sometimes when im reading a fic they wont immediately make it clear what canon its supposed to be bc theyll just tag it like 'batman-all media' so i just assume what its supposed to be based on from the characterization, but sometimes ill get like whiplash from thinking its something like tims robin run then i find out no, its the young justice cartoon just very au

i usually block the yj cartoon tag when im looking for stuff just bc thats almost always not what i’m looking for, but sometimes people really don’t even tag it and its just blended together with regular canon and i get WHIPLASH

im always so like ‘this is specifically this part of canon/around this time’ whenever i write stuff bc thats just how i like to work with things so it does throw me for a loop when there’s no mention of what canon it is and suddenly it references something COMPLETELY separate from where I thought we were
