Another one... again.
---------------
The office of Team 1 was bustling with the usual activity, papers, and files strewn across desks, team members rushing to and fro with urgent tasks. Lee Soo Hyuk was at his desk, rubbing his temples as he stared at the ever-growing mountain of paperwork before him. The constant hum of activity and the impending deadlines were enough to give anyone a headache, but today, the situation was made worse by one particular team member.
Kim Rok Soo.
Lee Soo Hyuk glanced over at the young troublemaker, who was currently engrossed in a heated phone conversation with someone from the higher-ups. His voice was raised, his tone sharp and unyielding. It was clear that whatever Rok Soo had done this time, it was serious.
Choi Jung Soo, sitting nearby, watched the scene unfold with a smirk. He leaned back in his chair, tossing a stress ball up and down, clearly enjoying the chaos.
"Rok Soo really knows how to stir the pot, doesn't he?" Jung Soo said, loud enough for Lee Soo Hyuk to hear.
Lee Soo Hyuk sighed heavily. "What did he do this time?"
Jung Soo snickered. "Apparently, he bypassed some protocols and reallocated resources without the proper clearance. The chairman is not happy."
At that moment, Rok Soo slammed the phone down, his expression a mix of frustration and defiance. He stalked over to Lee Soo Hyuk's desk, a stack of papers in hand.
"Team leader, the higher-ups are being unreasonable. I made those changes for the mission's success. They can't see the bigger picture."
Lee Soo Hyuk pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to stave off the pounding headache that was threatening to overtake him. "Rok Soo, you can't just make unilateral decisions and expect everyone to be on board. Now we have to deal with the fallout."
Rok Soo crossed his arms, clearly not convinced. "They'll thank me when the mission succeeds."
Jung Soo burst out laughing. "Oh man, Rok Soo, you really have a way with people."
Rok Soo shot him a glare. "You think this is funny, Jung Soo?"
Jung Soo shrugged, still grinning. "A little. You always manage to cause the most trouble in the most spectacular ways."
Lee Soo Hyuk shook his head, feeling the headache intensify. "Alright, enough. Rok Soo, you're going to fix this mess. Write up a detailed report explaining your actions and how they benefit the mission. And make sure it's thorough."
Rok Soo scowled but nodded. "Fine. But I'm telling you, this will work."
As Rok Soo sat down to start his report, Jung Soo continued to snicker, clearly enjoying his friend's predicament. "Hey, Rok Soo, need any help with that paperwork?"
Rok Soo didn't dignify that with a response, focusing instead on his task.
Just then, the door to the office opened, and a stern-looking senior officer walked in, his gaze immediately zeroing in on Rok Soo. "Kim Rok Soo, a word."
Rok Soo stood up, casting a quick glance at Lee Soo Hyuk, who gave him a resigned nod. As he followed the officer out, Jung Soo couldn't help but chuckle.
"This is going to be interesting."
Lee Soo Hyuk let out a long, weary sigh. "Jung Soo, get back to work. And stop enjoying this so much."
Jung Soo saluted playfully. "Yes, sir!"
As the door closed behind Rok Soo, Lee Soo Hyuk slumped back in his chair, the weight of the day pressing down on him. The headache was relentless, and the thought of more paperwork was almost unbearable.
"Why do I feel like this is just the beginning of a very long week?" he muttered to himself.
Meanwhile, in the hallway, Rok Soo was having a heated discussion with the senior officer, trying to defend his actions. Inside the office, Jung Soo continued to smirk, clearly enjoying the chaos his best friend had caused.
"Hey, hyung," Jung Soo called out. "You know, for all the trouble Rok Soo causes, he does make things interesting."
Lee Soo Hyuk couldn't help but chuckle despite his headache. "That he does, Jung Soo. That he does."
As the day wore on, the team continued to work, the ever-present hum of activity a constant reminder of the challenges they faced. And through it all, the bond between them remained strong, even in the face of endless trouble and paperwork.

shoutout to Jake Animorphs for being kinda uninteresting for like forty books and then hitting you so hard when he fully snaps and steps into his role as a hardened military leader at the age of sixteen
and then suddenly that sweet, stressed-out kid is just gone. he only exists to win wars anymore. it makes you realize too late what was lost

The Helena diaz of it all has me fascinated. I’ve said for a long while that Eddie’s real issues are his mommy issues and this episode just cemented for me that we’re gonna explore that and deal with it.
Because it’s Helena who forced Eddie to grow up to fast - because her husband wasn’t around much - so she pushed Eddie into de facto parent and husband role ls - selfishly filling her needs and ignoring the damage it was doing to her son (it is a form of abuse in my book).
Eddie then had the audacity to fall in love with and marry Shannon and get her pregnant. It’s why Helena was always so off with Shannon - she was punishing her. She is also punishing Eddie for all of this and his refusal to return to El Paso only cemented further her bitterness and resentment.
Now she does have Ramon back she doesn’t need Eddie any longer to fill that role so she is still punishing him and part of that is tied into her glee over now getting to parent Christopher - something she has always been intent on doing the doppelgänger just gave her the opportunity- as well as allowing her to further punish her son and his love of Shannon.
Her barbed comments about building a pool were all about showing what she can provide Christopher - how she is parenting him better than Eddie - it’s part of her mind games - making Eddie feel like more of a failure as a parent to his son.
The reality of course is that the reverse is true - Helena’s parenting is all superficial, flash and showy - it isn’t the hard day to day parenting when things get tough and you have to be the bad guy. While Eddie has made mistakes, there is nothing superficial, flash, or showy about his parenting. It’s why bucks comments about Eddie being a great dad are so important.
Eddie feel like a failure right now and that he is entirely to blame for everything. But in reality, while he does bear a bit of the responsibility, the truth of the matter is that he needs to learn and deal with the fact that all of it actually stems from Helena and her abuse of her young son - Shannon never stood a chance just like Eddie never has.
#genuinely don’t see how she can get any sort of redemption arc#but this is 911 so maybe they’ll find a way 🤷🏻‍♀️#Helena’s treatment of Eddie is a form of child abuse - it has done so much damage to him psychologically#I do really hope we finally get to meet Sophia and adriana as part of this arc beciase I think it might be very revealing#I am also wondering if Ramon had a stache in the past - and that is what Eddie is subconsciously trying to mimic#and that is about him trying to regain his mothers affection - trying to fill that husband role she forced him into#and that shaving it off is a part of his dealing with that and choosing to free himself from her clutches#and in doing that - standing up for himself etc - it will be the trigger that v ring schristopher back#the catholic guilt and Eddie’s queerness is also all tied up in this - the church reinforces and condones Helena and her actions#the Catholic Church has a long history of abuse of children in all it’s horrendous forms#so Eddie seeking solace in that direction think it will help him find away back to Helena’s good books only for it to open a few doors he#has bolted shut#as for the queer aspect - forcing Eddie to grow up too fast and fill this role of husband to his mother and parent to his siblings means#Eddie never got the chance to learn who he actually is - to explore his sexuality and all that goes with that - at the age one normally#would - as a teenager and into your 20’s. it explains so much around his relationship with Shannon and dealing with the helana of it all#and the queerness of his identity - will also allow him to actually let Shannon go#Eddie’s arc is going to be incredible - heartbreaking and gut wrenching - but incredible#Helena diaz it’s on sight - she is evil and cannot be redeemed in my eyes!#911 spoilers#Thinky thoughts#eddie diaz#911 abc

thinking about this article i read that mentioned illegitimate children in ancient greece (athens in particular) and also this chapter from imagining illegitimacy in classical greek literature and how teucer's entire relationship to telamon (and by extension, ajax and eurysaces) is reliant on maintaining telamon's favor, and how when he loses that - after fighting for ten years to sack his mother's city, killing his own maternal family in the process - he is basically left without any kin at all. and i think it hits harder that teucer went to war against the side of his family that (in other circumstances) he would have been included in, since illegitimate children were typically raised by their mother's relatives. he gambled everything and he lost it all in return

Someone (I don’t remember Whomst but please do raise your hand if it was you) once proposed the idea that Terzo might be a bit of a pianist based off of this image
Tumblr media
And I just wanted to say that I support this idea. Not only because I think Terzo being able to play piano is adorable, but because it would make the Kazoo of Destiny even funnier in my eyes.
Dude is a classically-trained concert pianist, would make so many of his peers swoon by doing that dumb “Oh is that a piano? Don’t mind if I do~” bit and playing a concerto off the cuff. He could easily wriggle in a piano bit for himself during rituals and acoustic sessions — and the Clergy would’ve been on board for once because they know the power that a confident, handsome man with strong fingers can wield on an already horny audience.
But nope: He toot his lil kazoo, his favorite party favor he got three years ago at a New Year’s Eve party.

Headcanon: when Hephaestus chained Hera to her chair, it took a night before Dionysus could convince him to free his mother. Hera spent overnight trapped in that chair in contempt and guilt. Zeus, for all his sleaziness cheating, and arrogance over his wife, never left her side during this. He wouldn’t sleep in his marriage bed nor in the bed of another that night. He slept right next to her on his own throne, clutching his hand with hers, their rings gently gleaming.

In addition to the I'm Guessing Tolkien Had Some Hang-Ups About Pregnancy post, I also ran over some interesting but even more unrelated factoids in The Nature of Middle-earth that even I couldn't justify including in the main ramble.
So I made a separate post about those, which includes my favorite:
Arwen would have been even more exhausting for Celebrían to bear than a pair of twins because: Arwen was a "special child" of great powers and beauty The beauty I got from LOTR, but—without being dismissive about the banner—I really wish we had a clearer sense of Arwen's unique stature in her own right in LOTR. She's presented so much in terms of Elrond and Lúthien and occasionally Galadriel and Celeborn, but Elladan and Elrohir are Elrond's children and Galadriel's grandchildren just as much as she is. Yet here she's clearly framed as special and powerful in a way they are not and which drew so much from Celebrían's (and possibly Elrond's) spiritual reserves that they couldn't have any more children. That seems like a big deal! Tell me more! Epilogue: he did not tell us more

No matter how many times it happens, I'm always shocked by how reliably all my problems with any given story are solved by making it shorter. If I go into a story with the idea that it'll be long, that I should use as much detail as I want to craft a full-length and fully-fleshed-out story instead of a short one, it always turns into this rambling, meandering, soulless thing that's no fun to read, and I get tangled up in so many flimsy, sprawling layers of character and worldbuilding that the plot becomes unworkable.
The minute I tell myself, "Let's make this as short as possible," the problems fall away, I find the heart of the story again, the pacing is brisk, scenes get multiple purposes, the world feels deeper because I'm implying things that spark the reader's imagination rather than trying to put every threadbare, boring detail on the page. Every time. You'd think I'd have learned by now.

coping by coming up with now-possible world states since our choices won't be referenced one way or another in dav. realizing that actually, i'm not limited now by canon options. the choices can be whatever i fucking want. or don't want. they can be fucking bonkers off the wall and if it's not referenced in game, it can be true and unquestioned!
yea i'm shipping everybody and bioware can't tell me it's not canon in my world state

I hate it when people say Feyre, mated a high lord but Nesta was mated to a gym bro...
You mean Feyre Archeron? The savior of Prythian, the Cursebreaker, Defender of the Rainbow, Cauldron-blessed and the first high lady in the history?
And Cassain? Lord of Bloodshed, Warrior-heart, Lord in Good Deeds and the general of the biggest army and court in Prythian?
Put some respect in the name of High Lady of Night Court and her general!!!
