modern prog bands who synthesize mellotron sounds in live performances are cowards. yes the mellotrons people mostly used in the 70s take up a ton of space. yes theyre hard to keep in tune. yes theyre only used in certain parts of certain songs and serve no purpose otherwise. yes they can be synthesized just fine. but wheres the authenticity, wheres the soul. ill tell you where the soul is. the soul is in the mellotron. its in there
