It's past midnight forgive me for this.

I saw this Twilight tiktok recently joking about how when vampires kiss it sounds like porcelain clinking together because idk their weird skin is like porcelain.

And now I can't help but think of Emily and Caius... making clinking sound effects 😭💀

A horrible image that you're unfortunately correct about. Apparently vampire skin is just like... super strong porcelain, that's why it cracks the way it does:

The novella "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" goes into it in a bit more detail since Bree is incredibly blunt about the exact nature of newborn vampirism, noting how two of her companions make clinking sounds when they kiss.

But in general this is one of those bits of canon that, for the most part, the fandom largely selectively ignores or outright disregards. The skin can be super resistant and strong, but maaaaaybe vampires banging shouldn't sound like... banging.

Although maybe in Necrosis that's how Caius and Emily got found in the act so often. Everyone could hear the clinking and decided that's the appropriate time to bother them. 🤷‍♀️
