It's honestly just the first thing I thought of when first starting to reblog/post things about them and it was very early on before the fandom was big so 'Marina' wasn't really that popular for the ship name yet so I just went with that instead and I was too far in to change it lol. So everything I've tagged for my tag for them personally is with that tag so I've just continued to use it!

Sorry, one last bit of rambling. I'm trying to forcibly exorcise the cringe so I can focus on work again.

This song choice was extremely deliberate, though whether by production or Whistler remains to be seen.

I grew up listening to a lot of country music, so the first version of Make You Feel My Love I ever heard (and still the one I'm most familiar with) is the Garth Brooks cover. It was was all over the radio as a kid, a Billboard #1 single two separate times almost a decade apart, and was nominated for a Grammy. To this day, it's one of those quintessential nostalgic 90's country love songs. Now I'm a couple years younger than Lucy is supposed to be and from a place where country music is much less ubiquitous, but this is still the kind of shit I associate with weddings and proms and that sort of thing. For someone who grew up in Texas, steeped in country music from the late 90s to early 2010's, the romantic nostalgia associated with this song has to be off the charts.

There's also another cover of the song that I adore...by Trisha Yearwood. For those of you unfamiliar with niche American musical stylings, she is very famously married to Garth Brooks, was arguably a bigger star than him in the 90's to early aughts, and sings some of the best country love songs of all time. I cannot overstate the level to which they are the country power couple. It's an insanely devoted, will only go on tour together even though they could each sell out AT&T Stadium by themselves because they don't want to be apart type of relationship. They're also among the few big time artists in the genre who are vocal allies of LGBTQ folks, and they introduced one of the only out lesbian country artists I'm aware of to her fiancee and supported her professional coming out process, but I digress.

Both covers were produced a few years before they got married, to bookend the soundtrack for a 1998 romcom called Hope Floats. Not that it means anything, but there are some interesting surface similarities (infidelity, a former cheerleader, meddling family members trying to get a resistant Sandra Bullock to give Harry Connick Jr. a chance). Plus it has baby Mae Whitman in glasses and a soundtrack that absolutely slaps if you're into that kind of thing.

Some things I would love to see in the future on NCIS: Hawai'i (with Kacy glasses on just fyi), some (most) of which I know will never happen:

- a case where Lucy is a suspect and the team are all 'WE KNOW IT WASN'T YOU let's prove your innocence' and everyone else is looking for her so she hides out in Kate's apartment because no one would ever think to look for a rogue NCIS agent in an FBI agent's home (and because no one else other than The Team knows they're together) and most of the episode is Kacy, OR, a case where Kate is a suspect and her own bureau is looking for her and she hides out with The Team because they're her support system and THEY KNOW SHE'S INNOCENT, and then the Bureau is like 'give us our agent back or we shut you down' and The Team is all 'if you want her you'll have to go to through the proper channels and that will take DAYS and we'll prove her innocence in the meantime MUAWAHAHA' (evil laugh included, yes; also, can you tell I know next to nothing about how US federal agencies work?). And Lucy most of all is the Very First to say Kate is innocent and to tell the team they HAVE to clear her name, and she's there with her, holding her hand, every step of the way 😭

- Kate and Kai team-up! Kate and Jesse team-up! Kate and Ernie team-up again!

- I want too see Kacy be "more gay", for the lack of a better term, as in - interacting with other women (no more secret exes though!!!) with romantic undertones, even if there is nothing actually there (like, the other person is into Kate/Lucy but she's oblivious OR Kate/Lucy is seducing a woman for a Mission™ hehehe). Or maybe there isn't even anything romantic at all for whichever of Kacy is involved, but the other one sees it and THINKS there is 👀 which takes me to JEALOUSY. Is jealousy super healthy IRL? No. Is it The Best Thing in fiction? Hell to the yes. Imagine Lucy trying to noncommittally say to Jane, "So you and Whistler have gotten pretty close". And Mama Jane would just stare at her with her signature "what this bitch on" look, and would tell her: "Okay, 1) she's a little young for me, and 2) it should be obvious by now that Kate is head over heels in love with you." ("And if you can't see that that woman thinks the Hawai'ian sun shines out of your ass then I don't know what to tell you.")

- LUCY'S FAMILY. NOW. Especially the parents.

- Kate's family!

- More of Jesse's family 🙏

- MORE MAIN CHARACTERS IN MORTAL DANGER (but always getting away in the end)

- more Hawai'i places and locals ❤️

- AN OPENING SEQUENCE. WITH KATE.

- an NCIS: Los Angeles crossover please 🥺 I want Daniela Ruah in Hawai'i. I want Daniela Ruah speaking Portuguese in Hawai'i. And if it's not too much to ask, I want Lucy checking her out and Kate and Deeks getting jealous.

- a flashback to/more backstory on Kacy's first hookup 👀 preferably the former 👀

- a girlfriend for Kai 🤘 he needs love too

- more Kacy kisses 😘

- even more Kacy kisses 😘

- more Jane x Kate friendship 🥺 honestly, even more Kate with the team, but mostly Jane

- more two-part episodes with lengthy, fun stories. But no more Grace or whatever her name was please 😬

- a Lucy-centric episode, first, and then a Kate-centric one. Both featuring heavily in both.

- I wanna know more about Kai's time in the military and Jane's time in the CIA. And Jesse's backstory because we still know so little about him (and more Kate and Lucy backgrounds).

- more episodes with Kate ❤️ I hope Tori Anderson becomes part of the very main cast.

- more Kate in skirt/high heels and hair down/pantsuit. Those two combos, specifically.

- more Lucy and the boys.

- more Lucy looking hella gay

- more Kai and Jesse bromance, with Ernie too.

- more Lucy/Jane friendship, which we get surprisingly little of. Especially touching on Lucy's early-season insecurities. I would really, really, really like Jane to tell Lucy she's proud of her and of how far she's come 🥺

- INNER TEAM CONFLICT (and making up).

- Conflict between characters spanning more than just one episode (Kacy can't be the only one to suffer xD). Give me Good Drama™

- more of those episodes that start with a nerve-wracking scene involving one of the mains and then the "X hours earlier" trope.

- more Lucy dressed to the nines 🥵 dress (Kate deserves to see it!) and suit. GIMME BOTH.

To make matters worse, there's a LBTQIA+ golf union who's behind some schemes envolving military agents and NCIS has to take the case after one of them is found d*ad, check notes, only two lesbians in the team can do this trick and make it seem real
