hello. below is me rambling about my new au - the ancient city one - and what i have down for it all right now. its just me rambling, and i tend to talk like im actually TELLING people about my ideas? like im sitting across from someone explaining it, and i try to imagine im speaking to someone who knows nothing about the sanses to try and like, GRIP the characters right, yknow? so yeah - lol

uh gore warning ig? its only descriptions for now, but i WILL be drawing them at some point!

oh yeah its bsp too lol

Story starts with Cross, who was disowned by his father after the death of his brother, which happened slightly after a very large argument between Cross and said brother. this is set in an old-ish setting. not quite modern day, not quite old timey. more fantasy set time - anyway yeah, Cross gets kicked out and shamed . oh hes human too here, you'll see later-

Cross is supposed to read as slightly unlikable, not fully, but with enough character flaws to balance out his good traits. Hes cold, very ambitious, but quite selfish too. he finds it hard to put himself in others shoes, and is focused, at first, in his own self interest. at the same time, he can be incredibly sweet, and self sacrificing when he wants to be. a hero truly. hes adaptable, and strong willed, even if he can sometimes break down in an anxious mess.

Cus Cross has been disowned, he decides to set out on his own path, alone, with not much on his other than his own survival skills - as all men from his town are trained for war and go through mandatory service, as he decides to treck and explore the world, figuring maybe, if he was luckily, he'd find a NEW home and family..

Eventually, one night, Cross is attacked by wolved while out setting up camp for the night. they destroy everything he'd worked for, and would him near fatally,

One of the wolves got a bit to his head, biting right into his right eye, leaving an awful bite mark over it that forces his eye shut forever. he isnt TECNICALLY blind, but he cant really open it without massive pain, ( it will eventually get infected and need to be removed. but thats WAYY in the future.)

Cross in his mad bid for safety, managed to scale a slight cliff edge, and find a very tight cave on a said cliff edge, managing to climb up over this ledge covered in lichen and algae, and sneaking into the gap that the wolves cannot reach. unfortunately, Cross wasnt expecting the drop.

When Cross wakes up, hes in what can only be described as the ruins of an old settlement, a… city? he thinks? the stone buildings are all destroyed, looking like a bomb has gone off through it, the stone in rubble, but miraculously, there are these glowing blue lanterns handing off posts that make up bridges connecting the little 'islands' of rubble to another in a pattern, those lanterns dim, but glowing faintly enough he can see his way… hes lying in a small pond, or a well or somthing, glowing blue algae covering the water, and HIM by extension, the water cold and soaking him to the bone.

What the hell happened here?

its as Cross is trying to right himself and fugure out where the HELL he is that he sees three figure in the distance...

They move, they walk, but theyre… theyre skeletons...

.... mostly. a couple of them look like they have a LITTLE flesh covering them, but its all mouldy and rotten. theres three of them, and all of them are dressed in dark robes, and covered in that ALGAE-lichen stuff, all that glowing cyan and black colour, spreading over their limbs like a plague. they seem all slightly confused on Cross entering their domain, the shortest one looks at his suspiciously under their cowl, and the tallest, with his awful head wound, pokes and prods at Cross and his broken body with fascination. the other one, with pitch black oozing eye sockets, seems FACINATED with him, excited even, theyre rubbing up against Cross like a cat and getting that black/cyan stuff all over him, Cross to scared and in pain to push it away from him

are they… inhabitants of the past settlement, maybe?

Turns out they can, mostly, speak english. they speak with an accent like no other, one Cross cant place, and use what Cross can only describe as odd and outdated words sometimes, but they seem to be able to understand him, at least. and they understand hes hurt, and needs help..

theyre kinda… well, theyre creepy as shit, no doubt bout it, but theyre not… TRYING to be? theyre curious and weird and a bit gross, but theyre almost CAT like? they purr, they nuzzle, they even fucking SNIFF him at first, and dunk his head under the water when they find his scent distressing. - thats Killer to note - they have fucking TAILS - he sees them when Goopy turns to chirp at his friends-

theyre in different states of decay… though the flesh they DO have is little, and covered by that lichen stuff holding it to their bones like stitches, theyre not ACTIVLY rotting anymore? nor do they really smell?

The smallest one seems to speak for them, not really out of any leadership, but because Goopy doesnt seem to really understand, and Head Wound seems to only make rumbling chirping noises - they ALL make those noises, but… Scarf seems to understand him best, even it they CLEARLY dont trust Cross…

they work for their Master, and lover, a Creature named Nightmare. a being made from that black/cyan stuff, and the one who destroyed this previous kingdom entirely, killing all residents

well all, bar three? are.. well, are they dead or..?

Killer mostly moves on all fours, close to the ground, almost like a spider. he CAN stand upright, but its painful for him, and hes quicker lower to the floor. Dust is the shortest and has these glowing red spots that act like pupils in his eyes, one of them corrupted by the cyan stuff. Horror has an actual EYEBALL still in his left socket - the side with the big wound - while the other is empty. Dust is the least 'decomposed' and still has slight bits of pale tinged-purple-blue skin held to his bones with the algae stuff, but he seems to try and hide it under his layers of clothes. both Killer and Horror have claws, while Dust has his filled down and softer, though still SHARP! Killer is much more intelligent than he appears.

all three of the skeletons used to be human! theyre of a different race to any Cross would know, and mostly lived in caves and hollowed out mountains - theyre usually small people - Horror being what the kingdom would call 'a giant', with a range of skin tones but most being a soft brown, and hair that stems from black to dark red and oranges - they mostly all have dark eyes better suited to dark environment, and good senses

Dust is the most 'intelligent' of the three, seemingly knowing an array of languages and seems to know how to heal. Killer has spikes and bone shards and teeth sticking from his clothes and has a dagger attached to his belt - maybe some kind of warrior? Horror carries a spear with him that he leans on as he walks. he seems to be able to walk fine without it, but uses it almost as a cane - maybe a pain condition over physically not being able to move? with the head wound.. well, does that even MATTER anymore?

Anyways, yeah, noot noot-

Nightmare used to be a spirit of protecting for the city, until a disagreement with his Other Half, quite literally, his twin brother Dream - two beings born of the same soul, which caused Nightmare to corrupt.

Nightmare doesnt show up until at LEAST halfway through the story!

this story will eventually conclude with Cross joining them, and them all falling in love, Cross getting the answers he wants about them, and getting his FAMILY that he desperately craves.

Context: My brain always leaves him out, so that's what happened. The rest of the poly felt like he wasn't getting enough affection and pinned him down.

Horror was being held down by all of them. Being on the bottom was quite an embarrassing experience, and he kept trying to squirm out of their grip. But unfortunately, it was impossible, despite his big body. Cross's thighs were holding his arms down, and Killer sat on his ankles and held him down as well. While the latter simply watched as Horror's thighs flexed and moved, obviously with a wide smirk on his face as he softly caressed them, Cross was gently rubbing Horror's neck and kissing on his forehead. It made the big guy feel all sweaty and nervous, unable to move his head away, and only close his eyes to avoid further embarrassment.

It's Dust who was doing most of the work. His small hands roamed around his body, gently squeezing on his chest and his nails tracing on his abs. Just like he did with Cross, he kept reapplying his lipstick once in a while, giving Horror a break. But then he would go back to leaving possessive kisses on his chest and ribs, making Horror whine softly.

God, how embarrassing this is. How nerve wracking it truly is to be the one smothered and pampered with affection. Horror's heart was racing, his mind was a pink fog. He was a quiet one, yet Killer would unexpectedly squeeze his thighs or feet to get a reaction out of him. Only then would he let out a gasp, his face burning as bright as a cherry. He could hear all the sweet nothings Cross whispered into his ears as he kissed them, and it tingled like hell. His voice was so soft, just a little nervous. Horror and Cross are surely the most gentle partners out of the five. Well. Four, currently. He couldn't help but be a little tense from all these sensations and groaned softly as Dust resumed the rough, sensible kissing.

All the voices were muffled. He refused to even try to process anything they were saying. He slowly relaxed into all of it, his eye closed. Only for them to shoot open with a low shriek, as he felt sharp teeth bite through his thigh. He let out one of the loudest qnd most uncomfortable moans yet, and he could hear the others slightly scold Killer in worry and annoyance. Horror was in a way too deep of an affection-drunk state to even be mad. His head was spinning, but not in an aching way. He was lightheaded, as if floating up to the highest clouds, being a nice contrast to his usual sharp headaches.

He felt comforting lips on top of his own, and he slightly moved his head back in an attempt to kiss Cross back. Somehow, he still managed to be a little feisty, and he bit Cross on the lip, making the other choke in confusion. He let go of his lip and licked it, and that's when Horror's mouth was covered by a different pair of lips. He could feel the lipstick stamp off on his own lips, and he relaxed into it, his stomach flipping. Dust was much more confident and didn't let Horror get away with any attempts of dominance. He let his closed eye roll back in enjoyment.

His thigh was still sore from the bite, but he was soothed by Killer's tongue. He was licking the small amount of blood off his body, almost acting like a cat as he apologized through affection. If they keep this up for any longer, Horror might as well pass out.

Just as the thoughts entered his mind, the three partners stopped. Cross was mumbling with Killer, and Dust gently pet his head, rubbing through his hair.

"I think we broke him.."

"Don't be ridiculous, nobody can get worse than you," Killer couldn't hold back a tease at Cross's concerned reaction, and for that, he received a painful pinch from Dust. "Ow?? Hehe."

-Sleeps like a soldier

-He doesn't move an inch throughout the night

-Wakes up at the slightest unusual sound or touch

-Trying to wake him up in the morning is impossible

Nightmare :

-He barely ever sleeps at night, but when he does, he snores louder than Horror and Killer combined

-Mostly takes short, few minutes long, naps throughout the day while standing

-Has the softest, most comfiest bed in the whole castle despite being the one who sleeps the least??

-Will stay in bed with the others while they sleep

this is important for lore kinda bcs killer also bcs i like talking about my guys

its under cut bcs this turned out longer than i thought!!! i love them sm <3

Killers - Killers the best way i can describe it is like, bubbly in a way? Its always shifting and moving. you ever seen a video of liquid lava? thats how i imagine their magic. I think itd generally be warm, getting colder when their in a more 'murderous unfeeling' state and warmer the more emotional they are. Their magic is generally unstable, n they use it minimally,, primarily using their knives over summoning things since it tends to not go great. Their magic also has a sort of acidic property, mostly his tears/determination.

Dusts - Dusts is LOUD. that is the best way i can word it. it is bright and vibrant and it is so very LOUD. its extremely hot, and it leads to him overheating often because of it; considering how much magic he has too. its almost electrical like a lightning strike, and has a static like quality to it. and it can definitely burn through things- Generally manifests as a bright lilac colour, or a combination of red and teal. Dust magic is constantly noticeable, even from a distance most of the time, and has a sort of constant anger in it, that makes it feel like its bubbling water that could boil over any second.

Horrors - Compared to the others, horrors is very quiet and. duller due to longterm effects from his head injury and longterm starvation. generally she avoids using it as much as possible, and if he does *need* to use it it drains him very fast, so its a last resort. his magic is almost. the only way i can word it is like round? and generally is a very dark, almost brownish red colour. also due to her low magic, she gets cold much easier. Horrors magic is the least noticeable over all due to her low reserves, and is like a very dim light peeking through a door.

Crosses - Crosses is sharp like a blade. His magic was well trained and hes extremely good at controlling it. hes generally the most 'middle ground' out of them magic wise, being able to control it well but not having as much in reserves. his magic is generally slightly cold, just enough that its noticable. primarily using summoning magic instead of loose magic, and it generally manifests as a more pinkish purple

Nightmares - Nightmare, being a godlike being has interesting magic properties. She has an extremely large reserve of magic, but all of his magic is a sort of cold colder than ice, and can be extremely jaring to feel. Her entire body runs extremely cold due to this, though it doesnt bother her. The majority of the time the way he uses his magic is just through her tendrils. She also has some 'other' magic properties involving emotion and mind manipulation, due to his godlike status. Her aura is surprisingly subtle, and resembles a water-like white noise, constantly there but wouldnt generally be noticed unless allowed.

The Bulgarian Parliament has adopted changes to the Law on School and Pre-School Education, banning the promotion of ideas and views related to "non-traditional sexual orientation or determination of gender identity other than biological."

The debate lasted nearly four hours. In the first reading, out of 171 representatives, 154 voted "in favor," eight "against," and nine abstained. Seven deputies from "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) and one from GERB voted "against." After the first reading, the deputies proceeded to debates in the second reading, where WCC-DB did not support the bill, and their entire group voted "against."

The parliament adopted a definition stating: "Non-traditional sexual orientation is different from the generally accepted and embedded in the Bulgarian legal tradition concept of emotional, romantic, sexual or sensual attraction between persons of opposite sexes."

The bill's proponents, the pro-Russian party "Revival" (Vazrazhdane) led by Kostadin Kostadinov, argue that recent public propaganda normalizing non-traditional sexual orientation is unacceptable and contradicts the constitutional provision for marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman.

The bill's proponents claim that promoting socio-cultural models of non-traditional sexual orientation near schools does not align with Bulgarian legal tradition. During the parliamentary committee discussion, the Minister of Education and Science, Galin Tsokov, supported the bill's motives but found the proposed changes "vaguely worded and controversial," which could complicate implementation. Tsokov did not attend today's debates.

Reading This Week 2024 #30

This week took me to the very final page of the notebook I have been keeping my reading journal in since last October! which is very convenient, but also now i have to dig around my book shelf to find what half used notebook i want to convert toward this purpose. As a heads up I skimmed some articles this week I wont be including, but there will be a subsection in started/ongoing on books from the library that I've tested (lots of holds coming in at once) and whether I'll pick them up again or not

quick question, this log jumps between different genres pretty wildly [academic work on sexual violence to cute romance manga back to academic work on sexual violence]... would anyone prefer if i also sorted by genre/type? or are we cool with me mostly sticking to the timeline that i actually finished reading stuff? because my life and reading experience really does flip back and forth between these things

The Water Outlaws by S.L. Huang, audiobook read by Emily Woo Zeller this book was blurbed by Shelley Parker-Chan, author of She Who Became the Sun which I am obsessed with, so I picked The Water Outlaws up on a whim when I saw it at the library a few weeks ago. i ended up having an easier time starting the audiobook just because it fit well with my chores and errands after I returned from visiting family. if you like badass women and chinese-inspired historical and fantasy action, go check this out! I had a good time

"Toward Acknowledging the Ambiguities of Sex: Questioning Rape Culture and Consent-Based Approaches to Sexual Assault Prevention" by Tuulia Law, Ch.12 in Violence Interrupted: Confronting Sexual Violence on University Campuses a really loved reading this. it gives a good history of various feminist approaches to sexual violence, and says some things that have been on a mind in my research. love to have a place where i can justify and cite my opinions (btw, cause the title is ambiguous, its about acknowledging that Obtaining Consent(tm) does not always prevent sexual harm for various reasons, and consent-based approaches often individualize the broad social issues at play

Just Sex? The Cultural Scaffolding of Rape, Second Edition by Nicola Gavey maybe the best book I've yet read on rape culture, and specifically on the gendered aspects of all kinds of sexual violence (pressure, coercion, etc) and let me be specific that the praise I am heaping on it is specifically for the 2nd edition, which in a completely new chapter contextualizes the way the arguments of the 1st edition were written and limited by its time of publication, as well as eloquently expanding on some of the arguments which had at first given me pause with reliable qualitative research. this makes me want to go out and write a gender based analysis of sexual violence against and among trans people, like Gavey calls for in her acknowledgement that a lot of her argument relies upon presuming she's talking exclusively about cisgender subjects

Playing with the UT2K4 editor again, it’s interesting how much BSP-style level editing appeals to me. It’s so much easier to rapidly iterate on and tweak level design when you don’t have to futz with assets, and your prototyping options aren’t limited to “gray cube.” It’s a lot easier to get a good feel for what makes good level and environment design, both in terms of gameplay and aesthetics.

Probably there are good reasons FPS games have moved away from using BSP/constructive geometry, but when you’re just messing around by yourself it’s like Super Minecraft, and I love it.

UPIS holds first BSP & GSP investiture since pandemic

The University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) recently held its first investiture and camp since the pandemic, officially ushering in new members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP). The BSP held their investiture in the 3-6 Bulwagan on March 1, while the GSP had theirs in the 7-12 Gym on March 8.

Boy Scouts from Grades 3-6 and Senior Scouts from Grades 7-10, along with their club advisers, selected faculty, and former Senior Scouts, organized the BSP investiture and camp. The investiture ceremony included the acceptance of the new members of the BSP, oath-taking, and the Paglagay ng Alampay where the scouting neckerchief is worn to symbolize their official recognition as Boy Scouts. A message was also delivered by the second-in-command of the Quezon City BSP Council, Asst. Chief Scout Executive Amado Dela Cruz. After the investiture, a bonfire was also done.

According to Mr. Joseph Guiao, adviser of the Senior Scouts, adjustments were made in the scouts’ schedule due to the pandemic, and the investiture was pushed back to the second semester as the organization needed to familiarize itself first with the procedures and preparations necessary for their activities.

“Due to the pandemic, the Phoenix in UPIS didn't have a proper “passing of the torch”.. We, current Phoenixes were lucky we got to go to the World Scout Jamboree in Korea to make up for our lack of experience. In relation to that, we didn't really have much experience in planning an event such as the investiture, but the investiture was still a success thanks to kuya Raymond (former Senior Scout) guiding us through the formalities,” said Troy Dela Torre, one of the six leaders or Phoenixes of the club.

On the other hand, it is the first time the Junior and Senior Scouts of GSP held a joint investiture with the Star Scouts from Grade 3. This was due to the PUV transport strike last December 2023 which delayed the original date of both the Star and Senior Scouts’ investiture, moving it to March this year.

The GSP investiture program was organized by the advisers and co-advisers of the Star, Junior, and Senior Scouts. The program was executed as follows: recitation of the Law and Promise of the Star Scouts, appointment of the new Junior and Senior GSP, including the Cadets and Troop leaders, followed by the donning of pins and the alampay by the Troop Leaders and parents, respectively. After the investiture, a one-day camp was held. This included the Bravery Test (Senior Scouts only), Base Method, Flag Making and Presentation, Awarding Ceremony, and many more.

“Ngayon, naki-join din ang Grade 3 Star Scouts na may ibang program; parang iba yung flow nila. So ang challenge ay paano i-integrate yung dalawang program na ‘yon para maging isa lang at walang mawawalang importanteng mga parts ng flow ng program,” stated the adviser of the GSP, Asst. Prof. Portia Dimabuyu, on the challenges in the change of the program due the joint investiture.

“We had 2-3 days of practice in the gym. Since we didn't have enough time to practice and plan, the Star Scouts were included in the investiture of the Senior Scouts so the flow of the program was longer and kind of messy,” added Corinne Juliette Hernandez, the head Cadet.

Prior to the pandemic, participation in the GSP was not mandatory for Grades 11 and 12 as clubs were typically limited up to Grade 10. However, there arose a necessity for experienced Senior Cadets to assist and guide the newly enrolled Scouts and Cadets.

Both the BSP and GSP investiture and camp required careful preparation, from arranging the venue and getting the necessary camping permits. Prior to the event, the Scouts were registered with the Quezon City Council. Briefings and practices were also conducted to ensure the smooth flow of the program.

The pandemic greatly impacted the BSP and GSP, resulting in a lack of experience among members and leader scouts. Nonetheless, the investiture and camp were still a success, thanks to the guidance of advisers and former Senior Scouts who made sure to help the new Scouts become official members of the UPIS BSP and GSP.
