Top 7 Comfort Movies

I was tagged by @nilo2207​ and I like talking about films, SO!

Fair warning, this is 100% Star Trek free, because I’m not a huge fan of Star Trek movies to the point that I haven’t even watched a chunk of them. (Star Trek is my comfort TV, though.) Also fair warning, I’m comforted by odd things, I guess.

In no particularly order. Except the first one, which is definitely my favorite comfort movie.

Seven Samurai

Um, Kikuchiyo is one of my favorite characters of all time, and his little friendship with Heihachi that was cut so short is so important to me. Like, I get that it’s some cinematic masterpiece or whatever, and I love it for all that kind of stuff too, but I’m mostly just emotionally attached to these characters. Also, it’s three hours long, so when I need a big chunk of time to not think about my issues, this helps me a lot.

Vevet Goldmine

Well, y’know. I was a  small queer child in a small Texas town when I first saw this and my whole life changed. Also i just love it. I love it. It’s kind of trash and problematic but I love it. The soundtrack also is a comforting thing.

Look, I know this movie is not... that comforting for most people probably. But the animation is so gorgeous! And I watched it about a thousand times as a child, so I don’t know what to tell you except this isn’t even the only thing with body horror on this list.

Less Than Zero

Um, this movie is Not Good and the author of the book is a DICK, but I can’t help it. The 80′s colors, the melodrama, the young Robert Downey Jr. and James Spader... The heart wants what it wants, even if it makes me a bad queer and a bad socialist.

Tuff Turf

Speaking of REALLY AWFUL MOVIES with RDJ and Spader, here’s a movie that is literally the stupidest ever, but I enjoy every second of it. It’s so bad. So stupid. So amazing.

Evil Dead (1981)

Here’s my other “comfort movie” with body horror. I don’t know what to tell you. Evil Dead was a little scary and a lot funny, but not trying as hard to be funny as the sequels, so for me it is perfect. Also Bruce Campbell is best.

Every Star Wars Movie

I’m so sorry for doing this on my Star Trek blog, but Star Wars is the only thing I love like I love Star Trek... I will enjoy it regardless of how bad it is. But Star Wars films are more enjoyable than Star Trek films for me. But Star Trek shows are better than anything from Star Wars? Yeah. I just love both so much I’m sorry.
