Qi Ye ensemble cast poster, second edition

Yet another one of those LOL Qi Ye just has that power over me. You know the drill; more info below!

I'll go straight to the point: my main reason to draw this was because I wanted to draw the most somber, dark-looking Helian Qi possible with some dark cross-hatching effect. And because I don't want to draw a Helian Qi solo image because who the HELL does that, I had to turn it into an ensemble cast thing again. I just REALLY like to do that for Qi Ye, for some reasons!!! For a general note, first: shading was a PAIN but making a nice composition and thinking about how to make a hierarchy that both works in terms of storytelling and visual composition was fun. I also liked finding out the "color scheme" to use and I do like lineart. So, now, little notes about each character, and the obligatory name poster just so I'm sure we all know whom I'm talking about:

Jing Beiyuan: I've mentioned it before but drawing Beiyuan is like. The easiest for me, I think, out of ALL Qi Ye/TYK characters combined. He happens to have my general goto "pretty face" (which conveniently has peach blossom eyes). I'm happy with how he turned out here! And got to put the sable around his neck which makes for a nice additional touch. Helian Yi: He's easy to draw as well and I'm glad with how the guan turned out. He initally looked sideways, but I liked it better having him wistfully stare into the distance. Helian Zhao: has the exact same face as in the other, coloured poster, and that cracks me up bc that wasn't even intentional. Helian Pei: GDI I find him so hilarious. He looks so done and out of it. Shout out to all his bird as well, which, I find, really complete the look. Helian Qi: I can't possibly say that I love him as an antagonist because there's nothing to love about this literal trash, but I'm still grateful that we got some of the most rancid stuff going on in Qi Ye just because of him and I'm always here for that. He deserves the villain visual treatment, at least. He was VERY fun to draw and I tried to push that nasty grin and shading as much as possible. He turned out exactly how I wanted him to! (the shading on his face and the balance of light and shadow was a bit of a challenge, actually)

Wuxi: Again, a rather easy one, always pleasant to draw! I loved working on his hair (but complained a lot while doing so)--which I think turned out nicely. Bai Wuchang: Finally! Finally I draw him!! He had to be there, since he's like. The base of the whole Qi Ye plot. Lining him was....... a pain, but at least it looks nice.

Su Qingluan: nothing much to say--I think it's always important to have her there in Qi Ye stuff, and I put her next to Helian Zhao because of how he tried using her--but it did make me feel bad for her when I realised that. Song Ping'an: The real star of the show, lowkey, but always alert and present. Feng Xiaoshu: FINALLY. PRINCESS JING'AN. I'm sorry I took so long to draw her. I want to work on a proper design, I swear. To make up for having completely forgotten to include her in the other spread. I'm so sorry. I like how her face turned out! Liang Jiuxiao: I never, ever, EVER get enough of drawing him. Have I mentioned how much I like him? How much of a great surprise he was reading Qi Ye? How many times I've wanted to high five because finally someone is as confused as I am? I love drawing this very specific smile on him, SO satisfying. Also Bichen said he was "THE Qi Ye antagonist" and I live for that LOL Zhou Zishu: do I really need to say anything atp Jiang Xue: I'm so sorry I put Xiao Xue next to ZZS. The cruelty. But she came out really cute didn't she T_T Anyway that's it. I'm still obsessed with Qi Ye and given my current (totally secret) retranslation project I'm nowhere near done going crazy about this book.

Hmm, I would say work on all my main sims profiles/intros though at one point I want to build up an entire post apocalyptic world build. Probably in Evergreen Harbor.

What do you want from the Sims Franchise?

Fairies, Cemetery lot types, Mermaid and Alien revamps so they are more on par with the other occult sims, an American swamp world, a Caribbean Latino based world, pet revamps (because I feel like our furry friends need more love yeah?) MORE elder content (gameplay and CAS, I need more balding hairstyles gdi) Furniture and clothes from like the 60's-80's

probably a lot more but those are the ones I can think of for now

Any other New Years Resolutions?

Just continue to improve my art/draw more and I'm looking to bring another cat into our household, it feels so empty now after we lost our other cat in October and I think our dog is sad that his friend isn't around. Probably going to wait until spring or summer though...

I have never been an Apple iDevice person but imma be honest, since Procreate put out the statement on anti-AI generated images and stuff, I have been looking into buying an iPad purely so I can start learning how to use Procreate (gdi for only being on iOS)

I have 3 pays until my birthday so HOPEFULLY I will be able to have enough saved to get it as a bday present to myself lol. I also have a con in a couple weeks so. Who knows how that will turn out. Artist Alleys make me wanna spend all of my money...I need to be careful :') I'm going both days so I need to be even more responsible LOL

Still umming and ahhing between the 11" and the 13" iPad Air M2 (I cannot justify the Pro, oof, I ain't made of money), and I definitely want the 256GB one. Obviously need the Apple Pencil too (Pro? Maybe?). Then there's the stuff like the case, need nib protectors too bc I want a paperlike screen protector bc I have a Samsung tablet atm and it's a glossy screen and it kinda sucks for drawing on. My Cintiq is a more matte screen which is SO MUCH NICER to draw on.

I have ideas and I want a portable option so I don't have to just sit at my desk, I can sit anywhere in the house or even bring it when I go out places, etc, etc...also Procreate has some really neat features (I love you CSP but I am not paying for 2 subscriptions) I was trying it out on my sister's iPad and it's pretty nice indeed, I could get used to this. Also the amount of user-made assets and tutorials for Procreate is so cool, I know I can definitely find something that's in the realm of what I'm wanting to do :3

Also I am one of those people who loves customising their devices and it's so much easier to do on an Apple device over an Android. I use a Samsung phone and I do have it to a point where I really like how I've customised it, but my tablet is another story - it's okay but ehhhh, I want it different. Yes I am going to change my icons when I get my iPad, this thing is gonna be so fun when I am done with it. Still thinking about if I should get a clear back folio case so I can stick prints and stuff in the back or if I should just go for a regular folio case, but that's a problem for idk, a few weeks from now.

Oh god my birthday is in just over a month-

Anyway yeah. Hoping to get the iPad and stuff around my birthday but knowing me it'll prooooobably be closer to Christmas but also I hate waiting so we'll see if my impatience is stronger than my impulsively spending on other stuff I don't need - place your bets now /hj

OK BUT HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT THE S1 FINALE I WANT THE UPDATE GDI

I HAVE BEEN DYING TO TALK ABOUT THIS

Okay instantly if you haven't watched The Owl House S1 Finale DO NOT READ

Okay so FIRSTLY I am a SUCKER for the "mentor sacrificing themselves for student (cough cough really child)" trope AND PART 1 OF THE FINALE DIDN'T DISAPPOINT WITH THAT, it PHYSCIALLY hurt to watch Eda use the last bit of her power to save Luz and then turn into the owl creature thing. 10/10, I love that everytime

BUT ALSO THAT SCENE GAVE US THE ICONIC "Then WHY WERE YOU SO EASY TO CURSE?" from Lilith, GOD, whoever are the artists responsible for drawing Lilith and Eda in THAT Scene deserves so much credit, i almost screamed

AND I DIDN'T CRY, but I swear when Luz walked in and King went "I'M THE CAKE! ...Where's Eda?" and Luz's face AND THE GIFT, yeah I was close

The second part was also heartbreaking because THAT BASTARD OF A EMPORER BELOS didn't keep his promise to heal Eda and bring her into the coven AND YEAH DEEP DOWN I KNEW HE WAS GOING TO BREAK THE PROMISE, but that doesn't mean it still didn't hurt

Getting arrested for stepping on the grass and the guard's reaction I'll admit made me laugh, it was like the porter in Macbeth, comedic relief in the middle of drama and angst

OH AND EDA TELLING LUZ TO GO HOME WAS- It almost killed me, if that's how the season ended I would have rioted for all those who had to suffer however long it took for S2 to come out

LILITH HELPING!! I, again, am a sucker for reunited family members who were close, fought and then become close again, the angst, the found family essence in it IS GREAT

The flashback showing WHY Lilith cursed Eda kinda hurt me a bit BECAUSE EDA WAS ALWAYS GOING TO LET LILITH WIN AND- safe to say I am hooked

Destroying the door was a HUGE sacrifice for Luz so CONGRATS to her, sucks that they are rebuilding it though

The petrified sister almost dead and then the sister sharing the pain and saving the other (frozen really made that trope popular huh /lh /pos) CURED MY FAMILY IN MEDIA LOVING SOUL

The little matching hair streak in Lilith after sharing the curse IS COOL AS FUCK TOO, please tell me that it shows up in fanart

Overall, loved the first season, loved the finale, loved Luz, LOVED EDA, loved King, LOVED LILITH, loved how willow and gus ready to help Luz commit crimes to save Eda, its a great show and I AM HOOKED, I have been told to get ready for season 2 AND I AM, already on S2 episode 2 so will update on how it goes, i will not shut up about this show now

i just finished watching ep five... can i know your thoughts on it

OUGH... so many thoughts my dude... where do i even start...

well first of all this episode completely wrecked me emotionally. domestic violence is always hard to watch, but damn did they do their best to make it as horrible as possible (in a good way! its amazing how studio lan sheds light on these kinds of things happening). the animation - the expressions, the hitting, the bruises - the audio design - god the sounds of the violence alone were so fucking heartwrenching. and then the involvement of the kids too. it was so so painful to watch but it was so incredibly well done.

we finally get to know more about the two siblings (and also confirmation that the two are actually involved! plus that lu guang turns out not to be the good brother in the childrens drawing). the scene with cheng xiaoshi being amused about the brother's behaviour and childish thinking seems funny at first, but when you later see the family situation theyre in, it all just makes so much painful sense. he has all this rage and strong sense of justice in him bc they are growing up in this unstable household full of violence. its heartbreaking.

the boy the brother met at the fountain, i first thought it was a young cheng xiaoshi bc of the haircut, but his voice was very different so now im perplexed. they could just be trying to throw us off here but i cant imagine them picking such a drastically different voice from cheng xiaoshi for him, especially bc we already heard his voice as a kid in s1. now my guess is maybe a young qian jin? it would check out with what we know about younger him. and i mean were 5 episodes in we kinda need to get to all the connections eventually.

now, lu guang and cheng xiaoshi. i've already seen people on reddit talk about how lu guang seems off again this episode. what particularly makes me think though is that one scene where their connection supposedly went "bad". i mean, everything, especially in animation, is very intentional so there must be much more to it. im wondering if someone interfered with their connection. one theory i also saw and thought about it a bit more on my own: what if red eyes - either one of the siblings - somehow possessed lu guang during their dive for a short time, making him unable to talk to cheng xiaoshi on his own, hence the silence. and after that he also doesnt realize he was silent for a while. and bc one of the siblings took hold over him for a sec, they saw what lu guang saw and that would explain why the sister supposedly knows cheng xiaoshi (and wants to talk to him at the police station) and that he was involved with her past through the dive. though i guess she could also know about him from qian jin. idk, I JUST HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS.

all in all a fucking fantastic episode but i did have to take a break after watching it. its very emotionally draining. but you can definitely tell the care and thought they put into this.

OH WAIT I ALMOST FORGOT. the little soft expressions and smiles from lu guang when cheng xiaoshi acted cute as xixi in the episode made me explode<3 gdi once again cheng xiaoshi never sees his soft expressions, LU GUANG LOOK AT HIM LIKE THAT WHEN HE CAN SEE.

Some ramblings for alex that might? contain soto spoilers? cause I've only played half but have random ass thoughts anyway

other thoughts I had though, was mainly after seeing the first chapter's name: Commander without a cause. Like... what if commander was literally created/placed just to be Tyria's saviour. All their experiences were real, but they were created and placed to be Tyria's 'oh shit' card.

And any time when the crisis is over, they disappear.

I thought about maybe an advanced creation that was sleeping and no one finds out until the very end...

I now have thoughts of what if Alex died in the desert, and what came back wasn't Alex, but the manifestation of his will. Across all of the verses i have for him, Alex is a genius at magic. What if he marked the leylines with his will before he died?

The one that came back wasn't the Commander, it was Tyria's magic rising up as a result of his will and desire to protect Tyria and his friends. The magic is aware and uses illusions to cover up the fact that they aren't quite human, and acts around like how Alex would.

And so, whenever peace is obtained, 'Alex' disappears, and only reappears when there's a crisis on the horizon. The rest probably don't find out until 'Alex' takes a hard blow that blows off half their body and couldn't come up with an illusion in time, and has to reform their body by drawing on the leylines again.

It becomes way apparent why this 'Alex' seems to only care about protecting Tyria, and not give two shits about anything else.

I did have a version of Alex where magic takes an interest in him and wants to use him as their vessel but that's for another day, I got like 2 comics to finish -cries-

Also being called Harbinger just made me side eye the story creators so hard. Harbinger Azrail was one of the many verses I had prior to this where Alex goes off the deep end and brings Eternal Night to Tyria- aka killing off all life.

Coincident, but I'm still side-eyeing a little.
