The New Home to Motorsports, Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) on October 6 was one of the few fantastic and energetic places in Lagos Island. TBS had much scenic goodness, sparkling automobiles, beautifully âmodâ vehicles, fresh smell of burnt tires and many automobile enthusiasts. It was an amazing display of supercars action!

Before we start ignition, let me shine the light on #BMWCLUBNIGERIA
According to AutoJosh, BMW Club of Nigeria is an exclusive organisation operating under the guidelines of BMW Clubs International Council, Munich. The Club is also a proud member of BMW Clubs Africa.
The 2019 Edition, âXtreme Xperienceâ was organised by the BMW Club of Nigeria. Itâs about the fourth installment of #BIMMERFEST in Nigeria and so far, the support from sponsors and car lovers has been massive.
Are you ready for this?
As Lagosians anticipated the season finale of Big Brother Naija [Pepper Dem], automobile enthusiasts converged Sunday Noon with their Supercars and BMWs. Nigeriaâs commercial nerve was literally a hub of activities featuring the best Rides, Gears and Accessories, Racing Events and Stunts.
If you are a Motorsports enthusiast and you werenât at #BIMMERFESTNG, you missed a lot. Luckily for you, this article will give a strong insight on what to expect in the next Auto Show.
7 REASONS YOUâLL LOVE #BIMMERFESTNG
#1. Bikes and Bimmers
If not anything at all, you should attend subsequent #BIMMERFESTNG for the culture. Itâs the biggest âmotor thingâ in Africa and the perfect blend of event for auto lovers in Nigeria.
The Car Festival stands out because itâs open to anyone with good wheels. Isnât that great? You can also join the lineup next time. TBS had peculiar feel and perfect weather conditions to accomodate BMWs like 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 series, M-Power series and X series.
VIP XperienceâŠ
The VIP experience was quite surreal, guys there didnât have to mix with the crowd and they enjoyed a great view of the Bike and Car happenings. The Ticket cost 15,000 Naira with snacks and drinks.

#2. Superbikes Parade
The Bikes lightened the scene with thunderous revs and screeches. It was mind blowing to be there and Brands featured included the Honda CVR, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Harley Davidson and Triumph.
Also, the Bikers came in groups but the best entrance was by Bikers with Attitude and Determination Gang (B.A.D Gang), others had cool display too, they were Predator Brothers and the Female Bikers Initiative (FBI), a group popular for previous breast and cervical cancer awareness campaigns in Lagos.
#3. Supercars Parade
Tafawa Balewa Square compared to its usual calm and relaxed atmosphere, morphed into a bustling public space on Sunday. The best part of the supercars parade was when a latest Range Rover was unveiled, the 2019 SUV isnât even up to a year on the market! Exquisite German Engineering, Mercedes Benz Brabus with V8 Bi-turbo Engine was also showcased.
Featured lineups from Supercars of Nigeria and others luxuries were the Jeep Wrangler â Rubicon & Sahara, Dodge Challenger, Mercedes Benz, Chevy, G Wagon, BMW X4, X5, X6 and a custom made âRageâ Quad Bike.
#4. Vintage Collections
Initially, anyone would have believed that the FIESTA had been restricted to latest automobile models around the would but to our greatest surprise, the event slowly drifted into an âold manâs haven.â Mercedes Benz âV-Bootâ, Mercedes Benz C230 and BMWs over a decade old joined the lineup and they were appealing to vintage enthusiasts.
#5. Motor Stunts
Hey ericotrippers! Iâm reminiscing right now on the tire marks on TBS Grounds. It was a colourful display of stunts like the 360, Doughnuts, Burnout, Swift turns and J-turns through a bunch of cones.
Guess What? Show Offs werenât restricted to cars alone, the Bikers performed and BMX Bicycle Riders and Guys on Rollerskates were Hot! Hot!! Hot!!!
#6. Celebrities
Mesmerising musical performances from artistes added an extra hype to the event. Immediately after the National Anthem recitation, melodious sounds filled the air for the rest of the day.
The VIP seats were near celebrities like Rudeboy âPaul PSquareâ, DJ Jimmy Jatt and Larry Gaaga to mention a few. Some of them even performed exceptionally, Alex Ekubo and IK Igbonna proudly pulled off a grand entry in their Chevy Camaro.
#7. Vendors
This last weekend was a good dose of fun and action at #BIMMERFEST because of the vendors. They cheerfully distributed freebies. Coscharis Motors PLC, Elizade, Slay Motor Accessories, Indomie, Motul, Infinity, Techno, Rite Foods, B.A.D Gang, F.A.M.E Group and Silverbird Film Distribution.

my dogmatic tour experience - long ass post bc i can
So today it passes exactly a year since I attended GazettEâs live in Munich. Boi oh boi the time flies by quickly. And I used to think like âoh these memories are going to be mine oh mineâ but honestly I want to share them before they fade away. First of all I would like to say I met so many amazing people there. Many, many nice fans who you could talk to and share thought with. I was at the livehouse around 12 pm so I had like a lot of time to wait but honestly it was as good as the concert itself. I didnât regret travelling my ass for 12 hours by bus to see them (i meet dope girl on the bus as well tho, still keep in touch) And the Uruhaâs birthday thing was even more fun. Few girls were walking around with a book that everyone could sign. Cute. There were so many people younger than me and being in a fandom for like 2-3 years i felt like a dinosaur.
But let me procced to meet&shit i mean greet what. There was like literally 20 seconds youâve had to spend with each member but hooooooly shit it was too much to handle 4 my heart anyway. Honestly yall who hasnt meet them irl. They smol. Really. I must note I was one of thw last people who entered the m&g room. They looked kind of tired. First was Aoi and i gotta admit he is hot. His hand was still injured so he shook with the left one so it was kind of awkward but cute. He is definitely handsome. Then i went to Reita and damn. His English is actually pretty good. But that mask of his⊠it looked so weird irl. His thumb is honestly so creepy. Ruki. OH BOI. I was emotionally fine until i looked into Rukiâs eyes and I started crying. Yeah. I actually did. I know Im a trash ok. But Ruki smiled at me and he is soooooooo cute i wanted to pierce my eyes for crying. Ruki tho just put his 2nd hand when he saw i was crying and smiled. KAI. That bastard. I reached my hand to shake his and Kai was like âwhaaaaat? The fuck is that?â I was still a mess after Ruki and that bastard just laughed at my hands. Okay I am 5'0 (150 cm) and my hands are small. But Kai was like literally laughing at the size of my hands. Loser. Let me tell you something about Uruha. He is acutally so so soooo manly irl. I mean his arms and his body. Sign. Me. The. Fuck Up. Hooooo man. He was trying to look so cool-looking and all but he also smiled at me bc I was still in tears. The gig itself was great. It wasnât like the best concert Iâve ever been to but it was really good. My neck hurt for like a week after this gig I headbanged so hard. And singing happy birthday to Uruha with all te fans in the livehouse was so cute and amazing. I was on the side of a stage where Uruha plays. He was such a tease during live. [Btw Ruki and his lantern-licking porn during Nihil. Hooooo bitch I was on the verge of heartattack.] I actually had some good time drinking in Munich after the concert. Plus I was supposed to be back the day after concert in my city to attend an exam. Guess what that didnât work out. Actualy my way back home was so screwed up. I mean a guy in Berlin Bus Station borrowed me 1.50 ⏠for my ticket even though I didnt ask him. The travel to home was crazy. I visited 2 cities I didnât plan to. Amazing experience. I hope one day they will come back to Europe with new songs (btw Deux live mmmmmm 10/10).

2018 Kia Stinger 2.0 First Test: Look out BMW, Here Comes Korea
A funny thing happened on the way back from the Mojave Desert the other day. Someone tossed me the keys to a Kia, and I decided to take the long way home, seeking out some of the great driverâs roads that snake through the San Gabriel Mountains before heading down the Angeles Crest Highway into the hustling bustle of the City of Angels. Kia and driverâs roads ⊠it sounds an unlikely combination. But the 2018 Kia Stinger is a car that will shatter your perceptions about Koreaâs value brand.
Here the thing: My ride was the base Stinger, the one powered by the 255-hp turbocharged four-banger, rolling on 18-inch alloys shod with modest section 225/45 Bridgestone Potenza tires, not the loaded, top-of-the-range, $49,500 GT, with the punchy 365-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 under the hood and bigger wheels and tires all round. The only option fitted was the $2,000 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems package, which bundles together active safety technologies such as forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, and rear cross-traffic alerts. Total price? $33,900.
Itâs a steal. There isnât a better sporty, rear-drive, four-door coupe for the money in the business. Actually, there simply isnât any other sporty, rear-drive, four-door coupe for the money, period. This Kia is in a class all its own.
The Stinger looks the part, with a sweeping roofline, a broad shouldered stance, and strong graphics. From some angles there are distant echoes of the Maserati 3200 GT designed by Giugiaro in the late 1990s; itâs a trick of the eye, of course, because the two cars are completely different, but it speaks to the effort Kiaâand now also Hyundaiâdesign supremo Peter Schreyer put into a car that in many ways has been a personal passion project. I recall Schreyer showing me a sketch of a car that would become the Kia GT concept unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Showâharbinger of the Stingerâand insisting he was going to get it made.
Apart from the smaller wheels and less aggressively styled front and rear fascias, there are few visual differences between the Stinger and the more powerful GT. The GT gets also some extra badging, smoked chrome trim, and red-painted brake calipers, but thatâs about it. Both cars rock quad exhausts and vents on the hood and bodyside. The Stinger might be the entry-level model, but it doesnât look it.
There are a few more tells inside, however. The base Stinger is the only model in the lineup (the others are the $37,000 Stinger Premium, the $39,000 Stinger GT, the $43,500 Stinger GT1, and aforementioned $49,500 Stinger GT2) with an old school foot operated e-brake and a simple 3.5-inch LCD display on the instrument panel. All others get a state-of-the-moment electronic e-brake switch and a 7.0-inch TFT screen between the tach and the speedo. The V-6-powered GTs also all come with a flat-bottom steering wheel, aluminum trim instead of gloss black plastic on the center console, and GT logos embossed into the headrests. Thatâs not to say the base Stinger is a penalty box. Standard equipment includes a leather-bound heated steering wheel, leather seatsâwhich are power adjustable and heated up frontâand a 7.0-inch audio display touchscreen that can run Kiaâs UVO infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Stinger is built on the Hyundai/Kia rear-drive architecture, which will also underpin the forthcoming Genesis G70. As weâve noted before, itâs a surprisingly large vehicle, 7.5-inches longer overall than a BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, with a 3.8-inch longer wheelbase. The longer wheelbase helps not only deliver a roomy interior and generously proportioned load space, but it also delivers decent rolling ride quality, especially on L.A.âs notoriously choppy freeways.
At 3,649 pounds, the base Stinger weighs the same as a 2.0-liter Audi A5 coupe, despite having two extra doors and a hatchback, and is 356 pounds lighter than a fully loaded, V-6 powered Stinger GT. Developing its 255 hp at 6,200 rpm and 260lb-ft of torque at 1,400-4,500 rpm, the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-banger under the hood boasts better power density than similar engines from Audi and BMW. That doesnât translate to a performance advantage on the track, however.
The Stinger runs 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds, 1.4 seconds slower than the 2.0-liter A5 coupe, and 1.1 seconds slower than the BMW 330i sedan we tested earlier this year. The quarter mile takes 15 seconds even, the Kia sailing through the top end at 95.2 mph. The Audi nails it in 13.8 seconds at 100.5 mph, and the BMW nails it in 14.3 seconds at 98.5 mph. Things are a little closer on the figure eightâthe Stingerâs 26.8-second time is just five-tenths of a second off the A5 coupe and seven-tenths behind the BMW sedan.
A lot of the performance advantage enjoyed by the Audi is down to its smooth, efficient, and lightning fast DSG transmission; the Stingerâs Hyundai/Kia engineered eight-speed shifts slower, and its torque converter chews more power. The BMWâs advantage is massâthe smaller 3 Series sedan weighs 112 pounds lessâand the fact the guys in Munich still know a thing or two about making a car go around corners. But part of the issue is the Stingerâs engine; although relatively quiet and refined, and with good mid-range punch, it doesnât quite have the crisp throttle response of the Germans, especially below 2,000 rpm.
Think about those last couple of paragraphs for a second, though: Weâve just been comparing a Kia with an Audi and a BMW. Of course anyone can play the numbers game on the track, and any comparison with Germanyâs elite would be meaningless if the Kia Stinger drove like a cheap and cheerful bucket of bolts on the road. The point is, it doesnât. That sound you hear is sharp intakes of breath in Ingolstadt and Munich.
The Stinger drives more like a European car than anything from Korea so far and most things from Japan. Thereâs a measured, almost Germanic, weighting to all the controls and to the body motions. It doesnât have the grunt to indulge in smoky powerslides with all the nannies switched offâas you can in the rear-drive V-6sâbut the chassis feels lively and entertaining, nonetheless. A little more initial bite from the brakes would be helpful to smoothly settle the car on corner entry, and a touch more front-end grip would complement the accurate steering, but otherwise the Stinger feels impressively consistent and composed through the twisty bits.
As dusk settled on the run back to L.A., it became obvious the standard headlights were better suited for cruising the bright lights of Seoul than the dark canyons of the San Gabriel Mountains, the Stinger easily outrunning even high beam. However, the $37,000 Stinger Premium is available with brighter LED headlights (and the extra money also buys you a sunroof, a power adjustable steering column, the 7.0-inch TFT screen in the instrument panel, the electronic e-brake, memory for the seat adjustment, sat-nav, and a 15-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, which makes it a solid value). And we prefer the snickety-snick action of the electronic PRNDL shifter on the top-level GT to the slightly clunky feel of the old school T-bar item on the rest of the lineup.
Yep, weâre down to picking nits. For a first effort at a car like this, the four-cylinder Kia Stinger is genuinely impressive. And the more we drive it, the more it reminds us of a proto-BMW 3 Series. Itâs not yet fully formed and not yet fully mature, but itâs a car that, should it follow a logical evolutionary path, could eventually occupy the same hallowed ground as the 3 Series once did among enthusiasts who wanted an affordable, sporty, rear-drive car they could drive every day.
And the chances of that happening? Well, as former BMW M engineering veep Albert Biermann is now Hyundai/Kiaâs head of high performance vehicle development, youâd be foolish to bet against it, especially given the Korean automakerâs lavish R&D spending and the dizzying speed with which it brings new vehicles to market. Be afraid, BMW. Be very afraid.
