Tomorrow’s the sixteenth!
On the months where I can’t think of (or don’t have time to make) anything funny to post for Tintin Day I’m trying to draw more of the supporting cast! Chang (or Tchang) is a particularly special character tied to the series starting to overcome its period-typical xenophobia and that feels pretty topical right now.

#the adventures of tintin#chang chong cheng#tchang tchong jen#josie's art#obviously being made from the 1920s onwards these comics contained a lot of; uh; signs of the times#which as modern fans we do NOT condone in any shape or form#but i really DO respect how far hergé came once he started properly immersing himself in other cultures and reflecting that in the books#and The Blue Lotus was the start of that change when tintin meets chang and has a lot of his western preconceptions challenged#we don't ignore the problems but we can respect the writer who realised he was wrong and made his characters take the same journey#ANYWAY also chang got adopted by a yeti let's not forget that whole arc#(also belatedly realised i made him look like daniel from voltron force AAAAAAAA)
