I've just watched with my little bro Sonic 3, and let me tell u guys, I refuse to believe Shadow is dead. Give my baby girl a proper conclusion. Him dying is not a proper conclusion, PERIODDDDD.

Who will remember Maria now that her grandfather and her only friend are dead? Who will be that light (Shadow) that still shines even when the star (Maria) is dead?? WHO IF NOT SHADOW GUYS?!?!?! The best choice was not to save the world by sacrificing himself and never giving him a second chance to love, NO. He was supposed to be saved and find new people (it could have perfectly been Sonic and co) that he'd once again consider as friends or family WHILE still remembering Maria!! Sonic felt Shadow's loneliness and sadness because he also lost someone dear to him and also went through a lonely period of time (remember the first movie and how sonic was dealing with loneliness at the beginning) HE COULD HAVE PERFECTLY ENDED LIKE SHADOW!

Sonic didn't end up like him because he found a family and friends that cared about him and taught him to understand that anger wouldn't lead him to anything good at the end, that he had to follow his lungs heart to make the best choices.

You see it, right? Shadow and Sonic were parallels at some point. They went through the same past but one allowed his anger to consume him because he never found a comforting family that would support him (Shadow) and the other one learnt, thanks to his family and friends, that allowing said anger to consume his heart would blind him and not allow him to take the best decisions for his family and friends (that's Sonic!)

ALSO☝️ Sonic, when he saw where Shadow was confined, said something like "if I had lived like this, I would've also turned into a villain" or something along those lines😭

I actually loved Sonic 3, btw. I freaking love this blue hedgehog and this saga of movies. I can't wait for the fourth movie because we will able to see METAL SONIC AAAAAA!1!1!1

I had a lot of fun and the production was amazing too. For the standards of younger audiences, it was a 10/10. I know, because my little bro said so, and he's a kid, so he's right, jahsjashjs

It was just that little aspect of Shadow's character that made me mildly annoyed (because he's my fave along with Tails okay😭) but I'm aware it's a kids' movie, and it has already given a lot. Seriously, it had a good and simple message, good music, good action sequences, the cgi was amazing... everything was a 10, really. I just wanted some justice for my chocolate sweet bun Shadow, that's all.

i have like an EXTREME dislike for how they completely took away his entire character in the short story, especially with the erasure of his sexuality. but even beyond that. i just. Don't understand his character??? he was big and strong and handsome and hated the weak and. then what.

id understand if there was some kind of character motive beyond being perfect and not giving a damn point blank period. like if he was trying to prove something. to strive for perfection to the point of killing others because of SOMETHING. but they don't. i don't understand the point of completely reworking this characters already established and VERY WELL IMPLEMENTED backstory for anything other than censorship.

he refused to be weak in any way, but WHY.

it's not like with ellen ( sorry i cant resist ) where she grew up in a bad neighborhood where she was treated like nothing, so she decided to MAKE herself something.

which made it hard to cope with the fact she couldn't just rise above EVERYTHING.

or like with ted where he was forced to work for his family because of their poor financial situation, but then was pulled out of that by someone who was taking advantage of him.

which caused a giant rift in his identity.

the only thing i could really gather from it is that instead of being an activist and a cautious "looker-aheader", gorrister was a truck driving alcoholic who had a bad marriage and an abusive mother in law who blamed him for driving his wife batshit crazy because he beat her. but. other than that i don't.

understand half of it. what do you mean edna killed gorrister. what do you mean Harry cut his heart out. jesse, what the fuck are you talking about.

i don't fully understand WHY we are supposed to sympathize with gorrister when he is. SOMEWHAT responsible for the mental descent of glynis. obviously edna and harry played a huge part in this, im not ignoring that at all. but the end of the psychodrama implying that gorrister should just forgive himself and bury the past because he wasn't FULLY at fault for punting wife into the looneybin. What.

once again, i don't understand the need for a complete flip of this characters original premis unless it's for CENSORSHIP purposes. alongside that at least the puzzles and the dialogue within bennys psychodrama make SENSE. gorristers just.

The whole thing with Murray’s comments and Nancy and Jon getting together…. It is set up in such a way that it can be read as a situation where an ambitious teenage girl was pressured into what she was “supposed” to be. Nancy was told by a man that she respected and who took her seriously (and was the ONLY one to do so, so Murray gained an untold amount of trust from Nancy immediately, and the show just brushing off their relationship is such a loss but ok), that in order to be her real self she must dump Steve. Now Murray was just poking at two teenagers with a metaphorical stick to see what would they do. Understandable position, as a younger sister haver love doing that also (not with romantic feelings though but Murray was never meant to be ethical). I doubt that what the comment meant for him can be easily translated into what it meant for Nancy (let alone Jon, who thinks that he is better than most people and that he is definitely better than Steve, so I imagine he was nodding along). But he did influence her into becoming an investigative journalist. Like Murray with him taking Nancy seriously influenced her into two major life altering decisions (career and significant other). Like wow. And they never interacted again! Fucking hate st continuity.

Like Nancy dumping Steve because Murray told her to do so is a major thing. It’s BAD for jancy. Before s4 I thought that they were not mentioning it because jancy happened and was the endgame. But with them toying with stancy and likely knowing that they might toy with stancy all along??? Why did they not leave it open to interpretation. It’s such a juicy storyline, it shows the magnitude of the influence that you can have on a teenage girl, it’s beautiful, it’s painful, it’s the stuff of a real love-triangle (which is hard to make interesting but that would make it interesting!!!). Why did they write it then??? Whyyyyyy?????

He and Nancy have the potential for a really interesting dynamic! It really is a shame we don't get to see more of it tbh. and you are so right in what his comment meaning to him and what it meant to Nancy and Jon separately would be so different! I don't know if Nancy would necessarily feel pressured by it, (though I wouldn't say she wasn't, either) but maybe it would vindicate something of how she was feeling about her relationship with Steve at the time and her feelings for Jonathan? Like a "oh this man I respect and who takes me seriously also thinks Jonathan is better for me, thinks I should go for it. Maybe I will..." kind of thing?

And lol yeah so true Jon just had his own conception of himself and Steve and their relationships with Nancy confirmed by Murray. he just kinda got...permission? I guess? to make a move on Nancy even though he was the one bringing up Steve both times he's mentioned on the road trip.

Totally see where you're coming from of Murray's influence not being mentioned because you figured Jancy was endgame, makes sense (if boring) to not question it if it doesn't need to be addressed as an issue because the pairing is canon for the rest. But now the teen love triangle has been brought back.... you're so right it is bad for Jancy. It brings up stuff about them that a lot of people (especially the Duffers!) don't want to deal with or acknowledge. Though I don't think they were planning the whole time to bring stancy back I think that sort of happened because the duffers unfortunately don't know what to do with Nacy if she doesn't have a boy to look at and Steve when he isn't pining over Nancy.

There's not enough time left to fully and satisfyingly delve into the issues between the original older teens, especially since some of those issues aren't treated as issues. It would be interesting to see, and also so so juicy, the complicated relationship they have with each other because of the UD etc, but I don't think a whole lot of interesting canon material will come from it (though that doesn't mean fan content can't!!) just based on how other romantic relationships and their dynamics with each other have been treated through the show. tbh I think maybe s5 will tease the love triangle but ultimately either end up with them all single (my preference) or with Jancy still together.

Canon-canon: we don't know their (miraxus) sexuality, so they can be whatever they want, they don't show any romantic interest in anyone in the PLOT of the anime/manga, in the action, not covers, etc.

Fanon-canon: Mirajane and Laxus are at least bisexuals and are prolly gonna end up together, Mashima said so, i think so, that's understandable and logical for me, i (personally) like it, cuz their personalities suit each other, that's why i wholeheartedly ship miraxus.

I don't know why but today I just woke up with another wave of love and appreciation for mv!Mapleshade warrior cats. I just auughhhhh I love her even if she isn't that intentionally well-written at all I relate to her so much you wouldn't believe that kitty is special to me, at the very least the mv!Mapleshade version of her.

It's the way she's just so out of touch and detached from reality from the moment she's introduced in mv (and maybe even for the remainder of the novella) and living in this fantasy of her and her family being Untouchable and Special, putting her utmost faith in the warrior code/the law and StarClan/God, especially believing that StarClan approves and gave her kits their blessing, and has this narrative/plot-relevant "magical thinking" about everything that happens around/to her. When Frecklewish just asks if the father of her kits is Birchface(he isn't), she thinks it is a explicit sign for her that StarClan themselves is "offering her a way for her kits to be accepted by her clanmates", everything is some sort of "sign" for her. She wholeheartedly believes that nothing bad will ever happen to her very illegal children, that everyone will just accept and love them because they're just so perfect, and that by just being born they will literally change everyone's minds about inter-Clan relationships and achieve world peace -- That they will grow up both loyal to ThunderClan and RiverClan equally, that "the truth about who their father really was would be unable to shake the loyalty of their woodland clanmates, [...] and once RiverClan gets to know them, those cats will feel the same", that "the feud over sunningrocks will be forgotten when the clans realize they share these perfect warriors". And like is this a cause of concern that this is really similiar to whatever I'm going through pretty often too like you and me both Maple. Not related but I think it's also very cool how sometimes when people talk to her or ask her something she just. Doesn't respond. And I think that everybody in the fandom just making it up to be "haha look at this delusional bitch not knowing theres consequences to her actions lol" should be punted into the sun like how is this a testament of her being an irredeemably evil terrible person to you and not like something actually very sympathetic why are you like this with every female character. Mediaposting 2024, #3: Chrono Trigger (DS Version)

Completed: January 13th (first run including sidequests) / January 20th (NG+/all endings/near-100% completion run)

Time spent: 35 hours (first run)/55 hours (NG & NG+)

Rating: 7.5/10

i'll get the easy critique out of the way first, and this is specifically a DS version issue (/maybe a steam issue too? not sure): oh my god why the fuck did they think adding the lost sanctum and dimensional vortex sidequests would be a good idea. neither of them add a single thing to the story and are literally like 15 hours of boring as hell sidequests. whyyyyyy did they add this this was PAINFUL to do as a completionist. jfc.

other thoughts under the cut because they are LONG but the TL;DR is: i enjoyed this game! i don't think it's bad at all and can absolutely see the influence it had on the genre! i think it's absolutely a game everyone who cares even a little bit about RPGs should play if they haven't already! i also don't understand why people think it's one of the best games ever made even though i think it's actually quite good in a few aspects!

i constantly had heard that chrono trigger had a very cool time travel story, and while aspects of this, absolutely, are true, there are particular parts of the time traveling that feel rather tacked-on to me. in particular, the future and extreme past eras are just....kinda there. and hilariously the same is kind of true of the present era, but that i can excuse to some extent. i don't think any of the eras are particularly bad, but the future in particular was not nearly as well utilized as it should have been, IMO, which kinda bums me out.

for me, the main issue is that it doesn't do enough with the actual 'influencing one era to cause changes in the other' thing until the endgame sidequests, and by the time you can do those, it feels a little too-little, too-late. that or there should have been a better way to space those sidequests out as you actually play the game, because they genuinely add a lot to some of the characters (FROG MY BELOVED!!!!!!!!!!! and also lucca benefits a lot from her backstory). but making basically all of them only accessible in the eleventh hour felt very counterproductive to me. the plot is honestly mostly uninteresting to me until the zeal era, and that feels far too late for a game like this. idk. i like the world as a whole but some parts of the worldbuilding itself felt very minimal to me, like i wish the idea of a Nu was discussed AT ALL. or why its like completely normal for people to hang out with monsters/non-humans in 13,000 B.C. idk. just little things but i can tell it was probably more of a system limitation thing than anything else.

that said i think the main cast is quite solid. frog is the best easily, magus is a close second (though he also runs into the same problem where a ton of his character development is laaaaateeee), but i don't hate any of the other characters at all. ayla is fun (love a fun gimmick character every once in a while) and lucca is my favorite kind of weird nerd girl character. marle's playstyle annoys me until you have all of her techs and robo becomes kind of outclassed by frog but man. frog!!!!!! my man. hes so good.

basically no one is Not a fun character. is what im trying to say. i don't think they're all super deep characters, which bothers me a lot more than it probably should for a fucking 90s jrpg, but i like all of them a little bit, which is more than i can say for some games.

also, and this is more of a gameplay structure thing: i really appreciate how chrono trigger praises the player for being patient and for being kind. this is late game, but once you can unlock the chests i LOVE how you get upgraded rewards if you chose to not unlock them in the past. its so smart. that and the cases where your very small actions end up affecting things as minimal as the shopkeepers you can interact with? mwah. so good.

music: everyone always praises the hell out of the music and i do think there are some great tracks (CORRIDORS OF TIME MY BELOVED), but even for the era i dont think its truly exceptional in most ways. not bad at all and i know they had technical limits but.....still. still. corridors of time fucking sweeps them though. my god. what a good song.

art: okay yeah i dont have anything to say here. fucking amazing spritework going on in this game. enemies can be kind of whatever if they're not bosses but the fucking overworld/background art. the amount of emotion that is portrayed in a few pixels is astounding to me.

battle system: has aged so well and as soon as I started playing it i just went "OH THATS WHERE TWEWY GOT THE RELOAD SYSTEM FROM" because its almost a direct straight line of influence LOL. it really does force you to understand the mechanics and not just spam everything with your most powerful attacks. does get a little bit eh by the endgame once you're doing all-field-damage attacks out of necessity, but still. solid. not particularly unique by today's standards but if a game TODAY came out with this system i would have no complaints.

by this point you're probably saying "wow you wrote a lot about this for a game you think is a 7.5/10" and...yeah lol sorry. its just that i can see the influence and while i dont think its the BEST GAME EVAAAR i can absolutely see why people adore it so much. i think im just a slightly different time of rpg fan and this didn't quite scratch the itch for me in all the ways i was hoping it would, but there is no way in hell i can call it bad. i still think anyone who likes video games at all should play it. it just didnt scratch a very specific itch in my brain that i wanted it to (/it was less of a character story than i really like in my games), and so i cant quiiiite bump it up to that 8/10 i wish it so badly was. but theres a reason its a classic, it's aged incredibly well. just doesn't fit my niche enough.

that said. am i playing chrono cross after this? absolutely LOL. might take me a while but i am invested enough in this world to be interested in it. hopefully theres a bit more worldbuilding stuff bc the zeal stuff was SO GOOD but then it got crammed into the last 5 hours and hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i wanted so much more foreshadowing about it. god. anyway.

I am soooooo confused and upset by how they changed the story from the books. You have everything, the perfect cast, the perfect settings, simply outstanding wardrobe, people who understand the assignment, and then you go and change major plot points TO WHAT END?

I get the merging storylines for maximum fandom engagement, I get wanting to cram some of the more important ship moments into this season in case there isn't a renewal or whatever. I even get skipping over some amazing details like the Sun Soldiers and Alina's hair turning white and having an actual audience of lay people at the pyre because budget restrictions, I guess. But everything was soooo rushed, it flattened so many aspects of character development.

Yes, the wesper scenes are to die for, I will kill for show Wylan, but why give them a previous history when so much of it in the books is about them slowly discovering each other?

And what the fuck was that about the triumvirate??? DAVID WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE. What they did to David is unforgivable. And I don't mean giving him more awareness of his surroundings than in the books, I mean not giving him all the time he should have had with Genya. IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE THIS WAY (and that would have been so much more impactful coming at a time when they thought maybe they had things a little in control, not in the heat of battle).

Why move the whole Alina-Mal-Nikolai triangle in this bizarre order? At first I figured they weren't even going to go down the Korol Reznoi route, but they instigated it at the very end instead of "resolving" Nikolai's monster issues the death of Kirigan (side-eye at calling him anything except the Darkling btw), which means they DO think or hope they'll get renewed for another season, which means they had time to do the whole "we're spending time actually underground and I don't have my powers for a while and then there's the distance with Mal" thing. Whyyyyyy send Mal away *after* the Fold instead of before?? Uuuuugggghhhhhhhhh

I swear it's not just the migraine annoying me. We could have had it all and they threw it away.

RE4R Thoughts So Far (Separate Ways)

Putting this under the cut bc I trash tf outta this game. You've been warned.

THE TLDR VERSION:

Both Ada and Wesker do not behave consistently. They act OOC through the entire game. This ruins it for me. I can't connect to them because they feel like an insert instead of a living, breathing human. Their reactions to situations don't line up with their established personalities. Resident Evil has never been known for its depth of story or character, but it's 2024. Catch up ffs. Also, there is a large enough voice speaking out about Ada Wong's RE4R VA and her lackluster portrayal. *shrugs* I agree. She did a piss-poor job. And why was Wesker babysitting her? Way fucking OOC. Lastly, Wesker's VA was trying too hard to sound evil and it served more to irritate me. SMH.

THE "ME RANTING LIKE A FUCKING WILD WOMAN" VERSION:

Ada Wong's VA grates the fuck outta me. She sounds like a bratty teenager; then, at other times she sounds like a middle-aged mom reading a spy novel imagining herself as a badass. I cannot stand the sound of Claire Redfield's VA, but she does a fantastic job as Claire. She understands Claire better than this VA understands Ada.

Wesker. Wesker, Wesker, Wesker. FFS he's OOC and his storyline makes no logical sense. His VA grates my god damn nerves, too. By this point, he has graduated to super villain status. He doesn't need to be in Spain. He wouldn't be in Spain. WTF is he doing in fucking Spain? The Krauser storyline doesn't count fuck off.

Wesker saving Ada. Why? He wouldn't even bother. He'd have hired someone else. Clean, surgical and with the least amount of loss. Ada isn't the only one in her line of work and she certainly isn't the only one who succeeds at it. The only reason for him to show up is to kill Ada, especially if he doesn't trust her. SMH. I'm sick and tired of these writers not challenging themselves to dish out better storylines for characters. Imagine if Wesker became Ada's enemy and they were fighting one another to retrieve the sample instead of Ada's battle with Krauser. Leave Krauser for Leon. Let Ada and Wesker kick the shit outta each other behind the scenes. Come the fuck on. I still can't get over Wesker showing up like a candy-ass. It's more logical to hire another merc... or even a TEAM of mercs.

Ada's storyline. She has apparently read files on the village, but she isn't in Spain before Leon? She doesn't know about the president's daughter? She doesn't know about the creature who infects her in the first five minutes? WTF. The original storyline of her actually doing her homework and arriving there before Leon was better. It has a stronger foundation, and you take Ada more seriously. Wesker pep talking Ada through the story feels OOC, too. As if he'd waste his fucking time BABYSITTING her. No way. Ada is supposed to be a professional, completely independent and efficient. Yet this bitch needs her hand held the whole fucking time.

Okay... I just witnessed a scene with Wesker actually saying he's not there to babysit her. THEN WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING THERE, BRO? Writers, wtf. What the actual fuck?! Why are you so fucking LAZY? WHYYYYYY? And Ada's half-assed line afterwards: "Easy with the threats Wesker!" Not only was the line trash, the delivery from the VA was trash, too. Fuck. The writing and acting is lackluster af.

Ada's written dialogue. Yeah... NO. Again, sounding like a wannabe badass. So much of her thought process just peeves me. And her getting infected? Whut? I thought Ada was a character that did her homework?! By this point in the timeline, she has achieved her status as a force to be reckoned with. This is one of the reasons why Wesker hires her. The VA attempts to project professionalism through the dialogue, but it just comes off as stiff, nervous and bitchy. She sounds fake and the VA gives the impression that Ada is waaaaay out of her league. Jolene Anderson invited warmth into her portrayal of Ada Wong. You could sense that there was a real struggle with Ada's journey in RE2R, but there was also a strength of spirit that impressed upon the audience. We knew she was a badass. Here... it's vapid.

I'm tired of mediocre stories and lazy character portrayals. They had a chance to remake this game and turn it into something multilayered and powerful. Instead, they just rode off of the wave from the original RE4 and the RE2R. All characters start out as generic. We have archetypes we follow: the hero, the seductress, the super villain, the damsel in distress. What elevates them beyond generic is when they become human. When we as an audience can CONNECT to them and pick out the little idiosyncrasies that make them who they are (and those idiosyncrasies are consistent with the character and their development). Nic Pizzolatto said it best, "The only place anything comes alive is in character." And here, when referencing season one of True Detective, "I think the vision of the story was dictated by the characters and how they behaved in the circumstances I set out for them. [...] The trajectory of their personal arcs and where the journey took them was much more interesting to me with them left alive and altered in some way."

As someone who struggled with suicidal thoughts I find this rhetoric downright unethical and harmful. Because Gale sacrificing himself IS a depiction of suicide and saying that this could be the right way is just... Just despicable for lack of better word.

It's not just this interview, many people who hate on Gale seem to not realise or don't care that they're hating on traits and qualities that very real people around them have. So yeah - if you're depressed and autistic go die go suffer we will laugh at you. To which there's only one answer - fuck you. Your lack of empathy and thought says everything about you and nothing about me. I'm glad I'm seeing it now and not back when my depression hit hardest and I genuinely thought everyone would be better if I died.

And I can't express how sorry I am for anyone who ever had such thoughts. It's not your fault, you're not the problem, not the burden, this thoughts are not true. You deserve to receive help, you can live a happy life, find your people and be youself knowing you're perfect the way you are.

And I think such lazy ill-considered statements about suicide don't receive enough hate and negative feedback but I will do my best to deliver it. Because what the actual fuck?!

Oh, and afterthought about the statement "Gale's suicide is right ending" storywise. Have that person even played fucking game? Because destroying the Absolute with the orb means everyone infected exept main heroes will turn mindflayers. Unless I'm missing something our heroes' transformation is held back by Emperor, and everyone else's by Netherbrain in order to control them with tadpoles. So destroying the brain without taking control over it means everyone infected will undergo usual ceremorphosis process. WHICH IS PERFECT WAY TO DEPICT SUICIDE - IT IS FUCKING TRAGEDY NO ONE IS LEFT HAPPY WITH IT!

And another thing, minor compared to the previous one - what in the fuck is this scene when you're romancing Gale but think about orb before the final fight?! Like, you've been dissuading him all this time, showering him in love and acceptance and still you can say something like "hey love mind killing yourself after all"?! Why?! Whyyyyyy?! Imagine if you could suggest romanced Astarion to eat rat or fuck him without consent. You can't, right? So apparently Larian have understanding what inappropriate behaviour towards your traumatized partner is. THEN WHY THE FUCK IS THIS SCENE THERE WHEN YOU ROMANCE GALE?!

What happened???

Basically, FrukMeRunning (Rayanne) made an Instagram story talking about how it's inherently racist to assume all of the Asian characters in Hetalia are related, specifically mentioned Nichu (JapanxChina) as an example of a ship that she doesn't think is incest.

People saw this post and immediately and incorrectly assumed that she shipped Nichu; because of this, tons of people began sending her hate messages (telling her to commit suicide, calling her a pedophile/incest supporter, etc). Eventually, somebody ended up doxxing her, and she deleted all of her social media accounts.

Once she deleted her accounts, some of the people who had initially attacked her went "Oops! Sorry, turns out she's not a proshipper! My bad!" and began to aggressively market Rayannes Redbubble, assuming that it would be enough to make up for what they did.

I'm usually not one to post about controversies (even when I made a post or two about the infamous blocklist, I ended up deleting them because I don't want my social media accounts to be associated with those things), but this particular case is just so infuriating to me.

Rayanne is an incredible artist and person, and she was wrongfully bullied off of her platforms for LITERALLY NO REASON AT ALL. She didn't even ship Nichu! And even then, let's assume for a minute that she did ship it:

Who fucking cares if someone ships two fictional characters? THEY ARENT REAL. You can't use somebody shipping something you don't like as an excuse to send them death threats? What the fuck is wrong with you guys? How rotted does your brain have to be to make you think thats at okay in any scenario? People were telling her to commit suicide and then acting like they were some sort of hero.

The worst part is that the people who did it to her will face absolutely zero consequences whatsoever. I KNOW they won't, because some of the people who harassed her are making posts on Twitter just saying "Oops, I feel bad! Buy from her Redbubble!", and their followers are replying like "omg it's ok! take care of urself!🥺", completely ignoring the magnitude of what the person did. She got doxxed. Nobody involved in the harassment deserves to be so easily forgiven. This isn't a case of "we accidentally hurt someone's feelings!", it's a case of "we greatly misunderstood and overreacted to a situation and ended up essentially ruining someone's life!".

If any of the people involved in the harrassment are reading this, I say this from the bottom of my heart: truly, sincerely, go fuck yourself. Go outside and realize what it's like to be a rational human being again.
