one of my friends showed me a site the other day called spacehey. it looks like a praise to myspace and like tumblr blogs is fully customizable via html/themes; though i find that tumblr has been evvvver so slowly pulling away from that customizability. i also grew up in the myspace age and so far the site looks soooo fun, so i made an account there :3. i’m taking some time to customize it how i want, but after that i’d like to try actually using and engaging in the site.
i can’t tell if the site is going to stick around forever, but it’d be so cool if it did because i’ve grown a bit wary of tumblr & some of the changes they’ve made over the last year or two. it’d be cool if you guys looked into it, if you haven’t already, because i’d love to find a community on there.
#this is the most excited i've been about a website in a while#the new management of tumblr is like... fine i guess#but the slow increase of weird features + how they're getting a little too buddy buddy with the ads and stuff#the ways of generating revenue are fine and i get it and it's better to make it fun than to make it annoying#but i'm still really uncomfortable with how quickly some things are changing on this site#just bc i've seen stuff like this happen before and it feels like it could go sour within a few years#basically i just want to establish myself somewhere else online incase tumblr ever crumbls#and while spacehey is super new and it's likely it might not be a forever thing. it looks fun rn#and i'm willing to try it :3#anyway join me on there some time!!!!!

The Gang fights cold war paranoia
Pro
A great short and to the point cold open that immediately flings the viewer into this new time travel setting
Bringing the 60's military and Roddenberry's vision of the future military face to face in this episode is interesting: some things are futuristic and some, by now, have happened (women in the military), some are the same (Kirk's &Christopher's sense of duty)
The balance of silly moments and humour works well with the more serious parts of the episode (Christopher and the crew possibly being stuck, the danger of temporal meddling)
I love that Star Trek roughly correctly predicted two real life Space achievements: the first moon shot being in the 60's on a Wednesday no less, and Christopher's son being part of the first Saturn probe, which in real life launched in 2004 – so roughly around the time his possible son could've been working for NASA
Everyone looks really beautiful in their close ups, once again
I like the change from “actually you contributed nothing” to “shit this guy needs to go back, his son is super important” because even though you yourself might not change the world, a person you influenced (or created) could, and therefore every person is relevant in their own way
The Paranoia and cold war mood is captured really well for a modern audience
The fact that the 60's, highly modern at the time, now feels like a museum to today's viewers just like it does for the crew; At the same time the Enterprise and it's Science Fiction is also old school to us; Old science fiction is always a great window into history also
The original special effects are once again great, the original enterprise is so adorable and beautiful (Video Link)
Kirk flirting with Christopher is its own comedy
Kirk's whole facial journey when Christopher appears
Instead of containment or anything Kirk immediatly shows of his ship and tells him literally everything while still flirting in the lift
That flight suit must be so uncomfortable Captain Christopher, you should totally change into something more comfortable :)
The fact that Christopher is such a straight guy from his time who doesn't clock this at all makes it even funnier, two opposite sites of the sexual tension scale
then Spock swooping in destroying Kirks happy threesome dreams with reality
I mean how else can I interpret Spock's look at Christopher than that of a jealous boyfriend
Spock then sticking around and not leaving Jim and Christopher alone AND casually delivering the sickest “your life was sort of useless” burn
Christopher finding out about his son, the way the others are just as delighted about it as he is and the way he smiles every time it's mentioned is not only sweet but also shows certain things about humanity won't change – the love for our children is something they can bond over despite being centuries apart
Sulu and Kirk solo adventure! Also them working well together! Also just the fact that they casually beam in the middle of a military base and aren't even that sneaky about it
Sulu's large bag is keeping all his secrets
Bones and Spock, flirting their way through Kirk's absence
The entire scene were Kirk and Sulu get discovered is comedy gold: them pretending not to hear the obvious beeping, Spock eyeing the frozen military man up and down, Kirk's absolutely done with this plot reaction, Bones taking the gun and communicator off him in slow motion, it's all so well paced and acted
Us? We are so so innocent and don't know anything :)
The fight scene is so very Trek, but a) just very believable as it's just chaos and limbs b) Kirk reacted so quickly and well to the situation as it was never about winning but about giving Sulu time to escape and c) Sulu reading the situation correctly and doing the right thing
Kirks giving the policemen nothing but cunt and he's such a pretty boy doing it, giving severe I'm beautiful & I don't deserve this vibes
I literally made so many screenshots of kirk being done with what's going on that I made a seperate post
“Oh this little thing? Just something I slipped on” Kirk STOP flirting with the military guys!!!
Con
the entire "Kirks pc is a sexy lady" is just weird, serves no purpose and feels very out of place
The way the situation is solved in the end feels very sudden and fast compared to the rest of the episodes pacing
Counter: Nothing
Quote I made an error in my computations (Spock) Oh? This could be an historic occasion. (Bones)
Moment: It's hard to choose, but the fight itself is so great and classic TOS including Kirk yeeting himself at all three of them
Summary: The classic Sci-Fi time travelling trope done Trek style, with some team shennanigans, including a very "I'm done with life" Kirk trying to flirt with a time traveller, a "I have done nothing wrong in my life, ever" Sulu and some classic TOS fighting. The episode also offers some deep thoughts on the importance of a single person in our society and the dangers of temporal meddling, setting a precedent that will shape future directives for Starfleet and time travel. “we were pretty dumb, weren't we?”
this is based on a scene from Tangled 💛
The campfire crackled softly, its flickering flames casting warm shadows across the trees that encircled our campsite. The sky above was a deep navy, stars faintly twinkling like distant campfires of their own, and the smell of pine mingled with the smoky scent of burning wood. Jaemin and I sat on a couple of old logs that we’d found around the site, our feet stretched out towards the fire to soak in the heat. Marshmallows roasted on sticks in our hands, slowly caramelizing and puffing up.
"Remember the time we tried to build a treehouse?" Jaemin chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "It was supposed to be our secret hideout, but the thing collapsed before we even got the walls up."
I laughed, watching the marshmallow on my stick catch fire and quickly blowing it out. "Yeah, I still can't believe we didn't get hurt. We were pretty dumb, weren't we?"
"Definitely," he replied, grinning as he took a bite of his charred marshmallow. "But it was fun. We thought we were so clever, planning to make a whole hideout from scratch with just some old boards and a hammer."
We shared a laugh, reminiscing about the countless misadventures we'd had over the years. We'd been best friends since kindergarten, inseparable from the moment we'd met. It was a bond that had always felt unbreakable, like family. There was never any sense of romantic tension between us; it was pure friendship. A bond built on trust, shared memories, and the simple joy of being around each other.
But tonight, something felt different. It wasn't that we suddenly felt any kind of romantic feelings—it was more like the air around us had shifted. The tension wasn't uncomfortable, just palpable, like the silent understanding that our friendship had reached a new level of depth.
"Can I tell you something?" I asked, my voice softer as I watched the fire. Jaemin turned to look at me, his expression immediately attentive. He nodded, and I took a deep breath. "I used to have critical eczema when I was younger. It was really bad. I had to deal with it for years, and it left a lot of scars."
Jaemin's eyes softened with concern as he listened. "I'm sorry," he said, his voice filled with genuine empathy. "I never knew."
I nodded, the memories flooding back. "It was hard. It felt like my skin was betraying me. I used to scratch a lot, and I still have some scars from it." I paused, then decided to show him what I meant.
I slid my hair off my shoulders, letting it fall behind my neck, revealing the small scars along my collarbone. I glanced at him, noticing the way his eyes widened slightly with surprise. His gaze was gentle, concerned, and he didn't say a word, just listened as I explained.
Then, I slid my shirt off my shoulder, exposing more of the scars that ran across my skin. I could feel Jaemin's eyes on me, his lips slightly parted in shock at my boldness. I didn't even realize I was exposing so much skin to him, someone I was so close to, but I felt safe with him. It was like showing him a part of me that I’d kept hidden for so long.
"These are from scratching after showers," I explained, pointing to a particularly noticeable scar. Jaemin remained silent, just watching me with a look that was both fascinated and sympathetic. I pulled up my skinny jeans to reveal some scars on my legs, the shiny, smooth skin accentuated by the light of the fire. The moment felt intensely personal, and I couldn't help but notice Jaemin's expression change. He seemed caught off guard, like he wasn't sure how to react.
"Hey, you've been somewhere else just now?" I teased, chuckling at his sudden silence. Jaemin blinked and shook his head, snapping back to reality.
"What? No, I'm fine," he said quickly, his voice a little higher than usual. I saw him gulp nervously, and I couldn't help but laugh softly at his reaction.
"Oh, I'm sorry if that made you uncomfortable—" I started, but Jaemin quickly cut me off.
"No, no, it's totally fine," he said, shaking his head. "We're close enough. It's just... we've never really talked about things like this before. It's... touching."
I nodded, feeling the warmth of the fire on my skin and the warmth of our friendship in my heart. There was something comforting about sharing our vulnerabilities with each other, about breaking down the barriers we'd never even noticed were there. As we sat there, staring into each other's eyes, I couldn't help but wonder if maybe, just maybe, there was something more to our bond than just friendship. But I wasn't ready to admit it yet, and neither was he.
We both burst into laughter at the same time, the tension easing as quickly as it had come. It was a great time for us—one of those rare moments where you feel completely at peace with someone, where everything just feels right.
"Thanks for being here," I said, smiling at him. "I couldn't imagine anyone else I'd rather share this with."
Jaemin grinned, nudging me with his shoulder. "Same here. You're my best friend, and nothing's going to change that."
As we sat there, marshmallows forgotten, I knew that no matter what happened in the future, our bond would always be strong. Whether it stayed as just friends or became something more, I was grateful to have him by my side.

I can't help but consider our modern relationship with social media and digital content as one of the keystone elements in the surge of identities that people (especially young people) are having. I was lucky. I remember what life was like before computers and phones became everyday objects. And even when they started to become the norm, my family still took a while to join the boom. We didn't have a lot of extra money to throw around for things that weren't yet necessary.
Sometimes I tell people, "I can't imagin being a kid or a teenager now." I can't imagine having to curate an internet image, aesthetisizing every moment of my life for clout. The smoke and mirrors of it all, how exhausting.
And then the porn. Always just a click away, even on mainstream social networks and sites. Children seeing oversexualized people, becoming desensitized to what used to be in the centerfold of dirty magazines, all which now pops up on their daily feed. Influencers advertising makeup, clothes, sex toys, substances. Through the screen they act like your friend, through the screen kids don't see the paycheck, the script.
Their brains are still developing, for crying out loud, and we're allowing them access to a world we adults aren't even able to handle! And then these things are telling kids to define themselves, quickly now, so the algorithm can give them what they like.
So of course children and teens are getting wrapped up in the Barnum effect of it all. They're inherently curious - I know I was. But before, you'd look things up in books, or ask a friend or family member. There was a physicality to it all. If you wanted to look up something naughty, perhaps, and you were too ashamed to ask someone you knew, well then you'd better be willing to brave the library, the looks of the librarian if you needed help. Shame could be a factor in keeping some people from going too deep, too far into something that's hard to come back from.
But those physical checks and balances - asking someone, going to a place of knowledge - helped us keep each other accountable, and look out for each other if something was up, have conversations if something was wrong or uncomfortable. There was a collective, in a sense. Now, the collective is the world wide web, and it fits right in the palm of your hand. Now, you have kids seeing posts from their favorite celebrities, their favorite bloggers, their peers talking about identity, kinks, politics, anatomy, language, the whole package. Now, you have kids reading tweets (or Xs or whatever nonsense it's called now) telling them if they feel something then they ~are~ something. Now, you have kids barely in their teens coming out with pronouns and wanted surgeries to their parents with no warning, the children having done all their identity homework via the internet.
I helped a customer at my job one day who didn't want anything, didn't need to use our services. He just wanted to come in and update his name on his store account. "I'm really excited," he explained to me, playing with the string of his hoodie, his light scruff of a beard a little bed-heady. "I've thought really hard about what I want my name to be, since I'm nonbionary, and I've finally got it." He told me his new name (still masculine, but referencing a favorite author of his) and then rattled off his list of all the other places he had to go and change it. He was seventeen, maybe eighteen, and couldn't wait to legally change his name on his learner's permit. He seemed sweet, albeit a little weird, and I could tell he was waiting for a reaction, a congratulations or an offended look. Any attention to affirm his choice. Sorry, his "truth."
Kids are creative. They create stories with toys, ideas, inanimate objects. When the home computer came along, kids created avatars. Naming them is fun, important - especially if someone other than you is going to see them. One word or short phrase is supposed to encapsulate who you are. (I laugh at how long it took me to come up with my first Tumblr username.) But then the digital became too personal, the lines blurred, and suddenly there's clout in naming yourself.
But in embracing their "true selves," their "authenticity," kids today are disassociated from themselves more than ever before. Outside of who technology tells them they are, what else do they have? If the internet stopped telling them who they were, what could they become?
I'm thankful that I grew up without the internet holding my hand. I was a very nonconforming girl: cargo shorts were my uniform, I refused to wear makeup or shave, I liked collecting bugs and playing in the dirt. If I had grown up today, I'd have changed my pronouns at least, if not opted into a full transition. But instead of spending my teenage years watching short videos on qu**r theory takes and how 2+2 can equal 5, (shoutout to Foucault, the enemy of logical thought) I spent my time playing with friends, creating things with too much paint and glitter, reading any book I could get my hands on. And the thing I love is that nearly every hobby that was important to me as a child is still important to me in my adulthood, is a healthy escape from the mundanity of work and obligations.
But what if what was important to me as a child was intangible? What if it was my identity? Like I said earlier about curating the perfect internet profile, this is simultaneously too much pressure for young folks AND it's far too narcissistic. Stop looking in the black mirror of a phone screen and start looking for the things that make you genuinely happy and curious. You'll be healthier for it.

I LOVE YOUR PACIFIC RIM AU SO FAR!!! I was so engrossed I almost forgot to sleep last night! I love how you portray things, and you write very well! If it's okay to ask, do you have any examples of what you think the characters wear? I know you explained some, but I'm a bit visual when it comes to outfits (in my head I just imagine them in whatever suits the Mood™ :'3). If not that's okay!!! I wouldn't mind a (more?) thorough word-explanation, either!!! Please and thank you? :D
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I am so touched that you like TDBU so much!! Is it weird to say that I saw you liked each chapter and it 100% made my day? And, like, the mom friend in me wants to yell “DON’T SKIP SLEEP”, but I can’t count all of the times I’ve pulled an all nighter just to finish a good fic so... 😂😂 But really, thank you so much for taking the time to read TDBU and leaving an ask!! 😄💖
As for what the characters wear, I plan on drawing the main 4 once my Hand and Brain decide they wanna work together Lol (I hate artist’s block), but for now I’ll try giving you a description and various reference pictures of what they wear, because I don’t think I ever went into real detail about it. Clothing is one thing I usually don’t think about often in real life, and, looking back, my writing really shows it 😅🤣
This got really long because I did everyone (because not everyone gets a custom wardrobe like the main 4) and I love to ramble and talk a lot, so I put it all under the cut 😊
Basically, in my AU, trainees are allowed to wear basically whatever they want as long as it’s “gym appropriate” (but no shorts). So for the OC trainees, imagine a lot of yoga pants, leggings, tennis shoes, fitted T-shirts, and tough pants. All of the background employees and Luther wear the cannon Pacific Rim uniform (the first and second outfits), with the only exceptions being the scientists and Chloe (they go semi casual, some good examples can be found using Google Images), and Marshal Fowler (who also follows cannon; the third pic).
For Markus, Simon, North, and Josh, I imagine them wearing things that are close to cannon like below. Just imagine that North’s shirt doesn’t go off one shoulder, and Josh loses the jacket, and Simon and Markus lose the turtlenecks/hoods. They all, of course, have their casual outfits, but whenever Connor or Ritch see them, it’s like this. The one exception being at the party where they were all wearing various types of pajamas and comfort clothes (imagine whatever you want for the pajamas, honestly).
I imagine Hank wearing clothes close to Cannon as well (at least for now), like below. That’s his favorite sweatshirt and is seen most frequently in it along with various, dark-colored sweat pants that usually have food stains or random, small holes at the seams from age. Although, as Connor mentioned briefly in the last chapter, he has seen Hank without his infamous sweatshirt once when he dropped the alcohol off the night of the party (and I am offended at myself for not pointing that out in that chapter. It was supposed to me a very minor thirst moment for Connor because Hank’s arms are 👌 in this AU), and that was the stained, grey T-shirt we all know from the “Wake Up Lieutenant” scene. He also either wears an old pair of tennis shoes or slippers depending on how his day is going/what kind of mood he was in that morning (Connor will actually mention this in the next chapter, which will be up tomorrow!!).
Gavin is where things start to deviate (no pun intended) from cannon. He normally wears a grey (any shade as dark or darker than below) or a muted red T-shirt (similar below). He always wears dark (either blue or grey/black) fitted jeans (but not skinny or tight!!) with it, but no jacket. He’s technically a full-time Jaeger pilot, so he needs to wear clothes he can easily and quickly change out of so he can get into uniform and to the jaeger ASAP. A jacket and tight pants are two more obstacles between him and a city-destroying alien, but he’s also vain enough to not want to wear the official uniform all the time and to not go around looking like Anderson.
The only connection to D:BH cannon that Ritch and Connor’s wardrobe have are their “light and dark” color schemes. Their wardrobe is almost completely identical, with the only major differences being the colors and the fact that Ritch has heeled boots**. The pictures below show what Connor wears every single day (minus the gloves; he only wears those during training), but his shirts can be any shade of dark grey, and he has another set of pants that are navy blue. The second picture is more accurate to what Connor wears as pants than the first pic (whch should also help explain how he hid so many alcohol bottles without it being immediately suspicious), but the belt is the same as the first pic. All you need to do to get Ritch’s outfits is replace the black shirt with a white, off-white, or silver/light grey shirt, make his pants grey (he always makes sure his pants are darker than his shirt, but lighter than Connor’s shirt), and replace the boots for the ones in the third picture. His gloves and boots are both black for dirt and blood reasons, but his belt is a dark grey so it doesn’t "clash” with the light color scheme.
**Ritch fully realizes how dangerous it is to fight in heels, but by the time Amanda had adopted them and started their training, Ritch had been stealing heels and wearing them every day for years in order to be significantly taller than Connor and more easily differentiated from him, so his leg muscles and feet had literally grown used to the incline of the heels. Wearing normal boots (like Connor’s) was (and still is) uncomfortable for him. There will be more details and such about this discussed within the next 2 or 3 chapters, but know that there’s a low chance of him breaking an ankle or something while training or fighting due to reasons. (I’m taking some creative liberties with Ritch’s “shoe problem” because [both thankfully and frustratingly] I couldn’t anything about overuse of high heels by children or anyone else with developing muscles. However, the effects Ritch has in this fic do happen to women after years of almost daily wear, just to a lesser extent, but nowhere on the sites I used said that the heels were higher than 3 inches, which was the minimum Ritch was wearing.)

Trigger warning: Talk about death
Word Count: 2633
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
After making sure all of the blood was no longer on his uniform, Closing his eyes, Izuku steeled himself to walk into the All Might shrine that was his room. Sure, he still wanted to be a hero, and he admired All Might’s strength, but he couldn’t stand to be surrounded by posters and figurines of a man who couldn’t offer any sort of encouragement to a child who clearly needed it. Izuku pulled some cardboard boxes out from his closet and started filling them with everything All Might. Oboro didn’t make a sound during the time he cleaned out his room, which he was grateful for. Even though he could just feel Oboro wanting to ask questions.
“So what are you going to do about all this stuff?” Oboro asked as Izuku changed his All Might sheets with regular black ones “You seem like such a big fan...it just seems like a waste just to keep it all in boxes.”
Izuku shrugged his shoulders.”I’m not much of a fan anymore.” he lied to mostly himself rather than to Oboro, “I guess I’ll just donate the stuff later.” Once his walls were finally bare, Izuku stuffed the now full boxes to the back of his closet and flopped onto his bed. The room stayed silent for a moment until Izuku broke the ice, “I don’t want to intrude on your personal life…but can you tell me about yourself?” he asked
“Well for the fact that I witnessed and helped you with some pretty deep stuff, it sorta would be rude if I didn’t tell you something about my previous life,” Oboro said cheekily
“H-how long have you been...you know…” Izuku paused not really wanting to complete the question.
“...dead?” Izuku nodded “I was in my second year of high school when I died and I would be 29 by now so...close to 12 years I think?” Izuku sat there on his bed frozen
‘12 years is a long time to be a ghost or spirit to not have passed on, that is if people actually pass onto another place once they die’ Izuku thought to himself
“I was patrolling around Tasomiya Ward with one of my best friends when there was a villain attack...I was working on saving some kids when debris fell on top of me...when I woke up I was like how I am now, I couldn’t find my body anywhere so I just...travelled around…” Oboro seemed to quiet down at mentioning that he never found his body to move onto another life, so Izuku thought of ways to change the current mood of the room.
“So you were a hero in training or something?” he asked, face full of wonder, Oboro hummed in affirmation “What school did you go to?”
“I went to U.A”
“Wait really?!” Izuku exclaimed excitedly, “that's so cool!”
They continued talking and asking questions back and forth, before falling into a comfortable silence. A few minutes past before Izuku took a deep breath
“I...I’m sorry,” Izuku said quietly, slowly curling into himself
"Why would you be sorry kid?" Oboro’s voice was full of confusion. But Izuku only curled in on himself further.
"If it wasn't for me you wouldn't be stuck here." As if anyone wanted to be bound to some stupid Deku...like him. And here he thought it was a whole coincidence that Oboro was with him. But instead, he just took whatever type of freedom he had to begin with.
"Hey, no! Stop that. Izuku that's not true! I'm here because I want to be!" The warmth spread all over him and he couldn't help but lean into it. “I said I'd make a hero out of you and I still plan on it."
Izuku looked up only to see the ceiling of his room, lifting his arm up to the sky and let it just float there (like what every kid does while laying on there bed contemplating on what to do next). "I wish I could see you again."
Oboro hummed. Seeming to think something through. "I don’t think there’s much out there since I was only a second-year when I died, but there could be some photos of me with friends or an article"
Izuku seemed to take that as a challenge as he went to his computer. "What did you choose to be your hero name?"
"Loud Cloud."
After scouring the web for a couple of minutes nothing showed up except for an old article from the Nikkei Shimbun newspaper, reporting the death of hero-in-training Loud Cloud. Izuku quickly exited that site choosing to search for something different. “What’s your full name Oboro?”
“Oh that’s right I didn’t tell you my full name, it is Oboro Shirakumo” Oboro replied
“Oboroshirikumo...oboroshirikumooo….here!” Izuku exclaimed pointing at the monitor’s screen. “This photo was tagged saying ‘Curry eating competition at U.A’s School Festival. Winner Hizashi Yamada from class 2-A!’ it also says the names of the people in the photo are; Shota Aizawa, Hizashi Yamada, and Oboro Shirakumo.”
“Oh, I remember that!” Oboro cried out laughing “The curry was soo spicy I was freaking out because I couldn’t find anything to soothe my burning throat!”
“So that’s you in the back then?” Izuku asked pointing towards a teenager who seems to be freaking out.
Oboro chuckles “Yep, the other two were my best friends!”
“Yamada looks sorta familiar what’s his hero name?” Izukku asked, curious on why the 16-year-old looked so familiar to him
“Unless he changed it before becoming a pro, which he probably would not, his hero name is Present Mic.”
Izuku sputtered “W-wait you were close friends with THE Present Mic?!” Oboro hummed in agreement while Izuku had his miny freak out “
“Oh my god that is socool!Ilistentohisradioshoweveryday,andhe’ssuchanamazinghero,likeevenifheisdeafduetohisquirkhedoesn’tletitbotherhiman-” He stopped hearing the sound of laughter coming around his room and his lamp flickering
"Aw jeez, that’s amazing Hizashi got to get that radio show he wanted." There was a quick blast of warmth flooding around his back and chest resembling a hug. "Well anyway, you should probably head to bed. You have a busy day ahead of you tomorrow and a long way to go before you can have a chance at being accepted into UA!"
"What are you going to do while I sleep?" Izuku asked, eyes slowly drooping.
"I'm going to see how far I can go without being next to you, and have a look around and exploring a bit. No need to worry. I'll make sure to be careful and be here in the morning." He seemed to pick up on his anxieties. Izuku felt warmth as Oboro slowly pet his hair back. "Goodnight, Izuku."
The next morning Izuku woke up to warmth pulsing on his right cheek. "Hey kid it’s time to get up! You have training to do! Up and at ‘em!" Oboro’s voice was overly joyful and Izuku felt very unwilling to get out of bed.
"Mm...just a bit longeeeer." He groaned turning himself over facing away from where he guesses Oboro is standing (floating?).
"Fair warning Izuku my jokes are terrible, everyone at school would always runaway once I started and I haven’t been able to talk to actual people in so long! If spaghetti were to have it’s own action movie, what would it be called?.... Mission im-pasta-ble. What did the pot eat on it’s birthday?....pancakes. What do you call a camel in a drought?....A dry hu- "
Finally, Izuku jerked up, covering his ears. “Okay. Okay, I’m up! No need to finish that.” His face started to burn a light pink across his face, (knowing what the end of the joke was) as he started to kick the blankets off only to turn towards the window and see barely any light outside. "Wha- Oboro!! The sun isn’t even out yet!"
He turned glaring into thin air hoping to make contact with him.
"Yes, it is, Izu. It's just reeeally early in the morning. There is plenty of time for you to get ready and eat before we go out for a morning run!" He was being weirdly energetic about the whole ordeal, but Izuku knew he wouldn't take no for an answer.
Heading to the bathroom, Izuku ran a brush through his wild curly hair and brushed his teeth. Going back to his room, Obroro pipped up. "It's a bit cool outside so I suggest you wear some long sleeves."
The entire way to his closet Izuku muttered incoherent things. In the end, he opted to wear a plain black shorts and a long-sleeved shirt with written kanji saying 'tank-top' with his old dusty sneakers because his red sneakers were still on top of the roof.
Before heading out Izuku ate some toast and an orange. If he got hungry later on their run he could always eat more when they got back. As Izulu started to leave the apartment Izuku tripped over an unmarked box that was just left in front of the door.
"Ooo I wonder what it is!” Oboro seemed quite enthusiastic as Izuku went to open the box revealing his faded red shoes and yellow backpack.
"Wai-how-who found my stuff?" Izuku asked immediately putting the bag by the door and quickly changing between uncomfortable and comfortable shoes.
"I don’t know, when I got back from wandering around the package was just...there."
"Maybe someone found it and found out where I live from my contact info and address was written inside…?” Izuku wondered out loud.
“I guess so,” Oboro said looking to the bright sight of things.
‘But what if it was...All Might. Yeah, I’m glad that I don’t have to go back up there to collect my things but...I don’t want to have to depend on All Might to help me with my own problems.’
“Hey don’t think like that Izu! I know you’re not a huge fan of the guy, but you don’t have to beat yourself down like that. I know you’re better than that” Oboro spoke sternly trying to make a point, but that soon backfired as warmth spread through his body.
“Hold up- could you always hear my thoughts?” Izuku questioned as he started to jog away from the apartment.
“So far I can heat some things. Like your thoughts that way heavily on you emotionally. But it could possibly work to talk to me through your mind. So you don’t look like a freak talking to themselves.” Oboro quickly informs Izuku as to not worry him.
Sighed Izuku. That was true. Though he kept thinking about it as he jogged. As they passed Dagobah Municipal Beach, the sun had started to rise. Taking in a deep breath was the wrong reason as Izuku cringed from the awful smell of garbage. Despite the smell, Izuku took a break, taking a seat at the entrance.
"Oh gross. What is this place?" Oboro asked with a clear sound of disgust in his voice.
"Well," Izuku started."This is Dagobah Municipal Beach Park. It has accumulated trash coming from the sea for years, turning it from a beautiful beach spot into a trash heap for everyone's unwanted or broken belongings." It was really a shame. As a kid, Izuku recalled going to the beach. Lie under a beach umbrella, making sandcastles. But by the time he was tall enough into the water, it was already flooded with trash by then.
"That's terrible." Oboro seemed deeply upset about this actually. It made Izuku want to do something about it. But before Izuku could voice his thoughts Oboro spoke up.
“Hey Izu, could we make a quick visit to a convenience store?”
“Sure...what exactly do you want me to get?” Izuku asked, despite having an idea what Oboro was thinking.
“Well...you’re going to need to get some garbage bags and some gloves.”
Izuku then dashed towards the nearest convenience store with determination in his eyes. A frail-looking lady turned the key to open the doors as he walked by. Causing her to recoil in slight shock, Izuku realized that with his rapid approach he had frightened her. "I'm sorry, ma'am. I'd just come to purchase some garbage bags and some gloves.
The older woman seemed to soften something about his face as she smiled and opened his door. "Sure thing, they’re both in the last aisle on your right."
Before she went inside, Izuku thanked her and smiled back. He quickly found what he was looking for and brought a box of trash bags and a pair of workers gloves onto the counter.
"What's the hurry, son? Why do you need trash bags this early in the morning? You aren't trying to cause trouble are you?" the old woman pointed to Izuku with an accusing finger, and he shook his head quickly.
"Oh no, ma'am! I thought that I could just try and clean the beach up! I passed it while I was on my morning run!" Izuku assured, voicing Oboro’s plan
At this, the elder woman gently smiles while scanning the items. “Wow, is that right?” she said astonished, “ You know how long that place has been a mess? What makes you believe you can do it all by yourself?"
Her words weren't really painful, she was just being realistic. He knew she was right. He certainly had no obligation to clean up the beach. He could have just ignored it and easily went about his day. But he knew if he wanted to be a hero then he would need to start off the roots of how heroes came to be. How they used to work. Heroes in the beginning didn’t do what they did for fame. No. They didn’t care for the recognition they would get. They did it because they just wanted to help.
“That’s the thing, ma’am. I thought that it wouldn’t hurt to try. It’s also a great way to work out, instead of having to buy workout equipment or get a gym membership!” Izuku brightly smiles towards the lady as he handed her the money to buy his items.
“Well, I wish you luck, kid. I’m guessing that you’ll need a place to put the trash you collect.” She stated, Izuku smiling sheepishly at her rubbing the back of his head she continued, “There are two dumpsters in the alley behind the store, they get taken every Monday.”
"Thank you, ma'am!" Izuku said genuinely as he headed for the door. He didn't think too much about how he would dispose of the garbage, so it was good to have one offered.
Oboro began to laugh as Izuku jogged back towards the beach. "Cheaper than having to buy workout equipment or get a gym membership! Man, how true that is nowadays!”
The first garbage bags were packed very quickly. broken bottles, cans of beer, old and rotting newspaper, all of it was poured into the trash bag. Plastic, paper, glass, etc. Izuku could take them to a recycling center! He was already pumped about this new project when Oboro spoke up.
“Hey, Izu, before you toss that into the bag” placing his hand on Izuku’s making him feel warmth blossom closest to the soda, can packaging he was holding in that hand. “make sure you cut each circle so if they end up in wildlife again then animals won’t get their heads stuck inside.”
Izuku's eyes lit up as he started to tear apart each loop before placing it in one of the bags used for recycling. Soon Izuku had used up a quarter of the box of trash bags gone and only had 6x5 feet rectangle cleared of the beach.

I'm just imagining in the trapped in the elevator story after SO has the baby and V's just like 'it's so small....... a tiny human...' just completely enamored w/ this lil squishy bean. Just. Noodle Dad and smol babby is Good Shit.
Had a bunch of Prompts like this one:
Hey there! Just wanted to say that I absolutely fell in love with your Expecting Venom x Reader story!! 🖤❤️ Do you think there will be a sequel/follow up where Eddie and the reader have a cute discussion about names or Eddie/Venom freaking out over a Braxton Hicks contraction? (And maybe the reader goes, “OMG, it’s fine! I’m fine! Plz calm down!” after Venom fully transforms, scoops her up, and is about to web-swing her to the hospital, or something! XD )
OMG, I just LOVED your Pregnant Reader x Eddie Brock/Venom story!!!! Do you think you could do another one where the Reader suddenly goes into labor?
Can we get more pregnant reader with Eddie and the symbiot? Maybe she goes into labor and they are freaking out and after 5 hrs twins are born, one completely human and the other a symboit that already bonded with the human baby and they are a perfect match since they basically grown together.
Hi don’t know if I’m asking at the right site sorry if I’m not. I was wondering if you could do a venom promt, like a sequel to the Elevator one where the pregnant reader finally gives birth and Venom is immediately mesmerized by the baby after the delivery, maybe have him freak out like a lot of dads do during the labour since he is still learning things about humans? If you already have a sequel to it then just ignore me. Gamer-Kat.
WOW! So much interest for this one! Alright, here we go. I hope this doesn’t disappoint. (I tried to work in the symbiote/baby idea. It’s not quite what was requested, but I hope it’s good enough)
Sequel to ‘Elevator Troubles while Expecting’
EDIT - I have edited the prompt ‘Daddy’s Girl’ to fit in with this. Think of it as a future part of this ‘series’ of prompts.
“Eddie?”
“Yeah, babe?”
You grimaced a little as you braced a hand against the living room wall, your other hand clutching at your belly. Pain radiated from your stomach, to your lower back and down your legs, turning standing into an exertion that you really didn’t need. You breathed through it, when spoke once the wave had passed. “I think you should get me to the hospital now.”
His head jerked up and spun towards you so fast you thought he’d broken his neck. “W-What?”
“I’ve been having contractions… for the past hour.”
“The past— Babe! You said you were sleeping!”
“Yes, well, after the Braxton-Hicks incident I wanted to be sure this time.” Said incident had involved a panicking Venom, who had scooped you up and bashed his way out the living-room window - and part of the wall - in the rush to get you to the nearest hospital before you’d been able to explain to him what was going on.
Luckily the Building Manager was a good one. Most of the brickwork had been replaced, and while the ‘window’ part was still boarded up, the Manager had assured you that the order had been put in and it was just a matter of waiting for the custom window to be delivered.
Currently, however, you had bigger problems.
Like Eddie running around the apartment trying to find the bag you’d prepared for your trip to the hospital. “Eddie.”
His voice wavered. You saw little symbiote tendrils start to weave in the air around him, a sure sign that Venom was getting just as flustered. “Yeah?”
Jesus. Did all men get this freaked out? “Hallway closet, top shelf, green duffel bag.”
“Right!”
Shaking your head, you slowly waddled towards the apartment door, thankful for the slip-on sneakers you’d bought two months ago. Bending over just wasn’t possible anymore.
Eddie returned to your side with the needed bag, eyes comically wide. “Cab or web-slinging?”
You opened your mouth, then shut it with a grimace as another wave hit you. You’d had bad menstrual cramps before - had been warned by your OBG/YN that the contractions might feel that way - but this was ridiculous.
“Web-slinging. Definitely web-slinging. Off the rooftop!” you added quickly as Eddie vanished under the darkness of the symbiote, Venom reaching for you once the transformation was complete. “We managed to bullshit our way through one excuse for the wall. I don’t think we can do it again.”
“WE PANICKED A LITTLE,” Venom rumbled to you, voice low with embarrassment, as he gently scooped you into his arms, cuddling you close. He lashed out some tendrils from his back to pick up the duffel bag, anchoring it to him as he used another bit to open the front door.
It wasn’t often that you saw Venom employ stealth. Usually he just went where he wanted to go, and damn anything in his way. Now, he was silent, footfalls making no sound as he darted across the hallway and into the stairwell, bounding up them one flight at a time.
“TALK TO US MORSEL. WE CAN SENSE YOUR PAIN. WHAT DO WE DO?”
That had been the symbiote’s largest issue with your pregnancy. Not the physical changes, or the oddity of a live birth, but the fact that you’d end up in pain. Both Eddie and Venom had zero tolerance for seeing you in pain. They both fretted and hovered, and one of them had a horrible habit of just wanting to kill the source of your torment.
You worried about having them in the room during the actual childbirth.
For now though. “My lower back, can you put pressure on it a little?” Felt a tendril slip under your shirt, spreading across your back and kneading into your flesh, and instantly the seizing sensation eased. “Mm. Thanks. That helps a lot.”
“WE’LL BE AT THE HOSPITAL SOON.” He wasn’t as stealthy as he bashed the rooftop access door open with his shoulder, but you were in the middle of another contraction and couldn’t care. “OH! WE CAN SENSE THAT! HOW FAR APART ARE THEY?”
You glanced at your watch. “T-They’re speeding up. This one is only three minutes after the last one.” The symbiote had read every bit of literature that you and Eddie had brought home, twice, even pestering Eddie into going online so it could learn more. It probably knew more about childbirth than you did at this point.
Venom growled, shifting you in his grip, a thick tendril lashing around your legs, to support you as he freed his right arm and sent a webline out to another building. “HOLD TIGHT. WE CAN GET TO THE HOSPITAL BEFORE YOUR NEXT CONTRACTION.”
Blinking, you obediently curled your arms around his neck, clinging to him as he leapt off the roof. The pull of gravity felt worse than ever before, tugging at something inside you, but you didn’t comment, not when everything blurred past you at a speed you’d never experienced before.
Venom swung around a corner and rebounded off a building before sending out another line, the hand curled around your shoulders tightening a little when you hid your face against his shoulder. It was a rapid paced roller-coaster of ups and downs, pulls and pushes, the wind ruffling your hair as he crossed a quarter of the City in record time.
It was Eddie that landed in a quiet part of the Hospital’s parking lot, his left arm returning to properly cradle you. “Jesus, I didn’t know he could move that fast.”
“Neither did I,” you admitted, feeling the bit of symbiote applying pressure against your back ripple a little.
No one gave you any weird looks as Eddie carried you into the ER, though the triage Nurse was a little slow on the uptake, at least until Venom took over Eddie’s voice and snarled out that you were in labor and to call the doctor now. Then she moved.
Half an hour later - after your water broke and an ER doctor had confirmed that you were ‘officially’ in active labor (no shit Sherlock) - you were in the maternity ward, lying in an uncomfortable bed, in an itchy gown, hooked up to a fetal heart rate monitor. Your legs were in stirrups while a Nurse checked to see how dilated you were. You had a grip on Eddie’s hand, mostly because there was a sheen of white over his blue eyes, a sign that Venom was close to the surface, and you couldn’t tell if the symbiote was just curious or protective.
The next four hours went by normally, so your Nurses told you. You turned down an epidural, but accepted some painkillers. Eddie stayed by your side the entire time, helping you walk when the Nurses suggested that you walk, rubbing your back, fetching you water and ice chips when needed and talking you through the contractions. The symbiote was always just under the surface, evident by the slightly cloudy sheen that turned his eyes grey - something that only you noticed, thank God.
It wasn’t until you were almost fully dilated that the real pain started. Intense cramping, pulling, tightening, waves that left you shaking with every ebb and crest. Eddie became glued to your side, literally, as the symbiote sent out half-camouflaged tendrils, massaging your back and hips, giving you little nudges when you forgot to breathe. At the same time, Eddie encouraged you through each wave, gently using a cold cloth to wipe the sweat from your face, holding you hand when you needed and not complaining when you tried to crush his fingers.
Honestly, there were moments where you wanted to kill him for getting you pregnant.
To say you were relieved when the overwhelming urge to push finally came and a Nurse announced that you were fully dilated and ready to go. You had no idea of how long you’d been at the hospital at that point, everything had just blurred together in the rising and falling of contractions.
Nurses, a doctor for you and a pediatrician for the baby filled the room, the sudden hustle and bustle making your nerves spike a little. But by then the urge to push was massive, and you just wanted the baby out.
They allowed - funny ‘allowed’. Obviously had no clue - Eddie to get behind you on the bed so you were between his legs, back to his chest, helping you to settle into a more comfortable position. It gave the symbiote the opportunity to cover your back and sides, massaging, kneading, where ever it could touch, safely hidden from view by your gown.
You gripped Eddie’s hands and bore down during contractions, gritting your teeth at the stinging, burning, sensation. Jesus Christ, how was the world overpopulated if this is what women had to go though?
Went limp when the doctor told you to stop pushing, leaning your head back against Eddie’s right shoulder, so tired and drained. He nuzzled at you, scratchy stubble itching your cheek, the symbiote kneading your back, pressing against you.
“You’re almost there,” Eddie murmured, kissing your cheek, hands gripping yours tight.
The doctor told you to push when you could, and you shook your head a little. “I-I can’t–”
“Yeah, you can. C’mon. One more.” There was some of Venom’s voice melded with Eddie’s and you shivered as the symbiote rippled against your spine.
With a last herculean effort, your baby daughter was born. Once the doctors cleared her airway, clamped the cord, and deposited her on your chest, she started to fuss and cry. Felt the symbiote go very, very, still against you as you pulled her into a gentle hug, nestling her close to you, hearing Eddie’s breathing hitch a little as he rose a hand to rest it over her back.
“Told you you could do it,” he sniffled, pressing a kiss to your cheek again, though you knew his gaze was locked on his daughter.
Your little Jamie.
The pediatrician took her from you, briefly, cleaned her up a little and checked her over before happily announcing that you had a perfectly healthy, seven-point-two pound little girl.
It wasn’t until you were in your own room, cleaned up, with your daughter in your arms, that Venom felt safe enough to make an appearance. You kept an eye on the door as he slowly approached you, leaning down to peer at the little life in your arms.
“IS… IS IT SAFE TO TOUCH HER?” You’d never heard Venom actually sound nervous before.
“Just watch the talons,” you murmured, smiling when the blackness on his hands rippled, those wicked claws retracting.
Slowly, as if he was almost afraid of her, Venom lifted his little girl into the crook of his right arm, carefully supporting her head the way he’d obviously seen in all the books you’d brought home. Jamie was minuscule in his arms, her little face scrunched up as she slept, one hand nestled to her mouth.
You watched as he ducked his head, gently nuzzling at her, drinking in her scent, just like he did to you. “SHE SMELLS LIKE US MIXED WITH YOU. LIKE…” His voice trailed off, and you saw his pale eyes widen a little.
New motherly instincts went off. “Venom? What is it?”
He licked at her face with the tip of his tongue, blinking when she fussed a little in her sleep. “SHE SMELLS LIKE… LIKE A SYMBIOTE.”
Okay. That wasn’t as bad as your mind was thinking. “You and Eddie are her father. Of course she’d smell like you.”
“NO, MORSEL. SHE HAS YOUR SCENT, YES. BUT SHE DOESN’T SMELL LIKE A HUMAN.”
Okay. That was a little worse. “Which means what?”
One massive shoulder rose and fell in a shrug. “NOT SURE. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. NEVER KNEW WE COULD HAVE AN OFFSPRING THIS WAY.” He turned his attention back down to the baby in his arms, rumbling softly, purring to her in his own way. She fussed a little more, then opened her eyes - the same steel blue as Eddie’s eyes - and though you knew that she probably couldn’t focus her vision yet, you could swear she was looking back at him.
Venom stared back at her for a moment before his head jerked up, eyes narrowing at the doorway. Moments later, it was Eddie standing in his place, the man looking a little frazzled to suddenly be holding his daughter, though that awkwardness quickly turned into a sort of protective-Dad vibe when a Nurse walked in.
Thank God for keen symbiote senses.
After the Nurse had checked up on you and the baby, you were left alone again, Jamie back in your arms, Eddie perched on the side of the bed so he could look down at her.
“Venom thinks she might genetically, be part symbiote,” Eddie murmured to you softly, relaying the symbiote’s thoughts, since the alien had decided that staying hidden while in the hospital was safest. “That might be why she smells different to him. Which makes sense, I guess. I’m not fully human anymore.”
“I don’t care,” you frowned, keeping Jamie settled close while she nursed at your breast. Deciding that Eddie looked too bummed for such an amazing day, you rose your free hand to Eddie’s face, pulling him down for a kiss. “She’s ours and she’s perfect. So, long she doesn’t go biting the heads off of people before she’s eighteen, I can pretty much adapt to anything.”
Eddie paled a little. “Jesus, I didn’t think of that.”
You grinned as you pecked Eddie on the lips again. “And,if she ends up climbing walls and gets stuck up there, I expect one or both of you to get her down. And when the time comes I’ll even let you handle any potential boyfriends.”
“Boyfriends?!” Venom’s voice growled out of Eddie’s throat before the man whacked himself in the chest, coughing when the symbiote relinquished control.
“Calm down dude,” Eddie muttered. “That won’t be for, like, thirteen years.”
“If you’re lucky.”
“Please don’t rile him up,” he pouted, smirking when you giggled. Smiling, Eddie leaned in to kiss you again, then dropped a softer peck onto Jamie’s head. “Love you.”
“I love you, too. Both of you.”

I just read your post about Stan and Kyle's relationship and I totally agree, but I was wondering if you might elaborate on what you mean when you said Kyle acts as a moral/ethical guide for Stan? I'm not disagreeing but I'd love to hear you talk more about it
sure!
kyle is obviously the most morally fixated of the four boys and i would say after about season four or so is when they really began to take this direction with his character. whenever something transpires within the group, kyle is almost always the first to disagree w whatever plot they (’they’ almost always meaning cartman) start brainstorming to keep themselves from getting into trouble, that they should instead own up to their mistakes and take responsibility and suffer the consequences that come along w it. rarely if ever does anyone actually listen to kyle and he’s cajoled into complicity but that doesn’t stop him from offering his disapproval at every turn in the name of wanting to do the right thing. the best example of this is ‘toilet paper’ where they tp their art teacher’s house for making them stay late; kenny and stan are immediately on board when cartman suggests it but kyle is uncomfortable w the idea entirely, and after it’s done he’s racked w guilt and is seen as the weakest link in all of them b/c of his compulsion to tell the truth. we get to see kyle struggling w guilt pretty often and the apex of it is usually when some outside force is preventing or coercing him from coming clean about whatever it is he’s done. though stan and kyle both shared the whole ‘gay little speech’ element in the very beginning, it’s pretty much been exclusive to kyle for the majority of the series -- kyle is the one to always explain what they learned at the end of the episode, to tie together the moral lesson you’re supposed to take away from it
because he’s a kid, kyle can occasionally be swayed out of his conviction if the consequences are great enough for him to be afraid of (this tends to be his mom). when butters’ gets the ninja star stuck in his eye in ‘good times with weapons’, kyle initially panics and agrees with cartman’s idea to kill butters and bury him in kyle’s backyard b/c he’s so petrified by the idea of his mother finding out what he was doing. but even then his moral center comes back around, even if he doesn’t follow through; he protests the idea of taking butters to a vet instead of a hospital and later tries to get rid of his ninja weapon and instead confess to what happened. in ‘crack baby athletic association’ kyle is outraged and disgusted by what he sees as cartman exploiting the babies born addicted to narcotics and wants to expose him, but he changes his tune after learning how much money cartman is making. so he eventually joins cartman but justifies it to himself as taking care of these babies, giving them opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise get, raising awareness, etc -- even though he’s in the wrong, kyle tries to view his actions through a benevolent lens in that what he’s doing -is- the right thing; that’s why it bothers him so much when stan tells him he sounds just like cartman. stan is seeing both of their actions clearly in the same vein, but in kyle’s mind, he’s incapable of conceiving himself being in anyway like cartman and has to further delude himself into seeing the positives of his actions. he goes as far as showing up in stan’s bedroom in the middle of the night to legitimize his actions, both to himself and to stan, because stan’s opinion of him matters so much that kyle can’t move past it unless he’s able to convince stan that he’s in the right. to his credit, kyle does try to rectify his actions with the ea sports deal and building an orphanage and whatnot. two wrongs don’t make a right, but that won’t stop kyle from trying.
basically i’m just trying to fully highlight the extent of kyle’s dedication to being honest, being kind, being a good person etc. it matters a lot to him and it’s also touched on briefly now and then w regards to his being jewish -- that being a good person is important if not only for the sake of being a good person.
it’s not that stan isn’t concerned w being a good person or doing the right thing, but he has more of a selfish or self-centered impulse than kyle does. stan cares a great deal more than kyle of what people think of him and is more desperate to be accepted or liked by his peers, so he’s often subservient to the whims of passing trends and fads or following the crowd. this is a debatable point but i also think because of this stan is generally more prone to blatant egotism than kyle -- when he leads some kind of superficial crusade (’butterballs’, ‘scause for applause’, ‘bass to mouth’), it’s pretty plainly about himself and his own feelings whereas when kyle gets wrapped up in a similar power-trip it’s usually at least manifested/disguised in some cause greater than himself, even if it’s a self-centered one.
i’m gonna touch on the examples i provided above briefly:
-butterballs: stan begins the anti-bullying campaign initially out of concern for butters but when he sees how highly his classmates regard him for taking a stand, it very quickly divulges into stan riding the high of peer approval w regards to the music video, making it seen, going on dr. oz etc. kyle is the only one who finds fault with it -- “don’t act for me, stan, really” is a really caustic but honest assessment of the situation on kyle’s end b/c he sees that stan is more concerned w how his efforts are being received and praised rather than helping butters. again highlighted by their interaction in the bathroom when stan insists his video needs to be seen by everyone and kyle tells him to put it on the internet for free instead if he feels that way. stan is dumbstruck b/c he doesn’t know how to defend himself b/c he knows kyle is right, and he cares more about accolades/profit more than he does actually making any kind of grand social change.
-scause for applause: my favorite example, i think. again, stan’s refusal to take off the bracelet starts as something personal to him and very, very quickly transforms into a selfish movement about himself, ‘stanground’, b/c he loves the positive affirmation he receives as a result. craig then accuses him of having lied, and stan berates him in front of everyone in a really acerbic manner and only fuels the fire that eventually brings him down. when everyone hates stan after finding out he actually did cut off his bracelet, kyle tries to nudge stan in the right direction by urging him to tell the truth, but stan only doubles down and tries to get everyone on his side again w a convoluted scheme to make it seem as if the whole thing was intentional. when this blows up in his face, again, kyle -- without judgement -- confronts him about having asked heidi to borrow superglue the week before. stan scoffs and i think he says something like “you’re still on that, dude?” and of course kyle is! why wouldn’t he be! he doesn’t want to see his friend dig himself any further a hole than he already has.
-bass to mouth: everyone participates in the wikileaks gossip site at school but kyle; he’s the only one who has an outright problem with such an invasion of privacy, and stan tries to get him to lighten up. kyle remarks that it wouldn’t be funny if something about stan were written on there; stan responds flippantly that there isn’t, only for something about him to show up shortly after. cue stan leading the charge to find out who the site-runner is only for kyle to remind him during the meeting that, okay, now that it happened to you, it isn’t funny, right?
not necessarily in the same vein of selfishness, ‘two days before the day after tomorrow’ is another great example of kyle wanting stan to do the right thing. after they destroy the dam, cartman and stan agree not to tell anyone, but when stan is confronted by the destruction his actions have caused with the people of beaverton being trapped in their flooded homes, he feels immensely remorseful. cartman sternly demands that he not tell kyle b/c kyle will obviously try to get him to confess to what they did. stan ends up telling kyle anyway to the exact result, advising him to let everyone know he’s responsible so the people stranded can receive actual help. cartman becomes irate when he realizes kyle knows, but instead of following his advice, stan tries to do the right thing in a roundabout way: rescue the people himself so he can “do the right thing, but still lie about it.” this doesn’t work and only serves to put the boys themselves in grave danger, and kyle pleads for stan to own up to what he did if for their sake only. he calls randy and comes so close to following through only to decide against it, to which kyle is visibly angry and upset with him. by the time stan does come around to telling the truth it’s too late -- everyone thinks he’s speaking metaphorically about breaking the dam instead of literally which leaves him frustrated.
there’s more examples of this, but kyle very frequently is the first one who tries to intervene when stan gets himself in more trouble than he can handle by trying to guide him toward what’s honest and what’s right. stan is often described as the everyman or the straight man of the group, and for the most part i agree with this -- stan himself is a very average kid. but i think it helps to also look at his family dynamic; he has no siblings he can really rely on as shelly is far too volatile, and though she’s shown some moments of genuine concern and care for stan (that i love and wish there was more of!) she generally holds stan with disdain and irritation. sharon is shown to love and care deeply for stan’s well-being but is also largely unaware of the extent of his problems as her hands are usually tied up elsewhere (and doesn’t receive enough one-on-one interaction with stan for me to really comment on how well she handles those problems). randy is a fucking mess and speaking as someone w a parent who was a functioning alcoholic as randy is, i can attest to how fragile and chaotic a relationship like that can be. randy is certainly no role model of decency. i mean, christ, there’s an entire episode based around the concept of randy teaching stan how to lie effectively wherein which he demonstrates ‘tells’ for stan only to exhibit them when he tells stan he loves him. obviously this is played as a joke, but stan notices this and is rightly upset. randy, as a parent and a person, is incredibly selfish, has no sense of boundaries, acts in his own self-interest, and treats stan like a friend instead of son -- not a very good friend at that. not that randy has absolutely no redeeming qualities, but they’re few and far between, and the rare occasion we see him genuinely try to help or bond with stan usually ends up in another wacky misadventure. my point being, stan doesn’t have a very strong support system within his home and thus has to rely entirely on his own will to guide himself.
kyle is one of very few who is really ever shown to expect better of stan, to want him to be better than he is, to want him to be better for the simple fact that he should want it for himself as well -- not so he can get anything out of it.
that was what i mean by kyle being a moral guide for stan and helping keep him grounded. sorry this became so long, but i hope this answered your question!
