you spot him slouched against the side of the taco truck, curls flattened from sweat and his own hands. there's powdered sugar on his lips. his phone's in one hand, the other holding a half-eaten churro.

lando sees you and his face changes.

"you came," he says, voice a little hoarse. "finally."

you walk up, wobbly on your heels, heart all over the place. "yeah. i had to. you were being dramatic."

"i'm hard," he says instantly. "and i missed you."

you nearly trip. "lando."

he shrugs, eyes dragging down your body without shame. "look at you. fuck. that top's killing me."

you��re giggling before you can stop it. "you're drunk."

"so are you. and you kissed me."

"you kissed me first, okay?"

"you were straddling me. in the club."

you pause. "you asked me to sit in your lap. you liked it."

lando nods. "loved it, yeah."

you're both quiet for a second. he's watching your mouth and you're watching the way his chest moves when he breathes. his hoodie's sliding off one shoulder and your fingers twitch like they want to touch him.

"you're so pretty it's making me insane," lando says. "like i want to fuck you and cuddle you at the same time and i don't know what to do about it."

you're breathless. "jesus."

"don't call him." your noses almost touch. "call me."

you laugh into his neck. "you're ridiculous."

"you're glowing" lando mumbles, hands sliding down your sides. "like. actually glowing. i can't believe i've known you this long and didn't do something about it."

you tilt your head back. "do something now."

he kisses you like you're a prize he's earned, slow, filthy, so hungry it makes your knees weak. his hands are all over--waist, hips, ass, back under your top like he needs to feel skin now.

you break away, panting. "lando, we're at a taco truck."

"yeah," he says, mouth all over your jaw. "so hurry up and let's leave. before i do something i'll get arrested for."

you grin. "you're such a slut."

he laces your fingers together and starts walking backward toward the street, still staring at you like you're his first and last meal.

their time in high school is called sunset era . their main plot is called . u guessed it . dusk era.

dm is well known within their hometown bc hes basically just . a living science experiment . hes one of the most interesting parts of the town . also he helps out a lot with odd jobs here and there so a lot of people know of him

despite this people still sorta keep their distance from him and dont rlly bother to get close to him . dm is used to this at this point . this is also why cares abt lp so much . this little guy is probs the first person to actually care about him as a person after. yk . petey. Lmfao.

i reckon dm immediately recognizes how lp and petey look nearly identical . i think hed feel weird about it initially (mostly just sad) but eventually just dismiss it as a coincidence . obvs until he meets petey and realizes Okay this is Not a coincidence.

their hometown is like . a mountain town . a town in a mountainous region . yeah

"dog man" used to be a name he was called in high school in like. a Mean way. and he did Not like it. but overtime he just got desensitized to it because Nobody would call him by his actual name . now he truly does not care about being called dog man . its just a title for him .

this is also a part of the reason why he misses petey . he was like the only person to call him greg . he may not care abt being caleld dm but he misses being called greg.

for majority of dusk au petey calls dm dog man . he doesnt call him greg until they acknowledge their shared history . i reckon the first time he calls him greg in dusk era dm gets a little emotional LMFAO

back in high school dm was homeless . he was able to sleep at school bc chief (principal of school) would let him spend the nights in his office . he was like his dad in a way . he couldnt rlly adopt him js bc he had his own life stuff going on and he felt woefully underprepared to have total responsibility of a child especially not a teen but he always made sure he was safe and ate well .

anyways this means that whenever he and petey walked home it was more so dm just walking petey home and making sure he got home safe and then turning around and going back to school . he never told him that . he just pretended like his house was a little further down the road .

the convenience store is also smth that chief helped him with . like getting the actual building in the first place and setting it up

that being said the convenience store is also dms house . theres like a studio in the back that he js lives in .

i think chief has a vague idea that something happened eith dm and petey pregrad and thats the reason dm is insisting on staying in their hometown even tho he used to seem pretty open to the idea of leaving town for his education. this is also why hes kinda skeptical when petey comes back and dm tells him abt how theyve been spending time tgth again ESP when dm tells him that peteys completely avoiding talking about their history . he js wants the best for dm 😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️

theres are several canon events during the sunset era:

-> event where petey is riled up and pissed off and lwk freaking out and dm takes him to coin karaoke to get him to blow off steam . they get rlly drunk off of cheap booze and just . generally have a good time . its also one of the fastest and most effective ways petey has Ever been calmed down in his life and he tries to ignore how that makes him feel kinda soft

-> event where dm and petey take a bus to the coast at like 2 am or smth . and they just sorta talk and splash around in the water . Heavily inspired by the yeosu sea . (listen to yeosu night sea by busker busker!) since theyre used to being surrounded by mountains, being in such an open place is very refreshing for them both. esp petey who feels suffocated and trapped by their hometown . like yes his moving away post grad was partially bc of dm but also he never liked their hometown . at all. also smth smth petey being scared of water but dm makes him feel safe and that freaks him out a little (bro is showing vulnerability)

-> event where peteys calling dms bluff and basically syaing ooohh youd never get a piercing and dms like nuh uh try me except when petey tries to pierce his ear he sees the needle and freaks out a little (medical trauma !) . he expects petey to make fun of him (not necessarily a judgement on peteys character more so like a "ooh i acted so tough about it but now im backing out thats kinda cringe 😬😬") but peteys just like man whatever and dm feels a little confused about it . hes used to having to uphold a certain persona of sorts as like someone carefree and dependable so that people dont get unnerved by him being a freak of nature for lack of a better word . like making up for his very existence by being approachable. so seeing petey just. not give a shit that he Obviously has some problems is. idk a litle refreshing ig ? like he doesnt rlly have to uphold a facade in front of him bc he dgaf .

-> confession event ! this happens a very short time before their grad (a few weeks to a month at most) during their walk home. sun is setting, its basically summer so its humid as hell, cicadas are chirping, dragonflies in the air, etc etc .

Hello!!! ✨️🌟💖 I have come to ask about your au and my favorite trope, because I can't stand not thinking about dogman and petey. Anyways.

Dimension travel is my favorite shit, I live and breath interactions between characters who are the same person but with different lives. Soooo... to make your au about meeee... I'm joking, obviously, but I have to ask.

What do you think Dogman and Petey would think about your au? On how your Petey got to raise LP since birth, instead of being cloned. How your Petey actually has friends, how he never turned to villainy, and how he actually seems to have a life other than the grief he lived with before LP appeared. And how he seems to, now matter how messed up it is, actually have a relationship with his father in your au. What would he think about that? How would he cope and freak out, and a million other things about how this person, who is literally him, who lives a completely different life?

How would Dogman react to the fact that your dogman actually gets to live a life as dogman first, before being thrust into heroism and the spotlight? How your dm gets to have a family, without it being threatened in life or death situations. How he gets to learn how to be a person, instead of being forced to become one. And how he gets to have a normal relationship with Petey and LP, and gets to take care of this kitten that he loves like a son at a younger age.

Of course, the disconnect between them and their lives is too great, so they might not think anything other than a "congratulations! Your life doesn't suck in the same way ours does!" And I also think that the Dogman and Petey in your au have a younger vibe to them, so that might give canon detey some thought on how their lives could've been different, had they met earlier. Of course a lot of that hinges on the fact that Dogman and Petey become aware of your au after LP is made.

Anyways. Wow. I talk too much. But like I said, dimension travel is my favorite, and your au gives me a lot to think about. Love you!!!❤️❤️❤️

I do think they wouldn't be upset to see how their life isn't so bad in this universe, yeah, it's unfair how the universe treated their pasts so differently in their own dimension but life isn't so bad if you give it some time until those right people will come to you ^^

- For Petey, he had mixed emotions seeing his alternative self he doesn't envy him, he's just pretty much more positive about it like "oh so this is what my life be like if it doesn't suck, oh well good for him". He's curious of how his alternative grew up without getting into cat jail and actually has someone who cares about him, and finding out that his dad is still absence throughout his life but still got a loving mother despite all those traumatic experiences he still endured them. He's glad he's doing well in this universe with his son

- as for Dogman, he would be so Ecstatic seeing his Pre-Supa Cop self. If he had a chance to talk to his younger self it's this time but except it was just his alternative self telling him that "no matter what everyone says don't be afraid to be yourself" something like that. It's good to know noone is forcing him to live in the society as all human, also it makes him happy he's having a decent relationship with the kitties!!

Overall Detey is rooting for their alternatives selfs

Y/n laughed, “Yeah well, when PR tells you to do a fun entrance in a Formula 1 car, you have to accept.” He was taller than the interviewer, so y/n bent his neck and lowered his head so he could hear him talk.

“And I would’ve as well,” he laughed. “So, y/n, tell me about this suit,” the interviewer stepped back a step and the camera panned down to scroll up and over the red suit that y/n wore.

With a pointed finger, y/n gestured to all of the small details in his outfit that not only meant a lot to him, but also referenced the theme of this years gala—Black Dandyism. It was a beautiful style and y/n remembers the excitement that coursed through him when he heard that he’d been invited this year.

“It’s just a beautiful theme and a beautiful suit, as well,” the interviewer smiled up at y/n. “But, I must ask, since you arrived quite early, whose outfit are you most excited to see tonight?”

“I’ve already seen my favorite, and the one I was most excited for,” y/n turned around and his eyes immediately caught onto Lewis Hamilton’s figure, clad in the beautifully made cream suit. “Lewis Hamilton is by far one of the best dressed ones here outside of the MET, so I was really excited to see what he cooked up with Louis Vuitton.”

As if Lewis heard him, he turned towards y/n. A smile broke out on his face as his eyes caught onto y/n’s.

The world fell away from the two—the camera flashes turned into shining stars as the blue carpet, walls, and ceiling turned into the night sky. It was very much La La Land-esk as everything around them faded away and they ended up in space.

Y/n smiled and his eyes softened at Lewis, which caused the man to start to walk over to the interview. That cut off their quick connection, and Lewis let a hand rest on y/n’s waist when he came up beside him.

“I heard my name, handsome?” Lewis grinned and nodded at the interviewer as he spared a glance over at y/n.

The height difference was quite comedic and noticeable—there was no way that Twitter (or X if you’re with the times) wasn’t already freaking out over the movie star and F1 driver being so close together again. The interviewer went to say more, but representatives for both Lewis and y/n pushed them away, hurling apologies towards the interviewer, but he didn’t care all that much. Vogue just got a story and a beautiful piece idea.

“OH, FUCK,” y/n laughed as he tripped over his own shoe. He looked behind him and, not so, gracefully stepped over the other shoes on the hotel room floor that were in his path. “Jesus, Lew, how many shoes do you have?” He stepped on a black shoe, one with a taller hell than the others.

Lewis laughed as he pushed y/n out of his way so he could walk into the hotel room, the door shutting closed behind them. They shut the world out behind them, leaving just the two of them in the hotel room, only the two of them in on their secret.

"I have enough," Lewis smiled as he started to pull off the black outfit that he had put on for the MET afterparty that he dragged y/n to. "You just have one pair, and that's crazy to me," Lewis tsk'd and shook his head as he glanced over at y/n, who was now laying on the bed on his back. His right arm covered his eyes and his chest rose slowly.

Pausing what he was doing, Lewis walked up to the bed and pulled on y/n arms, causing a whine to escape y/n's throat.

"Nope, come on, love," Lewis hummed as he pulled y/n up so he was sitting up on the bed. His eyes remained closed and his posture was bent like a candy cane as he swayed, threatening to fall back onto the bed again. "You can't sleep in this beautiful suit, you need to change out of it," Lewis's voice was soft as he started to help y/n out of his red suit.

As the jacket started to slide off his arms, y/n opened his eyes and looked up at Lewis, which wasn't a common thing for him, seeing as he was taller than Lewis despite being younger.

"Hmm," y/n hummed as he started to help Lewis slowly take off his suit. Soon enough, y/n was sitting on the edge of the bed in his pajamas, which consisted of a comedic t-shirt with Lewis's face all over it and a pair of sweatshorts.

Lewis walked into the bathroom, but came back just as quick. He held something in his hand, something small but held years of history. He gestured for y/n to hand him his left hand.

"Here you go, Mr. Hamilton," Lewis chuckled as he slid on the ring onto y/n's left ring finger. It was a simple band―gold with small diamonds littered about, but the inside had their wedding date engraved, along with LH. Lewis slid on his own ring, which was similar to y/n's, but his was silver and had Y/I on the inside instead.

"Thank you, Mr. L/n," y/n hummed and he pulled Lewis down into a kiss, a soft and loving one that had both of them sighing.

Their fingers were heavy with their rings, heavy with responsibility and love.

Before they went to sleep that night, they faced each other in bed. Lewis's eyes traveled over y/n's face. He glanced over at the clock on the nightstand, the time blinking back at him in red.

12:00.

"Happy anniversary, lover," Lewis hummed and he leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss on y/n's mouth.

Instinct pulled her eyes to the largest community building and the elaborately decorated clock that so clearly didn’t belong atop it. She didn’t know what she expected to see. Would the gemstone at the twelve o’clock position simply have returned on its own once Rumple had been found? It had been several nights since the Golds stumbled upon this community. Then, one of those nights both Rumple and the stone disappeared, never to be seen again.

Her eyes returned to her son’s panic-stricken face. “Where?”

“They’ll follow,” he gasped quietly, eyes lifting to the gathering of angry villagers.

“Let me worry about that.”

Gideon shook his head, hair brushing his brow. He looked so much older than his eleven years. When they finally escaped this place Belle was making sure they all had proper haircuts. Better yet, she would insist Rumple take them to one of the most famous spas in all the realms, where they could spend a stress and anxiety-free several weeks, doing absolutely nothing at all.

Her son finally relented. “It’s too far. I’ll have to show you.”

Belle nodded sharply and stood, brushing dirt from her palms. She turned, narrowed her eyes at the others, and strode toward them. “You all knew my husband wasn’t responsible for your curse, but you blamed him anyway. Because of that, the curse meant to torture you is now killing us!” She marched up to the baker until she was practically nose to nose with him. “Now my son and I are going to find Rumple and prove he’s innocent of all this. You can have your Midnight Crystal back, for all the good it will do you.”

“He’s a monster,” the baker spat, moistening Belle’s cheek with his spittle. She didn’t wipe it off, nor did she back down because it was exactly what he wanted.

“Rumplestiltskin is a hero.” Her answer was calm and calculating, spoken as if she were reading from an encyclopedia.

“What Dark One has ever been a hero?” The goatherd called back from the edge of the crowd.

Gideon rose to his feet. “This one,” he said with determination. “Haven’t you learned by now? Judging by appearances is what got you all turned into ancient corpses!”

“Gideon,” Belle warned. The description might not be far from the truth, but the contempt that radiated from him was not what she expected from her son.

“We’ll prove my father means to release you from this curse!” With that, Gideon stomped away, back the way he had come.

Belle shot the villagers another scalding glare, then hurried off after him.

Rumple stared at the crystal in his palm, feeling the weight of its very presence. Nothing would destroy it. Not even the worst of his magic.

The despair of his situation overcame him, filling his muscles with a white-hot rage. Of their own accord, they bunched and released, flinging his arms in every direction. He swept his makeshift workspace clean, knocking vials, herbs, and papers to the floor. The candles fell too, spilling hot wax and threatening to light the more flammable items into tiny infernos. In one thrust, he flung the gem through the near darkness of the small cave and listened to it clink against the stone wall.

He’d failed. Again and again, he’d failed.

What would he tell Belle? How could he help his family escape their captivity now? He’d let his old arrogance take over and now they would all be doomed to die in this horrible place. His Belle, and his Gideon, both would wither away to nothing while he was forced to watch, helpless to stop it.

“I won’t let it happen,” Rumple snarled at the darkness through gritted teeth. Finding new determination against his own curse, he strode to the stone and picked it up again. Despite the force with which it had struck the cave’s wall, it hadn’t changed.

Or had it?

In the growing light from the nearest tipped candle, Rumple thought he could see the smallest of lines marring the perfect surface. He squatted down, holding the gem to the light, and turned the purple stone one way, then another in his hands until he caught sight of it again; the faintest sliver of a crack creeping not across the surface, but through the center of the cursed gem.

He looked out of the cave at the mountain range below and sighed. “It’s true, then,” he told no one. “There is one way to end it.”

Rumple stamped out the flames and stumbled to the cave’s entrance. Belle should be here, he realized. She and Gideon deserved to know what he was about to do. They deserved to see that it had to happen to keep everyone alive. It couldn’t be helped, though. If he didn’t move now he would lose his courage and just as Belle had almost cost him his chance to save Bae, so too could she or Gideon prevent his success here with their unending love for him.

Knowing there was no other way of freeing his family from the prison he’d put them in, Rumplestiltskin left the safety of his cave and strode toward his destiny.

“Rumple?” Belle’s voice cracked when she caught sight of her husband, standing at the edge of the cliff just beyond the cave where, she thought, his research had been destroyed. Now she knew the truth. He’d done it. It all was ending. “Rumple? Don’t you dare!”

He turned to her, face wet with tears. “Belle. Why did you come?” His body withered, though he didn’t move.

“Papa!” Gideon charged forward, but Rumple raised his empty hand and clenched it in the air, stopping him in his tracks. Then a rush of magic swept the area. It sent their son flying into the cave, then created an avalanche to hold him there.

“Rumple…” Belle looked from the rubble to her husband and back again. The man she loved was nothing like the one standing before her, consumed with grief over what he’d chosen to do.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered, voice quaking. “I don’t have a choice.”

From behind the stones, Gideon’s voice cried out. “Papa! There’s another way! There has to be!”

“Promise me,” Rumple wept, locking eyes with Belle. “Promise you’ll go.”

“I won’t leave you.” Belle stepped forward, but Rumple closed his eyes against the sight of her.

He stared down at the emptiness as if measuring the distance. “My curse makes me immortal. The Dark One survives everything.” The statement was more question than reassurance.

“I love you,” Belle whispered, wanting to beg him to step away. He stopped her with his simple reply.

“I love you too, sweetheart.”

Then he stepped off the ledge and was gone.

Belle ran to the space he’d left behind, collapsing to the ground and crying out his name into the void below. Her eyes strained to catch movement on the rocks, hoping that the miles of distance wouldn’t matter to a Dark One, just as he’d implied. She cried his name over and over, knowing he would answer back. When had he ever denied her? But nothing moved, and only her own voice came back at her from the distance.

“Mother!” Gideon’s shriek sent her back to the cave, where her son had already managed to remove some of the smaller stones blocking his way. His hand, made bloody and filthy from the desperation he’d thrown into the work, shot out through the hole to catch her attention. “Mother,” he gasped, gulping in air as his body quaked with fear. “Papa… Where’s Papa?”

“Gone,” she whispered, squeezing his hand to try and provide whatever strength she could. “It’s just the two of us now.”

Belle glanced back at the place where Rumple had been and silently dared the realm to prove her wrong. The Dark One wasn’t so easily destroyed. She’d brought him back once before and she would do it again, no matter the cost.
