Deku nsfw alphabet please?
My bb BOY
A: Aftercare (What theyâre like after sex)
He is wonderful at aftercare! The second he catches his breath, hes running to the bathroom to get a damp cloth and to throw a blanket in the dryer to warm it up and make your as comfortable as possible. After youre both cleaned up and huddled under the warm blanket, he cuddles you for at least a couple hours
B: Body Part (Their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner)
His favorite body parts of his own are his legs. Hes self conscious of the scars on his arms, and he knows his legs are strong as hell since he transitioned to training them more. On you, he loves your chest, boobs or nah. He adores kissing your chest and lightly tracing the contours
C: Cum (Anything to do with cum)
He is a safe and responsible hero, so he prefers to use condoms. Plus, he cant imagine that the feeling of cum dripping on/out of you is terribly pleasant
D: Dirty Secret
He secretly wants you to dom the hell out of him, but hes way too shy to ask. You know hes a switch, but he tries not to make it obvious how much he likes when you take control
E: Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what theyâre doing?)
The most experience he might have is some heavy petting and grinding in a past relationship. Hes come a long way since UA though, so hes more comfortable with himself and his partner.
That being said, he knows what hes doing. He absolutely researches techniques and positions and stuff before getting intimate with you
F: Favorite Position
He likes cowgirl, missionary, and lotus mostly. Pretty much, he wants to see your face to make sure hes doing everything right (also, access to your chest :) )
G: Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc.)
He can be a little goofy, but hes mostly prettt serious. The most he would do is crack a joke about how awkward it is to change position or something similar
H: Hair (How well-groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)
The carpet does indeed match the drapes, just a little darker.
The first time yall had sex, he wasnt trimmed at all. To be fair, he wasnt expecting it to happen. After that, though, he was neatly trimmed
I: Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspectâŚ)
Hes so intimate you want to cry omg. Hes constantly whispering in your ear how much he loves you, caressing your cheek, placing soft kisses on your lips and forehead, checking to make sure everythings alright, etc
J: Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
He usually masturbates twice a week or so. Sometimes, hes too shy to ask you to help, or he knows youve had a tough day and just want to chill, so he takes care of it himself. Hell juat duck into the shower for a quick wank and join you in bed afterwards
K: Kink (One or more of their kinks)
He has a massive praise kink. He l i v e s for being told how good hes doing and what a good boy he is. He also lowkey enjoys roleplay where youre a civilian that needs to be rescued and hes your savior.
If he ever tells you about his desire to be dommed, he would LOVE to get pegged
L: Location (Favorite places to do the do)
He prefers the bed, but hes also comfortable with your couch if youre too comfy to move
M: Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
Mostly, midoriya gets turned on by how much he loves you. A small peck turns into making out turns into sensual sex. He also might get flustered if you wear something tight-fitting or revealing
N: NO (Something they wouldnât do, turn offs)
He absolutely wont use his quirk or do anything to hurt you, not even spanking. Also no degredation, humiliation, bodily fluids, etc
O: Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
He prefers giving over receiving. After some practice, he becomes a GOD at giving oral to the point that he wants you to come in his mouth before getting to the main event.
He enjoys receiving, he just really likes pleasing you first and foremost
P: Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)
99% of the time, hes more slow and sensual. Sex, to him, is more of an act of love than just getting off. However, if hes had a rough day and is frustrated, he'll pick up the pace a bit
Q: Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)
Not a fan, tbh. He wants to take his time with you. That being said, if you really, really want one, he'll cave. Hes absolutely going to take his time with you later, though
R: Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.) Â
Izu isnt huge on risks. Hes down to experiment, sure, but he doesnt want to get caught. He might actually die if somebody saw you two like that
S: Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they lastâŚ)
With as much training as hes done, he has so much goddamn stamina its insane. If he really wanted to, he could go /several/ rounds, each lasting a long time. Hes not gonna overstimulate you though
T: Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)
He's too shy to buy anything for himself, but hed use it if you gave it to him. Hes most likely to enjoy a strap-on if anything
U: Unfair (how much they like to tease)
He only teases you if hes in a really playful mood. Normally, he wont tease because it makes him feel mean
V: Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make)
He can get pretty loud sometimes, especially when hes close to cumming. Hed let out a deep groan/moan and the occasional curse and maybe cry out your name. Aside from that, his moans are loud enough for you to hear, but not loud enough to worry about the neighbors hearing
W: Wild Card (Random headcanon)
He once found All Might themed condoms and bought them with absolutely no intention of ever using them, but he did end up using them on one occasion when you ran out if the normal ones. He couldnt look all might in the eye for weeks
X: X-Ray (Letâs see whatâs going on in those pants, picture or words)
Hes lowkey kinda packing. Slightly bigger than average with good girth. He didnt know it was anything special until you came along and told him
Y: Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
Pretty average tbh, but he knows how to control his urges and only act upon them when appropriate and reciprocated. As i said before, sex to him is more intimacy than getting off
Z: ZZZ (⌠how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Not fast at all. He can stay awake for hours talking to you or taking notes or doing paperwork or whatever. Unless yall have sex just before bed, it doesnt affect his sleep schedule at all

READ MY OTHER WORK HERE!
**************************************************
âAlright passengers, Iâm your flight attendant for todayâs flight, my name is Jane and upfront our pilots are Harry and John, theyâll be making sure we arrive safely to our planned desination.â you smiled into the speaker, âWe want to thank you for flying with us and hope you enjoy your flight, any concerns or questions feel free to flag me down and I will ensure all your needs are meet.â You spoke all this is your typical stewardess voice, a voice that took months to perfect and has slowly crept into your daily speaking habits.
Todayâs flight was a short one, only about an hour and a half. While you normally preferred longer flights, as it meant you got to travel farther, today you were grateful for the time it meant you would get to spend with your boyfriend, the man who was in charge of making sure this plane arrived safely at its destination. You and Harry had been together for nearly four years, working together since the very beginning of your relationship, when it was barely that. Of course, you never intended to start a romance with one of your pilots, it sort of happened.
After you relaized you both would have to work together, panic settled in. Of course you really liked him, you spent nearly everyday with him since that first night. He couldnât be further form bothered, only uttering, âWho caresâŚ.maybe we should tell them so they can see I got the one everyone drools over.â I knew it wouldnât be that easy. I would be shamed for sleeping with one of the pilots, rumors would ensue over how you got such a sought after job.
However, one panic attack and a trip to HR later, everything felt at ease. Your job literally could not care less; and being with Harry, relaxed you. Who cares if people gossiped? It was no ones business. They could stare and talk all they wanted. They wouldnât get the satisfaction of seeing you upset by it.
Pushing through your anxiety was worth it, for Harry anything really was.
********** 4 years earlier **********
âIâll get another drink please.â
âOn it,â the very patient bartender responded, you had been moping around the bar for nearly two hours. You came here often enough to know which bartenders were working what shift. This is why you choose to come at this specific time. Noah, a slightly older man, was your favorite. He never tried to pry things out of you. Just let you sit at the bar with a solemn look on your face. Occasionally listening when you felt you needed to rant. A presence next to you snapped you out of your daze. The bar was fairly empty but the slightly musky air was still floating over our heads.
âCan you make that two, please? Go ahead and put it on mâ tab.â I slowly turned ready to dismiss whoever was interrupting my form of self-care. It was the same tall, lean man who had been shooting glances my way all night. Getting fairly close to me when he came to retrieve drinks for his group. âIâm Harry, and you areâŚ.?â he said cheekily
âJane,â I deadpanned, âThat is very kind but I am more than cap-â I stopped when I fully looked at him and saw how beautiful he was. His eyes were a blend of forest greens, almost overshadowed by how dilated his pupils were. His pink, full lips were pulled into a  smirk, noticing I was staring.
âBaby, âm sure youâre more than capable,â he slyly said with a grin, Â Who was this man? And to have the nerve to tease me after only just meeting.
âLook, I was just sitting here enjoying a drink and I really donât need anyone to pay for it.â
âIâm just tryna warm you up, take it...please?â
âWarm me up for what? You seem so sure of yourself, when all youve done is give me your name and pay for a drink.â I retorted.
He grinned again and moved closer, âI see that look in your eye, I know you want this darlinâ,â he slowly inched his hand up my arm, pausing when he got to my collarbone, waiting for me to say no. He carefully encased his hand around my neck, looking into my eyes to silently ask if this was okay, all I could answer with was a nod. He put his mouth to my ear and hotly whispered, âCome home with me.â The ache between my thighs only got more intense. âYour friends wouldnât like that,â I whispered lowly.
âFuck them,â he responded, his voice had significantly dropped and he sounded so sure. For some reason, I trusted him and felt myself slowly falling into his arms, both figuratively and metaphorically. I wrapped my significantly smaller hand around his wrist that was still holding my neck, âTake me then.â I whispered.
Our drinks long forgotten, he dragged me through the exit. When we stopped in front of a very expensive car I was surprised to think he would drive. âWait,â I gasped, âyou canât drive, you were drinking.â I couldnât hide the slight disappointment in my tone. He only chuckled, âI was the designated driver for tonight, had bloody virgin drinks all night.â He smiled. With that, we got into the car. Judging by his determined driving I assumed we would end up at his place. After a car ride filled with only the sound of our heavy breaths and quiet music, the air thick with tension, he parked. The house was fairly large for what I would assume was only one-man occupying it. Nonetheless, I followed him to the front door where he stopped and turned to me.
âI know I was pretty straight forward back there, but Iâll completely understand if you decide to change your mind.â Those words got me wetter than I already had been. I understood what he was saying though, and felt gratitude at his attempt to make me comfortable. However, I couldnât help but let my eyes flicker down to the bulge in his trousers. I stepped up to him and rested my hands just below his belly button, âI want this,â I seductively whispered, âTell me you want me.â He let out an animalistic growl and wove his hands around my backside, resting them on my hips.
âI want you so, so bad baby. âM about to come in my fuckinâ trousers. Got me so hard, you minx.â With that settled I pushed him towards the door hoping hed get the hint to open it and lead us inside.
Once inside the already thick tension erupted inside us. He pushed me up against the closed door and crashed his lips on mine. It was rough and hot as he poked his tongue at my sealed lips, I let him in, and our mouths explored each other. He groaned and motioned with his hands on my ass to jump. I happily leaped into his arms and continued our heated kissing. I felt him slowly begin walking upstairs, careful not to drop me. We broke apart to breathe, but I immediately began trail kisses along his jaw. When I reached a particularly sensitive point below his jaw, he moaned. Setting me gently on the floor he lifted the end of my dress, pulling it off me in one swift motion. His eyes widened at the sight beneath it.
âCompletely bare, you filthy fuckinâ whore,â He said as he cupped my heat, smirking at the whimper I let out.
âOh yeah? I bet you fuckinâ love it.â I replied breathlessly.
âI fuckinâ do. Daddy loves filthy whores .â His eyes had gotten darker and his voice had a dominating edge to it. I knew he wouldnât go easy on me. And I was thankful. I decided if he wanted to be rough, so could I. He threw his head back and groaned when I dropped to my knees in front of him, âYou look so damn beautiful on your knees.â He gripped my chin, dragging his thumb across my cheek and pulling my bottom lip down.
I whimpered at the throbbing between my legs, hoping to get some type of relief. His bulge had only gotten larger. I held lightly onto his thighs and gave rough kisses to his covered length.
He was stubbornly refusing to moan, I could hear his breath increase in an attempt to mask them. When I pulled both his trousers and boxers down; his thick, veiny length sprung up. The tip was bright red and leaked pre-cum.
I admittedly enveloped him in my mouth, his knees almost buckling at the sudden touch.
âFuck babyâŚ..shit, right thereâŚ...suck daddyâs cock.â He grasped my hair harshly, guiding my movements as I bobbed up and down his cock. When I hallowed my cheeks he gave an involuntary buck, his tip hitting the back of my throat causing me to gag. I pulled away quickly, gasping for breath with a line of spit connecting his swollen tip to my lips. I chuckled and continued to move my hand up and down, flicking my wrist slightly when I reached the head.
âYou like that daddy,â I smiled at him. He finally gave me another beautiful moan that sent waves of pleasure to my throbbing core. âMmmm,â was all he managed to respond before pulling me up to kiss me sternly.
âAs much as I love that sweet mouth of yours, I wanna come inside you.â
He pushed me backward until my knees hit the bed. He climbed on top of me letting his hands roam toward my throbbing pussy, âplease,â I whimpered; surprising me too. He chuckled sliding his hand over my slit. âOh, fuck.â Gathering my wetness on the tip of his finger he slowly pushed one in.
I threw my head back and let out a moan. âAll this for me, huh? Tell me who got you this wet?â
I could feel him threatening to pull his finger out, âTell me who, and Iâll fuck you with my cock, the one you sucked so well.â He crashed his lips back on mine while hastily unbuttoning his dress shirt. âYou want that? To have me fuck that tight cunt so hard you canât walk tomorrow?â
âPleaseâŚ...daddy.â My whimper nearly killed him, the slow drawl out of me calling him daddy, I could tell he was trying to tame himself for my sake. But I wanted him to completely ruin me.
âDonât be patient, ruin meâŚ..please?â I juted out my bottom lip, partly to be cute and because I knew he would imagine me when I was on my knees for him.
I pulled at his belt buckle, he ripped my hands away and stood up. At first I thought he had changed his mind or something was wrong but he had a devilish grin on his face and lowly spoke in his sex-hazed raspy voice, âGet on your hands and knees.â
For some reason I responded to his voice immediately, rolling over so I was propped up by my hands, spreading my legs, hissing at the cool air hitting my slick core. My ass was facing toward him so I could only hear him remove his belt and step out of his trousers.
I jumped slightly when I felt him run the cool leather over my ass, âLook at you, spreading your ass for a strangerâŚ.. Such a fucking whore.â
I whimpered slightly and pushed my hips back slightly, hoping he would understand what I wanted. âYou want me to spank you?â he snickered, âyou keep surprising me Jane.â
Hearing him say my name drew a moan out of me, only nodding in retort to his question.
The slight sting that came was minimal in comparison to th pleasure I felt at his belt hitting my ass roughly. He brought it down again, and again, and again; each time making me moan louder than the last time.
When he dropped the belt I sighed in relief, I would finally get some relief from the ache that was ever increasing between my legs.
âAre you on the pill or should I-?â
I cut him off, âIâm on the pill, you can go bare.â I didnât want the barrier of plastic between us, I wanted to feel every vein and ridge I had felt in my mouth.
With my confirmation he pushed in harshly, both of us moaning in unison, âOh fuckâŚâ I breathed. He set a rough pace, gripping onto my hips and pounding into me from behind.
âShitâŚ..youâre tighter than I thought baby, â he groaned. The air was filled with sex and sweat. The only sound being our repeated mantras, oh fuck, right there, or donât stop, and the borderline pornographic noise of skin slapping together. Harry reached his hand in front of me began rubbing fast circles on my clit. I cried out and knew from the sudden stimulation I was gonna cum sooner than I though, âI...Iâm gonna cum, Harry.â I managed to get out.
âCum for me baby, show me what a good girl you are for daddy, how much you love his cock.â With that I clench around his length that was buried to the hilt in me, all but collapsing from the overwhelming pleasure. I could feel Harry twitch inside of me and felt thick ropes of his cum coat my walls. He pushed himself balls deep, swirling his hips while riding out his oragasm. âOhhhh, fuck babyâŚ.â he groaned.
I gathered enough strength to put my hand underneath us and tug on his balls lightly. He jolted and growled in my ear.
âYou felt so good in me,â I whispered, in between our heavy breathing.
He laughed and pulled out, hissing lightly at the lack of warmth around his cock.
âIt was all you darlinâ.â I unvoluntarily clenched my thighs at the pet name. We both laid on our backs and stared at the wall.
âYou can spend the night if youâd like,â he looked over at me with a glint in his eyes. I couldnât say no, even if I normally refused to even spend longer than 5 minutes after with a hook-up.
âSure,â I smiled.
********* Present Day **********
âOnce the seatbelt light has turned off, you can go ahead and gather your things, exiting the aircraft in a effective manner, on behalf of all of staff we would once again like to thank you for flying with us today and hope you had a lovely flight.â
Once everyone was off the plane I unlocked the cabin door and struted inside, silently punching myself for choosing to wear heals. I mean, they made my legs look great and not to mention how fucking good my ass looked in this skirt, I knew Harry was itching to take it all off me.
âHow was your morning Jane?â John asked sweetly. John was one of our newer pilots, doing his first few years under the care of Harry, a man with years behind his belt. He was a sweetheart, always kind-too kind if you asked Harry- and he respected everyone he worked with, no matter their own job.
âNot too bad, fairly calm flight. How were yours?â I asked them both.
âGood, John was in the lead for most of it. Fast learner this one.â Harry grinned, knowing how embarrassed John was with compliments. Sure enough when I looked at him, his cheeks were flushed pink.
âThatâs very kind, but itâs all your teaching,â He replied, âIâm off, gotta go get some rest. I hope you both have a wonderful day.â He shook Harryâs hand and gave me peck on the cheek.
My eyes followed him out the door and I turned to Harry once he was out of sight, met with an unimpressed look.
âOh relax, he always gives me a kiss on the cheek.â I said with a roll of my eyes.
âIâm just saying,â he stood and started gathering his belongings, âhe tries anything else and Iâm not holding back.â Of course John would never try anything, for one he was married, and he respected both Harry and I too much to ever do anything like that. It was simply a joke, stemming from the fact that a pilot that flew with Harry had commented about me, not being aware I was tied to Harry.
âIâm yours, you know that,â I grabbed onto the front of his suit and peered into his eyes.
âYeah, youâre all mine, too look at, kiss, and grab,â he smirked, cupping my ass harshly at. I squealed and tried to push him away.
âPeople will see,â I laughed lightly, freeing myself of his grasp.
âLet them, theyâll finally understand not to talk about you,â he breathed, âEspecially when they see me and think, âthat bloke will fuckinâ kill me for disresectinâ his girlââ he beamed at me, clearly proud with the scenario he made in his head.
âYou are such a dork.â We both grabbed our bags and began walking out the plane and into the airport.
âYeah, but you love me,â he smiled with that goofy grin that always makes me laugh. I merely shook my head in response and thought, yeah I really did.

The Heat that Drives the Light
Michael Langdon x Reader
Summary: Michael hasnât been himself having to literally carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. Because Michael hasnât been okay, you havenât been either.Â
Notes:Â Just a blurb that got out of hand. Was originally supposed to be really smutty and about distracting Michael while he worked...but this came out of that. I think itâs a little more interesting to take down the walls that Outpost!Michael puts up and get a little more into his psyche. Sorry itâs a bit sad and not smutty at all, but I hope you enjoy, nonetheless.Â
Warnings:Â Sad cockwarming. Because apparently Iâve made that a thing.Â
Word Count: 3K
Credit to @yourkingcodyfernâ for the beautiful gif.
Being underground was suffocating. The walls closing in, high ceilings not doing enough to clear the air and you felt the dust settling in your lungs. Outpost Three had become something strange to you. Having spent happier times there with Michael when things were simpler placed fond memories in certain corners where he had hiked up your skirt or placed little nips on your neck. But now, it reeked of desolation.
Sure, there were the Sanctuary candidates, but did they really matter? Gone were the warlocks that Michael had called his friends, his teachers, your mentors. All that remained were the near-empty hallways. Modified victorian dress rather than the Hawthorne uniform you liked to remember Michael wearing, his hair still short, and eyes still bright.
He had hit something of a wall. After traveling to all the outposts, each of them overrun, each failing his father a little more, Michael started to turn inwards-even to you. You knew it wasnât you nor him. It was the stress, because thatâs all he could be described as of late. He hid it well, you admitted. Perfectly coiffed hair, tailored suits, and a cocky grin on his lips all made up for the man you knew was crumbling under the facade. The crushing guilt he felt for not carrying out his fatherâs plan to perfection.
It really wasnât that bad...it was just one of those nights. A night where Michael was overwhelmed and working himself into the ground. He had been sat at the desk in what was his former dormitory when he was a student. He opted to take that one, refusing another Outpost guest to take ownership over it. Sentiment, you supposed.
Regardless, he sat there since dawn, or what you imagined was dawn as it was impossible to tell in the claustrophobic bunker. He had refused meals, even offering something from the stash you both had packed from the Sanctuary, and only accepted coffee. Just something to keep him going. You knew this wasnât how he had intended to spend the day. He was dressed in his usual tailored shirts and jacket, ready to face the guests. But he hadnât stepped outside the bedroom. And on days like that, he usually would stay in his sweatpants, hair tied in a bun, and shun the world from seeing him like that. Vulnerable. Out of his armor.
He was growing distant. Again, not at his fault and probably rooted in your natural insecurity of the relationship. It wasnât easy being the partner of the Antichrist.
You continued to roam the halls, anything to do at this point ,having read all the interesting books in the Hawthorne library ages ago. The other guests of the Outpost were asleep, mandated by Venableâs strict schedule. She knew better than to say anything to you.
Your shoes clicked on the polished marble of the floor, almost comforting you. You felt less alone, in a sense. The sealed corridor that lead to the room Michael performed his rituals in was slightly pushed in, reminding you that maybe he had started one. Thatâs really all he did. Work from his computer, work with the other Cooperative higher-ups, and work for his father under the guise of asking for help. You knew better than that.
It was maybe the third time you had to pick Michael up off the floor, blood still painting his skin and the floor around him, you asked him to stop. He had passed out. Weak from blood loss, dehydration, probably malnutrition. You begged him to slow down, to take a break. He couldnât. He literally had the weight of the world on his shoulders.
You could tell it was getting to that point again, because it did ebb and flow depending on the state of the world, the outposts, the competency of the Cooperative that week. It was understandable. Outpost Three was a success in some ways. But others, a massive failure. Nobody was making it to the Sanctuary. He had closed the book on every person left in the world. Made his final cuts, and was now weighing the decisions heavily in his mind. It was extremely successful because it was still standing, almost everyone alive. And then there was that Mallory he was trying to figure out-sitting on his knees, blood pooling as he screamed for help, screamed for answers. You werenât sure if he was actually asking his father for help or just needed to scream his frustrations. There was a feeling sometimes that Satan had given up on him, left him here to flounder until everyone on the earth, including Michael, was gone-given into the fire and disease around them.
With really nothing else to do, and nobody to talk to, you meandered back to Michaelâs room. Even if you shared it during your stay at the Outpost, it would always stay as Michaelâs dormitory in the back of your mind.
You took the long way. Passing by your secret corners, the library shelves youâd hide behind, the kitchens where midnight snacks were shared...anything to remind you of the Michael that stole your heart and soul.
You sighed before opening the door, not bothering to knock as he had probably already heard you. Preparing yourself for the image of your overworked Michael, a sight that saddened you just a little, you opened the heavy door.
As you expected, he was sat there, typing away on his laptop. The blue light of the screen cast ghoul like shadows on his features, reminding you of the demonâs face you had only borne witness to once. That with the warm light coming from the candles and fireplace set Michael in a strange light. Regardless, it accentuated the stress hiding in his shoulders, between his brows, his tightened lips.
He didnât look up, but did spare a, âHi, my dove,â as you headed over to the bed. Changing course, you decided to walk over to him, your Antichrist who seemed so small lately. Feeling a little selfish, you ran your fingers through his hair, something you knew would distract him but also something you needed.
It had taken a toll on you, the only person you really trusted, to abandon you, in a sense. You just wanted to feel him. Touch him. And judging by the way his typing slowed and he leaned into it, you suspected he needed the same. His eyes closed lazily, sleepily, as he rested his cheek against your palm. You rubbed soothing circles into his cheekbone, admiring the beautiful face that was hidden under the layers of stress, under the pressure put on him. When he was himself, his face was soft-no tension, pure radiance. Eyes not shooting daggers, no snarling lip, venom in his voice. Just a man who was forced to grow up too fast, thrown the world to carry, and nobody to help him hold it.
Youâd said it a million times to him, but it didnât stop you from muttering a small, âYou work too hard, Michael,â while still stroking his soft hair.
âI know,â came the familiar reply, voice hoarse from lack of use.
âBut you have to,â you said before he could. You knew the script by then.
â...But I have to,â he echoed, typing stopped for a moment, his hand coming to meet yours that had somehow settled over his chest. âI know Iâve beenâŚ.absent lately. You know I donât want to be doing this, right? I didnât know it would be like this.â He looked to you, bloodshot eyes starting to tear. Before any could fall, she shook his head to refocus and let his eyes look over to the small collection of empty mugs that covered the desk, so very unlike Michaelâs usually neat freakish tendencies. He picked one up, dark, cold coffee sat at the bottom, obviously abandoned quite a while ago. He knocked it back, grimacing at the too strong, bitter grinds that had made it into the cup. You saw his hand shake, just the slightest amount.
âMaybe no more of that.â You took the mug from him and replaced it on the desk, further from the others and his collection of files. âCome to bed, itâs late.â
He hesitated and you already knew the answer. âI just need to finish this. Then I can sleep.â He nodded, almost trying to convince himself that heâd be sleeping next to you soon enough. âIn a few minutes⌠get in bed and Iâll meet you.â
He tried to smile. It wasnât like he was unaware of what he was doing to you. He saw the way your heart seemed to break a little more each time he had to choose work over you. It wasnât supposed to be like this. You werenât in his plan. His nor Satanâs. Michael knew deep down that he was never supposed to fall for anyone-he hadnât the time.
But had happened. And you were his.
He wouldnât change it for anything.
âIâm not sleeping without you tonight,â you mumbled, leaning over him from behind and gently kissing his neck. Just a small motivation to get him to relax, just a little. You untied the messy bun his hair had been pulled into, loving the way it fell to his shoulders and framed his face against the contrasting lights.
His eyes remained unfocused, looking away in guilt. He wanted you. It wasnât that he didnât want you. It was that there wasnât enough time and for all his planning everything remained a failure. He supposed that maybe he deserved this as punishment. Working every day, nonstop, while his love was there and waiting for him. A sick mockery of Hell itself. Michael suspected that it was his fatherâs doing. Allowed to remain living as a reward for bringing the end times but punishment for not doing it well enough.
âIâm so-sorry,â he choked out, voice still rough and cracking.
Coming around to stand in front of him, you tilted his head up to look at you. No more words were needed as you leaned down to place a gentle kiss to his full lips. You felt a sigh come from him, a small amount of tension leaving. He couldnât help but move against you, hands reaching to your waist, your cheek, anywhere. He needed to feel you. Feel how you moved, breathed, radiated energy. Just to feel something living and breathing in this cold, dead world he had created.
Before even thinking, processing that he was still busy, you slipped off the dressing gown you had on as coverage as you meandered Hawthorne earlier. Michael settled his hands on your hips, thumbs tracing small circles as you stood before him, in between his spread legs and his desk. He leaned in, lips and tongue tracing your stomach and sides. Unable to stop himself, he pulled you in, arms wrapping around tight, until you were settled straddling his lap.
You continued the open but small kisses to his neck. Unbuttoning his shirt, you slid it down his shoulders, knowing full well that he wouldnât fully undress but needing to feel his warmth against your cheek as you rested on his shoulder. He was hardening under your ministrations but that really wasnât your intention as you just needed to feel him. Not even sexually. Just as another person. His warmth. The rise and fall of his chest, his breath.
Knowing you were causing just another distraction in his already busy life, you stopped your small movements but couldnât find it in you to climb off, reveling in the sensation of him against you. He felt the same. Your weight on him a reassuring presence that maybe he wasnât as alone as the thought.
Taking a moment from the small bites he was leaving on your shoulder, he looked past you, eyes settling on the open laptop. You felt him sign under you, already defeated. His hands hesitated over your hips, refraining from grabbing you like he wanted to.
âMichael. Look at me,â you whispered, the room only full of the sounds from the crackling fire. Your thumb traced over his cheekbone, eyes pleading for him to just relax for even a moment. âPleaseâŚâ
He couldnât, ashamed that heâs let it get this far. Let himself get so caught up in work that you were neglected...that he, himself, was feeling neglected. He sighed, eyes still downcast. âI have to. I know weâre both feeli-â
âYou can keep working. I know how important this is. I just wish you would let me help you relax a little.â
âI miss you.â The confession dropped from his lips. Despite spending every day, almost all day, at his side you missed him, too. Even when you were sitting beside one another, laying in bed, even occasionally while intimate...he felt miles away.
âYou donât have to miss me anymore. Iâm right here.â You resumed placing small kisses onto his temple, jawline, all the places that made his eyes flutter shut and heart full. His hardness still pressed into you and you reached to cup him through his tailored trousers.
Y/NâŚ.not tonight,â he choked out, looking broken.
âNo. I donât want you to fuck me, I just need to be close to you. I need you.â
Michael nodded slowly, recognition setting in. He allowed you to remove him from his confines, breath already coming faster now that your hand was gripped around his length.
âI need you, too. Please. I need to be in you,â he murmured against your lips, sounding more desperate than he cared to admit. You nodded in response, noses brushing innocently, and placed another kiss behind his ear, over the mark of the Beast. The very thing that defined him, made him what he was, who he was. The reason he was this overworked shell of himself. You couldn't help but still love every part of him.
Not completely free of bad intentions, you pressed yourself against him so he could feel the slick heat of your core against himself. Michael let out a soft moan, his mouth occupied toying with your nipple. You felt him shiver under you and tingles resonate up your spine. As much as you wanted to, it wasnât the time to play cruel to your Antichrist.
It didnât take long for you to line yourself up to him and before you could do anything, Michaelâs steady hands gripping your waist forced you slowly downward onto him. Once fully seated on him, the two of you let out contented sighs. His head rolled back and your hand instinctively went to catch it, supporting his neck. You took the opportunity to nip on his full bottom lip, but smiles bloomed over both of your faces. Finally home.
âYou...still need to work.â The spell remained unbroken, however. He nodded reluctantly, head now resting on your front.
âI know,â he resigned and you felt his hands leave your body, cold rushing in where his touch left. It was mere seconds later you heard the quick taps of his nimble fingers over the keyboard, the shuffle of paper.
It was irrelevant. Everything was except the warmth you felt radiating from him, the stretch of your cunt around him, his body inside yours. Physically as close as two people can be. Emotionally...you were getting back there, you could feel it.
He showed it in small ways. A small kiss to your palm when youâd graze a hand over the velvet of his jacket, the softening of his eyes from across the room when dealing with Cooperative business or reprimanding Outpost inhabitants. It was there and always would be. You knew the shroud was lifting and it would be back to hiding in the corridors of Hawthorne, his laugh radiating and a perfect match for his boyish grin.
One of his hands removed itself from the keyboard to caress down your spine and settled at the base, warm and firm. You breaths matched, each sigh shifting him inside you, hitting a new angle, making you feel even closer than before.
The keyboard clicks continued, slower due to the fact the one of his hands was stroking the soft skin at your hip. Michaelâs shoulders dropped a fraction when you placed your head on his shoulder, nose brushing the sensitive spot under his jaw. His eyes lowered, breath softened.
Over the course of the minutes, he would occasionally drop a kiss onto your shoulder, soft and awfully chaste considering the fact that he was buried in you. But it wasnât about that, that evening. It was about Michael and who he was and his breath and movement and reminding him that maybe things werenât so bad in the godforsaken hellscape he was responsible for. That there was still some good left, despite the original goal to strip humanity of that.
And he knew it. He felt it from you. The undying love that you held for him and he could only be reminded that there was good left. And that he loved you, the same.
The typing continued even after Michael dropped a cheek to your shoulder, head tilted, as he somehow continued working through his drooping eyelids.
âMmmmmm,â he mumbled into your skin, exhausted.
âI know.â He didnât need to speak, you already knew what he was trying to say.
His other hand settled on the back of your neck, the only sound being the crackling fire and candles. You shivered and he pulled you in, bodies still connected.
âMichael,â you whispered, going to suggest that maybe you two go to bed, but the small shake of his head told you that heâd rather stay put.
His breathing evened out, face still resting on your shoulder. All his muscles relaxed into your touch. Finally at ease.
Your fingers threaded through his hair and you considered waking him to move to bed...but you were comfortable too. Warm and finally feeling a little more complete with him inside you. Perhaps closing your eyes for just a few minutes couldnât hurt.

Roots and Leaves, Pt. 8
All done!
â-son. Master Jason.â
Fuck, Alfredâs dead? The end is extremely fucking nigh.
But, if heâs going to be selfish (which got him into this, youâd think heâd learn)âŚat least he has company inâŚwherever this is.
His hands still hurt, though, which he finds very unfair.
âYou are no better at feigning unconsciousness than you were at fifteen, sir.â
Heâs not tryinâ toâŚ
Why does Death look like his old bedroom. Is this some sorta âease into itâ area?
âThere you are.â
âAlfie?â
Alfred hasnât changed one bit. Jason will bet that his mustache hasnât even grown, or shed a hair, or anything.
âHow are you-â
Alfred.
He hugs him and he hasnât changed, not one goddamn bit. Alfred hugs him back, one hand cupping his neck and the other moving firmly up and down his spine. Alfredâs here, everythingâs gonna be okay, at least for another minuteâŚ
The hand on his spine moves and his headâs tilted up with a soft, âOh, my boy.â
Itâs over. Any dignity he had is gone. He presses his face against Alfredâs chest (fabric softener Earl Grey home) and doesnât even try to pretend heâs not crying. Heâs never been able to keep anything from Alfred anyway.
âMâsorry.â
âOh, my boy,â Alfred says again, and those sturdy hands press against his head and neck. âThere is nothing to apologise for.â
He tries to take a few deep breaths, to get himself under control for fuckâs sake, and canât. He canât do it anymore.
But Alfred is a literal saint, and he doesnât try to coax him to talk or to sit up or to do anything at all, even after his jacket must be soaked through. He just sits there, marginally more slumped than he usually is, and rubs a hand in slow, steady circles over Jasonâs shoulders.
At some point, he senses a presence in the doorway, but before he can straighten up itâs gone again and now, without that motivation, itâs easier to just stay here where itâs safe and warm.
He eventually runs out of tears but his face is now wet and swollen and hot. His nose feels like itâs swollen shut and heâs been reduced to careful, thought-out breaths that rattle in his throat and burn in his chest. Sitting up is too much work.
Alfred props him up anyway and rubs a cool washcloth over his face before letting him take it and hold it against his now-puffy eyelids.
âThatâs it, Master Jason.â If Bruce is Sherlock Holmes, then Alfred is Watson. They donât deserve him. âThatâs it. Deep breaths, there we are.â
âMâsorry, Alfie,â he forces out, voice strangled. âMâsorry-â
âThatâs enough of that.â
âBut-â
âI wonât hear any more of that.â Oh, boy. Thatâs the âyouâre on thin ice and should just shut upâ voice. Even now, itâs scary and he doesnât have the courage to go against it.
A straw presses against his lips-limeade-and Alfred continues, a little gentler now, âI cannot imagine that you purposefully buried yourself for any reason, Master Jason. Am I correct?â
He laughs. He canât help it. It sounds so nice put like that.
âNo. No, IâŚI didnât. I didnât.â He is not going to start crying again. He refuses. Sheila flashes behind his eyes, blonde and blue and red, and he presses the washcloth down hard enough to hurt. âIâŚshe s-said. She said she was out. Sh-she said she was out, Alfred, I thoughtâŚjust onceâŚâ
âFrom the beginning, Master Jason.â Calm, but making it very clear that he doesnât have a choice. âWho is âsheâ?â
He swallows, knows heâs imagining something squirming at the back of his throat. Alfred waits.
âSheila Haywood,â he finally whispers. âIâŚBruceâs filesâŚshe might have been my mother.â
He doesnât have to look to know Alfredâs got that little frown between his eyebrows, the one that says heâs deeply upset. Jason presses the washcloth tighter against his eyes, sparking colors, and his wrist is tugged at until the colors die off.
âI justâŚshe approached me, Alfie, I swear, I didnâtâŚI just thoughtâŚâ He swallows again, forces himself to let the washcloth fall to his lap. âMâtired of beinâ second choice, Alfred.â
He doesnât have time to brace himself before heâs pulled back down and somehowâŚfoldedâŚso that heâs tucked against Alfredâs chest like heâs thirteen again and still fits.
âJason Peter Todd,â Aw, shit. âyou have never been second choice, do you understand?â
ButâŚ
Look. Heâs very well aware that he wouldnât be here if Dick hadnât had that fallout with Bruce. And oh, boy, has he ever learned the Joys of Being the Second Child-âDick did thisâ, âDick did thatâ, and on and on and on. Heâs come to terms with that fact, itâs fine, whatever.
But arguing that point (or any point) with Alfred is a Bad Idea.
And. And heâs here, now, because BruceâŚBruce came to pick him up, when he asked. So. That means something, doesnât it?
His head hurts.
Alfred sighs at his non-answer but lets it go for the time being.
âWhat happened with Miss Haywood?â
Heâs not moving. Heâs staying right here until this is all over.
âSome moron tried to hold up the grocery storeâŚâ
* * *
Jason feigns sleep for the rest of the day, until Bruce is out on patrol. Sneaking past the Batman isnât impossible, but itâs definitely hard and with his hands almost completely useless, wellâŚ
The last thing he wants or needs is a lecture on Trust and Rushing Into Things and Dammit, Jason, This is What Got You Captured by the Joker. He knows that, thanks, Bruce.
(And yeah, okay, he knows lectures are Bruceâs way of saying I Love You, but some people swear a punch to the face is an I Love You, so.)
Sneaking past Alfred, on the other handâŚnow that really is impossible.
Heâs halfway down the stairs when thereâs an irritated, âA-HEM,â from behind him. Crap.
âI was thirsty?â
Alfred gets this expression that Jason will swear means heâs envisioning smacking him upside the head with a rolled-up newspaper. Yeah. Okay. Gameâs up.
âI justâŚI need some time,â he says, eyes fixed on a knot in the wooden banister. âI canât face him, Alfred, not now.â
Not for a long time, probably. Not without a massive blow-up on both sides and itâs better if no one else is around to be caught in that crossfire.
And besides. Right now, he justâŚhis apartment may be kinda crappy, but itâs not haunted by a stupid kid who swore up and down that
âBeing Robin gives me magic!â
âThis is the best day of my life.â
Thereâs too many ghosts in this house.
Alfred comes forward and pats his shoulder.
âAt least permit me to provide you with a few easy-to-reheat meals.â
âIâm okay-â
âHumor an old man.â
That is a trap. That is a trap, itâs just better to nod and neither protest or nor agree. And heâs got time, before Bruce gets back.
âThanks, Alfred.â
âHm.â
Heâs ushered towards the kitchen. It hasnât changed a bit-still homey and warm and with those same comfy stools by the counter. He remembers having after-school snacks there and chattering a mile a minute about âso Mister Pierce set his desk on fire in chemistry and it was so cool I gotta try that yâthink Bâll let me-?â
âIf I hear one word about you being out before those hands have healed, there is no power on Heaven or Earth that will spare you, is that clear?â
He believes. He believes.
âYeah.â
âGood.â An icebox appears out of nowhere. âDo you need a ride?â
âNo, I, uhâŚI called an Uber. I didnât think I could drive.â
âWise choice.â Alfred sets the icebox down and grips Jasonâs arms. âYou will always have a home with us, Master Jason. Remember that.â
He is not going to start crying again. He is not.
âThanks, Alfred.â
* * *
The Uber guy is more interested in his radio than in Jason and thatâs just fine. It means heâs not going to pester him, which means that he can twist around to watch Wayne Manor shrink into the distance through back window.
When he gets home, he opens his e-mail. Nothing new, but Sheilaâs are still there. He deletes most of them.
But.
He canât. Even now, after everything, he canât bring himself to hate her. Not really.
He moves the remaining few to his âsave itâ folder, where he wonât open them by mistake, and goes outside for a cigarette. Lighting itâs a pain, and thereâs a few minutes that heâs terrified that heâs going to light the bandages on his hands on fire, but he manages it, in the end, and leans on the railing to watch the cars go by below.
In another unit, he can hear Mz. Melinda May cackling and a handful elderly voices swearing and demanding she be thrown out. Maybe heâll go over there tomorrow, make sure she hasnât downloaded a crap-ton of computer viruses again. (And yeah, okay, he wants to know about the yelling.)
Thereâs a sudden movement in the shadows across the street and he goes inside, turns on the TV. Heâs halfway through an episode of Chopped when a red bar pops up on the bottom saying, Batman recaptures Harley Quinn, more at eleven.
A knot in his chest he didnât realize was there loosens up and he pulls his blanket tighter around his shoulders.
âThanks, B.â

Chicago - 1923Â
It was a cold, crisp evening in February. The snow blew in the harsh wind, cutting the skin like a knife. Women struggled to trudge up the sidewalk, turning up the collars of their fur coats over their eyes.Â
Ian Carter, from the comfort of his automobile, laughed as he lit up a cigar. âYaâ imagine walkinâ in this, Chet?â he asked one of his goons.
âEch. No way...â The sleazy right-hand shook his head.Â
âCome on boss,â said his driver. âDonât yaâ feel a little sorry for emâ?â
âI aint got no sympathy for a dame in a mink coat. She can afford not to walk, sheâs just too stupid. Or proud... Iâll tell yaâ who I feel sorry for... Them,â He pointed out the window. A handful of people stood at the corner. This particular corner was well known to a certain segment of society. âHookers and Gunsels... Themâs the ones with no choice.â
âYaâ got a big heart, boss.â
âI do. Donât I?â Ian agreed, leaning back in his seat. âSpeaking of my big heart, after dinner Iâve got a certain act of, uhh, charity... I wanna conduct over on 11th. If you know what I mean.â
------
âDonât I know you from somewhere?â
âIâm sure you donât....â Max answered, a little more snippy then he intended. He hated cleaning up after these drunks! But he knew he had to help with the family business... And earn money other ways... Prohibition had not been kind to his family. His grandfatherâs Australian style pub had been a huge hit when heâd first come over, but the outlawing of alcohol had nearly sent them all to the poor house. Max had been wearing the same stained old work shirt for a year now. Maybe longer. And those thugs... Those thugs who sold his father hooch at jacked up prices and threatened him and skimmed his earnings...! Those dogs got to live the high life! It made Maxâs blood boil! He didnât even notice how rough he was suddenly scrubbing the table. Shaking his head, he threw the rag back into the bucket and went to get some clean water.
As he was filling his bucket, he heard a sudden commotion. He raced out from the back. It was those goons! Coming to threaten his father again. âHey!â Max called. âLeave him alone!â He tried pulling his dad back, out of their grip but it was no use.
âMax, please, stay out of this...â His father begged.Â
âNo! Iâm not gonna let them hurt you again!âÂ
âYaâ think yer tough, daffy boy?â One goon asks. Max was about to make a smart remark when he found his face inches away from the end of a switchblade.Â
âDonât!â His father cried.
Max was just frozen in place.
------
âOh Man! That was some good corn!â
âRight here,â Ian instructed his driver. âI want this place for myself...â He adjusted his jacket before stepping inside. His chest puffed out and his men on either side of him. He didnât expect to step into the middle of a commotion.
âHey!â he shouted. His loud booming voice enough to intimidate the two goons.
âShit...â One mumbled.
âHey...â The other spoke up. âThis place is Vinnyâs territory.â
âNot anymore it aint. Now make tracks. Unless the two of you want a couple of Chicago overcoats, huh?â
âVinnyâll hear about this...â One threatened as they left.
âYeah. Tell him all about it...â Ian turned back to the owner. âYou okay?â
The younger one, he just shook his head and looked down.Â
âWhat kid, no thank you?â Ian teased. But the boy turned around and walked away.Â
Max just wanted all of these types of people out of his life. Though he knew that was impossible as long as his family was on the wrong side of the law. He sat down at an empty table. Running his hands through his hair, he let out a deep exhale. He took a cigarette from his pocket and placed it between his lips. But as luck would have it, he was out of matches.
âNeed a light?â
Max looked up. It was him. âGo away.â
Ian didnât respond. As usual, Ian did what he pleased. Taking a seat beside Max he lit his cigarette for him with his lighter.
Max took a puff, raising an irritated eyebrow at the man. The smoke billowing around his delicate features.Â
âLook,â Ian said. âI just wanna talk to you.â
âWell, I donât wanna talk to you.â
âDonât I know you from somewhere?â
Maxâs face fell. âNo,â he hissed in a stern voice.
âSure I do,â Ian went on. Flashing his famous smile. âUp on the street corner. I wouldnât forget a pretty face like yours.â
Max clenched his teeth, narrowing his eyes at Ian. âYouâre making fun of me!?â He slammed his hand down on the table. âThat how rich cunts get their kicks?â
âNo, no. Youâve got me all wrong.â Ian placed his hand over Maxâs. âItâs not like that. I just mean, you work so hard. For your family. I wanna help you.â
âHelp me? I donât...â
âLook. I know Vinny cut your pops a bad deal. Sendinâ his chopper squad around here. And, well... I just canât stand to see human suffering.â
Max rolled his eyes. âSure...â
âWhat do you charge up there? 25? 30 cents a go?â
âKick off...!â Max pulled his hand away, his voice cracking.
Shit... Ian wasnât trying to upset the little daisy.... âHey, hey. Shh.. Shh...â He grabbed the spindle of Maxâs chair with one hand and pulled it closer. Their two seats now practically touching. âIâm just saying, you shouldnât have to do that.â
âWhy the hell would you care!?â Max shouted in a whisper. Obviously this was not the kind of conversation he wanted anyone to overhear.
âBecause...â Ianâs eyes shifted back and forth. He looked around the room before leaning in closer. His own voice dropping to a whisper as well. âWhatâs your name?â
âMax...â he whispered back. Still annoyed, but confused on top of it.
âMax...â Ian leaned in closer. Whispering softly into Maxâs ear. âYouâre hiding something... Well, so am I...â He ran his hand up Maxâs thigh, causing him to jump. He squeezed it, less than an inch away from touching his crotch. Maxâs breath hitched in his throat. âMore than just how you bring in the dough... Am I onto something...?â
Max didnât answer.
âYou got thoughts in your head. And feelings. And you try and hide emâ. But itâs hard, aint it Max?â Ianâs soft whisper. His breath against his ear. It made the hair on the back of his neck stand up. He bit down on his lip. âIâm the same way...â Maxâs dick twitched. He cursed himself silently. Crossing his legs, Ian retracted his hand.Â
âW-what are you going on about....?â
âI want to make you an offer.â
âWhat...?â He turned to look at him.
âHow would you like to never work again? What if you could have everything you ever wanted? Just come home with me. Youâll have everything you could ever need.â
Maxâs eyes studied Ian for a moment, before he pursed his lips and leaned away. âI am not interested in being your sex slave.â
âNo,â Ian laughed. âDollface. Yaâ got it all wrong. You donât gotta do anything. You donât even have to touch me.â
Max raised an eyebrow. He couldnât make sense of this guy. Nothing in this world was for free. Max had learned that long ago.
âI just want someone around. Someone I can relate to. To talk to... To... Look at... To...â He struggled to articulate it. â...Keep me company.â
âThatâs really all you want...?â
âSwear to God.â
Max was silent for a moment. He seriously considered the manâs offer. Who didnât want to live the high life? Be one of the lucky ones? Of course it was tempting... But these were thugs. They were dangerous. And if Max had learned anything it was that they were not to be trusted. And besides... âMy family needs me.â
âYouâre familyâll be safer than they ever were before.â
âHow so?â
âLook. Thatâs what I came here for in the first place. This speakeasy here. This is valuable territory to me. I want it. And thatâs all I want. Me and my boys will protect your family. And weâll give emâ a fair price on the merchandise. And I donât need no cut.â
âWell, I find that all a little hard to believe.â
âMax. All Iâm interested in is taking this place out of the control of that putz. Thatâs my only motivation.â
âOh really? It seemed more like you were here to chat me up.â
âYou? Nah. Youâre just a little bonus,â Ian flashed him that smile of his again. âYou in or...â
âWell... I...â
âYou look awful hungry. You know I just had this real nice steak and toast. But hell... I could eat again...â
Max frowned. What a sleeze-ball. Max lived entirely off of soup. And even that had been tight lately.... This guy was using everything he could against him. But... What an offer... He could only imagine the way these guys ate. And did he really mean that? He wouldnât have to touch him? Not do anything at all? It didnât make any sense. He couldnât really just be lonely. What if this was all some kind of trick? What if they killed him? Max couldnât really think of any reason they would have to do that. But these were thugs. Maybe they just got their jollies off that way. But then again... Ian hadnât hurt anyone... He hadnât threatened anyone. Maybe Max had them pegged all wrong. After all, he and his family made their money illegally too... Besides. Going home to a leftover pot of broth was not appealing. He couldnât live in regret over such an oppurtunity. Even if Ian was a phoney, he could at least see for himself. âUmm... Well... Maybe Iâll give it a go. A small go. But if I change my mind... Youâve gotta bring me right back home. As soon as I ask, got it?â
âOf course. Youâre a free bird, Max.â
âWell then, I suppose I accept your offer. For now.â
Ian grinned and held out his hand, which Max shook. Was he making a huge mistake...?

You are free to read and comment about the comic all week at your own pace, so stop on by whenever it suits your schedule! Remember, though, that while we allow constructive criticism, our focus is to have fun and appreciate the comic. Below you will find four questions to get you started on the discussion. However, a new question will be posted and pinned everyday (between 12:01AM and 6AM PDT), so keep checking back for more! You have until July 21st to tell us all your wonderful thoughts! With that established, letâs get going on the reading and the chatting!
QUESTION 1. What has been your favorite scene in the comic so far? What specifically did you like about it?
QUESTION 2. What do you think caused Robbieâs scar that is briefly seen? Further, why is Robbie taking medicine? What might all this have to do with Griffinâs particular concern for how Robbie is doing?
ezzy
Wow what a wonderful comic surely who ever made this comic is very smart and also handsome
RebelVampire
QUESTION 3. At the moment, who is your favorite character? What about that character earns them this favor?
QUESTION 4. Which aspect of the world has caught your eye the most so far? Why does it interest you? Also, how do you think it will play a role in how the story unfolds?
RebelVampire
1) my favorite scene is probably the first scene we see robbie at maki's. i liked the little flirty dialogue and then the ultimate payoff with it at the end. like i really felt like i was in robbie's shoes during it cause i wasnt sure if there was chemistry and then the "robbie with an i e " thing really sold it for me. just a great banter setup i can really appreciate. 2) Given the opening scene, I gotta imagine Robbie was fighting monsters or w/e he fights in the underground and took on a challenge he wasnt ready for. And that probably nearly killed him and thus why the scar and medicine. Cause the medicine is probably keeping his heart going or something like that. As for Griffin's concern, Griffin gives off a kind of motherly feel to me despite the aggressive attitude. And it seems she and robbie have a sort of mother-son bond (at least a little bit). and ya know, mom's worry when their sons almost die.
3) my favorite character atm is probably robbie. While this could change as the characters become more familiar, I really just like Robbie's design. It feels edgy and relateable at the same time without being overboard. I also think it super suits his personality. 4) I'm really interested in the underground aspect of the comic. Cause it really doesn't feel like their underground, yet it's clearly a thing. And given robbie's crush isnt from the underground originally, itll be interesting to see how the cultures differ. Since there already seems to be some inequality going on. In terms of the story, I definitely think the underground's probably...status in society is probably a breeding ground for crime. hence robbie's entire life situation.

QUESTION 5. What has been your favorite illustration in the comic so far? What specifically about it do you like?
QUESTION 6. Why do you think Yui was supposedly kicked out of the family business, and how do you think she got involved with Griffin? What theories do you have about the rest of Griffinâs crew? Alternatively, who do you most want to learn more about?
RebelVampire
QUESTION 7. Which characters do you enjoy seeing interact the most? What about their dynamic interests you?
QUESTION 8. What do you think the ultimate goal is for Griffinâs group as for why they steal? Is it just for money, or is there some larger picture? Further, what do you think Robbieâs personal investment is in the whole thing?
RebelVampire
5) My fave illustration...s is probably the ones of Griffin on this page. https://tapas.io/episode/1357536 Griffin looks so cool, and something about this up-close shot choices really made me appreciate her really cool, badass design. Instantly won my heart over as a top-contending chara for favorites. 6) Yui sort of strikes me as the type who rebels just to rebel. Like the teen who never got out of the rebellious phase because she's 2kool4skool. And from what we've seen with her relationship with her family, rebelliousness is not well-received. And I can see from her families perspective how it kind of just looks like Yui lazes around and then throws attitude. I don't really have theories about the rest of the crew, although I definitely do want to get to know the completely non-human world. They'd be a great insight into the rest of the non-humans that are in this world.
7) I probably enjoy seeing Robbie and crush chick the most. They've got really cute chemistry that just makes me squee on the inside. And I also hope he continues to be called Robbie with an i e for a while. 8) I think the answer to this question depends on perspective. Most of the crew, like Robbie and Yui, are probably just in it for the money. While I think Griffin is in it for the money, I also think she has a bigger picture idea. Like eventually aiming for the grand jewel and making people super pissed. Or more I should say, she's waiting till they can make the heist of a lifetime and retire on a beach in Hawaii. As for Robbie's personal investment, besides money, he kind of maybe just has nothing better to do? So far my impression of him is hes the type to think hes not good at a lot of stuff besides running and fighting. Thus morals be damned, lets steal things? XD Plus if he needs medicine, hes gotta pay for it somehow. So to summarize, his investment is needs money + belief in lack of job opportunities. I think if something better came along hed be heavily tempted.
RebelVampire
QUESTION 9. What sorts of art or story details have you noticed in the way the comic is crafted that you think deserves attention?
QUESTION 10. Who exactly do you think Griffin is? In other words, whatâs Griffinâs backstory and why is Griffin invested in stealing? Further, why do you think Griffin keeps the group at armâs length and has them drop her off at random locations?
RebelVampire
9) One deal I appreciate is the balance of Griffin's design. Like there's this right blend of human and non-human traits that you could even guess she was a half-breed before anybody even said anything. And being able to get that across immediately visually is really A+ work there. 10) I think Griffin was probably someone a lot like Robbie. Just in the underground, nothing to do, no opportunities, and so she took the easy route of theft. However, I think she was at least once part of a bigger organization (given the connections she has) and that she kind of betrayed them and ditched them. Like I said earlier, I think she's both in it for the money but kind of has some bigger idea picture about retiring in style or something like that. As for keeping the group at arm's length, I actually think it's to protect them. Cause she clearly seems to know dangerous folks who know her and have a bone to pick. So by not letting the others become too notorious, she keeps the heat on her.

I started this one awhile ago and I thought it was very well-drawn(edited)

QUESTION 11. What do you think are this particular comicâs strengths? What do you think makes this comic unique? Please elaborate.
QUESTION 12. Why do you think the new girl working at Makiâs has come to the underground? What might it have to do with her relationship with her parents? Further, what role do you think sheâll play in the larger story?
spacerocketbunny
1. Favourite scene is probably the one where everyone is in the diner after the heist! The banter is fun and I like how the characters interact. Yui and Robbie are great, they act like siblings who can't stand each other but of course cover each other's asses if they get in trouble. Also the moment when Robbie meets Sky, she asks his name so she can label his food but then he asks for her name and she pauses like "why are you asking the server's name lol" 3. Ummmm Griffin because she's a mysterious babe?? Love me a stoic lady with questionable motives ;)) also Sky is so sweet, I love that she's an artist! 4. Love the demons and other folks that are integrated into the world, it's a lot of fun! I hope there'll be more interesting people to see :)
5. The latest pages with Griffin on the phone look great, great colours, nice backgrounds, I like how the colours are starting to become more dynamic! 6. Mmmm my guess is that she's a bit messy and callous and probably messed something up in the family business. Too early to make any hard speculation but if anything I think it was Yui's fault probably... I want to see more of what these heists are for, and how their group operates. I'd like to see more on Griffin and her origin since it was pointed out that she was a %100 human (I'm assuming the other half is demon?) 7. Right now Yui and Robbie because of the bickering they do, but now that I've seen Sky blush after interacting with Griffin I'm
9. I like the style of the comic, it's angular and sharp and I like the character designs! I feel like the comic's aesthetic and mood is still being realized but it's progressing with each page and I can't wait to see how it develops further! 11. Like previously mentioned I think the style is definitely a strength, it's fun and offbeat and I like that it's one that I'm not seeing in the comic scene right now. The character interaction is great too, even as early as it is I'm already invested in these characters and I want to know more about them, they're a fun lot and they all play off each other in a great way. I'm interested to see where this comic goes and how it'll develop, I'll definitely be checking back for updates
RebelVampire
QUESTION 13. What are you most looking forward to in the comic? Also, do you have any final thoughts to share overall?
QUESTION 14. Who do you think Solomon Reiki is, and what does they want with Griffin? What does this have to do with the guard who Griffin fought during the heist? What could this mean for Robbie and the rest of the crew?
RebelVampire
11) I think the comic's strength are definitely the character designs. There's a lot of personality packed into them. Not just the main characters we've seen so far but even the side characters as well. It makes for a really dynamic setting and cast that immediately catches your eye. Somehoe all the designs also really suit the tone of the story as well. 12) I feel there definitely has to have been a falling out with her parents. And she fled to the one place where she thought they would never look for her or something. Given she seems somehow hardcore herself, I could totally see her joining the crew and going on thieving adventures. Or at the very least being an informant of some sort. 13) I'm looking forward to learning more about the rest of the crew and seeing how they all play off each other. Cause that will definitely have a big impact in terms of how the heists go. 14) Given my previous theories, I think Solomon Reiki was Griffin's old boss who is super pissed at Griffin's betrayal of leaving. But until recently they havent been able to find Griffin so hence the guard. Heard some rumors and sent the guard to confirm whether its the traitor or not. Of course, this probably gonna put the rest of the crew square in sights and get them unwanted attention from bigger criminals or something like that.

Kimbal Musk takes the tech entrepreneur ethos and applies it to food
The younger brother of Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Motors, shares his same entrepreneurial spirit, but with a family of restaurants and a nonprofit to bring learning gardens to schools around the country
It can be tricky for anyone being the younger sibling, but imagine what it must be like to be the younger brother of Elon Musk, a businessman habitually referred to as a real life Tony Stark.
His reputation seems to get more outsized with each fresh headline. Just this week, the elder Musks company SpaceX filed paperwork asking for permission to use satellites to beam down Internet service from space. Meanwhile, his other high-profile company, Tesla, continues to make advances toward its ambition to make electric cars more ubiquitous. Then there is the fascination with colonizing Mars.
Kimbal Musk, 42, is a year younger than Elon and a very successful businessman and entrepreneur in his own right. But he admits the pair, who grew up in Pretoria, South Africa before moving to Canada to study and then the US, have a slightly different take on the world of business: We have similar views [though] his are stratospheric, while mine are more in the ground.
Food is a dominant theme in Kimbal Musks personal and business interests. He is a health-conscious chef, restaurant owner with his own sense of mission about subjects close to his heart: linking peoples food to their communities and tackling childhood obesity.
In an interview with the Guardian he speaks about his hopes for his food projects â and the inspiration he gets from his brother. The younger Musk, in addition to his work as a philanthropist, investor and entrepreneur, is a board member at Tesla, SpaceX, the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center and Chipotle Mexican Grill.
Ive always loved food, said Kimbal Musk, a co-founder of The Kitchen family of restaurants in Colorado and elsewhere, which make a point of sourcing from local farmers. Growing up, I cooked in the house, and when I cooked everyone would sit down and eat, and it was just kind of the way I connected with my family. I used to throw cooking parties in university. Everyone would come over sometimes youd just do a mac and cheese, but if you do that better than everyone else you can get people to come to you.
Kimbal Musk is gregarious and charming; his brother is intense and technical. Kimbal made millions working at a startup with Elon, and invested in his brothers biggest dreams along the way â and he is no less dogged about chasing a few of his own.
The differences between the things that give the brothers purpose are striking one Musk works to change the world through high-tech inventions, the other is most passionate about food, about teaching people to grow things and preparing meals that help people find a sense of community. Still, the younger Musk turns to a sports metaphor to explain how, different as they are, hes still learned plenty from his brother, whose business interests at times read like the pursuit of turning science fiction into reality.
When you think about basketball, and you watch someone like Michael Jordan play basketball even if youre a baseball player, theres still a lot to learn from there, Musk said. I really think about him more as my brother, to be quite honest. Its kind of a tough question to answer, because hes been so core to my life that its hard to describe specific things.
Elon clearly trusts his instincts, though, in light of the fact that, should he ever become incapacitated in some way, Kimbal is the SpaceX and Tesla trustee whod lead the task of figuring out what should happen with both companies.
Meanwhile, Kimbal has plenty of his own interests to keep him busy. He co-founded The Kitchen family of restaurants in Boulder in 2004, along with Jen Lewin and Hugo Matheson. It has eight restaurant locations today in Colorado as well as an out-of-town location, in Chicago. In addition to plans to expand in Chicago and Colorado, three new locations are on the drawing board for Memphis over the next couple of years.
The Kitchen actually refers to three related restaurant concepts. Theres The Kitchen, the organizations flagship community bistro, and The Kitchen Upstairs, a cocktail lounge with food prepared in a wood oven and artisan cocktails. Rounding out the list is The Kitchen Next Door, a community pub that serves things like burgers, salads, sandwiches, margaritas and beer.
For its Colorado-area restaurants, The Kitchen claims to source $1 million worth of product from local providers. In the Greater Denver area, The Kitchen serves 17,000 guests per week on average.
In 2011, Musk co-founded The Kitchen Community, a nonprofit that works to bring outdoor gardens Learning Gardens, as theyre called to schools around the country. Three years after its founding, the nonprofit had already built 200 such gardens in Chicago, Los Angeles and Colorado schools, reaching more than 120,000 children.
Its a different world entirely from the more fast-paced tech scene in which he once worked with Elon.
Their early partnership followed the younger Musks graduation from high school in Pretoria and decamping to Toronto to reconnect with his brother. Kimbal graduated from Queens College in 1995, the same year the brothers started the Web-based city guide platform Zip2, a venture which Compaq bought in 1999 for $307m. From there, the younger Musk began investing in tech companies, including Elons X.com, a payments venture eventually renamed as PayPal that eBay would snatch up for $1.5bn.
The brothers worlds diverged when Elon decided after some of his early successes to stay in the Golden State, while Kimbal moved to New York City and enrolled at the French Culinary Institute. He was there in 2001 during the terrorist attacks of September 11 and spent six weeks cooking for firefighters at Ground Zero, a formative moment for him.
My intent had been to go back to tech at some point, Musk said. Cooking for the firefighters, it was this just overwhelming sense of community that was created. Its impossible to describe how intense and awesome it was to see everyone doing that. It was simultaneously the best and worst thing that had ever happened to me to see 9/11 and be part of helping bring people together.
Doing that every day for 10-12 hours a day, six days a week, my brain couldnt go back to tech. I determined right there and then to open a restaurant.
He decided that it wouldnt be in New York, turned off somewhat by the intensity of the city. He instead traveled the country with his wife at the time and settled on Boulder, Colorado.
After Musk co-founded The Kitchen, the organization hummed along steadily for a few years. Then came a ski accident in 2010 that Musk calls a near death experience, one that left him hospitalized for months and helped crystallize his thinking about what would come next for him.
A restaurant, hed decided, could indeed be a positive force in its small corner of the world in things like the customers it touches, in the quality of ingredients it uses and in the care of preparation. But it couldnt really scale the ambition that drives so many entrepreneurs like the Musks, who crave big challenges, big wins.
After the accident, Musk said, I sort of got a new lease on life. I said I now have every excuse in the world to do what I want. And you know what? Im going to work on food culture and help food become fun and part of peoples lives again. The traditional restaurant is more commercial-oriented. But I want community through food.
That gave birth to his garden-focused nonprofit, which, when it comes to a new community, looks to plant 100 gardens at a time. The gardens are a combination play space and outdoor classroom that connect children to the process of growing food and give teachers an outlet for hands-on instruction. And The Kitchen Community raises $35,000 for each garden, a cost that includes everything from landscape design to site prep, while the finished garden can include things like internal irrigation, bench seating and curvilinear plant beds.
A mix of foundations and individual donors funds The Kitchen Communitys efforts across the states where its placed gardens. Today The Kitchen Community has more than 225 Learning Gardens in schools across Colorado, Chicago, Los Angeles and Memphis.
Tackling childhood obesity is a big motivation behind the gardens in schools.
When I look at the problem of obesity, its a depressing problem. So how do you create a solution that delights people? We came up with this design â my ex-wife, who Im still friends with, she knows how to create something where you go, Im so glad this is here. I really want to have this in my school. I want to learn here. The gardens, this is a product that really delights people.
In deciding where to take his garden concept next, geographically, Musk says the organization looks for cities that have foundations that can support a concept like this one. His team also looks at schools with districts amenable to the concept.
Not surprisingly, the level of support from one city to the next varies. If youre in a town like Boulder, he points out, theres not much foundation support from a problem like childhood obesity because its not a place where the problem of obesity is especially acute.
Meanwhile, gardens where children grow food while also learning about science, supporting local farmers and vendors, building operations that transform communities through food these are the among the things that occupy Musks mind, the things he wants to spend his money and time on. Innovation and purpose, to entrepreneurs like him, dont always have to involve gadgets and leaps in science sometimes it starts with a thing as mundane as the food we eat.
For me, I like to think in terms of three months out and 50 years out, Musk said. Three months out is what to do now, 50 years out is what Id like to do before Im dead.
If I look back and see specific communities where I made a difference using food, I will pass very peacefully.
