You might already know Debut or Die since it is the biggest in fandom too, plot-wise all of these have more progression while not very heavy to follow. With [I'm a Genius Idol but My Passive is a Sunfish] and [I Became the Youngest Member of Top Idol] being the lighter ones. I love all of them. Very much. If you're looking for a character with typical krs!Cale or Cale!krs morally grey tendency, then Seo Hoyun from [The Trashy PD has to Survive as an Idol] will be a good start to familiarize yourself. (personal feeling but this one actually got the best of me from how similarly coded he is, even the 'blackmailing'/'scamming' and 'taking advantage of someone but actually cares for them along the way' is strikingly more pronounced:D)

Surprisingly, [Debut or Die], [The Malicious Member is Back], [I Became The Youngest Member of Top Idol] are the three where the group is build up through Idol competition. While the others are making a comeback after trouble or more agency-focus debut-trainee if you did not want to go through another musings for who would likely debut in the end. Which is, fun and engaging either way!

[Debut or Die]'s Park Moondae is literally Kim Rok Soo in some unique ways.... But, hmm, maybe more of a reliable narrator in comparison? As reliable as it can be with his personality.

If you want different characterization, as in cute and adorable MC instead of the genius and cynical characters, [I Became the Youngest Member of Top Idol]'s Do Seohan and [I'm a Genius Idol but My Passive is a Sunfish]'s Han Baekya are remarkably some refreshing change! Where as [In This Life, The Greatest Star In The Universe]'s MC Sun Woo-Joo is more heartwarming. I think these three are actually the most mentally sounds and healthy out of others, which is sparsely seen these days.

Each of these recommendations is refreshing and is impactful in their approaches. And I personally eager to tell you that all of them are worth reading for!

[Debut or Die], [I Became the Youngest Member of Top Idol], and [In This Life, The Greatest Star in the Universe] already got manhwa adaptation, so if you need more visuals feel free to give it a long shot to go!

It's most likely that I'll missed many points considering it's been a while since I catch up, I strongly advised to take my words with a grain of salt and take a look yourself for a better judgement<3

p.s. If you want to have the Coughing Up Blood shenanigans, [The Trashy PD has to Survive as an Idol] and [I'm a Genius Idol but My Passive is a Sunfish] will give you exactly that! I'm not sure about the latter since I haven't read much but the probability is high! >///< if you want a character who's constantly in the danger of death then [Debut or Die] took it seriously with its premise lmaooo

"Though, I think I can handle it fine--Cale?"

Cale averted his gaze from your skirt to look up at your face. You were staring at him with a raised eyebrow, holding a clipboard with a bunch of paper clipped to it.

'Records?' you mouthed at him, questioning him if the reason he wasn't listening to you was because he had gone into his records.

"Sorry," Cale said, not correcting you. Raon who sat next to Cale placed a paw on his lap. "Human? Are you okay?"

Cale caressed the Black Dragon's head. "I'm fine."

"O-kay." You flipped over a paper on your clipboard. "As I was saying, I'll just talk with Duke Deruth and Hans regarding the housing in the Forest of Darkness."

You sat down yourself on the other couch in front of him, leaning back, and let out a sigh. The kittens who had been sitting on that couch went up to you, meowing loudly.

You smiled, rubbing their heads and scratching behind their ears as you continued, "I didn't expect to face this issue, but I'm glad they feel safe enough to be comfortable and grow a family here."

You talked more about the rising population of the people in the Forest of Darkness meanwhile Cale was staring at your clothes.

He already knew you were someone who doesn't adhere much to this world's social norms -- a bit relieving for Cale himself, to be honest -- and that was why you sometimes dress in ways the folks here will give you a side-eye.

You were dressed in a greyish brown long-sleeved shirt tucked into your skirt. The sleeves of your shirt were bishop's with a rectangle neck cut, showing quite a bit of skin on your chest. There's a simple brown leather belt that fastened around your paneled skirt that reaches past your knees, showing the simple pair of black slip-on you're wearing.

You had been wearing a simple beige coat when you came in and had taken off, placing it on the couch before you began your report to Cale.

Cale had seen how the girls from his previous world dress with their various styles so how you dress today wasn't the issue.

It was the voices of different people in his head that seemed to be stylists the moment you had taken off your coat.

'She looks nicer than usual today,' commented the glutton. 'Back in my days, women would get shunned and probably killed for wearing stuff like that. Has society evolved this much? Good for her!'

Cale scrunched up his face. What is the gluttonous priestess saying?

'Cale, you should compliment her,' the voice of Super Rock urged him. 'She must have thought a lot about her appearance today.'

Cale frowned. You put a lot of thought into your appearance every day. You might have dressed quite simply over the years but it was because it was more practical considering what kind of party you walk around with -- had you been given the chance to be more stylish, Cale was sure you would have been the person to catch people's attention first.

Just like right now.

"Human!" Raon's voice snapped him back to reality. He looked down at the young child, raising an eyebrow to ask why he was calling for Cale.

"Is there something wrong with little [Name]? You had been looking at her weird ever since she entered."

Hong nodded. "That's right, nya!"

On stared at Cale, head tilting to the side curiously.

Their words made you frown and Cale looked up at you to see that you were looking down at your clothes, pulling on the tight shirt you had on and fixing your skirt.

"No," Cale answered, noticing that you were getting self-conscious. "You look fine, [Name]."

Cale thought about what Super Rock said and although a bit apprehensive, he decided to just follow his advice. "You... look nice."

You visibly beamed upon receiving the simple compliment and voiced out what Cale had suspected. "Thank you! I was getting a bit self-conscious because everyone had been staring at me all day."

'See?' Super Rock sounded pleased with his own advice. 'I am sure that everyone has been admiring her all day and could not say a thing.'

"You look pretty, little [Name]!" Raon complimented, which earned him a wide smile from you. "I tried my best to appear professional this time so I'm glad!"

'I would turn my head, too, so it's understandable,' the cheapskate suddenly added.

"I like your skirt," On added, patting the said clothing.

"I actually wanted to wear something shorter but couldn't find any," you continued, pulling up on your skirt a bit. You went to cross your legs, lifting the skirt a bit.

Cale heard the cheapskate again; 'I'd pay to have those thighs around my head.'

"What the fuck."

You and the kids turned to Cale, his eyes wide with shock. He was clearly appalled and your smile faded away, "Oh, I guess it wasn't really a good choice, anyways--"

"No!" Cale immediately spoke up again, realizing that you must have misunderstood. "I'm sure you would've looked nice."

Usually, he would let people think what they wanted to think, but he couldn't exactly let you think that he thought you would've looked horrible with a shorter skirt. That was going to be a blow to your self-esteem and Cale definitely didn't want you to run around thinking like that.

'Say something else!' the Sky Eating Water suddenly piped up. 'She stills looks sad!'

'Say she looks hot,' the cheapskate easily suggested. 'Girls love that.'

'You say that as if you get girls,' the thief joined in. 'Say she takes your breath away when she walked in.'

Haha. Genius, Cale thought, suppressing the urge to roll his eyes.

'I know, right?!' The thief sounded pleased with their own pun.

'Oh, oh, say something about food! Or, or, wood!' The glutton wanted to think of something as well. 'Say she makes your wood--'

"No."

Cale doesn't know what she was about to say and frankly, he doesn't want to know.

"Human, you're acting weird," Raon said, concerned.

"Is there something wrong?" You asked, frowning at Cale.

Cale shook his head. "Everything is fine."

'What if you say that she is an angel who has fallen to the Earth?' Super Rock added, sounding strangely invested.

'Ah! I know!' the cheapskate exclaimed. 'Say that the fire is out!'

Cale frowned. 'What...?'

'Just say it! Hurry!' urged the cheapskate.

"[Name]," Cale called for you, earning your full attention on him. "The fire is... out."

You and the kids blinked owlishly. What had possessed the man to say that? He was fine and the temperature of the room was rather low. There's no sign that a fire had happened and no furniture was singed.

'Okay, she's interested in what you're saying.' The cheapskate sounded excited. 'Now say this...'

'But you are still smoking hot.'

"But you are still smoking h--"

Cale closed his mouth the moment he realized he had automatically said what the cheapskate was saying. He saw your face seemed confused before a grin slowly appears on your face.

"Did... Did you just flirt with me?" Your face was beginning to flush red but the smug grin on your face never faltered. You were obviously a bit flustered but you were happy with it. "You think I'm smoking hot?"

Cale picked up his teacup saucer, sipping on his tea instead of answering you.

You laughed, taking it as confirmation. "Thank you."

Cale hears the voices in his mind began to cheer, the cheapskate being the loudest. 'Yeah! She likes it!'

'Mine was better.'

'I didn't think she would like such vulgar words.'

'Yours were corny.'

Raon and Hong watched the exchange between you and Cale with confusion on his face while On decided to stay quiet, pawing at your skirt.

Before anyone can open up another conversation, the door was knocked.

You stood up, walking to the door and opened it to see Ron at the other side. "Oh, Ron!"

Ron gave you a smile, noticing the wide smile on your face and the flush of your cheeks. "Miss [Name]. Are you back already from your weekly inspection?"

"Yes, I was just reporting it to Cale," you answered, walking back to the couch to gather up your things. "Though I have to leave to meet with the Duke and discuss what we should do."

"I'll see you all later, okay?" You rubbed On and Hong's head affectionately since they were closer before looking up to Raon and Cale, waving your hand. "See you later."

"Lemonade Gramps!" Raon flew over to Ron, looking utterly eager to ask something.

You glanced back at Cale before you leave the room, seeing that he was already looking at you. You let out a giggle as you remembered what happened, waving to him again before leaving.

"Lemonade Gramps, what is flirting? And what does smoking hot means?"

Hearing those words together, Ron raised an eyebrow and turned to Cale as if to question what he had been saying in front of the kids.

Raon added, "The human called little [Name] that!"

"Hoo?" Ron stared at Cale, giving the red-hair a benign smile.

Cale felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up and he looked down. "I-it was an accident."

"Of course, Young Master-nim. I believe you."

Ron does not believe Cale.
