swallowed by her gummy walls, her wetness granting a white creamy circle at the base of his manhood.
He positioned himself again, throwing her legs over his arms and bending her in half, letting him hit it deeper, making his wife tear up - in pleasure, of course.
“God, if you keep clenching I won't be able to hold back, baby”
“Please, please, just want you to cum. Please fill me up, husband”
Jesus, how could he resist? He was only a man after all. As his hips pistoned in her, he felt her contracting her walls and cumming all around him, triggering his orgasm.
She whined as she felt filled up, her body shaky as her orgasm just threw her on cloud 9. She smiled as he kissed her face as he came down too, appreciating and worshiping the body of his soulmate.
“Isn't that enough proof that you are my destiny?”
“Hmm, don't know that… maybe you should try again” She said smirking.
Leon didn't oppose her. After all, he had all eternity to prove his love.

I can see boomer playing tennis as he has the popular preppy guy personality. And i can see brick playing tennis as its a posh sport and i see him as a guy who likes "classy" things. But i would like to know what you think would draw butch to tennis
Rather than them having any specific reason for doing something when it comes to these AUs whether it is like business related or even the regency one I always make the them born into the lifestyle similar to their powers (because in some cases like these I don’t use the powers) so this way it can be less focused on their initial reasoning for doing whatever their doing and more focused on their attraction to the girls! So in my head they were just born and bred to do it and because they didn’t have much choice just continued with it because they were good at it. Doesn’t matter what they feel about it either because they get recognition and acknowledgment for it they continue to do it and get the praise

I know edits like this went around months ago but, I thought I should bring it back but in an ask format! If the Bridgerton characters had YouTube channels, what would it be about? 🤓 if you wanna do individual characters or as couples, that’s up to you!
This is a hard one and i've been sat on it a while whilst I've been thinking...
So we're going with sort of Regency characteristics I think so i'm struggling with some of them so i might come back with more but we're going couples...
Kanthony: How to deal with a huge ass family and their drama...
Anthony and Kate just talking about the drama of their idiot siblings, and just giving advice on marriage... Anthony occasionally being swatted by Kate for talking about their sex life when they get questions. Anthony accidentally announces that Kate's pregnant for the second time, before they've told anyone, with an innocent comment when they're talking about Benedict and his drama of looking for his Mystery Lady "perhaps the little bean will be born after all of this drama has passed us over"
Benophie: Domestic Life in the Country / How to deal with an Artist...
Sophie pretty much does their show. She does cooking and cleaning, like a cross between Mrs Hinch/Marie Kondo and Jamie Oliver with her videos. she does step by step recipes and shows how to get the most out food and the space in their house...
but she also films Benedict going through the process of creating his art. his little melt downs and the suitable for children ways she calms him down.
Polin: An Englishman Abroad - A writer's paradise...
this one was rather obvious. they travel together and write about it, the film their reviews of the places they go to eat.
Saphne: Basset Bedlam - Not another Family Blog
Daphne is the ultimate stay at home mum and it's a blog about hints and tips about raising kids. having 4 kids within 4 years it's a hit and she gets her sister's in law involved with it and her adorable nephews and its about raising kids. Useful tips of dealing with tantrums, poonami's and adorable moments of Simon dancing with all three of his daughter's.
they share details of their family life and do monthly Q&A's. Daphne also does a podcast a bit like Gionvanni Fletchers Happy Baby Happy Mum...
Philoise: Plants, Prose and Pressure
it started off as Eloise doing book reviews and talking about the pressures of being a woman in modern society. the demands and the expetations and it's just rants and very much a feministic blog...
She gets Amanda on talking about her favourite book and Oliver talks about his favourite football team.
Eloise films Phillip talking about plants and caring for them one day and is surprised at how well it takes off and when she shows Phillip all the questions in the comments he agrees to do more and it's how the blog continues
Franchel: A Wee Wicked Dram
Mike has a drink review youtube, he talked about his travels and being in India and his cures and treatment for Malaria, he and Phillip do a joint one on the herbal remedies he does.
Mike wanted to change the blog to be a bit more Adult but Fran wasn't having any of it as her mother watched it! (but they do have a secret adult channel on a popular adult site that no-one knows about and they go by pseudo manes of the Count and Countess...)
but Fran likes to review Wine, drink and food and offers up her classy recommendations to go with food. she's a bit of a connoisseur of spirits, cocktails and wine...
Mike loves a review of Whiskey but went viral after Fran switched it out with some Bourbon and he spat it out and ranted for a good two hours about how it wasn't whiskey and never would be.
Grucy: Cheaper not quite by the Dozen.
Greg is the stay at home dad. it's videos of him with all his children, talking men through how to do girl's hair, how to plait and how to raise kids. it's really popular with single dad's and it's tips on saving money when you've got a ridiculous amount of kids.
How to save money, how to bulk cook and videos' on getting 9 kids' lunch ready for school.
it's also a massive nerd zone and he and Lucy do specials and review TV shows dressed as their favourite characters and couples from shows as they watch.
Hyreth: The Mystery Machine
Of course their blog is about modern day crime and mystery stories. Hyacinth documents their attempts to find the lost jewels of the St.Clair family (Which ends up being picked up and adapted for a film)
but she loves Sherlock Holmes type mysteries and gets really involved in the drama and other mysteries, talking about shows and she and Gareth spend time trying to help people solve their own mysteries.
it's also full of fun videos of her ridiculous large family and her most popular video she got all of her family, siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews all involved in a ridiculous tiktok style video.

Meta meme: 1, 4, 5, 16, 20.
hiiii! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SENDING IN! I'm gonna put this under the cut cause it got too long - and thank you again! 🥺💖😭
(meta writer's asks)
1. Tell us about your current project(s)  – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?
welllll, i think i've answered this before too djkd! but, both of these are more like just a fun self indulgence project that I came to love the idea of it hehe! 1) regency vibes au - the title kinda give it away, but yeah, its actually a commoner x royalty vibes actually of one of my favs otp in it heh. and the progress, well its very slow - but its kinda like a graph, up and downs; but it hopefully has good progress all the way! and what i love most about it, well - i gained a new love for period movies now, and to imagine it in that setting; the whole process of it was so fun to think about. browsing for the aesthetics too - WAS SUCH A FUN PROCESS.
2) a second chance/flower & coffee shop au. - the title also gives it away like literally sjskksks! but, this is like more of just to explore the theme of second chances within well the same otp too heh! and, i feel like - its more of a meant to be thing too yknow? its one of my guilty pleasures tropes djkdkd! the progress is actually pretty slow? im still figuring out the pace of it all, there's like a bunch of flashbacks that kinda connect with the scenes during the present day which honestly feels pretty hard, but its fun! what do i love most about it, i think the exploration of it again and the fact that its kinda a projection of my little dream, coffee shop with books or maybe a flower shop too, if i cant make it irl - well, projection does help! hee
4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)
I have a few that I am quite proud hehe! So, im gonna lay it here! This is the first one, honestly - sibling regency banter. I think this part of the scene was definitely one of my favs cause it feels...just right yknow! hehe, also daphne belongs to @/wayhavenots! <3
"What's this?" She begins to read before an eye roll follows, earning a fit of laughter from Daphne herself at the reaction.
"Really Nicholas? You are old and rowdy, and you still read some gossip, unbelievable." Maia teased him, as he took a sip of his drink - an Earl Gray tea to be precise.
"And now you're drinking your best friend there, good for you." Daphne continues on the chuckles escaping her lips, before replying to Maia's comments.
"It's much entertainment through the gossip dear sister, and Nicholas here - was pretty fond upon hoping to find his own suitor through it, making it a much scandalous endeavor." Daphne replies as Nick almost spits out his drink, making the sisters giggle at the sight of him.
"Speaking of which, my work is much more important than finding a suitor. Mother already bit my ear off by the fact that I haven't found anyone yet, but I'm taking life by the breeze."
"Whatever it suits you then brother, here the story talks about the Prince's engagement with the Barsen's will be commencing soon. And I quote, "a special occasion" as the prince finally found maybe his one true love." Maia places the paper by her side, taking a bite of some biscuits laid on the table.
"Lucky for the prince - I heard Princess Lorelai was quite the angel of her own." Lady Margaret interrupts the conversation before she leaves to the back of the house.
ALSO THERE'S THIS ONE CHUNK OF A SCENE THAT IM IN LOVE WITH, SO i shall share it here hehehe! its actually more of a draft scene, but it feels like one of my favs hehe. (this is the shorter version of it!)
“And you, your classiness - would you want to be queen someday if it was written in your destiny?” he asked her again, as Maia thinks about it. She takes the flower crown they were making earlier and placed it on top of her head again.
“I think I'll stick with being the queen of the lands. The cows as my subject, and I'll give you a proper answer then your highness.” She stands up, and waves to the empty field. A burst of laughter escaped her lips, as Kent stood by her side.
“However, I think the king of the fields is needed to tend its subject. Shall we?” Maia pushes out her hand, and he takes it gratefully. Another flower crown on top of his head, like the laughter, follows their footsteps, walking around the field, waving to a bunch of cows literally. They were being the rulers of the field after all.
5. What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?
I think the one that I identify the most while in my writing, is definitely maia and a bit of Raylene there. It's a mix of everyone actually, but those two sorta have a huge chunk of me in it!
16. Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?)
I'm trying to dip into first style pov (But gosh, that feels so hard...but, trying!) and, I been trying to also write well, in historical vibes (which i tend to modernize lol, its hard jdkdk) and fandom - i might have some ideas in the future! but, those are kinda new changes, since I tend to stick with the norm sadly, but baby steps!
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
OOOHH, this is a good question. I think in writing, I love writing callbacks and clues. In one of my AU's - I wrote a scene where, its talking about a possibility of the future, and like it happens. I love when they do that, the foreshadowing is something fun to put in it! For characters development, I think one of those elements I could talk about is definitely more of a scene where the mc grows in the period of time the main couple broke up. They have been through shit, and they learn and when they see each other again, they... are ready. They felt more secure, and they both grow in their own ways, by going through a lot of pain in between the periods of time!
This question is honestly so hard, because my brain tends to go empty but, those are some of the elements that i really love right now!!
THANK YOU FOR SENDING IN, IM SO SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO REPLY IT! <3

A demanding morning
The taste of bitter scotch on my tongue lingered, as i put my glass down. A demanding start to the morning, a person I live with had to go out early. The stillness of the air as only footsteps to the door rang out. Only the mansion walls kept the dreaded echoing sound inside. The door to the front opened. Sweet chirping of morning birds and the rustling leaves of the trees played a contrast. As the person I live with has a melodic melancholy voice, "Damien, I'll be going out. I have some business to attend to." "Right, right." I answered gruffly but maybe a bit sober too.  As I looked over to him he wore his usual wry smile. If I could describe him in four words; arrogant, juvenile, intelligent and mysterious. All of those qualities shrouded together in one person. The rest would see a mad man, a waste of potential. But maybe I see, some sort of quality that my one sibling had. I don't know. He tilted his top hat, and smiled. Just before, he started off on an elegant amble. The doors slammed shut, only leaving the question. Who is this man I speak of? Well...His name is Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein. If you doubt it, you've mistaken me me for a fool. I've known him for six long as hell years, and I don't plan on stopping. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ This is for the 'The Curse of Victor Frankenstein/Victor Frankenstein's curse ' Au or retelling. I've just decided to write a short and sweet paragraph introducing Victor and Damien. Who is Damien, well you'll see. I want to make a comic out of this but- I suck at art ngl, and at making comics but i will sometime for practice. This is a morning writing exercise as i being very sleep deprived, sleep deprived drink tea. Yeah I know very classy. Criticism is appreciated! ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ ~What is "The Curse of Victor Frankenstein" or "Victor Frankensteins curse "Au? A version of "Frankenstein; or the modern prometheus," using the movie "Curse of Frankenstein". and that one 90s version that i cant pinpoint the date of. And the Frankenstein musical maybe {I havent seen all of them just these two, so if I see any more it may change depending on how much inspiration i get}. But anyways I was like: Lets mash Jekyll and Hyde into Frankenstein somehow. And I got this. Damien is a Representation of Hyde, and Victor is Jekyll. And then some fantasy and “Madness aspects.“ As well As basing it in the late 1700s. Regency rather than Victorian era which requires research which I have a soft spot for. And alot of drama in the Au eee. + Adam and eve references.  Its kinda a disastrous alchemist mixture out of all of them currently. /j{Joking} ~How the FUCK DID IT START? It stemmed out from wanting to make like a rewrite of Frankenstein, completely from victors pov, but with a few minor changes. But It turns out I made an Au. ~Is it finished? God no not at all, I dont know when it'll be.

Evens for the WIP meme ask? Thank you! ❤️
Hi, thanks for the ask! Since the number of WIPs I have are well into double figures, I’ll probably just choose a bunch of random ones for these out of the ones I’ve got on my computer.
2. Post a line from your WIP without context.
Once they had returned home, he had wanted nothing more than to head up to his room and hide, but his uncle’s iron grip on his upper arm pulling him into the drawing room had thwarted that wish. He hadn’t dared fight against the man. Uncle Cary had made it quite clear upon his arrival back from school that he expected to be obeyed in all matters, and George knew his future was far too uncertain to risk provoking his only remaining family member with displays of defiance.
4. Describe the setting of your WIP.
Hmm, I think I’ll go for my JS&MN AU for this one, an extract of which I have posted here. So this is basically an AU set in the universe of the novel Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell--for anyone who might be unfamiliar with it, it’s a book (and a pretty decent TV adaptation) set in a regency England where magic was once frequently practised but has declined after the Raven King, a medieval magician who conquered the north of England with a fairy army, left his kingdom behind to return to Faerie. The fic is set in Poldark’s s1 timeline, so about fifteen/twenty years before the events of JS&MN canon, featuring Dwight, Ross and Francis as magicians, George as a fairy nobleman from a neighbouring Faerie kingdom, and Elizabeth as a magician’s wife whom George ends up taking an interest in.
6. Search for the word “dream” in your WIP. If you find it, paste the line and explain the context.
I haven’t been able to find it in any of the extracts I have on my computer, but I’m sure it’s probably there somewhere in one of my notebooks. Unfortunately the majority of those are in a box over three hundred miles away so I can’t really check through them ha.
8. What is your biggest challenge?
Actually getting anything finished. Honestly, it depends on the individual fic but for a long time it’s been writer’s block. My undergrad dissertation took a lot out of me and I wasn’t really in the mood for writing for a long time afterwards. S5 airing gave me a bit of a kick up the arse writing-wise though, so I’d say my biggest challenge at the moment is trying to figure out where everything goes in my super long post s5 AU where George gets shot by Hanson. At the moment I’ve just got loads and loads of random bits with only a vague idea of what order they go in and how they join up to each other, and it’s getting to be so long I just keep putting off planning it out properly. Also finishing that last chapter of The Cornish Way damn I can’t even remember when I last updated that I feel so guilty about it ha.
10. How would you describe your WIP’s narrative style?
Well, as I’ve already mentioned I have a whooole bunch of WIPs, but I always write in 3rd person (1st person grates on me, both reading and writing, for some reason--I don’t know why). I’ve got several multi-chap fics in the works, some short, some long. Most of my shorter multi-chap fics tend to alternate between Elizabeth’s POV and George’s, but my long post s5 AU will feature the majority of the characters’ POVs at some point, depending on when they’re needed, though since the fic is George-centric, his perspective is the main one. When it comes to my one-shots, they’re usually either from George or Elizabeth’s perspectives, sometimes both if it’s a particularly long one. I tend to lean towards using Elizabeth’s POV for one-shots for some reason, but there’s a fair few from George’s as well, and a couple of angsty ones told entirely from Valentine’s perspective.
12. Which character do you have the least in common with?
Since my post s5 AU includes Merceron, Hanson and Dr Penrose, I’m glad to say that I haven’t the slightest thing in common with any of those three. But if we’re talking about a main character, I’d say probably Ross. The only thing I have in common with him is a tendency to get fed up at parties ha.
14. Have you chosen birthdays for any of your characters? If so, when are they?
Not really--tbh, I’m not sure how many of them, if any, were given birthdays by WG. I tend to headcanon George’s birthday as being in October, but that’s about it.
16. What would your characters be for Hallowe’en?
Well, I’ve got a couple of WIPs set in the modern era which this could work for, but since one of them is a modern witchcraft AU (in which Elizabeth, Caroline, Demelza, Morwenna and Verity live together in Truro as a secret coven of witches, Francis is a melancholy ghost who haunts the building and they’ve never been able to exorcise, and George, their landlord’s nephew, is their baffled neighbour who only puts up with their weird shenanigans because he has a soft spot for Elizabeth), I guess that’s appropriately Hallowe’en-y ha. For that AU, I reckon Elizabeth would probably dress up as something kind of classy, like as an Ancient Greek lady or a medieval queen, something like that. Caroline would dress up as a witch, I reckon, for the sake of irony (Horace, of course, would have a complementary costume :P). Verity, I think, would make a cute angel, and one of those wood nymph/woodland fairy costumes would probably suit Demelza. Morwenna might dress up as a Hogwarts student or something like that, and Francis insists that since he is an actual, literal ghost, there’s no need for him to dress up. George, on the other hand, absolutely does not do Hallowe’en, but they still manage to drag him down from the flat upstairs, put a pair of little Devil horns on him and make him watch scary films with them. Which he hates every minute of. Absolutely. Totally.
18. What’s easier, dialogue or description?
It depends, but I generally find description easier than dialogue. When I have dialogue-heavy scenes to write, I generally write them out in my notebooks basically in script form so I can figure out where the scene is going and once that’s out of the way, I find it much easier to add all the description in around it rather than having to constantly stop to figure out what the characters are meant to be saying to each other.
20. Post a brief excerpt.
So there’s a whole load to choose from, but I’ve decided to go with this one, which is from a ghost Elizabeth AU I’ve been working on ever since the end of s4 and have been really struggling to get on with because there’s so much bloody angst in it ha :--
The days leading up to Christmas dragged slowly on, and with each long hour that passed, George found himself regretting his decision to allow their initial plans for the festivities to go ahead with ever increasing certainty. The Blameys were neither unkind nor insensitive—quite the opposite in fact; their presence seemed to restore some faint but much needed cheer to Geoffrey Charles, and the company of another boy near his own age had restored Valentine to a fraction of his usual liveliness—but he, who had never been a friend to Verity, and was not well acquainted with her husband or stepchildren, felt the constant pressure of their scrutiny, alongside the horrible awareness of his own inadequacy as their host, whenever he found himself in their company. Verity, in particular, had taken to sending him at frequent intervals, whenever she saw him decline a meal, or else stumbled across him staring up at Elizabeth’s portrait hanging above the mantelpiece in the drawing room, what he had come to refer to in his mind as Looks. Verity had always been a kind and well-meaning soul, but there was a distinct pitying quality to those Looks which he had come to both resent and despise. He could have far more easily borne it if she had scorned his conduct. Her pity, however, wounded what little care he could summon for his pride in the wake of Elizabeth’s loss—he had no need to be reminded of the wretched creature he was fast becoming every time he met her gaze.
Finally, after what seemed like an age, the morning of Christmas Eve came. It had snowed once again during the night, and upon seeing the unblemished blanket of white through the window upon waking, Valentine and young master Andrew had rushed outside, accompanied by the Blameys Senior and Junior and Geoffrey Charles, in order to enjoy it. As the young Esther, whom it had not taken George long to discover was somewhat reticent in nature, had elected to break her fast in her room, that, unfortunately, left he and Verity alone together at the dining table, save for little Ursula, who was playing quietly and contentedly with her own feet in her cradle beside his chair. At barely a few weeks old, however, she was not quite an accomplished enough conversationalist to distract Verity from engaging with him. With a barely audible sigh, George reached for a slice of toast despite his lack of appetite in a vague hope of fending off another Look which he was sure was on the verge of rearing its unwelcome head above the horizon.
“I am glad to see that the boys have regained a little of their usual cheer,” she spoke up suddenly, causing George to pause halfway towards taking a bite out of his unwanted toast; a glance her way confirmed that, despite his best efforts, he was being treated to what could only be described as a Look. “It is a terrible thing to lose one’s parent, no matter one’s age, and certainly not a burden one should face so early in life.”

Vanity Fair
(So I got my treadmill thing on Tuesday to hold my laptop. Some people might think its stressful to walk and try to be productive at the same time. So far I actually feel great and more relaxed. Because normally I feel stressed about getting everything I need to do done. And also I feel disappointed in myself that I wasn’t able to make time for myself, to walk. So now I can do both. I love it. I looked at a lot of different products. Some were way too expensive. Some were too big. I finally found this one. And it works well with my treadmill and laptop. It is a Vivo product.)
Apparently I love Regency Era entertainment now. I did not really feel interested in it when I was younger. I’m not sure what originally sparked my interest in Regency Era things. But last year during the two weeks after the lockdown started and before I was able to start working from home I made a point to watch as many movies as possible that I had never seen before. Among them were Regency Era drama’s.
After Bridgerton, I wanted to watch more “like” it. And if you liked Bridgerton (and if you especially want more Eloise) then I recommend the 2018 mini series Vanity Fair. It is available on Prime Video, but it might be possible to find on other platforms.
Miss Amelia “Emmy” Sedley is played by Claudia Jessie, the actress who played the feminist Eloise Bridgerton. Claudia Jessie is so stunning and it made me happy to see her in something else after finding her in Bridgerton. Of course “Emmy” is one of the characters at the forefront of the story. And Claudia does an amazing job in this portrayal. Clearly she is a very skilled actress. And I’m sure we all are looking forward to seeing more of her. And certainly now that we KNOW more Bridgerton is coming, after their announcement today confirming season 2.
There is also Olivia Cooke as Rebecca “Becky” Sharp, who I had previously seen in another Prime series Modern Love. Olivia’s “Becky” is more of a sly cat than Reese Witherspoon’s role as “Becky” in the 2004 Vanity Fair. Olivia’s portrayal of “Becky” is openly conniving almost to a laughable level for the sake of the audience. And many times through out the mini series she looks directly at the camera and gives a smirk saying, “These fools”. I started rewatching the 2004 Vanity Fair but got distracted by how much of a fantasy it is compared to the 2018 mini series I just finished. One time for sure when having the available time of a mini series pays off.
There are many other actors and actresses in this 2018 mini series that can be recognized. Leading to that joke about British entertainment. That they have 16 actors, 2 sets, and 1 umbrella. Obviously not true, but funny to someone like me that easily recognizes actors and actresses from their other roles. Like by accident I watched Fleabag and followed it by Vanity Fair, that both include Sian Clifford (Claire in Fleabag, Martha Crawley in Vanity Fair).
I swear its not just the accents. Who else has a crush on all of these good looking British and Scottish men? Haha.
Anyway... The filming of Vanity Fair is not over the top and yet very beautiful. The wardrobe is very understated compared to Bridgerton, a show that made a point of getting very creative with their clothing. Vanity Fair follows most if not all of the Regency Era wardrobe rules, and you may feel relived to know that their waistlines are not in the middle of their boobs, and are rightfully directly under them instead.
If you have not seen Vanity Fair, I recommend it. Especially if you are more inclined to traditional views on how to interpret Regency Era fashion and music. #walking and working#giving my opinion while trying not to give spoilers#2018 Vanity Fair mini series#Olivia Cooke#Claudia Jessie#Bridgerton#YES MORE Bridgerton#Who else can't wait#British#British entertainment is amazing#Regency Era entertainment#old fashioned#of course we can be classy and sassy at the same time6 notes

I do have something to add to this! The likelihood of which is dubious cause, yes the six idiots have a penchant towards history but this brings in stuff that's more I Am A Giant Austen Nerd than general history enthusiasm. But!
If we're talking about really nitty-gritty historical accuracy, the fact that the house was named Higham House, owned by the Higham family, would actually have been seen as, vaguely trashy for the time period? You don't actually get all that many Posh Estates whose names are tied to the family name in general, but I do know for the regency era in particular like. Acquiring a house and then naming it after your family was not really a very tasteful thing to do, and was generally associated with new money people (from business ownership as a part of the growing industrial revolution, rather than generations of being a large-scale landlord in the gentry) or those who were kind of social upstarts. The Austen nerd example is Sir William Lucas in Pride and Prejudice, who was given a knighthood later on in life, thought much of himself because of this, and either purchased a new family home or renamed his existing one to Lucas Lodge (the alliteration I think is supposed to add to the absurdity which, like... Higham House). And this is meant to be read as a bit ott and not very classy.
And I doubt ghosts has THAT much nerdy accuracy in its worldbuilding, so realistically within the timeline the Eleanor marrying a Higham thing is probably more likely. But if you take the accurate historical read, I'd say you end up with the more plausible scenario being Kitty's dad outliving both of his daughters, and the Highams, a less-established family, purchasing the house and changing the name in a bit of a landed gentry faux pas.
um i just realized something. kitty is 263, which means she was probably born in 1758, only 66 years before thomas died in 1824.
now kitty's father said that she and eleanor would be getting equal inheritance which would presumably make the house a bit complicated, but considering that kitty seemingly died very young, and that she tells alison in episode three that she only thinks her father is dead, she probably died before him, meaning that eleanor would have received the entirety of the inheritance, including the house.
additionally, we don't actually know anything about isabelle's mother, she's not even mentioned. we also don't know how her family came to own the house, but considering that kitty had only been dead for about 45 years, give or take, and her father probably died after that, that's not really all that long for the house to have changed hands. however, if isabelle's father, a higham, had married eleanor, after her father died, they would have inherited the house, and definitely had cause to name it higham house.
all this to say that it's likely, given the timeline, that eleanor is isabelle's mother, which would make isabelle kitty's niece.

Short stay: Country Living St. George Hotel, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, UK
Every room looks as if it’s been tastefully curated for a magazine shoot – which is no surprise as Country Living Magazine is bringing country chic to urban stays in what was orginally a grand Edwardian mansion.
A rambling Grade 2 listed building was the perfect candidate for a classy makeover that name-checks Regency taste with wide-stripped high-backed chairs and the occasional classically styled alabaster bust.
It is as if the country squire has taken a cool interior designer for a wife who has chucked out the chintz. Big bold statement canvasses of Yorkshire landscapes bring the countryside into this peaceful urban oasis.
The welcome
Reception is part of the open plan cafe / lounge with two comfy chairs to slump into after your travels. It’s a warm welcome, help with luggage is followed by tea or coffee.
And there’s a small box of Country Living chocolates in your room too.
The rooms
In the premier double rooms, with five-foot beds, a plush sofa dressed with duck-print cushions immediately strikes a leisurely note of comfort. Light-giving cream walls contrast with dark grey woodwork. It’s all further brightened by a burst of colour from fresh pink orchids. Retro black telephones and traditional style alarm clocks nostalgically step-back to an era before digitalisation.
There are two fans for balmy summer days. Bronte woolly throw, by Moon, for chilly winter nights.
The bathroom
In a eclectic style statement designer Oliver Redfern takes a variety of single tiles, in black-and-white geometric designs, from Ted Baker’s wide range, to decorate the bathroom.
There’s a spacious rainfall shower and a separate fair-sized bath with Victorian style silver finish fittings. A generous supply of toiletries are sourced from Harrogate’s very own H2K.
The facilities
No spa but why would you need one when Harrogate’s famed Turkish Baths, with their huge array of treatments, are just a 90 second walk away?
Country Living is big on relaxing airy lounges with more chairs and sofas than a Sofology showroom.
Harrogate with its vibrantly planted and immaculate tended public formal gardens does civic pride better than most. Look out onto those gardens and cascading hanging baskets from the comfort of the Drawing Room. Meanwhile a quintessential country house library, leather-bound books, features a pool table too. Tempting to grab a drink from the Dog and Duck bar and lose yourself in a book.
Taking the green of the original stained glass window,  the Swaledale Restaurant runs with a theme of a distinguished light olive green. Edgy brass exposed-filament light-fittings, hanging from white stucco ceilings, introduce a contemporary note to a dining room featuring the symmetry of tall Palladian pillars.
There’s a menu that plays on the Country House theme: locally sourced and seasonal wherever possible. A starter of crab, contrasted with delicate crisp flavours of thinly sliced local apple, comes from Whitby. There’s a zingy chutney, like granny used to make, accompanying pressed duck. Similarly the chef’s recommendation of Dales bred lamb is another local winner.
Unsurprisingly the Swaledale Restaurant is popular with locals for pre-theatre dinners, so bookings from 7.30 pm tend to be more relaxed.
The location
Forget your car and park-up for a few days. Country Living St George is in the heart of Harrogate, opposite the theatre and close to the original Pump Room, for the famous spa waters, that is now a museum.
If you go on a shopping spree in the Montpelier Quarter of over fifty independent shops, bars and cafes it is just a few minutes back to the hotel.
Harrogate is renowned for its Festivals including focuses on Children, Comedy, Crime Writing, Gilbert and Sullivan, International Youth and Literature. So the hotel makes for an ideal Festival base.
Other nice touches
You can ring reception for fresh milk or almond milk with your tea or coffee.
The turn-down service leaves a soothing array of H2K fragrances to ease you into sleep.
Cost
Off-peak a Cosy Double Room begins from £70.
The best bit
The whole hotel exudes the homely spirit of elegant Country Living, from the green wellies and walking staff by the door to a tasty apple and sultana crumble.
Guests depart inspired, perhaps clutching the latest edition of the Country Living Magazine, ready to upgrade their bathrooms, bedrooms and lounge at home.
The final verdict
The perfect location for exploring Harrogate by foot and Yorkshire by bus or car.
And remember that this is the year to visit Harrogate. Betty’s Tea Room, an English instituting that draws in visitors from all over world, celebrates its 100th birthday.

The fit-and-flare silhouette is extremely flattering on many body types. Discover more below:
Fit and Flare
The fit and flare style is similar to the A-line style, as the cutting of these dresses are similar, although the fit and flare style is more form fitting. Under the fit and flare style, there is the Mermaid style and the Trumpet style.
Both the Mermaid and the Trumpet style are more sensual as the top of the dress hugs the body while the bottom flares out closer to the body. The difference lies in how the Mermaid style flares out at knee length while the Trumpet style flares out at mid-thigh.
The Mermaid style creates the illusion of a fuller hourglass figure, which makes it best for brides that wish to accentuate their curves. However, if you intend to move around a lot on your wedding day (to dance), this style of dress may not be the best for you, as it does not allow much movement.
The Trumpet style will be more suitable for you if you have an hourglass figure, as the top part of the dress will hug your waist closely. If you have a pear or apple-shaped body, this style may not be ideal for you, as it will draw attention to your stomach and hip area. Z Wedding has more on great wedding silhouettes
Stella York, style 6718+. Become the belle of the ball in this Dove Satin wedding dress. Demure, off-the-shoulder detachable straps create the perfect multi-look option. To Sleeve Or Not To Sleeve…That Is The Question
The trend of detachable wedding dress sleeves is exciting and versatile. Brides seeking multiple looks for their ceremony, reception and wedding photos will love taking advantage of all of the striking possibilities! Enjoy a strapless look for part of your day and coordinate your wardrobe update seamlessly. NYB&G celebrates hand selected designs specifically for the modern bride. Discover more great inspiration on how to create multiple looks for your wedding day without purchasing two separate wedding gowns below:
Other ideas to create a convertible two-in-one look for your wedding day include adding on accessories. Perhaps you want to remain a little more conservative for the ceremony but be able to let loose for the reception. You could wear a sweetheart strapless gown and layer it with a lace topper, fur bolero or beaded capelet to add a little more cover to your arms and decolletage. These add-ons can easily be removed (or added) between the ceremony and reception to switch up your look, and are generally less expensive than purchasing two separate gowns.
So whether you want two completely different bridal looks that include two separate wedding dresses, or if you just want to add on or remove layers between your wedding and reception, there are options to switch up your wedding day look that suit any size budget.
