WAKFU REDESIGN AND REWRITE SERIES PART 2

Okay I really should've started with Yugo but I just had so many ideas for Eva I had to let it out. (link to part 1 here)

And with Yugo, I have the exact opposite feelings, because... he's fine. He's the main character, he's a kid, he acts like a kid, he's very thoughtful and kind... I don't have any issues with his character.

But! Theres still ideas i have!

For example, I never quite liked the idea of Yugo being the Eliatrope king and yeah, I know hes a child but he never really... gave me leader vibes, yk? Tbh compared to Adamaï he severely lacks the assertive personality. After finding out that hes the last airbender Eliatrope, he doesnt even care for the culture much. Or like- at all? Hes mostly excited about his superpowers- AND THATS FINE, hes a literal child, but still... a supposed king.

So either make him more invested in his people (you could make a whole arc outta that! He gets hyperfixated on figuring his heritage out he forgets about the here and now - tho that really does sound more like Adamaï) OR make him state outloud that he already has a life and doesnt want to start another one! He likes his friends and adventures and doesnt need anything else... until he does. Make him grow and find parts of himself he didnt even know were missing. New values, a culture he can be a part of!

(Also AU where Yugo actually cant use his powers properly so they only inconvenience him (like accidentally teleporting his stuff) and he tries to stay away from his heritage as long as possible until Grougal is just forced to drag him out the house is so entertaining 2 me istg)

So im fine with the story Qilby has spun, where he and Shinonome are the leaders cause HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE?? And anyway, the Adventure duo finding out about Qilbys betrayal through random goofy shenanigans seems pretty in character lmao

I like Yugos design (except for the shoes, they absolutely haunt me) so I mostly just put my own spin on it rather than changing it radically. I briefly debated on giving him a tail or more dragon-like features but then I realized he lived a normal life before all this lol the village would PROLLY NOTICE

Tho it finally hit me that Eliatropes cleatly have deer features- like the little fur thingy at the end of the Eliatrope cap resembling a deer tail??? How did I not notice that??? But I think his s4 outfit resembles a bat way more so idk?

I gave him white freckles like the bambi spots and light blue "wakfu" spots on the back instead of the runes on his chest he has in the Qilby final boss fight. Also I couldnt decide which outfit I like more for s1-2 so which one do u guys like more?

I havent watched season 3-4 but I did a potential s3 Yugo look as well, I had fun :))

Absolutely, yes. More then elriel, im invested in Elain. Her powers to be even more specific. I feel as though her character has been teased quite a bit to us readers - I want to see if a few of my theories are correct and honestly - I love Elain the most and I’m invested in her story regardless of ships. Its why I have no interest in gwynriel. Im not into Azriel that id willingly read 800 pages about him flinting woman to woman and having toxic thoughts and whining about wanting a mate - as antis potray him and whilst I liked Gwyn - Not enough to read 800 pages about her training and becoming a better Valkry - I barely got through acosf with that plot & honestly majority of gwyns story is over. It would be repetitive and boring.

I love Lucien, and have no problem reading about him. I was an elucien stan before acosf (and after but eluciens became way too toxic) and even after acosf, and I honestly wasn’t that bothered. I knew elriel was endgame but also loved elucien so in the off chance they happened, I would have loved their book.

I will however say, that I won’t rlly enjoy elucien. Personally, I think making the opposite ships happen is a huge creative and marketing opportunity lost. The story would be repetitive and inconsistent ( if Mass wants it to follow her previous couples’ parallels) - I’d be interested to see her interviews after though, where she may talk about elriel/elucien. Id be intrigued as to why an author would spend 4 books romantically developing a complex, interesting relationship only to go with the mundane, “safe” route of making mates accept each other in the end bcs “nothing tops a mating bond.” Which lowkey can be a toxic message.

Regardless, the possibility of elucien happening is very teeny tiny but if it does - Will I read the book? Yeah. Will I enjoy it? Idk. Will I find it lacking in the romance department? Absolutely.

i actually feel like the lack of originality and the company relying on the popularity of fixed pairings to carry the stories was way more present in both of the two parts from GMMTV 2024 combined, but with the 2025 lineup what im personally seeing is more variety and the willingness to experiment with new genres, which is something that i can't help but be very happy about

there are still students and school settings, but they're trying to put a fresh spin on it by sprinkling some fantasy elements and religious guilt on top, and the majority of the characters we've seen are actually adults with countless different jobs: there are teachers, and detectives, and shop owners, and debt collectors, and scammers, and photographers, and doctors, and fortune tellers, and flight attendants, and emergency rescuers, and im probably forgetting some because there were SO. MANY. and not only that, but we also got toxic yaoi in theatre, toxic yuri in the industry, a love triangle that maybe if we pray hard enough can turn into a polycule, a master and a servant fighting each other in the ring, an amnesiac prince, and last but not least a mafia adjacent soap opera loving perfume maker (which let me tell you. that sure is a string of words i never thought i would be putting together. and y'all see me use words recreationally on the daily)

we can't really be certain of what GMMTV means with 'riding the wave', but after seeing this line up, the way im interpreting it is that they've started to understand that people are interested in queer shows with diverse storylines, and so they're finally willing to invest in them

now, don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean that our job here is done and that im fully satisfied. on the contrary. like do i think they overused the amnesia trope and the fortune telling plot? a little bit, yeah. do i wish they had have given us more GLs considering the insane amount of engagement they are pulling? YES GOD DAMN IT. do i believe that GMMTV, as a big ass consolidated company, should be setting the trends by being bolder and experiment more instead of just following along? absolutely. but we have to start somewhere, and to me this is what it is: the beginning, not the ending point, and i personally will never stop being vocal and advocating for better quality and unique plots

all this being said, i did see people being disappointed by the amount of fixed pairings we now have and expressing doubts over this 'darker', more mature era of QLs, and i think everyone's feelings are perfectly valid, because at the end of the day we all have different tastes and different things we would like to see

so what im hoping for rn is that everyone will be able to find something to be excited about and look forward to with what we've got, and as for the future, i hope we can all keep moving forward and aim for more together

on the topic of female jamlan fans its like. i think there's an assumption when women like male characters that they MUST be attracted to that character, and that can be true anecdotally but I think it does a disservice to female fans to say That's Why. like idk about other ppl but most of my jaime lannister investment is that i find him relatable! like, i too am cowardly and prone to favoring stasis over my own growth! i too tend to perform bitter acts of self-sabotage instead of just doing the work! like, just because i'm a woman doesn't mean im incapable of relating to a character outside of romantic fascination, and its a little insulting when people assume so. I really want to avoid generalisations about why anyone likes him bc obviously as one of the most popular characters people like him for a plethora of reasons and those aren’t just divided according to ‘female gaze’ and ‘male gaze’. when i say ‘female gaze’ (which i think is a flawed term in and of itself as it DOES rely on generalisations BUT for lack of a better term) i don’t even necessarily mean an attraction to Jaime (though ofc, valid for anyone that’s true for). e.g. i think female characters like Sansa, Dany, etc can also be quite ‘female gaze’ - in terms of relatability, themes, etc. and the ‘gaze’ certainly doesn’t encompass all reasons one might like a character anyway.

for me it’s just interesting to consider the ways in which Jaime can appeal on the basis of the gaze, particularly in a story as notorious as asoiaf is for specifically the ‘male gaze’. I think it’s actually so annoying that it’s often treated like a series for straight men where female readers are talked to like we’ve wandered in off the street, spotted a hot guy and a ship and decided to stick around. it’s condescending as hell. I think there are so many reasons why people like Jaime, and ‘female gaze’ doesn’t really come close to encompassing all my reasons, but i think if people truly wonder why he’s got such a substantial female fanbase, maybe that’s one place to start.

The whole Timeline war had to be a BIG historical event within War's era! So for as long as the event is remember by the books and those who've experienced it's effects, it would be told to the newer generations, including the royal children. The children were told about the war in an educational way, leaving out the true gruesome or unneeded bits and focusing on big/important events that happened during said war. This does include a brief but non describe retelling of Cia's and Lana's story/life.

Warriors made it his MISSION to keep his children as far away from Cia as physically possible. No matter how much Cia changed, he will never truly feel comfortable with letting his children near her, which both Cia and Zelda respect.

When I say that Ruladin 'fears punishment' i meant it in the way that any kid is kinda scared of how their parents would react to them doing something bad! This fear isn't from bad experiences from his parents but from the inherent kid logic that 'consequence to actions = end of the world.' This isn't to say that Zelda and Wars are PERFECT (no parents truly are) but they have never willingly or unintentionally made their kids afraid of them.

OH-- i didn't think about that but now? YES. Nayati has the same gremlin genes like his FATHER!!! When he was a little younger (prob teens) he TOTALLY messed with the servants of the castle and HAS ABSOLUTELY used the 'no one will believe you' line!! But as he gets older, that gremlin spark does get quite buried by his more 'well mannered' attitude. And yeah! Nayati is perfectly fine with taking the throne once his time comes to step up! Zelda helps him with accepting the responsibility of the role while also letting him pursue other passions. Zelda doesn't want her son to dread the day of his ceremony like she did.

I do think that the three learn the basics of self defense. General Impa is one of the main teachers/mentors the three has during their training, (Ruladin wildly idolizes and looks up to Impa, to the point he even styles his hair like him!) but Sheik and even Wars took some time to help the three. They do have an option to train farer, but Farola is the only one that really pursues that seeing as she wants to be a Captain like her father was!

Following that up, Farola started to sneak out to watch the guards out of wonder and curiosity but it quickly turned into a want to train. It was actually because of Farola's constant sneaking out that Impa suggested to Wars and Zelda for the kids to learn self defense, but hid the fact of where Farola was actually sneaking off to.

OH FAROLA WOULD TOTALLY BEAT WARRIORS IN A FIGHT <3 I think she would be trained in sword combat compared to hand-to-hand but is still quite skilled! I can also see her being able to stay in a sword fight with Sky for a bit before losing to him!

Nayati could probably take Hyrule in hand to hand but would still fall first to him HDAKHJDAK. Ruladin is a full on child. 12 fight wind for the pure COMDEY of two preteens absoluetly beating eachothers ass.

when im in a more cynical mood it honestly feels like the team writing stampede have active disdain for the original trigun they claim to be retelling which makes for not only a lackluster product but just a genuinely uncomfortable viewing experience for someone in love with the manga

like..when all the most important themes are being mangled into something different or else missing entirely and the main characters feel like less than even parodies of themselves i have to ask "who is this even for?" because as much as some people have a more positive relationship with stampede (and i have no interest in taking that from them) this show is far from the 'love letter to trimax' that some title it. mimicking a couple shot compositions from the source material or recycling poses for merch does not a love letter make. that's attention to surface level visuals, nothing more. to me it just feels like puppetry banking on our emotional investment with the older continuities to sell a product that feels heartless otherwise.

and again, i said when im in a more cynical mood. rationally i understand that the show simply isn't for me, and likely never will be. i can appreciate that it's brought in new fans, even if many of them don't want to leave stampede at the door when engaging with the old stuff. far from a crime; i just think it's baggage that diminishes the overall experience when you try to apply one separate continuity to the others. most days i harbor no conspiracy theories about the team at orange willfully tarnishing the memory of trigun for a cash grab. it's just some people making art that i find lacking, interpreting the source in a way i find to be missing the point by a wide mile. it's not the end of the world, but you know...it's just disheartening to feel like the shallowest version of the story is the most popular.

i don't really hold it against the new viewers or anything. we just have different tastes and that's fine. we tend not to interact anyway so it's no skin off my back. it's not that hard to filter the tristamp tags or block people that i feel Just Don't Get It (again, no ill will, it's not personal, etc) but it can get a little emotionally exhaustive. for all my love of trigun i often catch myself regretting my foray into the online fan spaces at all, wishing i'd kept to myself and my already established circle for engagement. they Get It, they Get Me, but idk. i've met a couple seriously cool people this year and formed a friendship or two that goes far beyond one initially shared interest. and that's worth it i think.

i'm still gonna bitch and moan about this show though.

tentatively excited for jannat se aagay because i think its premise looks Just different enough for it to be semi-interesting but im pretty much all in for Mein as of rn lol.. i think ayeza is a genuinely good actress with star power who gets relegated to the same roles all the time so this darkish glamorous tone has me so intrigued.... Not really a wahaj fan but i think their chemistry was chemistrying enough that if they actually do go the morally grey route for ayeza i'll watch.

also i saw you ask for green tv recs and i don't wanna be one of those people that says ALL OF THEM bc how counter-productive so here's some base-level reviews for the ones i've watched: tumhare husn ke naam is a classic romance that i think earns the 90s drama comparisons. very sweet so far but i think its most unique aspect is that this is the first time since mera naam yousuf hai probably that ive been endeared to an imran abbas character lol. jeevan nagar is really funny and rabia butt is a gem i'm very excited for her career but tonally it's something i have a hard time getting into.. reminds me of old pakistani skit shows but elevated to a certain level. kabli pulao i actually haven't seen which is blasphemous but the premise didn't intrigue me at all... might give it a chance for nadia afghan. 101 talaqain has an interesting story but i couldnt continue it because the direction was choppy and contrived. idiot suffers from a lack of defined secondary characters but the main two are very very endearing and well-acted so its like... if youre willing to sacrifice your time watching ahmed ali akbar and mansha pasha play the main couple from 3 idiots. finally, i think 22 qadam might be my favorite? its directed well and the storyline is actually intriguing so far even though from the teasers i was worried about how they were gonna do the cricket stuff (they managed it well). couldn't tell you about the romance bc there's been one interaction at the point im at but hareem CARRRRRIES and wahaj actually plays charismatic foil pretty well. sorry these are all just rambles but i hope u have a great day <3

I don't think Ayeza gets relegated to the same roles though? she tries to switch it up whenever she can. of course her "damsel in distress" roles outnumber her other characters but she has given a success in Meenu (a bubbly character) and in Mere Pass Tum Ho and Yaariyan (negative characters). Laapata toh had her playing a bubbly, negative-ish character. she definitely has the range and she looks terrific onscreen. even more so since she has started taking charge of the styling of her characters. her wardrobe in Mein looks ek dum GORGEOUS I just know Imma be salivating on her looks alot. Wahaj-Ayeza chemistry..idk..haven't been WOWed by it yet but i am hoping the drama itself will change that perspective.

thank you for the rundown about Green Ent's shows! i still haven't gotten the time or frankly even the inclination of checking out any of these. I read multiple complains about the channel's shows' having techincal issues that overall impacted the quality of the shows and honestly that has me hesitating in checking them out. alsoooo...maybe it's just me but there's something a little "off" about all of the dramas either the casting or the kind of stories that are telling that just doesn't pique my interest? i am not writing the channel or the content off entirely..i hope it will offer me something in the future that will have me taking this channel seriously but so far, I am far more concerned about shows that happen on the Big 3 channels of PakTV and am treating Green as just a beta version of a channel that needs time and continuous tinkering to work out its chinks before I consider it ready as a channel to be invested in.

time for my current totk thoughts bcuz im like, halfway i think thru main story and got all the geogylph memories! BIG SPOILERS AHEAD.

i think there is SO MUCH missing and it is depressing! like. the memories aren't enough. what do you mean we're going from zelda being like 'im so saaad i don't know how to time magic :(' and then suddenly time magics a flying knife?? and then sonia DIES? it feels like there is an entirely different game going on with zelda's wacky time-travel hijinks that we're missing due to only seeing glimpses and it feels very empty. idk if they'll fill the gaps with dlc or if this was just an issue of them rushing a game that needed a few more years to cook or what.

i hate the imperialism. all i hear is 'hyrule is ok and good bcuz it is run by pure good-natured imperialists vs those EVIL brown imperialists from the desert who are trying to do the same thing but EVILER.' i went from trying to vibe with rauru to rapidly disliking him.

ganondorf has the personality of an evil piece of cardboard but he's also hot so i give him a pass.

zelda has the personality of a good piece of cardboard and i'll give her a pass only for depressing me by being a soulless dragon flying around.

i think there is something to say about how the gerudo are not actually part of the hylian kingdom. even though they're all like 'we stand with u imperialist hyrule we wuv u!!' there is a very strong distinction that they are not ruled by the hylian monarchy. like. ganondorf was evil and vile for pressing back against rauru and waging war and not allowing the gerudo to merge with hyrule, and yet the gerudo still chose not to become one with hyrule. they just seemed to foster positive relations while maintaining their own as a separate entity. but who knows! maybe the game will prove me wrong and i'll eat my hat in rage!

the sage cutscenes are bland and bad. once again, cannot tell if the choice of copying and pasting each cutscene was a result of bad writing or the game not being allowed to cook long enough.

the depths keep making me pee my pants and i hate them but like just in a personal i rly hate the dark kinda way.

honestly back to the sages but they're bland in general as well. they tried to recreate the champions of old without any of the personality and feeling of connection to them. i do not give a single heck or darn about these sages, they just sure do exist as a means of passing on a power to the current champs. i feel this just makes their existence soulless and that they were just designed to be tools of rauru/means of furthering the plot. very boring.

i've been kinda irritated that a lot of npcs don't remember you. key ones do, like story-quest npcs, but like characters i've saved countless times in botw are like 'who r u'. and then characters are still SO surprised link is the heroic swordsman when it seems like this news otherwise traveled very quickly. i swing rapidly from delighted that npcs remember me and irritated when they don't, making it feel like botw didn't exist.

speaking of botw not existing. i get its because they wanna focus on zonai/avoid bogging the game down with more assets, but the lack of sheikah/guardian tech is really irritating. it's like everybody forgot about it. you cannot tell me they magically purged ALL of hyrule of any remnants of the guardian tech. also i know it is deranged to say it but i lowkey miss the panic of being chased down by guardians. it added a spice to the overworld.

overall... i just think botw is the better game?? which is not surprising, its hard for a sequel to surpass its predecessor, but i think they focused too much on new gimmicks and once again neglected the story, which is what i RLY care about. so once again i'm more invested in completing my funny lil side missions and leaving dragon zelda to rot in the skies.

So Capcom have been retconning/omitting parts of characters' backstories. Do we know if Claire's backstory was changed? Because honestly, her promiscuity in college was something that made her interesting (to me at least). And also this kind of continues through the franchise since she gets a new love interest almost every media she's in (partially because of the Cartwright Curse I'm sure). So I don't know if I'd like that interesting bit of backstory removed because then she just kind of turns into a flat character. IDK.

Anyways, I haven't been too invested in DI, but I like the idea of Jill/Claire relationship. The art looks so cute. <3

i don't know if they have retconned it necessarily but it's definitely not talked about. they also barely give her any characterization pertaining to her time in re2r so it's just strange having her as a "main character" as she's such a passive character. things just happen around her, and her story requires very little agency from her part.

hey kit i just wanna send an appreciation message. tgu had brought me a lot of joy this past year. its generally the AU i daydream about like. 24/7. im always checking for new posts from you, you're my fav account on here. i just really like the way you utilize established character points to explore what that means in a dynamic like this one. i dont see many stories go into depth with its characters the way you do. it adds a layer of depth that makes it all the more compelling. i just really appreciate the time and effort you put into exploring all of this and sharing it with us. ive been especially invested in kates past storyline and wandas destiny storylines. i cant wait to see how you play it all out given the set up you've established with wanda, and what im guessing is a yet to be concluded arc with kate given what just happened to her. i also feel like, a relation to toy when you go into their feelings about having to be the glue that keeps them together. ive def been there (albeit in terms of friendship but yk) and its nice seeing that actually addressed in fic in a real way. filling that role leads to a lot of stress and pressure and i love how you represent that in toys frustration. and their ability to stand up for themselves !!! super proud of them. natashas characterization is also spectacular. id imagine most people would write a storyline similar to kates and have natasha be the ultimate comfort, which is valid! but i really think the way you wrote her response tracks with what we know of her. something like that.. is too much. but whereas wanda has a maternal instinct and is able to swallow that and be there for kate, natasha clams up about her lack of ability to do anything. and then just.. doesnt wanna talk about it lol. fits so well. ok ive rambled a bit now sorry but yea i just. tgu is like. the best thing to happen to me in a while even if that sounds corny asf. i just really appreciate you as a creator and person

I esp love the way you developed Nagi’s “ego” here and also his like abandonment issues (?? Ykwim) but also his relation and semi attachment to Aiku it felt sm more meaningful/believable than a certain um duo….but the way Aiku approached him with the one shot method appealing to Nagi’s lack of motivation plus the way their “partnership” develops in a still essential but not so codependent way is actually my fav and ofc Nagi’s inner turmoil debating about what he really wants to do was a fantastic development/exploration into his character as we know it right now I’m mad at myself because I can’t find better words to explain this all but that was truly such a satisfying read like I couldn’t put my phone down reading it NAGI AIKU DUO ON TOP anyways

omg yay i feel like this lowkey ended up being just as much me rambling on about nagi’s ego and psyche as it was a random au so it’s nice to hear you think i got it right ^^ his abandonment issues being glossed over in canon is fr my roman empire especially with how that SHOULD have manifested in his health and habits which is why i made his basically be at the verge of malnourishment pre-aiku JFHDHS like not only is he so skinny that it kinda frightens his teacher but that’s also why he’s so sleepy in the beginning of the story!! like he’s still lazy and talks about napping up until the end because. well. it’s nagi 😭 but him being permanently exhausted in the first half stems from him having like no food besides fruit jellies ever 😟 and i wanted his relationship with aiku to make sense given that context?? like it’s not just a “oh he likes me so i like him” because a) aiku is too well adjusted for that and b) idk that’s not my fav dynamic overall…so it became this thing where aiku wants to nurture the best striker since he can’t be that himself so he picks nagi as his bet (#gambler) and at first he obviously seems to care way more abt nagi than the inverse but then by the end it’s like. oh nagi doesn’t want him to leave. oh nagi actually loves him (me personally i would say in a friend/sibling way but like if this was canon people would probably ship it so whatever). oh nagi needs him more than he needs nagi…but actually neither of them really NEED each other it’s just that nagi doesn’t WANT aiku to abandon him which is crazy because until he met aiku he never wanted anything wait this also reminds me i feel like i really cooked with the ending and how it mirrors the beginning??? like at the start nagi doesn’t care about the snow or soccer or his life or anything and by the end he’s looking up and hoping it’ll snow soon and he’s begging sae to pass to him and he wants to be alive FHDJDJD UGHHH HE WANTS TO BE ALIVE

hehe i thought the one goal thing kinda ate too it felt like exactly the kind of thing someone would say to get nagi on their team and it made sense with aiku being a defender?? WRITING NAGI’S INTERNAL MONOLOGUE WAS SO FUN i hope the change in his mindset was gradual enough that it didn’t feel too forced or sudden that by the end he’s having a genuine crisis and he’s actually trying where he never has and he finally reveals he DOES care for aiku but ALSO he’s friends with the rest of the u20s too!! like he keeps being like “yeah aiku’s my only friend and barely” but he knows so much about all of the u20 players and he tries to cheer them up and keep them from getting stressed because they’re his FRIENDSSS like hayate and kitsunezato and all of the rest HE CARES ABOUT THEM TOO 😭😭😭 he lowkey kept slandering niou though idek why i did that it was kinda funny though i think that one line where nagi’s like “for all of niou’s propensity for following aiku, he really does come through when it counts, and he does have a mind of his own, which, you know. it’s nice when he uses it.” is one of my favs AHAHA he’s such a diva i love him

IS IT EVEN ME IF I DON’T SNEAK KARASU IN THERE 🙂‍↕️ that one epinagi panel where nagi calls karasu “cocky crow-san” or smth is a) SO fucking funny and b) the inspiration for karasu just being nagi’s opp for the whole game OSDHDJS but omg sae was so funny in this one lowkey i thought he might’ve been TOO mean so i almost got rid of that line but then i was like “no this is too funny” so i just popped the ooc tag in there and called it a day 😭

i really like the way it ended so agreed i probably couldn’t write more BUT there were two things i cut from the story that i’ll just mention here because i probably won’t ever write them LMAO but around when nagi is talking about how aiku is a hassle as a friend and he always makes nagi come to parties with him there was going to be a scene where a girl is trying to rizz nagi up and nagi looks to aiku for help and aiku mouths smth like “tell her she’s pretty” so nagi is like ?? how will that make her go away ?? but he trusts aiku’s vision so he DOES IT and the girl is like 😳 and then nagi is like WTF because now she’s rizzing him up even MORE 😭 the oaeu tried its best to rear its head even in this au but i could sense the fic getting crazy long already so i had to cut it 😢 the other one isn’t really a scene per se but in that last moment when sae is helping nagi up after his second goal, he was going to say something along the lines of “maybe you won’t like madrid, but if you keep playing like this, there’s a club in germany that would be happy to sign you. their striker’s an asshole but it’s cold enough there for bad weather” therefore setting up a nagi + kaiser interaction as well as showing that sae does see some promise in nagi HAHA it just ended up feeling a bit too lighthearted compared to the more serious vibe of the ending so i took it out but please do imagine that sae says that to nagi while they’re in the locker room post match or smth 🤩

i wanna play the other games on mobile (i used to play star rail on mobile ngl LMFAO then realized 'hey this is fun' and moved to pc after genshin got too big. or maybe i had both at the same time i cant remember now ghreuigh) but uhm. the farthest i get in wuwa on mobile is like the opening loading screen before we see the rovers (it just stops there. even the music stops i think?? ive left it on and did other stuff but nothing happened and its either it wants me to wait super long, or theres just no hope) i did the tutorial for solo leveling arise on mobile but then trying to do literally anything else (like trying to access the menu) kicks me out of the game so then i had to move to pc. genuinely scary game first time around it shut down my pc, and even at lowest graphics kept warning me that 'for smoother gameplay you should have lower graphics' or something so fan on all the time (i have a fan pointed directly at my laptop.) and honestly. im not even that big of a fan of solo leveling why am i here (meilin fisher that is why. anyway i got her. so. shes not even an actual character outside the game??) ive literally only seen the anime and i forgot most of it😭

twisted wonderland (aka disney tw LOL) is my OTHER fixation besides star rail. ive gone through all the story (including JP which i dont have cause i cant read it but fan translations for the win) + most event stories (i havent gone through anniversaries, new year sale 2024 JP, and like i think theres a crewel one rn..? or thats just the new card., tapis rouge, playful land, thats it). i love this game. so much.

in all honesty i lose interest in things so fast and drop them. then i get interested in other things, etc etc. and then i get back to a fixation on, say, rhythm games and wanting to play them a lot. then i can get bored and get interested in like. idk. life simulation(?) games like sims 4. or minecraft specifically the wynncraft server (which is like a fantasy thing..)

which is kind of why i have a bunch of stuff that i dont play often still because one day im gonna want to play it and then go back.

for laptop i just got rid of the games i wasnt interested in playing at the moment so. yeah

i feel like omori is very flawed as a game. as a story, it works well, and it has some pretty good ideas for mechanics, but in terms of the game design, it feels lacking.

the main reason for this, i think, is that headspace just blows. the main quests are a bit tedious and narratively uninteresting, and you just kind of want to skip over them to go back to faraway where you can enjoy well written scenes with endearing characters. and while there is interesting stuff to find in headspace, like the lost forest, the keeper of the castle, the KEY holes, the blackspace enterances, the dialogue which implies there's more behind the scenes, all of this cool stuff is off the beaten path. nearly every sidequest i've done in headspace has been "go find this thing for this character and bring it back to them for a reward." joke book, teddy bear, flower puzzle, mr. plantegg, hector, mr. scarecrow guy, brother mole, its just so tedious!

and because all the side quests are the same, and all the main quests are boring, most players aren't going to find any of the actually cool content, simply because after a while, they're gonna get sick of headspace, and just want to skip to the faraway segments. how many people who played omori even knew about orange oasis the first time?

OMORI, as a game, fails to do headspace justice, as it neither makes exploring to find the cool parts fun, nor places the interestint bits in a player's path so they'll get to see them. and even if this is intentional, and you want to get into a debate about whether or not games need to be fun, and you wanna bring up Pathologic or something, that still doesn't excuse the fact that my desire to continue playing the game that i bought is hindered by the fact so much of it takes place in a tedious, narratively drained series of wacky locations. with pathologic, the point is that its a challenge. you aren't playing because its fun, you're playing because you want to win. or so ive been told.

i suppose headspace does work to illustrate how sunny's fantasy world is an unfulfilling carousel of childish pleasures and escapism, and that ultimately sunny needs to return to reality, but despite that there's good gameplay mechanics in headspace which you don't get to engage with in faraway! and legitimately interesting stuff which ties back into the main story, like mr. outback, or the deeper well creatures, or the man on fire, or daddy longlegs. its just that all this good stuff is sprinkled between a bunch of nothing, and so much of it you have to be invested enough in headspace to go out of your way to crawl through it and–

hey, wait a sec. i think im kind of getting it a little bit. players who are already invested in headspace will likely spend more time there and find more stuff to fuel their investment. these are likely hikikomori route players. players who are more invested in the faraway stuff can skip over headspace and be no worse for wear. it kind of works, just not for me, because im taking the game as a whole. i want to have it all. i guess that kind of works too, in a way.
