i like to think they Do cry, but my god it takes a Lot. this goes for All of them. like, we've seen in canon when the nxx boys and rosa cries, and it's usually during/after very high stakes or very emotional situations. some examples off the top of my head are

marius cries in SSR Unconcealable, the card where mc gets KIDNAPPED and then both of them get TRAPPED IN A FREEZER FOR A HOT SEC

mc cries in SSR Peaceful Place because she thought luke got shot and DIED,

luke cries in his Blossom Chapter Personal Story 4 because he thought mc DROWNED AND DIED

artem cries in SSR Two Hearts as one because he got so emotional acting like he was choking mc

vyn cries in...well, several cards like SR False Tears and SSR Neon Melody but those were 1) not exactly a "healthy" way of dealing with emotions or 2) caused by pepper spray KJHVSKJDF. im behind on vyn's cards, idk in which ones he cries honestly due to genuine in distress

so like, they DO cry. but it seems to take rather a lot to get them there. the flipside is that they also cry when overcome with immensely positive emotion (like, mc was on the verge of tears when luke finally proposed in SSR Orange Scent) so at least theres that!!!! but it's not much, chief....

all members of the nxx team all are IMMENSELY repressed. i think the most emotionally healthy of the team is DAVIS, which isnt a good sign, given that hes not even human

here are some misc headcanons on the nxx team and crying

i hc that luke as a kid was Such a crybaby. he'd cry over everything: when he saw a sad movie, when he saw a happy movie, when he saw a dog being walked but the dog was so dang small, when mc cries and his high empathy kicks in to make it Our Cry Session, just...he cried over IT ALL. he was just a very emotionally sensitive child, even to emotions from others. he eventually got emotionally steadier as he grew up but i think there are innocuous movies that, due to him crying over them as a kid, still make luke cry as an adult

aight so greek mythology premise; a siren spots a small boat and an even smaller figure in the distance. first catch of the day she thinks, grinning to herself.

PLOT TWIST bc i dont feel like being eloquent this early in the morning lol: theyre deaf! and sirens iirc are part of apollos domain or sum and as the god of knowledge in my eyes hes a polygot and this is shared with the sirens to appeal to the biggest demographic of people lol.

anyway she sings and to no affect, sailor feels the water shift underneath them and turns to see the siren (in their real from bc why not) and puts 2 and 2 together and starts to sign. boat person is shook and signs back :D probably unaware of the sirens motives.

ALTERNATIVELY: tis a child! and ig sirens arent particularly picky with those who trespass into their waters, but perhaps she either takes pity, or intends to go about with business as usal but kiddo unknowingly outsmarts her and she amused decides to leave them be, or even better take them in (bc what parents let their kid venture that far) or a secret fourth option.

TRAGICOMEDY: sailor is suicidal and knows exactly what theyre getting themselves into, and the only thing holding up their backflip from the boat is them getting stuck in the nets. shenanigans ensue where siren helps them to get to her lunch faster. and idk they bond, maybe she talks them out of it bc meals dont taste good when they willingly walk into their traps or maybe its some code of ethics thing.

Megumi has made a lot of mistakes. Treated a lot of people poorly. And every time he thinks he’s out of the woodwork, he remembers when he told Yuji he’d have to die. And every time he tries to focus on how he and Yuji are good friends now, he makes another mistake.

“God, just - two seconds. Two seconds to myself, that’s it. I don’t have time for you right now.”

The little quiver of your lips followed by the small frown was enough to shatter worlds and Megumi hates the memory of it carved into his brain.

Now, he holds onto your hand like you’ll slip into thin air the second he lets go. You had rushed off after he snapped at you, and he cannot bring himself to blame you - not at all. He should’ve gone after you. He should’ve been quicker on the apology. He should’ve never said that to you. Gojo was being more of a pest today than usual and he was wearing thin, but that was not your fault and he should not have taken it out on you.

Megumi rests his head back against the wall of your room, hand still enclosed tight around yours.

A minor concussion. Nothing to worry about. But Megumi can’t stand the thought of your head being clouded with the idea that he doesn’t have time for you. That he doesn’t want you around.

Nobara had found you later at night when you didn’t come back to the dorms. Apparently her call for you had startled you out of the tree you’d been sitting in.

He shakes his head but there’s a smile pulling at his lips. That was so you.

Shoko said you’d be up within the hour but it feels like eons since Megumi had first come into your room.

He turns on his phone to check the time. Only two minutes since he last checked and yet it feels like years.

“Wake up already, airhead,” Megumi huffs.

“Geez, no need to be so rude.”

His head immediately snaps toward your bed and his eyes widen upon seeing yours flutter awake. You reach up with the hand he isn’t clinging to and rub at your eyes.

“You didn’t have to come,” you pout, turning to look out your bedroom window.

“I was worried,” he shrugs, laying the phone down on your bedside table and reaching into his pocket, “‘s only a minor concussion, but still.”

Your head slowly swivels so you’re looking up at him again, lips still drawn downcast, “Sorry I bugged you, ‘gumi.”

Megumi shakes his head, fishing out a pair of earphones and tossing them onto the table near his phone, “You don’t bug me. I’m sorry I snapped,” his thumb rubs over your wrist, refusing to disconnect your hands as he plugs in the earbuds and fumbles to put one in his ear, “Take the other one.”

“Huh?” you sit up and rest against the headboard of your bed, taking the earbud and scooting closer to the edge of the mattress, closer to Megumi, “Why?”

With a flash, the phone is turned on and Megumi opens it, pressing play. He swallows down the nerves in his throat and does his best to shrug nonchalantly as the melody comes to life through the wires, “Your favorite song came on and I’ve been waiting for you to get up.”

“Aww,” you coo, reaching up with your free hand and poking his cheek, to which he contently lets you, “you’re a big ol’ softie, ‘gumi.”

He squeezes your hand, “Just don’t go running off like that. You scared us.”

Scared him.

It’s quiet as you nod. Your eyes fall closed and Megumi refuses to release your hand. His stare is locked on you. He’s glad you’re awake. He’s glad you’re okay. He’s glad you’re here.

That’s all he can ask of you.

Your song flows to its end and Megumi’s favorite begins trailing after.

“Hey, ‘gumi?” you look at him now, eyes drooping despite just having woken up.

“Hm?”

Your gaze dart from him to the window before falling back to him, “What’s cunnilingus?”

He chokes on the air halfway to his lungs, “Where’d you hear that?”

its wild how they didnt really delve into the whole ‘war crimes’ thing w/the hunter association lmao. idk if this movie is canon so that might be why....they just brushed over the fact that the HA was like, running concentration camps and murdering entire groups of people. wild 

this movie was fun!! it felt more like hxh than the last movie, which v much felt like a generic anime movie. this one felt more in character. it did fall into typical anime movie tropes sometimes but the characters felt more like themselves here, espec w/the point of the story this seems to be set at 

like gons anger and all that - while it obvs comes from a place of love and kindness, he can get carried away sometimes...i feel like we’re gonna rlly delve into the negative impact of this in the CA arc and i am both so ready and not ready at all 

this movie was hella gay which i appreciate. love the gays

the Writing 3 Playlist on Spotify 

I think this bad boy is a hint at the game’s timeline

maybe not 100% explanatory, but I think we can guess certain parts of the game through this

and i just wanna tell y’all now, almost all of this is speculation, as honestly im 90% sure the playlist was created bc it had borderlands-y songs in it (although the last few have me scratching my head)

lemme explain why im writing this, though I’m very thirsty for lore

tl;dr: game goes like this: lilith powers stolen. go to promethea, go to jungle, find brick mordy and tina, get into a fight, lose fight, go find other VHs, get into another fight, Krieg shows up to save Maya, maya die. (oh no she ded), the twins have their we are GODS moment, the VHs get summoned to the Eridian homeworld, there’s a huge ass final battle, someone attempts to create an end-of-the-world scenario

so the playlist itself was created to help one of the authors of the game get into their borderlands jam 

it starts with a Cage the Elephant song, “Trouble”, the band of which we all know wrote the first song used in BL1. Not really much else to say here, but we do know the opening cutscene of the game involves our current team of Vault Hunters being attacked by the Children of the Vault. this is, of course, not indicative of any songs used in bl3, but we can assume it captures the general feeling of the game.

Second song: “Fire” by Barns Courtney (holy shit I love this guy so fucking much!! if you’ve never listened to his music, PLEASE do so! I really recommend “Rather Die”- I am in the process of making a bl3 animatic to it actually lmao). 

So anyway, I’m just sayin’, the lyrics of this song...

holy fuck i love this song so much. and its so very obviously about the Calypso Twins- at the very least its Tyreen.

this one honestly had got me stumped as to its purpose, i lowkey kinda think its getting Sanctuary 3 up and running (and possibly meeting Maya for the first time- still not sure about that). I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a whole thing for Scooter and this song fits pretty well. I imagine we also meet Vaughn and the Children at some point, so maybe here?

“Greeting the Menace” by Zack Hemsey 

yeah i uhhhh dunno. This sounds like a song about a dude getting tortured which scares me a bit lmao. 

I thought maybe this song and the next 2 could be VH-based songs, as the next 2 have no lyrics whatsoever and the third is called “Best Friends”, but who knows... If this is the case I could make the argument this is about Zane or Moze, leaning towards Zane cuz he’s pretty covered up, plus I think “Best Friends” would be more Moze’s style lmao

I could also see this being a song about Troy... could explain all the ‘body mods’ and the missing arm.

“ProtoVision” by Kavinsky

If we’re going with the idea that these next few songs are about the Vault Hunters, then I imagine this would be Fl4k’s. It’s got that synth and some guitar which I think fits perfectly with his robo-hobo aesthetic lol

Other than that, I truly have no idea what part of the story this song could reference since there aren’t any lyrics. Maybe Promethea’s city? I could kinda see it, it sounds pretty high-tech

Similarly, “diatribe.” by Oliver Michael

the beginning gives me a whole meditation vibe which I kinda associate with Amara and her phasecast skill which “sends out an astral projection” of herself. 

Then again, this could be the outskirts of the Promethean city... I could see myself wandering around the huge ass foliage and discovering an abandoned research base to this song idk

“Best Friends” by grandson

aaahh i love grandson. I think this could be a Moze-based song. I just get that vibe from her leather jacket... anyway

I also could totally see this as discovering Brick, Mordecai, and Tina in the research base (if that truly is where they are). Cause we saw them in the trailer hanging out there. 

tbh the lyrics themselves kinda remind me of pre-Tales Rhys and Fiona and all their friends

Sounds like Father left the cult, though, oof, and Mother stuck around. Wonder what that’s all about, maybe he felt like the twins were working fast/efficient enough and left to do things himself? Very lost on this idea tbh. the song seems very out of place, but it has to connect to something, yknow?

For those of you who don’t speak fluent Latin (the fuck guys?? lmao jk), the title means "Day of Wrath". Nice, nice, nice.

Maybe they found some way to imbue the cultists with fucked up powers and are sending them against the VHs as giant demon things and as we fight through the temple (apparently with some Guardians) we realize the final one is Troy and/or Tyreen?

I like to imagine this is where Maya gets her powers stolen, if only because the next few songs... I think she’s around because she’s now the only person with Siren powers on the side of the Crimson Raiders, so they might need her help with the Vault in some way

“RAMPAGE” by GRAVEDGR

y’all wonder why I seemingly forgot about Krieg in the above songs? Well, this is why. 

The only lyric for this entire song is “Bitch, I'm on a rampage- mask on my damn face”

I mean come on, Krieg with his psycho mask on, the fact his action skill is literally called “Buzz Axe Rampage”, the fact he loves Maya as shown in his introductory trailer... it’d be so perfect. And I bet badass psycho Krieg would be the only thing able to beat back whatever’s attacking at the moment. I’m just imagining him smashing down a wall and going apeshit

Another song I think is about Krieg and Maya. I don’t think Maya does too hot in this game, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if she gets the Roland treatment if you know what I’m saying. I wonder if this causes Krieg to devolve back into insanity cause the whole song seems to focus around that. I hope not D:

I think the twins (or whoever may have become the main villain- perhaps the Eridians?) have claimed victory/gotten the ultimate power in one way or another, and/or this is the Crimson Raiders getting themselves ready for a final stand-off with the big bad evil guy. 

I would really love if there’s a scene right at the end of this where the Twins have their huge “BOW TO ME” moment and then they just get COMPLETELY obliterated by a new villain. Just absolutely decimated.

New villain, like if they opened a Vault and whatever was being imprisoned there just wipes the floor with them (something like the Destroyer, if not the Destroyer itself), or fuck shit maybe even Tannis? or the Eridians looking for help in the war. or the Eridians bringing war. Who knows!

Again, could just be the Twins having gotten their hands on the end-game material, like realizing they can turn troy into big demon fuck (no i am not letting this one go) and we are kinda fucked now.

maybe Krieg getting rescued, maybe (one of?) the twins getting recruited by the Raiders for the final fight? It could fit into the ‘Beast’ imagery. Fuck, maybe even rescuing/finding Typhon or something? Idk, im kinda in the party that Typhon is going to be coming back some way or another lol, I’d love to meet the guy

This definitely sounds like a new BBEG has just been introduced or the big bads just entered the final phase of their plan, like the Crimson Raiders just learned about something life-changing and this is their “oh shit” moment

i wanna believe that the Eridians or another alien race (like the Seraphs!) are going to come in at the ‘end’ of the game and the Watcher is gonna be like “bitch did you really think I thought these dumbass ECHOnet streamers were the epitome of War??” I imagine we’d be on the side of the Eridians here, since y’know, the Watcher came to us for help.

Of course, the twins could still be the BBEG and have gotten their hands on that universe-destroying power that was described on the website (”to recover a map to ancient Vaults and prevent a universe-destroying power from falling into the wrong hands”) so maybe the Eridians called us in in order to meet and get help against the COV?

Wouldn’t even be surprised if someone made a sacrifice so we could get there... I imagine its hidden somewhere in the alternate dimension or wherever the Vaults lead to so it couldn’t be found, so maybe Lilith’s got her powers back at this point and she sacrifices herself to send us there?

ah yes, another reason I think the end of the game involves the Eridian homeworld in some way. Have you heard this?? huge “we just stumbled upon a long-lost-alien-planet” vibe. I love it. Maybe even just a shot of Sanctuary III slowly gliding over the giant planet, having just exited phasewalk. God yes

“Battle Royale” by Apashe

another reason i think the final fight is some giant battlefield/wave fight instead of just against 1 or 2 enemies. not to mention the fact that the VH skills we’ve seen so far are crowd control based instead of raid boss focused. 

Its likely the VHs against the Cult of the Vault, but if we defeat the Twins halfway through the game, then the Cult will dissolve on its own. Either way, I really really really really really want a huge fight against an army. I don’t care if its against the Children of the Vault, the Eridians/some Guardians, or if its against the Seraphs or a new set of aliens we’re gonna get (maybe whatever the Destroyer was/is?). idk idc i just want a huge battle. I imagine we’re on the Eridians’ side, as I said above, but who knows, maybe the Watcher went rogue.

could be the reason the Eridians are coming out of hiding after all this time. Either to stop our dumb human asses from opening the Vaults, or to get help against these alien fucks because our dumb human asses keep destroying their first line of defense- the Vault Monsters.

If the twins actually DO remain the main villains throughout the whole game, then I imagine this is them prepping to destroy the universe

absolutely. esp bc im still new to writing but ive been making art for all my life so im very into visuals and ive done so much schooling about thinking about visuals. even just reblogging and tagging things its like curating a lil gallery on ur blog. my best friend is often getting inspo before we work on threads or plotting so we have lots of ideas and lil visuals to mix in between us

and then with things like how you present your writing i believe it absolutely can be as well. esp bc this is a hobby and ur not getting graded nor submitting anything for publishing people should feel more chill about just experimenting. ( sometimes having a polished set of icons and text style might be the most inspiring canvas / starting place for someone so maybe they dont need to experiment anymore with them anymore and thats grand too )

im really about people feeling out what they like. theres always been trends in the art world or storytelling world so im not surprised people have icon and edit trends too. even if something isnt what you like that doesnt mean you cant like that other ppl like it c:

cats. playing games with my best friend. funny moments between friends in games ( hilarious glitches or ic nonsense ) and i know a rly happy baby who always has a big smile and lil chubby hands ready to clap whenever she sees me

rpwise… joking about muses n threads ooc w others. comparing muses to animals. i like to draw silly things too when i have time hehehe

oh and seeing other ppls pets!!! animals are good!!!!!!

ah i couldnt answer this before but i remember when i started it seemed like there were more mean ppl? idk if its that being an asshole is less acceptable or if ive just done such a good job of following nice people but my dash is usu full of supportive and understanding writers c:

oh rhythm a lot! sometimes when im writing i get the beat of a sentence in my head long before i get the words ( usually for the start of starters if it happens? ) and i just throw in words to fit it and figure out how to make them make sense later

but i often read my own stuff out loud to see if its about where i want it to be and sometimes ill read my partners reply out loud to shake my own words from my head or to get a better feel for what were writing together. some characters are just made of melody and i like to read their dialogue again and again and just feel the music of them hehe

Final thoughts: amazing album AS USUAL!! the boys always aren’t afraid of exploring new genres and creating new sounds which i seriously lovelovelove. ive never been disappointed with an album from them, can yall spell TALENT?? the skill, the vocals, the raps, the visuals, the EVERYTHING is just perfect, outstanding, completely and utterly amazing. ill never get tired of these bois, they make me so happy and god im just so blessed to be born and living during the same time as them. i cant believe theyre back, im so excited and hope they will be able to come to my state for a concert bc im ready to spend top dollar to see them up close! i cant wait for what’s to come; no matter what they put out, ill forever support and love them wit all my goddamn heart! c:
