#dont have the energy to write a real response to this rn#but 1. the great mosque of djenne is so sick everyone should watch that one doc they made on it#2. biomimicry is def the future#3. i actually was at boston gov center about an hour ago and i already knew all about the relandscaping by sasaki#but it’s so sick in person i had a real feeling of ecofuturism wash over me#and also ornamentation and traditional (european) motifs have been in vogue since postmodernism at least for nonskyscrapers#i think the current fashion for skyscraper/city construction is like#kinda zaha very OMA#emphasis on unique formal gestures moreso than ornament#i think instead of traditional ornament theres a lot of emphasis on patterning and texture rn which i like!#it’s contemporary and dovetails nicely with biomimicry and kinetic facades and stuff#also i think the key to bringing back traditional ornamentation in a way that will age better than most pomo or casinos#is to care a lot about proportions#anyway thats all i have to say rn
