Please tell me more about this musical you're listening to
okay SO
i've only gotten part way through it rn i'm still listening to it but the orchestrations are so good and the lyrics are gorgeous and all of it is just. it's amazing. the score has classical orchestration as well as some electric guitar and probably a few other instruments in there that i'm missing i haven't listened to it in depth yet this is just a first listen
but it seriously is amazing so far. from what i can tell (i can't find any information on like. a plot.) it sounds to be about the life of rumi? which admittedly i don't know much about but this is of course going to lead into deeper research on my end as it always does. i heard someone on tik tok mention that they think some of the lyrics come from his poetry which is the Right Choice
if you're a fan of hunchback or the prince of egypt (movie not the musical tho that works too) this is gonna be right up your alley
UPDATE: this little blurb is from broadway world!
“RUMI: THE MUSICAL tells the story of the transformative and powerful relationship between Rumi and his mentor Shams Tabrizi. From their first encounter, it is clear that Rumi and Shams were destined to converge for greatness; two highly contrasting but brilliant minds, both seeking a higher purpose. However, the impact of this extraordinary friendship on Rumi's loyal wife, Kara, her daughter Kimya and his sons, Sultan Valed and Aladdin is clear, inviting resistance from Rumi's faithful following with increasingly intense and dramatic consequences. What was the price, that the world might receive the gift of Rumi's genius and spiritual legacy?”
