Helppppp I looked up cute things to call your partner in Polish for fic reasons and now I am once again overcome by the desire to learn the language
#something about it is just so right!!!!#granted that could just be me projecting but.#my mom's family is very german and very polish. genetically she herself is like 75% polish#tho she thought she was 75% german and only a little polish#idk i know genetics don't equal culture or anything but. i would love to have some kind of link back to my ancestors#yanno?#i wish i knew more about my mom's family. i know her grandma came here from germany as a stowaway#but i don't know anything abt her dad's side. which i suspect is the side that was much more polish#on account of being here longer and the fact that this region was practically built by polish ppl#whereas middle south michigan was built by dutch immigrants i think#there's literally a city down there called holland and also a lot of dutch festivals held in the region#which is pretty cool#but idk. i wish alpena retained more of its polish history than just paczkis and paczki vodka and surnames ending in ski#or maybe it's just 2am and i'm feeling more lost without my family than usual fjskdjskjd
