I have such a love hate relationship with 4kota. Like I genuinely can't go look in the nanatsu no taizai tag cause there's gonna be some 4kota shit. I hate it so much but at the same time I don't. I'm happy I get more content from my favorite series, and I get to see my beloved characters more, like Gowther, Ban and Meliodas (I don't get to see Merlin though cause who knows where she is 😭🙏) and I also really like the new characters too, like Nasiens and Tristan. BUT I get also fucking sad everytime I see anything about it, cause I was so hoping for the sins at the end of the manga to be like a happy family. Maybe not raise their kids together but still be a little bit more connected. And also living happily ever after, like I don't want another plot okay I want to see the sins with their kids live a happy life. Also don't even get me started on Merlin, like why did Nakaba have to do that. Like plz, if she dies or something I'm actually bawling my eyes out and burning the copy of 4kota like bro. Also side note, THE WEIRD SHIT IN 4KOTA. How did it get worse??? Like how did it get more fucked up than it already was.

I probably won't be posting thoughts for EVERY chapter... but it is fun, so i'll do as many as I can. especially since people seemed to like it when i posted my thoughts about GoE pt. 2 .

The 4KOTA anime art style is actually really accurate to the manga. To the point they’ve even changed aspects of character designs present in every other iteration of the anime, which were different from the manga, to be more manga accurate. Like Howzer always having purple eyes in the anime but yellow eyes in the manga. As someone who got into and fell in love with the series through the anime it’s admittedly a bit jarring at times. But at the same time as a manga reader it’s really cool to see the studio pay so much attention to detail (Also btw Lance’s hair is just different because it’s been a couple years and he’s grown it out more. Not much more to it).

Meanwhile, GoE is more faithful to the SDS anime’s art style(s) which isn’t as accurate to the manga’s modern day art style (even when it was at its best in S1-S2 with A1 Pictures). It was technically fairly accurate to the early SDS manga art style (though I’d argue an upgraded or at least personally more preferred version of it) but Nakaba Suzuki’s art has changed and in a lot of ways improved so drastically over the last decade and a bit the series has been going that the original art style of the anime, while very cool and the most recognisable (and I think still my favourite) became far less accurate over time

I definitely recommend checking out the original series sometime if you’re enjoying the sequel! Definitely well worth the watch/read (iffy animation in S3 aside). It’ll def give an extra layer of understanding and emotional attachment to certain events and characters in 4KOTA.

There’s also this manga oneshot that came out between the SDS manga ending and the 4KOTA manga starting (so is not intended to be a spoiler for anything the 4KOTA anime is yet to show) about Lancelot, that was the first in-person introduction to the character we ever got. It takes place when Lancelot is 10, very shortly after the end of the final chapter/episode of SDS and (specifically in context to what you’ve seen) the day Tristan and Lancelot have that accident while sparring with each other that GoE opens up with. The original anime nor GoE ever adapted or showed it in any way which I think is really unfortunate for anime only fans. Especially since Lancelot’s reveal was already much more obvious in the anime, between GoE and the extra scenes they added. It really built up the hype and mystery for the upcoming sequel at the time (and presented a lot of questions and plot threads that still go unanswered to this day in the manga). The 4KOTA anime MIGHT adapt it at some point in the future but there’s no guarantee. So anywho, I’d definitely recommend going and reading it (either now or after S1 of the anime ends) as it’ll provide A LOT of extra context for both GoE and 4KOTA (and really Lance’s character in general) if you’re interested in that, even without knowing much about the original series. It’s called “The Rain Forest Invites the Beginning” (or chapter 346.5 of SDS)

Not me watching GoE again for the actual third time. Partly because I’m out of 4kota episodes to entertain me and the other half is because I want to see more of the boys (Tristan and Lance) and the other half is I want to see if I understand things a little bit more now that I’m a little more acquainted with the world/the characters.

Anyway, I don’t know everything entirely but a few things did clear up. I don’t know how much mind reading Lance could do but he’s able to read Deathpierce’s mind and that’s how he figured out his magic ability. I had thought before that he was just very observant and smart but this is just as OP, if not worse. Lance getting a message to (look towards the castle), was I’m assuming, Jericho kinda screaming in her mind to send a message because she knows he can read minds. 

I think the part where Tristan hesitates to tell Lance why he stormed head in to find the person that cursed his mom is supposed to just be how easy Lance can read Tristan without even having to read his mind. Tristan is a very simple character at this age, and I’m glad he’s matured by the time we see him again in 4kota. I wonder if it has to do with how he doesn’t have to hold back anymore because he can trust Lance. This really was Tristan’s Naruto phase and thank god we have Shippuden Tristan in 4kota.

Gowther mentions he needs friends like how Meliodas has the sins so I’m assuming that’s why Tristan has his own platoon squad. It’s probably just that, but the fact that Lance is the first person he can trust with his powers, with himself, has to mean something special. Imagine I actually only cared about those two and GoE didn’t exist, like, how hungry would I have been. GoE is such a feast.

I still don’t know what King Authur’s deal is. I don’t know how much of a presence he had in the 7Ds, but I’m assuming Lance is just going around smashing the staves that Authur keeps giving people. And Lance has his own agenda, but I still don’t know what that is.

The knight with the star helm is, obviously, Jericho. I’m assuming she’s one of Ban’s people and she’s kind of just babysitting Lance, but she’s not around in 4kota? Is that why Lance is looking for her?

It’s also a little weird to see Lance with a lance/spear now since he mostly sticks with the bow and arrows in 4kota, and even the majority of the first half of GoE. (Well, given he was in his fairy form.) Also we get to see Shining Road but his lance doesn’t break afterwards. I can only assume it’s because its not as strong as when he would use it against the villains in 4kota (where he’s trying to kill them, but he’s not trying to kill Tris) and/or his power level isn’t up to where he is in 4kota. I think it would have been cool to see the lance break in GoE and that’s why we don’t see him using it in 4kota. And so far he’s only been using Knives with Shining Road, so iunno.

Also about his fairy form in GoE, I wonder if his transforming powers weren’t as good, because his disguise could have looked a little less like him. (The red hoodie, the arrow armband, his swept hair.) I mean, because Sin is a total creature and gives nothing away aside from his favored red color. That or the design was intentional and made so the audience can assume he was Lance.

Anyway, things like this might probably be obvious to the people who actually watched the OG 7DS or read 4kota, but this is me going in completely blind and not even doing my homework. 

I like, forget that Sawano did the music for 7DS until what I’m assuming the theme for the Sins came up during that scene. The music in 4Kota was done by Kohta Yamato anyway, and I’m not familiar with it, so nothing to note.

Not sure if I “prefer” the GoE graphics because it’s literally my first experience with 7DS or because I prefer the character designs in it (GoE Trist design is peak to me), but I’m not as in love with the designs in 4kota. Or maybe it’s just the anime doing a really bad job (making Lance look like a Super Saiyan) at translating certain scenes while GoE has the same models and is “consistant”.

It was obvious that Dolores was the original one of NNT, and that she was taking care of Nasiens like a little brother. I'm glad I was right on this part. 

Sadly, the identity of the real child of King and Diane is still unknown. The theory about Nasiens as possible candidate is almost gone now after this chapter:  Nasiens is a human abandoned in the valley when he was just a baby, and a pharmacist who lived there adopted and raised him as his grandchild.  So, we will have to wait more months or years to see the real Kiane’s child. Anyway, I like Nasiens a lot, I hope he becomes a main character and joins Percival's group.

Well, about Kiane’s child, we return again to the starting point: knowing absolutely nothing about the child. Not even a tiny hint in an arc within a territory of giants/fairies, a boy that looked like them and with the return of Dolores in the story 🤷‍♀️ We cannot blame the fandom for theorizing in this case since it has been Nakaba himself who has fooled us giving all this information and knowing that the identity of Kiane's child was a pending issue on NNT for the sequel. On late 2018, Nakaba said on an interview “Well, to know how King and Diane’s children would look like, you have to wait a little longer for that”. My question is: How much time is “little longer” for Nakaba? 5 years? Maybe 10? And why so much long-term secrecy about it? Why not revealing some info at the end of NNT just like he did with the other kids? It was hinted a lot of times the three main couples would end having children, and they did, but yet only Kiane’s one is still a total mistery, even after a year since NNT ended. When King said “Tristan is not as cute as our own kid” on ch 346, he could have at least revealed the gender there... 

I already said it on several occasions: If nowadays I read 4KOTA it is only to make time while the anime continues and while we wait for the new movie. But if after the premiere of the film (and after getting its spoilers) we still do not know the name, nor the genre, nor a single clue of how that child looks like, I will drop the sequel until it is revealed some information and someone let me know about it. After all, their child is the only pending issue that I have left in NNT, along with Kiane's wedding that at least I know that I will be able to see that soon (with 10 previous months losing hope and starting thinking I would never see their wedding). 

BUT I am not going to wait another year in vain again, that’s for sure. Mainly because I am not able to handle it anymore. For my own sake, I definitely prefer leaving the 4KOTA/NNT fandom indefinitely after the movie is released.

percival is me when i see theatre shows. honestly everything about the way he acts would be just fine if he was, like 10. It would even be an interesting plot point for him to be unable to contain the power i know he has because hes so young
