Best: I don't know that I really have a favourite. I like most of them, although I think I have a love/hate relationship with Perennial Pleasures. XD Worst: Any of the ____ Me ~ Ship, titles. I went lame and just use the prompt for those.

Best/worst first line?

Best: The first thing Max noticed about Henry, when he opened the door, was that his little brother had finally given up on pretending he wasn't going bald. (From Drawn in Dragon's Blood) Worst: Four days. (From Call Me ~ EdRoy)

Best/worst last line?

Best: Somewhere off to his right, Edward could just make out the sound of a little girl shouting in delight, and he grinned into the wind, breathing in the taste of freedom. (From Dragon's Gold) Worst: Their path back ended up taking them through a brightly lit Christmas market, and it cheered him up a bit. Perhaps, he realised, he could still turn the evening around by getting Victor his birthday present. (From Nuts; it just feels so unfinished, ugh.)

Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?

I mean, I so DID NOT expect that many fics. But, comparing to past years when I jumped into a new fandom, this is actually pretty normal for me. This year (2017) is likely to be a lot saner, judging by past experience.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?

Ed/Slave 23. Also AlLing. Both were kind of requests that grew minds of their owns, but neither of those ships were on my radar even a little before my muse made a grab for them. So. LOL

What’s your favourite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.

I'm gonna cheat a bit, actually, and pick two: Skin Deep and Colours in Your Eyes. Colours in Your Eyes was actually a lot of fun to write, despite it being a really stressful time for me irl; I got to play in a trope I'd never really done before, and I had to do a lot of research for the Xing stuff, but I like learning new stuff like that, so that was cool. I also had a lot of fun working with my artists, passing back and forth ideas, which just made it more awesome after I'd finished. It's also one of the more polished pieces I posted, because I had time to reread it multiple times before posting, which makes me feel a lot better about it. Skin Deep was probably the fic I stressed out about the most, because it was dealing with a world I'm only passingly familiar with, and the last time I tried writing a trans character, it bombed. But people really seem to like it, and I've got a lot of really grateful responses to it, so I love it a lot for that, for being something awesome for the people who needed trans!Ed, and for giving me a second chance to understand that segment of my community a little better.

Okay, NOW your most popular story.

Reverti. Holy SHIT. I mean, before it even finished it was topping the popularity lists on AO3 for the FMA fandom, and I think it's happy to stay there. LOL (It's not quite as epic on FFN, but it's still on the first page for most favourites and follows, which is pretty impressive, given it's almost 2 years newer than anything else. ^^; )

Story most underappreciated by the universe?

I mean, lol, the most recent stuff has the fewest kudos and comments and such, which is to be expected. Anything rarepair or gen is always going to get less attention than a big ship. I am a little surprised to see my Hyuuroi pieces so far down on my list, but I guess that really is a smaller corner of the fandom than I was thinking.

Story that could have been better?

I wish I'd had the time to actually END Nuts, but I didn't, and I didn't really want to rewrite the ring scene, but there had to be a better way to end it, ugh. Also, In the Middle could use a serious dose of being fleshed out; it's really just a summary of a fic, I think, but I don't know that I'll ever have the energy to write it properly.

Story with single sweetest moment?

Sweetest? Shit. Uh, I mean, probably Skin Deep or Reverti? They both had some pretty dark points, yeah, but when they went fluffy, they were serious about it. XD

Hardest story to write?

Spirit's Fall, probably? I was so excited about my original idea, but those last couple of chapters, especially, just dragged. Also, the song rewrites, a bit, because rhyming is just not part of my skill-set.

Easiest/most fun story to write?

Colours in Your Eyes was probably the easiest, because once I hit my stride, it went until the end. The Chimera-Dragons 'Verse, though, especially Gold and Tongue, those were both a lot of fun to write.

Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?

I mean, this was actually 2015, but working on the Our Sinner's Redemption series, I grew to really love Darius and Heinkel. They have such minor parts in canon, but I ended up super loving them, especially Darius.

Most overdue story?

The second part of Our Sinner's Redemption? ^^; Which I didn't get much work done on for NaNo, so people should not look for it any time the beginning of this year. Published, though: I'll Follow the Echoes was written for the Fandom Challenge and I didn't even start on it until almost a month after the due date, whoops. ^^;

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?

Skin Deep, definitely. (See above for more on that.)

What are your fic writing goals for next year?

Not to run myself quite so ragged over the summer, lol. I almost threw in the towel a couple of times, I was so stressed out, so we're not going to do that again. I can pick, like, two fandom events, maybe three. And if they're ship weeks, I need to not try to do a fic for each day, that was a bad idea. ^^; That said, I'd like to do an event or two again, because they're a lot of fun, and they're a nice little reason to let my muse at prompts that I would otherwise do my best to keep him FAR away from. XD I also want to finish We All Need Saving (OSR 2) in time to start posting it before the end of the year, maybe even work on the third part of the series, Dancing With the Devil, for NaNo. I'd also kind of like to do fics to slip into holiday cards again next year, because that was a lot of fun this year. (Might end up just using the stats of who picked which fics from 2016 for what to write for 2017, though, instead of doing a poll. Although, if I announce a poll when putting up 2016's fics next month-ish, I might get a better response; it was posting the Harrymort fic that got most of the HP people's interest. LOL)

🔪 - what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

Hypnosis, all the way back in 2020. Only, I couldn't be satisfied with just basic research, cuz my project was pretty ambitious (it reached ~120k, tho I never published it lmao), so I took it a step further and decided to take advantage of my needing a college elective for the semester. And basically took a psychology class. As research. For my fanfic.

I was, uh. Pretty dedicated. The fic fell through, but the class was super informative and fun! I even kept my notes for it :D

OKAY, THIS ONE'S A BREEZE. BEHOLD HERE AND WEEP BITCHES.

Not even exaggerating how this art changed my ENTIRE brain chemistry. The art style. The shading. The EXPRESSIONS? THE CLEAR DEVASTATION ON ED'S FACE AS HE TRIES TO COMFORT LING. This art single-handedly inspired most of ch3 of Crown, particularly the hug and how I wanted edling to have a moment exactly like that from it.

It's just. So fucking beautiful. God.

🍄 - share a head canon for one of your favorite ships or pairings.

WELL, SINCE YOU ASKED. I've mentioned before how I don't think edling are the type to get pettily jealous, HOWEVER. Edgreed is a different story. Greed is—well, Greed. He absolutely hates being ignored by Ed, and ESPECIALLY hates it when Ed ignores him AND gives others attention instead (my beta called it pigtail pulling and she's so right). Once they find their footing together, I imagine Greed is very touchy and basically takes every chance to have a hand on Ed. Tho that never stops him from eagerly showing off Ed as HIS possession.

(He literally just brags about Ed. A lot. He likes seeing other people be jealous of HIM for having Ed.)

Edgreed is just so delicious in that Ed's suddenly the sunshine in this dynamic (to a degree) and Greed is the grumpy lmao. It's brilliant.

🤡 - what's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?

Ooooooh, excellent question! I do fancy myself a little funny in my banter, ehehe, and yeah I'm a loser that laughs at my own jokes sometimes. There's this moment in particular from another wip of mine (brownie points to anyone who can guess what it is. Hint: it's a revamp) that really gave me a kick:

“So glad that’s settled!” Ed yelped. “I’ll be going now!” “Oh, no, don’t rush on our accou—” “FUCK OFF AND DIE SINGLE!” Ed should’ve kept his mouth shut. While Mustang spluttered with satisfying indignation, Darius and Heinkel howled with laughter in mortifying tandem with everyone else, and Teacher made a horrible, horrible noise of understanding that had Ed’s feet stumbling before he picked them up to speed-walk faster than he ever had in his entire life.

🎶 - do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?

Oh, yeah, absolutely. Music while writing is a MUST on most days; I do get the rare case of being overly distracted by the music and thus writing in silence. As for what I've had on loop—Pricey by Kam Prada, oh my god. The song is SO painfully edgreed-coded (and greed overall), it was on the SPOT. I heard it ONCE and was obsessed. My Solaris playlists can't handle anymore additions, plz. (They can. If anyone has recs absolutely send them my way.)

❌ - what's a trope you will never write?

Omegaverse. Fucking OMEGAVERSE. Extremely sorry to my followers that enjoy it but I absolutely despise everything about this trope. From the social dynamics to the heats to how there never seems to be any nuance to them—all of it pisses me off to read. It's the first tag to get yeeted whenever I scroll through ao3. Again, super sorry to the enjoyers, but it's just not for me. It's really not.
