Flashback - Formula One Russian Grand Prix, Sochi 2021.

Everyone was standing in the garage, the air stark with tension, thick enough to cut a knife, every team member, both in Daniel’s garage and Lando’s. The commentators voices drowned out to nothing but a mumble in your ears as you stood onto the side, watching the screen, biting your lip in anticipation.

A collective groan rang through the garage as you heard the radio message of the young Brit - ‘it’s full wet boys’. A victory that had been so close for him, almost tantalisingly close…slipping away quicker than it had ever come. You couldn’t imagine how he felt.

Sure, you weren’t much more than an intern, someone who just helped around with drinks and handing our coffees and teas, but everyone in the team felt that. To be honest, when someone asked your job, you just said you worked as a PA.

You weren’t entirely sure what you did yourself. Sometimes you were handing out refreshments, the next you were filling out paperwork, and the next, you were rushing around with towels and holding jewellery for drivers that you’d never taken the jewellery from.

You were like the little tag-along of the team, and not in a condescending way, everyone liked you. Anyways, back to the moment. You could see the faces fall from the mechanics round the garage, as they grabbed the tyres to change on Lando’s car, as you gripped onto the little pen in your hand.

And Lando, well, he was frustrated. That could’ve been his first ever win, his first ever win after being in the sport for nearly three years and it had slipped away from him through nothing but his naivety and panicked state, the win slipping through his fingers quicker than anything.

You sighed, equally as disappointed as the rest of the team as you made your way to the store cupboard, pulling out some fresh white towels, a few unopened water bottles from the chiller, and the little dish containing a few of Lando’s rings, carefully carrying them to his driver room.

You said nothing as you walked on, sensing the frustration from the young Brit, the way his hand clenched and unclenched round the pillow on the massage bed. “Cheers,” he mumbled as you laid down the towels onto the side, along with the rest of the stuff. He stood up, stretching slightly - he had media duties.

“Better luck next time, it was just one race,” you said, placing the water bottles on the side as Lando tensed. “Excuse me- I…whatever,” he snapped, shutting the door, the slam of it making you jump. You absolutely had not meant it to hurt him, of course you hadn’t, you just hadn’t…thought.

“Wait, Lando, I-,” you opened the door, as the driver turned around, his eyes narrowed slightly. “I didn’t mean it to offend or hurt you, I just didn’t think it’d-,” you started, panic overtaking you as he scoffed, cutting you off. “And that’s why our team doesn’t need people like you, Y/N or whatever your name is,”.

Ouch. “You don’t think, and this team, fuck, this sport needs people who can think and actually use that thing inside there,” he tapped his own head rather harshly. And his words were just as brutal too, as you flinched slightly, your arms falling weakly to your side. “I’m sorry, I didn’t-,”. You didn’t even get to finish as he stormed off.

Time Skip - Present Day - One Hour Before Baku Qualifying 2024

Once again, you were carrying a small tray of coffee cups, walking round Oscar’s side of the garage and handing them out to thankful mechanics. You’d grown to be a proper part of the team, someone who everyone relied on, and you were always there for them. Much to Lando’s dislike.

He’d had many meetings with Zak, purely based on him not wanting you around him or even in the team for that matter, only to be shut down immediately. People needed you, the spirit of the team needed you, and yes, Lando was the driver and he had a say, but what use was a good driver without a team to back him?

“Hey Y/N,” Oscar smiled, taking one of the cups from your tray. You and Oscar had grown quite close over time, actually, for he had been more…appreciative of your work, to say the least. “Oh. Hey,” you smiled, walking round the garage as more mechanics came to take their selection of drinks.

“Looking good for Quali, eh?” the Aussie smiled as you hummed, looking at the warm weather, the clock ticking ever closer to Qualifying. “Yeah, it looks great,” you said, “good weather, tyres could heat up, though,” you grimaced at the thought of tyres, grained and burned up, flat spots and the lot.

“Always thought you’d be an amazing mechanic, or a driver, even,” he snickered, sitting down onto one of the stools as you put the tray down. “Yeah right,” you scoffed, “give up your seat for me then,”. Oscar rolled his eyes at the comment, as if he’d do that anyways. “I’m sure you’d rather Lando give up his seat,”.

“So he can run around with a tray of coffees? He wouldn’t be very motivating, like me,” you said jokingly, flicking your hair over your shoulder as Oscar scoffed. “Catch you later, yeah?” he smiled, squeezing your shoulders as you smiled, stepping through the door to take your tray to Lando’s side of the garage.

You didn’t even spare a glance in Lando’s direction as you carried the tray, a smile plastered onto your face as you carried the tray, the mechanics gratefully taking their cups of coffee or tea. The scent of rubber was something you’d grown up surrounded by, always attending races with your brother, back when he had karted.

He hadn’t made it successfully, and instead worked in economics or whatever, but you were far more interested. And if working in F1, even if it was handing around beverages, was enough for you. You lived for the scent of gasoline and rubber and the adrenaline. You were part of the team.

Lando himself was by the car, in his team polo and classic black jeans, but god, simply your presence was which to grate at his nerves. You’d been with the team for a while now, and somehow, your presence felt like a constant thorn in his side. It wasn’t just your bubbly personality—it was the way you seemed to breeze through everything while he was drowning in expectations and pressure.

“Want a drink?” your smile half slid down off your face. Unfortunately, you’d been reprimanded a few too many times than you’d like to admit for just ignoring Lando and not giving him a drink. Something about equality, or whatever. Bullshit. “No,” Lando replied almost immediately, so fast it was like he hadn’t even bothered to hear out your question.

“Well, you’re gonna crash if you’re dehydrated,” you argued as he rolled your eyes. “Isnt your job to serve people and not be a pain in my ass?” he scoffed, his voice curt and cold as your grip on the tray tightened almost painfully. “I’m here to do my job, Lando,” you replied, your tone turning slightly annoyed. “I’m not the one making this personal.”

“Not personal? You’ve made it your mission to annoy me since the day you started,” he retorted. You crossed your arms, unyielding. “Maybe you’re just too sensitive. Not everyone thinks you’re the golden boy,” you shot back, your voice filled with equally as much spite. “Bullshit,” he said over your voice, rolling his eyes as he resisted the urge to flip you off.

“Yeah, well, I don’t need your opinion,” he shot back, the tension between you both thickening. “Fine,” you said, exhaling sharply. “But don’t come whining to me when you’re dehydrated and struggling out there,” you took your tray back into your arms. “Like I’d ever ask you for anything,” he spat, turning away from her.

Time Skip - Start of Baku Qualifying 2024

Even though you were positively sure that you hated Lando, the tension thick in the air between the both of you, you were all for Lando winning the championship now that he has a shot, though a small one. He was, after all, a McLaren driver, and you’d been with that team just as long as Lando had. So reluctantly, you dragged yourself once more into his garage, clutching a bottle.

“Lando, are you seriously going to just stand there?” you called out, hands on your hips, a water bottle in one hand. “You need to drink some water before you hit the track!”. He rolled his eyes, irritation bubbling to the surface. “I’m fine, Y/N. I don’t need you to babysit me,” he snapped, his voice irritable and laced with a hint of frustration.

Your expression hardened, eyebrows raised. “This isn’t babysitting! It’s called being a responsible driver. You know, hydration is key?” you said the words, almost as if you were mocking him. “Hydration? You think I’m going to forget to drink water because you’re not around?” he shot back, his voice laced with sarcasm. “Maybe if you spent less time nagging me and more time doing your job, we wouldn’t be in this situation.”

“Excuse me?” you retorted, stepping closer, unflinching. “You think just because you’re the driver, you can ignore basic health? Everyone here is trying to help you succeed, but you’re too stubborn to see it,” you held the icy water bottle in your hand, tightening round the plastic. That made Lando scoff. “I don’t need your help. I’ve been doing this for years. Maybe you should focus on the drinks instead of acting like my coach.”

“Right, because handing out water is all I’m good for,” you shot back, crossing your arms. “You know, for someone who claims to be a professional, you’re really not acting like one. It’s like you want to make this harder for yourself,” you sneered. God, did he even mature since that race in Sochi? He was still acting like he was 8 years old, for goodness sake. It was just water, not poison!

“Harder? You think I’m making it harder? I’m just trying to get through qualifying without dealing with you lecturing me!” he snapped. “Fine, I’d like to see you get out of Q1 let alone win the stupid championship anyways,” you scoffed, thrusting the bottle at his chest as he scrambled to catch it, an indignant scoff on his lips.

“Yeah, go away, then!” he called after you as he pulled his gloves on furiously, thrusting the bottle straight into the bin, as a few of the mechanics watched Lando flip you off as you walked away to Oscar’s garage. “Go support your sweet little Oscar, then! See if I care!” he declared as you huffed, walking away and not looking back.

And down came the clock, ticking and ticking, the scene of Sochi almost replicated, mechanics chewing their nails off, eyes wide as it ticked slowly, a collective groan as Lando slowed down, forced to do so by the momentarily slip of the yellow flag…ruining his lap. Wow, it was like you’d truly cursed him, no? And, well, shit was he pissed.

You stayed well out of his way as he walked into the garage, ignoring everyone and anyone who tried to speak to him, to offer some sort of reassurance. He was the title contender for the Formula One World Championship, he was one of twenty of the most talented men to drive, and this was where he qualified? It was bullshit.

“You could sense the frustration from him as he walked past you, his water bottle in hand once again, lips round the straw, his face set and cap pulled down low. It was almost ironic how much he was drinking now, compared to his previous stubbornness to do so. Well, whatever. He was annoying anyway, it was in his nature.

“Where’s my down bottle?” he snapped, looking to your expectantly as he paused in the garages, the mechanics going silent, grimacing as they watched yet another set of bickering unfold between the pair of you. “What? I don’t carry your bottle around, I’m not your caddy-,” you started, a scowl on your face at the demeaning tone in his voice.

“Y/N, I don’t have time to hear you yapping,” he snapping, speaking over your voice loudly, glaring at you, the heat and frustration from the qualifying evident in his voice. You really should just go and find it or whatever, it would decreased the tensions, but no! You can’t let Lando just walk all over you.

“You’re the-the water girl, yeah? So where’s my damn drink?” he scoffed. You rolled your eyes, thrusting an iced water at him as he snarled. “Seriously? My bottle, Y/N, the black one with the straw with the very obvious Monster logo on it? Pretty hard to miss,” he said sarcastically as you groaned again.

“It’s wherever the fuck you left it, Lando!” you snapped, exhausted of his constant nabbing, “I don’t carry your bottle around like a stupid lost puppy, my job’s to provide refreshments,” you scowled. “Yeah, well itd be rather refreshing if you’d shut the fuck up and do your job,” he flipped you off, storming away as you scoffed.

When you and Mark were dating, you supported him throughout his career in F1. Now that you were married and had a teenage daughter, you were supporting another person in F1, Oscar. He was young, talented and skilled. You were sure that in a couple of years he would be world champion. You tried to attend as many races as you could, mostly during the summer since your and Mark’s daughter was out of school. Your daughter was studying in Harvard at the moment meaning you and Mark haven’t seen her since spring break. She had secretly made plans to surprise you and Mark at the race. Oscar was the one that had gotten her a paddock pass.

It was Oscar’s first home race so you knew you had to attend. It was going to be a special one after all. You got up early to start getting ready while Mark was getting a few extra minutes of sleep.

Mark still asleep shirtless. He looked so peaceful that you didn’t want to bother him considering he arrived home late the night before, but you had a tight schedule to follow. You walked to the bed and gently placed a kiss on his cheek.

“Mark, you have to get up, honey. Oscar might already be waiting for us at the track. It’s race day.”

“Give me five minutes.” He mumbled.

“I’ll let you do anything when we get back—” You couldn’t even finish since Mark had gotten immediately.

“We wouldn’t want to keep Oscar waiting, hurry up, love.” He tried to give you a morning kiss but you stopped him. “What? Don’t act like you care about morning breath now.”

“I already put on lipstick—”

“And you can put it on again. I want to kiss my wife.” You rolled your eyes, but gave in.

As Mark got ready, you made sure you had your paddock passes. Eventually you made it out of the house and now you were on your way to the circuit. Mark had his hand on your thigh while the other was on the steering wheel. When you made it to the paddock entrance, Oscar was waiting with his girlfriend Lily.

“Hi, I hope we didn’t keep you waiting for too long.” You said as you exited the car. “Lily, so great to see you again.” You greeted the girl.

“Hi Mrs. Webber, great to see you too.” Lily replied.

The group of four made their way into paddock, greeting fans and photographers. Mark held your hand making you remember the times when you were still dating and Mark was still racing. You followed Mark and Oscar to the Mclaren garage since Lily had excused herself to go to the Mclaren motorhome. It felt nice to be back.

“Mrs. Webber!” Lando greeted you as soon as he saw you. “Lovely to see you as always.”

“Hi Lando.” You hugged the Brit.

“No mini Webber today?” He asked when he noticed your daughter wasn’t with you.

“No, she’s in Massachusetts. She sends luck to both of you though.” Mark responded.

Oscar wasn’t one to spill secrets, but when he knew something that he wasn’t supposed to tell anyone, he would act nervous. He absolutely hated it.

“She is? Nice, right? Who would’ve thought that mini Webber would go to Harvard!” Lando and Oscar were both called by Zak so they excused themselves from the couple.

“Okay . . .” You brushed it off as him being nervous about the race. You scooted closer to Mark. “First home race must be getting to him.” You whispered.

“I’ll take care of him, love.”

“Don’t forget about Lando.”

The 2023 Australian Grand Prix was one big chaotic mess and you were there to witness it. It felt like a rollercoaster of emotions when the race was restarted again. After three red flags and 58 laps, Max had won.

“P8 for Oscar, what a race.” Mark said, sitting beside you. “You can let go of my hand now, honey, race is over.” He gestured to your hand that tightly held his. He couldn’t remember what lap you decided to hold it, but he didn’t mind.

“Thank fuck. I thought I was going to have a heart attack or something.” You let go. “I just wish my baby girl was here.”

“She’ll be home soon. Summer is just around the corner and then we’ll have a moody teen girl with a coffee addiction in our house. Doesn’t that sound fun?”

When Oscar got back to the garage, you and Mark were there to celebrate his points. “You did so well! Good job, Osc!” You hugged the driver.

“Thank you, Mrs. Webber.” Oscar smiled.

“Oh! Where’s Lando? Was it P6 or 7? Who cares? Points for the Mclaren boys!” You cheered as you left to go find Lando. Lando’s race engineer had told you that the driver was in his driver’s room so you walked to the room in search of the Brit.

As you were about to knock on the door, Lando and your daughter came out. Talk about perfect timing. . .

“Mum . . Hi.” Your daughter laughed nervously.

“Listen, I love you to death but what are you doing here? You should be in Boston!” You scolded the girl.

“This sounds like a family matter so I’m just going to go.” Lando tried to leave it you stepped in front of him. “Hi Mrs. Webber.” He innocently said.

“Good job on getting points.” You sighed and gave him a hug. “Now care to explain?”

“It was her idea! I am the true victim here!”

“You jerk!”

“Okay! Stop it.” You raised your voice. “Sweetheart, what’s going on?”

“I wanted to surprise you and dad by coming here and Lando and Oscar were helping me so I hid here. I’m only here for a couple days . . I missed you guys.” She explained.

“Yeah, what she said.” Lando added.

“We missed you too. I am definitely surprised and dad will be too. Come on, we have to celebrate the Mclaren boys scoring points!” You grabbed your daughters hand and walked together to meet up with Mark and Oscar.

Lando stayed behind a bit confused. “You’re not mad at me, right Mrs. Webber?”

“So you excited for the first race” I said. “You know you could still join me at Red Bull” Max said. “Max I love you but I’m happy” I said. “I know you are just blue suits you better” Max said. “Hmmm okay let’s the going to the track” I said.

We drove to the track for the first race of the new season. I walked in with Max. As always the Netflix cameras were filming us.

“How was the break for the lovely power couple” the producers asked. “It was wonderful” I said. “Would be even better if she took the Red Bull deal” Max said I laughed. “Never” I said. “Alright this is me love you” Max said kissing me.

“Love you” I said giving him a kiss as he walked into the Red Bull paddock. “So you didn’t take the deal” the producers asked. “Personally I’m a McLaren girl so” I said with a smile. “Y/N” Lando yelled from the McLaren paddock.

“Lan” I said running over and hugging him. “I missed my best friend so much” Lando said. “I missed you too Lan” I said. “Got some good strategies for me” Lando said sitting beside me. I opened up my laptop. “Yes I do so please pay attention” I said.

“Alright I’m listening I promise” Lando said with a smile. “Okay good let me pull up the last stats” I said. “You organize everything huh” Lando asked. “It’s better to be organized Lan” I said.

Later…

Lando was in P2 of this race. Max was in P1. I was trying to figure out a good strategy for him. People always thought I’d favor Max over Lando. But when it came to racing. Lando was top priority to me.

I love Max I do. But I’m not working for Red Bull. And I’m here to make sure Lando comes out on top.

“Lando the gap to Max is 1.8 seconds now” I said. “There’s one lap left do you think I have time to pass” Lando said over the radio. “The team doesn’t wanna risk the position Lando” I said. Zak nodded. “What do you think though Y/N” Lando asked.

“Lan P2 is great and Oscar is P4 we will have good points” I said he sighed. “…okay Y/N that’s fine then love” Lando said. “Love Lando” I said he laughed. “I’m sorry.. okay so how was that” Lando said.

He crossed the finish line in P2.

“P2 Lando congratulations that’s major points and a podium” I said smiling. “Thank you so much Y/N great strategy today” Lando said. “Great race Lan we are proud of you” I said. “Next time we get that P1 Y/N” Lando said.

“Definitely Lando your day is coming I know that” I said. “I couldn’t do it without you thank you for being here” Lando said.

We then went over to Lando. I hugged him.

“Good job” I said. “You had the best idea” Lando said. “I am pretty great aren’t I” I said. “You are indeed” Lando said. “Oscar great race” I said hugging him. “I might need your help too” Oscar said. “Nope she’s all mine” Lando said.

I then saw Max looking over at me.

“Go get him” Lando said. “Yeah go be all cute together” Oscar said. I ran over and hugged Max. He picked me up and spun me around. “My lucky charm” Max said I kissed him. “Am I” I said.

“You are always my lucky charm” Max said. “I love you” I said kissing his cheek. “I love you more” Max said. “I gotta go with my team but I’m proud of you” I said. “I’ll see you after” Max said.

After all the celebrating. Max and I went back to our apartment to enjoy the rest of the evening.

“Would you stop cleaning” Max said picking me up. “Max I gotta before we leave again” I said he set me down on the couch. “No no not tonight” Max said. “Your so mean” I said he bent down and kissed me.

“You look good in a Red Bull shirt” Max said. “Tell anyone and I’ll steal your tires” I said. “Who’s gonna help you do that” Max said. “Roscoe I’ll have you know I’m his favorite” I said. “So if anything goes missing it was you and Ros” Max said.

“Mmmh” I said. “So what do you want to do and don’t say cleaning” Max said. “I actually wanna talk to you about something” I said. “What’s up” Max said. “Do you think we’d ever get married” I said he sat up. “I don’t know” Max said.

“We’ve just been together for four years I mean I want a future with you” I said. “I just don’t know” Max said. “Max.. you’ve known that I want to get married and have kids” I said. “But we are so young” Max said. “Can you just answer the question would you marry me” I said.

An Officer and a Gentleman. That ending gets me every fucking time, and I don’t know how I would Steddiefy it but I’d try. Steve in the Zak role and Eddie would obviously be his Paula. ❤️ I like it too because there is plenty of angst in the movie. Lots to play with.

A Star Is Born. I mean, pretty self explanatory that one, but it hit me recently that this would be perfect fodder for Steddie. Eddie in the Jackson Maine role (I mean, you could do the 1937, 1954 or 1976 versions instead, but I’m thinking 2018), and Steve in the Ally role. Full of romance, angst, drama and a bit of whump, delicious.

Ok this is the one I really want to write: Vietnam War. It’s a special interest for me, I have a lot of books on the subject, I’ve watched the Ken Burns doc more times than is healthy, and my first major fandom was The A Team, which was pure 80s action entertainment for the family, but the fanfic… oh, the fanfic. ❤️ This is the one I’ve given really serious thought to, but it’s also the one that needs a lot of research. I have a starting point, Eddie receiving his draft letter, coming home from work and Wayne at the kitchen table with the letter in his hand, absolutely dejected because he knows what it is. Thing is, I’m not sure that it’s a big sprawling epic of a plot that I want to write, more moments in time, vignettes, and maybe not all Eddie POV either. I have an idea for Jonathan meeting Nancy, who is an army nurse, and them falling in love. I think a series might work better, I dunno. But yeah, it’s always rattling around at the back of my mind.

okay so "why not just be friendly like they are with other guys" is a pretty good thing to focus on bc when you actually break it down, Lando and Oscar define themselves as being pretty shy and they conceal a fair amount their lives and closest friends from the public. and truth is that it seems to take both of them at least a year of knowing someone before they open up - and even longer before they're as friendly as we see them with guys like Logan, Zhou, Carlos or Daniel. Lando lists the guys he's known since as far back as karting as his closest friends. so after just one season together, what we already have in terms of friendliness between Lando and Oscar is pretty damn good!

but honestly we can't say that either of them are really holding back at all when we've got Andrea and Zak constantly emphasizing how in sync they are and then of course how big they both show up for each other's wins/poles etc. whatever we don't get in terms of fun fandom content, we've got them showing each other mutual respect and support and sharing the same priorities. that's... really good imo.

it's what cracks me up abt everyone who went all 'planetf1 angry white dad in oakleys selfie in a truck comment section' over that recent Oscar quote. Lando's literally had everyone saying the same thing to him, directly and on social media ?? did they also decide that Martin Brundle, Natalie Pinkham, Lawrence Barretto and Jenson Button all despise Lando and want to take swipes at him by saying that his public flagellation feels of no use and worse, that it's probably a hindrance to his mindset? did Lando suddenly became loathed by all these people who SEEM to openly like or love him bc they said that ??

or did they expect Oscar to respond to that question with "oh no yeah it's cool that my teammate who I actually like shits all over himself and gives his haters ammo y'know to each their own whatever man" bc that WOULD actually be incredibly cold and hurtful asgajsgfljasf

I know fandom can go way off track and start expecting these men to talk like fan fic but the truth is that they view each other as professionals and fellow drivers first and friends (if they are) second. I won't repeat myself bc I've posted about it enough but none of the grid are a significant part of Lando or Oscar's life outside F1. Lando and Martin did a stopover in Perth (and apparently Martin even had work there?) for one day to ride dirt bikes at Daniel's ranch and Lando went to Carlos' sisters' gigantic state wedding lol. doesn't compare at all compared to Lando's time spent with Max F, the quadrant folks, his family, his Monaco friends and definitely not Martin Garrix. it also doesn't mean that they're not still friends with those guys on the grid - it's just not the same.

so the fact that Lando and Oscar aren't out here dishing out bromancey stuff where fans can see and hear definitely doesn't say that those bromances mean the drivers are actually any closer. Oscar relied on extroverts like Robert and Arthur to give him something to play off and Lando relied on Carlos and Daniel for the same. so when they're left without a gobby extrovert they do that cute thing of giggling and handing back and forth to each other. to me personally it's always kind of sweet ?? that Lando and Oscar do the thing of looking at each other for support to get through the cringey and awkward to camera stuff. sometimes when Lando is really feeling himself Oscar can just kick back and watch him. and as we saw w that helmet design video, even when Oscar isn't filming w Lando he hangs around offers support.

wow apparently I cannot stay on track today anon but idk I just personally think that it's the opposite of a mutual fakeout and they've bonded pretty well over both being shy, both being equally focused on their careers and also needing to switch off sometimes. finding out they spent the night after Lando's crash in Vegas together sharing "commiserations" is like, one in a long list of us hearing that they chose to hang out alone together and not publicize it.

all of us are on the outside of their friendship and as much as that suuuuucks for not getting as much content as we want, it's also really sweet and kind more likely to be genuine and lasting since they consider a lot of that relationship as private <3

askgfka no prob!! tbh a lot of the stress and anxiety in other Lando ships is down to ppl getting way too comfy w the idea that real life partners either aren't "real" or that they're the only thing standing in the way of their ship becoming real.

and bc for some reason landoscar makes me want to write all of these essays I feel like it's kind of my responsibility to be like yeah, there's even more than just assuming ppl's sexualities and their real life partners stand between two ppl we like to imagine together actually getting together. rpf is heavy on the f and mostly what we're all actually enjoying are friendships. and as someone who is lucky to have them, I personally wouldn't be one of those ppl who said romantic partners and friendships are on some sliding scale of importance. they're just different!

ever since landoscar became a thing, Lily's been in Oscar's life and Lando's been pursued by every man who sees him and burning through baddies on Raya on a literal global scale. it's important to come back from rpf to that fact so we don't end up attraction those legions of people calling real life girlfriends "PR beards" or that Lando's dating app horniness is some front for him meeting up with Carlos or Daniel or whoever lol.

oh I am so not the person to answer abt this since I can't relate to wanting couples to get married or thinking that it's all that significant! I'm a huge romantic and I theoretically enjoy the idea of weddings/marriage but all the ppl I know who've gotten married out of college are already regretting or cheating it so it's put a real damper on it for me.

but that's as much as I want to speculate abt them bc I don't want to put anything out in the universe for ppl I'll never even know !!

Sympathy Is A Knife - Charlando

The press surrounding him is already feral. They’re waiting. Max Verstappen has a meteoric rise, but Charles Leclerc has something different. He has the Tifosi singing his name like a song, he has Ferrari on their knees.  And even with all that, Charles Leclerc has just been so utterly human to Lando Norris. Another boy with a dream.  Another boy with a dream, and somehow, he’s still one of Lando’s idols. So human, and yet, he’s carried to sainthood. There’s only 1 year in Formula 1 separating them, and only two years separating them in age, and yet Lando wishes that he knew what it was like to be upheld like that. He knows who his idols should be. He knows Max Verstappen should be on that list, making a name for himself, the youngest driver to join F1. No History in GP2 to speak of. But where Max is just Max, Charles is larger than life. Broad smile, bright eyes, the warmest thing Lando thinks he’s ever seen.

I Hope It Eats Your Soul - Age-gap Landoscar

“Have you talked to Will about Oscar’s times yet?” Zak asks, and before waiting for an answer, ploughs forwards still, “They’re really promising, built a car for you but it seems to suit the kid too,” and Zak sounds fucking enamoured by the fact that he’s got a car built for two drivers, a season built for the two of them, for McLaren in the constructors.  “Maybe we can one two it this year,” Lando says, and the smile that he gives Zak is a little too sharp to be anything other than carnivorous, “I’ll be number one, of course,” and the laugh that Zak gives isn’t reassuring, something tentative and hesitant about it, almost like he’s choking on the sound as it leaves his lips.  “He’s a rookie, Zak,” is Lando’s acerbic reply, “You can’t actually believe that he’ll win a championship. Even Lewis couldn’t do it,” voice derisive, “And Lewis is absolutely better than the kid,” 

I HAVE BEEN PRODUCTIVE WHILE TRAVELLING. Still haven't finished anything but it is what it is.

Sweet fluff, angst, Bobby with tattoos?? Bob is down bad for her in this and I love that for him. A sweet read! 

Sugar and Spice, Jake Seresin, @wombtotombx This was the VERY FIRST Tumblr fic I ever read and what brought me into the TGM fandom, so thank you SB! I just love an enemies to lovers story, and Grace and Jake’s relationship is such a push and pull. It also helps that the author has really in-depth knowledge of the Navy, and I’ve learned so much reading their stories! 

The Professor, Jake Seresin, @topguncortez What’s a list like this without a fic from G?? Seriously, she hits it out of the park with this one. Slightly dark, definitely condescending, asshole Jake as a PROFESSOR? Fucking hell get me a fan, I’m sweating. But honestly, their relationship is equal parts spicy and angsty and entirely believable and I just love it so much. Plus, we get a little Rooster and Bob side character action. 

Trouble in Paradise, Bradley Bradshaw, @sunlightmurdock This fic absolutely haunts me, in the best possible way. From the smutty goodness to just the painful realizations throughout and the setting, I always find myself going back to this fic. It’s also one story that literally patrols my thoughts, like it just pops up out of the blue and I love that! Katie’s entire masterlist is my fucking drug so it’s no surprise that I love this story so much, but if you haven’t read this it is a MUST. Also the setting makes it a perfect summer read! 

You Said You’d Grow Old With Me, Bradley Bradshaw, @blue-aconite Don’t want to cry today? Too freaking bad. Fe is going to make you cry with this, and you’ll love her for it. Bradley x soulmate; I said what I said.

Also Meredith is the QUEEN of sass and snappy commentary (I aspire to be her).
