And hey, new users, I know when you go to customize your blog, there's a whole bunch of custom themes that cost money? No need to pay! Those themes are pretty mid anyway.

Blog themes have been an art form on tumblr for YEARS. Most theme-makers will make them for free (and sometimes accept paid commissions for specialized themes too, but there's so many gorgeous themes that are 100% free and made out of love)

Here's a few of my old favorites I go back to time and again.

I recommend following the link or clicking through to their proper blog pages because they all have navigation that includes theme tags, rules for use, and instructions for how to get these lovely themes on your blog and tailor the colors and images for your heart's desires!

EvilQueenedThemes (@evilqueenedthemes) - Old school style themes. They haven't updated since back in 2017, but their themes are neat and easy to navigate. A style that's actually coming back into fashion online. If you know CSS their themes are also pretty easy to tweak if you want something a few pixels to the left or want to add or subtract elements. Just make sure to keep the credit because they worked hard on these themes. Their themes are good for blogs that need some basic navigation and are meant to be read (like writing blogs, comic blogs, research blogs, etc.)

Yukoki / Xuethms (@yukoki / @xuethms ) - A good variety from no-frills to all out party! They're older themes are on yukoki (click "view archive" on the moved blogs popup) and the newer ones on xuethms. Their themes are easy to use and tend to have a good blend of dynamic and stationary elements. One thing I love about their themes is just how customizable colors are! They build in a lot more color and image customization than most themes do. You can always edit colors in the CSS, but it's nice to not have to go into the code to do so. Though, honestly, a lot of their default theme color pallets are already so gorgeous. 10/10! Excellent choice if you have a specialized topic blog that you want to look schnazzy and fit with your content theme.

ShuDesigns (@shudesigns) - The first place I go when I need a theme! Easy to use both from the blogger and follower side! Their themes are clean, neat, stylish, and have a good variety of layouts. I can't recommend their themes enough! Hanging out in a blog with one of their themes is just a pleasant experience.

octomoosey (@octomoosey) - If you like style, if you like to be extra, if you like to go ALL OUT, then octomoosey is THE theme-maker for you. They're like a CSS god. You ain't seen the breadth of what a tumblr theme can be 'til you've seen an octomoosey theme. I don't have the words to describe how wild some of their themes are. Seriously, just take a look through their theme archive. Excellent choice if you want something cool and wild with that wow factor. Best for blogs with short form content, since most of their themes have relatively smaller containers for the posts.

These are just some of my favorite theme-makers here on tumblr. There's also plenty PLENTY more! If you search "theme hunter" or you can go to the actually blog Theme-Hunter (@theme-hunter), click on/hover over "More" on the navigation bar, and they have a whole system of tags to find just the right theme for you! They also have a lot of good resources if you're interested in learning theme-coding yourself, or just want some tips on tweaking pre-made themes.

Okay.

I don't often gush about movies on this blog. Hell, I don't often go to the movies anymore. I just don't have the attention span for it. And I honestly was going to give this one a miss until someone who's opinion I trust was adamant that I needed to see this film right now on the biggest screen possible while I still had the chance. So, FOMO out won over, and I went to go see Godzilla Minus One in Imax.

Look, I've been a Godzilla fan practically all my life. My family used to rent those old english dubs of the films on VHS from Blockbuster in the early nineties. I grew up with these monsters. But I have to admit, I've never seen the original, nor have I seen Shin Godzilla. To me, Godzilla is about one thing and one thing only.

Fuck.

Yeah.

Gimme the big monsters just going HAM on each other. Rubber suits, CGI, I don't care! I want the big boys with beef to beef with a large side of cheese!

I guess that's why Godzilla 2014 ultimately left me feeling kind of cold while I absolutely loved KOTM despite how stupid a lot of it was. I just want my big monsters absolutely wrecking shit.

This was different. I knew it was going to be different. A remake of the original Godzilla, this time from the viewpoint of the common citizens still trying to get their lives together after WW2? I knew I was in for some heavy drama.

What I didn't expect was one of the most amazing theater experience I have ever had.

And I'm not just saying that because the movie is good, even though it is.

I'm not just saying that because it's a goddamn masterpiece, even though it is.

I'm saying that because it's about as close to perfect of a film as you can get, and not just of a Godzilla movie, but just as a movie!

Like, it's a running joke that you can cut the human characters out of any Godzilla movie. Here, you could cut Godzilla out and still have a great movie. That's how good the human side of things was.

Like, you really grow attached to these people who have literally lost everything. You grow invested in their struggles, in their relationships, in their baggage, in their love for one another. You come to care about them and are genuinely happy as they eke out a new life after having their homes literally blown to bits. You just want to see them succeed and be happy together.

And that's when Godzilla shows up.

This movie is called Godzilla Minus One in reference to how post-war Japan was basically a Zero Society, left devastated by the conflict. And these people who literally were left with nothing suddenly find even that ripped away as an enormous monster just starts rampaging through the recovering cities.

And this time, Godzilla isn't an avenging hero. He's not a destructive anti-hero. He's not a fun mascot. He's not even a poor, suffering monster unaware of the destruction that he's wreaking. This Godzilla is goddamn menace, an outright monster that is absolutely terrifying. He wants to crush, kill, and destroy. This is Godzilla at his most actively malicious, and all you can do is gape up in horror with these people that you've come to care so much about, wondering how in the hell are they supposed to deal with this!

I won't give away how the day is eventually saved, only to say that it is a masterclass of character-driven suspense and emotion. You honestly come to root for the humans for once. You want to see them succeed, and are genuinely in fear for their lives. No exaggeration, I had my heart in my throat and tears in my eyes all throughout the climax. I don't cry during movies, and this movie made me sob like a baby. It was that good.

And it also had so much to say! Not only about Japan's collective trauma following the nuclear bombs or the other bombing raids like the original, but also about how the Japanese government dehumanized its own people during the war, treating them as expendable resources to fuel the war machine. The main character is a freaking kamikaze pilot who lost his nerve and abandoned his mission, and that plus another act of what he saw as cowardice haunts him throughout the movie, and while it realistically shows how such a person would be treated like a pariah by his former friends and neighbors, it is nothing but sympathetic toward him. He blames himself constantly, but the narrative never seems to.

And there's just this wonderful moment near the end, when it's clear that the government isn't coming to the rescue, so it's up to the common man to band together and find a solution, when a few men leave the mission for fear of their lives and that of their families, and are not condemned for it. And the scientist spearheading the whole thing gives this lovely little speech about how carelessly life has been treated during the war, from the kamikazes to the poorly maintained supply chains to how the common folk were left to fend for themselves, and he hopes to just once be able to secure a win that doesn't sacrifice any more lives. Wow.

I know it's probably too late for anyone else to see it, because I'm pretty sure it's theatrical run ends today. I just wanted to get this review off my chest, because wow, this was the best movie I've seen all year. What a goddamn masterpiece.

Anyways transfem noir headcanons (or should I say noire)

Her name is Penelope, she gets Penny'd and it drives Peni nuts (she also considered Petra, Bridgette, and Belladona). You'll will have to pay her to give up Penelope.

She found out after talking to Gwen, and she mentions something that Gwen recognises because she's been there, and she's like, "hey, you probably wont react well to what I'm about to say, but I think youre a trans woman." And Penelope's like "what? No, couldn't be me." Anyways they spend the next two weeks talking to a bunch of trans spiders and the therapist spider man and by the end of it Penelope's like "aw shit, this explains a lot." (At the same time they discover she's autistic. It's a very enlightening two weeks.)

Everyone's really opening and happy for her and she gets lots of hugs. Her favourite response was from Hobie, who said "I thought you already knew?"

The adults like to middle name her when she's in trouble. She mostly gets "Penelope Barnadette Parker"'d or "Penelope Bridgette Parker"'d, but on one occasion, from Miguel of all people, "Penelope Adrianna Parker," which scared the shit out of her (for obvious reasons if you're familiar with my blog)

Felicia and May find out completely by accident and are also really accepting, with Fel saying "I always wanted a daughter, just like you." Teresa and Eddie were also told. Eddie was like "damn I'm being overrun by sisters. Congratulations little sis." And Teresa's like "ooh yay! I prefer having a sister than two brothers!"

Felicia, May and Teresa go out and find some nice dresses and stuff, and Eddie starts gaslighting New York that Penelope's their cousin, Peter's gone to live with their other aunt and uncle.

The spider god help disguise Penelope's really recognisable features like her eyes and her teeth when they do this.

She's been invited to girls' day outs with Jess, Gwen, Margo, Peni and LYLA. She doesn't go often because oh god people, but she tries to go as often as she can. The first time she comes along after finding out/coming out, she gets pulled through the women's section in several clothes stores in several different worlds so they can find her some new clothes. LYLA pays for it all from Miguel's funds and justifies it as a birthday present. When Penelope's like "it's not my birthday", LYLA says "well, recently was the birth of the real you, and I count that."

No one actually knows when Penelope's birthday is, so they all just decide to celebrate her coming out day as her birthday

Now this all with Penelope in the spider society, and there's no way she'd actually stick around, so I'd like to quickly go over that: Penelope and Ham are both told that Miles's world can't be located, and just don't get told about "canon events" because Penelope is absolutely a murder risk.

Penelope gets kicked out the day she finds out that Miles' location is known, Miguel just hates him for no reason, she flips out in typically the Spider fashion, and attacks him. He slices through her hair with his claws in the attack and traps her in one of those red cage thingies.

The adults are desperately telling him not to send her home, it's not safe, the portal will open where she left from and that was in the middle of a men's prison. Ham goes on strike after Miguel sends her back, agreeing with Hobie and Margo that they'll try to find Miles then skidaddle. Ham goes to her world to help protect her until they can find Miles.

Ham helps clean up her hair cut while she cries because she hates her hair being cut and she doesn't want it to go too short, but Miguel sliced it to just above her shoulders. Ham tidies it so it's just below her chin, and he makes sure to style it so it's as wild and volumous as she usually keeps it in an attempt to cheer her up.

She pads her uniform vest, justifying it to the others as some "extra armouring", so it looks like she has breasts, albeit small. She doesn't want anything big.

She also changed the trousers for something more baggy so her crotch just looks a bit like the trousers pinned in strangely when she attached her leg holsters

Margo paints her nails/claws different colours sometimes

Gwen showed her how to do makeup to make her face shape look a bit different. She only uses it when she's out with the girls, and leans into a sort of goth punk aesthetic. This leads to people thinking her natural eye colour is just some really funky eye contacts and it's the only time she doesn't feel horrible about them.

She's got a bit of a reputation in Gwen's world for a number of reasons but mostly for beating up four men while wearing heeled boots (they were spikey, she will admit, but she barely kicked them). In Gwen's world, if you're gonna be a dick, you gotta fear the yellow eyed goth chick taking away your breathing privileges

Ham Radio & More was a radio show about amateur radio that was broadcast from 1991 through 1997. More than 300 episodes of the program are now available online as part of the Digital Library of Amateur Radio & Communications (DLARC).

Ham Radio & More was the first radio show devoted to ham radio on the commercial radio band. It began as a one-hour show on KFNN 1510 AM in Phoenix, Arizona, then expanded to a two-hour format and national syndication. The program’s host, Len Winkler, invited guests to discuss the issues of the day and educate listeners about various aspects of the radio hobby. Today the episodes, some more than 30 years old, provide an invaluable time capsule of the ham radio hobby.just some of the HR&M cassette tapes

Len Winkler said, “I’m so happy that the Digital Library of Amateur Radio & Communications took all my old shows and made them eternally available for everyone to hear and enjoy. I had the absolute pleasure, along with a few super knowledgeable co-hosts, to interview many of the people that made ham radio great in the past and now everyone can go back and listen to what they had to say. From the early beginnings of SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) to Senator Barry Goldwater to the daughter of Marconi. So much thanks to the Digital Library of Amateur Radio & Communications for doing this amazing service.”

Other interviewees included magazine publisher Wayne Green, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Bob Heil, Bill Pasternak, Fred Maia, and other names well known to the amateur radio community. Discussion topics spanned the technical, such as signal propagation, to community issues, including the debate over the Morse code knowledge requirement for ham radio operators—a requirement eventually dropped, to the benefit of the community.

The combined collection is now available online: a total of 464 hours of programming, most of which have not been heard since their original air date. The collection represents nearly every episode of the show: only a few tapes went missing over the years or were unrepairable.

1. Lancer and/or Vysehrad, my OCs. There's info and refs in the tag on my blog, as well as a playlist for vibes! (I apologize for the wall of text for this one I just have a lot of thoughts about them)

Doomed yuri <3 Vysehrad is an Earthmover with a cathedral on her back, left abandoned in a field when her power began to fail at the beginning of the New Peace. She's slowly dying, no longer able to move but drifting in and out of consciousness on the rare occasions that enough sunlight makes it through the clouds. Lancer, a much smaller war machine/scraphead, is sort of her bodyguard-wife. Imagine if you fell in gay love with a mosquito who has sworn to protect you in exchange for an endless supply of blood. They both die tragically because this is ultrakill we're talking about

Notes: Vysehrad is 400m high and Lancer is a little over 2 meters, but that does make it really hard to draw them together so feel free to disregard! The architecture doesn't have to match exactly or even be particularly detailed so long as it's recognizable as a Gothic cathedral in vibes; feel free to simplify or keep it sketchy/silhouette. Vysehrad hasn't been able to stand or raise her head since the end of the war. Neither of them have canonically been to Hell (Vysehrad is permanently stuck in a sometimes-snowy field of dead sunflowers) but don't let that stop you.

I'd love any art of them together, or separately. Would love to see Lancer committing acts of incredible violence or Vysehrad with some dead sunflowers or something, or maybe Vysehrad still active during the war, or whatever strikes your fancy- go ham, go violent, go lesbian, go silly

(I will not bore you with the essay I could write about their relationship and about how anything one could call 'love' between them stems from being mutually, inextricably dependent on each other. The way that both of them know all too well that the only reason Lancer is capable of something resembling caring is because their basic needs are being met, knowing that their ability to rise above animalistic brutality is temporary and they'll go back to the mindless bloody struggle for survival just like every other machine as soon as Vysehrad inevitably dies and takes their infinite fuel source away from them. About Lancer not being able to tell whether their caring for Vysehrad is for purely selfish reasons or not. About how Vysehrad, despite her capacity for destruction, is used to carrying an entire human city on her back and is profoundly lonely now that they're gone and needs to devote herself to someone to stave off the existential terror of impending nothingness, needs Lancer to make what's left of her life worth living because without them there's nothing for her to do but stare at the ground and wait to die, and AHEM ANYWAY)

2. Ceti, shameless self-insert OC and world's most ADHD machine. Maybe chillin' underwater in Wrath looking at fish or partying it up in bisexual lighting or absolutely covered in blood idk just have fun!!

3. Gabriel or literally any machine in a Czech kroj. Put those things in dresses!!!! Or goth outfits, that would also go hard.

🐱 Who's your favorite song cat and why?

This beautiful boy!!

Munkustrap is the guy just trying *so hard* to keep this crazy, adorable clown car on the road. He's the Straight Man. He's the Storyteller, the Wrangler of Kittens, the Protector. He's brave and strong when he needs to be but inexpressibly soft as well.

When I think "Song Cat" I think Munkustrap because I consider Pekes & Pollicles to be *his* song. It's not cats if Munkustrap isn't being Amateur Theater Director/Lead performer and Herding Cats into playing Dogs so he can show off to Old Deut.

He's also an amazing Multi-tasker - watch him Hold a Munkustance (with required attached kitten), acknowledge Cori and Tanto offscreen, give said kitten a gentle pat and reassuring smile, acknowledge Jellyorum, and send Mistoffelees to fetch Old Deuteronomy. All in the space of two seconds!

🔥 Share one (1) hot take/opinion about the show/fandom/etc

OK. This is going to be Spicy. So fair warning this is a take/rant and not meant to attack anyone - only the people directing and producing the show. Not expecting everyone to agree with me. But some things I gotta say:

Both Original Pekes and Pollicles are incredibly important to the meaning and flow of the show, actually. For some reason people want to cut Cats to pieces in a way they won't with other musicals. Can the outdated racist elements be easily written out and the words and sequences easily update? Absolutely! Will ALW and RUG ever put in the actual effort to do this? Nope.

I loathe the bizarre mashing of P&P and Growltiger that spread from the Broadway revival. It shows no understand of either number, and entirely fails to remove the problematic parts that were there to begin with. Pekes and Pollicles is my favorite number and it's Munkustrap's Song. Take it away and you've taken away an integral part of his character and importance. Munkustrap isn't the Back Up - he's the leader. It's such a fantastic moment for every performer to ham it up to their heart's content. Everything is goofy and funny and unscripted. Tugger gets to cause chaos twice! Munkustrap gets to show off his acting chops and be *more* than just the guy who's always standing in a triangle with kittens and occasionally getting thrown across the stage.

Growltiger is, and I don't know how many time I have to say this, A Flashback. It's Gus's Senior Moment. It's Gus fading back into his memories while the cats sit around and wonder who Grandpa is talking to and bowing to. It's Gus seeing the audience when no one else does. He sings "Do it again" softly to himself, echoey, as the lights fade and so do the cats around him. The number itself is in Panto Tradition, and it's hilarious. It's meant to be silly and over the top and Growltiger is obviously Cartoonishly evil. Put Gilbert back in his proper place, rewrite lines as needed, keep the new Siamese costumes, and have the crew sneak off to signal the Siamese (who are obviously the Good Guys in this scenario. Griddlebone can be in Cahoots, too). Give me my Pirate Cats back!

When the scene fades to bells, Gus is left alone, with the cats once again surrounding him, concerned. He is startled by the apparition, bows once again to what he sees, but others do not, and eventually slowly and sadly makes his way off the stage. It *is* sad. It's meant to be! It's why ALW brought in Sir John Mills to place Gus in 1998.

Squishing P&P together with Growltiger and giving to Gus instead of Munkustrap completely negates the entire point of Gus in the first place. Gus is old. His song is about his past glory days. Jellyorum sings for him because he can't. He is revered and loved and respected. Having him suddenly jump up and star in/direct a whole play and then bow off the stage with flowers makes absolutely NO sense. It cheapens the pathos.

🐾 How did you 'discover' Cats?

So I was taken to see Cats as a child like every single child in the 80s. I have vivid memories of them climbing all over the theater and thinking that was amazing - but I hated the makeup. I thought they didn't look like cats at all, and humans-pretending-to-be- cats was a pet peeve of mine (I still have issues with the "Cowardly Lion" in The Wizard of Oz. Of course I was familiar with the main songs, but never saw the musical again.

UNTIL went looking for video of the actual stageplay after making myself watch the movie. Weirdly, I'd never been ware of 98 before. The first scene I watched in full was Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer. And that's when I realized that "Cats" was about dance - the choreography was incredible - and I was hooked! And then I watched "Old Deuteronomy" and the music was so beautiful and I just fell in love with the whole musical. I've now actually circled the globe just to see it and my love for it has only grown.

Trainspotting is my first one, I got it from my love of trains, and my love of trains I inherited from my dad. Radio I don't even remember how it started, probably I read some unsolved mysteries blog and stumbled upon number stations.

I haven't seen any in ages, but probably red.

Have you ever fostered an animal?

No, and I don't think it'd be a good idea because I would probably get too attached to it.

Anthony’s Stupid Daily Blog (1009): Wed 25th Dec 2024

Got woken up early by the pest telling me to come down and watch her open her presents. Last year I spent over a hundred quid on her but this year Lauren and Mam have already bought everything on the list she wrote out so I’ve had to scramble to find shit that isn’t too similar to stuff she’s already bought. I got her a dinosaur toy, a game based around ancient Egypt and what I thought was a table top role playing game based around superheroes similar to Dungeons and Dragons but it’s actually a choose your own adventure book. She didn’t seem overly keen on any of the presents I got her but as long as I got her something that’s the main thing and I’m sure once I smash up all her other toys with a hammer she’ll be inclined to give my gifts a fair shot. I got a nice goodie bag from Mam and Lauren but as I was taking it upstairs it snagged and ripped on the bannister and all the sweets, socks and cans of alcohol free beer tumbled down the stairs. I’ve heard of a goodie bag avalanche but this was ridiculous. Mam made a lovely lunch complete with vegan pigs in blankets and I absolutely stuffed by the end that I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to fit through the door to my room. Later on Luna came up and pestered me to play her stupid new games with her but I was too exhausted and filled with fake ham. She angrily said to me “You promised you’d play with me on Christmas” to which I replied “I meant next Christmas” causing her to skulk off in annoyance. At just before midnight the sound of my stomach turning my Christmas dinner into a giant shit ebbed for just a second which was long enough for me to hear some shouting from the street. I looked outside and the tosser from across the road was angrily lumbering through the streets without any shoes screaming his head off (I’m guessing his uncle promised to play with him on Christmas but ate too many pigs in blankets too). He kept returning to his front door, trying unsuccessfully to open it and then going removed to his wheelie bin and slamming the lid several times. I imagine him and his girlfriend had some sort of fight that was so intense that she kicked him out of the house and didn’t seem to mind if his feet dropped off due to frostbite. Actually if his feet did drop off I think this would make him ecstatic because then he could crawl to the job centre and gloat about now he has a reason not to look for work other than he just doesn’t want to. I sat staring at him out of the windows for an hour to make sure he didn’t go near my car because if he did Luna would have got her wish to play with me on Christmas because I would’ve woke her up and invited her outside to play a game of Bury The Dead Yob.

My opinions on callouts

Sometimes I see a callout going around and I think oh yeah that was definitely warranted. A lot of the time, I see callouts going around that I don't fully agree with or that in some aspects could have been written better but I understand the other parts. I tend not to reblog these though because when it comes to serious things like that I only want to reblog things that I endorse 100% unless I add commentary, and I don't usually add commentary because it's not the hill I want to die on. And sometimes, whether a callout is warranted or not, it will have been done out of spite--which is not something I would ever want on my blog. A lot of the time though, if a callout is very long and involves a situation I have no familiarity with--to be honest, I can't even read it. Not even because of the content or anything. It's because my brain is just completely unable to parse that much text & that many screenshots' worth of information about conflict. I also don't end up reblogging these even if I do see enough to know I should avoid the people called out because given the fact I don't reblog anything serious that I don't completely endorse, I also don't reblog anything serious that I haven't read all the way through because when it comes to accusations I am a massive stickler about seeing everything with my own eyes.

No matter what, the reason I don't feel like doing them anymore--or even trying to warn people in private as much as I used to in my now-long-ago college days--is because I've learned the hard way that no matter HOW justified your callout is, SOME FUCKSHIT is going to happen in the backlash that makes the situation a whole lot harder. I just don't have the mental capacity or the energy to get involved because callout = you get yelled at and even if I'm 100% sure I'm right I don't like getting yelled at. If one wants to do a callout it involves weighing whether the emotional toll is worth the benefits such as putting your story out there and speaking out about something important to you…Usually for me it isn't.

My favorite type of threads

As you've seen I hate getting involved in OOC drama…But I can't get enough of stirring up drama IC! One of my favorite thread types is anything involving conflict. I have a special love of petty drama type threads, heck in the past I had multiple Pokémon Contest RP events centered specifically around petty drama in the Coordinating scene and my last one even resulted in one of my characters losing his whole-ass CHAMPIONSHIP POSITION because he was a petty little shit. On the other hand, I also love hardcore serious angst--characters getting called out for their faults, villainous/morally grey muses going ham on their targets, threads touching the nerves of deep trauma or muses' deeply-held personal beliefs, horrible fights where everyone says something they regret…If anyone's looking to start a fire, I'll show up with matches and gasoline!

But of course, I can't have angst all the time. I also love seeing my muses happy and especially healing from all the horrible trauma I like to inflict on them--the endgame for all of my morally grey blorbos is finding at least some measure of redemption, healing and happiness. As such I also love tooth-rotting fluff! I haven't threaded these things yet but I have a lot of plots planned and wishlist ideas where my characters show affection and care toward those they love and they get the same back, where my muses mostly Volo engage in lighthearted mischief, where they have fun with and bond with their Pokémon--and since some of them are shapeshifters where they even get head scritches and belly rubs as Pokémon! Man, I always thought I was bad at fluff/slice of life type things because I viewed it as like "small talk" which my autistic brain cannot do, but with sweet events like @floccesyfluff-fest that I had an absolute blast at and the type of threads I'm doing right now, I think that's changing.

My favorite type of ships

I notice that over the years as my desire to write stories covers more and more characters in my hyperfixation regions (and more and more interrelations between my characters in general), I've started shipping a lot more of my characters with each other. The unavailable status of muses like my Steven/Wallace/Zinnia polycule might cause some people not to want to RP with those muses, but when I get a beautiful mental image of two of my characters together I just can't help it, I have to make them kiss LOL. I will, however, do polyamorous ships where my paired-up characters also partner up with other muns' characters in a polycule. So I think now that is my favorite type of ship! GDLSKFJDLKFJ

In theory when shipping with others my favorite type of ship is a slow burn, but in practice I usually end up not having the energy or headspace to write it all out. I usually also stumble into ships rather than approaching someone specifically to ship, which I feel is a much more natural and organic way of doing things--I don't think I've ever thought of shipping my muses right off the bat with any of my partners outside muns of muses who have canon romantic relationships with mine. Once you get to ship with me though, unless your muse doesn't want kids, it's a guarantee that I will dive straight into making fankids because honestly I love fankids as much as I love the actual ships. Today is Sunday,June 11th 2023. Which marks one week since I’ve been in the marvelous city of London, England.

Today I ventured onward, alone in a huge city and I must say it’s been one of the best days I’ve had. I started my day by sleeping in, eventually making myself down to breakfast where I ate slightly more than I have this past week of breakfast. I ate a hash brown, egg and some ham bacon with 2 cups of white milk. After that I bused to the national gallery ( again). I had to go back because I had missed so much from my first visit and I couldn’t miss out. I saw the water lilies by Monet which was very exciting along with many other famous artists throughout art history. On my way out I was going to visit a spittin Field market, but when at the bus stop I asked the women next to me which she prefers, she said Camden. I’ve heard a lot about Camden and had planned on going after spitfield, but I changed route and started heading towards Camden-I took the underground. Did I mention how hot it was today? I was a HOT MESS ALL DAY. I talked to soo many amazing people in London and just as I was interested in them they were interested in me. I had many lovely interactions and missed some photo opportunities, but it’s my off day right?

WRONG, I couldn’t keep missing out especially when I saw these 2 girls, I almost let them walk away but I swiftly called “miss, excuses me-” they were 2 young girls probably teenagers or in their 20s. And I took some HWAT photos. From there I decided to just keep my camera out, it was my blog camera so it wasn’t as heavy as my main camera. I got some glasses and made some “friends” well I could’ve if I would’ve actually exchanged socials with them, but I didn’t. Eventually I made it to the spittin Field market, where I was on serch for a bag. And I kept getting distracted. There was a new coach store, jewelry from small businesses, small fashion designers and their absolutely fabulous designs, that they HAND MAKE ( the ones I was interested in), both from Barcelona. We changed socials. And I will be in touch for their designs. I found a cross necklace that I’ve been wanting for a long time and alas, I found my bag. It’s from turkey and only from turkey. And even if it wasn’t, the man right away showed me a bag and was like I can see you, this is the bag for you. And indeed it was. However there was another bag and it was a very hard decision but I went with it-beacuse these 2 girls had came up to me in the booth, they were beautiful with amazing eyebrows! They said they loved the bag (the man had suggested on me) and spotted it before approaching me. I soon asked them for their advice and showed them the bags. They was having a hard time too but the sales man was there for it, he loves his job and he’s very well at it. One of the girls decided to put the bags on her to help me decide lol. Her friend mentioned her getting cancelled for it lol. But she had a tactic that worked . No female wants to see you wear what she wants. And I just saw which one I cared for most. Now I have another unique item to have and is versatile. He asked for permission to post my photo from his store, I said yes and he also gave me a free gift just for my kindness. Which wasn’t the first discounted thing I got for just being ME! Between all this, I had encountered even more people. One man, his name escapes me, honestly a lot of some of the details people shared with me did, but he stopped me, and said my stay was amazing. Me? Getting stoped when all along I’ve been stopping people and telling them they’re amazing. He and his friend were going to the pub. I got on the underground after being around the entire city and spending as much as it would charge me on my oyster card. I took so many amazing photos today and Im excited to share them. Oh and- I’m definitely going to learn how to tango after this trip. I saw people doing it and this older women Rosie was like “ I can’t see it captured your heart”

I didn’t even know she was right until she said that. I captured a few photos of that as well. Of course I found more people to photograph on my way home and even on the tube, but I can’t help it, everyone is so freaking beautiful, everything is so beautiful. Today London made me fall in love with my spirit again, I see how much light I bring to this world. And how much the world puts a spark in me.

The only part of the day that scared me was when I thought I got pickpocketed but I left it in a store, which I now this is a safe place.

People of London, i hope I made your day slightly brighter. And soon I’ll have those photos released.

Lastly- I’d like to mention the dog toy I got my dog, it’s a giraffe ball made of wool.

I literally just created this blog to write about this like I could've written this anywhere else but wanted to talk about this here anyways

Just imagined (actually, it has been on my mind for the past two days) a song between We Know and Hurricane, and it was like----

It's kind of immediate after Burr, Jefferson and Madison exit Hamilton's office, and he's pacing around while having an internal conflict because he doesn't know if he can trust them and be sure they wouldn't try to use his affair with Maria Reynolds against him and his mind is just racing while he's trying to figure out what to do so the situation won't get out of control and his legacy isn't ruined and-

Who appears out of nowhere? BOOM! JOHN LAURENS

(more like his ghost but you get it)

Like, literally in the same spot where he last appeared, in Laurens' Interlude----

They look at each other, Alex kinda shocked like "Laurens????"

And Laurens like "Hamilton.", stoned face while looking at his friend.

Alex is turning away because "You shouldn't be here, you're supposed to be gone."

And John is trying to call his attention because he knows Alex fucked up but by how stressed his friend looked, he had to help him figure out what to do.

And basically most of the song is both of them debating, Alexander saying that he had to do something to guarantee that his enemies wouldn't share his affair with the public and absolutely destroy his legacy, while Laurens is just there trying to convince Ham to leit it go and to not give attention to them because, fuck it, he knew Alex and he knew that, if he were to do anything, he'd end up fucking up everything even more (at least, thinking like this as if Laurens chilled out after his death — after all, it was his own recklessness that got him killed in the first place).

But Hamilton's mind is just so confused that he just shouts to make Laurens shut up, and yells at him how he wasn't there for him when he needed the most.

Then there's like a little pause then Laurens sings:

L: I trusted you like I didn't trust my own mind

I could've never find anyone as astonishing as your kind

And I've lived for you until the last day of my life

So I won't let you ruin yours the way I ruined mine.

((if you got the hint YES Laurens is singing the same way as Angelica in "Satisfied" when she talks about Eliza: just to give a sort of "hint" to how Laurens felt about Hamilton when he was alive)

And probably it's just that part of the song where everything is a mess — Hamilton, more specifically — and then close to the end it's basically

And there's a little pause, they look at each other, and then Laurens says/sings:

And just when he turns away to get off the stage, Hamilton calls for him.

H: Wait! John. You're the last friend that I got.

L: Alexander. Do not throw away your shot.

(they quoting each other from Stay Alive----)

And then Laurens goes away and Hurricane starts as Hamilton seems to be having an even bigger existencial crisis.

So, I did have some inspirations, since Hamilton has this really interesting element (which I love a lot) of bringing previous songs' lyrics to new songs, as if to "reinforce" their meanings.

First off, I would like to say that, for the concept of the song, I was inspired by a cut song named "I have this friend". Unfortunately, it never made it past the draft. But the premise is pretty much Hamilton getting anxious about the affair and having told about it to TJ, JM and AB, and so he runs to Washing(dad)ton asking advice for "a friend" of his (himself. Because, haha, what friend are you talking about, Alex? They're either dead or kilometers away from you, the only thing that lasted for you was enemies). Even though I like the song, I guess it was for the better it remained at how it is. Or else, the timeline would've been too messy, since, in the song, Washington is still president, and "We Know" happens after he steps down. Unless Hamilton went to Washington on Mount Vernon, but I think Alex would've been too stubborn to do all this to talk about it to someone else he trusted. But yeah, you see where I came from. Hamilton getting advices from his dead friend/lover. ♡

Obviously, I HAD to put a "Satisfied" reference in this song because you can't tell me Laurens didn't drink his ass off so he could avoid thinking of the fact his lover was getting married and there was nothing he could do. So, making Laurens sing to "Satisfied" can imply that, in that time, he had the same heartbreak Angelica had when Alex married Eliza. So yeah, gay sadness, yay.

Also, I'm very obsessed with the song "Let it Go" (no, not from Frozen. The cut song from Hamilton), just listening to Washington and Eliza sing to prevent Alexander from doing anything stupid... it's a really good song. I wish Lin had kept this song alongside the original version of Schuyler Defeated in the Broadway version, they are awesome, and explain a lot about Burr's situation, alongside his family's. But I suppose they were cut because of the time, which is a shame. If they actually were in the musical, I swear I would've made this a "Let it Go (Reprise)" (since I think it would fit way better if these two songs were part of the musical, since it would be, like I said, a "comeback" to them, especially with Laurens saying "You could let it go" to Hamilton).

And finally, a special mention to the workshop version of Hurricane, which has brought me to tears every time I listened to it!!!! I understand that it was cut because of the time between Hurricane and The Reynolds Pamphlet (rip Anthony Ramos for having to play the dead gay lover and the son of Hamilton at the same time), but it was such a shameee. Just that single line put so much depth into Alex and John's relationship, simply by saying that Laurens would be the single person that could stop Hamilton from doing the greatest shit of his life. That, for me, says enough for itself.

(Yes, Laurens' saying "Or you could let it go" inspired me in the same line as Let it Go, but I had to mention it because no one talks about it and it's frustrating).

As for what I thought for the song itself, sure, I had to think on a reason to WHY Laurens would have appeared just now, but then, what I had in mind basically was: The song, more than anything, represents the internal conflict Hamilton is going through. Laurens would be a metaphor for Hamilton's more logical side, while Hamilton himself represent his emotional, impulsive side (which we know he is A LOT). Again, his logic claiming for himself to calm down and think straight (something he isn't ahem sorry I swear I'll take this seriously), while his intiscts are SCREAMING for him to do something, because he just KNOWS TJ, AB and JM could take advantage of their "secret" at any moment.

Now, you might ask: "Why Laurens?". Then I'll tell you.

In "Hurricane Workshop", Hamilton sings "The friend who would tell me not to do it is in the ground.".

Laurens represents Hamilton's logical side because Ham KNEW Laurens would say to him NOT to do something so stupid. They were way too close, they knew each other better than anyone could ever imagine. Hamilton knew Laurens would be the only person who could convince him to not write the Reynolds Pamphlet. Or, perhaps, the only person he would at least try to talk about the affair (that is, probably when he feels way too insecure about anyone else finding out, so he trusts his best friend to vent about everything that's happening). He sees in Laurens someone he can rely on, someone he could count at any time, his ride or die, his closest friend, or even more than just that. Since Hamilton never gave himself time to grieve his friend's death, he still imagines, wonders, practically wishes to know how things would be if Laurens was there for him. And when he has no one else to turn, he just... wonders what would his dear friend do. What would he tell him? Would he smack him in the head for being so ridiculous? Would he make him laugh it off? Would he take him to drink and celebrate the freedom they conquered (the freedom John never got to experience)? Would he embrace him and tell him everything would be okay? Would he tell him he loved him---?

Hamilton never let himself grieve Laurens' death, so Laurens' ghost (whether literally or psychologically, it's up to you) is haunting him to this day. And in a moment of stress like this, when he has no one else to talk to, he just wishes he had Laurens by his side, so he wouldn't have to go through this alone and, ultimately, do something very stupid. Which, guess what, he DID.

And then there's the fact that even if "Laurens" warned him and tried to guide him, Hamilton STILL thought that the only way to get out of this situation was to write about the affair and publish it himself. So you could say Laurens had failed to advise Hamilton, or rather, Ham had interpreted him wrong. I really can imagine John on the other side looking at Alex after he publishes the Reynolds Pamphlet and thinking: "Okay, I told you to not throw away your shot, AND THEN YOU DECIDED TO DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT I TOLD YOU????"

Now, if it's a metaphor involving Laurens, or if it's really his ghost there, it's just something that the public could get their individual interpretations about (if it was in the show). After all, such a complex thing couldn't be simply explained by only visualization. It'd be funny to see people's theories and them catching references from the song. I know this is not even a thing, and it might sound very cliche, but I really liked it :'D

Someone p l e a s e write this song. Or a fanfiction. Idk I just loved this idea for some reason. Maybe because it has been only recently that I've accepted my love for Lams (I have navigated on the "Lams" tag for the past week and I'm obsessed) and I'm finally back to my Hamilton phase.

LAITO APPRECIATION WEEK (May 15th-May 21st) 2022 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Hi guys!! Another year, another week dedicated to Laito!!

If you don’t know me, I’m Corn! I’m typically known for my Laito analyses in the fandom, but last year I hosted a Laito appreciation week! So I’m gonna make this a yearly thing :)

Yes, I know Laito’s birthday is in March, but I’m a full time college student with a part time job so its really hard for me to be consistent during the semester. But I’m free from this semester as of last week, and ironically it’s around the second year anniversary of this blog (May 16th)! I’ll be hitting the 1000 follower milestone (holy shit wtf) this summer so what better way to give back to this community more and celebrate than to host another appreciation week?? 

This year, I am co-hosting with my lovely friend @novampirebrainrot (Deia) who is an absolutely amazing artist, and we became friends last year through the previous Laito appreciation week! So I thought it was fitting :) Send her some love as well, she’s just such a cool person!

ANYWAYS! Laito Appreciation Week will start on Sunday, May 15th, and will end on Saturday, May 22nd. Please feel free to reblog and spread the message! I hope this will be as fun as last year’s!
